Talking about the Crowley Clipped Wing Theory (ft. a small portion of Ethel Cain talk, autonomy and the reclaiming of it, stars, and why Aziraphale loving Crowley's fallen angel traits may mean more than we initially realize)
I will never get over the headcannon that Crowley cannot use his wings to fly because they were clipped before his fall. It hurts on so many different levels, but mostly for one:
It is just another reminder of what he is. What he was made to be. He can do good as a demon all he wants, he can save the world, he can fall in love, he can separate himself from other demons by associating with a different type of animal than we've seen most demons portray (i.e., bugs, reptiles, creatures that are viewed as scary and gross, as opposed to a crow, which despite still being seen as a bad omen, is held in much higher regard) but certain aspects of him will always reap the punishment of simply asking questions. He cannot fly, and in that way, he is once again reminded for eternity that he was cast to slither on the ground as a snake, a creature now commonly associated as a symbol for trickery, malicious behavior, and betrayal, for the rest of time. Like his eyes, it is a permanent reminder that those who were supposed to love him and cherish him cast him out for something so juvenile as asking questions, a reminder that on some level, he loves his creator more than so loved him.
It reminds me so heavily of one of the songs of an album that I think Crowley would really like, Preacher's Daughter by Ethel Cain, specifically one of the lines from Family Tree (Intro),
"And Christ, forgive these bones I'm hiding
From no one successfully
Jesus can always reject his father
But he cannot escape his mother's blood
He'll scream and try to wash it off of his fingers
But he'll never escape what he's made up of"
Like Cain's exploration into generational trauma, Crowley, whether he wants people to see it or not, is still grappling with trying to dissociate himself from Hell because he doesn't believe he belongs there (i.e., "all I ever did was ask questions" "I never meant to fall"). But the world around him, the institutions of Heaven and Hell, have shackled him to it; he can never escape it. He cannot free himself of this association. He can change his appearance (i.e., portraying black wings that look more like a bird than demons, hiding his snake traits, changing his name from Crawly to Crowley). He feels robbed of that autonomy, which is cemented by the fall, taking both his vision (because of his eyes, snake eyes) and his ability to move freely by taking his ability to fly, and he's trying to refine himself by making choices that take it back, which makes it even more crushing when we look at these things he inherently can't get rid of. Like mother's blood, he cannot escape what he's made up of.
And as if that wasn't painful enough, there is also the salt to the already gaping wound by limiting Crowley's ability to fly; they further limit his access to the stars. Heaven knew how much the stars meant to Crowley; he took such pride in his creations, and they were the thing he loved most. They took this into consideration when thinking about his eternal punishment, firstly by taking away his ability to physically see his creations, as his snake eyes cannot see the stars since they are so far away, and then by making it almost physically impossible for him to go see them up close by making it so he could not fly.
Now, Heaven probably doubted Crowley's imagination because we all know he was 100% ready to drive the Bentley to Alpha Centauri with his houseplants, maybe husband, and Queen tapes in tow- but that is beside the point.
Things like his wings and eyes were meant to strip Crowley of everything he had when he was an angel; they're meant to be a punishment, a reminder of the privileges he lost when he asked questions. They are designed to make him feel nothing more than a lowly creature cast to the Earth and make him hate what he is. And that's why theories of Aziraphale loving these aspects of Crowley, finding them beautiful, are so meaningful. Because, at the end of the day, Heaven is no longer what it should have been, Crowley recognizes that. He understands that Heaven, alongside Hell, is dysfunctional and corrupt. So, when he sees this angel, the one thing who he sees as inherently good, the best thing that Heaven has ever produced, loving these things that he's supposed to hate, are meant to mark him as a disgrace to all creation, it's like a freight train. Because, to him, Heaven's opinion doesn't matter. He has Aziraphale, who loves these traits because they are so unabashedly Crowley. Aziraphale loves how he has reclaimed these traits, and for him, that's enough. He may not be able to escape the fact that he's a demon, cast out for something so juvenile as asking questions, and he may never be able to fully separate himself from Hell, but it's in these small strides of stepping away and reclaiming things that were meant to be a punishment, that is so endeared to the only being who he truly loves, that Crowley finds peace. And isn't that just beautiful?

I get it i really do I get why they're clipping their wings but with the new islands and things that are happening and are going to happen can you just let the islanders fly? Begging for them to give them elytra. Praying for mods that give different wings depending on the player. Pleading for flying competitions. Hoping for lore involving flight and the players abilities to do so. Crying for parents to teach their kid how to fly. Wishing for Philza to show why the crows call him birdza. Screaming for jaiden to have the conure wings she so often has in fanart. Kicking for the little bits of rp that would come with that. Wanting to see them rip the binary monster from the sky.

Man it would be so freaking cool if it turned out Caleb had some involvement with the portal door
#HEAR ME IUT HEAR ME OUT#think about it. Dana confirmed that Clawthornes specifically have a think for bird themed palismen#and flapjack is more or less confirmed to be Caleb’s palisman since belos yelled his name ANDDD the thing with the wittebros on that we#newspaper from season 2A right. so unless that was a one off the witch hunters would have had to know they had something to do with witches#since Caleb could only really make flapjack if they were in the boiling isles in ANOTHER REALM wouldn’t the witchunters only find out about#it if he came back and they saw it? and palistrom wood only exists on the isles#AND AND AND based on the nycc clip ppl pointed out that flapjack is kind of familiar with the abandoned house#cause he was pecking at the floor and shit and the other palismen were concerned. so if Caleb managed to get back to the human world maybe#he brought flapjack with him and that’s why he recognizes it#also I don’t think Philip was actually the one who built the portal door. maybe he just included it in his journal because he knew luz would#come along and find it by the time he was belos? and his portal is extremely different from the door because it’s like huge with angel wings#and shit while the door is just a normal ass door#also if you think about it the titan had a way of hiding things from him so maybe that would include the ingredients for the portal too#if he could tell belos would use it for something bad like bringing all the witch hunters to the isles to kill them#so then maybe if the titan figured Caleb was a cool guy he let him find the portal ingredients#which let him go between the realms? ALSO iirc eda found the door not too far from her house and it was half buried in dirt#my theory is maybe even though Caleb had the option of going back he wanted to stay with his wife in the isles and hid the door so Philip#wouldn’t find it or something. maybe he got tired of witch hunting like how he looked tired in the nycc clip#and he wanted to leave that behind. poor dude :o(#idk if this will make sense when the episodes come out but I really want that wittebro lore man#the owl house#toh#the owl house season 3#toh season 3#toh theory#yapping#the owl house theory#toh spoilers#the owl house spoilers

Really liked that Alastor lost the fight in the finale, actually! A lot of people have been saying that they wished he went full power on Adam, but a theory i really enjoy is that he WAS, but he didn’t OUTPUT what he was expecting.
