Tumblr media
Jensen x reader
Word Count- 1737
Warnings- We’re still on the angst train, language, a tiny bit of fluff if you squint
Y/N sighed as she walked through the front door of Jensen’s house. He had broken her heart and left her in tears on the kitchen floor the last time she was there. Now, she had to stay there for the rest of her pregnancy. It was a better option than staying in the hospital for months, but she honestly wondered just how much better it would be. Could she stay in her ex-boyfriend’s home and not be tortured by the heartbreak she endured? Or could they manage to get along enough for her to have the baby and then move back out? Only time would tell.
She made her way over to the couch to sit down while Jensen, Jared, and Gen brought in what she had asked for from her apartment. Her eyes never left Jensen as he moved around the room, putting down the boxes of her things in the living room to be moved to their designated spot later. It wasn’t a question of if she was still in love with him. Of course, she was. But, he had truly destroyed her when he walked out on her that day, and she didn’t know if that could ever be forgiven. She wouldn’t keep him from being in their child’s life if that’s what he wanted, but she didn’t know if he could ever be a part of hers again. Not in the romantic sense.
“You okay, baby?” Jensen asked her when he noticed her staring off into space.
“I’m fine, Jensen, and I’m not your baby anymore. So, please stop with the pet names,” she murmured, her heart hurting with the use of his term of endearment.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, hanging his head and walking back out the door to his truck.
“Y/N, take it easy on him, okay? He still loves you and feels like shit about what he did,” Jared stated, making her a little angry.
“Really? And this isn’t hard on me? He doesn’t have to come back to the house that I left him in with his heart shattered on the floor. He did that to me! I get that he feels bad, but this isn’t a picnic for me, either,” she shouted, her temper getting the best of her.
“Hey, she doesn’t need this right now,” Gen chimed in, coming to sit by Y/N, “Let’s all calm down and take a deep breath. No one is saying this isn’t hard for you, Y/N. Jared just meant that Jay is letting this eat him up on the inside. You both have a lot of healing to do, and maybe it’s best to try and move past all this together.”
“I’m trying, Gen. I am, but I’m still hurt. When I look at him, I can still see his face when he left and went to Dee’s that day,” she whispered, wiping a tear away that escaped, “I promise I’ll try not to be so hard on him, but I can’t promise I’ll ever be able to take him back.”
“Hey, no one is asking that of you. We just want you guys to be able to live with each other in peace. You don’t need the stress of arguing with him all the time. Me and Jared are genuinely worried for you and the baby. He just doesn’t know how to express that appropriately,” Gen chuckled, giving Y/N a hug when she joined in.
“Yeah, what she said,” Jared huffed with faux annoyance.
“Thanks, guys. You’re right. We can’t possibly make it these next months at each other’s throats. I’ll be nicer,” Y/N rolled her eyes but a small smile on her face.
“Is everything okay?” Jensen asked, noticing Gen hugging Y/N on the couch. No matter how angry she was with him, he still loved her with everything he was and couldn’t stand the thought of her hurting.
“It’s fine. Gen was giving me advice on how to handle these months I have ahead of me,” she said, Jensen nodding and turning to walk away.
“Hey, Jay,” Jensen turned around to see what she needed, “I’m sorry for earlier. I didn’t mean to be so harsh. I want to get along.”
“No need to apologize. I want to get along too, Y/N,” he agreed with a smile, but his face fell as soon as he turned around.
He wanted to get along. That wasn’t the problem. The problem was that he wanted to have her back in his arms, in his bed, and not just sexually. He wanted all of her again, but he knew he didn’t deserve it. He had hurt her deeply, and he had to deal with the consequences. He could only hope that she would forgive him and they could try again one day. But, if not, he would still be there for her, always. She was the love of his life and now the mother of one of his children. Even if they never reconnected romantically, there would never be another woman for him. She was it for him, and he prayed that she would think of him like that again in the future.
Tumblr media
Y/N was sitting in the bed in the guest room watching tv. She had insisted on not being in the master bedroom. It was hard enough being in the house for now. She couldn’t imagine sleeping in the same bed that she had shared with him. That was asking for it. So, there she was, in the guest bedroom of her ex-boyfriend’s house, her mind racing with all the memories of how she ended up there.
She knew that Jensen hadn’t wanted any more kids, but she still didn’t understand his reaction. Sure, she was terrified when she found out she was pregnant, but he had been irate. He had said that he had reacted that way because he was scared, but she had difficulty swallowing that explanation. She had been afraid, but she hadn’t exploded. She hadn’t been so upset that she ruined their entire relationship. She wiped at the tears slipping down her cheeks and took a deep breath. She had to quit thinking about all this if she was ever going to be able to live with him.
She looked around her room at all the things Jensen had put away. He had insisted that he unpack all her things for her so she didn’t have to and would be comfortable. She knew he was trying, but it just wasn’t enough. Not now, anyway. Maybe, one day, she could let it all go, but it wasn’t right now. A knock on her door made her jump, ending her reverie.
“Hey, how are you feeling?” Jensen asked, poking his head in the door.
“I’m good. Just watching some tv.”
“I- uh, I brought you something to eat,” he stuttered, opening the door and walking in with a tray,” I made you grilled cheese and soup. Chicken noodle, not tomato. I know you don’t like tomato soup.”
“Thank you, Jay,” she said with a genuine smile.
“You don’t have to thank me. I’m doing my job. I’m here to take care of you both,” he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. His tell that he was nervous.
“Jay, you don’t have to be nervous around me. I know we aren’t a couple now, but we were friends for sixteen years. Am I still hurt? Yes, but I’m not going to yell or bite your head off,” she chuckled, patting the bed for him to come sit down.
“I don’t want to make you uncomfortable,” he sighed, sitting beside her on the bed and giving her the food.
“I’ll let you know if I’m uncomfortable, Jay. Walking around me like you are on eggshells makes me uncomfortable.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Stop apologizing for everything, too,” she laughed.
“I’m so- Look, I should be apologizing to you all day, every day, Y/N. I fucked up,” he sighed.
“You did, but make it up to me by being my friend again. That’s what I want,” she smiled, making his heart flutter.
“I’ll try, I will, but it will be hard,” he admitted.
“Why?”
“Because I’m still in love with you. I don’t want to be just your friend anymore. I want us again.”
“Jensen,” she sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose, “I know you love me. I love you, but I can’t let it go. Not right now, maybe not ever. I know you said you’re sorry, and I appreciate that. But you don’t fully realize how you broke me that day. You left me to go stay with your ex-wife when I told you I was having your baby. How am I supposed to just let that go? How am I supposed to know you won’t leave me again when it’s something that scares you?” she sniffled, the hurt washing over again.
“Y/N, I don’t know how many times to say I’m sorry and that I royally fucked up! Do you want me to get down on my knees and beg? Grovel at your feet? I’ll do it! Just tell me what I have to do!” he pleaded, his eyes welling up with tears.
“Give me time, and don’t pressure me. I’m going to have to work through this on my own. And I can’t promise I’ll ever be able to be your girlfriend again. But you have to give me time to figure it out on my own, okay? Please?”
“Okay. I won’t bring it up again,” he groaned, standing to leave.
“Jay, don’t be like that. I’m sorry you didn’t get the answer you wanted right now, but please, don’t be like that with me. I’m asking as your friend, don’t make this harder on either of us.”
“I’m sorry, sweetheart. I’ll take you as my friend rather than nothing at all. Forgive me?”
“Of course, Jay,” she smiled.
He didn’t say another word. He leaned down to place a kiss on her forehead and walked out the door, shutting softly behind him. She threw her head back on her pillow and groaned. She hated hurting him, but she just couldn’t move past her own hurt at that moment. She sat up, took a bite of her sandwich, and rolled her eyes. Living with him was going to be a lot harder than she had anticipated.

Haikyuu Boys and a Single Mom Pt. 3
Featuring: Suna, Bokuto, Kenma
Suna Rintaro
despite being a professional volleyball player, Suna was still a university student, he evenly splits up his days to go to volleyball practice and university
he was always dreading to go to university, but he knew he needed it, and you, being his seating beside you in three classes, made university bearable
you had this amazing aura, always so gentle, and kind, you had a soft smile plastered on your face almost like a motherly smile, your voice was always calm and soft, you were just so breath-taking to look at
although you two never talked that much, Suna already knew a lot of little details about you, he once drove pass you walking to the kindergarten just one street away from your university, he knew that you carry a container of fruits in your bag, you always left as soon as classes for the day was over, and that was only a few among a hundred of little things about you
Suna admired you from afar, as much as he likes you so much it physically hurts him, love just wasn't his priority, his priority was volleyball and his career
or at least he thought
life surely has a great sense of humor because somehow you guys ended up being partners for a thesis paper
"I look forward to working with you Suna" you smiled
"likewise" he says with his usual blank face
Suna didn't want to admit it, but he was excited
"so, where do we work on this?" he asks looking at the notes he took for that class
"well, we can work on it at my place" you say casually while also looking at your notes
"are you sure it's okay?" he asks again to make sure, this girl, the person he's been crushing on for his two years in university is now inviting him to her place
"yeah, i can't really spend a lot of time outside, my son hates it"
and just like that Suna was having a mini heart attack, you were married? you have a son? what-
“hey, you alright?” you asked worriedly
Suna quickly composed himself
“uhh y-yeah, won’t your husband get angry?” he asks
“oh don’t worry I raise Kiro by myself” you smiled
Suna looked at you strangely, unable to keep up
you chuckled at his dazed look “I’m a single mother”
Suna almost breathed out a sigh of relief, thankfully he was able to stop himself or else you would get the wrong idea
“yeah, yeah sure, let’s work on it at your place” he snapped out of it, did he sound too happy to hear that you were single? yes, but we ain’t gonna talk about that
what was your ex thinking? he was pretty sure your kid was cute and you were so breath-taking to look at, what a stupid guy
“what does your son likes?”
“hm?” you asked him to make sure you heard him right
“what does your son likes?”
later in the evening, Suna showed up at your place with chocolate chip ice cream and the most expensive sushi he could find
you worked on your project for a good two hours, finalizing the outline of the thesis, while Kiro sat on Suna’s lap, your son immediately liked him, maybe because of the ice cream and sushi , but Kiro was very fond of him
“Kiro, baby, get off of Suna’s lap please he might get tired” you said to your son while you were keeping the things you used
“I don’t mind, he’s surprisingly light” Suna says as he bounces Kiro on his lap
“alright, if you say so, I’m going to prepare snacks” you made your way to the kitchen and left the two in the living room
“mister rin-rin” Kiro whispers while tugging on Suna’s shirt
“hm?” he answers looking at the kid, he was right, Kiro was extraordinarily adorable, it felt like he was looking at a smaller boy version of you and it was making her heart go feral, making him break his rules and try his best to get the both of you
“i want you to be my daddy” he whispers while fiddling with his fingers shyly
please this man is about to combust
he pats the boy’s head “sure bud” he said with a smile
“then can I call you dad?” he asks , eyes sparkling
“well it’s better to start early right? sure you can bud” he says, a full-blown grin plastered on his usually stoic face
Bokuto Koutaro
the flashing and clicking of cameras occupied the whole room where the MSBY Jackals were holding their post-game press conference, they won the game by the way and Bokuto was in high spirits answering questions thrown at him by the reporters
it was your turn to ask a question to the players and you stood up “Bokuto-san, your fans are always wondering why you’re always in high spirits, what is your secret?”
Bokuto has never seen you before, were you a knew reporter? because damn he would’ve noticed you immediately if you were on their past press conferences, you looked like a celebrity to be quite honest
“I’m playing volleyball, there’s no room for me to be unhappy” he simply says
it was you first day at your new job, quite frankly, you’re glad you quitted your old one, they forced you to stay behind the camera and write scripts for anchors when you finished a bachelor degree on broadcasting
“Can’t blame him, I’m also happy when I do my job” you mumble to yourself as you remembered Bokuto’s answer to your question
“mama!” you looked at your son who was in the arms of your cousin Kuroo
“hey thanks for doing this for me couz” you say as they stopped right in front of you
“mama! have you seen the game?! they were so awesome! Uncle Tetsu promised me to go meet MSBY!” your son happily jolts in his Uncle’s arm
you looked at him with a motherly smile, happy that you’re son enjoyed the game
“you coming with us?” Kuroo asked
“you two go ahead I’ll just rest for a bit” you were tired with keeping up with the game and asking questions
the two nodded “alright, just show this to the guard and they’ll let you enter” Kuroo says, handing you a pass
you mutter a small thank you as you watch them walk away
let’s just say Gen, your son, was liked by every single member of the team, I mean, who could ever dislike such an adorable kid?
