thinking of zoro who doesn't buy flowers for sanji on valentines day but he comes back home with crates full of unique ingredients sanji's been hoping to taste for ages.
or zoro who takes mental note of every little thing sanji touches in the market but regretfully doesn't buy, every piece of fruit or expensive grain his fingers graze over, and doesn't care that his debt with nami will drive him into an early grave – because when sanji isn't looking, he buys them for him.
or the zoro who Does buy flowers. but not for sanji. the zoro who bestows a bouquet of lilies, chrysanthemums, and carnations every year into sanji's hands as delicately as he would lay his swords to rest for the night. they're never really arranged in the most aesthetic way. he only finds the flowers and ties them together with twine and the occasional ribbon.
zoro who buys a valentines bouquet for sanji's mother – who has never gotten a single flower from her husband her whole life and not even on the day she died. the zoro who sanji knows sora would adore. he buys the flowers sanji wishes he gave her and he keeps them in a vase in the galley until the petals aren't as vibrant as the day he got them.

perks of writing older zimbits: strong nonverbal communication, lots of inside jokes, getting to work through jack’s retirement and bitty’s career success, really REALLY tender, peak ride-or-die energy
pitfalls of writing older zimbits: fellas is it weird that jack’s inner monologue still defaults to “bitty” when bitty is a 44-year-old father of three who hasn’t played organized hockey in years

cw: harry potter, jk rowling, transphobia
I occasionally see posts/get messages about the various harry potter references in the bright sessions, etc. and I've gotten a bunch of new followers recently so just so any new/younger listeners of my shows know:
jk rowling is a terrible transphobe whom I hold zero respect for and I haven't given a dime of my money to her since she revealed who she truly is. I want the whole bright universe to be a safe space for trans people (including the trans folks in our cast and crew!) and if I could go back and remove those references, I would. but I can't! harry potter was an extremely significant part of my life until...well, until it became very clear who she really was. it makes me so sad to think that folks might be finding TBS now and get thrown out of the story by these references, but just know that the people who made the show do not stand by jk, and that in many ways, the show is a product of its time.

tw: suicide mention-emotional maipulation
I refuse to believe that kusuo never tried to lose on purpose in one of kusukes games
a lot of people say that he probably was too egocentric to lose but man, ku gives up on things without thinking twice just for the sake of the others
just like when he gave up on satou when he and hii got together (the only example I can come with rn but there is a lot more)
and don't get me wrong, kusuo IS egocentric, but he knows where to trace a line he has a moral code and the principal rule is "don't be an inconvenience to the others"
so there is no way he didn't tried before
kusuke saw through his facade?
kusuke is insane and a masoquist and he has some suicidal behaviour aaand
I can see him telling kusuo to never try to fake a lost again or else he will off himself
idk he just yk, he's emotionally abusive and he's too obsessed with the idea of kusuo and him playing deathly games
TOO obsessed
he even took himself as hostage and he also kidnapped and brainwashed one of his brothers friends
he would say something like that
but I also believe that he wasn't aware of the heigh of those words
(I believe that he isn't aware of the heigh of all his actions, he just have a really twisted view of what is wrong and right)
I see this kind of scenario happening when they were young, when kusuo stopped copying his older brother (the motorcycle, the little cardboard robot, rock papper scissors, guys he was copying his older brother cuz he thought he was cool) and started to feel some resentment or even pity towards him
kusuke wouldn't take pityness very well, resentment? dont care, being hated? kay whatever but feeling any form of empathy or pity?????
it makes him sick
so he would say something like that but the thing is that he sees his brother as a God who is superior to every other living being
so he thinks that it isn't a big deal because his God had more important things to take care of
wrooooong, your God it's your baby bro who is just a child who used to admire you a lot before you started to get more and more insane progressively and the thing you just said it's fucking up his head because the love and hate he has for you were the strongest feelings his baby brain could feel and now he cannot come up with a way to make you stop envying or feeling resentful cuz of his powers (that he did not choose to born with in the first place) without making you have a meltdown that will end up with you killing yourself

Mermaid Reggie would have such pretty scales
the prettiest ones like u can't imagine especially when they catch the light and shimmer like this iridescent sheen on newly harvested pearls. his near-opalescent skin and dewy lashes and big, sea-creature-thing eyes that blink up at james curiously when he carefully approaches the bathtub to give regulus his daily serving of fresh fish
i think regulus should have this otherworldly beauty to him that will have anyone at his beck and call but i also think that mayhaps james should have a drop of older siren blood or whatever the witchcraft fuck that makes him just immune enough to do things like grip regulus by the chin and firmly tell him 'no' when he tries bite james' hand off with his sharp jagged marine predator teeth
anyways pretty mermaid/merman reggie but also if he gets pissed off his eyes blacken and his hands shapeshift into claws and he hisses and pretty much morphs into the most vicious goldfish pet u can imagine. will calm down if james gets in the tub with him and just gives him a proper smooch

But also something so ! about how John Irving, the character with most faith thus most faith to be tested, is the one to find the salvation, the divine providence, the literal manna in the desert, of Koveyook and his party, taking it in with humility and gratitude is just. Irving really did get to see a form of God in the way William Blake wrote it:
“I sought my God and my God I couldn't find; I sought my soul and my soul eluded me; I sought to serve my brother in his need, and I found all three; My God, my soul, and thee.”
