Happy birthday to the one and only @writcraft! I know you probably feel this year hasn’t been as productive as you’d like fandom-wise, so this is both a reminder and a token of appreciation, a short rec list that hopes to highlight a little bit of your immense contribution to fandom. This is ofc 100% self-indulgent and my picks might be a bit too obvious - I doubt that anyone who’s been around for a while hasn’t heard of these classics before, but those who are new to the fandom (or just new to Writ’s works - I’m so jealous!) might enjoy this “starter pack” with my personal selection of must-reads.

There’s a little bit of everything: Drarry, Snarry, femslash, dark fic, kinky fic, angst with a happy ending, romcom, hurt/comfort. No matter the tone or trope, they’re not only perfectly thought out and executed but they also deliver profound human experiences that resonates within, and thought-provoking explorations of romance, queerness and hope. I have often wondered how Writ could be so prolific over the years, always impressing me with such flawless depth of characterization across different ships. Now I realize this comes from the amount of passion and research they pour into their work. Writ commits to fandom - and to writing - both intellectually and emotionally, bringing together their creative, fannish, militant and intellectual sides like nobody else can do. This combination breathes life and heart into every love story they create, making them all bright and unique, inspiring universal emotions while remaining deeply personal.

Writ, I cannot thank you enough for being such a kind, witty and welcoming friend, always up to discuss fandom meta, gritty fic plots, old and new ship obsessions, dog parenting, queer & pop culture references! I learn so much from you and it’s a privilege (and a delight) to have someone to share both silly and deep, insightful convos with. If you're into smut (and of age to read it of course), I would heavily recommend the whole work of Fat-Butch-Dyke (@fat-butch-dyke) and Sitabethel (@sitabethel). Fair warning with Sita: they do the best character developments. You think you will go for a fun pwp but be prepared to be a crying mess at some point.

I have a confession to make, I haven't seen a single scream movie in my life in fact the only horror movie franchises I have seen are Saw and Chucky... I vibe with both for different reasons.

This spooky season I am slowly rectifying this, but I feel so bad because I feel like such a poser. I talk about loving horror, but I don't know the classics hell even my horror games are abysmal. I only got into horror things as an adult after leaving the cult I grew up in, but there is so much out there it's borderline overwhelming. I love making lists, so I'm gonna update my Radioapple fic recs. All of these feature great aspec representation (non-sex repulsed Alastor for the nsfw ones), great writing, great characterization and amazing storytelling. I've fallen down a rabbit hole called Hellaverse and Radioapple and I can't get out, so I'm hoping to bring all of you with me.

I'd love to read more good fanfics, so feel free to recommend your favs in the comments, please!

Lucid dreams of New Orleans by @radiaurapple . Heartbreaking, fluffy, beautiful, and amazing setting, writting and characterization. It might be becoming my favourite. Human AU (kinda), and deserving of so much love.

Of Saints and Sinners by @morningstarwrites . No list in the Radioapple fandom is complete without this. I don't think I need to write why it's great, everyone knows. The fun, the fluff, the lightheartedness, and fantastic writing skills.

Strange Apetites by GotllPhi. Human Alastor AU, gorey, sexy (nsfw), surprisingly fluffy and intense. The characterizations are on point and the storytelling is *cheff's kiss*. It's on hiatus while the author is getting married, but still a must read.

Lucifer and his Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Relationship series by @keelywolfe . Another nsfw one (much more so), but amazingly done and with great aspec representation. Beautifully written, intense and the story is just hooking. Also, the RadioApple Standalones are a very fun read, the sfw and the nsfw alike.

I shine only with the light you gave me by @soot-and-salt . This one is just a one-shot, but it shot through my heart. Gorgeous short story, great rythm and development, I fell in love. They have a series called We should've been enemies which is also fantastic (and nsfw), very sexy and intriguing, and still developing!

Lolm by @radioapple-heathen . It's only one chapter so far (and marked Explicit for the future of the fic), but it got to me. Fun shenanigans, a pet snake and a shared hatred for technology. It's very well characterized and nicely written.

Eat your Heart out by @seducipher . Modern human AU, nsfw and very addictive. It's still going, but it was a fic a binged in one night. Good characterization and nicely written.

Bedtime Rituals to try out before the next Angelic War by @miribalis . A very cute, fluffy and domestic fanfic that I can't recommend enough. Very well written with amazing characterization, and it's completed!

@notherpuppet 's Human AU series. Another fandom classic, but, again, no list is complete without it. In love with their artstyle, their story and their characterizations. Fluff, fun and shenanigans galore!

I still have too many saved for later that I'm thisting to read, so this list might expand in the future.

