Let teenagers experiment.

Let them figure themselves out without judgement or pressure to be anything yet.

Let them have what you didn't/don't.

Let them revel in their lack of responsibility.

They're not adults, but they're not kids, and it isn't terribly fun existing in-between.

Let them be.

If you are a teenager, try to find a way to enjoy this weird time when your body hates you, your brain might want you dead, everyone is telling you what you are and what to be and even your peers are judging you mercilessly.

Find what brings you joy and cling, just fucking cling. Revel in that thing that makes you smile, no matter how much it makes those around you cringe. If it brings you joy, it is worth your time.

It's hard, but you can do it.

You'll live through it. You'll be changed, maybe a little cracked, but hopefully unbroken.

Odypen definitely and equivalently adore each other BUT I weirdly can't see them as the type to actually say "I Love you".

They still definitely vocalize their love for each other but it's more so in "My Joy", and "Extraordinary Woman", "Strange Woman/Man", etc. And very cheesy lines (both say some cheesy shit in the Odyssey, and he definitely does in the Iliad as well. "Joy like a drowning sailor seeing land" bit???)

I could see "I adore you" but even then, that's probably during very specific moments but the actual "I love you"??? I just typed it just now for fic shit and... It weirdly just didn't feel right and I don't know why. 😅

Idk maybe it's kind of because I see them as over the top in ways, they love wordplay and riddles and I think they'd almost think "...That's not good enough >:( " about it??? I don't know???😂

one thing that especially irks me about cullen's so-called redemption is the attempts to redeem him through cole's words.

templars' abuses affected cole so badly it damaged his connection to the fade and his own nature. he was a spirit of compassion and witnessing what was happening in white spire turned him into a killer. he murdered lord seeker lambert in cold blood for what he did and most of the time he doesn't regret it — and then he just. drops the "he's not like the other girls" lines about cullen.

and this is such a lazy and annoying move. another thing that is established about cole is that you particularly can't lie to him — about your real feelings and intentions at least. whatever he states about other characters must be true and it is often used as a tool to deepen the characterizations of the main cast and in cullen's case it is just. blatant apologism. there's literally a banter where cole talks about atrocities commited by the templars and then he adds "oh no but cassandra and cullen aren't like that" and never elaborates. the game itself doesn't elaborate either.

like please don't tell me that the spirit who was shaken by knowledge that an innocent boy can die from starving because his jailors simply forgot about him would look in the eyes of a person who used to be meredith fucking stannard's right hand and still thinks that her methods were just a little too harsh but necessary and justified and say yeah. this guy is such a friend of mages. if only there were more templars like him

#this is such an overt bullshit like i don't even know where to start #and my main problem is that. i don't care about cullen. his redemption arc sucks because it's non-existent. but i do care about cole #and i love his cryptic comments so much because they really give you a look into character's head in a weird but interesting manner #and then. this happens. and you can say that “oh but it means that cullen's REAL attitude is compassionate towards mages!”#but the thing about cole's comments is. he does expose characters' thoughts #but you've already had an opportunity to catch whatever cole makes clear in these banters #like. vivienne is afraid and it is shown in the game. dorian struggles with attachment and it is shown in the game #cullen struggles with whatever he's done to mages and ?????? ah yes #and i'm just. so mad. because i love what cole adds to the storytelling. and there's so much potential but he's used for apologism #because whoever wrote cullen was too lazy and/or preoccupied with making a knight in shining armor out of him #you can also point out that cole is used for solas apologism as well. but in solas' case you can catch that he feels conflicted #about his actions and goals. so yeah. it works. at least partially. so my point stays.#cullen's case is like. by the book example of horrendous breaking of 'show don't tell' rule #practically cole breaks this rule constantly. but as i said it doesn't feel off with other characters because of what has been shown alread #cullen critical #dragon age

my rewrite where uhhhhhhhhhh. everything is the same except the writers actually care about female characters. a lot of decisions were made because of actresses no longer being available so plotlines like fish's are more or less the same but like, Ivy either gets to grow up normally or is never a child at the beginning to start with (you can go the weird plant body route if you have to keep her relatively younger since this is a prequel ig), and I don't... even know what to make of KK or Isabella, and Sofia should just be fucking. dont tell me there isn't a single female italian bodybuilder who can act, I don't believe you. let her be buff. let her take up space. let her be huge and wear vintage fashion.

also Oswald is fat and trans

#the problem is that largely i think gotham should suck ass #the only thing that really drives me up the fucking wall is the like. obvious sexism #every fully disposable female character makes me evil #i dont know what they were on about the riddler fangirl and i've chosen not to examine it bc i suspect you had to be there #in order to understand what whoever wrote that was mad about specifically. i can't stand that shit #'we have to openly mock some actually harmless aspect of our fanbase' ok but can you do it without being weird and sexist '🧍‍♂️'#but generally? the Stupid plotlines the Really dumb crap #whatever the fuck gordon is doing from episode to episode #...it builds character. i wasn't paying attention to most of it anyway #hey real quick look me in the eyes #there was something there. i hate the galavan arc so much but there was something there.#a sympathy. a kinship between tabitha and silver. tabitha was groomed for a role the same way silver is being groomed and she recognizes #the childish desire to please authority figures in their stupid bullshit organization even though silver can't see it because she's still l #living in it #did you guys see that? because i saw it #and it's in the middle of like. one of the worst arcs in the show #(the arc is fine the actor who plays theo is just so like. he has no charisma at all and something is Off about the whole thing bc of it)#oh wait no yeah actually. the stuff with silver is kind of hard to watch bc it would be interesting if they wanted to examine it #but it's a stupid drama series so it's just a love triangle even though she's a pretty sad character even within the writing in this show #and silver never comes back. and she doesn't need to bc they wouldnt know how to treat her #but did you guys see that too?#I like tabitha #anyway that arc is bad but i do think sometimes about silver saying 'my favorite animal is a dolphin bc they're magic'#and for a second bruce forgets the situation and looks like he's going to snap #exclusively because she said something factually incorrect about an animal #what was i talking about again

idk how long this has been sitting in my inbox for first of all sorry !!! second of all SIT DOWNNNNN. i love telling this story <3

a few years ago i borrowed the catcher in the rye from my school library and took it home during some holiday (i think it was easter). picture this, it was midnight 12am something, i couldnt sleep, so i decided to do some light reading to help me fall asleep (yes i used to be the type of person to read a bit before sleep bc it helped) this 15 year old girl flat on her stomach in bed, the entire house dead quiet, just me, my bedside lamp and the catcher in the rye, following holden caulfield's adventures as he explores nyc in the dead of the night. i DEVOURED that shit in 3 hours. it had less to do with what the book was actually about (althought to be clear i LOVE the book and 100% think the prose is great), and more to do with the experience itself (which was why i specified doesnt matter if the book was well written or not in my post). it was and remains my most sublime, amazing reading experience: the atmosphere, the prose of the book, being an angsty teenager......it all just came together so so perfectly. the catcher in the rye will forever be special to me and i'll always view those 3 hours as a life-changing
