Mondstadt Sagau Shimegi AU Drabbles

I'm Alive! 

Sorry this took a hot minute to put out, but here's the Mondstadt edition of the Shimeji AU. I did every playable character from Mondstadt, some of them have shorter sections *cough* Mika *cough* simply because they haven't had much screen time in the game or I don't know them well enough. In the future I might do an update post for some of them. Also this should be treated like crack. Now that this is out I can move on to actually writing the First chapter of To Build A Haven which should be up soon. 

ALBEDO:

Curious but not a menace 

He looks at everything your doing with absolute interest 

He wanders around looking at what you're doing and writing what he observes down on a notepad. 

If He’s really interested in something on the page you're on like a photo or text he will snag it to get a closer look (for those who don't know there is a function that allows shimeji to grab items and take them off screen, this can be reversed by simply refreshing). 

He gets a little miffed when you refresh to get the item back in its correct place but he's not upset for long. 

If you leave your computer he will end up messing around and looking up articles on chemistry and physics, he tried searching up alchemy and he just got led down a rabbit hole that he later found out was all fake.

So there's no alchemy in your world, interesting! 

Uhh Oh! He accidentally duplicated! 

He’s immediately on guard once he sees the duplicate

Is that his twin! No wait, the mark on the twins neck is there!

He realizes it is just a full carbon copy of him that just wanders around mindlessly.

He will get a little antsy if you let the duplicates get out of hand in their numbers so make sure to dismiss the duplicates 

He just wants to study this strange world in peace. 

AMBER:

She confused as hell. 

She waves to you whenever you return from getting up from your computer 

She is the opposite of a menace. 

She almost is too helpful 

She sees her knightly duty in this weird in between world to be of help to you. 

If you're easily distracted while working on something like a document she will wave her hands around and try to get your attention so you get back to work. 

And while she is not an expert in grammar she’ll try her best to point out errors in your sentencing. 

When you're not working on something important she has a lot of fun climbing the walls of your screen and jumping off to glide across your screen. 

If you pick her up with your  cursor and toss her she’ll laugh and glide down

Don't shake her though! She’ll get dizzy!

BARBARA: 

Shy babbie!

At first she's kinda cowering in the corner so confused as to what's happening and in awe of your presence. 

Eventually she chills out a bit but she never fully relaxes.

You got spotify going in the background?

Great! This is how Barbara got introduced to (insert music genre here) or (insert artist here) 

She will be scandalized if you play something with profanity, innuendos, or sexual references.

Like full clutching of pearls

Do not play Squidwards Nose for her. She is sweet baby, she doesn't deserve that. 

I'm sorry if some of yall dont like what I'm about to say… but the moment you play one of Taylor Swift's songs she's hooked.

I'm talking like something from Folklore, Evermore, or Midnights.

Her favorites are Clean, Willow, and Snow on the Beach (she does not like the F bomb in that one though)

She does try to give everything you listen to a fair shot even if it might not be her style.

If she likes the song she will sing and dance along to it.

BENNETT: 

He fall over all the time 

So Bennett will be like climbing the side of your screen and will lose his grip and fall. 

If you catch him he'll be so happy.

Hes kinda wandering around your page

He do be trippin (and not in the fun way) 

There was this time where he picked up one of the items on your screen and didn't know how to set it down.

He ran around scared and confused until you refreshed the page. 

If you pick him up and shake him, he will get dizzy. 

DILUC: 

He’s pretty chill 

He will start wandering the internet if you leave him alone with your computer open

Hopefully he doesn't find your fanfics

Who introduced him to Batman?!?!

JUSTICE FOR MONDSTADT!!!

Not that big into the superhero movies but he does really connect with Batman, who would have guessed. 

Show him the Mt. Dew wine or the Peeps Wine from TikTok and the disappointment will be so evident on his face. 

That's not even wine 

If you do bring up some articles on wine brewing and aging techniques he will read them and take some of the methods to possibly use at Dawn Winery. 

DIONA: 

She small she baby 

Normally she’s chill

But If you drink in her presence be prepared to experience the menace of menaces

Every time you leave your computer unattended expect to come back to either your browser being on a local AA group website or on a study showing the impacts of alcohol on the body. 

She aggressively points at what's on screen whenever you come back

She can be reasoned with if you give her a pat.

She can also be pacified by one of those videos of birds meant for cats

She also likes those games made for cats where it's like a bug or ants crawling across the screen and you gotta crush them. 

She tries to jump around the screen but she short, holding her up to catch all the crawlies. 

