Irondad fic ideas #134
Fic where everything in the current MCU has happened
...for Peter.
In fact, Mysterio captured Peter right after Endgame. Everything that happened since -- Europe, his identity, May -- has been an illusion.
Mysterio even altered Peter's memory of the battle against Thanos to torture him. He doesn't remember the rush to get Tony to a hospital. He doesn't remember being kidnapped. He believes Tony died on the battlefield
Which is why, when he's suddenly in a cell and Iron Man bursts in, frantic and alive, Peter has a hard time telling what's real.

“Sometimes a rage builds up and you just gotta let it out. Do you remember that time I was so angry with my father and my brother, I went down to Earth and I held the whole of New York city hostage with an alien army? Tried to use the mind stone on Tony Stark? It didn’t work so I threw him off the building. It wasn’t tactical. I lost it. Sometimes our emotions get the better of us.”
Is this a retcon? Is Loki saying he wasn't tortured or mind controlled and he attacked Earth because he was angry at his family?
Well, let's analyze the situation.
They went to interrogate X-5 who according to Mobius is an asshole that knows them and their tactics. Mobius tells others to not let X-5 get under their skin with a emphasis on Loki, thinking he is the one who most probably is going to lose his temper. But that's not what happens.
Loki does not lose his cool. On the contrary he plays the role of a villain(which is not really convincing tbh) and tries to intimidate X-5. Mobius is the one who gets so angry and hits Brad within a minute after X-5 turns his attention to him. Mobius storms off trying to convince Loki that it was a tactical action and he could play the heavy keys. But when he calms down he confesses that wasn't the case. Then Loki says those lines.
Now let's remember some similar situations we've seen Loki doing sth like this. Before the coronation when Thor was nervous, Loki makes jokes, gives him confidence, tries to calm him down. And after that when Thor is angry, Loki again tries to calm him down, agreeing with Thor saying he is on his side. When Odin saves them from Jotunheim and is furious with Thor, Loki tries to intervene and stop the situation from escalating. In TDW after their argument on the boat, Loki again tries to light the mood with a joke. So this is a typical and in character behavior for Loki.
Should Loki's words be accepted at face value? MCU Loki lies sometimes but he is not the god of lies like comics. He mostly speaks the truth, but not the complete truth. Half-truth is what he mostly uses. He shapes the sentences in a way that people interpret them how they want based on how they think. Especially when it comes to the things that he doesn't want others to know. Things that he was taught were weakness.
Moreover there are undeniable proof in canon that Loki was tortured (his physical state in Avengers, threats of pain by the Other…etc), and his mind was influenced by the mind stone(confirmed by Marvel). There are even moments in S1 that confirm Loki didn't want or enjoy to hurt people. He's had to. And Miss Minutes offered Loki to kill Thanos, which affected Loki more than any of her offers.
"Unbeknownst to him, the scepter was also influencing him, fueling his hatred over his brother Thor and the inhabitants of Earth."
Unbeknownst to him
Remember in S1 Sylvie tried to enchant him but couldn't? Loki said it's because his mind's too strong. For other magic users? Yes. For mind stone? Maybe. Since we know he wasn't mind control like Selvig and Clint. But the Other had a connection through the scepter to his mind and his negative emotions was being amplified. Which Loki didn't know. His memories were clearly tampered with too as he remembered Thor tossing him into an abyss which didn't happen.
In the main timeline Loki spends a year and half in a cell, where he had access to his magic. Being away from the scepter, having the use of his magic and nothing but time, Loki sooner or later have realized what happened. We don't know when exactly Loki realized that the mind stone was influencing him. But we've seen in other MCU movies/shows that removing mind related magic in most cases also needs magic.
TV Loki on the other hand, right after his escape got arrested in a place that he couldn't use his magic, spending his days either running from or after somebody and trying to fix a disaster. He probably hasn't that realization yet. And even if he had, do you think Loki would talk about it? I don't think so. Just like he never talks or wants to talk about his torture.
There are more than enough clues in canon to confirm that Loki was tortured and his mind was influenced and nothing can retcon all of that.
Back to the scene in 2x02, Loki is trying to calm down Mobius through sympathizing with him. He can't say "Hey remember that time I fell into Thanos clutches after I committed suicide, then he tortured and brainwashed me through my hatred and anger, and sent me to take over the Earth and when I got away you found me and tortured me and now you can't handle one minute taste of your own medicine?" That would have been counterproductive. So instead Loki is telling the truth but not all of it. He was angry at Thor and Odin and his emotions got the better of him. But those emotions, those thoughts and words were influenced. That's what Loki's not telling because he wants to sympathize with Mobius through a similar experience.
Could the topic of New York invasion handled better? Certainly. Otherwise there wasn't a need for this meta. But Loki's behavior can be explained in-universe and through his canon characterization without retconning any other proof and clues.

What’s your favorite Clintasha trope? What are some of your headcanons for our beloved duo?
Tumblr media
Hey my beloved darling! 😘
Tumblr media
Thank you for your ask!
Tropes I absolutely adore with these two are: Coworkers to lovers, alternative universes ( for example Tattooartist meets Barista), I adore soulmates tropes, any Fics that fix the damn MCU timeline (I love you, @sneakronicity who wrote us "Until I see you again , Also Fuck you Joss Weasel). a good medieval alternative with queens and knights (just some good fantasy AUs), I am a sucker for family stories so Clintasha retiring and raising kids on the farm, some good romantic and without violence smut is always welcome. These are the Highlights that I can think of now.
