Mel being annoying time

The societal expectation to get married esp as a woman always makes me think of how I believe, at least in the economic climate while I’ve been alive, is meant to normalize (in the United States) not being able to financially support yourself and needing a secondary income to own a home or support a family.

Do I believe all people get married for that reason? No of course not but I think it’s an easy way to get people to blame themselves for not having things. Why shouldn’t someone be able to support themselves comfortably as a single parent. Why shouldn’t a single person afford to own a home. Why should healthcare and basic income be tied to a job and if I, as a single person, were suddenly unable to work for any number of reasons would immediately be at risk without someone else’s income or healthcare to support me.