“MSBY cool! Shoyo pwaaa! Boto bam!” he says while jumping up and down, while Kuroo watched his nephew smiling
Bokuto was particularly very fond of him, was it because the kid was unbelievably adorable? or was it because the kid reminded him of a certain reporter? He’d like to think both
“Gen-kun who’s yer fav’rite player eh?” Atsumu asks the kid
the kid looked at eight full-grown man looking at him expectantly, his eyes stopped on the black-and-white haired spiker and made grabby hands towards him “BOUTO! BOUTO!”
the members were disappointed but not surprised at all, kids tend to go to Bokuto or Hinata since they have the friendliest faces
“HEY! HEY! HEEEY!” Bokuto did not hesitate and lifted the boy up in the air, as they both giggle
“Tetsu?” your voice interrupted the commotion inside the room
Kuroo went to the door and opened it for you and the first thing you saw was your son giggling with the person stuck in your head for about twenty minutes now
“Mama!” your son screamed as soon as he saw you and asked to be put down to run towards you giving you a hug on your leg you looked down at him and patted his head gently
Kuroo cleared his throat “this is Y/N L/N my cousin, the mother of adorable the adorable Gen, she is single and ready to mingle, 2 in 1 you get an adorable son and a lovely wife, contact me for more details, the price can be discussed”
you deadpanned at your cousin, why tf was he selling you like an auction, you shook your head
you were hyper aware of the intensity of the owl-eyed spiker, making you blush
while Bokuto was over here thinking, damn he hit the jackpot an adorable son and an absolutely gorgeous wife? you bet he’s in and he’s gonna do everything he can to win you and make you and your son happy
“I’m sorry about him, please excuse me, my son and I needs to leave” you said politely and bowed as you take your son away
unbeknownst to you, Bokuto was in the middle of business with your cousin
“hey, how much for the details?” Bokuto whispers to his bestfriend as if they were in the middle of an illegal transaction
Kuroo looked at his friend with eyebrows raised
“I’ll pay any amount” Bokuto was very serious, which made the former Nekoma captain burts out laughing
“well, since you’re my good friend, a few drinks will do” Kuroo after his hyena laugh session
“Hey! hey! hey! thanks Kubroo!” Bokuto says in his usual cheery voice
later that night, you wondered why you were having dinner with your son, your cousin, and the former captain of Fukurodani, how he managed to get you flowers in such a short amount of time and this late at night was beyond your knowledge. But you weren’t complaining though, how could you when he looked adorable with a flushed face asking for your number after driving you and your son home.
Kenma Kozume
Kenma wasn’t fond of kids, he didn’t disliked them, he just preferred hanging out with adults who were less hyper, proceeds to hangout with Bokuto, Hinata and Kuroo
but he was a gamer and it is inevitable that some of his fans were kids, he didn’t mind it though he is thankful to each and everyone of his fans
being the twenty-eight year old youtuber/CEO that he is, he barely have time to go out and it happened very rarely, and today happened to be one of those rare occasions as he got out to get some ice cream in a very hot summer day
but he was in a for surprise, at an empty alley, he heard a ruckus
“give it back! please give it back!”
it was never in Kenma’s personality to pry, but something was pushing him to go check out what was going on
he went inside to the dark alley and saw four boys, about eight years old, one was in the middle, his clothes all crumpled and dirty, his bag empty, his things sprawled out, scattered in front of him
“you want this thing? it’s not even the latest model, you think kodzu-”
Kenma cleared his throat, already able to register what was happening
“ken” the bully continued
“you know kids, I don’t really like bullies” Kenma starts as he walks towards the little boy, picking up his scattered things one by one and putting it in his bag
“leave, before I report you to your school” Kenma says stoically which made one of the boys drop the game console in his hand as the three of them scramble to get out of the dark alley
the little boy picked up the game console and tried to open it, but to no avail, it was broken
Kenma went closer as he handed him his bag
“are you okay?” he asked as he crouch down to the boy’s level, it was obvious that he was not okay, his face had little scratches and his clothes were all dirty and slightly damped
but the little boy meekly nodded and looked down on his game console, which Kenma noticed
“I can get you a new one” he says in attempt to cheer up the little boy, he didn’t know what was pushing him to do so, but his heart broke at the sight of him broke his heart
“mister Kodzuken, can you please get this fixed for me instead?” for the first time, the boy looked at him with sad eyes
how could he say no to that face? he took the game console and looked at the boy
“is there a reason why you want me to fix it?” he asks
“my mom worked hard to get me that on my birthday, she didn’t buy her favorite coffee, her favorite bread, she patched up her shoes instead of buying a new one, she even lied to me that she wasn’t hungry when we ate out, I don’t wanna make her sad” the boy sadly said and wore his bag
Kenma was in awe, no wonder this boy was so polite and respectful
“alright, how but I’ll call your mother now, she is needed in this situation” Kenma says as he takes out his phone
the boy slowly dictates his mom’s phone number, and when he was done, Kenma was speechless, the number was already registered as his secretary’s number
Kenma shakily presses the call button
“sir?” your voice from the other line, never seize to make his heart skip a beat
“Y/n do you happen to have a son?” his voice was still calm
“yes, how did you know sir? i have a son he’s name is Eiji, he’s eight” you happily told him
“well, I kinda caught some kids bullying him, I think that you’re needed here” he says calmly
“oh no, my baby, i’ll be there ASAP sir, please do send the location”
“I’ll send the location to my driver, he’ll pick you up” Kenma says and hangs up as he send a quick messege and the location to his driver
Kenma was supposed to ask you out tomorrow, that was the reason why he didn’t go to the office today, he was going to surprise you at his place because he didn’t want you, the girl he liked to the horrible people of the internet
you were too pure, too kind, you always made sure to get him something to eat despite his resistance, made sure that he doesn’t overwork himself and even going to the extent where you do some of his workloads, of course he trusted you enough to do so and you’ve been working with him for four years now
but you had a child? did you have a husband? but you’re resume said that you were single? is it a boyfriend?
“you know mister Kodzuken, mama always talks about you when I ask her about her day, I think she’s got a little crush on you” Eiji smiled softly at him
which almost made the former setter melt into a puddle, the boy was adorable, and even if his original plan was to just date you, he was more than happy to have Eiji, having a mini you around made it all even better, he wasn’t fond of kids but the little boy infront of him was an exception
“I think, I can make that happen” he smiles softly
the day after you appeared looking distressed, talked to your son’s bullies and their parents at the school’s principal office with Kenma and Eiji seating beside you, you were now inside your boss’ house, he was asking you to be his girlfriend, your son happily jumping up and down beside him
how could you say no, when four years ago, you were only dreaming of this moment?

By My Side (Part 7)
Tumblr media
Summary: Jensen hires a team to help watch over the reader after the events of the night before but his suspicions are high and that might not have been the smartest move on his part...
Masterlist
Pairing: Bodyguard!Jensen x reader
Word Count: 3,700ish
Warnings: language, angst, minor violence
A/N: Enjoy!
_________
Four Hours Later
“Hi,” you said, sat on the end of your bed as Jensen quietly walked inside and closed the door after himself. “Is your shoulder-”
“I gave you a direct order. I know you heard me. I know you purposefully ignored me. I-”
“You were losing.”
“It doesn’t matter if I’m losing the fight, if I’m winning it, you get your ass away from the fight.”
“I was okay though. I-”
“Damnit Y/N!” he shouted. You went quiet, Jensen’s chest puffed out, his hands on his hips. “You promised you would listen to me. You promised.”
“I did listen. I-”
“If I can’t trust you to listen to me, then you’re a risk to the both of us. I will stay on as your bodyguard until I can find a suitable replacement.”
“What?”
“I’m giving my notice. We’re done.”
You stared at him and he narrowed his eyes.
“Oh don’t you-”
“I saved your fucking life!” you said, standing and poking him in the chest.
“I told you to run!” he shouted. You got in his face, brushing your nose against his. “You little...I told-”
“He wasn’t after me,” you said. You backed off as you rubbed the back of your head. “Me he wanted out of the way. He wanted you, didn’t he.”
Jensen bit his bottom lip and looked away but you grabbed his jaw and forced him to look at you.
“Why?”
“Word is out about your bodyguard boyfriend. You have money. I’m ransom money to some people.”
“You’re a shitty liar yourself, Jensen,” you said. You walked away from him and went out to your private balcony overlooking the pool. The door opened after a moment and you crossed your arms, leaning against the railing. A hand ran over your head and tucked a piece of hair behind your ear. “You can’t quit. Why did that person want you?”
“Truthfully, they probably wanted the both of us. I was the bigger threat so the guy went after me first. Next time it won’t just be one guy. Whoever is behind all of this will fork over more money for a team. You need your own team to stop that.”
“Why both of us?”
“I’m a soft spot of yours. Next time though they won’t try to take me probably. They’ll kill me outright. I’m too much hassle to try and deal with.”
“Someone wants to hurt me then?”
“I think a few things but I can’t know for sure. I think your life isn’t in danger. Your safety and the circumstances in which you live the rest of your life are but no, this person doesn’t want you dead. The gun didn’t come into play until you were clear of it. This person very much wants to be in my position.”
“My boyfriend?”
“Your protector. I’ll hire a team tomorrow. I know a guy that would be a good fit for your personal guard.”
“I thought I told you that you couldn’t quit.”
“I told you that when I say run, you run. You didn’t listen to me.”
“I’d make the same decision again.”
“Why?”
“Because he was hurting you and I’ve never been that angry in my life. Even the man that killed my father...maybe it’s because this was right in front of me but as long as I had the chance to help, I was going to help. Any bodyguard of mine is going to deal with that so get used to it.”
He leaned back against the railing, staring into the bedroom. He took a deep breath and rubbed his cut shoulder, sliding his hand over to your arm. He unfolded it and took your hand in his, giving it a squeeze.
“I would have liked to have met your father. It sounds like he raised an incredibly brave person like himself.”
“I run if you run too. I hide if you hide,” you said, turning your head. “New rules.”
“Alright. I still want a team. I have a feeling tomorrow night is going to be bad again.”
“I’m supposed to go to Gen’s baby shower,” you said.
“Do you want gun’s around your pregnant best friend?” he asked. You shook your head and he nodded. “They’ll need to reschedule anyways.”
“Why?”
“I need Jared on this with me and he won’t leave his wife and child. They-”
“Jensen. Leave them be. Jared needs to take care of his family. You’ll find a good team. We’ll just...take it one day at a time,” you said.
“You should get some sleep.” He pulled you gently backwards until you spun around and followed him inside. You crawled under the covers, Jensen dragging a chair you had over to your small desk.
“You’re not sleeping?”
“I need to work. I’ll sleep in the morning once I have a hire here to take over for me. You go ahead. I’ll keep an eye out.”
“Jensen,” you said as you lay down. He hummed and stopped the side of the bed before going off to get his laptop you assumed. “Make sure whoever you hires knows to keep an eye out for you too.”
“Yes mam,” he said softly. “Get some rest, honey.”
You woke up late the next day, Jensen passed out in his room when you trodded down the hall. There were five guys and a woman sitting at your dining room table, one of them standing as you gave a wave to them.
“Ms. Y/L/N. Good morning. I’m Brock Finley. I am your second in command and this is my team,” he said.
“I have two rules. Don’t drink all of my coffee and dudes, don’t leave the seat up and clean up after yourselves.”
“Yes, Mr. Ackles did go over your...requests earlier this morning,” said Brock.
“Walk with me, Mr. Finely,” you said, curling a finger. You walked him over to the kitchen, Brock reminding you a bit like Jensen when you first met him. “How do you know Jensen?”
“We served at the same time. I was injured on an operation with him, we recovered in the medical hospital in the same ward and grew to know one another.”
“Keep him safe,” you said. “As safe as me. I’m scared for him.”
“Mr. Ackles is in charge of-”
“I know. But keep him safe. Please.”
“We’ll do our best. The team’s been investigating possible leads and working with your manager to comb through any threats you may have received that seemed minor or even infatuations with you. I think Mr. Ackles is onto something with that track.”
“I honestly have no idea what’s going on anymore,” you laughed. “If you need anything from me, let me know. I plan on staying home today. My step-brother will dropping by shortly.”
“In the future please let us know in advance when guests will be…” he said as he saw the look on your face. “I’m going to return to work. There’s a team of eighteen on the premise, nineteen including Mr. Ackles. Don’t be alarmed if you see people outside.”
“Good to know,” you said, shaking your head as he left. “Eighteen? Really Jensen? I’m barely a B list actor on a good day.”
The doorbell rang and you caught the clock, nearly noon as you groaned. You rushed over and pulled it open, Nick standing there with a very confused look on his face and backpack over his shoulders.
“Hey,” you said as you let him inside.
“Nice SWAT team. Something going on?” he asked.
“Let’s go swimming. Better to talk there.”
“Wow,” said Nick twenty minutes later after you’d told him everything that had happened recently.
