hey there sweetheart and Ramadan Mubarak <3! firstly i'm so sorry that it took me so long to respond to the ask! im ashamed it took me a year honestly. requests are closed but i still wanted to be able to write for this because we obviously need more muslim representation and also the last time i posted the muslim hc for damian there were just so many of the readers who texted me or sent asks or commented saying that they really appreciated the representation

anyways i wasn't sure if i was going to respond or not because it has been a year but since it is currently Ramadan and it's going to end very soon I figured why not

also i know that there is a very slim chance of this happening because all of you are amazing but i will not tolerate any hate of any kind. if you

your first Ramadan after being married to Damian was certainly a new experience

before being married, you were just used to your parents handling everything for you

by the time you wake up for suhoor, the table would be set

by the time you'd be home from university, your mother would be waiting by the door with a date and a glass of water

so now that you were married and you had to handle everything on your own, it took a little bit of getting used to

luckily for you, Damian is a very hands on type of man

he's the kind of person who'd just drink a cup of water or a glass of milk, maybe a couple of dates or a fruit and he'd be ok for the remainder of the day

but god forbid you even think of doing the same thing

he'd just about have a heart attack

absolutely not

initially, he'd request Alfred to make meals for you so he could bring them home for the both of you to have suhoor together

just until the both of you got the hang of it

after that damian would either help you cook before patrol so there would be food ready for the both of you

or he'd swing by some restaurant that was open and grab some takeout for the both of you

he'd heat up the food and set the table and making sure everything was absolutely ready before finally waking you up

practically carrying your sleepyass to the table and handfeeding you so he can make sure you're eating properly

since he handles suhoor, you handle iftar and keep the table set so you can eat together

you could always just stay at the manor so you wouldn't have to worry about the meals, like bruce or dick have suggested so many times

but you prefer living alone with your husband

no offense to them at all

but it's just easier for you to maintain your modesty at your own home

anyways

your marriage gets really tested during Ramadan

the two of you are barely getting any sleep and it's difficult for you both to get used to

the only time that you both spend together and are completely present is when he should be patrolling

the lack of sleep makes you both kind of cranky

and it's difficult to not snap at each other

eventually you both get pretty tired and exhausted and just slip into routine

but of course it's nothing some sleep and some time spent together can't solve

and since you've been trying to reduce watching movies and listening to music during the holy month, you end up playing board games together or going for long drives together where you just talk and talk and talk

you thought you were extremely secure in your marriage

that was until you saw damian pout and give you the silent treatment after losing a game of gin rummy

then claiming you shouldn't be playing a game called 'jinn' in the first place

not swearing or talking shit during ramadan was especially hard for him

especially with tim and steph yelling 'fi ramadan?' at him everytime he makes even the slightest snide comment

you find it hilarious but i digress

whenever you go to the masjid for nightly prayers, damian and you will go and find a new ice cream place to try out late at night

you mention in passing how the women's side of the mosque is so bland compared to the men's and damian immediately looks into getting the mosque refurbished so that you and other women can enjoy it

damian's shoes get stolen once and the great detective actually couldn't find out who it was

you hear him complain about it constantly

“Our organization, Victims of Hero Sanctioned Violence, thanks you all for your time this evening. With your contributions and willingness to report the truth, we will someday truly have that brighter future we have been promised for all of these years.”

The crowd erupts and Deku rolls his eyes, resting his cheek against his raised fist. There’s no need for over the top formality, you sat him at a table with hecklers who have long since abandoned him to go and spend their evening at the front egging you on. His tie is loosened and his shirt is unbuttoned, messy green waves drooping now that the gel he slicked them back with has started to lose its effectiveness.

You’re only here for her, he reminds himself. 

Whatever exists between the two of you is tentative and unnamed at best yet he’s nothing but a moth to your flame, floating frantically around the light you emanate with so little effort. Everyone in this room is obsessed with you, devouring every single thing that you say like animals drinking from a lake after a drought. 

He hates them. 