Let's talk about head canons:
Clint and Nat are the perfect example of Ying and Yang, Clint is that openminded golden retriever that will take everyone who needs help in with open arms, Nat is that black cat that is dismissive at first an very reserved, but together they complete each other. Clint has a lot of patience with her and loves her unconditionally, what Nat doesn't really understands, but as soon she let's her walls down, but only for Clint, she is completely and without a fault devoured to him, I would even go that far to say she is very protective over him, because she knows he has some inner wounds that need to heal. So she does everything possible to make him heal, the same way he has done for her. They protect each other at all times, they would even turn against the Avengers to protect each other.
In my head they have 3 way of sex: The hot in the moment against the wall sex, that is full of hunger and lust especially when both haven't be together for a time; the light quickie in the morning to start their day in a relaxed fashion and the tender, slow, full of love and appreciation lovemaking that breaks them apart and proves their bond over and over again.
Clint loves Nat's red hair and is quite annoyed when she has to dye it blond for various missions. He adores her eyes & body and loves to touch and kiss every inch of her will treating her like a goddess.
On the other hand Nat loves when Clint has a bit longer hair so she has something to hold on ;), she is obsessed with his archery arms but especially these magical hands that makes her fall apart every time, He absolutely know what he is doing, he never misses after all ;).
After every mission, massages and bathing together are in order. Especially Nat loves to massage her hawk, that gives her a reason to really examine Clint's body in all its glory.
And of course they are a perfect team in the field, they basically don't even need to talk but communicate over their abilities and their body language. The Avengers are surprised every time when joint missions are happening and that ace team is shining bright.
In my head the only reason Clint uses hearing aids is to hear Nat's voice. The first moments without hearing her voice made him mental, he felt he was suffocating and felt his world just exploded. He need to hear her voice to survive, same as air to breath. Both know ASL, so they can communicate when Clint needs his calm time when overstimulated with the hearing aids and it's an advantage to gossip about people without them knowing. Over the years they invented a whole new signing language that's just for them, because the team catches up and in my head everyone is capable of signing, so they needed a new way to be private and intimate with each other.
For me they retire together on Clint's farm and will live there till the end of their looooong lifes and together in their arms in their bed. Titanic Style just less dramatic. 😂
Tumblr media
The team visits every month they always have an amazing barbecue together and basically a whole week of festivities sponsored by Tony of course. Do they have kids? In some of my head yes (A girl and a boy), in the other not to honour the Red Room Story of Nat. Depends on my mood tbh.
If you need more just ask ahead. Now my head is empty but happy.
I love you and thank you for your friendship and companionship. 😘😘

Thoughts on the fact we're getting a lando series 💀
I REALLY LIKED the SOLO movie and I thought it was EASILY Disney's best Star Wars project before Andor. It had a charismatic cast, a great atmosphere, beautiful set design, a compelling arc for Han, and a great set up for a followup project - but Disney went apeshit after it lost money and blacklisted it for NO reason, not understanding it was the Sequels & how they demolished Luke Skywalker which angered fans... not Solo.
[which also could have been easily fixed as the next movie was called The RISE of Skywalker and the most powerful Jedi of his age Luke couldve, with practically no effort, literally... been resurrected, but I digress]
So I really like Donald Glover as Lando and I think he'd be amazing in a series (he is writing it too), and I would hope they'd include Alden's Han as well -- but this shouldve happened years and years ago & frankly the audience and goodwill for it is absolutely gone now.
Like fans actively root for Disney's Star Wars projects to fail... that's... bad. And tbh not unjustified.
Disney was too chickenshit to stand behind recasting (Alden was a GREAT Han and Glover was a GREAT Lando) - and now theyre in a swamp mess of AI cgi insanity while the whole creative world revolts against AI lmao. Instead of just casting Julliard graduate Graham Hamilton as Luke and rebooting the OG trio for a Heir to the Empire trilogy (what everyone wants) they're busy.... dragging The Mandalorian behind a shed and axing it to death by giving the show over to a deeply generally unknown (and OOC) Filoni original character Bo Katan who was originally conceived in TCW to be unlikeable intentionally within the narrative?
I'm sure the Lando show would've been great, but they already cancelled Lando twice and I'm sure they will again. Every single SW project Disney has announced has been cancelled including, already, the first bricks of their repulsive MCU Mando verse lol. Which was just announced in April 😂
It's just... busted.
I doubt Lando will ever exist & if it does I'll never give Disney my money about it.
Lando has been one of my fav sw characters forever, so its just bewildering it has gotten to this point.

TW for GotG Vol. 3
I watched Guardians of the Galaxy – Vol. 3 last night and while I think it was a good movie (one of the better ones in recent years, like, I think it was genuinely good), I also think it warrants some trigger/content warnings. So. I will do just that to keep y'all safe (please be careful).
With that said, this will obviously contain spoilers. I will put the general trigger/content warning under the cut and then further down will explain what happens in the movie, so you can pick and choose which triggers you want to know about. And if you have any further questions, you can always DM me here or on Discord and ask. I will do my best to answer them.
I don't claim that I will get everything, though, as memories are fickle things and I'm not perfect.
Anyway, onto the trigger/content warnings:
BODY HORROR/BODY MODIFICATION
ANIMAL ABUSE/ANIMAL CRUELTY
ALCOHOL ABUSE
GORE
(There's also some fighting with more or less fatal injuries, but as this is a superhero movie, I won't go into detail about this.)