Alastor canonically rose to becoming an overlord INCREDIBLY quickly. a power no being in hell had ever seen before- I don’t think it’s an accident Lilith picked him, and i’m super curious what would have prompted him to EVER sell his soul as a DEAL DEMON. (And even if he didn’t sell his soul directly, making a deal that would restrict him so badly) Like he knows what that does he must have been DESPERATE. He says specifically both that his wings have been clipped, and also that once he figures his way OUT of his deal he will be pulling all the strings. I think his deal was something to do with his power, or whatever let him rise so quickly to overlord status. He’s not exactly used to being properly challenged.
So when his staff broke, it wasn’t even something he thought COULD happen. It’s not “Oh shit”, its “What just happened?” he holds it out in front of him like he expected it to withstand that attack. But he DOESN’T. It freaks him out so badly he drops everything but the smile for a second. You could say he miscalculated Adam’s power, which, sure, but Alastor is good at picking out weakness, i think he just assumed he could take him, or at least distract him for much longer- he doesn’t seem to have an angelic weapon with him so his job could have just been keeping him busy
when we see him in his studio he is downright hysterical. Because he DID almost die, FOR THIS DEAL. Whatever is tying him to the hotel, he let it almost KILL HIM. And the realization he is not as in control as he thought he was shakes him to his core- he goes back to the shattered radio tower just to feel like himself again, battered and bleeding.
TLDR: Alastor isn’t as in control as he thought he was, and i am very interested to know how he killed so many overlords so fast

NOT MINE, but and absolute incredible theory on Ghost in the Trees found on Ghostbc subreddit that is too good not to share. Credit to VisAeternitatus on Reddit.
Tumblr media
“Buckle up. You'll either find this interesting, or tell me I'm insane.
“The "Ghost in the Trees" VHS tape sitting atop the stack of other videos in the movie caught my attention because it simply doesn't fit and doesn't have anything to do with anything that we know of. Kinda like the cardinal sitting on top of the gravestone in the Square Hammer video. At the time, so random- yet it was a hint. We see this VHS tape twice during the movie, and it's sitting on top of an Infestissumam era tour video ‘Haze over North America Tour 2013’
“I googled "Ghost in the Trees" and came across this psychedelic garage art-rock album by a band called Thee Oh Sees. There's a song of the same name on their album, "The Masters Bedroom is Worth Spending a Night In". Other than carnal delights, why might one spend a night in the Master's bedroom? Usually something to do with conceiving the antichrist, right?
“The album cover and subject matter seemed Ghost-related enough for me to continue going down the rabbit hole, so I listened to the entire album. I have no doubt in my mind that TF is familiar with and has listened to this, I get a lot of raw vibes from it that one might perceive in all three Nihil-era songs.
“So why is this here, and what does it have to do with anything? Good question, and I honestly don't know but I just thought I'd throw out some possible breadcrumb trails. This is all some pretty loosely related stuff, but when considered all together who knows?
“1. I immediately noticed a similarity that the devil on Thee Oh Sees album has to the devil in the center panel of the red tour backdrop that started going up during Square Hammer (third photo).
“2. Proximity to the Infest era tour video along with some Papa II-related stuff in the movie also had me thinking "antichrist stuff". No, not that Copia is the antichrist. Rather, that his twin might be.
“Why? Well, during sister's life flashback scene, right before the twin birth is shown, there are a series of hidden images. We see an eclipse, a still shot from the Year Zero video of a hand reaching up towards a church window, a b&w still from the Dance Macabre video where the devil arrives, and two separate shots of Infest era ghouls. (These images go by so fast that they are practically subliminal!)
“So why are we seeing clips from a Papa II era song, and shots of his ghouls? Why do we see a cut to his face on the stained glass stage backdrop during the movie when Imperator is talking about how everything is "cyclical"? We even see Infestissumam in the background of the VEEPS bonus video.
“So I've seen different theories. Papa II is returning! Copia is the antichrist! Etc, etc.
“I think showing all the Papa II stuff could have something to do with the antichrist, not that Papa II is coming back. Infestissumam was about the antichrist's time on earth. Not to mention that some religious people believe that an eclipse supposedly occurs at the birth of the antichrist (and we are shown an eclipse right at the birth scene!)
“Also, we've seen a lot of antichrist type of imagery related to Copia, he's got the 666 tattoo, etc. If he's a copy (Copia), then his twin could be the antichrist.
“3. Back to the red devil background that appears during Square Hammer. There's a winged pope figure shown above the devil. I thought it was Copia, to be honest. But he's wearing a beehive shaped mitre, and the same shaped mitre appears above him, larger and wrapped in flames. This is actually a Papal Tiara, not a regular mitre. It used to be worn when a new Pope was "crowned". Why would a demon winged Copia be wearing this on a backdrop at the end of the tour? He was already "crowned" in Mexico City. And who appears at the Ministry doors at the very end?! Someone who is about to become the next Papa?
“4. I also wonder, who raised Copia's twin? And how could Copia's twin be the antichrist? Do they have two different Fathers, or was it during some ritual?! Does it have something to do with Papa II? Maybe the twin grew up influenced by him in some way?
“5. I also wonder if "Ghost in the Trees" is a musical stylistic hint of sorts, in relation to the Papa II era. This album is psychedelic post punk garage rock. It's an interesting listen and is all over the place stylistically. "Psychedelic" is frequently used to describe aspects of Infestissumam, too, as is garage rock and surf rock, even.
“I recall an interview where TF said that Phantomime was where he was leaning to take the sound for the future album. Well, there's two specific covers on Phantomime that have similar flavor to Thee Oh Sees- "See No Evil" by Television (often described as post punk/art rock/garage rock) and "Hanging Around" by the Stranglers- which has VERY psychedelic/garage rock vibes.
“So do what you will with that, but I'm wondering if the next album is going to have that element (not in the way the Nihil-era songs do, though!).
“Thank you for reading this mess and if you have any better ideas, please do share. I just wanted to get this off my chest.”
Tobias never ceases to amaze me, and I have no doubt there is something to “Ghost In The Trees.”

Continuing my quest on finding good Charlastor content and I keep having Thoughts :)
because most of said content was, understandably, made between the pilot and the beginning of the actual show. And it's not only noticeable by the insistence of having Charlie and Alastor bond through dancing (since in the pilot that's the scene where the two seem to be having genuinely fun with each other), but also because the "creepiest" works (for lack of a better term) do indeed paint Alastor as Charlie's puppeteer, as the one who will push her to the dark side and unlock her demonic potential.
Part of this is still canon. There's all the heavy handed manipulations in ep. 5 where he presents himself as a better father figure than Lucifer and as the only one Charlie should love and trust; and also... well, the everything in the scene in ep. 7 where he finally manages to strike a deal with her lmao.
Tumblr media
(you sure are unusually touchy with her :^) )
And this damning line:
Tumblr media
Yes, Alastor desperately wants to have a hold on Charlie's mind if not heart. Even after he admitted in the pilot that he doesn't believe in her cause, he wants her to see him as a trusty mentor. And while the pilot is outdated in certain aspects, I can almost see traces of this... possessiveness? in the way he kept pushing Vaggie away: he clearly doesn't like anyone threatening his authority, and in that moment, Vaggie and her mistrust were an obstacle in his objective to ingratiate himself with the Princess of Hell.
