Danny Phantom - Worm fusion
Or well more of a “parahumans AU” of Danny Phantom; pretty much the only thing from Worm is the parahuman power stuff rather than the specific characters/locations being explicitly included. Basically “what if Danny Phantom involved Capes instead of ghosts”
Btw the links throughout this are generally to the wiki pages for things in case anyone is unfamiliar with anything. Or the general wiki links are here (DP) and here (Worm)
Jack and/or Maddie Fenton previously triggered and gained Tinker powers due to their ongoing obsession with trying to prove their scientific theories (which could be about ghosts or be something more Worm-y (e.g. potentially involving alternate earths or trying to find the origin of parahuman powers)).
Those new powers certainly didn’t improve the chaotic nature of their lab, but it did allow them to make far more complex devices.
The biggest of which is in the form of a portal. It’s taken a lot of work to create, but they’re hopeful that it will finally prove them right now that they’ve completed it. Finally make all the hardship they went through (enough to hardship to trigger) worth it.
…Except it fails. They plug it in, and nothing happens.
Well, nothing yet…
Later, their son Danny takes a few steps into the portal frame on a dare, and his hand knocks against a panel on the wall. A huge burst of electricity surges through the structure as a rift tears through the air.
Right on top of his fragile human body.
Energy courses through him as his vision is filled with the impossible sight of countless dimensions, of the near-endless expanse of space, and of gargantuan creatures spiraling through it all.
And then he collapses, the memories of what he saw slipping away from his brain as his new powers settle into his body.
(His parents, if they are nearby, see the visions too. The sight feels familiar, even if they can’t remember why. But any further consideration is shelved when they realize the portal is on.)
More misc thoughts about this idea beyond the cut:
I figure this’d be a setup that leads to getting a Trump power, since the trigger directly relates to another parahuman’s powers. Plus, a Trump power that allows for a bunch of different facets would align with his array of ghost powers from the show.
Specifically, it’d probably fit the “Infinity/Ten” subtype of Trump; those are caused by triggers that involve “a power breaking reality in the vicinity.” I think an unstable portal being opened on top of you should definitely count for that.
…But then idk how one would design a power of that type well. The description of “Power sets nearly limitless in both option and choice” feels hard to design for in a way that isn’t too OP, even with the “but where other large drawbacks often apply” caveat. Mainly from like, the word “limitless” interfering with my ability to tell what restrictions are reasonable.
…although. The subtypes are’t meant to be strict in-universe guidelines; I could just rebalance it based on ideas from other Trump power types that I find easier to conceptualize and it’d be fine even if it’s not “objectively correct” for the Infinity type.
Heck even if I felt that need to strongly justify it, the situation fits pretty close to triggers for the “Four” subtype (power sets that are limited to a few usually weaker/clunkier power options). His parents were obsessive tinkers; powers would have been a factor influencing his life for a while.
Also, outside of Trump power stuff, a Breaker state would make sense to fit closer in line to his ghostly nature from the show. Not 100% sure if that’d fit his trigger, but whatever. Maybe could just argue that the portal mucked with his senses/thoughts enough to justify an intertwined mental aspect of the event, idk.
…oh I just had an idea for what the actual power could be!
What if he has to be in his breaker state to use powers, and he can only select which powers to use at the moment of transformation? Meaning he has to choose his powers before he enters any fights and likely stick with just them for the duration of that fight.
Limits could be imposed based on what he chooses (e.g. if his powers are weaker the more he has active) and how he switches back and forth (he’d have to deactivate all of his powers to swap any out and maybe he has to recharge them before he can access them again, leaving him vulnerable in the meantime).
Might want to limit his power options too (unless just limiting the strength of the powers would be enough), but idk what a good rule for that would be. Like it could just be an arbitrary list of options I guess, but something more distinctive might be interesting. Maybe he has to experience something similar to a power before he can use it? Idk.
…would ideally want to make it mirror his trauma somehow too, because powers like doing that. Making the transformation reminiscent of the portal could be a good start, but idk if there’d be anything else.
