A little background, I am into non-dualism (hindu traditional) and in an ask I answered, I left in a small mention of non-dualism. A (singular) gatekeeper brought in their harassment train over to my inbox, I handled their first ask, but this morning they shared their valuable and corrupted braincells with me, mind you, with full hatred. They did attach a post, probably from another non-dualism gatekeeper, which I couldn't get to since I blocked the anon to preserve my energy.

It made me think.... someone supposedly following a philosophy full of love could be so.. lowly, tense, and triggered. That's not at all what non dualism is. What concerned me more, was the level of gatekeeping, I do not gatekeep. I will never gate-keep, something my whole life is devoted to (my spiritual belief) I would never deprive anyone else of them. ...if these people exist, does the shifting community really have a good, comprehensive exposure to non-dualism? . ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁

⊹ ࣪ ˖Firstly, ◇what is non-dualism ◇ .𖥔 ݁ ˖ ✦ ‧₊˚ ⋅

What it is, is a quick google search away. In short words, it teaches that you're not a separate entity. You're not separate from nature, universe, any form of existence and the divine. Its the technique which involves erasing the lines of distinction, to flow energy through all. You emerge from something, it emerges from you. If you look up non-dualism it'll tell you, you're living in one reality, which wouldn't make sense because you'll ask, "wait, then where's the concept of the multiverse?" And my response is.... that reality is your consciousness. Everything is a projection of your consciousness. There has always been one, the provider of sacred energy which keeps the wheels running, that provider directly aligns with your beliefs, god, or you. (Okay don't laugh at me for this) some examples, so non-dualism can register in your brain before we move forward.

- You are the ocean, similarly the ocean, the waves, the life within, the presence of a balanced ecosystem beneath the water is you.

- you personify both change and stillness.

- this environment is a reflection of your inner self.

- the void state is a proof of your non-dual state.

- you are an eternal being but at time you represent mortality.

It is simply a belief. Like you believe manifestation occurs, like you believe the sun rises each morning, like you believe seasons change, nobody can steal your powers from you, and you're free to do whatever, you're limitless, and let's be real, we don't have any old monks or gurus to please here, we all want to shift.₊⊹

^᪲᪲᪲Non-dualism in shifting - the concept. ^᪲᪲᪲

When you lay down to shift; you constantly try to achieve some state, a state of being in your dr. According to non-dualism, the state has already been achieved, since you are not separate from it. Similarly, you're not separate from the version of you who has shifted; you're not distinct from your dr self, you're already well blended into the environment and atmosphere of your dr. So basically, we circle back to our pillars of shifting belief:

- "you're already in your dr, right now"

- "you shift every second"

- "shifting doesn't require effort"

- "shifting is instant"ּ

Tutorial : How to make roads with car parking space

When I first started using the create a world tool, I immediatly wanted to make roads with car parking space. The only world where I had seen these types of roads were in Boroughsburg by potato-ballad-sims. So, I searched up the internet as one would do when you don't know how to do something and nothing until I found this post by krrank on their forum. I already knew how to make roads at that time. In fact, it was only when I saw her showcase of dirt roads, that I saw how there was a way to make roads larger to then add cars parked on the side. Now, because I haven't found a proper tutorial on how to actually do that, I decided to make my own tutorial and share how I managed to do it. It's not as perfect as Boroughsburg in term of sidewalk intersections (because I'm not the best at texture editing) but enough to have the look of parked cars, which can make a town look so much more lively.

What I'm assuming before this tutorial :

You're familiar with the CAW tool

you know how to place roads

you know how to create roads using textures provided by EA or CC road textures

You know how to add custom content for CAW (only applicable if you don't own the university EP)

The downside

The only downside with these roads is that sims will walk/run through the cars when going somewhere because we're basically using the sidewalk as parking space. To balance that out, I suggest using hybrid roads in your world : normal roads with normal sidewalks and roads with parking space.

" Okay but there's no sidewalk now, what do I do ? " : Simple ! Place independent sidewalks on the side. A bit like this (ignore the fact that this is not completly aligned to the grid) :

Step 2 : Placing cars on the road

I highly suggest using cars that are meant for decoration and aren't high poly. If you're using super CAW do not use the drivable cars that can be bought in game. In my case, I used the debug cars from the university EP meant for decoration and lowered them until it hid the parking curb. If you don't have the university EP, the world CC from Boroughsburg includes deco cars used for the purpose of parked deco cars !