BODY HORROR/BODY MODIFICATION
To preface this: This is Rocket's story. So this theme is all throughout the movie and it is graphic. There are a bunch of animals other than Rocket that others have been experimenting on (the otter from the trailer for example). And it's way worse with them than with Rocket. The otter has no arms anymore, instead she has rudimentary prostheses, a rabbit has been modified to have some mechanical spider legs and a mask, a walrus has modified eyes and some kind of wheelchair like thing to get around. This is all integrated into their bodies, these are not removable. There are other animals like this.
You have probably also seen the society of anthropomorphic animals in the trailer. There are scenes in which it gets shown how they were made—it's graphic. The first time we see this they use a tortoise and you can see the transformation and it's not pretty.
Then there's Nebula who gets basically killed several times, her limbs and neck and whole body bent and broken in ways no one would survive. And she fixes herself in a horror like way (remember Wanda emerging from the mirror in MoM? Something like that).
Groot gets beheaded once and the head crawls around like some kind of spider for a brief amount of time (until he regrows himself). Not that bad, but I thought I should mention it.
As said, this is the theme of the movie, this is Rocket's story, and it is pretty damn graphic for an MCU movie. This is also the biggest trigger warning imho.
ANIMAL ABUSE/ANIMAL CRUELTY
Several animals (not just Rocket) get experimented on and killed. They get abused and mistreated and kept in cages. Their bodies get mutilated in those experiments and their bodies get modified. It's a bit of a horror show.
(More details in the body horror/body modification part above this one.)
ALCOHOL ABUSE
Peter gets blackout drunk to the point of passing out in the first few minutes of the movie. He is trying to deal with his broken heart this way and, according to his friends, this is not the first time. But it's the only time we see this in the movie.
GORE
Pretty mild case when it comes to gore tbh., but better safe than sorry. A character's face gets taken off and you see the skull, muscles, and blood beneath it. The character is still talking afterwards (it's pretty much at the end of the movie).
I didn't know if I should put it under gore, but I also didn't know where else to put this. But there is a planet/spaceship/whatever like thing that is a living organism. It looks pretty gross and you can actually see it briefly in the trailer when the Guardians jump out of their ship in the colorful spacesuits. Everything in this place is organic and they cut through the skin in one scene and the sounds are just pretty gross imo. Also, the interaction with this organism is … How do I describe this? Like, sometimes they put their hands on the "buttons", but it's like this semi-liquid goo? And this goes on for quite some time.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Blessedly tagged by @walkinginland and @flyinghome-againstthewind so I can participate in one of my favorite activities (talking about myself) during this boring workday!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
173, although I know there are a few that for various reasons I haven't posted on there
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
1,177,040 which...wow
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Most continuously the MCU (Captain America specifically), Buffyverse, Veronica Mars, and Outlander, but one-offs for many others
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Muscle Memory (Outlander, Jamie/Claire; 18 chapters, complete)
Wingspan (Veronica Mars, Logan/Veronica; 6 chapters, complete)
Here's All the Melting Thrill (And Here's the Kindling Fire) (Outlander, Jamie/Claire; 14 chapters, complete)
things left behind and the things that are ahead (MCU, Steve/Peggy; 43 chapters, complete)
After the War Is Over (Will There Be Any Home Sweet Home?) (Outlander, Jamie/Claire; 6 chapters, complete)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
99% of the time, absolutely. I appreciate them so much, and want to express that, even if I'm a little overwhelmed and just end up saying "Thanks so much for reading!" Sometimes, however, if the comment strikes me as really negative or is trying to start some kind of debate that I don't want to get involved in, I'll just mark as read and move on.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don't really write angsty endings! (Usually just angsty middles, and third act twists...) Probably my Veronica Mars fic, We Do Not Flinch, because even though the ending is definitely hopeful, not everything is fixed and the character death is not erased.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Um, basically all of them tbh! I love and reliably provide a happy ending. I guess I'll say Each Step Closer (On Our Way Together) because the whole thing is pretty light and the last section extra so.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Intellectually I know the answer is no. But I have gotten criticism, perhaps validly, about my portrayal of Peggy's emotions in Woman Borne, and also have gotten comments which express frustration with the choices my characters make, and that does feel hurtful in certain ways.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Ehhhhh, very, very lightly. Pretty much just gauzy linguistics and minimal mention of actual body parts - soulmate smut 🤷‍♀️
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Haha, I've written a bunch of AUs that borrow from other fandoms and have a lot of fun with those, but I've only written one partially completed Buffy/Bones crossover
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I think that some of my fics have been included in the kind of automatic sweeps that republish on fake fic sites or ebook sites, but not by an actual person as far as I know.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, although I'd be happy to give permission if someone wanted to!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Lol, no and I can't imagine I'd be an easy writing partner 😂😬
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Skipping because I've found that there isn't necessarily a permanence to it for me.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I don't really have WIPs that have been posted (because I know myself and that would be too stressful for me!) but the long planned out Chase/Cameron fic, or the Veronica Mars one where Wallace was a superhero, or the various ideas I've vaguely started writing within my head.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Mmmm...Occasional nice turns of phrase/unusual uses of language?
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Writing visuals or action
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Nervous about it and probably I do it wrong, but I do it anyway 😬
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter back in the day
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I am my own biggest fic critic and also my own biggest fan, so they are all dear to me. I do have a particular love for my Steggy fic things left behind and the things that are ahead and all the characters and bits of the universe that come along with it.
Tagging @roboticonography, @ghostcat3000, @ckerouac, @kairosimperative, and of course my always meme pal, @lavellenchanted!