EULA:

Eula is confused by modern internet slang 

She mainly stands guard in the corner not wanting to get in your way 

She's in the overly respectful gang 

Don't pick her up and shake her she will seek revenge

Likes the cat videos on facebook though

She like the “going no contact with toxic family” type videos on TikTok since she can relate.

She is by far the most distracting shimeji you can have on your browser

When your working you literally have to dismiss her if you want to get work done

If you leave her on screen when you leave your computer you will come back to her somehow reading Twilight.

The can of worms has been opened and Fischl's Twilight phase has been unleashed.

She also grows to love shakespeare if you ever have to read one of his works for a class

JEAN: 

Like her sister she is also a bit confused

The funny thing is is that she successfully and pretty accurately shuts down alot of bigoted people

KAEYA:

He isnt distracting like Fischl is but he’s like a cat who wants attention so they climb over your keyboard until you gotta move them and give them pets. 

Menace 

He’s the worst when it comes to fishing your fics out of your files when your away 

You gotta lock them up, time to move everything to your phone… rip storage space. 

You accidentally introduce Kaeya to his new guilty pleasure besides Wine… Horse Girl Movies!!!!

It's bad… It's really bad, his favorites are the movies Spirit and Felicity (yes the American girl movie).

The man misses his horse, why do the favonius cavalry have no horses? the captain of the calvary should have a horse!

He also is somewhat interested in the wine industry from around your world. 

He might give you a list of types he would like you to bring if you ever visit their world. 

KLEE:

Protect this one because she's so smol.

But also keep her from blowing up your documents-

She picks up whatever she wants and will set it down in the wrONg place but if you scold her about it she’ll give you puppy eyes and apologize.

And then do the exact same thing not ten minutes later.

She will wander around wherever she can so do not let her out of your sight. Open tabs, downloads, files, browser history, nothing is safe.

LISA:

similar to albedo in that she is curious about everything.

She likes that she can chill out and read whatever comes on screen

One of the worst if she finds your writing

She will correct your grammar and give suggestions while actively flirtily mocking your work. 

Likes making you flustered in the middle of work 

She requested you make her a playlist on spotify so you sit down and show her a few artists you think she would like 

She adds a bunch of music from (Hayley Kyoko, Muna, Clario, Mxmtoon, and Janelle Monae) 

She listens to it when she's on your computer and you aren't around while she looks through the internet.

MIKA:

I don't know this child!!! 

Literally I know nothing, hopefully he gets more character time in future quests

You have to dismiss her sometimes because she asks so many questions, some of which you don't know the answer to.

Give her your Natal chart and she’ll be ecstatic

After she learns everything she can about your world's astrology, whenever you boot up your computer she’ll give you your horoscope for the day.   

NOELLE:

She’s so polite! :D

Doesn’t do much climbing, but when she does it’s to clean the cobwebs in the corners of your tabs.

Will remind you to drink water and have stretch breaks every so often and will be very sad if you don't.

You better clear your browser history before she tries to take a broom to it. she doesn’t deserve to see what you look at, you degenerate fifth.

She either likes ICP or studio ghibli soundtracks; there is no inbetween.

RAZOR:

Precious Puppy™

He is very confused by the internet but he’s still very curious . 

Will patiently watch you work and will bite pop-up ads

Starts looking up pictures of wolves cause he's a precious baby and ends up in the furry community. He is very confused. He is very scared. Save him before he learns what an omega is.

ROSARIA: 

She's chill 

She's easily bored so she will on occasion if you are doing work just dip out 

How did she figure out how to dismiss herself?

Most of the time she leaves when your working 

She will stay if there is a church event back on Teyvat that she wants to get out of. 

If you summon Fischl they will both watch Twilight together 

Though Rosaria will leave after the first movie, she doesn’t like any of the other movies. 

She also has a few strong opinions on the way that Stephanie Meyer handled Native Americans in the book. 

SUCROSE: 

very curious and intrigued by the internet and will watch you work from the top of your tab and take notes.

will ask a bunch of questions about and google the answers when you leave.

got into a fight with a redditor about something sciencey you didn’t understand and battled that man for hours.

She won.

She likes watching ted talks and documentaries when you’re on break and wiLL get lost in wikipedia if you let her. Please don’t let her because she is very small and that website is very big. 

VENTI: 

#1 MENACE!!!

He's up about climbing the walls and flying all about the screen. 

If you are trying to get work done good luck 

If you ask he will sit down and be somewhat quiet 

If you listen to music while you work he will either be singing along to it or if the BPM is fast enough singing and dancing along with the music. 

He likes listening to the music you listen to because he can learn what to perform if you ever come to Teyvat.