I also noticed that Alastor is willing to make deals that don't require owning a soul: he cares about being the one in control even if he doesn't gain anything material. He struck a little "deal" with Vaggie just to do things his way, and he struck a more serious (but still not soul-binding) deal with Charlie so that she could owe him one favor. Alastor very much cares about having the upper hand in any situation, even the smallest one.
But then ep. 8 came along. And we get the confirmation that Alastor is bound by a deal. He hates it. It "clips his wings". He clearly blames this deal for limiting his freedom and causing him to nearly die for the sake of his "friends".
Alastor may be more of a puppet than Charlie is, at the moment.
And if the theory that this deal is what is forcing Alastor to protect the hotel... Charlie may be the one holding the strings, without even knowing it. While Charlie is not the one who directly owns Alastor's soul, she might have power over him.
It doesn't help that Alastor, as much of a self-serving liar he is, really seems to like Charlie...
Tumblr media
(He doesn't need to offer her his precious mic that seems to be the source of most of his power. She already owes him a favor, and was shown comfortable enough to talk to him about her personal issues. This is Alastor showing his trust in Charlie.)
Tumblr media
(again, he doesn't need to say this to Rosie, who clearly thinks the world of him)
Tumblr media
(yes, this is about the entire hotel. But my point still stands that it's more earnest than anything we usually see from him)
So now we have a puppet in the hands of an unknowing, kind puppeteer that he actually be mildly fond of... and he wants out of every constraint possible because he wants to pull the strings, damn it all! And he will do anything to gain mental leverage on the one he's been forced to serve!
And I think this is what makes the dynamic even more interesting than a straightforward "manipulator/victim" :)

Skywings Ref
Horns:
Skywings’ horns are light and decorative. Because of this they will not often drill or carve into it like the other tribes.
They will be trimmed down if they are considered to be too heavy but back in the day large and cumbersome horns were a quality of the upper class. So much so that some would graft metal covers that would exaggerate their profile.
Wings:
Skywings have petaled wings that act like flight feathers. They are flexible and sharp along the edge. NO TOUCHING.
Instead of digits or talons along the wing they have a line of spurs that protect the bend of their wings.
Feathers:
Feathers are modified scales; they are strong and flexible like a sheet of thin metal.
Skywings often grow trains that can grow from three locations. It can grow from one or all three locations.
The length and quality of the trains is a sign of status and competence in combat if they are a warrior. Much like a lion’s mane or peacock’s tail, individual health plays a great part in the train’s appearance.
Criminals, lowlifes, orphans, and dragons in subservient positions often have their trains removed via clipping or yanking out. (ouch!)
If a dragon is in a higher social circle and does not grow trains in all locations might find it in them to add feathers. (These can be fabricated, from beloved family members, or trophies from rivals.)
Patterns:
Skywings vary less than the other tribes when it comes to colors, but they do have a number of interesting patterns.
Saturated colors are the sign of a more dominant individual. The brighter they are the better health, mood, and confidence. Or at least that is the general perception.
Each dragon has their own personal range of saturation. What might be considered a “bright” day to them might still look drab to another.
Red is considered the most desirable, especially at full saturation. Yellow and orange often tie in attractiveness. Brown isn’t very exciting but gives off the impression of being a stable if boring person. White is the wild card.
*Blue is exceedingly rare which only one documented individual that was truly blue. All other cases have be dye jobs.
Body Configuration:
Unlike the other tribes Skywings are exclusively bipedal. They never walk on their front talons thus keeping them extremely sharp.
While their hands are perfectly capable of holding things it’s not unusual for a Skywing to pick things up with their feet.
Skywings have unusual vents that resemble Seawings’ gills that they use to take in air without breathing thru their mouth or nostrils. These vents allow Skywings to breathe a continuous stream of fire hotter, farther, and longer than any other. No one is really sure how long a dragon can maintain the stream the longest record is 2 hours straight and only stopped out of boredom.
The vents can also expel fire, if rarely, to help flying and lift off. There is a skill to this, and it needs to be practiced with caution.

Extra:
Storm pattern appear to have correlations to a specific location.
Sky pattern is only uncommon, but the color blue is practically unheard of.
Skywings have shown an ability to change color within seconds, this is associated to levels of emotions. Anger and righteousness make the dragons more saturated, and fear and submissiveness make them duller.
Because of this correlation with brightness higher-class dragons are more saturated overall which causes a false assumption that brighter dragons are more qualified to rule and lead. (They just eat better, are more confident, and are more likely to anger.)
There's a myth that if two Hot Spots have eggs together, they will get a firescales dragonet.
There is a theory that Skywings were the first dragons that the other tribes descended from as they share traits with each tribe that are specific enough not to not shown in any other tribes. Example: Vents= Seawing gills, color change= Rainwing mimicry, etc.

Poly+ ACOTAR Week 2024 - Day 5 (Favourite Tropes)
Cazriel x Healer Reader
Summary: Y/N is eager to learn more about the Illyrians - for healing purposes of course.
Pairing Masterlist
Wordcount: 3.2K
A/N: I had an idea and it ran away from me, hence the title change.
This entire week features some of my favourite tropes (idiots in love and everyone else can see it, aphrodisiacs, friends to lovers, etc) but I’ve focused on wings for this part, along with one bed at the end for a treat 😘
Warnings: wing clipping; female healthcare issues; allusion to domestic abuse; domestic mate stuff; multiple smut scenes (wingplay, PiV, double penetration).
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*✧・゚: *✧・゚:*✧・゚: *✧・゚:*✧・゚:
Reader
For as long as you can remember, you’ve been fascinated with wings.
Every pair you’ve come across has been uniquely beautiful and awe-inspiring, but the thing you envied most about winged fae was their ability to fly.
You have your father to thank for that - for inheriting the call of the wind. A call you’d never been able to answer.
Now, thanks to the Cauldron, you were blessed with two winged mates.
The three of you had been edging around the bond since it snapped a few weeks ago. It hadn’t been formally accepted yet as you all agreed to get comfortable with the dynamic first.
Since you started courting Cassian and Azriel, your fascination with their wings only grew.
You would watch how the strong muscles flex as they carried you in the sky. You would admire them stretching out in the warmth of the sun.
You also started to notice the little quirks both of your mates had.
When they are cold, they tuck their wings in closer to their frame; when Azriel is proud of something, he holds his wings up higher; and when Cassian laughs, his wings flutter as his shoulders rise and fall.
There’s also the quirks during sex.
The subtle twitch and the slight curling of the outer edges as they reach their climax.
Learning about how their wings worked would only make you a better healer, so you spend your limited free time pouring over medical journals and reading Madja’s notes from over the years. The theory was a good foundation, but the best way for you to learn is with practical experiences.
The first time you got to touch them was with Azriel. He had caught you staring at his wings.
He was training on the rooftop of the House of Wind, his wings were fully extended behind him. The sunlight glowed red through the thin membrane. They were captivating.
A few shadows hurry over to greet you, like a playful puppy nipping at your feet.
Azriel turns, smiling at you and catches your gaze. “What are you staring at?” he smirks.
“Your wings are mesmerising,” you say softly.
