#idk if i mentioned my whiteboard meetcute here?#um basically i had laryngitis and was assigned to work with this guy in my phonology class#and he was super sweet and seemed really bashful and said he recognized me from the media studio in the library#and then proceeded to bother to have an entire conversation with me via a whiteboard cuz i could not even talk#and was just super patient and kind#anyway i got his number and we were studying together tonight#turns out this man is:#insanely funny#very smart and knowledgeable about a variety of areas#a musician#with the same taste in music as me#a film buff like me#with the same taste in movies#not only an avid reader but a FELLOW VONNEGUT FAN???#oh and so far he has consistently good opinions on serious shit as well#so basically to recap i met this dude thru a whiteboard and he is all green flags#and one of the most interesting persons i've ever met#in other words im screwed#oh god he's also attractive#my standards will be forever fucked#eli talks#oh he also randomly switched into spanish at one point which was. pretty hot yeah

The World Championship in Biathlon 2024 just finished up today! Congrats to France for being the best nation, Norway for getting the most medals, and Sweden for taking their first ever gold medal in a biathlon world championship 🥳✨

Unfortunately for all of us, it was Abigail (2024). There's something about a horror movie that's mostly blood and screaming...but with a tantalizing mention of a complex, cracked-mirror world slightly offscreen. It drives me nutty.
#not even going to put this in my movie tag or horror tag. it doesn't deserve it.#I mean it was a perfectly competent horror movie! As someone who is VERY fascinated with adaptation in film (who spent quuuuuuite some time back in college obsessing over it for assignments) and who adores the graphic novel, my biggest takeaway from Nimona is that it is an EXCELLENT adaptation. Especially considering how much that production went through! Like, all of the changes and things they expanded on made sense for the transition from book to movie. My second takeaway is that I love it <3 Please go watch it I beg of you 🙏
#nimona#nimona is one of my favourite stories of all time#and the movie team really did it justice#there are some things i prefer in the book but thats mostly personal taste#i generally prefer a bit more ambiguity (which the graphic novel has in spades) and prefer being dropped into media res#rather than getting backstory forst upfront#but thats just me and i cant complain much and totally understand why those changes were made#in the end the heart of the story stayed the same and thats all that mattered to me#nimona graphic novel dragon design you will always be famous to me#nimona netflix#contender for my favourite film of the year#but it had an unfair advantage (graphic novel my beloved)#person who did a whole dang dissertation and a bunch of scattered essays for her animation degree about adapting books to film

Just got back from seeing Deadpool & Wolverine!! I enjoyed it a lot but the humor was a biiiiit overdone lol
#It was a joke like once every minute and eventually I just got tired of it jfnsnfndn#My roommates saw it with me and they were offended I didn’t like it as much as them lmao#But they just recycled the same three jokes like over and over and over 😭#Also spoiler alert but god PLEASE stop with the multiverse shit I’m so over it#They poked fun at it ofc but the fact that they did it at all!!#I think the thing that bugged me the most was the fact that there were so many references I didn’t get#Bc I didn’t watch the 5000000 other Marvel movies and shows and side series and whatever else#I’d like to walk into a movie with just basic knowledge and be able to get what’s going on#GRANTED it’s Marvel. My brain literally does not#even Assume the most basic things.. like how do *I* know that just because it's someones birthday that they want to be wished a happy#birthday? what if they dont? everyone is different and has different preferences. I should check with them first. or wait until they public#ly announce that theyre accepting birthday wishes. i am taking oppenheimer away from the public until everyone learns how to read and understand media because my god the public’s media literacy when it comes to oppenheimer is terribly bad.

Y'all keep saying that Jon lied about his age when he didn't? Where does it say he lied? In Mr Spider he says that people are often surprised at how young he is. That isn't lying about your age. People think I'm a decade older than I am all the time. And the wrong gender. Sometimes they even think I work at target! I didn't lie about working at target! I just took my winter coat off after three hours of circling the mall and happened to be wearing red. Jon happens to have greying hair and carries himself like Dracula's less cool shut in cousin.