He at first will be thrown off if you listen to something that's more on the sexual side ( im talking something like Ayesha Erotica, or cupcakKe) but eventually he gets used to it and has a lot of fun distracting you when those types of songs come on. 

Like Kaeya, he is also interested in the wine from your world. 

You have to tell him to narrow down the list he gives you of wines to bring to Teyvat… it was 2 pages long.

Did I really spend 4 hours working on this after school while having to learn how to use Premiere Pro on the fancy ass computers with hardly any previous knowledge of the program or editing experience? Yes... yes I did. This is called insanity, fellas.

Unfortunately not every part I drew had officially released music. The most noticeable slience is the Mud scene. Nothing much I really could've done about that sadly. Thankfully, most of the scenes I redrew did had officially released music.

It's a working from home day, and so he's mainly just sorting out the social media pages for Hidden Gems, putting in stock orders, and checking release dates, as well as coming up with event ideas and possible new drink and snack ideas for Spring. He has a cup of coffee in a Luigi-themed mug close by, and Misty on his lap as he works. He's also got Gamechops' Mario and Chill 2 video playing in the background. He's also making plans for his and the rest of the found fam's counterstrike against Five the monster hunter.

dream trip: He's a huge gaming nerd so he would love to visit Japan someday, even if it's just to visit places like The Square Enix cafe (the Pokemon Cafe in Tokyo) or the Pokemon Center in Sunshine City, Ikebukuro. The Nintendo HQ and Nintendo Museum are also two places he'd love to see. He would also love to see the Aurora Borealis in person one day, so somewhere like Iceland is also on the list.

anything your muse wants right now: He just wants Five to clear off more than anything else at the moment, and he's hoping that he'll be helping to achieve that goal sooner rather than later. He also wants answers to what might have changed since a certain near miss (although he will be getting that answer very soon).

favorite personal headcanons: Mainly Russell's Unfazed Everyman status. His sixth sense and newly acquired immortality aside, Russell is a pretty normal guy. But he's now at the stage where he'll meet a supernatural entity or see someone with supernatural powers and while he might be a bit surprised at first, he quickly gets over that because he's just gotten used to all the weird and wonderful things around him. Another is that even though he's a very kind man who tries to avoid most conflict when possible, he will stand up for his friends and fight if he knows it's the right thing to do. I feel this great ask I got sums it up pretty well.

favorite quote of the hour: When it comes to quotes that speak to him and that he tries to follow, Zidane's "You don't need a reason to help people" from Final Fantasy 9 has stayed with him since he was a kid, and it's one his mind tends to go back to a lot.

When it comes to a quote that he himself has said, I like "We, we played you two like, like a kid's, like a kid's first pair of, of crap-crappy cymbals." which he said after he and Willow (from @theotherrookie) tricked a pair of Twin mercenaries into getting themselves beaten in a fight (Russell made them believe it would be a simple job of kidnapping and interrogating him), forced to surrender after Willow curb stomped them, and then captured in this particular post.

I’m not an artist, but I just saw some people sharing the end credit art from Willow, and it made me wonder if people would want copies posters I made for my room using the end credit art.

I don’t really know how to use photo editing apps, so I just took screenshots of the credits (I had to combine 3 different Jades, since they were all so blurry 🤦‍��️), sent them to my phone to remove the backgrounds, send them back to my computer to use Lunapic to play with colors/saturation/transparency/contrast etc., and then compiled them in Google Slides. 😂

OK, but what is the point of retconning Jenny Calendar’s background in Surprise/Innocence?

Setting aside for a second all the reasons it’s a bad idea - the lazy stereotypes about the Romani people and their supposed links to magic and fortune telling and curses it perpetuates, the fact the script has Jenny’s uncle explicitly say that the Romani are not like “the modern man”, the fact that the Kalderash are a real group of human beings (though not a “tribe” as the show insists on calling them), who probably shouldn’t be treated as fodder for a silly fantasy television show, the fact that later in the season (in Passion) it becomes apparent that the writers don’t know the difference between Romani and Romanian, the fact that neither Robia Scott nor Vincent Schiavelli actually have any Romani heritage, the fact that the show itself doesn’t ever use the word “Romani”, prefering instead to use a word that was recognized as a slur even in the 1990s – what does it actually add to the story that the show is trying to tell?

The “Janna of the Kalderash” retcon comes completely out of nowhere, so there’s nothing intentionally odd or ambiguous about her prior behavior that it can be used to explain.  Surprise briefly fakes that Jenny is going to try to do something to hurt Buffy, but no: she’s just taking her to the Bronze for her surprise party in a slightly weird way.  Jenny encourages Angel to leave town with the Judge’s arm, but: (1) this was actually a good idea which everyone agreed with and he should have done it and (2) he didn’t.  