Azriel stretches them out wider for you, showing off his wingspan before giving you a wink and returning to his training.
He stopped by your clinic later where you were reading through a detailed tome about wing physiotherapy. You were so engrossed in the text, that you didn’t see him slip in.
You jump when you finally notice him towering above you. “Cauldron, you scared me Az.”
“I’m sorry, you make a cute face when you're concentrating, I didn’t want to interrupt. What are you reading?” Azriel walks around to your side of the desk, looking down at the scrawled handwriting filling the pages in your hands. He smirks down at you. “Is there a particular reason that you’re so obsessed with wingspans, Y/N?”
Your cheeks heat, and you look up at Azriel. “I want to be prepared… If the need arises.” You glance at the sharp talons poking over your mate’s broad shoulders.
He leans down and flicks through a few pages of the tome. “The diagrams are good but it’s not quite the same,” he says. “Do you want to examine my wings?”
“Are you sure? I know they are quite sensitive. I don’t want to cross any line.”
The corners of his mouth curl upwards at your apprehension. “It is in my favour to help you, so you can heal me if need be. But, there’s no one I trust more.”
————
Azriel had removed his shirt, allowing you access to his back and wings. His wings were spread, the leathery membrane taut between each bone. Your fingertips delicately traced each ridge as Azriel expanded and contracted his muscles.
Your hands are warm with your healing magic as you gently stroke them against the sensitive skin. Azriel’s knuckles turn white as he grips the tabletop he’s braced against. You can tell it’s taking all of his self-control not to fuck you then and there.
When you ran the edge of his wing between your thumb and index finger, he snapped. Azriel spun around, grabbing your hips and lifting you onto the workbench behind you.
Azriel’s lips are on yours, hurried and hungry as he takes your lower lip between his teeth. You gasp against his mouth as he bites down before kissing along your jawline.
His hands roam your body, branding your flesh with need.
You fumble with the button on Azriel’s pants as he hikes up your dress and pushes your panties to the side. His fingers dip straight in, your core already soaked and throbbing.
You had known exactly what you were doing when you started examining his wings…
You finally free Azriel’s cock from the constraints of his leathers, and he grinds his hips against yours.
Your lips find each other again as he ruts into you; not waiting to let you adjust, you don’t need to. Your veins are filled with lust as he pounds into you. The steady rhythm combined with his thumb on your clit sends you over the edge.
One hand grips behind his neck tightly as you climax, and you reach with the other to run your fingers along the inside of his wing. That stroke was his undoing, and he finished deep inside you.
You feel his cock twitching as you stay in your embrace, regaining your breath.
“Fuck, Y/N, that was…” Azriel pants, kissing your forehead tenderly.
“That was a breach of the healer/patient relationship,” you laugh.
Azriel smirks, “You can take advantage of me any day, angel.”
————
The next time, you tried it with Cassian.
He was underneath you as you rode him. Your hands flat on his chest for support as you rocked back and forth.
You looked at his wings splayed beneath him, and then to his eyes - a silent question.
“I’m all yours, you can touch anywhere you want, angel.
He grips your hips harder, lifting his to meet your thrusts.
You softly trace along a prominent vein and Cassian throws his head back, moaning loudly.
He thrusts up into you without abandon, hitting the spot that has you seeing stars and reaching your climax together.
The sound of your breathing fills the room as you lay down in Cassian’s arms. Your head resting on his chest. He kisses the top of your head. “I’ll never tire of this,” he whispers against your hair.
————
Soon after that fateful training exercise, you began working closely with the Valkyries. If any conflict arose, you’d be stationed with them as a healer. The all-female unit had grown to 50 warriors in the years since its revival. With Nesta now residing in Autumn with Eris, the unit is led by Gwyn and Emerie.
The first time you met Emerie, your heart broke.
Her wings were nothing like the mighty appendages held high by your mates.
They were beautiful but brutal.
Thick jagged scars cut across the planes of her wings, starting at the very base. Her wings had very limited movement, and on cold mornings, you notice a slight twinge in the left one.
Still, Emerie carried herself proudly with her wings as tall as she could manage. A true Valkyrie.
After observing her from afar, your research changed direction. You were driven by your new purpose - helping your friend and the countless females like her.
There were limited existing resources on clipped wings, so you proposed a clinical study to Rhys. He issued approval instantly and, to Lord Devlin’s dismay, he set up a clinic in Windhaven for you to meet with patients.
Many females were scared to visit you, out of fear of retaliation from their husbands and fathers. But there were still many brave souls who came forward, allowing you to examine them.
Progress was slow, but both the physical and emotional support you provided was making a difference.
————
Today you had a female visiting from another camp. You walk into the waiting room with a warm smile on your face. You’re always so proud to see new patients.
“Victoria? I’m Y/N, your new healer. Please come inside.” You say to the female.
She gives you a shy smile, lowering her gaze as she walks past you into your office.
“Thank you for making the trip to see me. I will do my best to help you, however I can. Take a seat on that cot there,” you gesture towards the bed in the middle of the room. You meet her eyes as you continue, your voice filled with sincerity. “I want you to remember this is entirely on your terms. I will only touch you, or offer treatment with your consent, do you understand?”
Victoria nods, brushing a single tear from her cheek at your words.
“Good. If it’s okay, I’d like to see the extent of the damage. Can you show me your range of movement?” You give Victoria an encouraging nod. “Lift, wonderful. Now lower them. You’re doing amazing. And now extend them as far as you can outwards - like you’re stretching.” You demonstrate with your arms, extending them out to the side.
Victoria’s wings shudder slightly as she strains to stretch them out but they barely shift.
“You’re doing so well, I know this is difficult. Can I touch you? I want to get a feel of the scarring if that’s okay.”
She nods hesitantly.
“If you want me to stop at any time, please tell me.”
“Okay,” she says. The first words you heard from her mouth.
“I’m just letting my magic get a sense of the damage, my hand might feel cool along the inner side of your wings.” You move to stand behind Victoria and start on the biggest scar. The tissue is jagged and bumpy, and as pale as the moon. Your healing magic flows through you, washing over the surface of the scar but unable to penetrate. This is the worst case of wing clipping you’ve seen so far. You aren’t sure how much movement she’ll be able to regain, but you have to try.
You walk around the cot to face her and finish your consultation, asking all your standard questions about pain and mobility.
You pick up a glass jar filled with a numbing salve. “I’d like you to start by applying this to the scars once a day.” You demonstrate the amount of product to apply before handing over the jar. “If you’re particularly sore you can apply it a second time. You may need some help reaching around the back, do you have someone at home that you trust?”
“I live with my sister and her family. She’ll help,” Victoria says.
“Okay good, if you do need somewhere to stay during the treatment, it can be arranged. And if you don’t feel safe, we can help with that too.”
Victoria nods in thanks.
“I’ll see you again in 4 weeks. If you run out of the salve, send word.”
“Thank you, Y/N.” Victoria smiles at you, looking more hopeful than when she first arrived. You help her into her coat and escort her out of the clinic.