Do not put too many cars on the roads (I only do it because I do not care since I'm making my own personal world, but if you intend to share the world you're making, limit the cars that you put on the streets)

How to hide the parking curb (for university cars) :

Lower your car's position (Y axis, green line) to : 15,4 - (Good enough height to hide the concrete curb and only hides a tiny bit of the car's wheels)

Don't forget to rotate (Y axis) the cars to the right direction. In fact, to be 100% accurate in the rotation placement of your cars, you can write the exact degree in the board that appears when you select an object. So, basically : 90 / -90 OR 180 / -180

You lean forward to keep an eye on the moon. It glows brighter as the sky deepens around it. You always liked watching the sky. Your favourite mornings are when the full moon appears against that baby blue canvas. 

You sit back, keeping the container of tarts steady on your lap, and instead focus on the streets. You don’t often go through these neighbourhoods. Truly, there isn’t much you do on your own. You were only ever your sister’s tag-along. 

“You know, it isn’t often I drive anyone to my brother’s estate and see them leave so pleased,” Loki muses. 

You glance at him, untangling his words. “Oh? But it’s a very nice house.” 

“The house is pleasant, but not all within can be,” he replies. As always, his words are aligned to mystify you. 

“I don’t think you’re unpleasant,” you argue.

“It is pragmatic,” he insists as he curls his thumb under the wheel to turn on your street. “If you can apply a bit of that, your idealism might have some value.” 

You put your chin down. It’s not really an insult but it feels like one. And it isn’t something you haven’t heard before. Jada always says you have stupid ideas. 

You’re quiet as he draws up in front of your house. You undo the seat belt as you balance the container and you grab your bag from between your feet. As you open the door, he clears his throat. 

“I do not think you are unpleasant either,” he sniffs.  

“What?” You pause and look back at him as you’re half-turned out of the car. 

He sighs, “here, you are going to drop something.” 

He gets out and struts around the car. He comes around your side and takes the container from your hands. He stands back with his hand on the door. 

“Thanks,” you stand and step out of the way. He closes the door and you reach for the tarts. 

“I shall walk you to the door. To prevent any mishap,” he says. 

“Okay,” you agree. 

You walk together to the porch and he lets you lead him up. You stop at the door and search in your bag for your keys. It’s a lofty mission as everything is just tossed in together. 

“Before, you said I wasn’t unpleasant and I only wanted to know that I would say the same of you, that is all,” he explains as your keys jingle over the top of your bag. 

“Oh, yeah, thank you,” you beam up at him. “See, I was right.” 

His eyes dart away and he turns his head to the street. You unlock the door and hook your bag on your shoulder. You put your hands out and he gives you the container. You hug it and pop the lid off. 

“Try one,” you insist. 

“I said I would later,” he slithers. 

“Please? The good part about baking is getting to share,” you say. 

He exhales and looks at you. He reaches to pluck a tart out. He examines it and takes a small, tidy bite. He chews and swallows, his cheeks pinching. He’s silent and you’re nervous. 

“Delicious,” he allows and lowers his hand, “I will finish it in the car. I’d be out of your way sooner than later. Have a good night.” 

You smile. It’s a small victory. “You too, Loki.” 

He hesitates then turns away. You watch him go and he brings his hand up to take another bite as you stare at his back. You spin and push through the door. You set down the container and take your shoes off. 

Jada appears at the end of the hall as she emerges from the basement. You grab the tarts, ready to retreat to your room. She calls your name. You ignore her but she follows, grunting and out of breath. 

“Wait, I have your clothes,” she says. 

You stop and face her. “My... clothes?” 

You look at the basket in her hands then at her. Her eyes are swollen from crying and her hair is a mess. You gasp. 

“Jada? Are you okay?” 

“I’m sorry, okay? I'm about what I did.” She blusters out. 

“Oh...” 

“And I cleaned out your dresser and I did my best to get the stains out,” she babbles out. 

“What-- why?” You grimace. 

“Because it was wrong. It was mean,” she sniffles and her eyes flit around. 

“Oh?” 

“And I bought you some new berries,” her voice is wispy and nervous. “So, we’re even and you’re not mad at me anymore, right?” 

You shrug, “I guess so.”  

You open your bedroom door and let her in. Your dresser is as clean as promised, you even think she vacuumed. She puts your clothes on your bed and hurries back. 