And it’s made very clear over the course of these two episodes that Jenny doesn’t know anything about the curse’s loophole until after the fact.  The first thing she does on finding out the curse has been broken is to rush back to the school and help to save Willow’s life.  So her entire “betrayal” of Buffy (a girl she’s known for less than nine months and who she hasn’t ever been allowed to have any emotional connection with beyond both knowing Giles anyway) boils down to her doing … what, exactly?  All those times she tried to break Buffy and Angel up?  The ones that never happened?  Not telling Buffy that the people who cursed Angel to suffer for eternity secretly wanted him to … still be suffering in the present?  Not sharing her family tree unprompted with a teenage girl she doesn’t even know and who doesn’t seem to ever attend her classes?  I genuinely don’t understand exactly why Buffy is meant to be upset at her. 

Literally the only things I can see that this twist sets up are:

Providing another excuse for Giles and Jenny to break up (an excuse which we simply didn’t need! They only got back together at the very end of Ted, which was the most recent episode Jenny was in!  Just drop that subplot if you want to keep them separated!  Is it really so important that this time it’s Giles breaking up with her and not the other way around?)

Allowing for a scene where Buffy attacks a teacher in a crowded classroom, something that – while certainly a memorable and striking moment – is never followed up on despite the multiple witnesses and the fact the school’s principal is canonically always looking for an excuse to expel Buffy

Giving Jenny a reason to want to try to restore Angel’s soul later in the season, a reason that she 100% does not need.  You’ve already established that she knows magic!  That was part of her characterisation in her very first episode!  She could just be trying to help!  You know, the way Willow will do later on?  Why does she have to be doing this as some weird form of self-imposed penance? (Why does she not do any magic this season before the retcon?)

Introducing a means by which somebody can explicitly spell out to Buffy (and the audience) exactly how Angel’s curse was broken (first in her conversation with her uncle and then again in the computer lab with Giles and Buffy)

You don’t need to do the first three of those things at all, and you can do the fourth in practically any other way.  Have a flashback!  The Buffy writers and costume department love flashbacks!  Let Buffy learn about it in a dream – this pair of episodes is full of prophetic dreams!  Have somebody find something hidden away in the library – that works for literally every other bit of magical nonsense, doesn’t it?  Have Jenny find out by digging around on the internet, if it’s so important she be involved.  Use the fact she’s meant to be good at that!  Hell, have “Uncle Enyos” turn up and deliver his own exposition directly to Buffy, if you really must include a Romani character in the present day.

What does Jenny Calendar not really being “Jenny Calendar” add to the episode or the season arc or the wider show?  Why give her an uncle for Angelus to kill if she’s never going to mourn him or mention him again?  Why have her buried under the name “Jennifer” -- a name she never actualy uses while alive -- if you’re going to make a point of telling us it isn’t really hers?

(The frustrating thing is that I think that Surprise and Innocence are both very good!  Innocence in particular is probably the best episode of the show so far.  Maybe the best episode of the whole show.  Almost everything about these two episodes is really really good.  And then there’s … this.)

jumping on the reaper's rewards bandwagon

Hey hey! It's about time I posted content from my own game, don't you think?? Well here ya go - a break from all the CC finds I keep spamming.

So the "Reaper's Rewards" event is a thing going on now. I saw quite a bit of people in several Sims 4 subreddits showing off their goth/emo/vampire/that kind of dark aesthetic sims they're using to participate in the event (with a few of them also romancing and having kids with the Grim Reaper as a result), so I thought I'd contribute my own character!

Sanguinaria Addams ("Gwen" for short) is going to be the Grim Reaper's little assistant in this event! I've actually shown her before in a previous post where she happens to be the girlfriend of Cassandra Goth. She's actually my Addams Family fan character, though she's kind of a general, all-purpose character as well. She's a mall goth who loves to mix her love of 'girly' things like fashion, hair styling, and makeup with her interest in all things dark and macabre.

She's also quite the enthusiast in seeking out supernatural creatures, including the Grim Reaper himself!

I took a pretty long break from the game, so Gwen had quite a bit of catching up to do with a bunch of weekly tasks that have already been released. ^^;

First, Gwen got some mail from the Ambrosia Society Newsletter, which basically told her to start planting snapdragons so she could harvest and cook with them to make ambrosia. She planted a snapdragon as well as a lily, and did a bit of research on them. She learned a lot!

