frankly, the people whose kneejerk reaction to bisan asking for a global strike form the 21st-28th is to say that it takes years to organize a general strike are really unhelpful! no one is saying otherwise, but palestine will be a smoking crater if we all wait for years to do anything - bisan is asking us to do something now. Like are we only supposed to do something if we can do it perfectly??? At some point it’s a valid critique about the work that goes into social movement, and at another point I feel like some people are just trying to absolve themselves from not putting any effort into observing a week of economic inaction.

like idk! I get it, okay! People have bills to pay that don’t magically go away for a strike, we don’t have nearly enough social infrastructure in place to support people to fully stop going to work for a week. But fuck, dude! Stop immediately responding in such a defeatist way! Cut out unnecessary purchases! Try to shop local! Put more effort into promoting Palestinian voices online! Attend a protest, call a local rep, do something!

A CHANGE FOR THE BETTER

Change is the only thing that is constant in this world. That's why our project in entrepreneurship adapted change for the better which is instead of a ring, we plan to make a bracelet instead with the same function and purpose as stated in my previous blog. In this way, our project has a more possibility of existing since bracelet is more bigger than ring, a device that can produce vibration will be attached to it to help the user wake up without disturbing other people. Through this project, a buyer will be assured that they will never be late on their appointments anymore.

The question is, are they really willing to avail this product and trust the outcome of this project?

That's why we conducted an interview to know their opinion and insights about our product. Fortunately most of them said they are willing to buy because they found it useful as long as it's affordable. Some said too that they don't need this since they have a phone and their own personal space to live so they won't disturb anyone.

After listening to their insights we realize that we need to have a more targeted customers that will really need our product. We gained many suggestions and advice too that can greatly help us conduct this project and make this possible.

As of now we're facing trials and challenges but I'm thankful that I have my team to back me up in this journey. As long as we help each other, a product with a great purpose with an effective solution to a usual problem of the students and workers will certainly exist!

My Thoughts and Experience This Pandemic

    Ever since this Pandemic has begun, the 1st month has been a real struggle for me, I can’t interact or play with my friends, which is really a mood killer, usually we play basketball or some sports that all of us can play fairly, the mayor of our town starting to be strict about the rules during this Pandemic like Social Distancing and etc. I thought that was going to be the worst news Im going to hear this Pandemic, but yet the worst part will still come, The Closing of Face to Face Classes has been the worst news I think I have heard during this time of the Pandemic, because school is the place where I make and communicate mostly with my closest friends, meet our teachers and have fun learning. I, myself also experienced anxiety and insomnia during this time of Pandemic, I told my parents about this and they did not hesitate to help me get through this situation, so if you feel also these kind of mental or emotional health conditions, don’t think twice about telling your parents about what your feeling, because they will always be there to help you get through that situation just to make you feel better again.

     My thoughts during this Pandemic is to always to stay positive, even though many bad things has happened in our country, always try to think positive and pray for the people who got affected by the COVID, as well for this Pandemic to end. This Pandemic, this is just like a challenge, but we’ll get through it together because we have God who is always watching and guiding us through this time of Pandemic, not just in this Pandemic, but our whole life. In my thoughts during this Pandemic, let’s trust the government in solving this Pandemic, let’s just not depend or rely on the government, we should also get along with the government so their job will be much easier and problems will start to lessen.

All about my Experiences in this Online Learning

    First day of my online learning wasn’t so bad, everything was normal and smooth-flowing, our wi-fi connection is okay that time, no problems. Then a week passed, I said to myself “Man, online learning isn’t so bad after all, in fact, everything is working out just fine” not knowing many problems and distractions is yet to come. The problem in the internet, problems occurred, the first sign, when a month has passed by, but this isn’t yet my first wave. People who only uses one internet in the same time is really a struggle for online students like me, lagging time to time is our main enemy here, but I know only not the students is experiencing this, so do the teachers. Once the teachers lagged, it’s just like a whole class who stopped by for a second and goes on again, because in this class, our mom is our teacher and seeing your mom having a hard time is really sad and it breaks my heart emotionally, doing the best they can, just to share their knowledge about the subject is really an inspiration to me.

     I can say that this online learning has been really a big struggle for students like me. Since lagging is already a common in this online learning, we should just accept this and adopt in this kind of learning method. Even though many kids doesn’t have a gadgets in this time of Pandemic, we people who have gadgets should make a solution about this and do our part, it is unfair to those kids because missing school can affect their whole life just like that. Let’s all respect and give peace of mind to everyone else who is struggling in this time of Pandemic and online learning. Let’s all hope everyone a good luck and bring back face-to-face classes.

