The flames burned bright, and you couldn’t tear your eyes away from the crackling fire. The yellow and orange flames flashed like rubies, licking the dark sky, illuminating the beach as you watched them burn. It was like a dance, the way the fire swayed in the wind.
“You okay?” a voice broke you out of your trance as Jake planted a kiss on your cheek. You snapped out of it, smiling up at him as he reached for your hand, clasping it gently in his. He sat down on the sand beside you.
Jake Sim. A year older than you, the sweetest boy you had met in your entire life. He had sparkling eyes full of youth, a smile that could make angels sing, and a calmer temperament than anyone you’d seen in your 20 years of age. You were lucky enough to call him your boyfriend.
You had always been a rather quiet person, but Jake was the opposite. Talkative and popular, he had a seemingly endless amount of friends, many of which threw parties like the one you were at tonight. You grew to enjoy the nights spent at bonfires, house parties, the various celebrations Jake invited you to.
Many people thought you were polar opposites, but that was what made you perfect for each other. You didn’t make friends easily, but he was happy to share his. He wasn’t very emotional, but you didn’t mind coaxing him into confessing what he was feeling. He helped you come out of your shell, you helped him learn to love the peaceful moments. After all, they say opposites attract. And that was certainly true for you.
You had only been dating for a year and a half, but all your friends told you he was the one. And you were beginning to really believe it.
“I’m good.” you replied sweetly. You and Jake’s friends were laughing and dancing boisterously, but you didn’t feel like joining in on the fun. The fire was giving you plenty of company, and an unsettling feeling was creeping into your heart. Maybe it was the Halloween season, or maybe your doubts went deeper than that.
“I’ll sit with you then.” Jake offered kindly, wrapping an arm around your shoulder, and you leaned into him gratefully.
You were in love with Jake, you knew that. He was the first thing you thought of in the morning and the last at night, the main topic of all your conversations. He was sweet, thoughtful, smart, funny, and had every quality you ever wanted from a boyfriend. He was perfect, yet somehow, this didn’t feel right. Six months later, and you were beginning to have doubts. You had doubts in all of your past relationships, but none of them were as good as this one. Despite that, something was off. You could feel it.
For now, you tried to put it behind you, letting the fire and Jake’s warm touch comfort you as you watched the dancing flames.
𖣂 𖣂 𖣂
It was Sunday morning. You were looking forward to a day of no classes, and some alone time. While you loved being with Jake, you had spent everyday together for the past two weeks, and you were craving a little time to yourself.
It was a bit of a drive, but you suddenly wanted to go to your favorite bakery, picking up a fresh baguette to bring home, plus a few pastries for yourself. After that, you visited a nearby park, sitting on a bench alone.
You let the fresh air revitalize you, your hair floating in the breeze. There was hardly anyone in the park, the locals deterred by the fog and biting cold, but you had always enjoyed gloomy weather. You took a croissant out of the ribbon wrapped box, taking a bite and relishing in the peaceful feeling of being alone.
You closed your eyes briefly, and when you opened them, you were put out to discover someone standing before you.
He was extraordinarily good looking; it was the first thing you noticed about him. With his kind eyes, tall stature, and silky dark hair, he looked like an angel appearing out of the fog. He was standing a couple of feet away from the bench you were sitting at, looking at you directly with a soft smile.
“Oh,” you said, startled. “Hi.” You weren’t sure if you were supposed to address him, but he was clearly waiting to say something to you.
“Hi,” he replied. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you. I just liked your shirt.” You looked down at yourself, completely forgetting about your ripped tee. You noticed his neat grey sweater and ironed jeans, wearing a thin silver chain around his neck, and you grew suddenly embarrassed about your messy outfit. He smelled of lilies and fresh paper, the kind of scent that came from a cologne but seemed to be natural.
“You like Amy Winehouse?” you asked, and he nodded excitedly.
“Love her. Valerie was my top song for like, three years in a row.” He seemed eager to share his love of jazz music, and if you were a little more of a senseless person, you could’ve fallen in love right then and there.
“What are the odds?” you said, not sure how to respond. He smiled. Then he held out his hand.
“I’m Sunghoon.” You laughed at the odd gesture, shaking his hand. His grip was firm, and his hands were warm.
“Nice to meet you, Sunghoon. I’m y/n.”
“Beautiful name.” he said kindly, and you blushed, which you would never admit. You were hoping this nice stranger only had friendly intentions; if not, you’d have to tell him to go away, and you were beginning to enjoy his sudden company. “Do you go to the college down the road?”
“No, I actually live in the next town over.” you nodded in the direction you had come from. “I just drove here to visit.”
“Alone?” you looked away in embarrassment, and he gestured to the bench. “Can I sit with you?” It was an odd request, and this was a total stranger, but he seemed nice enough. So you accepted, nodding your head. “So, what's so appealing about this little old town that you’d come all the way here?”
“My favorite bakery, and some much needed alone time.” you admitted, and he raised a brow. “I don’t get much time to myself these days.”
“That’s unfortunate. I have the opposite problem.” he said jokingly, and you opened your box of pastries, removing another croissant.
“Well, you have a new friend now.” you handed it to him, and he looked at the offer in surprise, before accepting it with a wide smile.
“Thanks, y/n. I could use a friend right now.” You smiled in response.
It was shocking how easy it was to get along with Sunghoon. Most of the time, you were horribly averse to meeting strangers; you didn’t know how to act, what to say, what to do. But speaking with him was smooth, it felt as if you’d known each other for years. It was almost concerning how familiar he seemed.
At the end of your conversation, when your phone started flooding with texts from Jake, you took your leave. You offered your number to continue talking, but he told you with regret that he didn’t own a phone, a rare and oddly endearing quality. You accepted, standing to walk away.
“Y/n!” he called after you, just as you were about to leave. You turned around, and he waved at you with a smile, his dark hair blowing in the cold wind. “See you around, okay?” You smiled back, waving.
You didn’t know if you’d ever see this familiar stranger again, but you couldn’t help but hope you did. You had never felt a friendship bloom that quickly, and you didn’t want to let go of it. But you would have to leave it up to fate, hoping you would see Sunghoon again soon, wherever or whenever that may be.
You walked away in a significantly better mood, your box of pastries in your hand. As you got into your car, you noticed the ajar lid, reaching to close it, when your brows furrowed. You opened it, noticing that not a single croissant was missing. Not even the one you offered to him, the one you watched him eat as you chatted.
You blew it off, shutting the lid firmly and turning on your stereo, blasting Amy Winehouse as you drove home to your boyfriend.
𖣂 𖣂 𖣂
Jake was taking you on a date. Between your busy schedules and booming social lives, it was infrequent that you had time for an actual date. Most of the time, your nights would end in cuddling sessions at your shared house, watching a movie or playing your favorite board games. But today, he had a late lunch reservation for your favorite fancy restaurant, and he insisted that you both dress up in your nicest clothes. You wondered if you had forgotten about an anniversary or event, but he assured you he just wanted to celebrate your relationship.
Sometimes, you wondered how you could’ve gotten this lucky.
You put on Jake’s favorite dress of yours, a red silk dress that reached just below your knees. You hadn’t found an event that suited it in a while, and you were excited to bring it out of retirement.
“You look beautiful.” Jake said, holding your hand as you walked through the streets together. You garnered a lot of attention, a couple as beautiful as you were. Passersby stared, whispering with envy at your youth and glamor.
“You’re being so sweet today.” you giggled, your fingers clutching a single red rose that Jake had brough you, one that matched your dress perfectly.
“We don’t go on fancy dates often.” He kissed your knuckles. “I wanted to make today special.” Your heart filled up with fire as you smiled at him, pressing a kiss to his cheek. Your lipstick lingered there, and you considered wiping it off for a moment, before deciding not to. You thought it suited him.
You were actually happy. Finding joy in relationships had always been hard for you; your brain decided to shut them down somehow. Whether going ghost, shutting down, even firing off a quick apathetic text, you found a way to escape your happiness. You weren’t sure why. But you were finally ready to retire from being a heartbreaker; Jake was really the only one you needed.
From behind your boyfriend, you caught a flash of something familiar. The scent of lilies, a grey sweater, silky black hair.
You craned your neck to get a better look, Jake watching you in confusion as you waited for him to turn towards you. He glanced at something, his face turning just a couple of inches, and it was indeed Sunghoon. His sharp nose, wide eyes, you’d recognize that face anywhere, it was the one you were hoping to see for days on end.
Jake followed your gaze, turning back to you in puzzlement.
“What are you looking at?” Upon his words, you shook yourself out of your trance, shaking your head with a smile.
“Oh, I just thought I saw someone I knew.” Jake nodded in relief, his grip on your hand growing a bit tighter as you continued to walk, Sunghoon left behind as the two of you fled the scene.
You wanted to reconnect with Sunghoon, but Jake was here, and he was more important to you. For now, you’d just have to hope that you’d see him again, in another time, another place.
As you walked away, Sunghoon turned around, his eyes following as you and Jake walked down the street, the red silk of your dress flashing under the afternoon sun.
𖣂 𖣂 𖣂
Jake was paying the bill for your meal. By now, the sun was beginning to set, fading slowly behind the horizon as the sky grew pink and orange. You had stepped out of the restaurant for a smoke break, waiting for him as you lit a burning cigarette. The flame of your lighter danced in the wind, swaying side to side before you put it out. Jake was trying to convince you to quit smoking, but old habits die hard, and you were craving a moment of peace.
Your eyes landed on the sidewalk, watching the fall wind sweep golden leaves across the pavement as you took another drag.
“You’re a smoker?” You startled at the sound of a sudden voice, but that surprise melted into delight when you saw who spoke to you.
“Oh, Sunghoon! I didn’t think I’d see you again.” He shrugged in response, tucking his hands into the pockets of his jacket.
“Must be my lucky day.” he replied, a smile on his face, one that you mirrored. You reached down to put out your cigarette, but he waved for you to stop. “No need to stop. I don’t mind.”
“Are you a smoker?” you asked, bringing it to your lips for another drag, and he watched you do so, seeming indifferent to your question.
“Not quite. But I don’t mind if you do it in front of me.”
“Most people hate it.” you chuckled, finishing your cigarette and putting it out on the sole of your heeled shoes. “I suppose the smell is a bit off putting.”
“I disgaree. I like the smell of smoke. It’s relaxing.” Sunghoon shrugged, and a smile grew on your face as you crossed your arms.
“I agree.” You found that it was, yet again, incredibly easy to talk to him. You’d only met twice, but you and Sunghoon already had a lot in common. Your taste in music, pastries, and your partiality to cigarette smoke were only a few of your many interests you’d discussed that seemed strikingly similar.
“So, what are you dressed up for?” he asked, and you were reluctant to answer. “Seems like a special occasion.”
“I suppose it is.” you said mysteriously, and he smiled. Glancing over your shoulder, you saw Jake’s dusty blond hair through the glass window as he collected his coat from the back of his chair. “I gotta go. But it was nice talking to you, again.” Both of you chuckled at that, and he stepped back to allow you room as you walked back to the door of the restaraunt.
“See you around.” he said, reminiscent of the first time you met, a grin on his face that almost looked childlike with eagerness. You smiled.
“See you around.”
And for the second time, you prayed that you would see your new friend again.
𖣂 𖣂 𖣂
After your recent encounter, you began seeing Sunghoon everywhere. In an empty aisle at the grocery store, the street behind your college, even in the area near where you lived. At first you considered that he might be following you, your meetings were so random and frequent, but he confessed at random that he didn’t live in the next town over after all. He lived in your town, not disclosing where, but telling you he was seemingly very close.
You began to enjoy your interactions with him more and more, your friendship growing stronger every day. You told him your genuine thoughts, and he gave you genuine advice. You didn’t often feel comfortable sharing things about yourself with people, but he weaseled his way into your mind almost concerningly easily. Other than Jake, he was the only person you felt like you could truly be yourself around. It was unheard of for you, knowing someone for only a month and feeling this comfortable around it. But you quickly transformed from strangers to the closest of friends.
Today was one of the lazy days where the two of you would lounge on the grass on your front lawn, sipping on coffee to warm yourselves in the cold. Well, you did; Sunghoon wasn’t fond of coffee. You had never invited him inside your house, it seemed too intimate of a line to cross while you had a boyfriend, who wasn’t home at the moment.
A boyfriend you still hadn’t told him about. But he hadn’t asked, so you assumed it wouldn’t be a problem.
“Are you worrying about something?” Sunghoon asked, laying on his back in the dewy grass. You were reading a book beside him while he stared at the gray sky.
“How did you know?” you asked, bemused, and he chuckled.
“I know everything going on in your head.” You nudged him in the shoulder, and he rolled over playfully, turning to his stomach.
“Maybe.” you replied vaguely, and he sat up on his elbows.
“What are you worrying about?” You didn’t respond.
You wanted to tell him about Jake, you really did. It’s not like you were embarrassed, or you wanted to hide him. You loved Jake, you’d be proud to tell anyone that. But you had this creeping feeling that it would affect your friendship, that Sunghoon wouldn’t be fond of knowing about him. Not in a romantic sense, no, you knew Sunghoon had no feelings for you, just as you had none for him. It was just a sinking dread.
“It doesn’t matter.” he said after a minute, rolling back onto his back, looking up at the sky as the clouds moved through the mist. “I bet I already know.”
“And why would you know?” you asked, your voice amused as you turned the page of your book. He grinned, but you didn’t see it.
“I told you. I know everything going on in your head.”
𖣂 𖣂 𖣂
You were acting differently, and Jake could tell from a mile away.
He knew you, and he knew your heart. He could tell when something was bothering you, when you were unusually excited, he detected every minor shift of emotion. But lately, he couldn’t put his finger on what was happening.
You were spending less time with him. You used to be one of those inseparable couples that spent all their time together, but now you were ditching him for study sessions, meetings with friends, excessive alone time. You barely shared things with him anymore; it was like your emotions were all dried up by the time you got home. You were affectionate, but it seemed thoughtless. Jake didn’t want to pry into your business, but he knew he had to find out the cause of your sudden change.
Because not only did Jake know when your emotions changed, he also knew when you were lying to him.
You had just left for a day to yourself, and Jake grabbed his keys from the coffee table, running to his car once he knew you had left for certain. He didn’t want to follow you, that was for certain, but he was terrified that the secret you were keeping from him was big. Maybe as big as infidelity.
His old car crept around the corner, slowly following you from the back of the empty street as you walked. Your headphones were in, and he prayed you wouldn’t turn back and recognize his car. The pit in his stomach grew enormously when you turned the corner, heading towards the busier streets. He followed.
Jake parked, watching with suspicion as you walked into a busy coffee shop. He leaned over the wheel from across the street, squinting his eyes to make you out from the crowd as you sat down at a small table, your coffee table.
He stayed there for nearly an hour, just watching. Waiting for someone to come meet you, a man, as he feared. But nobody came, just you alone at that small table, sipping your coffee.
He sighed, turning his car back on, a flood of relief and guilt consuming him as he pulled out of his spot, heading back home. Maybe you weren’t cheating, maybe you weren’t lying to him. He drove back home, his knuckles blanching as he gripped the wheel tightly, turning back onto your street.
But despite his relief, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.
𖣂 𖣂 𖣂
It was day 365 of knowing Park Sunghoon. The year had gone by in a flash, but it seemed almost too short. To you, it felt like you had known Sunghoon your entire life.
You spent a lot of time together. Attempting to fit him and Jake into your schedule proportionately had proven to be hard, but Sunghoon always managed to show up when you least expected it, yet exactly when you were thinking about him. Sometimes you wondered if he could read your mind, he knew you so well.
365 days had passed, and he began feeling more like your best friend with every day.
Today, you were at the park you first met at. Coincidentally, you had happened to be craving your favorite croissants, and Sunghoon, who conveniently showed up to your dorm just beforehand, had come with you. Now, you were sitting on a park bench, croissants in hand, eating and chatting as the sun began to set.
Dozens of people walked by, but they didn’t seem to pay any attention to either of you. As you watched a pair of twenty-something girls walk past, you wondered why girls never noticed your exceptionally handsome best friend. Maybe getting a girlfriend would be good for him. You wanted him to experience the same happiness that you had with Jake, who you were realizing you hadn’t seen in a while.
“Why don’t girls ever notice you?” you said without thinking, and Sunghoon snorted, setting down his croissant.
“Gee, thanks.”
“That’s not how I meant it.” you said defensively, and he smiled in amusement. “I mean, you’re tall, handsome, sweet. Girls should be all over you.”
“Well, you’re not.”
“That’s different.” you said cynically. “I’m your best friend.” He looked at you seriously, and you shrugged. “What?”
“Nobody knows I exist except for you.” You met his serious gaze, before laughing, and he smiled in response.
“You’re so weird.”
“I’m totally serious. Nobody notices me but you.” It was a strange thing to hear, but it was seemingly true. When you were with Sunghoon, nobody really seemed to notice him, to even see him. He was enormously skilled at fading into the background, going unnoticed by passersby. As he had told you, you were the only friend he had, which only made him more endearing in your mind. You had always had issues making friends, and with your main company being your outgoing boyfriend, it was nice to know someone who went through the same struggle.
Sunghoon was Jake’s complete opposite; he was much more like you. His dark hair contrasted Jake’s dusty blond. He was calm and quiet with a strange sense of humor, not constantly joyous and amused like Jake. In moments when Jake would’ve laughed, he frowned. When Jake would’ve frowned, he laughed.
“And why is that?” you finally replied, and he smiled mysteriously.
“That’s for you to find out.” You snorted, shouldering your bag as you got to your feet, brushing off your pants. “Going somewhere?”
“Yeah, I should start heading home.” you said, checking the time on your watch and disappointed to see it was 7:45. You had plans with Jake at 7:30, and he wasn’t going to be pleased if you were any later than you already were. “Do you need a ride?” Sunghoon shook his head, leaning back against the bench as he looked up at you.
“No. I’ll make my way home.” You cocked your head at him, chuckling as you turned around, waving him goodbye.
“Suit yourself.” you said, and he waved at you as you walked down the street towards your parked car, a few blocks away, eager to get home to Jake before you miss more of your quality time. As you walked, you turned suddenly, gazing down the street at the park bench you had been just a moment before.
Sunghoon was gone.