His fist flexes against his face and he shifts his posture again, legs spread beneath the tablecloth. A petty part of him hopes that you see his unbotheredness through his positioning alone, clearly disinterested in hearing the latest stats regarding property damage and long term disabilities caused by pro heroes. It’s not his business. He has people who regularly deal with this sort of thing yet here he sits, reaching to further loosen his tie when he feels your dark eyes drift to him, your heels carrying you from the stage and through the crowd that attempts to stop and speak with you every few feet.

This is where he rises, pushing his chair out from the table in front of it, ready to act as a shield between you and these people who believe they’re entitled to access to you merely because they agree with your beliefs. Sauntering toward you, he positions himself between you and the crowd, and places a hand on your shoulder.

“Nice of you to finally do something to protect someone for once, Deku.” 

A member of the crowd spits and he turns his head, emerald eyes gleaming, ready to bite back. You lift your hand and wrap it around his forearm, squeezing once, silently begging him not to make a scene. Scoffing loudly enough that you can hear it, he raises a brow and keeps his gaze trained on the man who apparently has so much to say, watching him realize how outmatched he is in mere moments. The man bows his head and heads in the opposite direction of where the two of you are going, the hallway outside of the banquet room. 

“How can you let them talk to me like that?” He asks and you giggle, squeezing his arm. 

Your fingers don’t meet where they’re wrapped around it and heat rises in your face envisioning something else that your fingers don’t quite meet when they’re wrapped around, gaze dancing up Izuku’s body until they reach his face. Equal parts chiseled and boyish. Perfect. You hate even looking at him yet here you stand, sharing space and four of your five senses with him. 

The final sense, taste, will come later if the way you are looking at him has anything to do with it.

For now though, there is more important business to attend like the intense hunch of his shoulders and the line that is developing between his brows from all of this scowling. 

“They have the right to say what they’re thinking, Midoriya.” You finally speak now that you are released from the overheated hall, taking a deep breath of fresh cool air to calm your nerves and send that rising warmth in your body back to where it came from. “Being a pro hero doesn’t shield you from criticism, it only makes you less likely to hear it in the first place.” 

He chuckles and that heat you were attempting to will away returns in an instant, cheeks and chest and parts even lower aflame just at the sound of his voice. You shouldn’t even be humoring him, much less actively wanting him, silently scolding yourself to keep it professional despite his obvious attraction to you. He wouldn’t be here if he didn’t want you, the woman beneath the carefully crafted facade you keep up.

“Yeah but it’s not very nice, is it? I didn’t call that guy a loser to his face and I should have.”

Snorting, you shake your head and glance up at him, those doe-like eyes blinking so prettily all he can do is match you. Open, close, open, close. Perfectly synced like your breaths. Easy, just as he seems to have found the coat closet, pushing the door open and pulling you in behind him. 

“I can’t force them to be nice to you. Remember, you volunteered to be here to represent all pro heroes, not just yourself.”

Izuku spins you so that you face him, chest pressed against his torso, face barely coming chin level to his massive pectorals. Your eyes dip to the exposed skin at his collar and you bite your lower lip without thinking, his hands sliding over your hips and ass, gently squeezing and massaging the flesh beneath your silk dress.

“Okay but how are you going to make it up to me?”

You roll your eyes and look up at him, letting your arms rest near his belt, taking your time undoing the buckle.

in this fun little drag-you-by-your-ears-and-force-you-to-listen-to-me, we’ll be talking about javey. 

obviously, javey is the lifeblood behind most of this lovely fandom. look at your own account. besides the synchronized dance numbers, it’s about the most the majority of us agree on (with a few exceptions, but we love them anyway <3333 /j)

but why is javey such a phenomenon to us? why is it that big of a deal? let’s explore that. 

javey is, in simple terms, something that can quickly become revolutionary. 