After that, Gwen figured she needed a break from research for bit, so she decided to head to the Willow Creek Archive Library to just chill and read just for fun. While there, she ran into her girlfriend's little brother, Alexander! Poor kid was all alone, lmao. He seemed to be having fun playing on the computers, though!

Gwen and Alexander got along well (they had good compatibility!), so she figured he might be interested in what she'd been researching........ though she tried not to mention anything scary or related to death/the Grim Reaper.

Gwen: "Fishing, huh? That's cool. Seems like you know quite a bit about the stuff meant to make you live forever."

I just thought it was pretty cute how Alexander was so happy to talk with Gwen. Such a pure boy, protect him at all costs. (and hope he doesn't go bald when he ages up into a teen)

After a bit, Mei Prescott (the principal of Copperdale High School) showed up and Gwen figured she might as well talk to her too. I imagine she and Cassandra went to Copperdale as students and only really saw 'Mrs. Prescott' one or two times for minor misdemeanors (mostly not following the dress code), but were otherwise good in their classes and graduated with decent grades.

Unfortunately, good old Mrs. Prescott didn't seem too thrilled to engage in such a 'trivial' conversation with her former pupil. She told Gwen what she already learned from Alexander, after all.

Then again, it could have been worse: if Gwen hadn't changed into a more 'proper' outfit, maybe Mei would have yelled at her even more for dressing inappropriately and 'not learning' from the times she spent in her office.

...Or maybe it's already kind of bad, considering Gwen thinks good old Mrs. Prescott is old and used up, LMFAOOOOO

Finally, after cooking a recipe (you actually have to be level 3 or higher and I just maxed out Gwen's cooking level with cheats so it was more convenient lol) and replacing her old record player with the "Grimophone", Gwen got to summon and meet the Grim Reaper himself........ without having to sacrifice another sim!!

I think I actually took the above screenshot because Gwen was sharing melancholy thoughts with Grimmy (she has the "gloomy" trait) and I just thought it was funny how he looked super shocked about it. Go figure, the harbinger of death and despair itself acts all surprised Pikachu at a goth girl (probably) talking about death.

or maybe she just divulged her self-insert fanfiction she'd been writing with him in it.

Did I mention Grimmy showed up in a flirty mood??? 😂

WIP Wednesday-Cooking Channel AU

Alternatively called ‘Daya and Willow (figuratively) roast Bosco’s lack of cooking skills’

“What do you want me to bring to the Deja’s dinner party?” Bosco asked as she looked at the text invite on her phone.

“Some nice napkins would be good,” Daya responded, not looking up from her laptop.

“Maybe some extra Tupperware too,” Willow added from the recliner, looking through the Netflix menu.

“I meant as in food.” Bosco said with a sigh, “I can’t just show up to a potluck with decorative napkins and call it a day.”

Her two roommates looked over to her spot on the couch, “It’s better than giving our friends food poisoning.” Willow said.

“I’ve never given anyone food poisoning, thank you very much.”

“Only because Kerri realized that the chicken you made was still raw and nobody wanted salmonella,” Daya said as she closed her laptop. “My sister said that Jo-Ann’s has some seasonal napkins on sale this week, maybe bring some fake flowers too,” she said with a smirk.

“You two are hilarious,” Bosco sarcastically said, sitting up hoping to be taken more seriously. “I’m not that bad at cooking.”

“We barely trust you alone with the toaster, and the microwave is still questionable,” Willow said, settling on an old thriller movie.

Bosco thought for a moment, watching the beginning of the movie absent-mindedly. It’s not that she always hated cooking, she just never needed to learn how to do it. Her parents taught her sister, Irene, how to cook but she was never interested in joining.

As she watched the killer in the movie take its first victim, a realization hit her.

It’s never too late to learn, and the internet was right there at her fingertips.

After the movie was over, Bosco snuck off to her room and told her roommates that she was going to bed early. “I have an early shift tomorrow, and I need sleep.” Luckily Daya and Willow didn’t ask any questions and told her goodnight.

Pulling out the laptop she rarely used and settling herself on the bed, Bosco stared at the Google homepage. She wasn’t sure where to start for her search, maybe cookbooks? Or watch the Food Network? She had no idea how other people taught themselves how to cook.

A couple of hours into reading some unhelpful articles of easy beginner recipes and advertisements for meal delivery kits, Bosco’s eyes grew tired and she needed a break.

The living room was dark again as Bosco entered the kitchen for a quick snack before trying to tackle Google again. Settling on a couple of pieces of cold pizza and La Croix, she made her way back to her bedroom but bumped into a taller body in the hall.

“Shit, sorry.” Daya was holding her phone horizontally and pulled out one of her Air Pods with her free hand, “I was watching this YouTube video and didn’t hear you come out.” she explained but got Bosco’s attention.