𖣂 𖣂 𖣂
“You’re late.” Jake grumbled as you met him outside your home, a sheepish grin on your face. His hands were on his hips, but his disgruntled attitude faded when you pressed a chaste kiss to your cheek, and he rested his hands on your waist. “What took you so long.”
“I got caught up with a friend. I hope I’m not too late.” you said, and he smiled, taking your hand as he led you down the driveway onto the sidewalk.
“Better late than never. Ready to go?” you nodded, and you began to walk, heading towards your favorite diner. You both had cars, but you preferred to walk. It allowed for more talking, more eye contact, more intimacy. It felt more real.
“You look really handsome today.” you said, pressing a hand against Jake’s cheek as he immediately grew warm at your compliment. Two years after you’d started dating, and sometimes you still made him feel like a schoolboy with a crush. He smiled with lovesickness.
“Mm, really?”
“Really.” you said, and he pressed a kiss to your lips, your hands swinging together in unison as you held them all the way to the middle of town.
You knew you loved each other, more than anything in the world. And virtually nothing could make you doubt that, or doubt each other. But what you didn’t know was that someone was watching you.
Sunghoon stared unrelentingly as you and Jake walked together. He walked twenty paces behind or so, his footsteps silent, so soft that not even grass bent upon him stepping on it. He watched as you talked, laughed, kissed, reveled passionately in each other's love. It was enviable, he thought.
As you shifted onto busier streets, he followed. Not a single passerby or stranger turned to look at him, nobody noticed as he weaved intricately through the busy crowds, following you and Jake who stumbled through them clumsily. He went completely undetected by everyone, even by you and your boyfriend. He was right when he said nobody noticed him but you; outside of you, his existence meant absolutely nothing.
He watched from outside the diner as you and Jake sat by the windows, sharing a milkshake with two straws like the cliche you were. You assumed Sunghoon didn’t know about your boyfriend; in fact, you’d been purposefully keeping it from him. But of course he knew about your boyfriend, as well as his name, as well as everything else there was to know about him. Sunghoon knew everything about you, and that even included your cheesy, hopelessly romantic boyfriend. As you laughed at Jake’s milk mustache, you looked happier than you’d ever been. Sunghoon frowned.
He knew he had to shut down that happiness somehow, he just wasn’t sure how to. Yet.
He eventually grew tired of seeing you smiling at your boyfriend, sharing meals and stories as the two of you laughed. It began to rain, but the falling droplets never touched his head, and he turned around to walk back home, to wait for you.
To wait for the next time you called for him.
𖣂 𖣂 𖣂
Burn.
Burn.
Burn.
Let it all burn.
You awoke with a start, sweat matting your hair to your forehead. You sat up in bed, wiping the sweat off your face, looking beside you, flooded with relief when Jake was sleeping beside you peacefully.
You were having a nightmare. Your house was on fire and it was raging, the flames seemingly reaching the heavens as it slowly burned to a crisp. The fire was pulling you in, and for a moment you almost walked inside the burning building, until you heard Jake screaming. You snapped out of whatever trance you were in, running to the front of the house where the sound was coming from. In your front yard, Jake was bleeding, pools of blood surrounding him as he went still. And standing above him was Sunghoon, a bloody smile on his face as he slowly turned to you.
The image of his evil expression was burned into your memory, and you shook your head, carding a hand through your hair as you checked the time on the clock. It was 3:00 in the morning, but you knew you couldn’t go back to bed.
You crept out of bed as quietly as you could, careful not to wake your sleeping boyfriend as you pulled a sweater over your pajamas, walking down the stairs as they creaked, the sounds muffled underneath your slippers.
The cold morning breeze bit at you as you stepped out the front door, careful to lock it behind you. You were hoping a walk and a cigarette would help to clear your mind and calm you down.
You weren’t the type to be freaked out by nightmares, but this one felt hauntingly real. You could feel the warmth of the fire as your house went up in flames, the pure fear as Jake’s screams rang through the empty night. You tried to ignore it, lighting a cigarette and propping it in the corner of your mouth as you wandered the streets.
In your mindless wandering, you found yourself at a grassy park, ten or so streets down from your house. Nobody was here at this hour, and you walked through the trees and playgrounds until you reached a grassy hill that contained a familiar face.
You raised a brow in surprise as you watched Sunghoon sitting at the top of the hill, his back resting against a tree as he read a book, flipping the pages casually.
“What are you doing here? It’s 3 am.” you called to him, taking a drag when he turned to look at you and smiled.
“I don’t sleep.” he replied, his attention shifting back to his book. You climbed the hill slowly, your cigarette propped in your mouth as your slippers grew stained with the green dewy grass.
“What are you, a vampire?” you joked, sitting down beside him when you reached the top. You were hesitant to talk to him after your dream, but you did regardless, his hand reaching out to take a hit from your cigarette, his smile just as vivid as it was in your nightmare. You tried to brush it off. It was just a dream, after all.
“Not a vampire, no.”
“What are you reading?” you asked, and he shut the book, showing you the cover.
“One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” he replied, and you nodded at him, impressed as you took your cigarette back from his hands.
“Ken Kesey. Nice.” He shrugged.
“It’s interesting. The main character hallucinates all kinds of shit.” You snort.
“I’ve read it.” He smiled, tucking the book away behind him. That smile, which had once seemed so pure, seemed malicious through the lens of your dream.
“I know.” You both grow silent, the sound of burning ash and your breathing being the only sounds in the quiet morning. The two of you watched the grass sway in the wind, completely undisturbed by the presence of other people.
“We run into each other a lot.” you said finally, Sunghoon turning to look at you. You were pensive, your cigarette burning out in your hand until the ash reached your fingers, and you crumbled it in your hand. “Do you sometimes wonder if we can read each other’s minds?” Sunghoon leaned back, closing his eyes against the breeze.
“I’ve never wondered that. I’ve always known it.” You looked at him, your brows drawn as you nudged him with your elbow, him laughing in response.
“You’re pretty strange, you know.”
“You’re pretty strange too. That’s why we like each other.” You couldn’t argue with that, so you didn’t. You just leaned back against the trunk of the tree, your shoulders touching as you and Sunghoon sat in silence, watching the sun slowly rise in the horizon.
𖣂 𖣂 𖣂
Jake was saying something to you, but you weren’t listening. Lately, you’d been having a hard time focusing on just about anything.
Your nightmare was persisting, coming back to haunt you every night. Ever since that first dream, your mind had been preoccupied with the image of that fire. The fear you felt in your dream crept up on you in your waking hours, the image of Sunghoon’s face burned into your eyes every time you closed them. And it certainly didn’t help that he’d been showing up more than usual, taking more of your time away from things that mattered, like the man in front of you.
You found that you were thinking about Sunghoon more than often. For the past year, he had been your best friend and nothing more, but now, you weren’t sure. His silky hair and mysterious smile kept you up at night, and the gleaming blood on his face as he smiled woke you up in the morning. There was something about him; you couldn’t explain it, but he drew you in just as strongly as that fire in your dream. And the guilt you felt for thinking about him so often was doing nothing to improve your mood, or your relationship.
“Y/n? Are you listening?” Jake asked frustratedly, snapping in your face. You came out of your trance, startling awake as you dropped the tea bag you were holding, the one that had been steeping in your tea for more than a couple minutes now. You threw it into the trash, your angry boyfriend following you as you sat down at the dining table. “I swear you don’t even listen to me anymore.”
“I’m trying to, Jake.” you said, running a hand through your hair. You didn’t even remember what you had been talking about, why he was mad at you in the first place.
“For the past week, you’ve barely spoken to me,” he said. Jake was rarely angry, almost never, but you could hear the resentment in his voice. “You don’t even look at him half the time when we’re together.”
“I don’t know what you want me to say.” You felt hazy.
“Where are you going at dawn every morning?” Your gaze snapped to him, and his eyes were filled with a flurry of emotion; hurt, anger, sadness. “Every morning, you wake up at 3:00 and leave. You think I haven’t noticed?”
“I’ve been having nightmares. They wake me up.” you dismissed him, taking a sip of your tea and finding it had grown cold during your argument.
“You’re not cheating on me?”
“God, no, Jake.” you said, rubbing your forehead in frustration. “I’m just…I’m just confused right now.”
“Then please, tell me what’s going on!” he said, gesticulating in annoyance. “You won’t even speak to me lately. We used to talk all the time.” You considered telling him about Sunghoon, but this was not the time, nor place. It would only make him angrier, and you hated fighting with Jake more than anything.
“I can’t have this conversation right now.”
“Well, when are we going to have it? I mean, do you even love me anymore? You’ve been avoiding me nonstop.”
The past you would’ve fled, would’ve told yourself that this wasn’t worth the conflict and decided to run. You were used to running, but you were tired of it. The new you loved Jake, and you would get through whatever was stopping your relationship, regardless of how hard it was. And you knew you were the one to blame.
“Of course I love you. I’m sorry.” you said, standing up and abandoning your tea on the table. “I’m just going through a weird spot right now, and it’s hard to explain.” You placed a hand on Jake’s face, and he immediately softened. “Soon, I’ll tell you everything. I promise. I’m just in my own head right now.” He put his hand over yours, smiling tightly but accepting what you said, despite how much it hurt his heart to see you struggle in silence.
“Okay. Okay, that’s fine.” He pressed a kiss onto your hand. “And next time you have nightmares, please, wake me up. I’m happy to keep you company in the morning when you can’t sleep.” You smiled, kissing his cheek as you released him, grabbing your mug of tea and dumping it in the sink.
“How did I get so lucky?” Jake grinned at that, walking with you to the kitchen just to hold your hand, walking you to the living room as the two of you cuddled up on the couch together.
You tried to put it out of your head, but something was off. That little, self-sabotaging part of your brain was screaming, begging to be released, and you knew that somehow, it would manifest itself eventually.
𖣂 𖣂 𖣂
Burn.
Burn.
Let it all burn.
Flames were eating away at your bed, and you stood in the doorway as it burned. The fire consumed the walls, your house and all its belongings being consumed by golden flames licking the sky with their enormous size. You watched as your closet, then the bed sheets, then the clock on your nightstand table reading 3:00 am. The fire spread until your room was consumed whole. The house was burning down. And there was nothing you could do to stop it.
“Wake up!” a voice screamed, and you recognized it to be Jake’s through your trance. “Y/n, wake up!” You were confused, turning around to see him behind you, tugging at you, shaking your shoulders with vigor. There was desperation in his eyes, his eyebrows drawn as he shouted at you, desperately pulling, but you wouldn’t budge.
Shouldn’t he be dead by now? This wasn’t how the dream was supposed to go.
“Y/n, wake up!”
Something snapped, and suddenly you were awake, but the house kept burning. Wrathful fire ate away at the furniture and your bed, the walls beginning to collapse in on themself as the house moaned with the effort of keeping itself upright. The house shook, the walls caving in, Jake standing behind you in his pajamas, shocked awake, desperately trying to pull you away.
“Please, we have to get out! Now!”
“This isn’t how it’s supposed to go.” you murmured, still in a sleepy haze. “Am I dreaming?” But it didn’t seem like a dream, no, it was all too real. Your house was on fire, and you began to cry, tears streaming down your face as you stared at your burning bedroom, paralyzed with grief.
Jake pulled violently on your arm, leading you out of the bedroom and through the house. It was full of fire, your staircase burning the bottoms of your feet as you both ran to the front door, flames licking your skin until you finally made it outside.
“What just happened?” you asked, your voice trembling as you both watched your house burn down, the framework being the only thing left. The fire let out a roar, the roof creaking before it crashed in on itself, the walls crumpling to the floor. The flames ate at the grass, igniting your yard and everything around, the ravenous fire slowly spreading across the ground. Somehow, only your house was the one ignited. Nothing else. “How…how did this happen?”
“I don’t know.” Jake replied mournfully, and you began to cry, your shoulders shaking as sobs wracked through your body, and Jake held you close, tears running down his cheeks as well.
You both watched the house you had so dutifully loved, and the relationship you’d made inside of it, burn to the ground, turned to ash and dust. It was all lost. And you knew it had something to do with you, the dreams you’d been having.
Somehow, you had this creeping feeling that the man with the bloody smile, the man who haunted your dreams, was at fault.
𖣂 𖣂 𖣂
The police said the fire was likely due to a pilot light and an excess of gas, some logical, reasonable explanation, but you weren’t listening. Jake was nodding along to their long-winded speech, but you were staring off into the distance, eyes zoned out on the wall of the police station where you sat.
You felt Jake grasp your hand, his thumb rubbing circles on your skin, but you were too enraged to even feel it. Sunghoon was at fault for this. You knew it. Your brain had been warning you, sending you fire-filled nightmares until they finally became reality. It was his fault. It was his fault.
And you were going to find him.
“Smoke break.” you muttered when your boyfriend and the police looked at you questioning, standing up in the middle of their explanation with your fists tightly clenched. You strode out, Jake covering for you, telling the police you were a smoker, you were stressed, all the things they wanted to hear. Their voices went silent as the door closed behind you and you walked right out of the station, not sure where you were going but knowing you’d run into him somewhere. You always did.
“Are you looking for me?” Sunghoon said, and you shrieked at the sound of his voice, startled. You had walked nearly five streets away, to that empty park you had seen him in just a couple of days previously, and there he was, sitting against the same tree at the top of the hill. You slowly walked up to him.
“Sunghoon.” your voice trembled as you spoke, with anger or fear, you weren’t sure. “Was it your fault?” He cocked his head at you, shutting his book.
“Was what my fault?” You shook your head at him.
“You know what I’m talking about. You always know. So tell me, was the fire your fault?” For a minute he didn’t respond, until his lips spread into a crooked grin, and you felt a shiver of fright run down your spine. You had never been scared of Sunghoon, not since you met him that day on the street, but now you felt pure fear when you looked into his eyes. That haunting smile had come to life, from your dreams into your reality, and although there was no blood, you could feel it in the way he looked at you.
“You ruined everything.” you said quietly, your shoulders trembling. “My house is gone. Burned to the ground.”
“C’mon, don’t tell me you actually cared about that house.” He stood, and you backed away from him, stumbling down the hill as he pressed towards you. “Or is it Jake that you’re really worried about?”
“What?”
“Don’t play games. I know about your boyfriend, I’ve known since the day we met.” You never told him about Jake, you were certain you had never slipped up.
“Have you been following me?” you asked, confused and frightened, and he smiled again, that same bloody smile.
“I don’t need to. I told you, I know everything about you.”
“I’m done with this. You’re crazy.” you said with finality, dizzy with rage and fear as you turned and walked away from him, your slow pace turning into a run as you sought to be as far from him as possible.
“No, I’m not. You are.” he called after you, but you didn’t hear it, running against the wind as the sun just began to come up, peeking over the cloudy horizon.
𖣂 𖣂 𖣂
You didn’t see Sunghoon for a while after that. You and Jake rented a studio apartment at the edge of town, it being the only thing you could afford after you lost all the money that was tied up in the house. You were both depressed, but at least you were together.
Sunghoon’s actions weighed heavy on your mind. You didn’t tell Jake that he was the one to blame for the fire, you were afraid of how he would react. If you revealed you had been keeping Sunghoon a secret for this long, he might blame you for the house burning down, and where would you go from there? You had already lost your best friend, and you weren’t willing to lose your boyfriend too.
“There’s something you’re not telling me.” Jake said quietly. He was sitting on the couch, head in his hands, as he usually did when he had nothing to distract him. “You’re keeping something from me.” You didn’t respond, because you knew he was right. You were keeping something from him, something enormous, and it was eating away at you. “You won’t talk, you’re smoking more than usual, you’re withdrawn-”
“My house just burnt down, Jake.”
“It was my house too.” he said sharply, and you didn’t reply. You could feel a distance growing between you and Jake, getting wider with every day, and you didn’t know how to fix it. You were desperate to resolve this issue, but how could you tell him that you were to blame for the fire being lit?
“Tell me about your nightmares.”
“What?’ you said, your brows lifting in surprise. He looked up at you, his eyes pleading with you for any kind of response, something he could work with.
“You said you were having nightmares. Tell me about them.”
You didn’t want to, not at all, it would make you have to explain everything to him. But you owed him that, so you sat beside him. And you told him.
“Our house burnt down in your dream? Every night?” he asked, in shock that you could’ve predicted what happened. “And I died?”
You swallowed down your guilt. You kept out the part where Sunghoon was the one to kill him, just saying he had died somehow, but lying to him out loud felt much more horrible than just keeping things from him.
“Yeah. I don’t know why, it just happened.” You expected him to yell, to blame you, to say anything, but he didn’t. He just nodded, like he understood, and you heaved a breath of relief.
“Okay. Okay, I get it.” He abruptly stood, grabbing his keys, and you looked at him with confusion. “I’m going on a drive to clear my head. I’ll be back.”
As he said it, he walked out the door, and you prayed that he was right, that he really was going to come back.
After all the occasions of lying to him, it was Jake’s turn to lie to you. He attemped to keep the wheel steady as he searched for a psychologist, anyone who might be able to give him an answer about what was going on with you. He felt guilty, but that guilt began to slowly disappear as he pulled into the garage of a towering building, walking into the lobby and attempting to find someone who could help him. The secretary led him into a white room, a man sitting at a desk who smiled at him warmly, a kind gesture he was happy to receive.
“Jake? Sit down.” the man said, and Jake sat. “I’m Dr. Yang, but you can call me Jungwon if that makes you more comfortable.”
Jake nodded nervously, looking around the room, scared of the stale, white appearance. It was frightening, an unfamiliar territory that felt foreign to him. He felt like he was selling you out, like he was putting your fate into the hands of another person, but he couldn’t help it. He knew he had to do something.
“So,” Dr. Yang said, crossing his arms as he leaned back in his chair. Jake gulped with anticipation, a mix of fear and guilt running through his veins as the psychologist’s judging eyes landed on him, narrowed. “Tell me about your girlfriend.”
𖣂 𖣂 𖣂
You were wandering around town, as you had often been doing. It’s not like you had anything better to do, with Jake busy and your mind distracting you from getting any work done. There was a flurry of thoughts running through your head, a synthetic blur of fire, blood, and everything you wanted to suppress. It was overwhelming you.
You were on an empty street. You found that lately you wanted to avoid running into other people. You didn’t want to hear their conversations, see their judging eyes, no, you wanted to be alone.