Also, outside of his powers, I’m not fully sure how one could best work in an equivalent to the ghost fights from the show. Like they could absolutely just be other capes in Amity Park, but I feel like it’d be cool to connect them to Danny or the portal somehow.
For some possible ideas for that, I guess:
They could have been in a cluster trigger with Danny (as long as the other triggers could be reasonably justified to have coincided with the portal activation)
The portal could have let some Eden material leak through, causing some people in the area to randomly gain powers (and probably mutations too) after consuming anything contaminated
If the portal is a unique phenomenon (e.g. if the straight-up Ghost Zone is included on top of the Worm stuff), the Shards could be incentivized to create more triggers in the area or prod existing hosts towards Amity Park to create more conflict and help them study it
If the portal leads to another world (or periodically connects to multiple other worlds), they could just be “regular” capes but pulled through from there
It wouldn’t be related to that portal incident, but if Vlad Masters was a power-granting Trump (akin to Worm/Ward’s Teacher), the ghost-analogues could be his empowered minions sent after the Fentons
…or they could just still be ghosts I guess, but I’m trying to lean this more on the Worm side of worldbuilding things than DP.
And some even more one-off random thoughts:
The GIW would just be a government-backed group akin to the PRT. Heck they could just be replaced by the literal PRT and Protectorate if it’s meant to be a full-on fusion with Earth Bet
If the portal is causing Eden material to leak through, Amity Park might end up evacuated/made into a quarantine site.
Instead of being given tech by Vlad like in the show, Valerie Gray’s situation could be reworked into a trigger event, with her probably being a vigilante afterwards (like as opposed to joining an actual hero team). Or if you wanted to keep the “given powers” thing in a slightly more directly parahuman-y way, she could get a Cauldron vial (maybe one supplied by Vlad to keep more similarity with the show). (though that would require including Cauldron in the fic too, at least in the background)
Skulker could be a Deviant/Case 53 who is similar to Trainwreck
I guess the implication of Fenton Works existing would be that Jack and Maddie are rogues who are open about their identities
Which could connect to why Danny is hiding his powers from them - unlike the original show, he has no reason to fear them taking the reveal badly, but he could want to keep his cape and civilian identities fully separate and thus not want to tell them lest they reveal it to the public

On Mage!Viktor / the Hexcore's Involvement on the Transformation of Jayce
Incoming loooong post to encompass my massive brainrot about jayce. you've been warned <3
This post, written by @xenorat, made me consider how the Hexcore was the main player behind the whole timelines thing. Of course it explains why the world is an exact replica of what our Jayce's future would become and why Mage!Viktor himself doesn't look like the Machine Herald we know.
The OP also explained how the stone Viktor gave (was it due to the Hexcore or Viktor himself?) could've led Jayce to feel this frenzied, feral rage that goes against his own nature. His natural reaction to violence is usually horror, becoming sick, and profound guilt when he's the cause of it.
However!! Because I'm insane, I've been thinking for months about a theory/headcanon on why Jayce is sometimes violent and sometimes he seems to return to himself, which can work directly with the one that xenorat introduced.
And that theory is:
Mage!Viktor fused alternate versions of Jayce because he knew Jayce couldn't possibly fulfill his promise on his own.
Tumblr media
TL;DR: Jayce's transition from feral and violent to calm and compassionate is not clear, but Act II and the scene with him and Mel in Act III show how Jayce may not be in complete control of his actions. Instead, as his physical frame glitches and the visions plague him, or in less visually obvious moments, his demeanor changes and flickers, as if our Jayce is switching with another versions of him. I also shamelessly self-plug about my newly posted oneshot that's gonna be part of my sad bookstreet/jayce-centric series.
Needless to say, I never understood Jayce's act iii arc, especially because he went from this:
Tumblr media
to this:
Tumblr media
in the span of like, a few weeks at most??
Although the writing and pacing of Act 3 leaves much to be desired for Jayce, Act 2 gives us really exciting clues about what could've been the explanation to Jayce's predicament. Its vagueness is fascinating, because the fandom has such different interpretations to it. Is it PTSD? Is it the self-annihilating nature of the Anomaly? Is it the infection of the world that burrowed into his leg, or the one from the stone that's spreading in his arm? Is it a side effect of witnessing the Cosmic Horrors? Or is it because he's fighting himself? Or rather, alternate versions of himself? Seven, to be exact?