“Yup. I didn’t call you to come over cause of that though. I was...I’m nervous that with everyone moving out here you’re gonna be alone back home and it...scares me when...Jensen said something about us loving each other even if we don’t like one another and I think he had a point. I don’t want you to go to a dark place again Nick.”
“Y/N, could you slow down for a second? I know you move at a faster pace than most of us but I’m still on the fact you shot a gun last night. The chick that cried that time she thought she hit a squirrel in the road and she didn’t.”
“Oh. Sorry,” you said. You sat on the steps in the shallow end, Nick wading over and joining you. He sat back and played with the water in front of him for a moment before he let out a deep sigh.
“I like you, Y/N. Michael and I both do. We love you.”
“Why are you two so mean all the time then? It’s not teasing. It’s mean.”
“Cause you’re dad’s favorite. We know it. He never hid it from us. When we needed him, he was always with you and your mom. We think of her as our mom now and you our little sister but god we needed him and we were left on our own. You were an easy target to make us feel more in control. Instead of bonding with you, someone who understood exactly what we felt, we took advantage and we never bothered to stop. You were tough and could take it and we’re assholes. I’m sorry. The only reason I’m alive is because of you. You got me help. You still pay for my therapy. Shit I call you in the middle of the night and you pick up every time and just listen to me. You’re always going to be a better person than I am, Y/N. I suck at saying it but I’ve always been grateful to have you as my sister.”
“Could have just said that in the first place,” you said, wiping your face with the back of your hand for a second. “Come out here, Nick. You’d put my mind at rest.”
“I was never coming,” he said with a smile. “I sort of have a place already lined up back home with a roommate.”
“Yeah but I’m sure…” you said, catching the look on his face. “Oh. A roommate. Oh. Oh.”
“Yeah, hi, I’m bi in case you weren’t aware,” he chuckled. “Michael’s known since we were teenagers but I swore him to secrecy.”
“If we’re gonna have secrets, can we at least just keep them from the parents from now on?” you asked.
“Yeah, I’d like that,” said Nick. “Seriously don’t know you how didn’t catch on that I hang out with my best friend like all the time. Like all the time. And I sleep at his apartment all the-”
“I get it,” you said, Nick smiling. “He good to you?”
“Yeah. You don’t have to worry so much. You’re not the only one watching out for me,” he said. “But you though...what are you involved in?”
“I don’t know,” you said. “Last night got way too close for...say that again.”
“What are you involved in?” he asked.
“Nick, can you do me a favor, like a monumentally huge favor and not tell anyone else about what I said. This is gonna be over tonight anyways.”
“What’s going on?” he asked as you stood.
“I know who wants to kidnap me.”
“Who?”
“My old manager of course. Can you keep everybody away from here the rest of the day? I have a feeling this is going to be messy.”
“She has a point,” said Jensen, half dressed ten minutes later as you spoke to him and Brock, the floor still a bit wet from where Nick had walked out the front door to head back to the hotel. “She did ruin his career.”
“But why escalate?”
“He wants money and his career back...and she is smarter than both of us put together,” said Jensen as it clicked for him.
“You got it?” you asked as he nodded.
“Involved Inn. It’s the firm your manager used to work with. It’s the firm your current manager works with.”
“Inside man,” said Brock. “How’d he know you’d hire him?”
“He knows the kind of person I like to work with and he was smart enough to research Jensen and know that a military background wouldn’t hurt.”
“Oh fuck,” said Jensen, his face going white.
“What?” you asked. He swallowed as he looked around, putting his hand on his holster and pulling out his gun. He undid the clip and showed you that it was empty. “Don’t you need bullets in that?”
“There were bullets,” said Jensen, grabbing your hand and pulling you away from Brock. “Finely Associates. They’re hooked up with Involved Inn. Very, very closely involved.”
“You chose the absolute worst possible group of people to hire you know,” said Brock. Jensen walked backwards with you into the living area, the both of you catching sight of the various guards around. “Two against eighteen is not very good odds.”
“Let me talk to your boss, we can-” you said.
“Kid was unknowingly in on it. Didn’t think his old mentor would screw him over like that,” said Brock. “So here’s how it goes. We-“
“This doesn’t add up. People don’t admit to shit in real life like that. No one’s forcing you to say a thing. This is a paycheck for you. No, something else is going on. You just want us to think it was my old manager, don’t you?” you said. Brock tilted his chin up and you crossed your arms. “You knew Jensen would hire your team and we’d make a connection. So here’s how it really goes. I guarantee I got more money than whatever you’re being paid. You drop this little charade, I pay you, and we get down to the issue of who hired you.”
“Mr. Ackles hired us.”
“You know what I mean. Who-”
“Mr. Ack-”
“I didn’t hire you to do this,” said Jensen. “I said...you got a second phone call, didn’t you. One saying you wanted to perform a live test, didn’t you.”
Brock was silent and Jensen made a face.
“Tell me the truth or you’re all fired and being brought up on charges immediately,” said Jensen. Brock looked nervous for the first time and you pouted.
“You said-”
“Dammit, Finley. You’re all fired. Leave. Now.”
“But sir you said-”
“I hired you to protect her, not play games. All of you, get the fuck out.”
Brock nodded and the team all left, Jensen getting in Brock’s face.
“You are always so gullible. Always. It’s what landed your ass in that hospital. You never verify information. Just go in head first. I-” said Jensen, Brock’s jaw clenching.
“At least my whole unit wasn’t corrupt behind my back! At least I didn’t wind up living in a hole in the ground for weeks because I was too stupid to see-”
“Get the fuck out of my house.” Jensen’s whole body was tense as Brock left, his hands clenched by his sides. The house was eerily still, the only sound was Jensen’s harsh breathing.
After a moment he calmed and turned around, looking you up and down.
“I’m sorry. I thought Brock was smarter than falling for a fake phone call.”
“What exactly just happened?” you asked.
“Whoever wants you set up a fake drill, a test of sorts. Normally we would run one with the participants knowledge or give them a heads up in order to find vulnerabilities in a protection detail. What just happened was to mess with you and for this guy to say he’s smarter than us. It scares me because he probably is and he’s miles ahead of us. I don’t know how to keep you safe by myself, Y/N and I sure as shit don’t know who I can trust.”
“Your old unit, the good ones, call them. They’ll help you.”
“They’re all over the country.”
“You call them and I will get them out here. I will give them whatever they want. Private jets are a thing you know.”
“Y/N-”
“We need help. Let’s get help.”
“I’m sorry I’m so horrible at my job.”
“If you were horrible at your job I’d be in some basement right now. We’ll get through this and then just you and me can go on a trip away, just the two of us,” you said. He looked down and you padded over, taking his hand. “Okay?”
“I can’t stop everything,” he said. “This guy is smarter than anyone I’ve dealt with before, way smarter.”
“Then we call in for backup. We got this. I promise.”
Later That Evening
“Jared,” you said as he walked in the front door with a hum. “Jared Padalecki. What the hell are you-”
“Don’t even start with me,” he said, shutting the door after himself. You opened your mouth but he simply adjusted the bag over his shoulder. “Gen and Tom are safe and you need all hands on deck and frankly I was coming whether you liked it or not.”
“Jared-” you said as he walked past and into the living room.
“I’m here. Get over it,” he said before putting on a smile. “Hey guys. I swear you got uglier, Benny.”
“Must be from looking at you,” said Benny before he stood and gave Jared a hug. You hung back at the kitchen island, quietly listening to the eight of them talk and catch up before Jensen was standing and going over what had happened lately. You got a bit lost once they started talking in technical terms but suddenly they were breaking and everybody was grabbing their bags.
“How you holding up?” asked Jensen when he took a seat beside you.
“Nervous,” you said. “Tonight’s gonna be bad, isn’t it.”
“Hopefully not,” said Jensen as a redheaded woman went over to your fridge and grabbed a can of beer. “Y/N, this is Charlie. She was in charge of tech and surveillance for us back in the day. She works for google now, right?”
“That’s so three jobs ago,” she said with a smile. “She’s cute.”
“Thanks,” you said, Jensen rolling his eyes. “Oh, you’re…”
“Jensen ever bores you, give me a call,” she said with a wink. You swallowed and she laughed, Jensen chuckling to himself. “I’m joking. If I were into dudes I probably would be all over that myself.”
“You are not what I was expecting,” you said.
“Oh just cause we did secret stuff didn’t mean we were all sir yes sir.”
“Charlie was picked straight out of college for her...unique compter skills we’ll call it. If I could train this flailing hot mess, you’ll be just fine, honey. Charlie’s going to stay here with Ash as an attempted diversion. She’ll wear your clothes, Ash’ll wear mine. They’ll put on some wigs, we’ll see how that goes tonight.”
“Where are we going?”
“So this is an interesting hiding spot,” you said, squatted down in your next door neighbors kitchen twenty minutes later. “Thanks again Doug, I really appreciate it, even if I don’t get what’s going on yet.”
“It’s no problem, kid. The girls are on the road with their mother for the week so perfect timing,” he said. Jensen paced back and forth by the window in the dark house, not that you had much of a view of your own from over there. “Mind if I ask why you two trust me of all people?”
“Because you were halfway through kicking that paparazzi’s ass by the time I even showed up,” said Jensen, glancing over his shoulder. “You don’t want someone hurting your kids. It’s not a big leap to you keeping a watchful eye on your young neighbor just in case.”
“What are you expecting to learn from all this though. Aren’t you just going to get the team at best and not the guy?” asked Doug.
“Team could lead us to answers.”
“You know that won’t work. You’re trying to keep your head above water at this point, aren’t you,” he said.
“Yeah, Doug, I am,” said Jensen, snapping back quickly. “You have any genius ideas I’d love to hear them.”
“Y/N, when your show starts back up, would you mind letting the girls have a tour of set? They love it,” said Doug.
“Of course. If I’m still around that is,” you said. He smiled and glanced at his computer. “What?”
“I’m about to use up a huge favor that’s owed me. Glad I held onto it all these years,” he said. He took a seat behind his laptop and took out his phone.
“What are you doing?” asked Jensen.
“I’m going to ask for surveillance from last night, see if we can’t backtrack where that intruder originally came from.”
“You can do that?” you asked.
“It’s not easy but yeah, I can do that. I still have a few friends in the business. Let’s see if we can get you kids a break.”

hi, may i ask you sick semi eita fic? he went amusement park with his team despite feeling a little bit unwell. Later he feels dizzy & nauseous, his team then take him to doctor/dorm. thank you 🥰
Oui oui, mon amie!!
TW: dizziness & nausea, vomiting, hospitals, brief mentions of IVs.
1.4k words, Gen.
ー ー ー
“Oh, the queue for that one isn’t too long!! Let’s go, guys!!”
Semi sighs. While Tendou’s volume doesn’t usually bother him, right now, stuck in the middle of Yagiyama Benyland, surrounded by screaming people and running children, he wishes his friend could turn it down a notch already.
The fabric around his neck feels constricting, suffocating. Semi tugs at the collar of his shirt lightly, clearing his throat silently as he trails behind the rest of the team.
He massages his stomach under the grey hoodie, feeling it gurgle under his touch. It was only two days ago when the pinch-server’s stomach first sent a painful, sudden jolt of white-hot pain throughout his body, making him shudder and gag, taken aback. But since his appendix has long been removed, Semi’s confident that it’s probably just a matter of too much coffee and too little water in his guts. It’s been a stressful week, after all. Nothing he can’t fix. It still hurts, though.
“Are you sure we’re tall enough for that ride?” Goshiki jokes, and everyone laughs, Tendou wrapping a lanky arm around the first-year and ruffling his head with the other hand. More laughter echoes among the group.
Semi shudders, chills running down his spine, stomach twisting. He struggles to even only force out a tiny smile.
The safety belts press against his stomach and shoulders uncomfortably, and Semi doesn’t think he will make it. Next to him, Ushijima sits quietly, waiting for the ride to start. He briefly glances over, humming.
“Are you scared, Semi?”
There’s no malice in his voice, no curiosity either. It’s something along the lines of… Concern? Annoyance? Both?
“M’fine.” Semi gulps, “Just excited.”
“It’s okay to be scared.”
“M’not.”
“Alright. But if you were, it’d be okay.”
“Ushijiー!!” he gets cut off, abruptly, as the thing finally starts to move.
The higher it goes, the more Semi knows he’s not going to make it. There’s no doubt about it. He quickly tries to recall if there’s some sort of trashcan near the exit but he realises that he hasn’t seen any.
His complexion bleaches rapidly. The thing is, Semi isn’t scared of roller coasters, he quite enjoys them, to be fair. Right now, the thing he fears the most is puking all over himself or worse, over the team’s captain.
And he knows it’s going to happen.
The people in the front row start screaming, Semi only a few rows back. It’s only a matter of seconds before he feels himself falling, and the world tunes out.