About Life and My Limited Personal Reflections

      Life, it is beautiful indeed, a blessing that God gave us, so unique, a miracle, precious and that only He could make life possible here in this world. Although it is beautiful, but not always, sometimes, in my opinion, big problems or challenges in life is a real reason for this,  but also there’s a benefit in there, not just pain times or failures, sometimes, they make us learn from our mistakes so we’ll never do it again and go on life the way truly God made it. Memories, joyfulness, victory, is all that I could think of to emphasize the words “Happy moments”, there is time where there is “Happy moments” in life, but also the “Sorrow moments”, like misery, sadness, defeat might be the best words to define it. This is common in life, it is impossible that a human being is truly powerful and rich and never experienced struggle or failure in life, well, before being a wealthy man, you should work hard for it, you need to earn it, you need to answer the question “Why do I deserve being a wealthy and rich man?” and of course you need to prove it by actions, not just in words. 

    My life, all I had to do was to study hard for my future to be bright for now, you see, every success must be a struggle first, to give you a lesson that life is not all about living it freely, we must discipline ourselves, God gave us this life and we should protect and take care of it, do the right things to cause no harm to others. I have lived in my body for 13 years and yet I haven’t used it’s complete capability and reach it’s limit, I truly give worth to this body and this mind because this leads me to a great way of life, a great way that can lead me to a straight and to a right path of life. Many problems could come in my journey in this life, but how hard could it be? Life is not a simple thing that can be given to any human soul, do your best to prove you deserve living in a body that only God could give.

All About English Class

      English, one of the most interesting subjects in school, Ms. Christianlyn Magcalayo is my teacher in English class. She’s a really fun teacher and you can always see the energy that she always bring when teaching us, she’s one of the ideal teachers and her way teaching us do not bore me at all. Main Parts of A Sentence is our main topic for the 1st Quarter, I thought that was a basic topic, but sometimes it’s complicated, thankfully, she explained it briefly and properly to us so we were able to understand the topic the way it’s supposed to be. I realized while understanding the topic, it also helps me to correct my grammar when making sentences , not just the grammar, but also the constructing of sentences. It also helps me from talking to people confidently because speaking through them makes me think fast on what to say to him/her in a proper way and in a correct grammar. 

     My thoughts on the English class is so positive, like first, everything you will learn on English, you can apply it in your daily life like speaking to a person in a proper way, so he/she can understand every single sentence you will say to him/her, learning more about English can make me a better English speaker when time comes. Learning English is so fun, especially the teacher who is teaching the subject, if he/she has the right amount of energy to teach the subject, it can be a really great day to learn the subject, because I believe if the teacher has a positive energy, so will do the whole class give the same vibe and energy to make learning so fun. Abdul Kalam once said “Learning gives creativity, Creativity leads to thinking, Thinking provides knowledge, Knowledge makes you great.”

My Reactions On Viewed Books, Documentaries, Articles or Podcasts 

    First of all, reading is fun, as always, we wouldn’t learn some new things if reading isn’t fun. When I was a kid, I only know a one good author, and that is Geronimo Stilton, reading his written books is fun and entertaining when I was a kid, but right now that I’m grade 7, it doesn’t really fits into my interests now, it’s sad, but I think that is a part of growing up. I remember my reflections in Geronimo Stilton when I was a kid, “Never forget to always spend much appreciated and quality time with your family and overcome your fears because that will make you a much changed and better person in the future” My first impression in watching a documentary for the first time is shocked and worried for the people who has starred the documentary, I felt shocked because that is my first time seeing those people who only live in streets and houses that stands on the sea, their suffering just makes me recognize how much life could get worse if you really don’t have decided what to do in the future or to have a straight path in life. 

   Relevant to our current situation right now, many documentaries are made and mostly the topics are based on the people’s experiences during this pandemic or if not, it gives more information about what to know in this pandemic. Me, myself, recommending you to read books that are related to our current situation right now, to give you more information about Covid-19 , how deadly it is and maybe tell you how many more lives of us humans will it take. In this time of Pandemic, I think reading books, watching documentaries that are related in our current situation right now, articles about Covid-19 and podcasts about our everyday life when this Pandemic started can help us get through this situation by giving us a little bit of hope in our hearts or in the people that is not hoping anymore that this Pandemic will ever end, there’s always an end or solution in every problem.