Once outside, you look up and see the sky is swirling with storm clouds and the sun is just about to dip behind the mountains. The wind howls through the surrounding trees. A big gust hits you and you feel the ice in your very bones.
You bid goodbye to Victoria and trudge home. On clinic days you often stay in Rhys’s mother’s cabin with your mates.
Warmth envelops you as you step over the threshold, along with the smell of your mates and a hot dinner.
You kick off your boots and giggle as shadows help you with your coat. Cassian is standing over the stove as Azriel sets the table. Azriel stops what he’s doing to kiss you hello.
“How was your day, angel?” Azriel asks.
“It was good. I had a new patient, it always breaks my heart to see the trauma that’s been inflicted.” You instinctively reach for Azriel’s hand, stroking the back with your thumb. “I hope I can ease that pain, even just a little bit.”
“You’re doing such great things,” Cassian says, juggling the three bowls and a bottle of wine. You and Azriel quickly reach out to help him and sit down together.
“We’re so proud of you,” Azriel states, adoration across his face.
You smile back. “I do have you both to thank for all of this. I’ve worked with many kinds of wings before, but I think yours are the most fascinating.”
“What kinds of wings?” Cassian asks.
“Well, in Spring, many faeries have wings similar to insects. They are very delicate but they don’t have the same soft tissue and nerve ends. Then there are the Peregryns, they have fewer bones in their wings than Illyrians - but the feathers…” You laugh. “If you think Illyrians are protective of their wings, you should see a Peregryn if you touch their feathers.”
Azriel gives you a curious look, “Do you have much experience with Peregryns?”
“Mostly just my father, but I didn’t get to see him very often,” you answer plainly. Cassian nearly chokes on the wine he was sipping and Azriel’s eyes widen in shock.
“How have you never mentioned this?” Cassian asks you incredulously.
“I don’t know, it hasn’t come up. Obviously, I didn’t inherit any physical characteristics. I didn’t think it was important,” you shrug.
“Every part of your history is important,” Azriel says with complete sincerity.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t intentionally keep it from you.”
“I guess that explains how you took to flying so quickly,” Cassian remarks.
You shake your head at your mates as you return to your meal.
You finish up the cozy evening with Cassian and Azriel who had many questions for you about different wingspans. Namely, which race has the biggest. Even if it wasn’t the truth, you would have said Illyrians.
————
A few weeks later, Winter had well and truly arrived.
You’re in a distant Illyrian camp making some supply drops and home visits. Both Cassian and Azriel join you, using any excuse to spend more time with you.
It’s a relatively small camp, you have a handful of patients here so it’s only meant to be a quick stop. But, as the afternoon progresses, the weather takes a turn for the worse.
“We’ll have to stay here overnight,” Cassian says. “We can’t risk flying in a storm and Azriel can’t winnow with both of us.”
Fortunately, there is a rundown but warm inn just outside of the camp. Unfortunately, with the incoming snowstorm, all of the rooms are booked. All but one.
You enter the tiny room behind your mates who both need to bow their heads to fit inside. It would be a cramped lodging for two high fae but with three of you plus two pairs of wings…
Cramped is a severe understatement.
————
You get ready for bed as best as you can, manoeuvring around each other with great difficulty.
Finally you settle in, comforted by the warmth seeping into you from both sides.
The bond is still new, you’ve not been in such close proximity to your mates, with so few layers between you and not touched them.
The heat radiating off both Cassian and Azriel was driving you wild. And based on their strong scents, it was having the same effect on them.
Cassian’s groans break the silence. “Godsdamnit, Y/N. You’ll be the death of me.”
“I’m not doing anything!” You exclaim.
“That’s the point,” Cassian chuckles.
You decide to tease him further by pushing your butt back against him, rubbing against his hardening length.
Cassian groans again and wraps his arms around your waist, hands groping your breasts. Azriel leans on his forearm and locks eyes with you. You gasp as Cassian pinches your firm nipples and starts nipping at your earlobe. Cassian’s hand starts to trail lower, and you can’t hold in your moan as it slips down to your core, dragging through your growing wetness.
Desire overwhelms your senses. You don’t care about the space or lack thereof. You need your mates.
Azriel starts to palm himself, moaning softly as you send images down the twin bonds. Images of how you want them.
“Are you sure, angel?” Cassian whispers into your ear. “I don’t want to hurt you.”
You lean further into his embrace, “I’m sure. I need you both.”
You sit up and straddle Azriel, grinding your dripping slit against him. Azriel holds your hips firmly, pushing you down to provide more friction for both of you.
You look over at Cassian with slightly glazed eyes. You nod at him, confirming your desire.
He kneels on the bed behind you, there’s just enough room that he doesn’t hit his head on the low support beam. He squeezes your ass as he kisses down the side of your neck. Azriel starts circling your clit with his thumb as you continue to rock on top of him.
You lean forward slightly, hands braced on Azriel’s chest as Cassian drags his cock along your slit, collecting your arousal.
Azriel positions himself at your entrance as Cassian lines up at your rear.
“Are you quite sure, angel?” Cassian asks again.
“Yes… Please,” you whine softly.
Azriel lowers your hips, burying himself inside you as you both moan at the tightness. Your eyes flutter at how full you feel, and Cassian hasn’t penetrated you yet.
You feel pressure against your rear as Cassian pushes against you. “Are you ready?” He asks.
You nod in answer, already struggling for words.
Azriel resumes his steady circles as Cassian pushes into you. The stretching sensation is so intense you let out a strangled cry. “Are you okay?” Cassian asks.
“Yep, I just need a moment to adjust.”
Cassian resumes kissing your jaw as your body gets used to the full feeling.
“I’m ready,” you say and Cassian starts to slowly move in and out.
Azriel starts thrusting, matching Cassian’s timing.
“So full,” you moan, your eyes rolling back into your head as the pleasure overwhelms you.
With each thrust, your clit rubs against Azriel’s groin, bringing you closer and closer to that sweet release.
“Fuck, I’m not going to last long,” Azriel pants. Cassian moans in agreeance.
Your fingers gravitate to your nipples, pinching the sensitive nubs as you’re hurled to the finish line.
“Cum for us, angel,” Azriel commands, and you do.
You cry out as you hit your climax, louder than usual. Both your holes clench as your mates wring scream after scream of pleasure from you.
They both follow closely behind as you grip them tightly. As the moans and cries subside, the room is filled with the sound of panting.
Cassian pulls out of you first, collapsing beside Azriel.
Azriel helps lift you off of him and nestles you in between himself and Cassian. He kisses you lovingly as Cassian’s hand dips between your legs - using a washcloth to clean you up.
Once clean, he pulls you close to his chest and wraps his wings around you and Azriel.
Feeling content in your bubble with your mates, sleep finds you and takes you into its loving embrace.

THE "DREAMER" HYPOCRISY "
My rant on the blatant inequality the Inner Circle perpetuates between the Hewn City fae and the privileged residents of Velaris, because it’s honestly infuriating. They love to preach about freedom, dreams, and “protecting the innocent,” but the moment you dig beneath the surface, you see how they pick and choose which dreams actually matter. And spoiler alert—it’s not the dreams of the fae living in the Court of Nightmares or even the Illyrians.