strange new worlds
send me a tv show/book/fandom and i’ll say the top 5 things i’d change about it
Stop. Having. TOS. Characters. I'm not even joking. Like fine okay, you have Spock established. That's fine. I'm not the biggest fan of how the actor plays him but whatever. But having Uhura be there was???? I love Uhura but it just doesn't make sense when she should still be at the Academy. Also Chapel, I cannot stand the SNW version of Chapel. I get that everyone loves her but I've said it before and I'll say it again, shes the MCU version of Chapel. And my god that guy playing Kirk lacks charm. And now there's Scotty?? Just stop! Focus on your new characters! I don't want this!
I don't love the Gorn, like I get they need a bad guy and a war, I mean I guess, what's trek these days without a war but I'm so meh on the Gorn. I wouldn't want Klingons either tbh but the cold war with them going on would still make more sense and if you have to have something else then please just... do something else. All though this is my issue with most prequel things anyway given the limitations of the story.
The musical episode. It's one of the few of season two I watched and it was just so boring. Like talk about a let down. I'm a big fan of musical episodes but this was just dull.
Spock and Chapel and Spock and T'Pring. Having the latter be a very sexual relationship was...a choice. Having their be this weird sexual tension between Spock and Chapel was another choice. Like I get she likes him TOS but what you get in that def wasn't the build of what will be years of sexual tension like this show is predicting and saying it was. It's just bad. And takes up so much time of the episodes.
Honestly I don't have a five beyond the show as a whole. I don't like Enterprise because of things they have as a prequel that don't make sense and it's my same issue with SNW. I'm just not a prequel person. I think stories often suffer when you do prequels in part because again of the limitations the show must have. You can't have too much character development if you have to have the character end a certain way or a plot if fixed on a certain point. I know I'm just picky but that's where my stance has always lay.

Welp, judging from the possible spoilers, predictions and interviews I actually think the finale will go fine for every character, except maybe Sylvie.
That would suck, since she truely got the short end of the stick basically the whole show. I still hope for a decent conclusion for her arc, but you'll never know.
To me she is the only wild card.
What I think will happen:
*Loki will take over for HWR and stay at the citadel. I'm absolutely sure. He won't die, the MCU will keep him as an asset and for possible cameos.
The only thing that could go wrong here would be not giving him enough power to make it awesome.
*the tva will continue to exist. But just for monitoring. I'd be ok with that for the sake of the characters (not for the tva itself).
*the variants will get a conscious peek at their time lines and decide to stay at the tva, it will be bitter sweet and melodramatic.
(Mobius might see that his boys are thriving with another Don, OB loves the tva science anyways, Casey well duh, B-15 might stay out of responsibility or because she was meant to die on the tl or whatever).
B-15 officially takes a leading role, Mobius stays in middle management and keeps up morale. He's great at that.
*the multiverse will be free. We still didn't fully get to that yet, and one spoiler tweet claims that the 'lie' from the trailer is indeed the loom. The loom is pointless (in regards to keeping lines stable) and will not be fixed. The multiverse will expand.
The time lines will be stabilized by Loki himself.
*I like Brad as a character, but am ok with whatever might happen to him (possible death)
*Ravonna could get eaten or put back on the time line. Given her recent action she most likely will be an Alioth meal, unless they have one last surprise for her character. We did get a glimpse at her actual life though, so she might make it.
*Kang will have forseen everything up to Loki revisiting the citadel, but will not 'win' there.
The general speculative consensus is that the MCU can either keep him or exchange him for Doom as future villain, so it will be an ambiguous ending for Kang, where it just looks as if he'd won at first.
*Now Sylvie: narratively it would make sense to have her stay with Loki at the citadel. Kang asked both of them to take over.
They have been arguing over different philosophies the whole season, so both of them together would mean balance.
Sylvie is referred to as 'meaningful' and described as having 'a deep connection to Loki' in interviews.
But: the MCU doesn't exactly do couples (with few exeptions).
If the MCU wants to keep using Loki for cameos or even as Avenger prime (hey I can hope ;)), would they have to include her? Could they?
Loki by himself seems easier.
Sophia talked about saying goodbye to her character. (So no reprise of that role).
So Sylvie could either die (fuck that tbh) or get her own mission elsewhere (I'd be ok with that).
Or get reset in favor of little Sylvie if that would work logically (well, fuck that too).
(There will be a 'sacrifice' in the finale, but that could be anything tbh, it could also mean Loki saying goodbye to her and conciously erasing their meeting, if her life gets reset. Great for Sylvie, who would start over with no memories, very sad for Loki, convenient drama insert)
So yeah, I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy the finale, but that could be the only shitty thing.
It wouldn't matter much, of course. It's just a show and they hardly end the way I want (not you 'Lost girl', you did great. SPN also).
But I would love to be wrong in my pessimism and get pleasently surprised with a perfect ending.