As we can see in the gif above, as well as in most of his conversation with Salo, there seem to be various other versions of Jayce that have just been merged.
It is important to note that, in the novel experience of living in one body, or because of the presence of the Anomaly, Jayce experiences these magnetic-like pulls, in which a part of him seems to either separate or pass through.
Tumblr media
I'm sure you've noticed the rest of these instances, especially this one:
Tumblr media
But this could also be why he looked like this after killing Salo:
Tumblr media
And like this after almost killing the child in the Commune:
Tumblr media
(credit to @cruelcomfort-deactivated2024120 on this post, sadly i couldnt find the gif so i uploaded it here)
In every instance, it looks like he wavers in differing levels from whatever violence he has, is, or could've committed. With Salo, the horror almost breaks through the rage, but it fails. With the kid, it's like he slowly snaps out of the haze of fury (visually, the strobing effect and vignette fade away, which tells us that his vision is literally clearing); and all that he is left with is just that same horror. But with Viktor, there is simply chaos. Screaming and weeping and a glimpse of one breaking the vow once again (because he looked at Viktor right before he could kill him. oh i am ill).
Who controlled the body to fulfill the vow, I don't know. I'm willing to believe the act of killing his partner was so traumatizing, it was like we were witnessing an Arcane-ified, violent version of a mind dissociating to the point of an identity split. Y'know, like DID, but not exactly.
I frankly think the writers are kinda cowards for not showing us more of this or giving us more hints as to what is actually afflicting him, unless the mystery IS the point. BUT!! There is one more scene in Act III, where Fortiche left us clues about the alternate Jayces (or at least one of them) one last time.
This scene:
Though Jayce is already triggered and distrustful of Mel from the beginning of this scene, it is here where his entire demeanor slowly changes into that agony and pure rage we've seen before. The vision causes him to jerk in pain and start to shake. His grip on the Mercury Hammer grows tighter. But the most interesting detail is the most surreptitious one: his head warps with one or both eyes, perhaps the gaze of another version of himself.
Interestingly, he does not go to harm Mel as I feared on my first watch. Instead, he pushed her away to shoot, almost as if on instinct. As I looked into this 19 sec clip with Mel, I realized that he was angry but stable right before the first vision. Then a sort of struggle began, as if he is genuinely trying to hold himself back, or to push through the visible pain the arcane is putting him through. But every time he is overwhelmed by this pain, or he is falling deeper into that unnatural, feral rage, we see those eyes.
For context:
Tumblr media
(Look above the corner of the left brow and you'll find a subtle eye under his bangs. This happens when he sees his first vision in the scene.)
The eyes become more and more obvious as time goes on. Or interestingly, the longer he closes his eyes, the more we can see these other eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(They look bitter and dark, but also exhausted. How long have they been at this? And why only one pair of eyes? Have the others found rest when they fulfilled their promise of killing Viktor? Honestly, we'll never know.)
But then, when the chromatic aberration (that red, green, purple, and blue distortion of reality to show the Arcane's influence on him) intensifies, we see how our Jayce's eyes and this other gaze seem to merge, exactly when Jayce is on the cusp of violence.
Tumblr media
This last one is right when he pushes Mel to shoot at Viktor. It is like they almost become one to attack Viktor again.
Tumblr media
We don't see any internal war in Jayce in like the rest of the episode, as well as the finale. Which sucks. It was so cool and it got resolved off-screen ig? Where is that much-needed transition between Jayce "my partner died in this room" Talis and this other Jayce "all i want is my partner back" Talis? Who is ours? Or, even more interesting: did they fuse completely? It would explain their stability surely. And this internal healing could also explain his sudden ability to extend compassion and love towards Viktor in a way he couldn't for Mel.