The Inner Circle sits up in Velaris, this perfect little city where art and beauty flourish, acting like they’re the champions of Prythian, while they leave the Hewn City fae to rot in their oppression. The hypocrisy is real. Rhysand and Co. have all this power, but instead of helping those in the Hewn City who are trapped in their own cycle of fear and brutality, they just write them off as monsters and keep them there. How is it that the IC get to pick which dreams are worth nurturing and which are worth suppressing? The fae in CoN aren’t even given a chance to “dream,” let alone change their circumstances. But Velaris? Oh, Velaris gets to be the City of Dreams. It’s all so… selective.
Let’s not even start on the Illyrians. Rhysand loves to brag about how he’s making changes in Illyrian camps, yet most of the Illyrians are still stuck in a toxic, hyper-masculine society where women are wing-clipped and treated like dirt. Where’s the equality here? If Rhysand is such a champion of progress and change, why are so many Illyrians still suffering under a system he’s supposedly in charge of? The IC sit there in their fancy Velaris lofts, patting themselves on the back for their “reforms,” while doing the bare minimum for the people outside their little bubble.
And don’t get me started on the whole “dreamer” narrative. The idea of being a dreamer is nice in theory, but when the IC controls which dreams are valid, it’s an empty sentiment. You can’t call yourselves dreamers when you actively keep others in darkness and misery. You can’t act like Velaris is this perfect utopia while pretending the Court of Nightmares doesn’t exist or that the Illyrians aren’t suffering in the camps. The Inner Circle is playing favorites, plain and simple, and it’s frustrating how selective they are about who deserves a better life and who doesn’t.
So yeah, the concept of being a dreamer in the Court of Nightmares doesn’t work when the IC are the ones holding the keys to who gets to have a dream in the first place. They pick and choose who gets the privilege of dreaming and who’s left behind, and that’s not progress—that’s hypocrisy.

Deep Dive into Alastor's Situation
Tumblr media
So we all remember this bit in Finale, where Alastor has a breakdown about his situation and deal correct? He wants to find a loophole so he can be back in control.
I've seen a lot of theories regarding how Alastor is feeling in this moment and what his deal could involve, but thus far they've all sort of missed something crucial. Alastor's power.
Alastor is highly disturbed by the fact that he almost died, let alone dying to protect people. He is freaked out that the deal has made him do this, whether as part of the deal itself or as a means to get back some semblance of control he had before the deal was struck.
Either way, based on what he says in this moment about wanting to find a loophole in order to unclip his wings
: "The constraints of my deal surely have a back door. Once I figure out how to unclip my wings, guess who will be pulling all the strings"
We can hazard a guess and say that this deal, despite us initially believing gave him power, has probably actually taken it away. Having one's wings clipped usually entails that someone is on a leash and cannot fully extend themselves.
This means that Alastor, as well as being forced into helping the hotel, has had his power taken away.
Now I do not say this lightly, I also think that this is the case because of Alastor's fight with Adam.
We all know Alastor likes to be in control, and in order to be in control, one must not overestimate another without the possibility of the loss of that control. Now, you could say that is exactly what happened in his fight with Adam, but that wouldn't necessarily warrant the reaction toward his deal the way he does in the song. If that were the case, Alastor would likely be more angry at himself than be panicked about his deal.
Therefore, we can guess that Alastor did not overestimate Adam, but rather himself. This means that at some point, he quite possibly did have the power to take out an angel but does not anymore. The fact that he is so surprised that Adam broke his mic that we can hear his true voice means that he expected to be able to block that attack.
Tumblr media
This all comes back to the idea that Alastor has lost power through whatever deal he made. Which in turn makes us ask the question:
What did Alastor get in return?
If he lost enough power to the point he thought he could beat Adam and couldn't, what did he want so badly that he felt the need to sell his soul and power away?
I have no idea
BUT, I have thoughts.
I have seen theories saying that perhaps Alastor made this deal while he was alive, and he sold his soul to gain power while living. This, while possible, doesn't necessarily match up with what we know about his character.
Alastor is conniving. He's brilliant. He's a serial killer. He knows and understands nuance like the back of his hand. With how much time he spent in hell (he died in the 30s and according to the wiki, Katie Killjoy died in 1992 ((Helluva Boss also takes place in the 21st century but we don't know yet if Helluva Boss is canon to Amazon's Hazbin Hotel)) Alastor would have had ample time to figure out loopholes in his deal.
No, his deal definitely happened at some point during his seven-year absence, likely near the end for the same reason as the previous. Which, again, all connects back to Lillith, which means our likely culprit for this deal is Lillith OR the person responsible for Lillith's disappearance if not Lillith herself.
This all brings us back to two questions:
What deal did Alastor make?
What did he gain from it?

Shard Memory: Shattering (and lots of unhinged rambling about lore implications)
Long read ahead - some Sky: The Two Embers spoilers in the block of text toward the end.
I really wanted to get more shots but I literally clipped into Tsadi's cape and couldn't escape ;-;
Anyway, here we go:
Tumblr media
From left to right: Sa, Mekh, Lamed, Teth, Daleth, Tsadi (barely visible in the darkness on the bottom right), Ayin, and floating in the center above everyone else and directly above the shattering stone, the upside-down mask and fading silhouette of King Resh.
Tumblr media
I got this closer shot of the mask. I should have gotten a screenshot while I was actually on it because the details don't translate from far away. The best description I can give is this: it seemed like mostly just the mask, no real substance to the head or body; the mask was two stars stacked on top of one another, the bigger being a four-pointed star with the longest point being the top (but in this case, with it being upside-down, the bottom), and the smaller star having many more points and resting directly on top of the bigger star. And in the eye of both stars is a single spot (a diamond, if I remember correctly), that looks like a small darkstone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I find it really interesting that all of the elders were present for the Shattering. I can only assume they were there to stop it - but I wonder how much they were aware of. Darkness was already spreading through the realms for some time. The King had been corrupted. Was the Storm on the horizon? Was the stone already glowing red and showing its cracks? Could they tell what a monstrous catastrophe they were on the brink of experiencing? Or were they there simply to intervene and stop the King?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then these guys. I know we still don't fully know what Winged Lights even are. But with the new extended preview of Sky: The Two Embers out, there's one scene in particular that this makes me think of. (I'll save hard spoilers for the end and will give warning beforehand.)
So, my take?
I think we're seeing the moment Resh sacrificed himself to save everyone. We're also seeing that it was too late.
We also know from devs that Elder cutscenes exist in a place outside space and time, but that they still have an effect on the world. I think we're seeing why. The moment this stone shattered, all those present were killed, but were also locked in their own limbo, living out their most notable moments over and over again across probably infinite dimensions (like watching the same scene over and over in the reflections bouncing off shards of broken glass... or crystal). They're stuck. Not here in Sky, not in Orbit, not with The Light - but somewhere In Between. Purgatory.
But... why? How?
Well, the path to Orbit was still blocked - both by the shattered crystal itself, and by the now-demolished castle infrastructure that was previously seated on and above the mountain peak. Even aside from that, most, if not all of the Elders had already been corrupted; aka, depleted of their natural light and/or filled with darkness - who knows if they even had enough internal light left to participate in the natural light/life cycle, even if they had survived.
