please tell me wtf ur username is on this blog. /lh 😭😭😭😭
Oh goodness! Yeah my username is pretty weird isn’t it XD
wellllll it’s a bit of a long story…
prepare for much nerding out about Greek history and also my very boring and irrelevant backstory under the cut :)
Oookay! so I’m homeschooled, but I had a co-op with other homeschoolers once a week in elementary and middle school. And my history and Latin teacher in said co-op was a HUGE FAN of Ancient History!
This being so, I took multiple years of Ancient Greek and Roman (and miscellaneous other ancient cultures) history and literature. And in my Latin class, history henceforth played a big role as well! One of my teacher’s favorite phrases, which she would repeat constantly with gusto, was “In umbra igitur pugnabimus.”
this translates to “Then we will fight in the shade.” The story behind this is one of my favorites in history. This was allegedly said by King Leonidas of Sparta at the Battle of Thermopylae. I’m not going to go into everything about the battle here but it is incredibly cool and always makes me tear up.
when Leonidas and his 300 Spartans we’re about to go up against around 150000 Persians in a fight that was ultimately to the death, the Persians offered him a chance to surrender. They warned him that the arrows of the Persian archers would block out the sun.
Leonidas responded by saying “Then we will fight in the shade.”
So, when I made this blog, I decided I wanted to do something Latin. Then I remembered this quote! And with a memorable story and the pronunciation of the phrase ingrained into my brain, what wasn’t to like? And, being the rather unusual person that I am, I decided to add “maybe” to the end of it, and take off the “igitur,” the Latin for “then.”
and now I have a really weird username! Woohoo!

Okay I’ve read a lot of reviews so I have an idea of the critics’ general opinions for s3. They were mostly positive, so here’s my summary:
- The first two or three episodes are slow but it picks up fast after that.
- Viktor and Allison’s relationship is central in the story.
- Viktor’s transition was handled well. It was gentle, with care and nuance.
- Allison carries the season emotionally. She’s been through a lot the past two seasons, and she’s finally getting to process all that trauma. She’s given a lot to do and has one of the best arcs this season.
- The only sparrows that matter are Ben and Sloane. Every other sparrow is one-dimensional.
- Klaus develops an interesting relationship with Reginald. His arc also takes a few detours which some critics found a little frustrating, but it is good because Robert Sheehan gives a fantastic performance and Klaus goes on a very interesting journey.
- Reginald plays a very important role this season and we see more sides to him. One review even said that we may feel sorry for him..?
- CGI and VFX could be a bit dodgy at times. There are some scenes where you can clearly tell it’s a green screen.
- There was a very telling lack of Five in the reviews. I only read one thing about him, and it was he’s becoming ‘one-note.’
- Luther is a lot more affable this season, and he even got a ‘redemption’ arc.
- Diego has a moving arc, too. One reviewer stated that Diego particularly has become a stand-out and David Castañeda gives Diego a lot of charm and charisma.
- There are a lot of twists, shocks, deaths and betrayal.

I think Luz, Hunter, Boscha and Raine all have fursona’s.
Because why not? 😭
Luz’s would be either an owl, an otter, a bat, a snake or a cat. (Luz would probably find a way to mix these all together which is absolutely horrifying-)
Hunter’s would be a wolf. I don’t think I need to explain this.
Boscha’s is a lion. Because I saw a headcanon about Boscha’s fav animals being lions and I’ve been thinking about it ever since-
Raine’s is a bat or a cat.