“Where’s your boyfriend?” Sunghoon said, and you nearly jumped in fright. His ability to seemingly come out of nowhere was jarring, and it was beginning to frighten you. Not only did he appear whenever you wanted to see him the least, he always knew exactly where you were. Every minute of the day, down to the exact location. How was that possible?
When you recognized him, you narrowed your eyes, turning away and walking as fast as you could. With long strides, he easily caught up to you.
“What? Are you ignoring me?
“I don’t want to see you ever again.” you spat back at him, and he seemed amused by your vitriolity, eyes crinkingly up into humorous crescents.
“Oh, don’t you get it?” he smiled, and you felt that same fear run up your spine, the fear you felt when you first confronted him about lighting the fire. With every day, he was becoming more like the man you saw in your dream and less like your best friend. “You can’t get rid of me.”
“Please, just go away.” you said, your angry voice tinged with desperation, pleading with him to leave you alone so you could return to the peaceful life you used to have, and for a moment, it looked like he almost pitied you.
“Why? Did I cause problems between you and Jake?” You whipped around, furious that he was still able to read your mind in moments like this.
“I don’t think that’s any of your business.”
“So I was right. I am causing issues between the two of you.” he seemed happy at the prospect of his meddling, and that only made you more concerned, watching the way his smile grew. “Exactly as I expected.”
“Stay away from him.”
“I can’t guarantee that.” He was the exact vision you saw in your dream, smiling with malice and hatred like you had never seen in a human face. You feared for Jake’s life. If Sunghoon had managed to make your fiery nightmare come to life, who was to say he wouldn’t kill Jake as well? Maybe your mind was trying to warn you about him, to tell you what he was going to do next.
“Please, don’t hurt him.”
“Don’t worry. If he dies, it won’t be me that kills him.” You didn’t understand what he was saying and you didn’t want to, so you walked away, refusing to speak as tears began running down your face. Luckily, this time he didn’t follow. You turned to see him staring at you, that smile on his face.
Maybe you were to blame, for blindly trusting a stranger. Sunghoon had managed to worm his way into your brain. He knew you inside out; your behavior, your thoughts, he almost knew you better than you knew yourself. He was living inside your mind. He had infected every part of your life, even your dreams, and you were suddenly wishing that you had never let him sit down next to you on that bench a year ago.
When you looked back at him again, he was gone.
You ran back to your apartment as quickly as you could, praying that Jake was back from his drive. You were relieved to see him safe and sound, sitting on the couch. But something was off; he was staring at the wall, completely silent, his eyes glazed as he clutched a half-empty beer in his hand.
“Jake?” He turned to the sound of your voice. “Is everything alright?” He didn’t respond for a minute, like his brain was processing your question.
“I’m fine.” he said after a moment, turning back to the wall, staring at the peeling wallpaper with rigor. Unable to turn his attention to you.
That night, you went to bed with a heavy heart and a buzzing brain. You were grateful to see that Jake had climbed into bed next to you as usual, but you were much too scared to sleep, no, you were afraid to even close your eyes. You watched the new clock beside your bed as the hours flew by, and suddenly it was 2:30 am. You still hadn’t fallen asleep.
You buried yourself further under the covers, Jake’s light snoring comforting you as you tried desperately to get to sleep. But your mind was racing. It was a flurry of images, most of them Sunghoon. You rolled over towards your bedside table, reaching for the bottle of sleeping pills your boyfriend had bought you in hopes of easing your vivid nightmares. You popped one in your mouth, swallowing it dry before you closed your eyes, praying for the sweet feeling of sleep.
As you drifted off, you stared into the image of Sunghoon’s bloody face carved into the back of your eyelids.
𖣂 𖣂 𖣂
You awoke with a start. The house was completely silent, no evidence of anything that could’ve woken you from your sleep, but you were on high alert. Your heart raced as you looked around the room, falling on the empty space next to you in bed. You immediately sat up in bed, searching the room with your eyes.
“Jake?” you whispered, and heard no response. You slowly got up, your feet padding softly across the floor as you came around the bed. As you stepped forward, you felt your skin grow wet. When you looked down, you were horrified to see the source.
Blood. Red and thick streaks of it running across the floor, leading from your bed to the door to your bedroom, which was slightly ajar. The door you remembered firmly shutting before you went to sleep.
Your heart felt like it was burning in your chest, buzzing with fear as you followed the trail of blood, a sob escaping you when you saw it ran down the staircase, and you clapped a hand over your mouth.
“Jake?” you said again, calling out for him, your voice breaking as it rang empty in the night. He didn’t reply. You dialled 119 on your phone, your hands shaking as it rang. “Hello?”
“119, what’s your emergency?” a voice answered on the other side, and you trembled, slowly descending the blood soaked stairs.
“There’s blood all over my house. I…I think someone killed my boyfriend.” you said, your voice cracking as you broke into a sob, clapping a hand over your mouth to silence yourself. “Please, please hurry.” You followed the blood further, a horrible, debilitating sense of deja vu striking you as it led to the front yard. You prayed this wasn’t true, that it was just another cruel dream, but it felt as real as anything.
“We’re sending units to your location. Stay where you are, we’ll be there soon.” You wanted to listen, to follow instructions, but you dropped your phone, the call ending when you saw what was waiting for you in the front yard.
The closer you got, the more you could see that it was Jake, laying in the grass, his mouth and eyes open in a silent plea. His right fist was clenched shut, and he was covered in blood, and you abandoned all caution to run to him, collapsing onto the ground, blood wetting your dress and your hands as you cradled him in your arms.
This couldn’t be true. You’d had this dream over and over, night after night, but you never thought it would become your reality. You felt like your entire world was shattering. You had lost Jake, you had lost him permanently, and it was all your fault, for welcoming a stranger.
“I told you.” Sunghoon said, his voice quiet as he stood behind you, watching you hold Jake’s body as you sobbed. You could barely address him, too concerned with grief. “I told you he’d die.”
“This is all your fault.” you said, your voice shaking with fear, anger, grief, all the emotions you could imagine were running through you at one time. “I never should’ve befriended you.”
“Oh, you didn’t have a choice.” Sunghoon said, kneeling next to you, his hands resting on his knees. The sound of sirens began to ring through the air, blue and red light shining across the street as cop cars pulled up in front of your house. “We didn’t meet that day. I’ve always been with you.”
“What are you talking about?” you asked, but he didn’t respond.
He got to his feet, his eyes dark and filled with pity as police officers ran out of their cars and towards you, straight past Sunghoon. You pointed to him, eyes wild as they looked at you, then the direction of your finger.
“That’s him! He killed my boyfriend!”
“Ma’am, we’re going to need you to let go of the body.” They ignored you, prying Jake out of your hands. Sunghoon watched as they dragged you away from Jake, inspecting his body while you screamed at them, pleading with them to catch the killer, to arrest him for what he had done to your boyfriend. You still didn’t understand. It was almost pitiful.
You were still screaming and pleading when an officer approached you, a note in his hand, almost illegible through the sheen of blood that covered it.
“Are you y/n?” he asked, and you only cried harder, which seemed to confirm his question. He raised the note, displaying it to you, and you attempted to read it through your tears, your eyes going dry when you processed it.
Y/n killed me.
It was Jake’s handwriting, you knew it. After two years, you’d recognize his handwriting anywhere, the distinctive scribble, the way the letter y looped at the tail. Your heart felt like it would stop in your chest as the officer stared at you scrutinizingly.
“You’re under arrest.”
“What? No, you don’t understand.” you said desperately, struggling against the rough hands of the officer as he attempted to cuff you, wriggling desperately. “I didn’t kill him, Sunghoon did! He killed him!” you screamed, pointing at the dark haired man standing in the shadows, watching.
The more you looked at him, the more you realized that you didn’t know anything about him. Sunghoon always had the ability to read your mind, but you couldn’t name a single thing about him apart from what you had in common. Where did he live? What was his last name? What was his family like? Where did he go to school, where did he work? You couldn’t recall anything, and your eyes widened in terror as he stared at you from the sidewalk, casting no shadow on the pavement.
Then, he smiled, that bloody, horrible smile, the one that haunted you in every sleeping and waking moment.
“Sunghoon killed him!” you cried desperately, the officer staring in confusion at the empty space you were pointing to, the only thing in the silent night being the trees and bloody sidewalks. He turned back to you, and the next three words he spoke made you feel like you could die on the spot, you were so filled with dread and fear.
“Who is Sunghoon?”

PART ONE | PART TWO | PART THREE
I was feel’ pretty spicy when I wrote this so - enjoy!
≪ ◦ ❖ ◦ ≫
When you got asked to babysit for your neighbors for a night, you had no idea that it would become your full time job.
Most of the time it’s wake up at six, head over to their house by seven, get back home around four when Vanessa, Colby’s wife, got home and you gave her the rundown of what happened throughout the day.
Sometimes it’s earlier, sometimes it’s later, but you never have any issue with it. They paid you good and you loved their kids.
Vanessa was usually the one who you dealt with, if Colby was home from work trips, he had the kids, so you weren’t needed, which wasn’t often, honestly.
You were partly glad you never really had to deal with Colby, not because he was an asshole or anything, but mainly because he was hot, and he knew it.
Every time he was around, you had to force yourself not to look at him for too long. Part of you felt like he strutted himself around on purpose because, again, he knew he was hot.
You were neighbors, the houses were kind of close, so if he walked into his room shirtless with the curtains open, which he may or may not have done a few times before, you got a full picture.
When he would catch you looking, he didn’t close the curtains, no. He would give you a little smirk, shake his head and put a shirt on before leaving the room.
He always made you nervous, but in such a weirdly good, we shouldn’t be doing this kind of way, which oddly fueled the fire and felt.. good.
It was only a one sided awkwardness when you first started babysitting, but now you’ve hacked the code to masking your feelings for the husband who lives next door, and no one seems to suspect a thing.
Or, at least, you thought.
“Thank you so much for coming over this early, y/n,” Vanessa says as she closes the door behind you, “I’m running late, the kids are starting to wake up, and I didn’t pack my damn suitcase.”
“Whoa. Hey.” You laugh slightly, “Take a breath, okay? You just go up and pack, I’ll get the kids.”
She grabs your arms, “You’re a saint.” She shakes her head, “Thank you!”
You nod as she walks away, turning around to see oldest one walking down the steps, “Y/n!” He yells running over to you.
“Oh hello my little love!” You bend down, swooping him up from the ground in a hug, “Did you have a good sleep, huh?”
“Yes!” Caden squeals, “Can we go to the park today?”
“We sure can! I hear they added a new slide, so we’ll definitely have to go check that out today!” You set him down, “Are you hungry? I can get you some breakfast, I’m sure your sister is going to be up soon.”
“Cereal please!”
“Coming right up!” You walk him over to the table before going and getting his breakfast. As soon as you set the bowl down in front of him, you hear Vera’s cries coming from upstairs, “Oh, I’ll be right back!”
You job up the steps, “I got it! I got it!” You go into the baby’s room, scooping her up from the crib, “Good morning, sunshine!”
You give her cheeks a few kisses, “Let’s get you changed, okay?”
You take her over to the changing table, smiling down at her as you work to change her. Once done, you pick her up and return downstairs.
As you’re feeding her, Vanessa comes running down the steps, suitcase hitting the steps behind her, “I should be back tomorrow, but I talked to Colby on the phone last night, and he said that he’ll be back later today, so we won’t need you tomorrow unless he decides to fucking leave again.”
She looks at Caden and covers her mouth, “Oops. Sorry, baby.”
“Mommy. We don’t say the f word!” Caden corrects her and she nods, waking over to him, “Well, sometimes you just need to.” She presses a kiss to his head, “I love you. Be good for y/n.”
“I will, mom. I love you, too.” He laughs and goes back to eating.
Vanessa comes over, leaning down to kiss her head, “I love you. Be good.” She looks at you and sighs, “Thank you, again, y/n. I’ll be sure to send you money, or just have Colby do it when he gets home today.”
“I’ll just talk to Colby when he gets home. You worry about catching your flight.”
“Seriously. You’re the best babysitter ever.” She laughs, “I’ll see you later.”
You watch as she leaves before turning to Caden, “All done?” He nods and you nod, “Perfect. Why don’t you go up and change out of your pajamas while I clean up Vera and then we can watch some cartoons before going to the park?”
“Yes!” He cheers as he runs towards the steps, “Cartoons! Cartoons! Cartoons!”
You laugh, shaking your head as you look back at the baby in front of you, “Are you all done?” She giggles and kicks her feet, clapping her hands as you tap your fingers on the tray, “Are you all done!?”
You laugh as you take the tray off, unbuckling her to take her out. You walk back upstairs and take her into her room to change her.
After a few hours of just hanging out and watching cartoons, you made the kids lunch, packed the diaper bag with snacks and drinks and headed off to the park.
“When is daddy coming home?” Caden asks as he walks along side of you, “I miss him.”
You raise your brows and tilt your head, “Mom said he’ll be home today, sweetheart.” He gasps, looking up at you, “Really?!”
You nod with a smile, “Yeah kiddo, he should be home, well. I’m not sure what time, she never told me, but I’m hoping it’ll be before bedtime.”
He nods and points, “The slide!”
“That is the new slide! Come on!” You push the stroller forward as Caden runs towards it, stopping to get her out, “Hold on, Caden. Let me get Vera out quick.”
He waits while you get her out then quickly speeds over as you trail behind him.
You spend a few hours at the park, watching Caden play and pushing Vera in the swing. You talked to a few other nanny’s who were doing the same thing you were. Snacking on the food and drinks you brought and soon enough it was time to head back home for nap time.
“Caden.” You look down at the boy, “Look in the driveway.”
He walks forward, standing up in his tiptoes before gasping and whipping back to look at you, “Daddy’s car!”
You nod, “It is daddy’s car!”
“Daddy!” He runs forward and you yell, “Hey, wait for me!” You jog forward, catching up with the boy before opening the garage door, “Go ahead in, Caden.” You point to the door before getting the baby out of the stroller.
He nods and opens the door, running in as he yells, “Daddy! Daddy!”
Your heart skips a beat at the familiar voice that sets a fire inside of you, “Come here buddy! I missed you!” You walk in, seeing Caden wrapped in the embrace of his dad, “It’s okay. Im not going anywhere.”
You give Colby a smile as you carry a sleeping Vera towards the steps, “She just fell asleep.”
“That’s fine.” He motions, “Take her up, I’ll see her later.”
You nod and walk up the steps, turning into the room to lay her down in the crib. You switch the baby monitor on and take it with you as you leave, closing the door behind you.
You stop when you see Colby coming up the steps, Caden still clinging to him. You give him a small smile and look down as you go to walk by him.
“Hey.” Colby reaches out, his fingers brushing against your arm, “Do you mind sitting with him yet, just so I can get a shower and kinda settle back in?”
You shake your head, “No, no I don’t mind.” You smile and watch as he sets the boy down, “I’ll just be downstairs.”
His eyes trail up and down your body as he nods, stopping at your face, “Thank you.”
You nod, turning away, but you stop, “Oh and not..” you turn back towards him, “That this is important right now, but Vanessa told me to talk to you about me getting paid today.”
You can tell his kinda tenses up, fighting back an eye roll as he nods, “Yeah, no problem.”
“You don’t.. you don’t have to do it right now, I can remind you before I leave.” You look at the steps towards a telling Caden, “I’m going to go before he wakes up his sister.”
“Alright.” Colby nods, watching you walk down the steps.
“Hey, hey. Let’s not wake up sissy, okay?” You walk him over to the couch, “Let’s play with your new cars, yeah?”
“I want to be the blue one!” Caden jumps to the floor, handing you the green one, “You can be green.”
“Sounds good to me.” You laugh as you set the monitor on the floor as you sit down. You drive over the city printed carpet and pretend to crash into his car which makes him giggle.
After a little bit of playing, you notice the baby monitor died, “Oh no.”
“What is it, y/n?” Caden looks at you and you sigh before getting up, “I have to go grab the charger for this thing. I’ll be right back, you keep playing, okay?”
“Okay!”
You walk back up the steps, peaking into Vera’s room to make sure she’s still asleep before walking in and quietly grabbing the charger.
As you walk out, you close the door behind you, slowly bringing it to click shut.
“You’re good with the kids, you know?”
Colby’s voice makes you jump slightly. You turn around, your saliva getting caught in your throat, almost making you choke at the sight of Colby in nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist.
“I’m just.. good with kids, I guess.” You laugh quietly, “I love them. You have some good kids, Colby.”
He nods, a big smile spreading over his lips, “I love them, too. They’re the best thing about me.”
You tilt your head, “What do you mean by that?”
He shrugs, pushing himself up from leaning on the door, “Nothing.” He walks down the hall and glances at you before disappearing into his bedroom.
You let out a shaky breath before going back downstairs.
“Y/n! Look!” Caden stands up, “A car pile!”
“Whoa! Look at that!” You walk back over and sit down, “Hey, are you hungry?” He shakes his head and you nod, “okay.”
Caden looks over at you, looks back down at his cars and then looks back. He stands up, smiling big as he sees Colby walking down the steps.
“C’mere buddy!” Colby smiles as he picks Caden up from the ground, giving him a tight squeeze, “Did you have fun with y/n today?”
Colby glances over at you and you smile as Caden looks at you, “Yeah, she took us to the park and I got to go down the new slide!”
“The new slide! We’ll definitely have to go there so you can show that to me. What color is it?” Colby asks, “Is it blue?”
Caden shakes his head, “No. It’s green!”
“Green! Even better!” Colby sets Caden down and looks at you, “You’re more than welcome to stay for dinner if you’d like.”
You glance down at the baby monitor, checking the status of Vera, “Mm, I’m actually going to head home.” You walk over, your eyes scanning up Colby’s bare torso and chest before meeting his eyes, “Might take a nap. Your wife had me come in at five, and they were both up early so you’re looking at an early bedtime.”
“Perfect, perfect.” Colby takes the monitor, “Thank you for doing this.”
You shrug, “As I said Colby.. I love your kids, so it’s not a problem.” You turn, “Hey, Caden. I’ll see you next time buddy. Maybe when mommy gets back we can talk to her about all going to the park!”