He doesn’t actually pass out, really. Instead, once the operators remove his safety belts and wish him and his friends a fun day, he lets his shaky legs guide him down the metal staircase, eyes glazed over, blind. He’s not quite sure he’s moving, either. And he looks green.
Semi doesn’t even register that Ushijima’s strong hand is wrapped around his right upper arm, the left in the care of Tendou himself, eerily quiet. They set him down on the first empty bench they find, the team quiet behind the three.
It’s Reon to crouch in front of the ill teen, a firm hand squeezing his knee encouragingly. “Semi? Dude, hey.”
“...up…” he murmurs, seemingly catatonic, staring somewhere behind the team that has gathered in front of him, eyes filled to the brim with apprehension.
The setter swallows, a thin trail of saliva making its way down the corner of his chapped lips and down his twitching chin. He opens his mouth to speak, to say something, but nothing comes out, and soon enough he ducks his head between his knees and retches onto the pavement without a second warning.
His teammates gasp, horrified and worried, but Reon is quick to avoid the onslaught and immediately usher the others away, leaving Tendou and Ushijima behind. The taller guy rubs at his back firmly, while the other puts a palm flat on Semi’s forehead, preventing him from giving himself a whiplash.
His skin feels cold and clammy, ashen. Tendou hisses.
Not long passes before Semi throws up again, more and more bile splashing between his feet, little droplets staining his shoes and jeans. He retches and gags, helpless, eyes stinging painfully, about to pop out of his skull.
Reon jogs back a minute later, stopping a couple of meters away to give Semi some breathing room. “Should we call an ambulance? He looks like death warmed over...”
Ushijima shakes his head. “We should try and make him drink something, first.”
“I don’t think he’s up to it, Toshi.” Tendou reasons, “Semi-Semi, hey, you need to take a breath, my man.” he adds, patting the boy’s shoulder while Ushijima keeps massaging circles on his back.
But Semi doesn’t. He can’t. His stomach twists and knots painfully, and he doubles over, arms wrapped protectively around his abdomen as he hiccup and dry-heaves weakly.
“Does your stomach hurt?” Reon asks, careful, calm as ever, “Do you need an ambulance?”
“Yeah, we should call ‘em.” Tendou says, “It’s not normal to feel this sick after riding a roller coaster as bland as that one, andー”
“He was feeling ill before the ride, too. I didn’t think it was this bad, though. I apologize, Semi.” Ushijima interjects. “I think the ride was simply the last straw.”
The three stay quiet for a moment, Semi’s desperate struggles and pants and hiccups drowning out every other noise. And finally, blissfully, about ten minutes after sitting down, his jagged breaths come to a halt, and he slumps to the side, crashing into Tendou.
“Semi-Semi...? Oh shit. Is he dead? Semi-Semi?” Tendou gasps, “Guys, a little help?”
The ill teen is quick to blink his eyes open, glassy and dull, spent. “H’rts.”
“What hurts?”
“S-stomach. Head.”
Reon nods, serious. He then takes his phone out and quickly types something, before glancing at Ushijima and Tendou, who are both massaging Semi’s trembling back, subconsciously.
“Okay, the closest bus stop is about five minutes away on foot from here, and then it takes about ten minutes to get to Sendai Red Cross Hospital by bus, and another minute on foot after that. What do you guys say?” Reon asks.
Tendou is fast to nod, “Let’s go, we might catch the first bus available if we hurry.”
“I’ll carry him.” Ushijima adds.
Semi then struggles, shaking his headー aggravating his nausea and gagging silently. “Th-the others, and y-you, th-the pa-park and- and the tickets andー”
“Woh, woh, slow down, Semi-Semi!! It’s fine, we’ve been here for hours already anyway, and the entrance fees aren’t that expensive. No worries, okay? Let us worry about the rest.” Tendou says, cheerful, “We’ll text the others to let them know we’re leaving. We can always reschedule for another time, alright?”
“Done.” Reon smiles, waving his phone, ‘Shiratorizawa Volleyball Club’ chat open and rapidly flooding with texts from everyone. “Let’s go.”
Luckily, and unsurprisingly, the bus is perfectly on time, and Semi doesn’t even have the time to register that he’s an eighteen year-old being offered a piggy-back ride from another eighteen year-old. He couldn’t care less. Instead, once he’s on the bus, he drifts, drained.
“Anyone here for Semi Eita?”
Tendou, Reon and Ushijima are quick to reach the doctor, wide-eyed. “How is he!?”
She smiles, “Your friend will be okay, nothing to worry about. He was terribly dehydrated and overall exhausted, courtesy of the raging viral gastroenteritis he has. The nurses gave him an IV to pump some fluids into his system, and once it’s done, I’m going to prescribe him some probiotics to help with the infection and he’ll be free to leave.”
“Can we see him?” Tendou frets, “Is there anything else we should do? Are you sure he’s okay?”
The doctor nods, her expression firm and reassuring. “Viral infections are extremely common, we treat thousands of similar cases each day. I promise you, Semi-san will be okay. And yes, you may see him, of course. Come with me, please.”
The three follow the kind doctor quietly as she leads them to Semi’s bed, in the ER, the thin curtains between his and other patients’ beds being his only source of privacy.
Upon seeing them, Semi sits up, grinning sheepishly, cheeks tinted in red. “Hey there.” he grins.
His friends chuckle, rapidly making their way toward his bed, ruffling his hair and pushing him around with calculated motions.
He’ll be fine.
ー ー ー
I got carried away and started researching how to get to the closest hospital from Yagiyama Benyland, a real amusement park in Miyagi. And yeah, the Red Cross Hospital’s real, too, and the bus as well. I had so much fun researching this stuff. So yeah, I hope you liked it, let me know!!
Also, anon, if you have an AO3 tell me so that I can gift this fic to you when I post it there in a few days.

Hunter accidentally makes his way into the human realm and can't get back home. But he's discovering that might not be such a bad thing.
Ch 2/7: When Mom’s Not Home
Ch 1
“I’m going to tell Belos.”
Hunter woke up with a gasp, patting the area around him. “Red?!” he rolled off of…a couch? Oh—right. When had he fallen asleep? He remembered being up, trying to brainstorm a way to open the portal, up after Camila and Vee had gone to bed—Vee had pointedly locked her door, as if that could keep him out if he actually wanted to capture her.
His palisman chirped cheerfully. Vee was playing with the bird, and Hunter dove for it, snatching Red away. “Don’t touch him!”
She yipped, scrambling back away from him.
Hunter examined the bird in his hands. Red warbled gently at him, and he leaned back against the couch, rubbing his eyes. Sunlight filtered in through cracks in blinds, and Hunter squinted. “What time is it?”
“Ten-ish.”
Hunter bolted upright. “Ten?!”
“Yeah, how do you sleep in that armor?”
“I can’t sleep until ten, I have—” Hunter growled. “Ten. Why didn’t I wake up?!” He glared at his palisman. “Why didn’t you wake me up?”
His palisman cheerfully tweeted that he didn’t have to wake up at five anymore, and he needed the sleep.
Vee held out a hand for his palisman to fly to, but Hunter put a hand in front of Red before it could go to her. She frowned. “Why would Belos care if you had a palisman, anyway?”
Hunter scooped Red up. “He… doesn’t like wild magic.” He squeezed his palisman close to his chest, and Red chirped softly, as if to reassure him that he was still there. “And… he eats palisman.”
Vee’s eyes widened. “That’s horrible!”
“No it’s not!” Hunter said defensively, “He needs them—it’s not like he eats them because they’re a delicious delicacy.” He scratched Red’s head. “I just… don’t want him to eat this one.”
Vee scooted a little closer, eying him nervously. “I… promise I won’t eat Red. I know basilisks get a bad reputation, but I would never hurt another creature.”
Hunter hated the fact that his hands were trembling so bad, and he shook his head, still cuddling Red to his chest.
Camila came down the stairs, tossing a bundle of cloth down next to Hunter. “Tell me if those fit. They might be a bit big—they used to be Luz’s father’s.”
“I’m keeping my armor on.”
“Aren’t you hot?”
Hunter tugged his cape more firmly around him. “I’m keeping my uniform.”
Camila shrugged. “Suit yourself.” She sat down on the couch. “I know you’re not friends with Luz, but can you tell me anything about her?”
Hunter set Red on his shoulder, curling his knees up to his chest. “Only that apparently she’s the best girlfriend in existence,” he snorted.
Camila gasped. “Luz has a boyfriend?!”
Hunter scooted away from her a bit. “Noooooooo.”
“Luz has a girlfriend?! She didn’t tell me! Oh, that’s so exciting! What’s her name?”
“Amity.”
“Awwww, she’s growing up so fast.”
“She’s… she was nice to me,” he admitted, “Uh…” what else did he know about Luz? “She’s… she’s gotten pretty good at using magic. Even though she’s a human. She’s even going to school. I think maybe she fits in pretty well on the Boiling Isles.”
He could almost immediately sense that he’d said the wrong thing. It was something small—it was always a little detail, a tiny shift that he wasn’t sure how he’d caught—but it was enough to make him scoot further away from the human before her mood made a more obvious change. “I can’t do magic,” he continued as if nothing were wrong, changing the subject, “Born powerless.” He scratched his palisman’s head again. “Red here helps me do magic. So does my other staff.”
Camila nodded absentmindedly. “I’m going to work, now. Thank you, Hunter. Vee, there’s leftovers in the fridge. Teach Hunter how to use the microwave, kay? Be good, both of you.”
The human disappeared out the door, and Vee stood up. “Camila doesn’t want Luz to stay in the boiling isles,” she said softly, “She feels like she failed her. Maybe don’t talk about how much better off Luz is in the isles. It’s… a little upsetting.”
Hunter followed her up the stairs. “Why do you care so much? I mean—why stay here? You can look like anyone. Go anywhere. You don’t have to stay here.”
“I need magic to transform, first of all, and there’s not a lot of it out here, and second of all, I like it here!”
“Not a lot of it?” Hunter echoed, “So there is some out here, though?”
Vee disappeared into her room, closing the door. “Go away.”
“Hey! What did I do to you?”
“Why don’t you ask your emperor,” Vee responded, her voice muffled by the door.
Hunter rolled his eyes. “Okay. Look. You don’t like me. Fine. But the sooner I can find anything that will get me home, the sooner I’ll leave, and you won’t have to see me again.”
The door opened a crack again. “Fine. There’s a guy who collects magic stuff. He curates a museum. If anyone has something that will get you back, it’ll be him.”
“Where do I find him?”
“Trust me, you don’t WANT to find him. He’s dangerous.”
“So am I.”
“I’m serious. If he finds out what you are, he’ll kill you, cut you open—don’t go near him. Wait until nighttime and sneak in, if you have to go at all.”
Hunter pulled up his hood to hide his ears, and Red hid inside, chirping softly. “No offense, but I think I can pass as human a little better than you.”
“No offense, but you stick out like a sore thumb in that outfit. If you’re so determined to get killed, then go ahead. Like I said, he’s the curator at the museum. That’s where he keeps his magical artifacts, too.”
“Great.” Hunter started towards the door.
“Do you know where the museum is?”
“How hard can it be to find?”
Vee chuckled slightly. “Never mind, I don’t have to worry about Jacob killing you. You’ll get hit by a car before you even reach the museum.”
Hunter’s ears burned, and he slammed the door behind him. Right. This would be fine, he just had to get to a high vantage point, and then he could find the museum. Make a mental map of the area. He surveyed his surroundings, then scrambled up onto a trash can, hopping up and using the window frame as a foothold as he grabbed the top of the roof, hauling himself up.
There were buildings as far as he could see—rows and rows of them, neat and orderly.
No wonder Uncle Belos wants to combine the worlds.
Hunter scanned the building, looking for one that looked like it would hold old stuff. Finally, he caught sight of a statue next to a building that didn’t share the uniformity of the other buildings. Bingo. He mapped the streets in his head, plotting turns.
When he got back down off of the roof, Vee was waiting for him. “I’m going with you,” she declared.
“Thought you wanted to stay away from the museum?”
Vee crossed her arms. “I’m not going to go in. But Camila wouldn’t want you to go alone.”
“Go away. I don’t need you to babysit me.”
“I’m not babysitting you. I’m making sure you don’t go around conspiring with Jacob to capture me.”
Hunter started down the road. “For the last time, I’m not even a little bit interested in kidnapping you. You’re not hurting anyone here. Why would I care?”
“Oh, I don’t know,” Vee said sarcastically, following behind him, “Maybe because Belos chased me all the way here?”
Hunter stopped dead in his tracks. “What are you talking about?”
“Seriously? You’re the golden guard, how do you not know about the basilisk experiments?”
That bothered him a lot more than he wanted to say. “Great question. I thought basilisks were extinct?”
