My lover is sleeping

Synopsis: Billie greets your sleeping body in bed after a long night working.

Warnings: billie x fem!reader, established relationship, fluff, blurb

A/n: I think I’m gonna start posting more short blurbs. I have lots of ideas for one-shots, but less fully fleshed out ideas. Lmk if you wanna see anything in particular, please!

You’re slowly clambering into bed, too tired to continue waiting up for Billie to come home from an event. But you’ve left the lamp in the front room lit so that your girlfriend can see her way around. As you’re lying in bed, dipping in and out of sleep, you hear the front door’s lock turn and Billie step into the house. She gently calls for you, “baby?”, careful not to wake you up in case you were already asleep. Too exhausted to reply, you silently remain unmoving in the bed.

Five minutes pass with small noises coming from around the house - Billie is evidently getting herself ready to join you in bed. You’ve since slipped back into your slumber until you feel the bed dip next to you. Weary lips are pressed to your cheek and you can sense Billie’s warm body hovering over you, the strands of her hair tickling your neck.

“Hi, pretty baby” you mumble with a blissful smile. “Hi, angel. I didnt mean to wake you up - just wanted to give you a kiss” she whispers against your cheek. “I’m glad you’re here” you reply as you attempt to pry your eyelids open slightly - desperate to get a quick look at your girl.

Billie pulls back and takes her hoodie off, leaving her in a big baggy shirt and her underwear. Now that she’s ready for bed, she lowers her body to be resting alongside yours and cuddles into you. “Come here” Bille requests as she uses her arms to tug you closer to her own body. “Mmm” you hum. “How was your day?” you ask, nuzzling your head into her neck.

“Long” Billie simply states. “I’m sorry, I wanted to wait up for you but my meds have hit and my eyes were stinging” you tell her in a silly tone.

“S’okay, baby, it’s over now. Just wanna love on you” Billie says, her far hand reaching up and caressing your hair, her nails lightly scratching your scalp with each stroke. Wordlessly, you respond by leaving a kiss on her neck. There’s no need for unnecessary words between you, Billie knows that you missed her touch just as much as she missed yours.

She uses her hand in your hair to delicately pull your head back. Knowingly, you follow her request and lean into her lips, both of you sharing a simple, delicate, but loving kiss.

Billie pulls away, allowing you to rest your head in the crook of her neck again. “I love you, pretty girl” she says. “I love you more” you repond with a giggle, your eyes now glued shut with the promise of impending sleep. Billie pulls her body down to be resting more comfortably between your body and the pillow. “Impossible”, she whispers, as sleep quickly takes over both of your bodies.

The last episode of the second season of Heartstopper closes with Nick looking at Charlie as he walks home to a song that says

You're so pretty when you smile, it kills me

Like are you kidding me. This is gut-wrenching and so romantic like this show really said yes, as a gay man you get to have this now, you get to have all the romance and all the cringe and all the feelings and all the beauty of true love. Honestly 15 year old me (that was a while ago) would have not believed that I would have witnessed something like this in my lifetime.
