there’s a lot of posts on how white suburbs are deeply awful + filled w ppl unable to conceptualize a world outside their own bubble + steeped in racism etc. which obviously is true and all but as someone who’s personally seen many suburbs filled w/ diff ethnic groups (not functionally diverse suburbs just for example suburb 1 filled entirely w chinese immigrants, 2 filled w only pakistanis, etc) the overall results aren’t much better. like at the end of the day the issue lies not in the whiteness of suburban residents but rather the way their lifestyles (car dependancy -> can’t go anywhere else/see other ppl, have never sat on the bus and seen regular ppl etc) allow them to genuinely live their entire lives in an extremely minuscule bubble of homogenous ppl who look & live (esp economically!!!) exactly like them

List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who liked or reblogged something from you! Get to know your mutuals and followers ❤️
Happiness is elusive, so this is a good exercise for me to think about it. Hmm… 🤔
My family. We’ve always been super close, and I’m so grateful for that. Especially the last few months, we’ve all really been there for each other. I adore being an aunt, it’s my favorite hat to wear.
My furbaby Oscar. My Sweet Boy. I can’t say enough good things about this little guy. He’s such a good boy, and such a sweetheart.
Stargate sg1. The show, the fandom, everything. I’ve made great friends over the years through shared love of this show.
My friends, particularly my pocket friends. I don’t really know many people IRL, but I do have amazing pocket friends, including all of you! I’ve met some incredible people, especially here on tumblr.
Laying in bed, super comfy and cozy. It’s just such a nice, peaceful feeling.
A bonus answer, because I actually thought of a sixth thing when I didn’t think I’d be able to come up with five! Watching baseball with my dad. We watch most of the Yankees games together (yay for the YES Network) and get really into it. It’s something that brings us closer together, and I love that.
Ooh, and a seventh! A really good cup of coffee. Whether it be my regular coffee with French vanilla creamer, or my fancy Starbucks order (triple grande white mocha with 1.5 pumps of white mocha, nonfat milk, whipped cream, and caramel drizzle). All together it’s delicious, but there’s something special about savoring that first sip.
Thank you for this ask. I took time while answering it and it made me grateful for what I have that brings me joy. Most of the time I can’t see it, so it was a pleasant surprise that I could come up with so many things.

Ila, if someone makes fun of you or calls you a gramma for wearing a bonnet 1. They ain't shit and 2. You can whip out a "Oh so unlike 80% of media and humor on the internet, this aspect of black culture isn't cool to adopt?" if you wanna shut them up and make them feel bad.
The bonnet is a tool synonymous with preserving youth, glamour, and beauty <3
Get a pretty one, get a bunch, they're pretty cheap. Have fun with that hair maintenance and frizz control <3 And honestly, if you really don't wanna wear a bonnet because of the stigma but you still want the silk hair protection, you can always buy a durag...nobody has to know
(asdfsdgfd sorry about the wall of text but I literally spent 12 years of my life wearing a bonnet to bed every night I feel strongly about this)
HFJDJJS thank you for the bonnet psa 😭 I'm not worried about stigma or anything I already have like a scarf because my hair is so dry and frizzy I just know Id be fighting for my LIFE if I got one and my friends found out jfksksk not in a bad way just in a this is a target of jokes way (but genuinely just so you know I'm not making fun of bonnets at all, I just know that I myself am already walking the line of grandmacore and a sleeping cap would not help that image jfjdksk)

The good (??) thing about my mother’s frequent and very bad parenting trick of Comparing the Children is that it gave me so much anxiety around the concept of impulse purchases that I am generally very good at saving money but also now that I’m an adult and have enough money that I could lose my job and maintain my spending habits and lifestyle for several months with no income, I am *much* more prone to actual impulse purchases
Which is all to say I bought a couple secondhand formal dresses for weddings and shit and I feel, in the most emphatically positive way possible, like a pretty princess in them

hamlet is my poor little meow meow. hes ny babygirl. my failmale. my wife. my everything. my silly rabbit.
he's a great choice, he's the emo blueprint. what was the moment in hamlet that made u feel this way? him doing sex puns and innuendos towards ophelia's father, or his iconic speech where he contemplates killing himself? there truly are so many possibilities. have u seen any of the multiple film adaptions for hamlet; i could recommend some really good ones. dm if interested lol (but i'll include them in my tags anyways)