don’t understand what I mean? consider it-

most of us headcanon jack to be a person of color. whether he’s black, or of latinx descent, jack is not normally white. in a lot of cases, people don’t even believe english to be his first language. with these very intentional choices, you are already taking marginalized groups, and giving them a voice. groups, that for most of history, have been shunned, or outright ignored. and to see jack kelly, a character not defined by his parentage or skin color, simply *living*. making choices, mistakes, wrong decisions, without being turned into a performative political message by a major corporation. he’s just jack kelly. and his existence speaks louder than words ever could. 

and all of this can be said before we even mention what else he could represent, could mean to all of us. 

he’s a kid from the streets, or the more modernized foster care. he’s not the sad, lonely, discouraged orphan kid that needs saving. no, jack kelly is going to get off his ass, and do it himself. he’ll run away. earn a living. he is our defiance, he is our rebellion and independence. 

he has dreams, big ones. ones that we relate to. he wants to run to santa fe? well, guess fucking what? we do, too. wants to be given a little respect, a little worth? maybe we relate to that. 

he is the poster child of found family. and I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but we’re all pretty big on that in this fandom. 

so, let’s put it this way- jack is a lot of us. most of us, maybe. 

but so is davey. 

davey is a canonically (or maybe not, but I say it’s canon) jewish character. in a world that reeks of antisemitism, that is ridiculously important. he, too, represents more than just himself. there is a whole history of a people hated and brutally punished for simply existing. he is another character who isn’t restricted, forced to be but yet another stereotype or one-note idea, but who just exists. you don’t realize how huge that is. representation and the explicitness of modern media is great, and very much needed. but it is just as powerful, if not more so, to let a character be without making it a display. 

to compound this all, he is the epitome of religious struggles. our davey has internalized homophobia, self-hatred, and more crises in faith than he has time to count. and I would say at least half of the people that I have met in this fandom can identify with one or more of those things. that’s valuable. especially when you consider that a lot of those things are essentially taboo in a number of regards. 

he’s from a working class family. he’s not rich, not swimming in bills. he’s missing school every day to go to work so his family might eat the next week. and that’s a reality for a lot of people. 

putting them together, we have- a man, a person of color, who has seen the shit end of life that a lot of other people do, falling in love with another man, one burdened with mental struggles and a heritage that carries just as much weight as the heaviest, in a time period when it was literally illegal to do so. 

they are people. they are representations. they are silent messages to the world. they are love. they are queer. they are happy. they are a family. they are revolutionary. they aren’t wrong. they aren’t broken. they aren’t hate. 

javey thrives because they are us, and by letting them thrive, we are hoping we will, too.

Metal Lords: movie review

summary of plot (no spoilers): a dorky awkward kid named Kevin is friends with this wannabe metalhead named Hunter. they're starting a band together but because of their flaws, their progress fumbles a bit. however, after finding out about their schools Battle of the Bands, they start working to prepare for the contest. as they improve their skills, they also improve their social lives and their own personalities

general thoughts: I GENUINELY LOVED THIS MOVIE SM????? god if youre into movies about a buncha flawed misfit friends then this is definitely a movie i'd recommend. the first few bits are a little awkward because you can kinda feel that the actors are still getting into their roles, but sticking it to the end is ABSOLUTELY worth it. all of the characters were so lovable and it genuinely filled that "i wanna see a movie about people just being people" hole in my heart. i still have no idea how to describe those kind of movies, but i feel like if yknow then youll know.

LOVED KEVIN TOO BUT MAN I THINK EMILY IS MY FAVORITE. i loved all of her moments sm???? she has a lotta flaws but theyre honestly all reasonable and understandable to me so i kinda just forgive her for them anyways. i also just really love how sweet kevin is to her. like ofc he's not a perfect boyfriend and makes some slipups, but he genuinely really cares about her and i think it's so cute to watch.