Vee walked ahead of him, crossing her arms. “We were. Belos created us.”
“How?!”
“I don’t know, how were you made?”
Hunter rolled his eyes, jogging after her. “Well, you see, Vee, when a mama witch and a papa witch love each other very much—”
“Very funny. Look, I don’t know. Belos didn’t exactly bother shoving his scientific notes into my cage.” She looked back at him. “You really didn’t know?”
Hunter shifted uncomfortably. “I’m head of a whole coven. I don’t keep an eye on every single experiment.” Apparently. But that was Belos’ personal experiment, he didn’t need to know everything—he was head of the emperor’s coven, not the emperor.
“Maybe you should have paid a little more attention to your surroundings, coven head. Belos hurt me, and all of my kind.”
“You think you’re the only one Belos has hurt? You’re not special.” The words popped out of his mouth before he could think, and Vee twisted back to look at him.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I mean—he’s the emperor—he has to punish people who break the rules—I’m just saying—”
“Well, I didn’t break any rules, except by existing, I guess.” Vee replied. She stopped. “Here we go. This is where I stop.”
Hunter gazed up at the broken-down building, then at the statue nearby.
His heart seemed to stop in his chest.
That was—
“Vee,” he asked in a strangled whisper, “Why does this town have a statue of Emperor Belos?”
Vee blinked at him. “What are you talking about?” Then her eyes widened. “You’ve seen the emperor without his mask?!”
“Of course I have, I—why is there a statue of him here, Vee?!”
“I don’t know,” she responded in a hushed voice, “Those are town founders, I think.”
Okay. Belos had been here before—he’d known that. He could ask when he got back. Right now, he needed to focus. “Where is the magic stuff?”
“In a room behind the welcome desk. Watch out for Jacob.”
“I can handle one measly human.”
Hunter pushed open the door. No one was at the desk, so he just walked into the back room. Vee was right—there was a lot of stuff in here. He picked up a training wand. Useless, at least to him. Still he tucked it in his pocket. He blinked at the back wall. It was covered in paper, pictures of the owl lady, in her beast form and regular. He traced the red lines with one finger, skipping over an old sketch. He stopped, going back. The sketch was worn and faded, but he could just make out a cardinal.
“Looks kind of like you,” he remarked to his palisman.
Red tweeted in agreement.
“Hey! You can’t be back here!”
Hunter whirled around, whipping out his coven staff. “Stay back!”
The man wrinkled his nose. “Eh, geeze, you really go out like that? Costume needs work, if you’re a little witch wannabe.”
Hunter’s ears burned. “I am not a witch wannabe! Where did you get this stuff?”
The man gave him a fake smile. “Hey, kiddo, it’s just some costume stuff, don’t worry about it, just come on out into the regular museum, okay? If you’re here for those tarot cards, they all got stolen, I’m sorry.”
“It is not just costume stuff.” Hunter jabbed a finger at the pictures of the owl lady. “I’ve met her. I know what she can do. And I know that you collect magical items.”
“You met her? Okay. Wait. I’m Jacob. You met the owl beast?”
“Yeah, she’s a real pain,” Hunter muttered, edging for the door. Nothing here could help him—and he was pretty sure that this curator guy couldn’t, either.
Jacob moved to block the door. “Hey! Hey, hey, hey! Don’t go!”
“This was a waste of my time. Get out of my way.”
Jacob’s gaze zeroed in on the inside of Hunter’s hood. “Is that…”
Hunter backed up, clutching his staff tightly. “What?”
Faster than he could react, Jacob lunged forward, flipping his hood off. Hunter kicked him, then slammed his staff right into the curator’s stomach. “Get back!” he warned.
Jacob gasped for air. “That cardinal—you look just like—” he rummaged around in a desk drawer, dragging out a sketch of a man with a cardinal on his shoulder. A chill ran down Hunter’s spine. That did look like him. Down to the haircut. What was wrong with this town?!
“What’s that, your creepy fanart?”
Jacob’s face turned a blotchy red. “It is not fanart, it is an artistic interpretation of what our town founder’s face would have looked like based on his statue! And except for your ears and scar, you look just like him! You even have the cardinal! Are you descended from him? Or maybe a clone, sent from Mars, and made to take his place?”
Wow. “Yeeahhh. Unlikely.” Hunter ducked around him. “Thanks for showing me your… whatever that was, but I’m going now.”
Jacob grabbed his arm. “You can’t go!”
Hunter kicked him right between the legs, wrenching away and making a break for the door. Vee was right. This guy was just insane. He slammed the door behind him, jumping over the desk and pushing it against the door. The door opened inward, so it wouldn’t hold him, but it would slow him down. Hunter burst out of the museum doors, tearing down to where Vee was sitting at the base of the statue.
“Time to go!”
Vee jumped up, running after him. “What happened?!”
“He’s crazy!”
“I told you!”
The doors to the museum burst open, and Jacob’s eyes widened when he saw Vee. “YOU!” he howled, and he sprinted after the two of them.
Hunter stopped, turning to face him. “I’ll take care of him.”
Vee backpedaled and grabbed his collar, dragging him forward. “You will not! The object is to not draw attention! Which fighting an adult in the street will most definitely do!” She yanked his hood over his ears. “You’re really bad at this.”
Jacob gave up, winded, halfway down the street. Vee didn’t stop running until they’d gotten back to the house, huffing and puffing.
“I could have handled that guy,” Hunter panted, “Easy.”
“You’re—crazy. Did you find anything that would help you get home?”
“No,” Hunter sulked, “Just a lot of useless junk.”
“Told you. What did you say that made him go after you?”
Hunter shuddered. “He went on and on about how I looked like one of those statue guys.”
“Oh, yeah. He thinks that the town founders got kidnapped and taken to the demon realm by a witch.”
Hunter rubbed his arms. “Not sure he’s wrong about that part.” That statue had looked way too much like Uncle Belos to be a coincidence. “I… guess you’re going to tell Camila about what I did?”
Vee shrugged. “I don’t know. It might come up. We like to talk about our days at dinner. Why?”
Hunter shifted from foot to foot. “No reason.”
Vee gave him an uncomfortably understanding look. “She won’t get mad. She didn’t tell you not to go there. If anything, she’ll be worried.”
“I… I put you in danger, though.”
“I went on my own. You didn’t make me. Actually, I’m pretty sure you told me not to come.”
“I just… Whatever. It doesn’t matter.”
Vee held open the door for him. “Camila isn’t going to hurt you.”
“I never said she would!”
“No, but you were thinking it. I get it. I used to get worried about making her mad, at first. It’s hard to imagine the adults not hurting you. I won’t tell her if you don’t want me to. But Camila’s not like that.”
Hunter’s shoulders stiffened. “I’m not like you. You were an experiment, you were locked up. I’m the head of the emperor’s coven. I wasn’t—I was happy.”
Vee shook her head. “If you say so.”
“I was!” Hunter took a deep breath. “Look, I… I’m sorry. That you were hurt.”
“By Emperor Belos. Your boss.” Vee pressed.
Hunter rubbed his arms. “Y-yeah. Sure. Whatever.”
“He’s… not a good person, Hunter. You know that, right? You ran from him for a reason.”
“I was just—I was scared of getting punished. But I—I shouldn’t have attacked Kikimora. I would have deserved—”
“Why are you defending him?!”
“I’m not you, Vee! Maybe to you he was a horrible tyrant, but to me, he’s the only family I’ve got! He cares about me, Vee. Sometimes he can be harsh, but it’s just because he wants me to be my best self!”
Vee shook her head. “I can’t believe it. You actually think that!”
“Of course I do! Because it’s the truth!”
Vee jabbed a finger at him. “There’s more than one way to lock someone in a cage, Hunter. And I’m starting to think that I got the better bargain.”

A blade should be sharp at all times
Marrows up to the group, his tail wagging ecstatically behind him: You guys want to play a prank on Juan?
Ren and Nora’s eyes narrow, but they say nothing.
Flynt, Cobalt, Ivory, Neon, Yang and Elm all look at him with obvious interest.
Harriet snorts dismissively: Why would I want to bother the new meat? He’s got enough problems as it is.
Winter nods her head in agreement.
Marrow’s tail stops wagging, as he looks offended: Because it would be funny!
Harriet rolls her eyes and walks away.
Marrow: Fine, be that way!
He turns back to the more interested members of the room: So, what about you guys? Wanna hear it?
Ren says nothing and Nora motions for him to continue: Depends on what the prank is?
Yang nods along: Yeah, Xiao-Long as it’s nothing too mean to Milf-Magnet.
The rest of the room groans; while Yang absorbs the life-force they’ve lost to her pun.
Marrow smiles and continues: It’s nothing too out there, it’s just an old Atlas military tradition, to see how prepared a recruit is for field work.
Ren rubs his chin: I don’t know, Jaune and the rest of us have spent pretty of time in the field, he hardly ever leaves his armor, or his weapons besides when he cleans himself.
Marrows smile widens: That’s the idea!
Ren’s eyes widen in disbelief: You’re going to prank him in the showers?
Marrow doesn’t say a thing but his tail wags faster.
Ren groans and hold his face.
Nora though...
Her face splits into a manic grin as she starts cackling wildly, falling onto her back as she laughs so hard.
Ren shakes his head in leaves.
Marrow points his hand at Ren: STAY!
Ren freezes in place.
Marrow a little sheepishly: Uh, can’t have you spoiling the surpise, sorry.
Nora still keeps on laughing.
Ren’s pink eyes sparkle briefly, then a magenta pulse of aura breaks Marrows hold on him.
Marrows eyes widen in disbelief.
Ren rolls his neck and scowls at Marrow: Believe it or not, having strong aura control is just as important as a strong semblance.
Marrow falls to his knees, his tail desperately waving behind him: Please, please, don’t tell Joanna!
Ren shakes his head and leaves.
Nora: Don’t worry, he won’t say a thing or do anything, in fact, neither will I. Have fun kids.
Nora then follows Ren out.
The room goes silent.
Yang: Well, that’s ominous.
She then notices Winter is still in the room.
Yang: Why are you still here?
Winter huffs: To make sure you all don’t go too far with your ‘Prank’. I will observe and intervene should you all go to far.
Marrow cheers: Yay! Alright, everyone here is how it’ll work. Flynt, Ivory, and Cobalt, you three will being most of the legwork. Cobalt and Ivory, find Jaune and tell him he’s got special permission to use the Specialist private bathrooms, Flynt I want you to hide in the bathroom and use your semblance to make it seem like we’re under attack to scare him out.
Marrow takes a breath and turns to Neon, Yang and Elm: Here’s you girls is part, to really sell it I want you all to make sound noises and make it seem like you’re fighting, then when Joe runs out from the showers I’ll make his freeze, then you girls can throw cold water on him! He’ll be so embarrassed!
Ivory and Cobalt shrug, though Flynt, Neon and Yang seem a little put off.
Neon: I don’t know, seem a little mean spirited.
Flynt: Yeah, we’re not best friends and all, but I don’t want to embarrest the guy.
Yang scratches her chin: It doesn’t seem very, cool thing to do to a friend.
Elm though looked excited: Don’t worry! This is nothing, what’s a little nudity between comrades! If you’re out in the field and not prepared to fight at anytime, even naked, or if you get embarrassed by your comrades seeming you nude, you’re not cut out for being a Hunter. Hell, all of the Ace-Ops have done it. Even Winter!
The sound of a sword leaving it’s sheath rang out.
Winter says says menacingly. I made you promise to never speak of it again, all of you.
Elm: Oops.
Marrow waves them off: Whatever! Anyway this is just a rite of passage in Atlas, come on guys it’ll be a laugh.
The group thinks it over and eventually complies.
Marrow: Alright! Lets get this show on the road!
--------
Ivory and Cobalt escort Jaune through the halls.
Jaune: Wow, Gen. Ironwood really said I could use the Specialist Showers? That’s really kind of him!
Ivory nods and smiles: Gen. Ironwood always takes care of his own.
Cobalt taps Jaune’s shoulder and gives him a approving look.
Cobalt: Deserve it, hard training and self-improvement are their own reward. But, Top Brass notice.
Jaune’s cheek glow slightly, a slight smile forming: Thanks, It really hard sometime, you know, to be able to see that I’ve improved, heh, no matter how much I feel like i’ve grown, I still feel like a waste of space and a burden on my team.
The group comes to a stop, Ivory and Cobalt looking slightly uncomfortable now.
Jaune turns around flashing them a pleasant grin, “Well, thanks guys. I’ll make sure to tell the General thanks, and that I won’t disappoint his trust for giving me a chance to be Huntsman.
Ivory and Cobalt say nothing and nod.
Jaune then enters the private bathroom.
Cobalt and Ivory look at each other.
Ivory: Are we the baddies?