welcome to: I never post but I kinda want to sum up how I feel about (616) Peter Parker.
so, like. I've tried to do this many times and always end up coming short of fully explaining myself because I have ✨𝓂𝒶𝓃𝓎 𝒻𝑒𝑒𝓁𝒾𝓃𝑔𝓈.✨
note: I have done an ass ton of research over my couple years of loving Spidey, but that does not mean I know everything. if something sounds wrong, it might be! I'm just a 17 year old idiot who got attached to an absolute mess of human being.
note #2: I am trying not to make this all about how much I dislike MCU Peter, but it will come up from time to time so just be aware of that.
first and foremost, I want to talk about comics as a whole. a lot of choices around characters have less to do with what a character would actually do and more what a writer wants or general comic/societal culture at the time. every character will be different depending on the writer and you're gonna make your own interpretation of a character from what you like. that doesn't mean certain things can't be out of character, just that a comic character can vary quite a bit depending on the person. that's part of the fun of comics tbh.
what I'm trying to say is that if my character analysis doesn't feel like it's what you read, it very well might not be and that's okay. Peter is a character that's been around since the 60's. he's developed over time and will continue to as time goes on. like, for instance, how he's changed from a high school kid trying to get by to a mid-to late twenties mentor for Miles (1610) and Gwen (65).
alright onto more interesting points. and actually a kinda heavily debated topic. whether Peter is a naturally good person or not. mainly this is just about his origin and how he really just straight did not care. honestly, part of the reason I really like how the comics did his origin is that he's not an self-absorbed prick. (even though it would be reasonable if he was considering he was 15.) he's more,,, jaded.
Peter was a social outcast his whole life. he didn't make any sort of friend until Freshman year. he's also super traumatized. his parents' death is kinda over-looked a lot, but it was shown that it really set in action his fear about everyone around him dying that has only gotten worse from, well, just that happening. he's shown in younger years to help people, and even in Freshman year he puts his safety on the line to make sure his bullies don't get stabbed by his friend, but he also kinda just,,, doesn't care.
personally, I really like characters that are inherently good people, but are limited by trauma making them apathetic. (ahem me with a male P3 protag icon.) not all trauma responses are loud or easy to fix. it's totally reasonable for Peter to close himself off from a world that has only been cruel to him, but the fact that moves past this? yes, it took a tragedy, but sometimes you need something big happening to realize.
Peter is inherently a good person, but he's also,,, short-sighted at times. he can royally fuck up because he was trying to do the right thing and just really missed the mark. but I honestly thinks this makes him more likable. intent doesn't change the affect, but if you're a vigilante, you're gonna fuck up from time to time. he's always been a hero grounded in reality and I don't think that makes him any less of a good person.
speaking of trauma, the fact that he hated working with other heroes for the longest time is mwah chef's kiss. mans did not make a real friend until college so, like, of course he's gonna have problems trusting other heroes. (especially since most heroes have tried to kill him but that's neither here nor there.)
this is one of the times I will be ragging on MCU Peter so skip to the next paragraph if you don't want that. there are many reasons not to like MCU Peter wanting to be an Avenger so goddamn bad, but one of the ones that irk me so much is the fact that it just gets rid of so much character development. 616 Peter had to learn how to trust heroes, to trust people, with something as serious as his life after being tormented by basically everyone that wasn't his caretakers. he now works with heroes just fine but like??? it's been a long ass time you can't just skip all that.
anyway, moving on. another thing I just fucking love about 616 Peter is how he is just a ball of fucking rage. this is basically never explored outside of 616 but it is genuinely one of my favorite parts of the comics. this man has been put through so many things and he is just so. done. like the canonical reason why him having Venom is a bad idea is because Venom specifically will go feral when their host is pissed and Peter is, to state again, a ball of rage.
like, yes, sometimes he doesn't kill because ✨moral compass✨ but more recently a lot of the times he hasn't is because The Giant Web That Holds The Entire Multiverse Together Said No.™️ I could make a whole post about how much I adore Spider-Totem stuff, and I just might, but my point is Peter is just done with shit and life in general and I love it.
this is so rambly and not gonna go over everything I want it to, but I'm gonna get powering on until I have to go to bed.
I also genuinely love how even though they will never come out and say Peter is any sort of queer of way, he is so queer-coded. his relationship with many of his male friends is fruity as FUCK and Peter straight wore a crop top with the word animal across it and booty shorts. (if you've never seen it, let me treat you.)
Tumblr media
this hasn't even covered half of what I know I want to cover so let me speedrun some points before I literally pass out.
Peter "I'm partial to clones" Parker and his relationship with Kaine and Ben is my favorite relationship dynamic (/p) in all of 616. the fact that they are just absolute bastards to each other but only they are allowed to be. no one else can touch the others.
Peter's closest hero friendships being Daredevil, Wolverine, Johnny Storm (I can't remember his hero name right now I think I'm officially losing it,) and Deadpool is so fucking good. he just loves someone that he can argue with and that is also my ideal friendship. just absolutely besties and fuck with each other but will absolutely kill for each other.
I love Peter being a teacher and/or mentor SO MUCH. please I need more of it, no one appreciates how good of a teacher he is and it's mean. :(
his guilt. man as someone with an awful guilt complex I just,, adore his so much. the way that every other character is like "woah dude chill" is just so fucking funny to me as he mentally just shuts down because oh god how dare he not be perfect.
unrelated but the fact that Miles can tell the difference between how Peter and Ben talk is literally one of my favorite facts. like that says two things.
Miles knows Peter so well that he knows the way he talks and
Peter and Ben have become such different people that they talk with different speech patterns and/or in different tones of voice.
personally, I headcanon that Ben rambles more and talks in a higher register but kyldktdoy this is off topic- (I should make a Ben post too.)
okay, I'm delirious, the point is: Peter is a really interesting and good character and I love him so much. I personally resonate a lot with how he handles trauma and I think it's well done. but stldykd that's just me.
I'll add on later because I know I have more to say.

sorry if u already made a post on this, just found ur acc but could u explain more about ur thoughts on jane foster? i’m so curious bc i always thought she was a bit of a bland mary sue and kind of a damsel in distress bc early marvel didn’t know how to write a strong (in the sense of well developed not like girlboss) female character. and i actually was excited for thor 4 to get better characterization for her! i don’t remember rag that well to say how she was in it besides the flashback??? time travel??? thing??? but i do remember seeing dark world and liking everything but her character so i’m v curious on ur pov
Hi👋🏼 I actually really like Jane and she’s one of the my favs! That’s probably a really unpopular opinion, I know, but it’s true.
