Fargo is a fantastic show and there’s been a lot of moments that have left me stunned, astonished, thrilled, chilled, absolutely blown-away, but bitch…………...I’m telling you…………..in 5 seasons, nothing has ever gotten me to a state of white-knuckled, gripping the chair, shock and awe…………………like that cover of Toxic……………

#I swear I literally gasped and gripped my recliner and my mouth dropped open and stayed there like a cartoon idiot that whole scene #(and yeah the moody atmosphere of the scene itself excellently conveyed the futile circumstances #of being a woman in the clutches of a man’s bruised ego and first brush with consequences #drawing out what we know is coming as Roy walks to that shack and we’re close up on him the whole way #not to attempt to make us the audience empathize with him but to isolate us with the fragile state of his self-worth as his humiliation #makes his abusing women and Dot in particular shed its skin its declarations of justice and faith in god #and show it for what it is: hate and fear and weakness and other things I wanna get into but wont #like yeah that was all good or whatever too)#but BABY CANT YOU SEE……..I’M FALLIIIINN…………#fargo fx #fargo s5 #fargo s5e8

thinking (and rewatching..) inside job again and i dont think rand is that bad of a father? i mean, he made a lot of mistakes and he doesn’t even feel bad ab it, even tho he traumatized reagan and a lot, but he was never absent. he acts like he cared ab reagan’s career just bc it could help his career, but that’s not true. he pushes her to be the best all the time and it’s bad, but he genuinely cares ab her so much. and the whole ‘creating crises to force her to hang out w him’ thing is fucked up, but it’s cute that he just wants to hang out w her that bad. most fathers literally don’t care enough ab their kids to do any of that. most fathers don’t even know their kids as much as he knows her. maybe my standards are just insanely low, probably, but he’s a better parent than 90% of the parents i know

Half a tree fell over in the backyard earlier this week so my dad’s been chopping it up and moving it to our stick pile and I was helping him today but. The tree was blooming when it fell and I’m allergic to the flowers so now I feel gross

edit: so first of all i did it yooo!!!! second of all i had been overthinking this reshi didn’t even have a dragon-type move so fairy typing wasn’t even necessary

yesterday we found a recently eclosed monarch butterfly that had clearly been attacked by a predator. it was leaking green fluid from a missing eye, a tear in its wing, and a hole in its abdomen. i’ve euthanized several injured or deformed butterflies in the past, but for some reason this one just really got to me. i swear it clung to my finger more intensely than any ever has before. and i know i’m anthropomorphizing but i really felt like it was scared and in pain and i’ve cried every time i’ve thought about it since

#it’s still in my freezer. i know technically stomping is the most humane way to euthanize but i can’t bring myself to do it #also i know so many scientists think insects can’t feel pain but i just don’t believe that #they can very obviously feel distress and that’s enough for me to want to minimize their suffering #i’d rather assume they do feel pain and be too kind than assume they don’t and cause unnecessary suffering #a close second was the time we had a black swallowtail that was just weak for no obvious reason and died within an hour of eclosing #just watching it keep trying to climb and fly and repeatedly fail and slowly get weaker was extremely sad #technically didn’t euthanize that one just watched it die #to be clear we don’t actively raise butterflies in captivity just the occasional caterpillar or chrysalis from plants we’re shipping #the monarch was actually not in captivity at all we just saw it outside

I think there’s probably a way to draw a connection between the weak points of the original HP books and JKR’s current campaign of transphobia that’s not silly or trivializing, but sadly most people lack the elegance to pull this off.

#I was thinking about an essay I read #about how much Reagan sucked #and it mentioned that he was a mediocre actor back in the 1940s #and it worked!#I think partly because he used his phony acting style in politics #and the author didn’t lean too hard on bedtime for bonzo #(and by weak points I mean. like. inelegant style choices or wonky worldbuilding)#(if we’re talking about things of moral significance)#(I think the most predictive element is the punitive/suspicious treatment of the female characters)#anyway lots of nice people write books of poor quality