You notice Colby’s face scrunch with offense in your peripheral, but pay no attention to it as Caden runs up to you, “I’ll miss you!”
“Hey, I’m right next door, okay. If you miss me that bad, have dad bring you over and you can hang out, okay?”
Caden nods and you smile, “Alright. Be good for dad, okay? Give your sister a kiss for me!”
He smiles and gives you a thumbs up, “I will! Bye!” He waves as you wave back and you grab your bag. You turn to walk to the door and Colby walks up to you, “I think you’re forgetting something.”
You look around, avoiding having to look at him, “What.. am I fo-“
“Getting paid.” Colby smirks as he pulls his phone from his sweatpants pocket, “I’ll send it to you right now.”
“Oh, right. Yeah.” You pull your phone out, waiting for the notification to pop up, and after a painfully long minute, it shows up, “Got it.”
“Great.” Colby nods, “If you want, maybe later you can come over for a drink, tell me how the kids have been.”
You bite down on the inside of your lip, “I don’t-“ you shake your head, “I don’t think that’s a good idea, Colby.”
“Why? Can’t handle your alcohol?” He jokes and you laugh slightly, “No, I just.. I would like to stay on good terms with your wife, I happen to like my job.”
He raises his brows, “You don’t have to worry about that, I promise.”
You straighten your posture, “Text me when the kids go to bed. Maybe if I’m feeling like a drink, I’ll come over.”
“What you don’t want to watch me through your bedroom window?” Colby smirks and you roll your eyes, “First off.“ you point, “Your son is right there. and second.” You turn to grab the door knob, “I’m leaving now.”
“See you later, sweetheart.”
“Yeah, we’ll see.” You can’t fight back the smirk as you walk out the door and closing it behind you. Your heart was racing ten miles a second, you felt sick, guilty, but at the same time, you felt that fire burning inside of you and you were also desperate enough to extinguish it.
You walked down the steps, around Colby’s and up your own steps to your front door. You unlock it, walking in and hanging up your bag and keys on the hook.
You couldn’t stop thinking about the exchanges you had with Colby, your married with kids neighbor.
You also could help but think that there was trouble in paradise with how Vanessa spoke about him this morning and how he acted right before you left.
The mental image of Colby standing in the door way, fresh out of the shower seemed to be permanently etched into your brain.
No matter what you did, you always went back to thinking about that.
You wanted Colby, but you also didn’t want to lose your job.
≪ ◦ ❖ ◦ ≫
It was creeping on seven o’clock and you had just finished dinner.
You couldn’t help but keep eyeing your phone every now and then, hoping it lights up with a text from Colby, but also hoping it doesn’t.
You grabbed your phone and headed upstairs. You figured you’d keep yourself occupied until that moment happens, or doesn’t.
Whatever, right?
You tossed your phone onto the bed and walked over to get a change of clothes to take to the bathroom. As you step back, you see Colby pushing open his curtains and a smirk creeps onto your face.
His stare is on you and it’s like your legs have a mind of their own as you step towards the window.
He smirks, which turns into that beautiful big smile as he brings his phone up. A few seconds later, you hear your phone chime and Colby looks back up at you.
You walk over to get it, walking back to the window as you read it, Hey there neighbor.
You roll your eyes, sighing as you type back, I take it the kids are asleep?
You look back up as he looks down at his phone, nodding as he types, You called it, early bedtime. So.. You feeling up for a drink? I have a variety, your choice.
You purse your lips as you chew on the inner skin, debating back and forth on what you want to do.
You let out a sigh as you type, One. Drink. You look back up at him through the windows and he looks back up at you, tilting his head with a pout before quickly typing, Two.
You type back, Fine. Two. I’ll meet you in the backyard. I don’t want to wake up the kids.
You look up, seeing him give you a wink before walking away from the window. You roll your eyes, mentally slapping yourself in advance.
You grab a sweatshirt and walk back downstairs, pacing a few times before you go out your back door.
You put your sweatshirt on as you walk over to your gate. You unlatch it, walking through and slowly pushing it closed. You take a few steps, stopping at the gate to Colby’s back yard and you reach over the top to unlatch it.
“Hey.” Colby greets you, alcohol bottle in one hand and two glasses in the other, “Thanks for coming over.”
“Thanks for inviting me.” You laugh nervously, “What did you bring out?” You point to the bottle and he holds it up, “I just grabbed a bottle of whiskey, I can-“
“No.” You cut him off, “That’s fine.” You smile as you walk up, sitting on the couch around the pretty and expansive looking fire pit.
He sits down next to you, pulling up the sleeves to his hoodie before cracking open the bottle, “So. What shall we talk about first?”
“Um, the kids?” You ask, mainly trying to keep the conversation professional, calm, “They really miss you when you go away.”
He nods, handing you a glass that’s not even half full, “I miss them, too. Believe me.”
“No, I didn’t- I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it that way.” You sigh, taking a sip of your drink, “Sorry.”
Colby leans back, his arm stretched across the back of the chair across from you, the fire illuminating his face, “No I know what you meant.” He chuckles lightly, “I just.. when Vanessa and I got married, she knew how much keeping up with Sam meant to me.”
“Sam is.. I assume, your business partner?” You tilt your head, taking another sip of your drink as he nods, “Yeah, we’ve been doing this since we were teenagers, we literally built our business from the ground up.”
“And that requires you to travel a lot?” You hold your hand up, “I’m not saying that that is a bad thing, but why don’t you ever take the kids with you.. or.. something?”
“She doesn’t want the kids leaving the house unless it looks good for her, and she won’t ever go with me. I’ve asked her time and time again, but she claims she doesn’t like flying, but when it’s a solo..” he brings his hand up to air quote, “Work.. trip.” He scoffs, “Fuck me I guess.”
You raise your brows and lean back.
“What?” Colby asks, and you shake your head, “Nothing, nothing..”
“No.” He leans forward, “What is it, y/n?”
“It’s just..” you shrug, tilting your head as you sigh, “I’ve been seeing a lot of you not being here when she’s here and her not being here when you’re finally here and the way she spoke about you this morning..” you scoff, “I could have smacked her.”
Colby raises his brows as you bring a hand to your mouth, “Oh my god. I didn’t- I’m sorry. That just slipped out. Of course I don’t want to smack her, I’m so appreciative of you both for allowing me to make a living from literally next door, I-“
“Hey. Hey.” Colby chuckles, “You’re good. I’m just.. happy, to hear that I have someone on my side.” He stares over at you, “You look like you have something else you want to say.”
You shake your head, “No, I just..” you look down at your glass and bring it to your lips. You finish your drink, cringing as the burn flows down your throat, “Need more to drink, is all.”
Colby chuckles, “Rushing through our two drink agreement I see.”
You scoff, “No.. I just don’t want to cause issues.”
You hand him back your empty glass and he fills it a little more than he did the first time. He extends his arm out, handing it back to you, “I haven’t heard from her all day, so trust me when I say I don’t think there will be any issues.”
“Why haven’t you heard from her?” You take a sip, “If you don’t mind me asking.”
He shrugs, “I don’t know.” He takes a drink from his glass, “We were so good, you know? We were happy. We bought a house together, had the kids.” He scoffs, “I honestly have no idea when everything started.. going down hill? I guess.”
“Do you want my opinion?” You raise your brows and Colby nods once, “Fire away.”
“I think, it’s the distance that you guys put between yourselves, I mean, stop me if this is overly intrusive but, when was the last time that you guys actually had a real, heartfelt conversation with each other? Dinner with just the two of you?”
Colby stays silent for a minute before tilting his head, “It was Valentine’s Day of last year, right before Vera was born. We had Caden stay with her mom and we went out to dinner, then a movie, and honestly y/n, that’s the last time I can remember actually being truly happy, with her at least.”
“Do you want to be happy with her?”
He hesitates for a split second before nodding, “Yeah, I guess I do.”
You take a big gulp of your drink, looking down at the dark liquid that swirls in your glass, “Then you need to do something about it, right?”
“How?” He shoots back, scoffing with a chuckle following, “Lately it just seems like she doesn’t even want to even text me, or sit on the phone for more than two minutes.”
“You have to bring it to her attention, Colby.” You look over at him, chewing on your lip. Before you can say anything else, Colby cuts you off, “It’s fine, y/n. I invited you over so you can fill me in on the kids, not be a marriage counselor.”
You laugh, “Hey, I’m here for you guys, too. Not just the kids.” You quickly bring your glass to your lips, accepting the fact that what you said could be taken multiple ways.
“I appreciate it.” He smiles, bringing his glass up, “I like talking to you. You’re like.. I don’t know, a breath of fresh air?”
You shrug, laughing slightly, “I’m just the girl next door.”
“Who watches me through their bedroom window.”
“I was hoping that wouldn’t come up.” You press your lips together right as you look at him for a second before looking back down.
“I don’t have a problem with it.” Colby laughs and you nod, “Clearly.”
“Yeah, well clearly.. neither do you.”
You take a slow breath in as you look up, “Your point?”
He shrugs, smiling, “No point, I’m just.. saying what’s true.”
“How do you know I don’t have a problem with it?” You squint your eyes at him and tilt your head, “I could.”
“But you don’t.” Colby leans forward, his elbows resting against his knees, “And I can tell you exactly how I know you don’t.”
You lean forward, “oh, please. I would love to hear this.”
He licks his lips, taking a drink from his glass before he sighs, “If you had a problem with it, you wouldn’t lay on that bed with your legs bend up and spread and play with that pretty little pussy with your curtains open, especially knowing I can see right into your room, from mine.”
Your heart drops into your stomach. Fuck.
“I-I don’t-“
He cuts you off, “Don’t try and act dumb. I know you well enough to know that you know exactly what you do when you do it.” He pours more alcohol into his glass, “I mean, I do appreciate you having your curtains closed when you have company over because I honestly can’t tell you what I’d do if I looked over and seen someone getting into something that should be mine.”
You set your glass down, completely shocked at his words, “I-I, um.” You stand up, “I think that’s enough for tonight.”
“You sure?” Colby looks up at you and you nod, “Yeah, Colby.” You walk around the fire pit and Colby grabs your arm.
You stop immediately, not even thinking about putting up a fight.
“Y/n.” He stands up, slowly moving to stand behind you as his hand moves from your arm to your waist, “I know you want me just as much as I fucking want you.”
You shake your head, trying to convince yourself that you need to go, but you don’t - you can’t.
Colby leans in, his lips close to your ear as he whispers, “Think about it, sweetheart. There’s you. There’s me. And then..” he spins you around, both of his hands gripping your hips tightly, “There’s the craving in between.”
You don’t even take another second before reaching up to grab his neck and pull him in for a kiss, which quickly turns into a rough and heated make out.
Your tongues gliding against one another’s as you moan lowly in the middle of it.
“There she is.” Colby mumbles, “I’ve always wanted to know what you sounded like.”
You knew you should pull away, run for the hills, but you can’t. No matter how many times you repeat it mentally to yourself, Go, get out of here, run. Run. Run!
You only wanted more.
“Come with me.” Colby slides his hand down to yours and pulls you with him towards the sliding glass door. He quietly pushes it open and steps in, guiding you in behind him.
His hands are on your hips, your back pressed against the glass frame as his lips trail up and down your neck before pressing to your own lips, “You’re fucking everything I could ever want.”
You stare up at him, the shock of your actions still keeping hold of you.
You follow him upstairs, quietly walking past the closed doors before entering the big bedroom that you’ve only ever seen through your window.
Colby closes the door, setting the baby monitor on the dresser before walking you backwards towards the bed.
You sit down, slowly lying back as his body moves to hover over yours, his lips once again on yours, “I want to taste you.” His voice is gentle, quiet against your lips, “Can I?”
You nod, spreading your legs wider as he slips down over the edge of the bed, his knees pressing into the plush carpet below him.
Your eyes stay on his as he trails his hands down your thighs then back up to grip the band of your pants and wiggle them down over your hips.
You bite your lip, lifting them up before he pulls them down, revealing the skin he’s only ever seen when you would wear those cute little shorts he liked.
His eyes dart down to the soaked spot on your panties, smirking as he looks back up at you, “I knew you wanted this.”
“If we’re being honest here, I’ve wanted this the first time I saw you.”
He tilts his head, “Feeling’s mutual, baby.”
You smirk slightly at his words, “I guess that’s.. good then, yeah?” You gasp as Colby slides his hands up and pressed your thigh apart, “Very good.”
He leans in, kissing along your inner thigh before he reaches your hip. He bites the band, pulling it up as he tilts his head back and lets it go, snapping it against your skin.
You let out a soft gasp, bucking your hips at the sensation.
He reaches up, pulling them down over your hips and thighs, tossing them to the floor once they’re off.
He wastes no time with leaning in and groaning against you as his tongue drags up your core. His fingers dig into your thighs as his tongue pushes into you, earning a gasp as your back arches up from the bed.
Your hand flies to tangle within his soft hair, moaning out as his tongue slides and curls, “F-fuck. Fuck, Colby.”
You look down at him, your jaw falling slack as his eyes meet yours. He gives you a wink before sliding up to wrap his lips around your clit, sucking and nipping which cause your thighs to spasm around his head.
He groans against you lowly, dragging his hand down to slip two fingers into you as he pushes himself upward, “I cannot fucking wait to bury my cock inside of you.”
You throw your head back, body twisting slightly as the thrusts of his fingers pick up. Whines leave your lips and Colby stops, “Gotta be quiet baby, okay? Can you do that for me?”
You nod, rolling your hips to indicate you wanted him to unstop. His motion picks back up, immediately sending you back into the waves of pleasure.
He bends back down, lips wrapping back around your clit as his fingers pick up speed.
Your hand returns to his hair, tugging and pull hard as you bite down on your lip to stifle back your moans.
You gasp, your free hand slapping over your mouth as he brings you to the brink of orgasm. Your hips buck, body tensing and pulling him closer as he guides you through your first high of the night.
He presses soft kisses against your thigh as he slowly withdrawals his fingers. You look up at him as his body moves to hover above yours again, reaching down to push the sweatshirt up his body.
He takes it off, throwing it to the floor and your eyes ogle his completely fit figure as he slides your sweatshirt up your torso, “Take it off.”
You sit up, pulling both your shirt and sweatshirt off in one swoop, leaving you naked below him, “I-I.. want you.” You spoke softly, “I need you.”
Colby pressed his lips to yours as he reached down to push down his sweats just enough to get himself free.
His jaw falls slightly slack as he slips the tip inside of you.
You gasp, your nails sinking into his skin as your legs move to wrap around his waist, pulling him in more.
He groans as your cunt swallows more of him.
Your eyes roll shut as his cock stretches you more then any other one has, “O-oh fuck.” You drag your nails down his shoulders, “I-I-“
A gasp is sucked from your lips as he pulls out and thrust back in, quickly building into a slow pace, “Just wanna feel you right now, baby.”
You nod, your arms wrapping his neck in a tight embrace as you breathe out, “Feels so good.”
Your head turns as Colby kisses down your neck, moaning out as his teeth bite little mark into your skin.
“Everytime I see you, I just wanna..” He trails off and his thrusts grow harder, moaning into your neck, “God you feel so fucking good.”
You slide a hand up to the back of his head, your fingers gathering hair and pulling which earns another moan from him, “I’ve always been jealous of Vanessa.”
“You don’t have to be, sweetheart.” He assures and you drag your nails down his back, “She has what I want.”
“I can give that to you, baby. Just ask.” Colby kisses along your jaw to your lips, “I’ll put a baby in you. Is that what you want?”
He leans up on one arm, his hand moving to rest on your neck, “Not stop until I’m pumping that pretty pussy full of cum and get you nice and pregnant with my baby, huh?”
His grip tightens his grip on your throat, causing you to whimper, “Y-yes.”
“Yes what, sweetheart?”
“I want to have your baby.” You whisper, eyes rolling back as you enter your second orgasm. Your body tightens around him, walls squeezing his cock like your life depends on it.
“Fuck, you will look so hot being pregnant, even hotter because that’s my fucking baby.” He groans as he presses kisses to your cheek, moving his hand to hold his weight up as his thrusts grow more powerful.
Your mind was scrambled, you felt like you were floating. You didn’t know how loud you were moaning or what you were saying, you just knew that the person you dreamed about touching you, was finally doing it better than you’ve ever imagined.
“I don’t think I’ll ever get enough of you.” Colby groans lowly, “You’re so fucking perfect.”
Colby’s thrusts were growing sloppy, but he was trying to fight it, “I can’t wait to see my cum drip out of that perfect little cunt of yours when I’m done.”
Your nails dig harder into his back as you bite down on his shoulder to try and stay as quiet as you could.
“Feels fuckin’ good, don’t it, baby?”
“Y-yea daddy.”
Colby’s head snaps back and he crashes his lips onto yours, “say that again.”
“Yes daddy. Feels so fucking good.” You press hour hands into his chest, “R-roll over.” Colby obliges instantly, rolling over and pulling you with him.
You straddle him, slowly rolling your hips forward and back. Colby’s jaw drops as he watches you grind on his cock, “Fuck, baby. That’s it.” His eyes flick up to yours, “Use it. Make yourself feel good.”
You lean down, lips brushing against his, “Am I better than your wife?”
Without any hesitation, Colby nods, “So fucking better.”
You smirk, sitting up to press your hands into his chest before you start to bounce. You don’t know why came over you, but you loved it.
Colby would do anything you told him to.
You throw your head back as your hips slam down onto his cock, “So fucking big.” You look down at him, “Makes me feel so fucking full.”
He reaches up, grabbing you by the neck and pulls you down to kiss you. You moan into his mouth, “Cum in me. I want all of you, daddy.”
“Anything you say, mama.” Colby smirks, rolling you back over and instantly resuming his thrusts.
It wasn’t long until his thrusts grew sloppy enough that he couldn’t control it, and his cum spills into you.
He rests his forehead against your shoulder, both of you breathing heavy as you feel his cock growing soft.
After a minute or so, he sits up, moving back and he pushes your legs up, “Beautiful.” He drags his finger up along your sensitive cunt, collecting the escaped cum and pushes it back into you.
Your lips part at the feeling and you look up at him.
He leans back down, pressing a kiss to your lips, “You staying or going?”
You sit up, “I think it would be weird if someone walked in and saw us in bed together.”
He purses his lips, “Right, right.” He gets up, grabbing your clothes to hand to you, “Will I see you tomorrow?”