“Oh, did you want me to put them away?” She asks. 

“Er, that’s fine,” her behaviour is making you nervous. You remember what Loki said in the car about assuming things and you know your sister; she isn’t nice without reason. “What do you want?” 

“Huh? Nothing,” she stands by the door, shifting her weight as she hugs herself. “I just... felt bad.” 

You doubt that. Even you have enough cynicism for that. You know she won’t tell the truth though. She never does. 

“Well, if you want a berry tart,” you gesture to the container. “They’re pretty good.” 

She brings her hand to her throat and shakes her head. “No thanks,” she backs out, her voice scraping hoarsely. “Um, good night.” 

She turns and pulls the door shut as she leaves. You sit on the bed and wiggle your feet. There’s something strange going on. You better take Loki’s advice and stay alert. She’s up to something.

Vi was born December 19th! Thus, she's a Sagittarius! The fire element truly suits her personality-- brave, bold, and sometimes a little too hot to handle. A few of her traits align very well with her sign, too! She's free-spirited and yet grounded in her sense of duty. She struggles in relationships that feel too clingy or walled-in, though in her heart's heart, Vi dreams of a partner that will remain by her side no matter the adventure.

ARIES ⋆ Fiery & Genuine ⋆ 8 Months - 2 Years

Fire for fire, heart for heart. Vi's relationship with an Aries would come on hard and fast-- and is likely a relationship of circumstance. With two strong personalities, Vi and her Aries are sure to get a lot done together regarding their personal goals.

However, when trouble comes, it comes on just as harshly. Split goals can be the thing to crumble their connection, as Vi needs someone who can stay on her page, and unfortunately, lacks a lot of give when conflict hits. Once Vi learns stability with her Capricorn, the only way to lose her is by never showing her your own need for stability, as well. Due to her struggles, it shows through primarily in her grudge-holding ability, and in how much she hurts when she's stuck by herself. Jinx needs a loving hand-- and one that will not waver.

Survive the storm, then smooth sailing! Jinx inherently struggles with forming real, true relationships. A Taurus is genuinely the perfect match for her-- to supply the stability and empathy Jinx so deeply desires. No one would fault the Taurus for leaving-- but a real stubborn bull can bring her home.

What kind of advice would you give someone who just started drawing feom zero? I think starting can be kind of intimidating.

This is more emotional advice, but I think a lot of people who give up drawing start with high expectations for themselves. Especially the older you get and more refined your vision gets, the more it feels like the gap between your skill and your vision is insurmountable. It’ll probably take time to get to a point where you feel comfortable and happy with something you’ve drawn, and that is fine and natural! Give yourself that time and keep trying :)

Another end of this is that it’s a lot easier to keep trying when you’re drawing things that you want to draw. When learning there’s a balance between doing what you think is fun and what sources will tell you are good for building up skill quickly. I think that focusing on building up the skill for the sake of the skill is a very quick way to get burnt out however, and would recommend drawing things that you want to draw first and foremost.

I want to note also that creating for yourself means not comparing your art to other people’s art. It’s instinctual, and a very hard habit to break, but the more you consider your own art as having inherent value to yourself because you drew it and nobody else, the easier it is to keep drawing past the fear that you aren’t good enough at it.

Cannot iterate enough: DONT TRY TO FREEHAND MUCH WHEN YOURE JUST BEGINNING

You learn by practicing and if you practice undirected then maybe eventually you’ll get to a good point but! It is soooo much easier to make something you enjoy and get the satisfaction and motivation to keep drawing if you reference until you build up enough muscle memory and instinct to draw on your own. This is not to say that you should not try to freehand at all, but freehanding with no reference early on is I think is more useful as a test of your current skills than as additive and effective practice/improvement.

I would begin with copying by sight, as that’s generally how you train the alignment of your vision with your hands. Hand eye coordination? Is it called that? Just try taking common household objects and drawing them on a page, or even try with an anime screenshot (I did this a lot when I was learning!) tracing is another way that you can learn to build up this coordination but I consider it to be another training wheel on top of copying, not interchangeable with copying by eye.

I consider referencing to be when you get to a point where you draw what you’re already seeing from different angles and in new environments! Think of drawing a face from a different angle or clothes around a different pose. Referencing is something every artist does and something you should not be afraid to do!

Finally, take these advices with a grain of salt! I’m not a professional in any way, this is just what I think would have helped me to hear when I was younger.
