Something that occurred to me this time…

… Is that Eliot deliberately brings Hardison w/ him to confront Moreau the first time. He tells Nate that he and Hardison will do it (don't worry, I also Love Hardison taking the moment to be like 'hey, are you okay?' bc those two usually express themselves through bickering so much that it clearly telegraphs just how off Eliot is being that Hardison is dropping the usual banter to be serious).

Which for one thing, says something about Eliot's confidence in Hardison in general, but also, like… Yes, Parker's probably not the choice for that introduction, it's not her style, but Nate or Sophie could also have played the part. He could have tried to go alone. But he pulls Hardison.

Obviously he's not trying to put Hardison in danger, he makes it quite clear in all other scenarios that he does not tolerate Hardison in danger (visual cues in The Gone Fishin' Job my beloveds), the others are well aware of the fact that he's Done Some Shit and are equally unaware of his connection to Moreau. And to be honest, I can't pinpoint an exact reason why I think he might have done it, chosen Hardison to be the one who finds out first. Maybe he suspected Moreau would underestimate Hardison, making him safer (relatively, if course), then someone like Nate or Sophie. Maybe he thought it would be best to have Hardison's tech skills as back up. Maybe he thought Hardison would roll w/ the punches the best. Maybe he just wanted Hardison there for morale.

I don't know, but it's a moment that didn't really occur to me the first time, but I think is actually quite meaningful in a more emotional way.

#Leverage #and of course he's right Hardison handles it w/ aplomb and only gets mad after #I do think Parker wouldn't have been the right choice for that #just that specific situation in general #Moreau's clearly significantly not very respectful of women so either her or Sophie might have to do a more dangerous grift #I mean it doesn't go well for the Italian #Nate meanwhile is Always a wild card in his own way #but I've said it before and I'll say it again that in their own way I think Nate and Eliot have one of the most familial relationships #they mesh together in a very specific way that they don't talk about but becomes clear over the course of the show #the father/son the other never really got to have #and I do think that being suddenly confronted by that revelation combined w/ that relationship #would have thrown Nate for a loop enough to possibly destabilise things #but Hardison and him have had to work in the fly before #Hardison is one of the most versatile of team in regards to characters #he adapts quickly when it's needed #I think in a way Eliot makes a bet Hardison will roll w/ the con until they're out #will be able to not ask questions and avoid having too much of Moreau's attention #plus it will be more believable to Moreau #Hardison can handle it until they're out and then he can get mad and they'll deal w/ it #also I think Hardison helps stabilise him #while I do think people ascribe too much of Eliot's development to exclusively Parker and Hardison (esp Parker)#they absolutely do play an important role #and I think Eliot feels comfortable taking a risk bc he knows Hardison will keep his head and be ready to come up w/ something #Literal Crime Family

#saw a friend today who decided on having kids now that she's getting married to her longtime boyfriend #i deeply appreciate that friend but i never got on board with how she speaks so matter-of-factly of having a baby #bc she believes she 'owes' her significantly older bf #another motivation seems to be that she just wants to be done with her job and become a sahm (crossong myself)#also shes annoyed by other kids but bought into the idea that 'it's different once they're yours'#well yeah for life and death reasons not because your child suddenly becomes a ray of sunshine 24/7 #idk idk i see how she could manage somehow but she gets easily overwhelmed and dissatisfied as it is&says she doesn't have any savings so.#hm. worried.#also wanting to become pregnant to have a reason to stop smoking as if there aren't so many pregnant women smoking right this second #between this and my friend who keeps dating mentally unstable men in order to have a kid despite a risk of maternal death #and a another befriended couple that seems to be head over heels for getting pregnant asap despite some red flags #it feels very very isolating to be a woman right now #oh i forgot to vent that friend a seems to reject it when i say that statistically it can take like a year to get pregnant #and she also doesn't want to get tested.#like i get that since im not planning on kids rn and took active steps for birth control im more aware of the risks and statistics #but it's worrying how little some people want to think about things like money mental health physical etc before having kids

sometimes i see queer people make low hanging anti straight jokes, and they'll often pre-defend themselves by saying straight people don't need defending as if the queer community isn't populated by tons of straight people, straight trans people, straight ace people, straight poly people. queerness doesnt exclude exclusively opposite sex attracted people and it bothers me to see these jokes and their subsequent defenses because normative society certainly rejects these folks because of their queerness and now you are inside the queer community rejecting them for who they desire. i think about straight trans folks the most who are out here under fire from normative society who turn to the queer community for support only to be inundated with sentiments like straight people are actually the real lesser than folks, and it's easy enough to say straightness is valorized in normative society so shitting on straight people is punching up, but i can't help but be keenly aware that the queer straight people tend to be queer in the ways which are often excluded from queer community. so actually yeah i do think straight people need our protection, not heteronormative culture, but individual people? yeah. the "coming out as straight" jokes are all haha good times fuck the straights until you think about the fact that straight trans people when they come out are functionally doing that. after all how many straight trans people used to think they were cis gay people. and we, inside the queer community, turn their experiences into a mean spirited punch line designed to reject them from queer community.

like sorry i just don't think we are gonna find queer liberation by trying to figure out which group we are allowed to make fun of for having the wrong sexuality.

not to be um... siding with the catholic church on something. but yall agree with surrogacy for the WRONG REASONS and it shows.

#its proven again and again that most surrogate mothers are young and impressionable #and that donor conceived people are under so many risks and they get no support from governments or the industry that makes billions #frankly if you think the church is just “being judgemental” you're wrong #they have valid reasons that you MIGHT DISAGREE WITH but they are reasons #surrogacy contracts ARE flawed and exploitative of women's bodies #receiving financial support from surrogacy is indeed imperfect and supposes risks #like im not saying all surrogacy is evil and the church should get legal rights over women's bodies. but once in a while they do have points #about humanity and exploitation. that some capitalism-pilled governments don't like.