You smirk up at him as you get dressed, “Well see.” You give him a wink and walk over to him, “you might want to keep a shirt on for a few days.”
He walks over to the mirror and looks at his back, “Jesus fuck.” He smirks at you in the reflection and shakes his head, “Nice job.”
You roll your eyes and laugh slightly, “Thanks. Are you walking me out or what?”
“I’ll walk you out.” He nods as he picks up his sweats. You walk over to the door, opening it up to step out when a sound makes you freeze and panic instantly ensues.
It was the front door opening.

From your own experience, life is hard. Especially marriages.
Growing up, your mother and grandmother told you to beware of men, of their lips especially be it their kisses or their words. You never quite understood why until you found out what kind of a man your grandfather actually was. Sure, he died surrounded by the people who loves him but as it turns out, those were the people who had decided to forgive him for cheating on his wife.
After learning that, you began finding faults in your family, anything that could make sense as to why your grandpa cheated in the first place. Was it his kids? Was it really his wife? Was it just the fact that he had no self-control? Maybe it was a little bit of everything accumulating until it became too much. So you decide that when you find the man you want to marry and finally settle down, you'll do whatever you can to keep your husband happy and safe. Of course, when you met your husband Wooyoung, you told him about your fear of marriage, and what it can do to people and their relationship. Coming from a good family, Wooyoung couldn't quite understand your worries but nevertheless, he assured you that you didn't have to do anything to make him happy, you just had to be yourself.
You both married young, as soon as you graduated university. You were 21 and in love and didn't want to waste anymore time apart. He was starting his career as a professional dancer and you wanted a chance to travel with him as you worked remotely at a PR firm. But of course, when you got pregnant you stopped travelling with him as stability is better for babies and it sucked for you because Wooyoung's career had just taken off with him getting booked for gigs all over the country and even landing himself a year contract to tour with an idol. Your last semblance of personal life died the moment you gave birth to your first child as you weren't able to juggle the stress of being a PR and a young mother with your husband absent for most of the time. Even with your and his mom's help, things were still hard and maybe it was because he wasn't there and your anxiety got the best of you. But each time he came home, so excited and so in love with you and your child, your anxiety dissipates and it was then that you realized that your marriage wasn't like the failed ones you had heard. Wooyoung was away most of the time but he was still head over heels for you. So that reassured you, that was how you know you had found the perfect, committed husband.
Now, however, 16 years later, things seemed to change.
"Mom?"
You jolted slightly and turned from looking out the window to see your 14-year-old daughter standing in the middle of the staircase. "Dayoung," you called out, clearing your throat as you put the glass of wine on the coffee table next to you, "What are you doing up, sweetie?" You asked as you offered her a smile. Even through the darkness of the living room, you could see her eyes flit from your face to the wine glass and back up to your face again, "What are YOU doing up?" She asked, crossing her arms. You weren't surprised at her curt words, she had always been rather... snippy with you ever since she became a teenager.
It was no surprise that when you gave birth to her, Wooyoung doted on her a lot. After all, she was your first born and she just looked so much like Wooyoung which was his proudest accomplishment. Until your second child was born, that is, which was double his proudest accomplishment. Different from her little brother who is just 5 years old, Dayoung grew up without Wooyoung around much. But whenever he was in town, the two were inseparable, they're each other's partners in crime and Dayoung loved the fact that she always had fun with her dad. You, however, were the disciplinarian, a role you were forced to take because a child can't have two fun parents and what were you supposed to do when Dayoung refused to take a bath after deciding to play in the mud outside? What were you supposed to do when she refused to eat her vegetables? To her, you were the bad guy, the villain, the party pooper, the wet blanket. And you made peace with that, you made peace with your own child vilifying you so bad that she told her 5-year-old brother to be careful with you because you're not going to let him have fun. You let her believe whatever she wants because she grew up to be a very smart girl who is independent, assertive, opinionated, and brave. Sure, she used her qualities against you, but you liked to think that it just meant that she was comfortable enough with you to be like that.
"I'm..." your words trailed slightly when you saw a car nearing your house only for it to drive past, making you let out a sigh of disappointment, "Waiting for your dad," you turned back to her and shrugged, "Now you." Dayoung rolled her eyes and walked to the kitchen to pour herself a glass of water. It pained you that she was being rather disrespectful, but you weren't about to make an issue of that at 2 am. She even made a show of making eye contact with you as she swallowed the cold water before obnoxiously tossing her used glass to the sink. "Woohyun wanted to pee but you weren't there for him which is not a surprise," she smiled sarcastically before stomping her way back up to her room.
You absolutely love the kid but sometimes you do wonder why she seems to love to torture you with her attitude. To distract yourself, you downed the last bit of wine in your glass before approaching the sink to wash the glasses you and Dayoung used. It had become a habit, cleaning, a way to take control over things you can't really control no matter how much you want things to be in order. You hate being so helpless, wanting to have a good life but not knowing how to achieve it without being perceived as naive, juvenile, or even selfish.
The task had taken over your mind so much that you didn't notice the sound of the front door opening and closing. When you looked up, your heart skipped a beat from what you saw. There he stood, your husband with a bright smile on his face, looking so lovable with his hoodie and sweatpants, making his boyish charm shine even more even through the darkness of the room.
"Hey there, wifey, what are you doing so late? Did you miss me?" he chuckled, making a show of posing at the entrance of the kitchen, making you giggle and shake your head. "Yeah, sure, I miss your stinky self so bad that I stay up hours after putting Dayoung down to sleep," you teased, drying your hands on the towel tied on one of the drawers' handles. Wooyoung faked a gasp and lunged at you, making you squeal and take off to the other side in hopes that you could avoid his grasp. Despite it being so late in the night, you both still ran around the kitchen happily trying to shush one another half-heartedly. Even when Wooyoung managed to grab you and pulled you down on the couch, you couldn't stop giggling out of sheer happiness. You just loved him so much and being in his arms was the best thing you've ever felt.
"..ey? Hey, (y/n)!"
You jolted slightly and blinked twice, trying to make sense of what you were seeing. In front of you, your husband stood by the kitchen doorway like you saw moments before. But he wasn't wearing his hoodie and sweatpants nor did his youthful smile there. He was aged up and wearing attire fit for a young businessman. You remembered that you had put the outfit out for him earlier in the morning; a black knitted sweater with a navy blazer and matching pants. He had asked for you to pick the outfit for him because he was supposed to meet up with investors who want to open another branch of his dance academy in another city.
"Why are you spacing out like that?" Wooyoung asked, raising an eyebrow at you. Though he was asking about you, his voice lacked genuine concern or sympathy. It was almost as if he was only asking as a formality. You push those thoughts to the side however and smiled up at him, "It's nothing, honey, I-" Before you could even finish your sentence, Wooyoung's gaze averted back to his phone as he let out a sound that was supposed to simply acknowledge your answer so that he could simply walk away. He had done it multiple times before and lately more frequently, but the sight of his back on you never got easier to see. It hurts because it felt like he was trying to push you away, not letting you get too close to either share yourself with him or even ask him to share himself with you. You wondered what happened to the both of you. It had been a while since he was like this and you have no idea how to fix it.
But still, you weren't the type to just give up. There is no way in hell would you just throw your hands up carelessly and leave things in the hands of fate. Screw that.
Knowing Wooyoung, he would spend his first moments back sitting on the edge of the bed, still in his dirty outfit, answering people he couldn't answer before because he was driving. You took this as a chance for you to get close to your husband, and spend all the time you can spend together because, during the day, he would be busy with work, running an academy with his partners and shouldering the responsibilities of being the sole breadwinner and father which he absolutely loves. On the other hand, you were busy being a stay-at-home mom. Taking the kids to school, making sure they have their lunches, running errands, paying bills, being active in the PTA as how the private school expect mothers to do, making sure Dayoung go to her hakwon by using public transportation while you take Woohyun to his after school activities on the other side, and sometimes you even help Wooyoung's mom around. You barely had time for yourself or your husband and you truly felt bad for it.
You closed the door to your shared bedroom, not surprised that your husband barely reacted but you let it go, you didn't want to focus on that. "So..." You started, going to your side of the bed to turn the lamp off before sitting down, "I saw my friend Eunyoung today, it was the first time since she had her second child. We went to the salon because her mother finally convinced her to leave the child with her and it actually took Eunyoung an hour to finally leave her house." Wooyoung let out a hum of acknowledgement while his eyes were still glued onto his screen, and a smirk played on his face. For some reason, that smirk made you feel uneasy but you swallowed the feeling down, you were on a mission and you were not about to back down just because your gut decided that something was wrong. "I-it got me thinking," whilst unsuspecting, you crawled on the bed towards your husband before you rest your head on his back as your arms wrapped around his waist, making him freeze in surprise, "I... Want to try for a third again," you confessed. Whatever you expect his reaction to be, a scoff and a shove to your arms were not on the list. "Are you crazy?" He stood up before turning to look at you, "You've had your hands full with Dayoung and Woohyun, why would you want more? I thought we agreed after the last time that two were enough?" He was talking to you as if you were careless or crazy and it made your gut twist. The form of your shoulders visibly dropped in disappointment as you look up at him, "That was almost a year ago, honey, I'm fine now," you ensured.
It had been almost a year since you lost your third child. You never even got to know the gender of the baby. You never even got to know how you lost the baby because not even the doctors know. The both of you went into the doctor's office one day, happy and hopeful and when you came out, you were followed by the echoing voice that there was no heartbeat and that it could happen for no reason. You were such a wreck after that, you shut yourself from everyone and Wooyoung had to jump in and take care of you and your kids whilst also dealing with his grief. After all, it was his idea that you reluctantly agreed to. But when you finally overcame your depression over the loss, you had hoped to see that your husband would be glad for you but instead, he drifted further until you got to this point.
Wooyoung was still simply staring at you in disbelief and you think he realized that something was wrong with you, you had something going on in your mind. No matter the situation, one thing that never changed from Wooyoung was how easily he can read you. "I know... You wanted to have another child, Wooyoung, I do and I think you still have not let go of the one we lost and that's why you've been pulling away from me this past year and I'm so done with that, really," You felt your cheeks burn to your eyes and tears well up to the point of almost spilling, but you willed yourself not to. Hearing this, Wooyoung's eyebrows furrowed and his arms folded in front of his chest, "But I have, (y/n), I... Accepted that we lost that one a long time ago and there is no way we can bring that one back." "So then I don't know what's wrong with us! After almost 20 years being together, 16 of which we spent in a marriage, I don't think something can just snap and everything turns to shit. For fuck's sake, Wooyoung we haven't had sex since then! We used to not be able to have our hands off each other and now it's like we don't have passion for each other anymore. So you make the choice here, Wooyoung, either we try for a third and hope that this baby will bring us the joy we seem to have lost in the past year or you and I go through marriage counselling."
The words barely left your lips when Wooyoung shoved you hard enough that you fell onto the bed, bouncing slightly as your back collided with the soft mattress yet you somehow felt hurt. He quickly climbed on top of you and kissed you whilst taking his blazer off of him. "You want a baby? You're gonna get one," he muttered against your lips. After almost a year of not being intimate with each other, you expected the kiss to be passionate and homecoming, not cold and distant. There was no passion in his kiss, it was just... There. The action seemed more like an attempt to shut you up rather than a proclamation of his love. The hands that used to caress every inch of your skin now yanking and tearing at your clothes with no care, he didn't even bother to completely undress you and you could assume that his movements were simply muscle memory. What you did at that moment was not making love, that was simply having sex. Fucking.
Wooyoung was usually very attuned to your body and its needs, each tick and squirm was interpreted correctly in his head and he was able to calculate what to do next to ensure both of your pleasure. Each session of intimacy was always categorized as lovemaking because that was what it was, an expression of unadulterated, raw intimate love. But this? He didn't even realize that he was basically fucking a corpse. At least, that's what you felt like. Lips on your skin, your husband's warmth encasing you, touch lingering, yet you felt nothing short of coldness. Touches that used to be feather-like and careful seem more like restraint now, harsh and emotionless.
Even after you two were done- well, after he was done, you couldn't move. Your husband left you lying on your bed all alone, the remnants of his release staining your thighs and dried once the excess leaked out of you, body sprawled and unmoving while your gaze fixated on the only source of light, the crack from under the bathroom door where Wooyoung was cleaning himself.
Slowly, your eyes closed from exhaustion, both mental and physical. Despite that, your brain wouldn't let you rest, it forced you to fixate on one thing and one thing only:
Your husband, the man whose affection and love is so exceedingly plenty that it just burst out of his body has no more left of them for you which can only confirm one thing.
He was seeing someone else.

Imagine being Singed though, knowing Viktor? All you wanna do if find a cure for death (lmao right) and bring your daughter back to life, then one day this little boat enters the cave you keep your mutant salamander in, and a little boy with a cane finds it, offers to help because its dying and you’re like hell yeah an apprentice I’m good with kids.
Then this kid doesn’t get that the salamander ain’t a pet, it’s drugs/tester for drugs, and leaves angrily (bro thought you were chill) and you never see him again though you do hear things about him being a co-creator of literal magic technology and you’re probably like damn that’s cool.
Then about twenty years after you first met he comes back to your lab, looking sick af (literally) and is like I totally get why you were torturing that pink lizard, do you have a solution that will keep me from dying? And you’re like yep sure do, he’s some modified heroin-crack I made from the lizard for you, people are gonna hate you though. And he only is like “Jayce will understand” and you’re like fuck he’s repressed and gay, whatever
Then a few months (idk) later you find out he survived an explosion, got fused with the thing you wanted to see (👀) now the leader of a cult, has a hivemind, can heal people and see memories and thoughts, and he’s trying to reverse the process on your wolfman, once again forgets the lesson you tried teaching him (bro, the mutation must survive!) even though you just showed him that very private memory of your dead daughter. And refuses the wolfman blood.
So you’re like, fuck it, stops the process anyways on the wolfman, his ex boyfriend shoots him in the chest, he cocoons himself in a weird sphere, his boyfriend rejects him again, then he’s like fine whatever use the blood. Then he ascends to godhood, you use leftover parts to bring your daughter back to life, and later find out that while in the hivemind his on-again off-again boyfriend told him they were soulmates, and they blipped out of existence.
It’s like what if the kid you babysat one time came back when they were an adult with like, ten college degrees and a co-ceo of apple, bought your own brand of weed, and then half a year later became Jesus.

This will be the last time I’ll ever do this again.
You have been repeating that to yourself over the past several months, constantly reminding yourself that you will never get into a messed-up relationship again. At least, that’s what you thought about before you were brought back to reality, where you’re standing on the front porch of a party location for the night.
Why exactly was that? Frankly, you had no idea yourself.
But there was only one way to find out: to enter the frat party that catered to the seniors for the night. You pretty much knew most of the people here since they were students who belonged to your batch.
Instead of carrying out your usual routine, go to find your deskmate in psych, who was the one who often dragged you out from your bubble to parties like this, and have a couple of drinks before passing out on one of the couches towards the end of the room; you decided to do the complete opposite tonight.
You walked straight towards the outdoor pool area, where most students were holding their glasses of cocktails and dancing around the pool. Some were enjoying their time playing in the waters. You had one goal in mind: to walk straight towards the other end and to find him.
Sure enough, he was there lying on one of the sunloungers with his favourite whiskey in hand while a few girls were hovering around him, touching his bare chest. You couldn’t care less about that since you already knew this was his norm.
But now it was your time with him, and you boldly made your way towards him, standing right before him before he ushered the other girls away. He allowed you to crawl up to him before settling down on his lap, and he rested his free hand on your waist.
“Hey babe, I have been waiting for you since forever,” he grinned before leaning towards you while resting his fingers on your chin.
Instead of giving him a reply, you stared deeply into his eyes before wrapping your arms around his neck, making the male rest his thumb on your lips to part them. “Look at you, already missing my touch so bad. We’ve only just bumped into each other this morning on campus.”
Once again, not a single word left your mouth, but eventually, you decided to lean in to close the gap between you both before sealing your lips with his. The kiss was messy, and you were slowly savouring the leftover alcohol that was on his lips, slowly getting drunk by the way his lips moved against yours as if he knew exactly which spot to get to.
You have lost count of how many times you have made out, and Eric Sohn knew you from A to Z, especially when it comes to playing around with your feelings and emotions.
He was the campus fuckboy, after all.

Flashback
“Y/N! You won’t believe what just happened.” Your roommate Naomi came rushing through your front door, not even bothering to close it before she frantically entered your bedroom.
“Woah, what’s up? And why exactly is your face flushed red?” You asked.
“What else would it be? Obviously, it’s about the guy we all hate to the depths of the earth’s core!” She yelled, placing both hands on either side of her hips before she began rhythmically tapping her feet.
As soon as you heard the word “guy,” you knew exactly who she was referring to—someone you had sworn to never get caught up with again.
Eric Sohn.
“Let me guess, he had a one-night stand with one of our acquaintances,” you announced with crossed arms.
“Not just an acquaintance, Y/N. It’s Stella-”
Upon hearing that name, you immediately stood up from your chair, dropped some of your lecture notes, and made a mess on your tidied-up bedroom floor. Anger began rising rapidly within you, and you had to try your best to contain yourself and not make a scene before your neighbour started complaining about your specific unit for the nth time this month.
“Not Stella,” you fumed.
“Oh yes he did, Y/N. And things are not looking good right now.”
“Please God, tell me she’s alright,” you pleaded with Naomi, shaking her shoulders. But it seemed your roommate wouldn’t spill the tea that easily.
“It’s best if you check it out yourself,” your roommate silently mumbled before you dashed out the door and grabbed your coat frantically to go see whatever mess he had done this time.
And you hoped that it wasn’t as bad as the previous one.
Tumblr media
You were now supporting Stella upright as she tried to position herself directly in front of the sink and calm herself down after having too many drinks than her usual intake. You absolutely hated how your friend—well, former friend—got Stella as messed up as he did to the other girls.
You and Eric went all the way back to kindergarten, where you had always known that there was this little boy who would often cry every single day all because he knew that he wasn’t going to see his parents for a couple of hours, and would try all sorts of methods to convince that he wasn’t fit to enter the school’s compound.
Naturally, everyone knew and labelled him as the “crybaby” and just didn’t really know how to interact with him much.