“Wait, YouTube?” she asked. It was somewhere she usually used to listen to true crime videos as background noise, but maybe it could help her now.

“Yeah, I found this guy that does these video essays that are like five hours long about-” Bosco stopped paying attention to her roommate’s long explanation as she quickly said that she needed to get something done.

Searching through the recommended channels, Bosco narrowed down the different videos that popped up as she ate.

Some of the people in the videos talked too much and didn’t show much about cooking. Others were recreating food from different movies and TV shows and made it look too complicated.

Growing tired of clicking through all the videos and trying out different channels, Bosco let the videos play on autoplay as she lay down and pulled the computer on her chest.

Her eyes grew more and more heavy, and just as she was considering going to sleep, her thoughts were burst by peppy instrumental music, followed by two meows before the actual video played.

A young blonde woman appeared on screen in a clean, but small kitchen. She had baby pink utensils and pans displayed behind her as she spoke to the camera.

‘Hi everyone, and welcome back to my kitchen! My name is Jasmine, and today we are going to make some lemon chicken with orzo pasta. We’re going to be making my usual creamy sauce to go with this. But if you need a refresher on anything, you can find my Basically the Basics series in a playlist on my channel.”

Learning the basics was probably a better place to start. Bosco paused the video and clicked on the channel, and there was a pink banner that said Jasmine’s Kitchen in bubbly font with two drawn cats. Jasmine’s profile picture was her in an apron with printed cats, posing with a mixing bowl and smiling.

Bosco found this girl in the video cute, so she wouldn’t mind learning from a pretty girl on how to cook.

After all, if you don’t set yourself some guidelines, how will you know when you’ve crossed over them? This may include a variation on the Wiccan Rede, or some similar concept. - A Dedication: If you’ve been initiated into a coven, you may want to include a copy of your initiation ceremony here. However, many Wiccans dedicate themselves to a God or Goddess long before they become part of a coven. This is a good place to write out who you are dedicating yourself to, and why. This can be a lengthy essay, or it can be as simple as saying, “I, Willow, dedicate myself to the Goddess today, June 21, 2007.” - Gods and Goddesses: Depending on what pantheon or tradition you follow, you may have a single God and Goddess, or a number of them. The cafe is nice. Comfortable. A good place to be for hours at a time, working at his computer while he waits for something to happen. 

He only had to wait about three hours. As soon as she arrived, he started watching her. She’s sharp; she noticed pretty fast. He doesn’t look away when she looks back; he keeps on watching, expression blank, unreadable.

Wishverse for the Wips? Always interested to see where people would go with that

I already talked about this one here, so here’s more. Writing Kendra’s relationship to her version of the scoobies has been fun, Amy and Larry more or less fill Willow and Xander’s places, I know I want to do something with Oz being a werewolf, and Micheal is pretty much a blank slate so it should be fun coming up with some background for him. Like I said in the last ask I also want to give Jenny a larger role. Here’s what would be her introduction:

Janna Kalderdash had one job: keep tabs on Angelus. She had been doing pretty well at that job, following him from place to place. She even came up with a tracking spell that connected to her computer. If Angelus moved but she needed to wrap up some things before following him, with a few clicks she could find his location easily.

Or she had at least, until one day it didn’t work.

She last tracked him somewhere outside of LA. From there the program refused to cooperate, sending her on a wild goose chase. She finally got some answers from this cute witch she'd met in New York and was able to fix the issue without much trouble; finding that he was in a little town called Sunnydale. Though the signal was weird for some reason. She soon found out why.

Apparently Angelus was nothing more than a few dust particles in a condemned factory slated for destruction.

Company Insights — Week 9-10

From our first visit to Premium Bikes, I gained valuable insights into the dynamics of working in a retail environment. During our interview with Nel Jun Camaro, the assistant marketing manager, we explored the background of Premium Bikes, the challenges, and rewards of his role within the company. Nel shared that while the work can sometimes be stressful, it still is manageable due to the structured nature of his responsibilities and the routine of it all. As a marketing assistant mainly selling motorcycles, his main goal is to meet the sales quota, which provides him a sense of relief and accomplishment when achieved. This made me realize the importance of clear objectives in reducing workplace stress, as having a role where success is measurable and achievable can bring a sense of satisfaction and stability among employees.