What about the King?
We also now have confirmation in the art book that, "The Ruler would sacrifice themselves to share light back into the skies, and the light souls would then return as Descendants."
With that information, I have a few theories. He was certainly corrupted, and very likely the most corrupted of all the Elders. So, my first question is, what was his act of sacrifice?
We clearly see him upside-down, seemingly disintegrating or dissolving, with nothing but his (presumably darkstone-imbued) mask remaining.
Was his sacrifice the thing that destroyed the crystal? Had it absorbed too much light, started glowing red and attracting Darkness and Storm to it, and so the crystal is what needed to be stopped?
Or was the shattering itself the cause of the Storm?
Three things we know for certain:
There was already war, darkness, corruption, and pollution before the stone shattered.
The shattering itself caused immense structural damage.
The stone was harnessing light/souls directly from the sacred migration to The Light.
So my theories are:
A) The stone itself had been corrupted and had become volatile, so the King sacrificed himself to shatter the stone and make way for light to enter back into the light/life cycle.
B) The sheer density of light/souls was too much for the stone, causing deterioration over time that eventually allowed darkness to manifest, and that structural deterioration led to the Shattering. The King sacrificed himself to try to contain it/minimize the damage.
In either case, the Elders and King would probably be able to see visual cues that warn them things are about to get bad. In situation A, it would be a change of color from blue to vibrant, violent red. In situation B, it would be the progressive chips and cracks in the stone that would probably let them know when it's close to exploding. In either case, the Elders and King are likely gathering to decide how to handle it, when the King decides that it's ultimately his mess, so he ought to be the one to deal with it. He uses the last of his power to try to destroy or contain it (in whatever way he can), and then it shatters.
And then what happened?
Well, we know that unnatural deaths leave remains, as seen in Forest, Wasteland, and Vault. There are no remains.
Natural deaths mean your light gets recycled back into the soul cycle and you cease to exist as you once did, but that's not quite right either. This certainly wasn't a natural death. We also still see the Elders - not as memory projections like the mantas in Vault and not like the Spirits of our Ancestors - but as actual, tangible Memories, just like the Shattering Memories. When we meditate at their shrines, they still visit us and give us their warnings - the same warnings - time after time.
Like I said earlier, they're stuck somewhere Between, living out those key moments over and over for the rest of eternity.
They even both take place in seemingly the same type of greyed out void space. I hesitate to call it "a void" because Void could very well be its own entity. But also, there's a real possibility this is that entity. (Something like "The Empty" from Supernatural.)
And the King?
Again, I have more than one theory.
He could be trapped in the stone. This isn't my theory, I don't know where it came from, but even this theory has two sub-theories. 1a being that his consciousness is trapped in the Eden crystal, forever shattering and killing the Descendants who attempt to free the souls trapped in the cycle; 1b being that he's the Season of Shattering crystal, that he's reliving those memories and sharing them with us in a similar limbo as the Elders. (My thought, if this is true, is that it's both. I believe the Season of Shattering stone would be the largest piece of the King's consciousness, still capable of memory, and perhaps thought, but not much else - but that that stone is still stuck in the center of the ever-shattering crystal in Eden, simultaneously experiencing the Memories and the Shattering indefinitely.)
He sacrificed himself and returned what was left of his light, and that light became the Descendants. (Also not my theory, the idea that we're fragments of the King has been around a while, I'm sure.)
HOWEVER, upon re-reading the quote, some phrasing stands out.
"The Ruler would sacrifice themselves to share light back into the skies, and the light souls would then return as Descendants."
So... who did the Ruler sacrifice? Does "themselves" refer to both parts of the Ruler (Prince Alef/King Resh)? Or does it refer to himself and the Elders, who were all conveniently present? That theory gets dark fast.
If it's the Ruler sacrificing their own "selves", it may explain the two hugging WL on top of the crystal. Two halves of a whole, re-uniting in a post-mortem act of forgiveness. But that leaves the clip from recent leaks a mystery.
Regardless, I read that hug on top of the stone as a heart-wrenching "I forgive you" moment.
Another theory that I don't know how to neatly fit into all of this text:
The quote explicitly states that the Ruler sacrifices themselves to share light back into the skies.
It does not say whose light. If it was the King's light, you'd think they would have specified that (unless they intended for it to be vague, which would also make sense.)
We know the King and Elders hoarded light. One place we know they hoarded light was the powerstones/darkstones, so it's not a stretch to consider that by sacrificing himself to shatter the massive stone, he was then sharing the light (from within the stone) back into the skies and that light became Descendants.
Another place they could have potentially hoarded light is within themselves. (What if that's the reason they're so tall compared to all other Ancestors?) Especially if they were corrupted, their bodies may act a lot like Dark Creatures in the sense that they have an insatiable hunger for light. In this case, maybe it makes sense for the King to try to sacrifice himself and all of the elders. (Then the question becomes... did they know they'd be sacrificed? Honestly, probably. I suspect they understood their role in the way events were unfolding by that point. It's another question entirely whether they all went willingly.)
And FINALLY, what about those two hugging Winged Lights??
Well, I'm sure it won't surprise you that I have more than one theory. Both include at least one of the kids being the King's "soul."
Theory 1 is that both of the kids are the king, like I alluded to earlier. Two halves of a whole, reuniting and hugging in an act of self-forgiveness. Simple. Sweet. Only a little confusing.
- Hard Spoiler Territory -
The second is based solely on The Two Embers and the scene in Orbit, where a dark child that looks like Alef hugs a golden child that looks like Hopeful Steward.
Another moment of forgiveness, but between friends who shared a common interest. They both wanted life, light, and prosperity for their world - but they had different visions. One sought prosperity through community; the other sought prosperity through power and greed. Ultimately, they both paid the price.
But why is Alef dark in the video if, in this memory, he is light?
Well, it depends.
If the first scenario is true, where it's his own two halves becoming whole again, my assumption is that his light/soul was returned from the crystal once it was shattered. If this is the case, his soul likely returned to the soul cycle and we are all little fragments of him. (Which leaves me a little salty about the fates of the Elders, I can't lie.)
That scenario may explain the split between Alef (Prince) and Resh (King). Perhaps his childish innocence and sense of self was absorbed into the stone at some point, only to be freed in the Shattering.
If it's the second scenario, a forgiveness between friends, I believe the Hopeful Steward was the one to return his light - mirroring the scene of skykids in Orbit.
And if THAT'S the case, where is the King now?
I guess we'll just have to find out. Maybe he and the Hopeful Steward merged and were reborn as the first Descendent? Or maybe his soul stayed to contain the ever-shattering crystal, while Steward's soul went on to guide Descendants in their journey.
One thing we can say for certain is that they all die. Lovely. (But we already knew that.)
And we can also see that the Steward somehow found (or made?) Aviary, that they have some authority over/relationship to the Descendants, and that other Ancestors regard Steward with a lot of respect.