In the beginning, you reacted the same way with the other kids, thinking that he would eventually grow out of it and decide to mind your own business. However, it came a day when the kids were paired up for a little mini-activity, and that was when you got the infamous boy himself.
Contradicting what the others said about him, he was a jovial and happy-go-lucky kid. In fact, he was the one who helped bring you out of your bubble and made it easier for you to go around meeting new friends. He would often link his arms with you as you walked down the school halls daily, which made the other kids label you two as a couple.
Frankly, you didn’t mind all that because you enjoyed his company. In reality, you often looked forward to being paired up with him again for another activity or sport. After that experience, he would often make his way towards your desk, eat his bento boxes with you during meals, and show off the pretty animal-themed meals his mother had made especially for him.
You often giggled at how he would talk about himself all the time, and it was just mesmerising to see the joy and look on his face whenever he spoke of himself. Adding on to that, he was definitely taught well at home with the way he would go all-out to make friends with others during school hours and help them out in any circumstances possible. He was no longer the “crybaby” that everyone once labelled him as.
Things were going well until one day, his family decided to leave for the States. To say that you were sad about your friend leaving would’ve been an understatement—you were devastated. Not only was he the very first friend you made in kindergarten, but you also felt as if he was your soulmate since he knew everything about you and had never once done nor said the wrong thing that made you upset.
During that time, Eric couldn’t say much either since you were both still young, so he had no choice but to leave with his family. On the very last day when he was in Seoul though, he made sure to give you the tightest hug and place multiple pecks all over your face, promising you that fate would reunite you both someday.
That day eventually came, but you never would have expected to reunite with him the way you did after all these years.
You were both 22, casually entering your second year of university before you encountered the man himself. You were shocked, to say the least, when he first stepped into the lecture hall—his hair was fully blonde, he had several tattoos all over his body, and every girl swooned over him.
He was now a hot mess.
The Eric Sohn you once knew was far gone because the one here was nowhere near the little boy you admired back in kindergarten. Word often spread quickly in college, so you frequently heard about his little date nights with multiple women and his so-called “flavor of the month.”
He was one of the wealthier students on campus, hosting house parties almost once every month. These parties attracted quite the crowd, causing a more ever-present distinction between them and students like you and your roommates—the goody-two-shoes who prioritised studies more than drinking and making out with different people in one night.
That was until he got involved in your affairs.
It all started with him dating one of the girls within your circle, and it ended horribly, to the point that the student herself decided to cut all ties with everyone and isolate herself either in the library or in the comforts of her apartment all the time.
It took you a while to figure out what happened before you could get the girl to talk it out. He was toying with her throughout the relationship, and there were no fixed boundaries or respect while they were together. He seemed unable to settle down with just one girl, and cheating was prominent throughout the entire relationship.
Unfortunately, he didn’t stop there. Multiple exes followed after that, and you’ve seen the heartbreaks he had caused throughout campus. You couldn’t believe it, or rather, you didn’t want to think this was the same soulmate you once had way back in your childhood.
It just didn’t add up.
That was until it happened to Stella.
You couldn’t believe your ears when you found out that your best friend had decided to date with your former friend. As much as you wanted to pull her out of the mess, she knew what she was getting into; who were you to judge or have a say in someone’s decision and relationship?
However, now that you’d witnessed your friend’s downfall in person, you could no longer sit back and watch your former friend continue on his sick, twisted games. So you stomped right out of the bar and walked all the way to Eric’s apartment. Thanks to Stella, you also knew his pin number to unlock the front door, and you wasted no time and quickly barged into the compound.
Sure enough, you found him making out with another girl on his couch, and both of them were definitely surprised to see a random girl going into his apartment without prior notice. The girl under your former fried began grilling him some questions, but all Eric did was stare back at you, eyeing you from head to toe.
In the end, he kindly dismissed the girl for the night before closing the front door and walking straight towards you, now standing a few centimetres away from you.
“It’s been a while, Y/N. To what do I owe the pleasure? Have you been alright?”
“Don’t give me that bullshit, Sohn. You know exactly why I’m here,” you spat, trying to contain the anger and fumes that were slowly rising.
Instead, your reaction intrigued the man, and he returned the favour by smiling at you, one that you knew wasn’t going to end well.
“What does Stella got to do with you, hmm? Unless you’re jealous-”
“Jealous? Don’t make me laugh; I’m here to put you right in your place, mister.” You stomped right towards him and shoved him against the wall, cornering him with both your hands beside his head. “I don’t know what the hell happened when you were in the States, but I surely did not anticipate such behaviour from you after all these years.”
Eric quietly stared at you for a few moments before he lifted his thumb and rested it on your lips, which made you twitch at the contact. “You know, Y/N. There’s this joy in seeing how so many people around you want you. It’s fun and quite thrilling if you ask me.” He was now smacking his lips, and you knew he would make advances if you didn’t stop him there.
Hence, you smacked his hands away before grabbing onto his collar. “Your time playing with innocent girls is up, Sohn. Leave them the hell alone,” you snarled.
“Hmm, what makes you think I’d listen to you?”
You were now put in a bind spot. There was no denying those words that Eric had just spat right into your face. You had no control over him, and hell, even if you were part of the student council, you couldn’t do anything since he wasn’t posing as a threat to the other students.
Another factor was that he was well-loved by the students, particularly female students on campus since he was the guy that everyone wished they could elope with after all. It must be a joke for the fuckboy to listen to your proposal, thinking that you’ll ever have hopes of changing the guy.
But something in you snapped, and you couldn’t care less about the methods you would try to pull off.
Even if that meant sacrificing yourself.
“If I were to date you and meet your needs, you leave the other girls alone.”
That came as a shock to Eric; never in a million years would he have thought you would suggest something like this. You have always been a goody-two-shoes from kindergarten until university. He was well aware of your group of friends: the library was where you would visit most frequently, and you would be back in the dormitories by ten at night.
It took him a while to respond properly, and you weren’t just going to stand there and wait all night, so you did the impossible and pulled him down towards you.
You locked your lips with his.
It all happened so fast, and the anger and frustration prevented you from rationalising your thoughts and making you do what you had done. If you would’ve told yourself that you would lose your first kiss to your former friend turned campus fuckboy, you would’ve immediately jumped off the nearest cliff off campus.
As soon as you pulled away, a smirk appeared on his face, and he quickly turned the tables so that you were now pinned against the wall, his hands travelling down to your waist before licking his lips once again.
“Whatever you say, princess.”
Tumblr media
This whole situationship went on for months, and you were slowly losing your sanity each day. Eventually, you slowly began to give into his urges, playing along with his little games if that meant keeping your friends safe.
Nobody understood why you did it, especially your roommates and circle of friends. Naomi would constantly remind you about all of the horrible things that he did, and you would one hundred percent regret getting involved in his affairs. But if that meant keeping your friends safe and unharmed, you would do it ten times over.
Hence, there is a change in your daily routine: meet up with Eric every day after lectures and accompany him either to the local bars or the comforts of his apartment, and stay the night there whenever it gets too late for you to return to your own. You really didn’t mind it at all since you had a roof over your head and you were safe in his arms.
At least that was what you convinced yourself it would be.
His fuckboy demeanour didn’t stop there, and he would often be seen hanging out and flirting with the other girls. But there was a drastic difference this time: he knew exactly when to draw the line and chose not to advance further than that.
As much as your circle of friends would constantly remind you about all the terrible things Eric had done, you convinced yourself that if he doesn’t see them, then they probably didn’t exist after all.
But one question still remains: Are you really okay with everything unfolding in front of your eyes?
Was lying to yourself about your actual feelings worth it for the sake of your friends? And was going into this despite ignoring all the tornado warnings worth it in the long run?
Tumblr media
End of flashback
“Hey babe, is everything alright?”
You were brought back to reality with Eric rubbing off a little teardrop that flowed down to your cheeks, not realising that you had been consumed with your thoughts so much that you actually cried in front of him.
You were at a loss for words and couldn’t pinpoint why that was either. All you did was gently touch the area he had just wiped off before you felt your eyes begin to water again.
This time, Eric genuinely seemed concerned and cupped your face gently with his hands for the very first time since you both started this entire messed-up situationship months ago.
“I don’t know…I don’t even know why I’m here tonight, Eric,” you began sobbing but tried to hide your tears by choking back them. Why am I like this? Why do I keep doing this with you, knowing my feelings are not validated or ignored? Why did it have to be you?”
You couldn’t care less if people around you began giving you the side-eye, seeing that a girl was sitting on top of Eric in the midst of the frat party sobbing uncontrollably. You have held it in for far too long, ignoring all the warnings your friends have constantly tried to ingrain in your mind.
You got yourself into this situation; you should’ve known that you were getting yourself into trouble when you proposed that idea to him. You should’ve known that you were going to get your heart broken-
Before you could continue with those thoughts, you felt a little peck on your forehead, only to open your eyes to see that Eric had left a little mark right there, closing his eyes to cherish that short moment before pulling away.
“Did that help?” He asked, once again rubbing your red puffy cheeks with his thumbs.
“Eric…why would you…” you sniffed.
“I realised something, Y/N. While I was with you for the past several months.”
“W-What exactly was that?”
“I’m well aware of the things people call me. I know all about the red flags people say about me; frankly, I’ve done some screwed-up shit and brought myself into this messy situation. I know you decided to date me for the sake of your friends, and it’s very brave of you to do that, despite knowing the hurt and harm that would prevail when getting together with me. But that’s not my point-”
He cuts himself off by positioning himself upright on the sunlounger he was lying on, now holding both sides of your shoulders before taking a deep breath to proceed with what he was about to say to you.
“Y/N. You’ve shown me how friends would stand up for each other in a situation like this and how all of these games that I’ve been playing for so long aren’t going to last forever. Emotions are something that shouldn’t be taken lightly, and you shedding actual tears in front of me proved more than enough for me to make my final judgement,” he huffed, knowing that it wasn’t easy for him to get those words off his chest.
Eric began mumbling a few words before he finally decided he was ready to say them out loud to you. “Y/N, will you teach me how to love?”
Your eyes widened upon those words coming out from him; it felt as if you were looking right at the same boy back in kindergarten, your soulmate and childhood best friend. The sudden wave of nostalgia came rushing over you, and you tried your best to hold those tears back as you needed to properly hear him say the words you wanted to hear for the longest time.
“What are you saying, Eric?”
“it is exactly that, Y/N. I’m…trying my best to muster up the courage to say that out loud to you right now. I know you’d probably laugh at my face,” he chuckled. “A guy like me asking the girl who he's been taking advantage of to teach him actual love? Yeah, I’m insane for all of that, I know-”
Before he could finish his sentence, you sealed his lips with a kiss, pushing him back down the lounger, savouring the taste of his lips. Eric returned the favour and deepened the kiss by wrapping his arms around you, his fingers running through your long, wavy hair while he was at it before pulling it apart for some air after a good minute.
“W-What was that for?” He stammered.
With that, you finally gave him a genuine smile for the first time since reuniting with him here on campus. “Welcome back, Eric Sohn.”
In the end, you both burst into laughter, enjoying that little moment together before resting your forehead against his. “So, I’m taking this as a yes? That you accept my proposal?”
You chuckled before ruffling his hair with your hands.
“Maybe if you take me out on a skateboard date the next time, I’ll consider it done, Mr. Tornado Warnings.”

I think that if you’re going to leave a fic open ended (esp if it’s long) you can mark it complete but it is your civic duty to label it open ended in the tags… or literally anywhere, in the summary, in the notes, idc about spoiling your story this is fanfic spoiling is the name of the game but fr fanfic etiquette dictates you should warn for that

"I'm so excited for this trip." You say walking to your rental car, "I can't believe we're here!"
Your best friend, Hadley sighs, looking around, "I know! Im so glad we agreed on doing the solo bride and maid of honor trip."
You nod, throwing your suit case into the car, "So the hotel?" You ask getting into the drivers seat. Hadley gets in and nods, "Yeah we gotta get ready."
"Ready for what?" You look at her with a laugh.
"Please tell me you didn't think we were staying in the hotel room all weekend.." she shakes her head, "No baby. We're throwing a bride sash on you and not having to pay for any drink."
You laugh, "Okay. Yeah. Your idea sounds so much more fun."
"There's the spirit." She punches your arm handle and you laugh, "I'm so glad you remembered the bride sash. I literally forgot about it until right now."
She points to herself, "I'm the maid of honor, of course I'm going to be on top of things."
You nod and shake your head as you continue to drive to the hotel.
.·:*¨ ✘ ¨*:·.
By the time you got settled and showered and all dressed up to go out, a few hours have passed by, making it time for you and Hadley to go out.
"Oh!" She rushes to her suit case and pulls out the sash, "can't forget this!"
"Yes!" You laugh and point to her. She walks over and lifts it over your head, "Perfect." She steps back, pointing to the door, "Let's go."
Luckily, the club you were going to, was only a short walk away.
You get your ID back from the bouncer and you walk in, looking around.
Every thing was so, alive.
You were amazed and excited because you can scratch going to Vegas off of your bucket list.
"Alright." Hadley says, "Let's make that sash, work."
She interlocks her arm with yours and pulls you towards the bar. You had to admit, you didn't think the sash would work.
A guy does a double take, smirking as he reads over your sash, "Bride to be? Huh." He nods, "You get a drink yet?"
Haley nudges you and you laugh, "Oh, Um. Not yet."
"Here." He waves the bartender down and motions to you and Hadley, "Add the next two drinks to my tab."
The bartender nods and you smile at the guy, "Thank you." He winks and looks away. You turn to Hadley and laugh quietly, "Oh my god."
She prances in place and squeals quietly, "I knew it would work."
After the last two hours of mingling and sipping on drinks, Haley rushes up to you and grabs your arm, "Guess who the fuck is here."
You look around, "Who?"
"Colby Brock."
You feel your face relax with shock.
Colby is your celebrity crush basically. You adored him. He was in fact, who you told your fiancÊ your hall pass is.
"Isn't he the-"
You nod, already knowing what she's going to ask, "Yes. Yes." You laugh slightly, "Avery knows my hall pass is Colby."
She covers her mouth, "how often does this fucking shit happen?" She sighs, "So if you meet him do you get to use it?" She look at you and raises her brows, "Cause I mean.. I would."
You laugh, "um, no. I don't think that you can ac-"
"Come on." Hadley pulls you through the crowd and your heart starts beating. You can't sit there and say you haven't thought about Colby while having sex or while doing it solo, because you have.
Colby's hot, like godly, you'd let him ruin your life hot.
So, you would in fact risk it all, "Hey." You pull Hadley back to you, "Keep it low key, I don't want very many people knowing about my embarrassment if I get rejected."
She smirks and nods, "Alright. I gotchu."
You move over to an empty table and sit down, your eyes scanning the crowd. Hadley leans in, "Okay, so I'm going to wait for Colby to go up to the bar and then I'll go talk to him."
You laugh at her, "You're too good at this." She shrugs, "Wingwoman things."
You look around, anxiously thinking about what you wanted to do.
Well, you already knew what you were going to do, you were mainly anxious about the possible outcomes for the repercussion of it.
After a little bit of waiting, she gasps, "Oh. There he goes." She quickly gets down from her stool and she looks at you, "Look cute, okay?"
You nod and quickly go into the mode of trying to be cool and cute.
You force yourself not to look over there, you couldn't believe that this was even happening, like, Hadley was right, how often does this shit really work out?
A few moments later, Hadley returns and she nods, "He's interested."
Your eyes go wide, "no." You shake your head, "You're lying." She laughs, "That would be a sick joke. I'm serious! I gave him your number. I told him to text you because it's a big deal. Blah blah privacy. You know."
You stare at her, slightly in shock, "This isn't real. This isn't happening."
Hadley sighs and reaches out, pinches your arm. You wince in pain, "ouch?" You look at her and she smirks, "You're awake. This isn't a dream."
You laugh, "Oh my god." You sigh, "What about Avery? Oh god. I don't think I can do this."
Hadley lays a hand on your arm and leans in, "y/n. Look at me." She squeezes your arm, "You know that saying, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas?"
You nod and she nods, "Exactly.."
"The fact that you're thinking about passing up the chance to fuck Colby Brock." She shakes her head, "Are you seriously going to do that?"
So along with the whole wanting to fuck Colby, you also have had this, weird feeling, that you could always pull him.
Maybe it was just your ego expanding because you know you're hot enough to actually pull him.
"Is he really the person you'd risk it all for?" Hadley asks and you sigh, "Fuck, yeah. I mean, look at him."
She laughs, "Good, because here they come." She straightens up and you sit up, "Oh fuck. Fuck." You smile as Colby's eyes meet yours.
The way he makes you feel soaked just by looking at you, really tells you that you made the right choice.
"Hey, guys." Hadley smiles, "Colby, who's your friend?" Colby smile and motions to the blonde next to him, "This is Sam."
You laugh slightly, smiling at you nod, "We know. We watch your videos." Your eyes move from Sam to Colby.
He smirks and nods, "We appreciate it."
"So which one of you is the bride to be?" Sam leans in looking for the sash, "Ah. There she is." He smiles up at you and you tilt your head, "Here I am."
"I'm going to go get a round for us, be right back." Sam points and you nod, your eyes following Colby as he sits down next to Hadley, "So when's the big day?"
You couldn't lie. You were so nervous you could throw up.
"Um, three? Weeks? Three and half maybe." You slowly lick over your bottom lip, "It's been quite crazy." You laugh and bring your drink up to your lips.
"That sounds like you need to take this-" Colby pauses and looks at Hadley, "How long are you here for?"
"Mm." Hadley pulls her straw from her lips, "The weekend. Friday to Sunday."
Colby looks back at you, "you need to take this weekend to relax."
You slowly pull your bottom lip between your teeth and if it was just you and him, you'd jump him right then and there.
"That's what I've been telling her! The whole plane ride here." Hadley sighs, "she deserves this." Hadley looks from you, motioning to Colby with her eyes and you can't help but laugh, "Yeah, yeah. I know."
"Tell you what, our friend is throwing a party tomorrow night, why don't you guys swing by?" Colby looks between the two of you and you nod.
This man has you in a mental chokehold, "That would be great, just text me the details."
He smiles at you and nods, "I'll do that."
