Absolutely batshit insane arc. I need every single person I try to get into Night Vale to know that that arc specifically is one I cackle about when thinking about people reaching it.

me, first hearing a desert bluffs episode: GOD i hate kevin and his strexcorp and

me now, almost up-to-date with wtnv, fully immersed in the lore & fandom, and an avid psychoanalyst: kevin is just a guy he doesn’t even know that what he’s doing could be wrong to someone else. cecil, as the Voice of night vale itself, bears a perception of reality entirely different from kevin’s. cecil doesn’t like kevin because he is so very different — opposite, in fact — but kevin’s morality does not center around cecil’s idea of it. desert bluffs and night vale are vastly different places and, in a way, entirely separate realities; thus their respective Voices will have subjective perceptions of reality. kevin is perceived as wrong and immoral and abominable to cecil (and thus night vale), but he is entirely standard in desert bluffs

Wishy-washiness of reason is part of why I aborted from a show a few years back. It was meant as a sequel to a 90s cartoon, but instead of using the characters of that show (who only showed up in one episode), they turned it into a VR Troopers type thing. And the villain just did a random "this is how I'm going to be evil this time!" thing per episode, including things that shouldn't be possible with the tools he was using, such as hacking into weather satellites to create a storm.

I think I read on TV Tropes later that he was infected by a computer virus that was driving him insane, but they don't give any hints about that in the bit I watched.

dont get me wrong 20 minutes of steve carlsberg hyping me up was exactly what i needed, but why? does this relate to dr lubelle's explaining of night vale? since steve can see the arrows in the sky and realises night vale's inherent weirdness, will she somehow use him? against his family?