more about me loving emily: I LOVED THE FACT THAT SHE DIDNT FORGIVE HUNTER RIGHT AWAY. LIKE IT WOULDVE BEEN COOL TO SEE, BUT THE PAYOFF AT THE BATTLE OF THE BANDS WAS EVEN BETTER. SPEAKING OF WHICH, SHE WAS SOOOOO FUCKING COOLIN THAT SCENE??????? SHE WAS COOL AS FUCK BEFORE THAT (u cannot tell me her cello playing wasnt the most badass thing out there) AND THEN THEFUCKING CCONNNCERRTTT??? IM CRYING I LOVE HER SOMUCCHHCH

i also really loved hunter. like there was a lotta scenes where i wanted somebody to punch him in the face, but he was honestly still lovable even throughout those scenes and he started improving a lot near the end, which was really nice to see. he obviously wasn't completely redeemable since there were still a lot of things he could've done better, but i feel like the fact that he didn't completely become perfect is what made me love his character a lot more. it felt really real to me. he isn't perfect, but he genuinely wants to make up for the shit he's pulled and he's absolutely trying to show it, and isn't that what living's all about anyways? either way, we love hunter in this household <3333

KEVIN'S TIME TO SHINE: that was a lie, i dont have much to say on kevin LMFAO. i absolutely loved seeing him on screen and i just love Jaeden Martell in general, but despite that, there's not really a lot for me to say about him. i just think he's neat. that's enough for me <3333 (emily shouldve been my girlfriend tho smh how dare he /j)

you hated him and he hated you; the feeling was mutual. you two were both in the running for a championship, as were the 18 other drivers on the grid but it was something about you two. 

from the very start of the season, you won the first race, carlos in p2. the following race, he won and you were p2. it was back and forth through the season, not always a 1-2 but you swapped places on the leaderboard the whole way through. 

three races before summer break, carlos came to find you, telling you you two need to work for the benefit of the team - no more fighting so you agree; for the sake of the team of course. 

you two ended up realizing when you weren't busy hating each other’s guts, you were pretty reasonable together. 

until the final race before summer break; carlos turned into you, you were in the running for p1 that race but he tried to overtake, turning into you and spinning you both into the gravel and thus the barrier -- making it a double DNF for ferrari before the break. 

you were gutted, you wanted to strangle the man; of course you didn’t go to his driver’s room with that intention but you did have a few harsh words for him. 

you started on him, shouting at him about how he could be so stupid; he threw points for both of you and the team, he couldn’t have waited for the straight to over take? 

carlos was in your face, you two were inches apart, face to face when he finally broke and just kissed you. 

you didn’t want to kiss him back but your body reacted before your brain did; the two of you ended up on the floor of his driver’s room. 

bodies entangled, hands and lips everywhere, hushed words and not a soul could find out about this. 

it happened again in your hotel room later than night; turns out your necklace slipped off in his room and he found it before rupert did. (thankfully) 

you were passive towards him, wanting him to leave you alone. fucking him was a mistake, a way to relieve the tension. 

you just ended up bent over the counter in your bathroom, then the bed and then somehow on the couch. 

carlos didn’t hear from you all break, you two went back to usual routine of putting on a happy face for the crowd but playing dirty on track. it fizzled put behind the curtains, you two ended up together more nights than not and the man found you in his bed most nights. 

it was the final race of the season, saturday post quali and you two finally got back to the hotel. 

you were starting p2 and he was p3. he came to see you and of course you ended up in bed again. 

carlos’s arm was around you, your head on his chest as you two laid in silence. “you know, I was thinking,” he trails off and you look up at him. 

“about?” you ask, rolling onto your stomach to look at him properly. 

“us,” he says. your brows furrow before you speak. “there’s an us?” 

“there could be.. if you wanted there to be.” 

you sit up and look at the man, “are you asking me to be your girlfriend ?” 

“I mean.. yeah.” he smiles. 

“okay, yeah.” you smile, your hand resting on his chest. “we can do that, but it doesn't mean I'm going easy on you tomorrow.” 

“I knew you wouldn’t; plus you know I like it when you’re rough.” he teases, pulling you down for a kiss.

Makoto takes the blame for what's been done with the 77th class. Byakuya is not very happy about this.

“Look, I know it sounds bad-”

“It “sounds bad,” Naegi?” Byakuya growls, glaring furiously at his friend. “It sounds bad? You are being tried for treason, and alone! Tell me that there is anything salvageable in this?”