I know most of this will be answered in time, but I can't help it, my mind is still reeling with all the possibilities 💭

RWBY Fanfic Recommendation List
Fics that have really struck me, vaguely organized by ship and/or topic.
Bumbleby (Blake x Yang)
first off, basically anything by pugoata. She's the goddess-empress of the Bees. I'm gonna give particular props to Banshee, as it was the first longer fic and AU that I read, and it really opened up my mind to what fanfic could be.
You're a Mountain, Full of Glory - a ski/snowboard with amazing characterization and a closing scene that will live rent-free in my head forever, in a good way.
They Can't Steal the Love You're Born to Find - childhood soulmates repeatedly torn apart and reconnecting, with courtroom drama. One of the most angst-ridden Bee fics I've ever read.
Fucking In Love - pornstar AU that gets right to the sex and slow burns the romance. Hot as hell while also full of tenderness and pining.
Midnight Menagerie - exotic dancer, kinda-cyberpunk dystopia AU. Edges you forever with the sex, earns all the angst tags, and we are majorly trusting @kaelidascope when she promises an amazing happy ending.
Bite Me Like You Love Me - one of the hottest Bee smutfics I've ever read.
You and Me - Blake discovers she's pregnant the day Yang goes MIA on a mission and struggles through being a single mother teaching their child about her amazing other mom. Short, happy ending, amazingly sweet.
You and Me, and One Hot Summer - tropical beach Bees. It's fun, and hella spicy!
WhiteRose (Ruby x Weiss)
The Foxtrot - Ruby and Weiss repair their broken lives after the war. It's one of the most popular RWBY fics of all time for a reason.
Can You See My Strings?/Deja Vu - premium mentally ill Weiss escapes from child abuse angst, with a happy ending if you read the sequel.
But Your Voice Used to Be Mine - Weiss escapes abuse to join RBY's punk band whose smash hit she inspired.
Just One Cigarette - Ruby and Weiss have a little meetup roleplay and it's really good.
Faunus Weiss (generally major themes of struggling with internal and external racism)
Craving the Sky - Weiss has painfully concealed her faunus heritage while she tries to earn her father's love. The support of her team, and the love of Blake and Yang (BeesSchnees) help her soar on her own.
Black Swan Theory - faunus Weiss struggles to recover from child abuse and navigate a deeply racist society while building a relationship with Pyrrha (Schneekos).
Clipped Wings - secret faunus Weiss, dealing with racism and abuse from Jacques, this time slow burning towards Pollination.
Villainesses
Melting Glace - Cinder and Neo find love, and no redemption, in the trauma of failing to destroy Beacon. Will make you cheer for them to win by the end.
Rise from the Ashes - Cinder has a Vader moment and saves Ruby from Salem, and Ruby's pure heart helps her heal, and their adversarial relationship turn to affection. Peak RWBY enemies-to-lovers.
Odds & Ends
The Bermuda Triangle - great modern AU BeesSchnees that gets filthy hot at the end.
Midnight Rose - Summer rescues and adopts Cinder out of Atlas. Their relationship, and Cinder coming to love the Xiao Long-Rose family, is beautifully depicted. Still very much ongoing (no ships as of yet).
Fallen Maiden - Jaune dies protecting Pyrrha at Beacon, and the Fall Maiden power remains split. Will Pyrrha's bloody crusade of vengeance consume her? Or, 'Pyrrha goes full Magneto and fucks Cinder up'.
What's In A Name? - Winter and May grow up together, struggling to cope with their feelings for each other against the background of the Atlas aristocracy.
Red Sky at Night - This excellently-composed fic has a hacked Penny as the primary antagonist of the Beacon arc and builds it to Nuts & Dolts. It captures both Penny's horror at being controlled in her own body and RWBY's fear in fighting a seemingly unstoppable enemy, almost like Terminator vibes, and ultimately takes it to a very sweet relationship.
Linked In Life and Love - I'd be remiss if I didn't mention this one. I really, really love the first act, where Team RWBY sees Blake suffering terribly through a surprise heat cycle and decides that they will all "help" her with it. It's sweet and tender and feels legit for them. I'm not a huge fan of where all the series has gone since, but I would invite anyone to judge that for themselves.
Sparks in the Dark - an Emerald/Penny/Ruby trio that's really masterfully done, exploring all three characters in very novel ways, and also doing great things with Salem and Cinder.
War Machines - a Penny/Ruby role-swap that follows Penny's adventures on team BXPS with Blake, Yang, and Weiss. It's very thoughtful and a good read as science fiction for its exploration of Penny's artificial personhood.
(As I see this getting a decent amount of traffic, I'll just point out that, if it's convinced you [correctly] of my impeccable taste in fanfic, you might want to check out my own RWBY writings)

LORE DEEPENS
New York sets a new scene for the pirates' storyline
Tumblr media

The recent world tour has seen changes not only in the stage setup but with lore being revealed through performances as well, which have been consistent until an unexpected one time addition during the New York stop combining several members' stages. Clips from this segment of their concerts have been making rounds through social platforms, with netizens reporting on how their acting came to life so realistically that they shed tears over something they did not even fully understand.
The acting scene opened with the maknae draped in silky white garments dancing to an eerily familiar orchestra instrumental, a soft smile across her lips while the members appeared one at a time behind her to join into the choreography. Silence abruptly befalls the stadium while most lights turn black to let the spotlight onto each of the men in the order they arrived, replaying the moment their wings were ripped from them until disappearing into the darkness.
When the lighting came back to its normal setting, the vocalist could be seen chained to the same metal structure as her solo stage yet this time the attire was light blue displaying blood red stains around the shoulder blades whilst feathers of that same color were scattered on the ground. Tears streamed down as the restraints fell, leaving her free to crawl towards the members' bodies laid out across the stage and the bone chilling scream released upon touching the eldest's cheek resonated loudly enough for attendees situated further away to hear. Several beats passed during which her entire demeanor changed; heaving breaths falling into a calmer rhythm while the distressed turned into an almost subtle sadness until her head turned to the camera, her body sinking into a kneeling position as wet eyes stared directly at the lens, the captain's insignia in her hands.
The emotional performance left the audience completely silent until spotlights went out for the final time, giving them time to not only admire the group's acting skills but think about the significance of this rather dark moment as well. It has been implied previously that the blue bird is either closely linked to the young woman or simply her poetic representation in the lore, which is likely why the outfit is of this color while the red stains obviously represent the loss of wings symbolizing freedom. Pieces of the treasure film have suggested that she was involved in every single one of their stories, perhaps even being the one who helped their leader bring them together, and the fact that she is the first in front of the mirror surely represents that.
The hidden detail of a broken hearing aid lodged in her ear did not slip past sharp eyes either, leading to theories about the fact that it further represented the loss of freedom through the inability to hear their music. It has been assured by the vocalist herself that the device was simply painted in such a state as she still requires it in order to keep up with the numerous cues given through the backing track.
While the significance of their many acting performances have not been revealed as of yet, the dedication behind these bleeds through when attendees become unable to tell which are their true emotions. Please continue to support these hard working artists throughout their activities and search for any clues in their upcoming performances.