Cobolt: Yes, but better him, than us.
Ivory sighs and taps his wrist, a small ringing occurs.
Ivory: The target is in position.
-------
Jaune walks through the state of the art bathroom humming a pleasent tune, completely unaware of the watching eyes on him.
He goes into a stall and undresses, the prying eyes losing sight of him.
Jaune then leaves the stall a towel wrapped around his waist and goes the hi-tech showers, another towel bundled in his arms.
Flynt watches Jaune enter the shower stall and sighs deeply, he liked Jaune, he really did, a decent guy all-around. But, if it kept others from seeing’s Flynt’s birthmark for another day, he would do what must be done.
He used his semblance, dividing himself into four copies of himself and then took off running inbetween the stalls.
Flynt x4: We’re under attack!
As Flynt came to the end of the room, he was not prepared for what happened next.
--------
Neon and Yang sparred with Elm in the changing room, where Jaune would have to enter to get dressed, trying to create as authenity as possible combat sounds.
Elm grabbed Yangs right hook and swung her into Neon.
Elm smiles: Got to be quicker than that.
Yang and Neon got off of each other and squared up for round two.
Marrow whispered yelled at them: It’s time! Get into postion, I just heard Flynt.
The girls and Elm nodded picking up bucket of ice-water while Marrow got ready to freeze Jaune. With Marrow having to stop himself from cracking up at the thought of Jaun’s expression.
Yang looked slightly recluntant, but the idea of a good prank won out.
Winter sighed in the corner ready to stop the prank if it goes to far, and hopefully preserve some decency.
The wall to the showers exploded out towards them, a spray of dust and stone and metal sharpnel covering the room, as heavy wet foot steps ran towards them as bellowing war howl echoed out from the destroyed room.
A figure running through the cloud of dust glowing a faint golden white, carrying a mechashifted sword in two hands over his head, the blade glowing blue from the hardlight dust along with gravity dust purple in the middle.
Jaune then leaps out of the dust howling: Just try and take them from me again you bastards! I’ll split you in twain, I’ll break you over my knees and slay you! I won’t let you take them from me again!
The group stands dazed as Jaune runs straight through them and through a wall, completely naked, his towel being shredding into binding that tied his meaty tube of a cock to his lower-thigh, while holding his sword overhead before slashing in front of him creating a hole for him to jump out into the campus.
A blush creeps up the faces of those present.
Marrow burst out laughing: That was amazing! Did anyone, get a picture?
Elm falls to her knees: I think I’m in love?
Neon shake her head sadly: No, I was too... Mesmerized.
Yang: So that’s why he wears two belts.
Winter...
Winter has disappeered.
------
Later that evening....
Atlas Reporter: A well-known Huntsman known as Jaune Arc has gone on a murderous Grimm-Hunting rampage all while streaking! What will those crazy kids think of next! Next on the block, pregnancy rates in Mantle having been climbing by over 750% over the last six hours, is this related to the previous new? The Answer may surprise you.
Ren flicks the Scroll-Box closed.
He then rests his head on Nora’s shoulder.
Ren: Yep, it happened again.
Nora: We did nothign to stop it.
Ren: We could have warned them... But, better they learn first hand.
Nora: You did it because you thought it was funny, don’t you dare lie to me.
Ren smiles as he opens the scroll so that Nora can see, the Scroll showing a madly blushing Winter chasing after Jaune in a Bullhead, providing both aerial support, and firing t-shirt and boxer shorts at him, while he rampages through a horde of Grimm.
Ren smirking and pulling Nora close: You know me too well.

I miss writing these
“Can I talk to you guys about something?” Harry asked his parents nervously.
“Yeah what’s up?” Lily put down the book she was reading.
Harry walked in and sat on the soft chair across from them.
“I’m dating someone”
James laughed “We know. Remember the whole sneaking out to be with Ginny event.”
“No, umm. It’s not Ginny”
“Did you two break up?” Lily asked in concern.
“We, we were never dating or had anything- going on.”
“Okay” James drew out the word in confusion. “Than why did you say tha-”
“I’m gay.” Harry blurted out. “Or bi at least.”
“Oh. You know we have no problem with that.” James told him.
“It doesn’t matter who you love as long as you are happy.” Lily smiled at him. “Who’s the boy you’re dating?” Her smile turned into a smirk.
“That’s, umm, well see, that’s kind of the problem. You wouldn’t-” He struggled with the words.
“What? Who is it?” James asked.
“You can’t be mad. I mean, I know you probably will be but I really, really like him so please try and at least understand.”
“Oh honey. We don’t care at all who it is” Lily told him.
“Like your mom said, as long as you’re happy we’re happy for you. As long as he treats you well we’ll support your relationship.” James added.
“Okay.” Harry took a breath. “I’m dating Draco. Draco Malfoy.”
His parents fell silent.
“Malfoy? Draco Malfoy? As in Lucius Malfoys son? Severus Snapes godson? The godson of the man who snapped your godfathers ankle in half?”
Harry nodded and looked down at his hands. Tears filled his eyes as he waited for his parents to tell him he had to break up with his boyfriend.
“Thats, uh, yeah.” James nodded his head once. “That’s fine”
“Wait, really” Harry snapped his head up. “You’re okay with it?”
“Does he make you happy?” Lily asked.
Harry nodded.
“Does he treat you right?”
Harry nodded again.
“Then we’re happy for you.”
“Yeah.” James agreed with his wife. “And I promise I’ll try to like him, well not like. Tolerate, yeah, I’ll try to tolerate him.”
“Thanks dad” Harry smiled.
“Just wondering how you’re going to tell your godfather” Lily smirked.
“Oh my god I don’t even want to think about it” Harry laughed and put his shaking head in his hands.
+++++
“Are you going to tell him?” Fizzy bumped Harrys shoulder with her own teasingly.
“No.” Harry said as he looked at his godfathers, who were cuddled up together on the couch.
“H, they love you. Just tell them. If my Papa gets mad, my dad will reason with him. You’ll be fine.”
“I don’t know and even if you’re right, how do I tell them?”
“You can bring D over and just start making out.” She smirked.
“Absolutely not. I don’t want him murdered.” Harry insisted.
“Just tell them, H. You’ll feel so much better after you do.”
“Okay.”
“Really?” Fizzy perked up.
“Yeah” Harry nodded and split his face with a smile. “Yeah.”
“Yay!” She threw her arms around him. “Let’s go” She dragged him into the living room.
“So...” Harry started. “Actually nevermind.” He tried to go back to the kitchen but Fizzy turned him back around.
“Tell them or I will.”
“Can you?”
“No” Fizzy scoffed. “This is yours to share and yours to share now before you make yourself sick worrying. Now I’m leaving and giving you three bonding time. Dad and Papa, tell me what he told you so I know he didn’t chicken out. Goodbye, love you all.” She left with a wave.
“What’s going on?” Remus asked as Harry sat down on the opposite couch.
“You can tell us anything Haz.” Sirius told his godson.
“I-I’m gay.”
Sirius laughed. “Were you really worried about telling your gay godparents that you liked guys? I thought you got a girl pregnant or something, oh mon Dieu.”
“He means, we support you and we’re happy you told us.” Remus smiled.
“And I’m dating Draco Malfoy.”
“What?” The smile fell off their faces.
Harry looked down, not able to meet Sirius’s eyes. He could see the flash of anger and what Harry could only describe as disappointment, in his eyes when he said his boyfriends name.
“Harry...” Sirius began.
Tears fell before Harry even knew they were filling his eyes. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” He sobbed.
“What? No. No.” Sirius walked over and pulled him into a hug. “You have nothing to be sorry for.”
“H-he’s like you. He hates-hates then. All of them. He’s fuck-fucking terrified of them.” Harry sobbed into his side.
“Shh, it’s alright. It’s alright. I know you wouldn’t be with him if he was like the rest of them. It’s okay.” Sirius rocked him back and forth.”
Remus walked over and rubbed his back soothingly. “We don’t care who you date, Haz. As long as you’re happy.”
He let his godfathers comfort him for a few more minutes before sitting up and wiping his eyes. “Sorry”
“It’s okay” Sirius smiled at him. “When did you two start dating?”
“Um, a little over a year ago.”
“A year” Sirius blinked as his eyes got wide.
“Wow. You must really like him.” Remus said.
“Yeah. Yeah, I do.” Harry smiled at the thought of his boyfriend.
“I know that look” Sirius pushed him teasingly. “You love him, don’t you?”
Harry nodded. “A lot”
“We’re happy for you” Remus told him.
“Thanks Remus”
“Do your parents know?” He asked.
“Yeah. I told them a few weeks ago. They met him last week.”
“Well, you should let us meet him soon.”
“Really?” Harry asked.
“Of course.” Sirius agreed with his husband. “Though I’m sure he’s already been here.”
Harry blushed and looked at the ground.

Previous///Next
Tumblr media
You yawn for the fourth time after clocking into work today and rub your tired eyes. Your exhaustion does not go unnoticed by your boss.
“Long night?” Osamu asks as he finishes restocking the fridge.
“More like long week.” Another yawn threatens to leave your lips and you have to force yourself to stop. “There’s been construction going on near my apartment and the elderly couple next door seems to be having some sort of argument for the past few nights. If they don’t figure their issues out by tomorrow, I’m gonna have to have a talk with my landlord.”
Osamu gives you a sympathetic glance and pats your shoulder. “I hope they do. Can’t have my favorite employee walking around like a zombie every day.”
“I’m your only employee, Osamu-san.”
The man just shrugs his shoulders before giving you a more serious look. “You sure you’ll be okay though? I wouldn't mind if you left early today.”
You waved off his suggestion. “No, I’ll be fine. Plus, we have a lot going on today. I’d rather not leave you to deal with that on your own, especially since the entire team is coming to help out.”
There were only a few weeks before the V. League Championships, so the starting players of MSBY were coming in to volunteer and advertise their big match against the Schweiden Adlers. Atsumu was the one to suggest having this event and his coach seemed to like the idea. It did take a while to convince Osamu to allow anybody to work at his precious restaurant but gave in after his brother promised to wear a giant onigiri costume during the entire event and buy him some Wagyu beef after his next paycheck.
Before Osamu could ask you anything else, the front door to Onigiri Miya was roughly opened and the seven MSBY starting players sauntered inside. Everyone greeted each other briefly and Osamu was just about to get them set up in their spots, but MSBY’s setter had other plans.
Atsumu placed a large bag on top of the counter and took out what looked like picture frames along with a power drill.
Osamu raised an eyebrow. “What are you doing, you scrub?”
“What should’ve been done a long time ago!” Without hesitation, Atsumu approached the wall with all of the autographs from previous customers and began to put up seven other frames. He was clearly still upset about the fact that his brother had autographs of the rival team in his shop, so the blonde decided to take matters into his own hands and hang up signed portraits of himself and his teammates. There were shouts of displeasure from your boss and you’d normally be the mediator between the twins, but you felt too tired at the moment to care.
Meian Shugo, the captain of MSBY, approached the spot next to you and gave you a kind smile. “Hey, (Surname)-san.”
“Hello, Meian-san.” You returned the smile with a small wave.
Your boss wanted to meet up with all the volunteers a week prior to the event in order to teach them what they were responsible for, especially those who were helping with the cooking. Since he had asked you to help out, you were able to meet the three remaining MSBY players for the first time last week as well.
“(Surname)-chan, do you need any help with anything before customers start rolling in?” Inunaki Shion questioned as he skipped over to where you were with his teammate, Adriah Thomas, following behind.
“Actually, we need to set up a few tables outside in case it gets a little packed indoors during the lunch rush. Do you guys mind bringing the tables and chairs outside with me?” You pointed towards the plastic tables that were leaning against the wall.
“Sure thing!” Inunaki briefly translated what you had said to Thomas in English and the latter simply nodded his head in understanding. As Thomas was walking past you to grab one of the tables, he lifted his hands in front of you. You haven’t really been able to speak with him since you weren’t very fluent in English, but he has always tried to be as friendly as possible around everyone and seems to love giving high-fives. You thought his actions were endearing, so you gave him a high-five with an equal amount of enthusiasm.
After grabbing what you needed and stepping outside, you spent a couple minutes directing each of them to where everything was supposed to be set up. Once that was done, you ushered them back inside. “Thanks guys! We’re opening soon, so let me know if you have any questions on what you’ll be doing.”
Unsurprisingly, Atsumu and Osamu were still bickering, but now Atsumu had a large black and white onigiri costume in his arms. “How the hell am I supposed to wear this all day, ‘Samu?”
“Easy. Just put it on and keep it on.” The onigiri chef explained. “Bokuto-san, do you mind helping him put it on?”
“Sure thing, Myaa-san!”