Sam walks back up and sets the small tray down on the table, "Here we go." He grabs a glass and holds it up. You all follow along with raising yours and Sam looks at you, "To the bride to be."
Your she's move from Sam, locking onto Colby's and he smirks, tilting his head slightly, "to the bride to be."
.·:*¨ ✘ ¨*:·.
"Alright. I think we're going to head out." You say getting down from your stool.
"So soon?" Sam jokes and you laugh, "Yeah, it's almost two am."
"Fair enough, did Colby tell you about our friends party?" Sam asks and you nod, "Oh right, yeah. Colby. Text me the address and stuff."
Colby points back, "Yes, thank you for reminding me."
The more you drank, the more the tension of wanting to fuck each other was growing quickly.
You smile and link arms with Hadley, "Thank you for the drinks!" Hadley turns, "Bye guys!" She waves and you walk out.
The cool, night air chilling your overheated bodies.
"That did not.. just fucking happen." You press your fingers to your lips and think for a moment, "What the fuck."
Hadley sighs, "Ah yeah. That's what you get for waking up in Vegas." You laugh, "Yeah, but wait, we didn't wake up here this morning."
"Can you just-" she laughs, "don't ruin this for me."
"Oh. Sorry." You both drunkenly laugh as you walk back to the hotel. As you make your way in, you dig your room key out of your purse.
You step onto the elevator and the only thing on your mind right now is Colby.
"Are you thinking about him?" Hadley asks and you nod, "Oh yeah."
"Are you gonna do it?" You can tell she looks over at you but you keep your eyes on the doors of the elevator, "Do you think it's worth it?"
"So you think Avery was serious about the whole hall pass thing?" Hadley asks, and you both walk off the elevator.
"I mean.." you sigh, "I couldn't tell if they were joking or not."
Hadley looks around and leans in, her voice going quiet, "The way Colby was looking at you tonight.. tells me that there's no way that man didn't catch feelings for you right then and there."
You roll your eyes and she tilts her head, "I'm your best friend, so I'm going to be honest with you.. let's not forget who doesn't even want you on this girls trip to celebrate their upcoming wedding."
You nod, "We talked about it.. it's fine now."
She nods, "Okay. But still."
You look up at her, "Look I know you don't really care for Avery, but they're who I'm here, celebrating to being married to soon, okay."
You both needed to sleep. You've been flying, driving, and just non stop going all day.
You sigh, "We just need to go to bed and the alcohol isn't helping.. so yeah." You turn around and walk into the room.
You go over to the door that conjoins your rooms and you stop to look over at her, "If this happens, are you going to tell anyone?"
A smirk grows on her lips and she shakes her head, "I promise I won't." You nod, laughing slightly, "I'll let you know how it goes."
She salutes you, "As you should."
You laugh, "goodnight."
You walk into your room, leaving the door unlocked and you go to get undressed. As you're stripping down, you can tell your phone goes off so your heart starts to beat faster.
You grab your phone and walk in to the bathroom, smirking as you see it's a text from Colby, mainly just giving you the address.
You bite your lip and type up your text back, Sounds good. See you tomorrow.
You set your phone down on the counter and take a deep breath as you turn on the shower. As you're waiting patiently for the water to get hot, Colby responds.
You pick up your phone and smile as you read his text, It was really great to meet you and Hadley.
You hop into the shower and pull the curtain closed. You turn your back to the water and tilt your head as you type, It was really nice meeting you and Sam. You both are just absolutely unreal.
You hit send and rest your phone on the little shelf thing so you can take an everything shower.
You couldn't go without checking your phone, in hopes to see his name pop up.
You couldn't lie. This was all a lot for you right now, like you couldn't believe that Colby Brock and Sam Golbach know who you are.
When Colby finally answers, you give it a few minutes before you unlock your phone and read over his text, Speaking of, I gotta say. What she said kind of really peaked my interest.
You take a minute, because this could go one of two ways.
Something tells you to just roll with it, so that's what you do, what did she say to you again? I just want to confirm that she got all the details that we talked about, lol.
You sit your phone down, forcing yourself to finish your shower before looking at your phone again.
It was a twenty nervous filled minutes.
You wrap the towel around yourself and walk out to the room. You sit down on the bed and read what he said, Oh, I see. So you were in on it. If I have to say, that's probably the hottest pickup line ever.
Something flips in your stomach, peaking your interest even more.
You lay back, holding your phone above your face as you type, I just need to know if it's a real thing, ya know?
You jump slightly when you see Avery's name pop up at the top of your screen. You let out a sigh and accept the FaceTime with a smile, "Hey, babe."
"What's going on, baby?" They ask and you sit up, "Just got back from the club a little bit ago.. you?"
They shrug, "Nothing. Just got back from Cam's house."
You nod, "Oh yeah? How was that?"
"Eh. I just can't wait until you're back on Sunday, but you probably are having way too much fun without me."
You laugh slightly, seeing Colby's text appear at the top of the screen, It can be as real as you want it to be, y/n.
"Do you miss me?"
You chew the inside of your lip, nodding as you look at Avery through the screen, "Of course I miss you, too!" You laugh slightly, "Why would you think that I didn't?"
"I'm just messing with you, babe." Avery laughs and you roll your eyes, "Very funny." You yawn and Avery sighs, "Yeah I'm going to head to bed."
"Yeah, me, too." You nod, "I'll call you tomorrow, alright? I love you."
"I love you, sleep good." Avery smiles and waves before hanging up and you take a second to process the call.
You get this really strange feeling that you, honestly, have never felt before.
You didn't like it.
You thought about what you wanted to do, and either way, if your suspicions are right, at least you can say that you fucked Colby Brock, right?
You go to Colby texts and type, The Venetian. Floor 25 room E, last room on the left.
You hit sent and you toss your phone as you now anxiously await the sound of a knock on your door.
A few moments later, theres a soft knock on your door.
You walk over, peeling back the tape on the peep hole to look and to your shock, you see Colby. You push the tape back over and open the door, "How'd you get here so fast?"
"I was down in the casino actually, how weird was that?" He glances down, raising a brow a he tilts his head to the side, "So.. you're really getting right to it, huh?"
You look down, completely forgetting that you were in just a towel, "Oh.. shit. Wow this is embarrassing." You turn around and Colby walks in, "Mm. I like it."
You look at him shyly and smile, "Oh, okay."
"So.." Colby walks up to you, "Can I ask you a question?" You look up at him, giving him a smirk, "Of course."
His eyes stay on yours, which makes it kind of hard for you to stay focused as he asks, "Out of everyone, why me?"
You bite down on your lip, "I mean." To step back and motion to him, "Have you seen yourself?"
Colby chuckles and shakes his head, "I should be asking you the same thing." He bites his lip and sighs, "I am very flattered that I am what you call your - "He puts air quotes up, "Celebrity Hall Pass.." he laughs, "And you being hot makes it ten times better."
You bite your lip, "How do you.. wanna do this?" Your eyes flick up to meet his and he shrugs, "How ever you want to do it, baby."
Baby, you smirk, god you wanted him.
He steps closer to you and you can feel yourself freeze.
His hands hover over your body. Teasing you with the oh so close presence. You grab his wrists and push his hands to meet your body.
His fingers dig to grow his grip tighter. Your hands slide up to his neck and your eyes never move from his, "I want you."
That's all it took - Colby lifts you up, your legs wrapping perfectly around his waist and he walks you over to the bed. He gets up on his knees before laying you down.
His lips crash into yours with that fiery passion you knew you felt. You moan against his lips as he grinds his bulge against your bare cunt, causing you to whimper out.
You needed him, you want him so bad it hurts.
"You sound so pretty, baby." Colby leans up, shifting all his weight onto his left arm as his right hand drags up to the top of your towel, "Can I take this off?"
You nod, "Yes, yes." You bite your lip as he pulls back the towel, revealing your fresh out of the shower body.
Colby can tell you instantly want to cover up. He licks His lips and leans down, "I think.." he presses a kiss to your neck, leaning back to make you look at him, "You are the hottest fucking person I've ever come in contact with."  Your pussy grows wetter and your cheeks grow hotter from his words, "You hear me?"
You nod and lift your body so he can pull the towel from under you, "Hey." He tosses it and leans in, "You are fucking beautiful. Okay?" He nods at you and you nod back.
He plants a kiss to your forehead and you feel his hand drag down your body. He stops at your waist, looking from his hand to you, "Can I touch you?"
You nod quickly, laying your hand on his to push it down to your achy cunt, "Yes." You breathe out, "Please."
Colby's voice is low, "Spread 'em for me, baby."
You comply, parting your thighs. He smirks and you move your hand so you can watch his hand slide down to press his middle finger to your clit.
You let out a gasp and buck your hips, you needed more, "Colby!" You whine out and he chuckles, resting down on his side and presses a kiss down your shoulder, "Tell me what you want, sweetheart."
"I need you in me." You whine out, turning your face to look at him. You lay a hand on your cheek and moan out.
He watches your face twitch with pleasure as he drags a single finger between your folds, listening to you let out another moan as he pushes that finger into you.
"Fuck." You breathe out, rolling your hips, "C-Colby."
"What, baby?" Colby asks and you whine, "more.." you whimper, "I need more."
"How do you want me to fuck you baby?" Colby slowly pushes in another finger, obliging to your request, making you moan out.
Colby chuckles, "Want me to be slow and gentle?, Or do you want me to fuck you rough and hard?"
You nod, whimpering out, "y-yes."
"Which one baby? Talk to me." Colby curls his fingers inside of you and you arch your back off the bed, "F-fuck me.. hard and rough."
"Hard and rough? Mm" Colby leans down, kissing up your neck, "you want to be treated like a slut now don't you?"
You nod and Colby chuckles, "Words, sweetheart."
"Yes." You whisper out, "I want to be a slut for you."
He pulls his fingers out and stands up, "Rub that clit for me while I undress, baby." Your hand drags to your clit and you gasp as you slowly rub circles over your it.
"That's it, baby." Colby nods as he strips his clothes from his body, "You're so wet already." He smirks, as climbs onto the bed, "I turn you on that much?"
You nod, laying your hands on his shoulders, "oh yeah." You bite down on your lip as he positions his hips in between your thighs.
"I couldn't wait to be inside of you the second I saw you sitting at that table." Colby whispers as he rubs the head of his cock against your opening, "So fucking hot."
He inches his cock in, a groan from him mixing with your moan. Your nails dig into his shoulders and you squeeze around him.
Your eyes roll back as you feel him stretching you the further he pushes in, "C-Colby."
You drag your nails up his back, moaning out loudly as he pulls out and thrusts back in. His pace is slow, but his thrusts are hard.
"Does your fiancÊ make you feel this good?" Colby mumbles with his lips against your forehead. You gasp out, tilting your head back, "Fuck, no no no."
Colby slips an arm under your back and holds you up slightly. His other arm supporting his weight as his thrusts grow faster, more vicious.
"You have the pussy that was made for me." Colby moans lowly and you whine, "You feel so good."
Your nails sink into his shoulders as he rams himself into you. You moan out with each thrust, eyes rolling back as he lays you back on the bed.
He leans up, hands reaching down to hold your hips, and his thrusts grow hard, "F-fuck."
Your back arches against the bed and you groan loudly, "F-fuck.." you gasp, feeling yourself come undone around him.
"Fuck, fuck." Colby groans, tilting his head back. He pushes your thighs back, pinning them down as he watches his cock disappear into you repeatedly.
As he's fucking you through your orgasm, you feel his thrusts growing sloppy, "Where do you want me to cum, baby?"
You roll your eyes, shrugging as you whimper out, "Anywhere, I don't care."
He groans and nods, "Fuck." He thrusts his hips forward, slowly thrusting as you feel his cock twitch inside of you.
You couldn't help but moan.
Colby slowly pulls out, still keeping your thigh pinned back, "Fuck. Tell your fiancÊ that I'm sorry in advance."
You bite down on your lip and furrow your brows, "Huh?"
He lets go of his grip on your thighs and leans down, hands beside your head, "I said." He chuckles lightly, "Tell your fiancÊ that I said I'm sorry because I'm about to murder this pussy every day you're here."
You swallow, nodding desperately. Now that did fuck him, you're addicted.
"Really?" You whimper out quietly and he smirks, "Any chance I get, baby. This pussy is mine this weekend, right?"
You nod and Colby tilts his head, "Come on baby. Let me hear it."
You smirk up at him and nod, "This pussy is yours for the weekend."
Colby presses his lips to yours, "Glad we're on the same page." He winks and moves off of you, "Now come on. I need a shower."

N I G H T * T W O
You and Colby fucked again last night.
You fucked again this morning.
And you're one hundred percent sure that he's coming back to your hotel room after their friend's party, which was honestly kind of boring.
You and Hadley were loners until Sam and Colby and some of their friends joined. Once you got a few drinks in you, the night got a little bit better.
When you're finally ready to leave, you look a Colby, "Are you, um." You laugh slightly, voice going lower, "Coming.. over tonight?"
He gives you a nod, "Do you want me to?"
You smirk, "I think we both already know the answer to that question." He nods, a smile on his face, "I think we do, yeah."
An hour later, Colby is opening the hotel door from behind you. Your back is pressed against it, and his lips are on yours.
He walks you backwards through the door and kicks it shut before bending down to lift you up, "This dress is fucking hot as hell, baby."
You smirk, "I thought you'd like it."
"Seems like you know me well enough already." He teases as he walk you over to the bed. He lays you down and lays down on his side next to you, fingers gently dragging up and down your thigh.
You giggle, "I mean, I can't lie. I've followed you on social media for so long, so that kinda helped prepare me for this."
"Smart girl." Colby slips his hand under your dress and you part your thigh a little more, "Sometimes." You breathe out with a laugh.
Colby's fingers drag up and down your clothed pussy, "Are you wet for me?"
"I've been all night."
He smirks and presses his lips to yours as he reaches down to undo his belt. You eagerly pull your dress up and work it up over your head before moving to get your panties off.
As soon as the clothes are off and scattered, Colby's on his knees on the bed by your feet, "Roll over." He motions, "Ass up, sweetheart."
You smirk and roll over onto your stomach, glancing back over your shoulder as you feel his hands on your ass.
They stay on your ass as you raise your hips, keeping your arms bent flat by your head.
"Good girl." Colby says lowly, gliding his cock up and down your soaked slit.
You push your hips back as he slides in and you grip the sheets, letting out a loud moan, "Fuck, Colby."
His hands tightly grip your hips and his speed picks up. He pulls you back to meet each of his thrusts, "Can't get enough of you."
You moan out in response, pleasure consuming you as he hit that perfect spot with each of his thrusts, "F-Fuck." You whine out, "Gonna cum."
You felt so close already and you blame the connection you and Colby have.
It's incredible.
Colby leans down, sliding his hands up your body to grip your shoulders. He pulls you up and you push yourself up onto your hands.
His hands slide around your throat, gradually closing his grip tighter, "Such a good little slut." He breathes out, "Fuck."
You let out a strangled moan, eyes rolling shut as he pounds you into orgasm.
Colby groans as your walls squeeze his cock, "Fuck, baby. That's it, cum for me." He focuses on guiding you through your high, loosening his grip on your throat and you gasp.
His left hand goes to your shoulder and his right hand grabs your hair and gathers it into a makeshift ponytail, "Can I fill you again. Sweetheart?"
You nod your head, wincing as he pulls, "Words. Baby."
"Y-es." You moan out, "Fill my pussy."
Colby smirks at how much control he has over you. He knew you would do anything for him. He had you wrapped around his finger.
"If you say so." He smirks, pushing your face down to the bed.
You let out a loud moan as the slight position change and Colby's hand keeping a tight hold on your hair, "Fuck."
Colby moves his left hand down to your hip, gripping it right as he thrusts harder into you. You clench around him, urging him to fill you, just like he did before.
"Please please please." You whimper, "Fuck, fuck fuck."
"Whose pussy is this?" Colby asks and you smile as you moan out loudly, "Yours, baby. It's yours."
He pushes his cock all the way in as he lets go of your hair to grip your hip. He pulls out slightly and pushes back in, "Fuck."
He allows you to feel his cock twitching as he fills you completely before he pulls out fully. He lets out a sigh, "You are fucking perfect." He leans down to look at your face. He brushes hair from your eyes and smiles, "Do you need anything?"
You shake your head, "No I think I'm going to go for a shower though."
He tilts his head and before he can even say anything you smile, "Come on."

S U N D A Y * M O R N I N G
Colby ended up staying the night with you again and you found yourself wide awake around four a.m.
You just laid there, rethinking everything.
You reach over slowly, making sure not to wake Colby and you grab your phone from the stand. You bite your lip as you navigate through your phone and into your text message threat with Avery.
You struggled to type out your question, because you didn't want it coming off as bad, but you just had this feeling that either way, with you being in Vegas with a fiancĂŠ who doesn't even want you here isn't going to make it better.
You locked your phone, deciding on not sending a message. You cuddled back into Colby's chest and he pulled you closer, "You okay?"
You nod against his chest, a soft toned lie coming from your mouth, "Yeah."
It's quiet for a few minutes and you clear your throat, "I'll be right back. I'm going to see if Hadley has any melatonin or something..."
Sounded like a decent excuse.
You got up, walking over to the connecting door and quietly unlocking it. You push it open and step in. You quietly prance over to her bed and sit down on it slowly, "Hey." You whisper, "Hadley."
She stirs but still no luck. You lean down, "Hey. I need to talk to you." You whisper slightly loud and her body jolts, "what.. the fuck? Y/n?"
She rubs her eyes, "what time is it?"
"I don't know like four thirty?" You move to get over the covers and your sigh as you lean back against the headboard, "I'm stuck."
"On?" She knows, she just wants you to make yourself say it out loud, so you do, "Calling.. off the wedding.."
"Why?" She rubs her eyes, "Like, because you've been hooking up with Colby or because you want to be with Colby."
You know the answer, but you stay silent.
"Do what makes you happy.. I mean.. all I'm gonna say is that you're with someone who doesn't even want you here celebrating their wedding."
You nod, "But.. I still slept with Colby."
"Okay, before he starts to get skeptical about what-" she tilts her head, "what are you here for?"
"Oh." You nod, "I told him I was coming to get some melatonin. I was going to text Avery but I chickened out."