(And don't tell me it's because he didn't love Mel. My man NEEDED to have a scene that portrayed just how badly that apocalyptic isolation messed him up. If anything, his behavior with Mel is TEN TIMES more realistic than his behavior with Viktor in the astral realm. Maybe the astral realm is the key to his change? But still, Jayce is a man who loves at heart. He was pushed to unimaginable suffering and violence that would make even Silco balk, but you can tell he still cares about Mel and Viktor despite this.)
Anyway!!
If you're a bit crazy and obsessed with trauma like me, then perhaps you might be interested in reading the fic series I've got in the works! I decided to post the prologue to contribute to the small but growing Jayce-centric fics, and more importantly to explore this theory through writing.

"Would you still love me if I was a worm?"
If you were a worm, I would make a worm house in Fusion360 and 3D print it out for you. It would have a white picket fence, a sunroom, several empty pots for your plants (or fake 3D printed flowers if you're the type of worm where if you touch a plant, it just dies) and a big garage.

The Sun, The Wheel, Burning across the Skies
So I had this little plot bunny pop into my head, it’s a worm and sunless skies/seas fusion thing. There will be spoilers for skies and worm beyond this point.
So basically this idea stems from two things in skies, there’s a number of nightmares that seem to indicate that your captain is a judgement bound to flesh in an effort to better understand the mortals, in one of them you resurrect a crewman and it looks a whole lot like what the dawn machine does. In the other you eat some souls(ie judgment shit). The other inspiration is the judgement egg item that you can acquire in seas, which is literally the soul of a baby judgment before it could develop into one.
So imagine if you will Taylor Hebert, a cheerful young chatterbox with a rigid sense of right and wrong and the burning soul of a newborn sun. I could see this going two ways, one is more of a crossover using an alternate golden morning as a jumping off point, essentially she doesn’t know about her truth nature until bonesaw breaks down the barriers between her and QA, and instead of being crushed under the weight… she’s fine, in fact she’s better than fine, she’s burning with energy. She’s losing herself even faster than she could have, and her light is a terrible and beautiful force to behold. She becomes Khepri in truth. The dawn reborn. A being capable of fighting Scion on even footing. Suffice to say she kills him, and devours his corpse, defiles it even. The Logi dance and fly across worlds of crystal flesh and bind them to her terrible will, breaking the firmament and casting it into reality. Our story would follow other parahumans as they cope with dealing with invaders from the skies, not whispers from behind glass, the mad titans and gods that the shards have become(actively interfering without hosts), and the collateral of two judgments who are warring(the sun and Taylor). This would almost certainly be from Lisa’s POV, she’s exactly the type of protagonist skies would chew up and spit out.
The other would be a more lighthearted tale of Taylor growing up as something not quite human but desperately trying to be a good person. She’s probably end up actually talking to the sun(her 3rd parent) and working on figuring out exactly what’s going on. This would probably look more like a Fallen London play through, but from someone higher on the chain. This would probably also deal with her confronting her mothers Parabolan counterpart and judgement politics(for example what the hell is the White up to? And which conjunction would she be in, that’s a choice for like 500 years in the future at least). I feel like I would want to take this out of Brockton bay tbh. And in this timeline seas actually did happen, so London got yoinked. Taylor was born as a result of the sun preparing for the possibility of rejection and its death. She’s basically a replacement.

I finally wrote a snippet using this concept.
idea for an alt power taylor: switching her Master 8 and Thinker 1 to Thinker 8 Master 1. Its STILL Queen Administrator, only her power manifests by letting her see, hear, smell, and feel through a radius of people around her, giving her essentially an extreme level of awareness and multitasking, she always knows where she is, who’s following her, who to follow, etc.
Master 1 manifests not by assuming direct control, but by inserting a single thought or phrase into the brain of people within her radius, one that mixes with their own thoughts and comes across as their own. It’s not one they need to follow but it IS something she put in there. Like an intrusive thought.
Hence why in this AU she was actually HELPED out of the locker
anyway those are my cents

An idea I just had that I've already decided is the funniest fucking premise for Stranger Things fanfiction? Have national events from other fandoms unexpectedly happen in later seasons and derail post-S1 plot, or zoom out of S1-2 Hawkins to show the town's just in the background of other weirdness.