I’ve always been a lover of astronomy and seeing Jane be so passionate about it made me very drawn to her. Not to mention, it was refreshing to see a female character that wasn’t just a bunch of toxic male traits mixed together under the guise of “feminism”
She actually isn’t a damsel in distress or a Mary Sue tbh???
Like, a Mary Sue would be a female character that is adored by everyone, made the center of everyone’s universe, and never has to struggle for anything. And Jane isn’t that?? Sure she’s the love interest of Thor, but she does struggle like when SHIELD takes her research in the first and when she has the Aether in her.
And also she’s not that much of damsel. She literally slapped Thor and punched Loki without a second though, was ready to throw hands with SHIELD for taking her stuff, and fought off Malekith with science! And the fact that she was able to hold onto the Aether for so long was impressive to say the least.
Just cause she doesn’t fight physically like every other female character doesn’t automatically mean she’s a damsel
I’m not surprised you don’t remember Jane in Gagnarok cause well… she wasn’t in it. Mainly cause of the director. Lots of fans wanna say it’s cause Portman didn’t wanna come back, but in reality, Marvel never called her back.
And it’s not like TW wanted her back. He literally called Jane and other female characters from the Thor franchise “boring and pretty”, with Valkyrie being more on Thors level cause she’s “one of the guys”.
It’s that type of fake feminism bullshit of “women can only be strong when they act more like men” It’s why they’re doing the whole Lady Thor thing; not because of the story in general, but so Jane can stop being “boring”
To “fix” her
And to see so many fans eating it up, acting like they’ve always loved Jane just irks me to no end and further solidifies the fact that mcu fans only care about female characters when they kick ass
So while Jane looks beautiful in the new film, I’ll not watch it even for her cause I just know that TW will make her another girlboss like he’s done with Valkyrie and people will call him “progressive” or something.
But anyways, thanks for the ask! Hope this answered your question😁👌🏼

hello! long time fan of your mcu opinions here keep up the good work👍 not sure if you read fic let alone mcu fic but I am here anyways to recommend “when i die i’ll sacrifice (more than enough for the afterlife)” by notcaycepollard on ao3! it’s an endgame fix it fic and like the only one I’ve ever read bc I stumbled across it by accident. it’s a natasha/maria hill fic let’s go lesbians but that isn’t the main event it’s just there doing it’s thing. i enjoy the whole series tbh. actually wait if you were the reason i stumbled across it in the first place you have my thanks. or if you have already read it isn’t it so good!! (disclaimer I haven’t read any of the authors other works or know what they’re into but they seem to be an endgame hater which was good enough for me) anyways that is all peace and love
thank you for the rec!

i just reached 1990s spider-man comics. almost halfway there in terms of years, definitely not in terms of comics though (i guess there were a TON in the 90s, and the 60s was pretty much just amazing spider-man which meant it had the fewest)
i'd heard before starting the 80s ones that that was widely considered the best decade for spider-man comics, and it certainly lived up to it. roger stern's run was really good, hobgoblin was a pretty interesting villain up until they screwed up at the end after 4 years because the people making the comics all had different opinions on who should be under the mask and were even sabotaging each other (instead of just using the guy who was originally supposed to be him. which i guess got fixed via retcon in the late 90s)
secret wars was pretty good (only because the heroes and villains involved largely weren't that interested in playing the beyonder's game, and dr doom derailing the whole thing made it interesting)
and secret wars ii asked the question of "hey wouldn't it be fucked up if there was a guy who had unlimited power to do anything and he just wanted to try to figure out what his place was in a universe he could fundamentally change with a whim" and yeah it was fucked up. and that's what made this one interesting
also we finally have people who know spider-man is peter parker and don't either die or lose their memory soon afterward, which was the case for like 20 years. mary jane comes back after being completely absent from the comics for a couple years or so, and reveals she'd known peter was spider man "for years" (later revealed to be since the night uncle ben died, which was long before they'd even met) and then peter has someone to talk to about spider stuff
anyway. 90s had a lot going on. i guess there's more symbiote stuff (venom was introduced in 1988, carnage should probably be on his way soon), and then there's infinity gauntlet/war/crusade which if anything should be better than what the mcu did with them
and then there's the infamous clone saga which apparently lasted about 2 years, and with 4 ongoing monthly series ("spider-man" starts in 1990) that'd mean about 100 comics? yeah no wonder people got tired of that. i'll see how it goes though
also i'm reading about other spider-people too (keeping an eye on appearances of jessica drew and julia carpenter, the two spider-women so far, as well as reading spider-ham on the side--a few more 5-page stories and he's gone until like 2010) so i'll be starting 2099 after i get into 1992
tbh even if the 90s and newer comics arent as good, the fact that i'll be reading stuff from within my lifetime should probably do something for my enjoyment of them. like yeah the 80s ones were great but it still had that "this was before my time" quality to it you know

6, 7, 8, 10, 13?
YES THANK YOU. BLESS YOU.
6. Which ship fans are the most annoying?
Oh, God. Um. Most of the popular ones, if I'm being honest. There are a bunch of different ways I could answer this, from "it's everywhere" to "people misunderstand this canon dynamic" to "people make disgusting bigoted comments toward another, '''in the way''' character" to "most destructively moralistic" so I'll talk about the fanbase that historically has encompassed all of these, which is. The J*hnlockers.