Sitp Essentials - Fandomversary Edition: Writcraft

June marks the 12th (!!!) fandomversary of this incredibly talented and generous author, whose work has brought me so much joy and healing over the years. What an accomplishment, my friend! I know I’m not only speaking for myself when I say that we are so very grateful for your presence and immense contributions to the HP fandom. I’m a bit wary of taking on long-term projects these days but I really wanted to do something to celebrate this milestone so I’ve decided that, during the month of June (and there was no better month to celebrate in! 🏳️‍🌈) I’ll be posting single recs for 12 of my favourite fics by @writcraft. Some are older recs, written in the blog’s early days, some are brand new, highlighting rare pairs, hidden gems and recent works. I won’t have a rigid schedule because I don’t wanna set myself up for failure so the rec posts will be a surprise even for me 🤣 I hope you guys enjoy them just as much!

Anyone who knows me well is aware that I’m very shy around my fandom heroes and will rarely initiate any kind of conversation with them. I was so anxious about being perceived that I wouldn't even tag them when I created the blog. Writ holds even more power in my imaginary fandom altar because they’ve written one of my all-time favorite fics. I found Little Compton Street aka the “Life on Mars Love Story Told in 3 Acts” at a difficult time of my life when I was almost leaving fandom for good. But getting to read LCS and to fall in love with those magical London spots and captivating characters was a beautiful transformative experience that altered me completely. This fic not only had a profound impact on my ever changing self-awareness as a queer person, it checked my many fic reading boxes, and pulled at my heartstrings in all the right ways. I've learned so much from LCS; it is an ode to queer history, a love letter to all of those who came and fought before us, and to all of those who were killed, erased and forgotten in the process. It is is a story filled with hope and a compassionate reminder urging us to always resist, and never forget.

Rarry is the patron saint of the friends to lovers trope and this story feels so quintessentially them, with the quiet intimacy, the playful teasing, the shared trust and understanding that implicitly goes underneath their scorching chemistry. I can sense in every careful word or heated gaze how much they care for each other, how much they trust each other, how much they long for each other. And I am obsessed with the mutual acknowledgment of how stupid and reckless they’re probably being (are they though?) and jumping right into it, anyway 🤣 superb bit of characterization istg!

It’s amazing how @writcraft has the ability to easily convey such easy, sexy intimacy within just a few words. This whole fic feels like a hot summer night dream, a suspended scene from a much longer story; I feel like I’ve known them forever and after all the dancing around each other, I’m finally intruding into the final get together moment like the slutty voyeur I am 🌝

Writ you horror, this was the best gift I could possibly imagine receiving. Ever since I read your Prongsfoot for the first time I knew you’d write the ultimate Rarry dynamics if you so wished, and I was so right because I am totally undone by this. you go to the cafeteria, seeing as the bus dropped you off early before school truly started for the day. but 4 minutes later Benny, Ethan, and Rory walked in. already arguing about something and this time Rory and Benny looked to be on the same side and opposing side from Ethan.

Rory then giggles and points to you and you know your silence from before is over. Benny laughs too and slaps Ethan's back. as he walks over here, rolling his eyes, you can hear long and exaggerated kissy noises.

oh my god he's going to faint. you can't call him that nickname and also wear the shirt he got you. he can smell his cologne coming from you. holy shit, he's going to faint right here.

the room got hot. he felt sweaty, on edge, and his pants suddenly were super tight. all he could imagine now was you and him at his house and if you wore that shirt. how much faster he would've-

"ethannnnn?" you ask out again, "you with me or do i have to get a nurse?"

Benny and Rory come over to sit with you both. they look at Ethan, each other, back at Ethan, at you, at Ethan, then each other again. the second look at each other though was smug and knowing, the first was confused and somewhat concerned.

"hey, E? what's in your pants that's so hard right now? i mean we know the pants aren't too small." Benny says knowingly with a shit eating grin. Ethan elbows him in the ribs, making Benny groan.

"mm that's whats wrong.. didn't i have to fix that last time?" you whisper to him, making sure the other boys couldn't hear.

But you're absolutely right, it's hard to actually find fics that focus on them because they're often tagged only if is just a mention!

But I remember this spicy, NSFW one which I read when I was super new to the fandom: Somewhere Private

I'm, veeeeery slowly going through Husborth fics, and the writting it's just amazing, so I rec just checking all their fics! But specifically for anidala that I have read: Load Bearing and Color Cordination

And currently, I'm reading this long fic, it's more of Skywalker Family Drama than actual anidala, but it's such a fun AU and really well written! Also it's vaderdala and has empress Padmé: The Protégé