Everyone spent the next few minutes decorating the room with MSBY merchandise or helping Atsumu put on his costume and before you knew it, the first customer had arrived. Multiple voices rang throughout the shop, “Welcome to Onigiri Miya!”
Thankfully, the first couple of hours went by without any issues. You were surprised at how all of the guys were able to adapt to their jobs so quickly.
Normally, the customers take their food from the counter themselves, but for the event, Bokuto and Inunaki served as waiters. They seem to be doing a pretty good job so far and the customers love their amiable personalities.
Atsumu was sent outside to give out fliers and keep watch of the people eating outdoors. He would come back inside every so often to refill on fliers or complain about the onigiri suit, and it usually ended up with him being chased out by Sakusa who was on cleaning duty (“Omi-kun why do you keep hitting me with the broom?!”/”I was told to clean any trash on the ground.”). Sakusa was a bit reluctant to be put strictly on cleaning duty but voiced no complaints when you told him that this job requires the least amount of human interaction.
Hinata and Thomas stayed in the kitchen to assist Osamu with cooking. The three worked quite well together and Hinata would translate anything for Thomas if need be.
You and Meian stood next to each other comfortably. You were doing what you normally did at the register except Meian took over all the phone orders.
Even with fewer responsibilities than usual, waves of exhaustion seeped into your bones throughout the morning. There would be the occasional superfan that would walk in and ask for a picture with all the players while squealing in a pitch that could outmatch a dolphin. Just the thought of it gave you a bigger migraine.
“-san…-rname)-san?...(Surname)-san!”
Your eyes shoot up to Meian who has been calling your name for who knows how long. Apparently, your fatigue was also affecting your reaction time. “Ah! Sorry, Meian-san. Did you need something?”
The tall man eyes you with worry. “Are you okay? You seem distracted.”
“Yeah, I’m okay. Just a bit tired.” You brush off his concern.
He looks like he wants to say more but is interrupted by Hinata who had popped his head in your periphery. “Hey, (Name)-san. Do you know where Osamu-san keeps the olive oil? He stepped away for a moment to check on something and I can’t find it.”
“Oh, yeah. I can get that for-!”
As you turn around from your spot, your vision blurs and you feel your knees give out from the sudden lightheadedness. There are several alarmed voices around you, but you don’t think you can react fast enough to stop yourself from falling over. You prepare for any pain, but before your head could hit the counter, strong arms wrap around your waist.
“(Name)-san!”
Hinata’s voice is right next to you, so you can assume that he is the one who caught you. The poor man looks like he’s about to call an ambulance in panic, so you place a hand on his forearm to let him know you’re still awake.
It seems like all the noise also caused your boss to rush back from whatever he was doing because his figure is suddenly crouched down in front of you. Without warning, Osamu places a gentle hand on your forehead and you involuntarily blush. “Your face is a little red, but it doesn’t seem like you have a fever. You said you weren’t getting enough sleep lately, right?”
“I-I think I just turned around too fast. I’m fine.” You tap Hinata’s arm to get him to let you go and make the effort to stand up on your own to show that you didn’t need help.
Osamu stood up and crossed his arms, his gaze focused on the dark circles under your eyes. “No, you are not. Go to the back room and take a break.”
“I’m seriously okay. Lunch rush is almost here and I don’t want to make things difficult for the other guys,” you argue back.
Osamu doesn’t seem like he wants to back down either. “Would you rather I tell you to leave early? It’s either take a break now or go home.”
After watching you and Osamu go back and forth, Meian felt the need to intervene. “Don’t worry, (Surname)-san. I’ve been with you all morning, so I have a pretty good idea of what I need to do. We’ve got more than enough hands to help out.”
There’s a brief silence as everyone waits for you to say something. You finally let out a defeated sigh. “Alright. I’ll take a break.”
The guys around you feel the tension leave from their shoulders at your compliance.
“But,” you lift up a finger to get their attention, “you have to call me if there are any issues or if you need help with the register.”
“Got it, got it. Now go, (Name)-san.” Osamu walks around you and places his hands on your shoulders as he pushes you towards the back room.
When the door closed behind you, there was an unfamiliar silence permeating the room. You’ve never taken a break by yourself, so you felt slightly uncomfortable. Deciding to just lay on the small couch at the corner of the room, you looked up at the ceiling not exactly knowing what to do during your ‘break’. You didn’t even realize your eyes started to droop until they were fully closed and you entered a deep sleep.
Tumblr media
You stretch your arms as you walk back to the register feeling much more refreshed than you were before and mentally thanked your boss for convincing you to take a break.
There’s a small skip to your step as you get closer to where Meian is, but his strange posture makes you halt. When you look around the counter, there are multiple customers waiting in line and all of them seem to have irritated expressions. Meian has the phone up to his ears and he’s stuttering so much that you can’t even make out what he’s trying to say.
You’re about to reach out to help him, but the front entrance suddenly opens and you can’t help but gape at the sight. Standing in nothing but pants and an apron, Atsumu runs a hand through his blonde locks while sweat runs down his skin. You’re not sure why he’s shirtless or how he got away with taking off the costume, but your focus is once again taken away by another volleyball player.
Bokuto grabs a tray of food that Osamu left out and rushes to one of the tables. In his haste, he accidentally trips over his own feet and everything on the tray is sent flying. Your eyes widen when you witness the owlish man produce an entire front flip in the middle of the tiny restaurant and land it successfully. Although, the food didn’t survive and proceeded to fall right on top of Sakusa’s head with a resounding plop.
“Wow! Bokuto, when did you learn to do that?” Inunaki asks excitedly.
“I’ve been practicing so that I can have a grand entrance at the game!” Bokuto stands proudly, completely oblivious to his seething teammate. Sakusa is absolutely furious and looks like he’s about to blow a fuse.
Atsumu chooses to step in and make an attempt at calming his friend lightheartedly. “Hey, Omi-Omi! You’re overreacting. Just wash it off and call it a day. No need to get so mad at your friend.”
Atsumu’s words only seem to infuriate the dark haired male even more. “Get out of the fucking way, Miya. I don’t need your dumb excuses of friendship. I’m sick and tired of your shit.”
You could almost see the poison being spit out of Sakusa’s mouth as he directed his harsh words at Atsumu. The blonde seemed to have finally snapped as well as he alarmingly lifted one of his fists. Before Atsumu could cause any harm, Osamu grabbed his brother’s arm. You didn’t even notice your boss approach the two.
“‘Tsumu! What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Osamu kept a tight grip on Atsumu as he glared. “Stop being an idiot and calm down.”
Atsumu roughly grabbed onto his brother’s collar with both of his hands. “You expect me to stay calm after hearing that? And, calling me an idiot doesn’t help, ‘Samu!”
You’ve finally had enough of being just a bystander, so you quickly ran around the counter and put a hand on each of the twins’ shoulders trying to lightly tug them away from each other. “Guys, you need to stop. Fighting in the middle of the shop is not going to solve anything.”
You knew that your words alone wouldn’t be enough to relieve their anger, but what you didn’t expect was the arm that harshly swung out in your direction, pushing you into the nearest table. If it weren’t for Bokuto and Inunaki steadying your balance, you could’ve been seriously injured.
“Stay out of this, (Name)-san.” Anger seems to have blinded Osamu and he doesn’t look even the least bit guilty for pushing you. “You’re being annoying. I don’t need you.”
If you could describe the way your heart felt after hearing those words, you would compare it to shattering glass. You knew you shouldn’t allow his words to affect you this much, but your emotions had failed you and all you could do was look down with tears in your eyes. Maybe this wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t taken that break.
Unfortunately, the universe didn’t seem to want you to even contemplate on your decision when a loud scream was heard from the kitchen area. Everyone in the room watched as Hinata, Thomas, and Meian collectively yelled the one word that could’ve made this situation worse.
“FIRE!!”
Tumblr media
Your body aggressively shot up into a sitting position with your arms outstretched as you let out a startled gasp. A bead of sweat ran down your face and you took a second to take some deep breaths. Once you felt like your heart wasn’t going to jump out of your chest, you took in your surroundings.
You were alone in the back room of Onigiri Miya sitting on the same couch that you must have fallen asleep on when you first walked in. There was a thin blanket on top of your body that you don’t remember having before losing consciousness, but you didn’t wait to dwell on it as you tossed it aside and stood up to go back outside.
Throwing the door open, you steeled your nerves at the potential chaos that you might have to confront after your terrible, anxiety-provoking dream. However, the sight in front of you was... completely normal.
Your boss, being the closest one to the door, was the first person to notice your presence and smiled as you walked up to him. “Hey, (Name)-san. How are you feeling?”
“Uh...better? How’s everything out here?” Your eyes shift around the room to see if anything was unusual. “No raging fire or um...missing shirts?”
Osamu looked at you with confusion. “Not that I know of? It was a bit rocky after you left, but after about an hour everyone adjusted pretty well.”
Your shoulders released their tension at the fact that there weren’t any issues in your absence but immediately tensed back up when you realized what Osamu had just implied. “An hour?! How long was I asleep for?”
“Maybe about four hours?”
“Four-!” Almost choking on your words, you pulled out your phone to check the time and it has indeed been four hours since you started your break. “Why didn’t anyone wake me up?”
“I came in to check on you after about half an hour, but you seem really tired, and as your boss, I need to make sure you’re not overworked or sick.” Osamu brought up an arm to rub his neck sheepishly. “I know how you feel about me being concerned about your health, but I’d rather have you upset at me than risk you ending up in a hospital.”
A pout makes its way onto your face. How were you supposed to be upset if he gave you a reasoning like that?
Taking your silence as a sign to keep talking, Osamu brings his arm down and places his hand on your head comfortingly. “We’re not closing just yet, so you can still help out. I know you don’t like missing out on work, so there’s still some things to get done, if you’re good with that?”
You nod your head eagerly. “Yeah, sounds good. I’ll try to make up for what I missed.”
When you returned to the register, some of the MSBY players welcomed you back happily. Hinata and Meian gave you worried looks but felt reassured when you gave them a cheerful thumbs up. The only person you haven’t seen in a while was Atsumu, so you assumed he was still working outside.
Since holding the MSBY event for an entire normal work day might tire out the players, Osamu had planned to close earlier than usual, which meant that there was only about an hour left before closing. You tried your best to do as much as you could during that hour, even checking up on everyone every once in a while.
Ten minutes before closing, a woman walked in with two young boys by her side. You could make the assumption that they might be twins based on the uncanny similarities between them. Although, one of them seemed much more outgoing than the other based on their mannerisms and the two reminded you of another set of twins. The kids must’ve been playing outdoors before walking in since their hands were covered in dirt.
The mother lightly pushed her sons towards the back of the room. “Why don’t you two go wash your hands in the bathroom, while I order the food?”
“Okay!” The more extroverted twin answered back and ran towards the bathroom after grabbing his brother’s hand.
The woman asks for a to-go order and strikes up a conversation with Bokuto and Inunaki while she waits. After a couple of minutes, there are strange noises and laughter coming from the bathroom. When you looked up, the mother was still standing with the two men, so her sons must still be in the bathroom.
Tapping Meian on the shoulder, you point to the back when he has his attention on you. “Meian-san, could you watch the register real quick? I’m gonna go check what’s going on in the bathroom.”
He gives you a slight nod and you make your way to where all the noise is. The bathroom door is slightly ajar and when you peek in, you see the two boys standing in front of the sink blowing bubbles with their fingers. There was soap and water everywhere. You silently thank the universe for not having you on cleaning duty today.
Not wanting to startle the children, you knock on the door before opening it all the way. You expected the boys to be terrified at getting caught, but when they make eye contact with you over the mirror, their grins widen.
“Pretty cashier lady! Look what I can do!”
The talkative twin plunged his hand in the sink and viciously started blowing bubbles everywhere after taking his hand out. The quieter of the two started running around to avoid getting hit by the bubbles, but miscalculated how slippery the floor had gotten from all the soap and water.
“AH!”
As soon as you saw the boy’s feet slip from under him, you rushed forward and caught him with your own body, saving him from potentially breaking his nose. “Are you okay?”
The young boy turned red at the close proximity and shyly nodded his head while avoiding your eyes.
The ruckus had caused a couple people to check up on what was going on and were surprised to see the state of the bathroom as well as the boy that was tightly gripping onto your shirt. The boys’ mother was also part of the group as she had realized that her sons were taking quite a long time to simply wash their hands.
Rest assured, you explained what had happened and the woman scolded her children before making them apologize for causing such a disruption. The boy you had saved from slipping kept shifting his body weight from one foot to another when a sudden idea popped into his head. He quickly ran out of his mother’s hold and slid open the front door to go outside.
Before anyone could run after him, the boy came back inside just as quickly with a small white flower in his hand. He shuffled over to stand in front of you and held out the flower. “I’m sorry.”
You thought your heart would burst at the cute gesture and knelt down to gladly accept the flower with a warm smile. “Thank you.”