I don't think I can EVER explain how utterly unhinged (derogatory) this fandom was when the show was airing. People straight-up labeling their analyses as a "conspiracy," convincing others that there was a Super Secret Actual Finale Episode that would "fix" their ship not being canon. They paired the main villain up with a character who didn't even exist in canon because doing anything involving the women was, presumably, too much to ask. The absolutely horrendous things they would say about the female characters, ESPECIALLY to fans of them who were minding their own business. (Also, they called one of the gay co-creators "actually a straight man" for not canonizing this ship which is completely and utterly WILD to me.) Genuinely there was NO space more unsafe fandom-wise that I have EVER been in. I cosplayed Irene for a con one time and, though luckily nothing happened, I was AFRAID FOR MY LIFE THE WHOLE TIME. Like. The level of vitriol and misogyny and biphobia (I'm not even going to get into that one) was UNREAL. To the point where genuinely I hope we never get new content of any kind so I don't have to think about people who act like this ever again.
7. What character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
...........at the risk of getting murdered. MCU Steve. He was just kind of. There. To me. I didn't particularly care about him because he read to me as "generic good guy" which isn't an archetype that particularly resonates with me, but...then the fandom just. My God. Saying that EVERYTHING he ever did was right, that NO ONE had any points when they questioned him, that he EPITOMIZED goodness in a way no other character did ever, that anyone who liked Tony (or anyone who was ever perceived as being in Steve's "way" about anything, don't get me started on how people treated Sharon) was A War Criminal Apologist Irl and was Singlehandedly Upholding Every Type of Oppression, like it was. SO annoying. I went from indifference to borderline-hatred out of spite.
8. Common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
GOT SEASON 8 WAS NOT THAT BAD, GOT SEASON 8 WAS NOT THAT BAD, GOT SEASON 8 WAS NOT THAT BAD, GOT SEASON 8 WAS NOT THAT BAD, GOT SEASON 8 WAS NOT THAT BAD, GOT SEASON 8---*I am forcibly removed from the building*
(On a more, uh...eloquent note, Lady Macbeth is not a badass gender-binary-shattering Girlboss™ femme fatale, she is a complete mess struggling with layers and layers of psychological issues that she does not let herself process, as well as a HELL of a lot of internalized misogyny. I love her, too, but this creation of her into some sort of suave or cool monarch lady genuinely baffles me. But then again, this play was my Capstone Research Project my final year of college and I wrote a 50-page paper on it, so maybe I'm a little too invested in how people present her, lmao.)
10. Worst part of fanon
Tbh, everyone who insists that two characters [usually (cis, white, abled) men] MUST be in romantic love because they care about each other. Like...don't get me wrong, I love looking at a LOT of non-canon pairings through a romantic lens because It's Neat™, but showing physical affection or willing to throw down/break the law for someone or calling them things like "admirable" or "amazing" are not? Inherently romantic?? Like by so many people's standards I'd be in romantic love with all my platonic friends, I guess, and that's very annoying. Romance isn't the only kind of love that exists!!! Nor is it the only important or significant one!!!
(On a more specific note, there's a fairly pervasive idea that Aki/Himeno is...a grooming relationship? When according to the established timeline and personal events that would. Literally be impossible. People take the "I'm not old enough to smoke" line that happens not long after they meet as some sort of confirmation that Aki was, like, fifteen or sixteen at the time? Or something? Instead of like. Nineteen. Dude has to have time in the three years he's known her to change significantly in appearance, become old enough to smoke (the legal age for that is 20 over there btw), and develop a substance dependence. And given the visual markers of Himeno's appearance when the two of them meet and how drastically her appearance changes in the intervening years, she can't be more than a couple of years older than him? People also take a comment that's meant to convey that he's been at his job three years longer than another character as saying that he's only three years older age-wise than said character. Which, again, given the timeline. Would be impossible. And also. There is an example of grooming in this story! It's really important to the plot actually! It's meant to be seen as horrifying! You would assume that the fact that this relationship is not presented in the same way means something! Don't get me wrong, Himeno's done her fair share of shitty things, but grooming her fight partner was not one of them. There are plenty of reasons this ship isn't for everyone, you don't have to make shit up, lmao.)
13. Worst blorbo-ification
Genuinely I cannot choose between these two, so we're gonna make this post even longer.
Why do people like K*lo R*n. I don't understand. He was given the barest hint of sort-of, hazy tragic "backstory" and people...very much disagreed with me when I said I didn't think that was enough from a narrative standpoint to actually mean anything. And that's not taking into account that this blorbo-ification happened before we even knew that. When all we knew was that he felt kind of lost sometimes and killed his dad while helping head up a fascist empire, people went wild, and not in a "I like villains" kind of way. In a "he's MEANT to be read as mentally ill" kind of way (my God, please stop saying this about every character who is mean and exhibits one emotion) and "his parents MUST have been abusive to him" kind of way. Neither of those things. Has any basis in canon. Just. Just admit you like a character who's not a good person. And that you like a ship that's a dark romance. You won't explode, I promise.
The other one is Light. People want him to be a tragic anti-hero SO bad, I am incredibly tired. He went from zero to beyond 100 in the space of a couple of in-story hours. He's not some misguided utopian visionary, he's a hypocrite with a god complex. I have met too many people like this irl to get behind any positive or sympathetic interpretation of this character. (And don't get me wrong. I think in order to most effectively present the Themes™ of the work as a whole, he had to be written like this. I don't begrudge the creator (in this instance, anyway), I begrudge the fanbase. There's actually a lot I could say about this piece of media and general reaction to it, but my God this is already long enough.)