He can see Makoto just barely shudder in the gloom- it’s night, and they’re in one of the cottages with no lighting to speak of, other than the rising moon and the determined glint in Makoto’s eyes.

Makoto takes a breath, then calmly responds, in a tone Byakuya has heard him recite a hundred times; “It was all my idea, Togami. It’s only fair that I take the responsibility for this.”

“Fairness?” He scoffs, parting from his place against the door to step towards Makoto, who has stood stiffly in the middle of the room since Byakuya dragged him here. “Do you really think they care for fairness? Do you think fairness matters out here?”

Makoto drags his gaze down, a twinge of nervousness sparking. It’s a terrible look on him, but Byakuya must keep in mind that it’s better that he doubts what he’s done every once in a while. “You can’t keep on like this, Naegi.” He berrates, “you can only skate by on the goodwill of your name alone for so long. Our time is up, and it’s cruel-”

“It’s not cruel.” Makoto shoots up immediately, clearly taking offense. “I-I’m sorry, I get it, but I dragged you guys into this. It’s my problem, you guys don’t deserve to get punished for doing what I said.”

“You say that as though we’re mindless drones.” He takes a few steps closer, sealing the distance between them so that he can tower over the shorter man. “We have helped you because you know better than to thoughtlessly massacre your enemies. We chose to help because it’s the right choice. We did this because we wanted to, and it’s only right that Kirigiri and I would stand alongside you as equals.”

Makoto grimaces, staying quiet for a few long moments as he seems to contemplate his statement. Of course, it is to refute him.

“I know.” He sighs suddenly, continuing to hold himself in a tense position. There’s some conflict in his eyes before he dons a softer look. A ray of moonlight peers in from the open window, just in time to catch Makoto’s hazel eyes, staring up at him. “But I can’t let anyone else get hurt. Whatever they do, at least it’ll only be done to one of us. It’s not so bad, then.”

“It’s worse because it’s happening to you.” He grits his teeth, but can feel his frustration melt under that look. A little part of Byakuya hates Makoto, for how he acts and thinks; his self-sacrificing. “I see you die enough for all those people you speak to.” He grabs Makoto’s wrist, keeping his grip loose despite his own wants. “Don’t let the Foundation take you again.”

Makoto keeps his kind yet solemn expression, as if he’d already resolved to do this long before anyone thought they would be caught. Which he most certainly has, behind their backs. Resigning himself to suffer alone, again.

“I can’t back out of this, Togami.” He shakes his head, slowly trying to sidestep him. “They need someone. They’ll want to make sure I can still work and stuff.” A hint of a smile, as he finally turns them around, so that Makoto’s back is to the door. “I’m the Ultimate Hope. I’m sure they’ll be a little nicer to me.”

Makoto tries to slip out of his grip, but he tightens it, tugging him back to draw their gazes together.

Byakuya can’t keep all the frustrated terror from his voice as he again tries to appeal. “Stay with me. Please.”

Makoto doesn’t say anything. Again, he pulls himself away, and Byakuya can’t force himself to keep him. He draws into the shadow, where the moonlight fails to reach, only the faint light of his eyes to pierce the gloom.

“I will stay with you.” He responds, gripping the doorknob. “After this. Please, just let me do this.”

The plea for a promise sits on the tip of his tongue. But Byakuya doesn’t say anything but a curse, long after Makoto has left him again.

PLUSHIE SPIDER SENSES YOU'RE SO RIGHT. she would hate people touching them as well, like excuse me they are arranged very particularly do not move them. (except for her s/o. they're the only one allowed to rearrange her plushies, because she knows they will do it with love and care.)

SHE WOULD BE SO SWEET ABOUT IT!! i have slight memory problems too (it's the adhd *sobs*) but she would be so accommodating with that. gentle reminders, no judgement, endless patience.... she wouldn't accept apologies about it either, like you try to say sorry for forgetting one of the plushies she is rolling her eyes and tapping you on the nose and chiding you for apologizing for something you can't control.