Just A Reflection

The “Handmaid’s Tale” reflects an insight of the expectations that I had as a girl, how there would be people out there that objectify women, and to be very cautious. Due to the daily news about female victims, I grew up with strict family members.

This novel contains moments in life which I could relate to. Growing up, there would be people around me who would attempt to control me, make sure I always behaved like a lady, and implant fears into my mind about how dangerous some people are towards girls or women.

On a personal level, my aunt and grandmother would always remind me to wear very modest clothing. My aunt reminds me of the character Aunt Lydia in the “Handmaid's Tale”. Either it would be a dress or skirt that was over the knee, avoid using tight clothing, or long shirts. Honestly, I still wore what I wanted because my mom was fine as long as I was comfortable or was able to express the style I like. My aunt wore the same type of clothing she would tell me not to wear such as tight jeans or leggings herself, so I never found a reason as to why I would listen to someone who doesn't want me to wear tight jeans. I constantly remind myself to not feed into fear.

The wives in the story would always slut shame the handmaids as they were jealous and they remind me of the few people around me that would criticize friendships between opposite genders. Suspicions and rumors would rise just because some people would assume that friendships between a guy and a girl would automatically mean that they were dating or just more than friends. Some people would ignore it and others would feel pressured to prove that they had nothing more between their friendship.

Offred always heard stories from Aunt Lydia about how women were attacked and unprotected before the development of the Republic of Gilead, I had peers or people around me that experienced such events. Unfortunately, peers from my old school that were victims of assault were told that it was their fault for allowing such things to happen to them. There is no reason for a victim to be blamed for how the predator assaulted them because of how revealing their clothing was or what they wore. Even the women from years ago wore heavy layered clothing covering their entire body and were still raped. It is not a matter of what people wore, it was the horrible behavior, mentality, and decisions made by those sexual predators.

Son limitados los espacios en los que podemos expresarnos de manera autónoma, es común que hasta nos cueste contar nuestras experiencias a familiares, nuestro círculo más cercano. Tal como menciona Rosana Rodríguez, en su artículo El Poder del Testimonio - Experiencia de mujeres publicado en la revista Estudios Feministas: ¨Durante mucho tiempo no hubo espacio para relatos de experiencias femeninas, ya sea ese producto de la violencia patriarcal o de contextos desfavorables y opresivos que nos deslegitiman¨. Adicionalmente, ¨la dificultad que las mujeres tenemos con el lenguaje reside a menudo en la imposibilidad de expresarse de poner palabra a nuestros sentimientos, a nuestros deseos, a nuestras necesidades e intereses, a nuestras experiencias¨ (Rodríguez, 2013). Dificultad que vale la pena superar para modificar imaginarios populares.

Por lo tanto, queremos que este sea un espacio para que las mujeres se aventuren a ponerle palabras a sus experiencias, sin importar que estas aún estén impregnadas de estructuras y socialización de género, según Leonor Calvera, ¨las mujeres en tanto sujetas subalternas, inscribimos nuestras experiencias bajo los umbrales de tolerancia del patriarcado de modo que los relatos siempre fragmentados de nuestras experiencias discontinuas e interrumpidas no tienen la fuerza para lograr el impacto político necesario¨ (Rodríguez, 2013). Creemos importante motivar a mujeres a escribir sus experiencias corporales y emocionales, tal cual lo vivieron, sin importar si estamos de acuerdo o no; es vital recuperar nuestra voz, y reconocer si nuestras palabras son prestadas para comenzar el viaje de búsqueda de las propias.

Es común que nos digan ¡Estás loca! ¡Tranquilízate! cuando hemos querido expresar nuestras frustraciones o sentimientos, ¿te ha pasado? Forma normalizada de deslegitimizarnos y no validar nuestra opinión, pues no es como lo que ¨una mujer debe ser o comportar¨. Nos imponen el silencio cuando nuestras palabras no son convenientes, nos condenan a la soledad, es impronunciable que muchas de nosotras abortamos de manera clandestina, que nos violan nuestros maridos, decidir esterilizarnos porque no queremos ser madres, que el estado nos oprime con su violencia institucional al ser madre soltera, que nos acosan en la calle, laboralmente… entre tantas cosas invisibilizadas.

Nos resistimos a estar silenciadas. De nosotras depende enriquecer nuestro diálogo entre mujeres, que nos confiera dignidad y respeto a lo que queremos decidir sobre nuestros cuerpos, prioridades de vida, relaciones, sexualidad, etc.