Like...Hawkins kids through adults have all seen footage of when a mutant picked up a sports stadium and dropped it around the White House and nearly killed Nixon, and then the Party meets 011 and sees that she has powers.
Or a year or two into Hawkins bullshit, when news goes worldwide of a glowing golden man who appeared in the sky above a cruise ship, and shortly after trauma-derived powers become a thing that derails the next Upside Down misadventure.
Hell, what happens if Hawkins gets visited by that pesky Department of Scientific Intelligence, and the Party learns the National Lab isn't the only government agency populated by inhumanities wearing human faces?

I love browsing through the tags I follow and seeing other people's own algebralien fusion designs. Makes me want to draw them all on one canvas together.
Reblog this with your own number fusion and I'll be glad to draw them on a big canvas (that is once I've finish up on two other side artworks I've started).

There are two types of Mech, the Analog, and the Linked.
Analog mechs are the far, far cheaper of the two. Much less specialized, and infinitely more common, able to be found not just in military use, but in Agricultural and Industrial use as well.
To pilot one, all you need it four limbs (Including prosthetics) and good senses, and to score well in the Simulators to get your license.
Analog is a bit of a misnomer, a holdover word from yesteryear, simply meaning "Less sophisticated."
Analog Mechs work by scanning the Brain Activity of the pilot, comparing it to the physical input of the controls, and deciding what to do from there. They're considered old fashioned and less reliable than Linked Mechs, but they're reliable enough for the work they do. They are more easily replaced and retrofitted for different tasks.
They have simpler AI, and to exit one, you simply take the helmet off and open the hatch.
Linked Mechs are a whole other can of worms.
Each and every Linked Mech is custom built and fitted to their pilot, from the heaviest weapon, to the smallest nut, no one is the same as the other.
Linked Mech are Physically plugged into their pilot's nervous system, and they act as one. It can take hours of Decompression and Disconnection to remove a Linked Pilot.
Linked Mechs are truly nothing without their pilots.
Linked Pilots are the most terrifying people you may ever meet.
Their skin is mottled from the Oxygenator-Coolant that runs in their veins, the plugs and ports too deeply entwined in their flesh and body to be removed without serious disruption to their faculties, hairless and sterile from their conditioning and actions when inside their vessel, and that's only the physical differences.
Depending on how long they've been a Linked Pilot, their mental capabilities are affected in different ways.
'Young' pilots are simply too wary - able to pick up on the most minute details, in all five senses.
Their Mechs are still machine.
'Moderate' pilots have some neurological and mental degradation in addition to what they had before. often confused or forgetful outside of their mech, but still very aware of their surroundings, if not their place in time.
Their Mechs act protective of them, like a dog to it's beloved owner.
'Old' Pilots have all the earlier issues, compounded and worsened, and sometimes confusing themself for their mech, even going so far as to entering refill and Refueling areas of the hangars.
Their Mechs act the same, often trying to reach their pilot's quarters and the Cafeteria.
They may refuse to separate at time, feeling more comfortable together than apart.
and then there are the 'Fused' the oldest and rarest caste of Linked Pilot and Mech.
The Pilot and The Mech fused absolutely, inseparable for Neurological, Psychological, and physical reasons.
They are the same. They are one. A perfect fusion of the Biological and Mechanical, Electrochemical Intelligence and the Fissile-Logic Personality, Mirroring each other with every breath and ventilation protocol.
And they are still people.
The Fused still need social interaction and entertainment. They still need variety and novelty, comfort. All the things anyone else would.
Fused are the least common, but are the least likely to die. Too perfectly combined, Too well accompanied.
The Three times a 'Fused' has been separated, The pilot Died, the Mech 'Bricked' itself, like a Jail-broke phone, no matter how it was done.
Fused are the most loyal, true, and caring of all pilots.
Few ever meet the 'Pilot,' the meat within the metal, but the few that do are those most trusted by the Fused person, as the Fused is showing you their beating heart.
If you earn one's trust, and are given this deep, grand honor, I only have one piece of advice.
Do. Not. Break. That. Trust.