"Well before he starts wondering why you're taking so long, I think first off you need to find out whether or not Avery was serious with the whole hall pass thing but you can play around it either way. Just tell them that you got to meet Colby and I was joking about it or something."
You stare at the bed, thinking for a moment before you nod, "Yeah." You look at her, "That's good. Thank you." You go do get out of her bed, "Sorry for waking you up."
"Mhm." Hadley mumbles as she moves around to get comfortable again, "Night. Good luck."
You let out a soft laugh as you make your way back to the conjoining door. You quietly slip through, closing it beside tip toeing back to hour side of the bed.
Your eyes move up and down Colby's sleeping figure and you just can't help yourself.
You move onto the bed, sitting on your knees as you lean down to lay a few kisses over his abdomen. You glance up at him and smile as he stays asleep.
You reach up, laying a hand on his cheek, "Colby?" You whisper as your thumb strokes his cheek, "I need you."
"You need me, mm?" Colby smirks and you're not in the mood for jokes, which Colby picked up on when you moved to straddle his waist.
You slip your shirt off and toss it, leaving your boobs in full view. You're thinly clothed cunt hovering above his sheet covered cock, growing harder as the situation continues.
"Yes." You whimper out, "I need you." Colby's hands grip at your waist and slide up to move your shirt, "Whatever you need, sweetheart."
You leaned down, pressing your lips to his and his hands slide around to your ass. He pushes you down as he pushes his hips up.
You moan as his cock grinds against your clit, "F-Fuck." You whimper against his lips, "Please."
He flips you over moving the sheet to bring it over you and he moves his body to hover over yours, "You're needy early this mornin'.." Colby tilts his head, "everything alright?"
His hands move down to slip into the top of your panties and you gasp as you feel his fingers brush your clit, "I'm good."
You were in fact not good.
Far fucking from it.
Your mind was racing as lighting speed, did I just ruin someone's life? What if doing this wasn't worth if? There's a chance Avery could have been serious about it..
You let out a groan, grabbing onto his neck, "Fuck me. Please." You could cry from the amount of emotions you have, you just wanted Colby for fuck them all away for a little while.
He pulls his hand out of your panties and he slips them into the waist band, pulling them down your legs.
He pulls them over your feet and your knees are spread wide. You reach out for him and Colby smirks as he leans down. His lips sync with yours and you wiggle your hips, moaning out as you feel the head of his cock rub against your soaked folds.
You bite down gently on his bottom lip, gasping as you feel his cock slide in to you. Your nails digging into the top of his shoulders as you tilt your head back, mouth parted as you moan loudly.
"O-oh.. F-Fuck." You arch your back and Colby takes the opportunity to slip his arm under your back and hold you like that as he begins to thrust.
His lips meet the valley between your boobs, planting open mouth kisses as he moans against your skin, "Please don't leave today."
"Colby." You whisper, clenching your walls around his cock, "I-I ha-" Colby cuts you off with a sloppy kiss and he shakes his head, "No. no. Baby, please don't say you have to."
He rests his forehead against yours and you moan out, "why?" Colby rolls you over so you're now the one riding him, "Why, what baby?" He asks, hands tightly gripping your hips as you move your hips up and down.
"Why shouldn't I leave?" You breathe out as you dig your nails into his chest. He bucks his hips upward, "Do they fuck you better than me?"
You shake your head, "N-not even close." You smile and look down at him, rocking your hips against his as you tilt your head back.
Colby slides his hands up from your hips, gripping your boobs to knead at them.
You let out a moan, whimpering as you look down at Colby, "I'm so close."
Colby slips you back over, one arm bent by your head to hold his weight and the other on your cheek, "You feel so good."
You were desperately chasing that high when all of a sudden your phone rings. Your head snaps and to the side and from as far as you can lift it, you know it's Avery.
"Fuck." You gasp, trying to sit up. You groan when Colby doesn't move and you groan, "Colby, I need to answer that."
"Answer it. I'm not stopping." He leans up and you quickly grab your phone, "please don't say a thing."
He smirks at your plea and shrugs, "My mouth will be full don't worry."
You answer the phone, sounding like you just woke up, "Hello."
"Hey," Avery says, "What are you doing?" Your eyes fix on Colby bending up your legs and pushing them up and away from him, "Trying to wake up." You laugh slightly, gasping quietly when Colby's tongue presses to your clit.
I mean, he did give you a few minutes of talking normal to your fiancÊ, so you can't be mad.
"Yeah." Avery laughs anxiously, "Sorry about that."
You hum in response, mainly towards Colby slipping a finger into your soaked cunt, "No.. it's fine." You breathe out and Avery stays quiet for a few seconds, "Doesn't sound fine."
You know this is turning into an argument. The anger rising within you, is starting to make you not want to care if they hear another person making you cum.
You arch your back up off the bed as Colby adds another finger and you manage to choke out words, "What's that supposed to mean?"
"You huffed when you said it's fine." Avery says, a hint of anger dashing their words, "No. no. You know what. You come home today, I don't want to fight with you. I shouldn't have even brang it up."
You look down at Colby who is staring up at you, beautifully to add. His fingers thrust into you at a slow pace, curling up ward right when you needed him to.
You felt awful for being on the phone with your fiancÊ while Colby Brock is knuckle need in your pussy.
Also, turned you on in such a way that could never ever be waterboarded out of you.
"Avery." You say, pausing as Colby moves to rub your clit with his other hand, "I just woke up." You breathe out, turning it into a fake yawn, "What's going on with you?"
They take a breath and start speaking, "I just wanted to call and say that I love you so much and I'm so excited to see you today. You're going to make sure a beautiful wife. My beautiful wife."
Your stomach drops and you get that same  gut feeling that you got when you were on the phone with them.
Your whole demeanor changes and Colby notices, stopping his actions as he sits up. You hold your hand out to him displaying one finger and he nods.
You move to sit up, "Avery.. what's going on?"
"What do you mean what's going on?" They ask and you rest your head in your foreheads, "I don't know, you must haven't ever called me to tell me you love me like this before."
You mainly repeat it just so Colby can know what's going on. You lay back down and roll your hips towards him. He smiles, taking the hint right away.
He leans down, tongue sliding in between your folds and you fight back a moan. Luckily, it was Avery's turn to speak.
"I'm just.." they sigh and you bite down on your lip, waiting for them to continue, "I'm nervous but so excited about the wedding I just wanted to tell you that I love you."
Their excuse didn't sit right with you.
"Oh." You laugh slightly, "I see. Well.. I love you, too, baby."
Your words made Colby's grip tighter on your hips. You look down at him just as he rises to his knees, hand gripping the base of this cock as he slides it against your glistening cunt.
You know this was going to be hard.
"What time does your flight get in?" Avery asks and you hum as you keep your lips pressed together, "Five.. I think."
Colby pushes his cock in and you lay a hand over your mouth, "Fuck." You quickly cover it up with a laugh, "I'm so excited to see you."
Colby thrusts his cock deeper into you and you clench your jaw as you close your eyes. He lifts your right leg, placing his hand flat against the back of your thigh so he can push it back.
You fight back the moan from the new angle his cock is  sliding in and out of.
"That's the spirit." Avery laughs and you weren't sure, but you thought you heard the sound of a distant door shutting, "Alright, I think I'll let you go back to sleep."
"Mm." You hum lowly, "Okay." You lay your left hand on Colby's as you keep the phone pressed to your ear.
He leans down, replacing his hand on your leg with his bicep so he can interlock his fingers with yours. You squeeze his hand and tilt your head back, "Wait." You laugh, trying to make it a funny story, "Hadley and I were at the bar and you'll never guess who I seen leaving just as we got there."
The lying is good, keep it going. Avery hums, "Mm, I'm not sure."
"Colby Brock." Your eyes meet his and his gives you a wink, followed by a cocky grin. He didn't give a fuck about your finances feelings.
Only yours.
Colby really didn't you. He thought you were literally the perfect girl ever for him. He wanted you so bad that he sprinted to you at every call or text.
He wanted to be yours just as much as he wanted you to be his.
"I'm not su- wait." Avery laughs, "Colby Brock, isn't he the.. fuck, what do we call it?" They pause for a minute and you ask, "Hall pass?"
You smirk at Colby and take your hand from his grasp, moving it to place your fingers on either side of his slowly moving cock.
He fights back groaning at the sight and you bite down on your lip as Avery laughs, "That's wild. What did Hadley have to say?"
"She pointed him out as he was waking away and all she said was, How often does that shit fucking happen." You answer, sliding your fingers up to your clit.
Your eyes stay locked on Colby's as you continue to speak, "She asked if that meant I could have sex with him and I said no. Avery wouldn't like that very much."
A laugh leaves their lips and Colby bites down on his, smirking as he shakes his head.
"Exactly. I would in fact, not like that. Thank you, baby." They sigh, "Alright. I'm going to bed. I love you."
"I love you." You whisper, "Mhm.. bye." You hear the three little beeps and toss your phone off the bed, sitting up at you reach up to grab Colby's neck slightly rough,"fuck me good."
Colby smirks, taking your hand from his neck and pins it above your head. He does the same with your other one. He holds both of your wrists against the mattress with one of his hands as he holds his weight up on his left arm.
Your legs wrap around his waist and your arms go to his neck, tangling your fingers in his hair as his thrusts speed up.
His face is buried in your neck, leaving little love bites on where he can kiss. He whimpers out quietly, "I can love you better than they can." He kisses up your neck, whispering in your ear, "I can fuck you better than they can."
He lets go of your hands and you instantly sig your nails into his back, squeezing his cock with the walls of your soaked cunt.
You drag your nails upward which causes a groan leaves Colby's lips, "Fuck, baby."
He lifts his head to look at you, "Stay. Please." He presses a sloppy kiss to your lips, whimper the next words against them, "Stay with me."
You bit your lip, "C-Colby.. wh-"
"Y/n." Colby moans out quietly, his forehead resting against yours, his eyes on you, "We work. I know you know we do."
You arch your back, rolling your hips to meet his, "Fuck.." you moan, looking up at him, "Yeah." You breathe out, "We do. We do, baby."
"Fuck." Colby groans, "As soon as I saw you." Colby shakes his head, letting out a sigh, "I just fucking knew that you were who I needed in my life."
You smile, panting as your orgasm is teetering on the edge, "F-Fuck, s-so cl-" Colby lays a hand on your clit and you gasp, nodding as he runs fast circles with his fingers.
"Fuck. Fuck." You moan out loudly, "C-Colby." You cling to him, moaning constantly as your body explodes with fireworks. Your walls pulsate around him as he kisses your neck, moving up to kiss your lips.
You feel his cock twitch inside of you and you use your ankles, that are interlocked behind his back, to pull him in closer to you.
You could tell that he loved it.
"Fuck." He groans out, a smile on his face, "So fucking good for me." He presses a kiss to your temple and slowly pulls out, "Come on."
Colby stands up and holds his hand out, waiting to lead you to the shower with him. You smile as you sit up, taking his hand to follow.
He walks in, closing the door behind you and you go to turn the water on. You turn to face him, "I think.." you swallow, she's searching the ground as you the strength to say it out loud.
"What's going on?" Colby is hesitant now, unsure if you're going to say anything towards him.
You bite your lip and try to fight back crying, "I think Avery is cheating on me." You keep your eyes on your feet you quickly see Colby's before he tilts your head up to look at him.
"What makes you think that?" Colby asks, thumb rubbing over your cheek. You sigh and nod towards the steamy shower, "Come on."
You pull him back and get into the shower with him. The warm water rushing over both of your bodies.
"They said they went to Cam's house and I've heard from multiple people that Cam doesn't like me. And then they call me at five am and wants to tell me how much they love me?"
Colby keeps his hands on your waist, nodding as he continues to let you rant, "I just.. usually that isn't a good sigh. I've been through something like this before with another person and they were in fact cheating."
You take a breath and Colby cups your cheeks, "You deserve someone who worships you. Who love you inside and out."
Was he referring to himself?
He places a gentle kiss on your lips but that quickly grows into a slow, hands groping each other make out.
"I just.." Colby sighs, "Fuck."
"Say it." You urge him, "Tell me."
Colby's hands slide up to the sides of your neck. His eyes search your face, "I.. I don't want to scare you away."
You shake your head, "You won't." Your eyes stare into his and he nods, "I honestly.. think I may be falling in love with you."
You nod, "I think.. I may be falling.. in love with you, too."

It's interesting that when Keeley is telling Ted about the implications of that photo of him and her leaking to The Sun, she says "Jamie is going to go mental" but it's not followed up with "he's going to think i cheated on him" or "he's going to break up with me" or "it's going to ruin our relationship" it's instead followed up by, "there's going to be photographers all over us!" And later when she's talking to Rebecca it's, "My god, Jamie would've been so pissed off with reporters poking around in our love life." There's something to be said for like, she never once expresses doubt that Jamie won't hear her out on the truth or believe what she tells him. The major focus of her concern is just keeping their business out of the press. Their relationship in season one is far from perfect but there's a lot of implicit trust between them.

A place filled with infatuated young adults, alcohol pouring from bottles to glasses and from glasses directly to throats. Sometimes, glasses are even out of the equation.
A young man walking towards an empty room with a beautiful young woman by his side, neither thinking straight, both giving in to the lewd thoughts and desire.
The downing feeling of being betrayed by someone you love, the void consuming you as you easily caught them.
That was what happened the first time Jake cheated on you.
Yes, the ‘first’ time. It was an error, a mistake. At least that was what he pleaded. But then it happened again. And again.
The fifth time you caught him, you had enough. You broke up with him for good. It felt liberating, like a heavy load was lifted off your shoulders. You couldn’t explain to yourself why you didn’t leave the first time.
He didn’t say much, except he didn’t particularly want to see you again.
I know, right? You should’ve been the one to say that. Of course, you disagreed. That would’ve been boring.
Even if your feelings for him had diminished over time until entirely expired, it didn’t mean he had the right to treat you the way he did.
Therefore, instead of avoiding him at all costs, you showed up at his usual spots on purpose.
He didn’t want to see you? You were going to make him look at you. Every. Single. Day. So he wouldn’t forget you that easily.
You weren’t usually a revenge type of person, but you felt like he deserved it.
Although I left, I'm not gone It's funny how every day you say that you moved on I hope that everywhere you go and everything you do You'll never forget me, I'll be watching you
After getting a glimpse of you, his friends would ask Jake if he was okay. He’d say the same thing over and over again.
“I’ve moved on guys, I’m good.”
And he believed it, at first. He’d find another person and it would be nice and new, but then would come the intercourse and his mind would be filled with you. He’d reproach the resemblance between the two of you.
He was looking for a pretty girl he could forget you with. Two, eight, twelve… No matter how many people he’d sleep with, he would still see your face and secretly wish it was you with him.
And when you take her home, you're kissing someone new You'll be wishing it was me on top of you And when she's in your bed, I'll be in your head You'll be thinking 'bout me instead
He felt like you were haunting him and blamed it on the fact he saw you every day. It was your fault he felt this way. You were the only one who could free him.
One Saturday night, at a party held by a common friend, Jake found you outside, a half empty glass in hand, dancing with your friends.
Even if he saw you often, it dawned on him that you looked beautiful every time. Almost like a precious jewel in a museum. An unreachable treasure.
He walked up to you and grabbed your wrist, pulling you out of the crowded space.
Smirking, you followed him without a word.
He stopped when you reached a more secluded area, but not too far from the front door.
“Y/N,” he breathed, taking in your revealing dress up close.
“Jake,” you said coldly. “What do you want?”
He reluctantly let go of your hand and you crossed your arms.
“I can’t get you out of my mind.”
You laughed internally. Perfect.
I kinda like it when I'm fucking with your head I kinda like the games I play, I smile when I see you upset
“How is that my problem?” you asked before sipping on your cocktail by the straw.
“Be with me. Let’s start again, yeah?”
You couldn’t stop the loud scoff that left your lips. He looked desperate and pathetic.
“I don’t buy back the stuff I sell, Jake. What, you’re missing me? You wish we were still a thing? Maybe you should’ve thought about me when you cheated. Multiple times, may I add. It’s over. We will never get back together.”
Everything was said calmly, yet firmly. Your plan worked, he was hurting. That was all you wished for.
“Y/N… I’m sorry. I never meant to hurt you. I was wrong.”
“You must be kidding me. It’s a little late for an apology now, don’t you think?”
“You don’t understand…” he pleaded. “All I think about is you. You’re intoxicating.”
“Damn right I am, yet you still went and betrayed me not one time, but five!”
He gulped, avoiding your gaze.
“More than that?” What else was there to say, honestly? He never cared for you. “You know what? I think we’re done here.”
You started to leave, but he took your hand.
You harshly pulled away and slapped him with all the strength you had.
He fell on the muddy floor, soaking his clothes. He put his hand over his reddening cheek, too stunned to speak.
“I said, we’re done.”
You get what you give when you mess with me
You left him there and went back to your friends.
“Ah, shit, my glass is empty,” you sighed. “That sucks.”
You excused yourself and went to the kitchen.
“That was some epic punch back there.”
Pouring yourself a glass of your favorite cocktail, you didn’t look up. No need, you already knew who it was.
“Thanks, Jen.”
“Honestly, he had it coming. What a powerful queen move, Y/Nie.”
She bitched over your ex for about five minutes, during which you concentrated on the effects of the alcohol in your veins and the deafening music playing in the living room, barely hearing her.
“Jen,” you called, interrupting her, “I’m gonna go. Enjoy the rest of the night.”
“Oh—sure, do you want me to drop you off? I haven’t drank a single drop.”
It was true, you should know as you spent your night with her.
“Are you sure? Don’t you want to stay?”
“Nah, these parties aren’t what they used to be.”
Finishing your glass in one go, you grabbed your coat on the way out. Most of your friends were still outside. You both said bye and left the property, no sign of Jake anywhere, except the traces of his body in the mud.
“You look happy,” she commented, opening the car door for you.
“Thanks. Yeah, that slap felt amazing.”
She started driving towards your house. “What are you gonna do, now?”
“Now that I’m done haunting him, I’m gonna focus on my life.”
Wondering what happened to Jake after that?
He had a hard time forgetting you. Even if you stopped showing up, it took him about six months to move on. You scarred him for life, though.
He won’t cheat ever again, I’m telling you!