Our visit to Roselai’s Collections gave me a better understanding of the retail clothing industry. I learned that their clothes come from imported bales, which seems to give them an edge over other stores in the area. Their strategy of displaying their best pieces at the front of the store worked well to catch our attention. During our interview, Iris, the supervisor, shared that the owner’s love for fashion inspired her to start the business. It was interesting to see how someone could turn a personal interest into a successful venture. Iris also mentioned the owner’s growing interest in makeup and facial aesthetics, which could lead to another business in the future, showing how passions can open doors to different opportunities.

Speaking of turning a passion into something profitable, I was fascinated by Willow Cafe’s Taylor Swift-inspired concept. It’s clear that a lot of thought and love went into creating this space. With its cozy ambiance, photo-worthy spots, Taylor Swift merchandise, and a good selection of food and drinks, it’s easy to see why it appeals to fans. During our interview, barista and manager Jay-R Edurot shared that while the cafe had a strong start, they’ve faced challenges with sales. Limited parking and issues with signage make it harder for people to find them. It reminded me of their opening week when the cafe was trending on social media and drew a lot of customers because of its unique theme. This made me realize how important it is for businesses to adapt and improve, using strategies like better marketing or updates to keep customers coming back.

Honyun Computer Store stood out to us for its warm and lively atmosphere. The staff were welcoming and seemed to enjoy working together, almost like a close group of friends. It made me think about how a positive work environment can boost morale and make daily operations smoother. The store’s appearance also caught my attention, it looked new and polished but still felt a bit underutilized in some areas. Manager Shiela Mae Palle then explained that this branch in Cagayan de Oro is only four months old, which explains its fresh look and room for growth. Despite being new, I think this store shows great potential, especially with its plans to expand to more branches. This highlights how even small beginnings can lead to bigger opportunities with the right strategies and a strong team.

Lastly, a Desmark branch caught our attention because the name was familiar to us, and we were curious to learn more. When we stepped inside, we noticed that this branch exclusively sold Honda motorcycles and offered motorcycle-related services, which confused us at first since Desmark is also known for selling home appliances. This made me realize that not all branches offer the same products and that businesses often tailor their offerings to suit specific markets or locations. During our interview, receptionist Keinryll Ibal shared his journey as an employee. When he first started, he struggled with interacting with customers and found it difficult to adjust. Hearing his story reminded me that learning and growth take time. It’s okay to start off uncertain, to observe others, and to improve step by step until it all comes naturally. It showed me that personal growth is just as important as a company’s success.

Recently, Manny Singh complimented her lovely drawings. Makenna has a huge crush on him but has never spoken to him before.

Kalina and Collin Moss both work with computers. Their son Darien (left) prefers to delve in sports and Marshall (right) also likes computer science but is focused on becoming a videogame developer.

Living next to the goths has been an adventure. While Eloise and Roland Mohr prefer to keep their distance from the Goths, their children have become good friends with theirs. Karli Mohr and Cassandra Goth are besties and Patrick and Stephanie are always hitting up the park with Alexander Goth.

The Madrigal Family

Nadia and Federico Madrigal live the good life. They have high paying jobs, and two well behaved kids. Nadia has preferred to keep her spellcasting abilities hidden but her oldest son, Lorenzo has recently discovered his and asked his mother for advice.

These brothers are on their own and doing great. Van is working hard to become the next boxing champion while also watching over his teen brother Johan.

Animation shows: The art of drawing society (2/4)

Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman

Cartoons are a colorful medium that creators like to use to depict their vision of our modern world. Therefore this series of articles will be dedicated to animated TV, internet shows and movies of this last year that describe with humor and ruthlessness of our contemporary society. Today: a dreamlike film that takes place in the aftermath of a real tragedy: “Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman”

After writing about how our relationship to others and our behavior can be influenced by an imminent disaster in Carol and The end of the world, we will stay in the same type of analysis with Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman. The story takes place shortly after the 2011 earthquake in Japan and the explosion of the nuclear power plant Fukushima. Komura is bewildered as he observes his wife being taken over by the media, which counts the number of tragic deaths daily. One day, Komura came back from his work at the bank only to find his apartment empty. Kyoko, his wife, only left a note on the floor: “Living with you was like living with a chunk of air”. Kamura decides to take a leave from his work and embarks on a journey to Hokkaido. He carries with him a mysterious box. At the same time, we also follow the story of the “poor Mister Katagiri”. A 40 year old bald and tired man. He works tirelessly without receiving any recognition from his boss and co-workers. While working on a particularly difficult matter, he receives a visit from a giant humanoid frog named Frog. The creature convinces him to help him fight Worm, a giant earthworm that is devouring the bowels of the earth. The danger is imminent since Worm is about to create a massive earthquake in Tokyo. In return, Frog offers to help Katagiri in his work.

Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman came out in March of 2023 and it is the first feature film directed by Pierre Földes. Experts in cinematographic animation may have recognized the name of Földes from the famous film director Peter Földes. He was a pioneer in computer animation. Pierre Földes is none other than his son. While he has produced some short animated films, his primary occupation is song composition for cinema and television.

Pierre Földes has conquered the public and the critiques with this first featured film. The movie is well-balanced, with complex and enigmatic French dialogue set in a soft Japanese-like universe. Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman is indeed a movie adaptation of six short novels written by none-other than one of the most published Japanese authors: Haruki Murakami. Murakami’s novels are characterized by magical realism. In his narratives, the character is allowed to experience truly magical intervention in their monotonous daily life. The narrative structures of Murakami's short stories intertwine in Pierre Földes' film, creating a dreamlike aspect due to the crumbling story without beginnings or end. 

Poetry is also present thanks to an original animation that blends 3D animations of the characters' faces with 2D pastel backgrounds. The character's movements have been captured in live action which gives an impression of realism. There are also a lot of transparency effects. These two types of animation seem to create two very different universes: a real one that reflects the stiffness of life and the other one which is the realm of dreams. 

Pierre Földes gives a more realistic interpretation of Murakami's novel. Indeed, the film deals with many social issues. First, it is a fascinating analysis of the different reactions one can have in the face of a disaster. Kyoko, who suffers from depression, finds herself trapped. The terrible news of the earthquake is feeding her pre-existing anxiety. Alone in the dark, her face is only lit by the TV screen and her mind is filled with the victim count. It ends up getting the better of her. She feels so entrapped, she can’t breathe and eventually she leaves. Komora doesn’t understand his wife’s distress, not that the catastrophe is irrelevant to him, he is just more detached. The real tragedy for him is the departure of his wife. At last, Katagiri seems to experience the panic, fear, and paranoia that can arise after a disaster. He tries to navigate through life as he did before the earthquake and cannot stop imagining that a new catastrophe can occur at any moment.

This movie also makes a general assessment of our behavior of how we treat our planet. Worm is a representation of how nature will fight back against our irresponsible actions and of the terrible consequences of our thoughtlessness. The destruction can only be stopped by a more than ordinary person (Katagiri). 

This movie examines many other themes. Komura and Katagiri illustrate how the pressure of hierarchy can depersonalize employees. As Komura experienced the romantic adventure in Hokkaido, we can see an analysis of our sexual behavior and our relationship to our body that deteriorates with age.

Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman is a poetic movie about us, how we cope with tragedy and loneliness. Far from being a nightmare this movie tries to cure our sorrow with dreamlike settings and endearing characters.

It was your recommendation to argumate, actually, in the thread about media literacy.

Have finished the first season. I think that it finally got good (for me) when the evil demon-imprisoning book was "read" by scanning it into a computer, cue confused demon wondering where the fuck he is (and developing a crush on Willow).

My "just put something on in the background while I work on other things" strategy has worked pretty well for finding shows that took some time to get on their feet, which I would have stopped watching otherwise.

Some things that I liked:

The demon hunting (or is he?) dummy double fake-out

Principal Quark

Murder class for invisible children (I wish I'd been a television exec back then so that I could pitch a whole "invisible children doing government sabotage" spin-off where most of the scenes feature empty rooms)

Cordelia getting to be a person

The Master practicing his "my prison is crumbling, I am free" speech.

Also, Buffy is a senior at sixteen? But Willow is treated as the sole smart kid??

watching buffy on your recommendation. "the pack" (s1e6) is such hyena slander. did a lion write this?

First off, I am glad reading about The Bronze webforum antics from the 2000's inspired you to pick up the source material! No writer could ask for any other legacy <3

Secondly, that episode slaps, are you kidding me? Hyenas come off great. Xander goes from the dorkiest man over 6ft humanity could muster to a hottie who can walk the walk and bite the bite. Look at this danger zone:

There is that sequence that is just a minute and a half of The Pack on the prowl in the quad, no dialogue, punk-indie music video energy, sun glazing through their hair - straight up the best scene in Season 1. This is probably the best episode in Season 1.

See, you are falling for the same trick the Lion Executive Producers who green lit it did, which is the whole Buffy MO. This episode is 30 minutes of hyenas being fucking awesome, Xander reaching his sexual peak, and then ofc the good guys shut it all down:

So yeah they gotta be dumb dumbs to wrap the story up at the end. According to The Plot? Hyenas bad, moral delivered, Lion Execs happy. But the audience knows better. They know that Spike rules, that Faith is the best, and that Angelus is way better than Angel. And they know that Hyena Xander fucks.