here's a long rant about my the fics i have in mind bear with me
so i have an entire folklore masterlist, and they're supposed to be for tom holland, mcu peter, tasm peter, eddie and steve. but i havent written for the other three in a while so i was thinking of changing all of it for stranger things. but listen to this
(ik cardigan, betty, and august are all connected, i'm using the lyrics)
— so for cardigan, i was supposed to have tom. basically he cheated on reader. the whole lyrics ya ya. and i had "the 1" as its sequel. but seeing as i haven't written for him, i actually had eddie in mind for this tbh but i dont see him as someone who cheats i swear
— then there's august for steve harrington. rich kid, went to vacay at some place where reader stayed. basically summer love with steve harrington WITHOUT a happy ending bc its august
— BETTY FOR ROBIN BUCKLEY. i know its about james, but at the start i thought betty was a wlw song with the whole "so i showed up at your party will you love me will you want me; will you kiss me on the porch in front of all your stupid friends" bc yknow, homophobia in the 80s and i thought this would fit so i'm putting robin buckley in here
— mirrorball for steve harrington. i feel like this is a song abt someone who tries their best just to be noticed, and seeing as steve harrington was kinda a douche in s1 im using him in here
— the lakes for eddie munson. "i don't belong, and my beloved neither do you" just explains it
— my tears ricochet for eddie munson. im killing him in this one
— this is me trying was supposed to be for mcu peter bc DUDE THE END OF NWH and i already have it written but i cant finish it so im stuck between using steve or eddie in this one. eddie bc yknow, the whole freak thing and lets say u guys broke up or something and he just misses you
— seven for robin buckley. the lyric "or hide in the closet" just gave me another lgbt vibe and idk i just want a sad wlw story with robin
— hoax for steve harrington. idk. i'm writing this one for him
— last great american dynasty, idk who i could write that for 😭
— ILLICIT AFFAIRS FOR EDDIE MUNSON X CHEERLEADER!READER. ITS IN THE LYRICS
— invisible string with steve harrington. soulmate au in the 80s? why not
— exile for eddie right after vol 2 where he lives but leaves hawkins bc people still think he's a murderer. he left without telling anyone and when he comes back hes trying to fix everything with you
— peace for steve harrington bc u guys fight demogorgons and shit

Loki thoughts: Sorry but this is the most boring mcu property yet. I just...don't really care about Loki. Glad for the bisexual rep I guess but idk who if anyone was clamoring for more time travel shenanigans in the mcu and tbh a whole show deconstructing Loki's damage just does not interest me. I would rather watch six hour-long episodes about the clean-up crew fixing new york after the avengers break it.

Hello!!!! I'm an absolute fan of your work!!! I've read your series "What I'm looking for" and I loved everything about it. I think I've never seen such a detailed and well thought fic about the MCU and Steve and Bucky. Everything about their past, their feelings, the relationships they crafted, and that sadness and loneliness that surrounds specifically Steve after he comes out of the ice is beautiful. And while I obviously love the Stucky, I think one of my favourite things about your fic is Steve relationships with other people, like Tony, Sam, Natasha... Seriously, you made their friendship seem so organic, so real, they all have so much emotion and baggage and yet they all care so much, they are still sometimes distant, they fight, they don't always agree, they annoy each other, but they care and are trying to built something more. I read some other fics about the Avengers and when they are made to be super friends and family right after the battle of New York that really annoys me (kkkkk), like they literaly just met Clint? How are they like brothers now? None of them know each other but Nat and Clint like ????? How???? I love when they are friends, but they need to built it, and I think you've done it perfectly.
Anyway, super excited to read the other parts of your work!!!! (I'm literally melting and dying with curiosity, begging time to move faster). I'm curiouss about a few things if you could answer, like are you gonna keep everything canon compliant? All the movie deaths in Endgame are still going to happen (if Nat dies I don't thing I will get over it)? Is Bucky going to be snapped? I always thought it was such a wasted oportunity to make Bucky die in Infinity War, because him being there in Endgame with Steve and Tony could make good conclusion for them, and it would make the rebuilding of their friendship feel way stronger...
Again, love your work!!! You are incredible!!!! Big kiss for youuu!!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh wow, hi!! Thank you so much, I'm happy to hear how much you enjoy the series. And I'm especially glad you like the friendship dynamics just as much as the stucky parts themselves, that really means a lot to me. Tbh those relationships between the different Avengers really took me by surprise when I was writing the whole thing, they just sort of... happened? I guess?
Anyway, to answer your questions: Yes, I will stay canon compliant, all the way to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. And yes, that means everrything that happens in Infinity War and Endgame happens in the fic but please don't worry it definitely doesn't stay that way. In the post-Endgame parts, I went into fix-it mode. I've done my absolute best to give everyone a happy ending.
And maybe as a small comfort in the meantime: I'm all but finished with writing the last part of the series!! There's only 3 chapters to go, and then a lot of editing - but once that's all done and dealt with, I'll forgo my established posting schedule and drop large chunks of the series (possibly all of it) in one go. My goal is to get all of it out there sometime next spring, though of course I won't make any promises.
So... yeah. Thanks again so much for taking the time to read my writing and for coming here and leaving such a lovely message in my inbox, you really brightened my day! And of course you're always very welcome to talk to me about the fic, and to ask more questions that may come up, ask for snippets (I'm very liberal with those) or background info. Or, you know, talk to me about the mcu and stucky in general ❤️