All of the guys around were watching the scene with a smile of their own. Someone quietly leaned over to an unsuspecting Osamu and whispered into his ear, “You’ve got some tough competition, Myaa-san.”
“Bokuto-san?!”
With that, the mother left with her sons after grabbing their food and the day was officially over. All of the MSBY players, excluding Sakusa and Atsumu, sat down at a table together to take a quick break before getting back up to clean. Sakusa begrudgingly went to get rid of the mess in the bathroom and Atsumu was still nowhere to be seen, but no one really seemed to notice at the moment.
Even though you were out cold for a couple hours, it still felt like an hectic day.
“Looks like you just can't get away from ruining your uniform, huh.”
Turning to the side, Osamu walks up to where you are and a smirk is plastered onto his features. True to his words, your uniform was once again soaked with water, but this time, there are remnants of soap as well.
You let out a sigh. “It seems so.”
Osamu nervously looks to the side and shoves his hands into his pockets. “Do you, uh, need something to cover up?”
“Nah, it’s all good. I actually brought an extra uniform shirt just in case anything happened during the event today. Luckily, I thought ahead!” You mentally pat yourself on the back.
“Yeah...lucky.”
“I’m gonna go change in the back room now. I’ll come out to help with cleaning afterwards!” You don’t wait to hear a response and disappear into the back room for the second time today.
At the same time, the entrance slides open and Atsumu, still in his onigiri costume, strolls into the shop. There’s an empty bag of chips hanging loosely from his hands, which he throws away to the nearest trash can.
“Atsumu-san! Where have you been?” Hinata stands up from his chair to walk up to the blonde in curiosity. “And, where did you get those chips?”
“There weren’t any customers outside and I wanted a snack so I went to the nearby convenience store,” Atsumu replies.
Osamu scoffs. “You skipped out on work and went to the convenience store in that?”
“Everyone and their moms in the next 10 mile radius has seen me in this, so what’s the point of getting embarrassed over wearing this down the block?” Atsumu attempts to shrug his shoulders but the suit is too large to make it obvious. “We’re done right? I wanna get out of this thing as soon as possible. You left my shirt in the back, right Shoyo-kun?”
Atsumu began speed walking towards the back room to change and Hinata realized a second too late that his teammate had no idea that you were still inside. The younger male jumped in place and tried to stop Atsumu. “Atsumu-san, wait! Don’t-!”
Unfortunately, Atsumu’s ears didn’t register what Hinata was trying to say in time and he swung open the door. He froze completely when he saw the bare skin of your back before sliding up his gaze to lock eyes with you. You were in the middle of putting on your extra uniform but froze in shock from the sudden entry with only your arms through the shirt, leaving the top half of your body only clad in a bra.
Hinata, who was only able to grab onto his teammate’s arm a second too late, also had a clear view. To make the situation even worse, Sakusa had just finished cleaning the bathroom and had walked out at the same time of the fiasco making him the third person to see you shirtless.
All four of you stare at one another for a second before you snap out of it. A menacing aura seeps out of your figure as your expression darkens. “Close the door.”
“SHIT! SORRY!” Atsumu regains function in his limbs at your tone and slams the door shut.
Hinata covers his fiery cheeks and squeezes his eyes shut but then immediately opens them when the image of you becomes too clear in his mind. He’s muttering incoherent apologies under his breath as if you could sense his remorse through the walls. Sakusa looks down at his mop and remains silent, his own cheeks tinted pink under his face mask.
“What the fuck did you do, Atsumu?”
Atsumu flinches at the coldness of Osamu’s words from behind him. He slowly turns around and meets his brother’s gaze. Osamu was mad.
Not even a second later Osamu’s kicking around Atsumu across the floor in anger. Atsumu opted to pull his arms and legs inside the suit to avoid any injuries. Hinata and Sakusa can only watch from the side. Out of curiosity, even Bokuto joined in on spectating. If this was any other situation, one might even laugh at the somewhat comical sight.
You step out of the back room a minute later fully dressed. No one has noticed you yet, so you just make your way to where the three less problematic MSBY players were sitting. They all watch you with mixed expressions as you sit down on one of the chairs wearily.
“You just can’t seem to catch a break. You good?” Inunaki peers at you with sympathy in his eyes. Thomas lifts up a hand for you to take and gives you a comforting squeeze before letting go.
“Yeah. I’m fine, really. Can’t even say I’m surprised that nothing seems to be calm when I’m around all you volleyball players. I’ve already gotten used to it, though.” You sigh exasperatedly but you can’t stop the small upward curve of your lips as you glance behind you at the chaos.
Meian chuckles. “You know, you’re pretty good at handling their shenanigans. Even with all the work you did today, you still made time to check on everyone. I’d say you’ve got some good managing skills.”
You give Meian a grateful smile at his kind words. He then seems lost in thought for a moment before beaming at you. “Hey, we have a manager position that’s open right now. Would you consider working along with all of us?”
The suggestion caught you completely off guard. You working with MSBY? You can’t deny that the idea makes you curious.
As you open your mouth to respond, an arm is suddenly slung over your shoulders silencing you.
“Sorry, Meian-san. She’s too good of a worker to give up.” At some point, your boss had gotten behind you and eavesdropped on your conversation. He tugs your body a bit closer to his own possessively and looks at Meian straight in the eye. “She’s mine.”
You’re surprised how you haven’t ended up in the hospital with how many times your heart has gone out of control in the last 8 hours. Except this time, a blush accompanies your irregular heart rate.
To save yourself from any potential embarrassment, you shrug off Osamu and cross your arms. “Um, no. I don’t belong to anyone.”
A flash of anxiety runs across Osamu’s eyes. He worries that he might have offended you or pushed you to take Meian’s offer.
Ignoring your boss, you send a small apologetic smile to the older man.” Sorry, Meian-san. I’m pretty happy working here, and I don’t know if I can really commit to a manager position at this time. Thanks for considering me though!”
“No worries, (Surname)-san. Feel free to let us know if you ever do change your mind.” The captain nods his head in understanding and accepts the rejection coolly.
A pained groan echoes through the shop and you turn to the noise. Atsumu is still on the ground looking absolutely drained of energy while Bokuto pokes at his costume with a single metal chopstick. Hinata and Sakusa are still in the same spot from before and make no effort to help Atsumu up.
Meian claps his hands once next to you and his chair screeches against the floor as he stands. “Alright, guys! Break’s over! Our job isn’t done just yet. Let’s get to cleaning!”

Leftovers
You’re just about ready to pass out as you lay in your bed with the lights off. Despite the four hour nap you had today, you still feel drowsy and can’t wait to get some sleep. Luckily, the neighbors seem to have calmed down for the night, so sleep should come easily. As you feel your consciousness slipping from you, you’re suddenly jolted awake by the shrill ringtone of your phone.
Letting out an annoyed groan, you pick up your phone to check who would be calling you so late. However, your irritation dissipates as soon as you read Shirabu’s name on the screen. He isn’t the type of person to call for no reason, so you immediately answer with a bit of a concerned tone, “Hey, Shirabu-san! What’s up?”
“Hello, (Surname)-san. Sorry for calling you so late. My shift just ended and I came across some information you might be interested in.” His words catch you by surprise and you force your body to sit up. “I just spoke to a colleague of mine and they informed me that there’s a program you might be interested in. They’re accepting new applicants at her university.”
“What?! That’s great! Could you tell me more about it?” It’s difficult to keep your voice down with all your anticipation.
Shirabu relays all of the information that his colleague had told him and you quickly shuffle over to your desk and turn on your mini lamp to write down both the website and email needed for the application. He stays silent as you finish writing down everything. You’re about to thank your friend, but he speaks up once again. “Oh, but I think it would be good to mention that the application is due in two days.”
You let out a panicked gasp. Two days?!
“Sorry about letting you know so late. I only found out about this today.” Shirabu’s tone is uncharacteristically apologetic, so you know he’s being genuine about his words. “I wouldn’t have told you about it, if I didn’t think you were capable of finishing it on time.”
After taking a deep breath, your face breaks out into a small smile at Shirabu’s blunt display of kindness. “It’s okay. You don’t have to apologize. I really do appreciate you even letting me know about this at all. Thanks, Shirabu-san.”
Your ears pick up a car door slam, so you assume Shirabu must have gotten in his car to go home. After some shuffling, Shirabu responds back to your gratitude. “No problem. I’m going to assume that you’ll probably want to get started on your application as soon as possible, so I’ll hang up now. Good luck with everything and let me know if you have any other questions.”
Once you’ve both said your goodbyes, the line goes silent. A spark lights in your eyes and all of your previous drowsiness has disappeared. You turn on your laptop and spend the majority of your night working on the application with motivation that you haven’t had in a while.

A/N: it took everything in my soul to not write ‘Inumaki’ instead of Inunaki. Inumaki supremacy (i love me my onigiri boys).
did i write the scene with the baby twins just for the whole scandalous back room exchange. yes. yes i did.
if the bubble blowing bathroom scene reminded you of that one scene in the spongebob movie, you’re on the VIP list

RAY IN THE BATHROOM
Summary: Ray is hiding in a bathroom and has a panic attack over the fact that his only real friend and the love of his life has (supposedly) left him for Brad.
Word-Count: 2.1k
Warnings: References of suicidal thoughts, ptsd, and severe anxiety. Brad is a semi-asshole. Hop on the angst train (with fluff at the end!)
A/N: I was listening to Be More Chill because let's just say that I can heavily relate to Micheal In The Bathroom due to recent events in my life. So then again, what better way to cope then using my biggest kin, Ray Person, in a totally not self indulgent fic?? Also as for the prompt requests-i'm working on them! Sorry, school has been bad. I'm keeping a promise to myself to release at least once a a week and I'm on a gen kill rampage. Idk what else to add so enjoy!

Ray doesn’t expect himself to be hanging in the bathroom at their first year reunion. But instead of “hanging”, he’s hiding. Those emotions that never come out are now coming back to haunt him. Ray knows he can't hide behind a shit eating grin and sunglasses. He leaned up against the tub inside of the cramped room, his sunglasses tucked into the neck of his polo as tears sting his eyes.
Ray’s legs felt numb and he knows if he looks into the mirror and sees his flushed face and eyes, he won’t be able to conceal his crying. He’s not able to go back outside and would prefer to fake pee or just check his phone in the bathroom.
“C’mon brah!” Q-tip whined like a child, crossing his legs. “This hurts like a butt cheek on a stick”
“You can’t come in!” Ray yelled as he held back a sob, “The little man is going. Suck it up, buttercup.”
Q-tip had been knocking on the door for over ten minutes before giving up and choosing to pee outside. Ray let out a shaky sigh and fell onto the thin side of the bathtub, biting his lip and he batted his wet eyes with his palms.
Ray and y/n had been an unexpected trio. Partners in crime, double trouble, you went well together despite their differences. You were an educated college student and he was a whiskey tango mess who couldn’t shut his mouth for the life of it. You cried, laughed, and did everything together. Little known to y/n, Ray didn’t have a crush on her-but he was more than in love.
However, when Ray is having severe social anxiety, an event he would typically rely on y/n to help him with, his “partner in crime” falls short. Ray knows that y/n is light years better than him. Here was the smartest and most beautiful woman he had met next to a college dropout who didn’t make it past Geometry.
Now the “perfect pair” is severed, leaving one half alone in the bathroom.
Ray’s forgotten how long he’s been in the bathroom for. These types of events always felt forced, and everyone knew that. Whenever that awkwardness would arise, Ray and y/n would choose to ditch and steal a few beers and sit in the bathtub, watching an obscure eighties film in the dark, cramped room with Ray’s god awful commentary.
But even though Ray has Born American downloaded, he can’t bring himself to watch it. Now he’s laying in the bathtub, picking at grout as he softly grieves. He’s hiding in there while y/n is ignoring all of their history.
Ray first arrived at the party, making a dramatic entrance. He made sure everybody knew that he was there, especially y/n. His original plan was to wear a purple tux he had snatched from walamrt since it was ugly as fuck, and Ray knew that. But knowing that you were going to be there, Ray made an attempt with an expensive navy polo and khaki shorts, courtesy of Nate.
Upon seeing you, Ray ran over from whatever he was doing to talk to you. Whether you were OD’S or a casual jumpsuit, you looked dead drop gorgeous-and Ray never knew how to express his affections. So he pulled you into a hug and muttered a shitty joke, and you just laughed.
Over the course of the next hour, the two of you catched up about your mundane lives. It made Ray feel guilty since he knew that you were better than him in every way possible, on the road of success. Your future sounded like you would go to some fancy school and then marry a lawyer. Ray wanted to be good for you, but he didn’t know how to at all. He followed you around like a lost puppy for the rest of the party, feeling a tinge of jealousy whenever one of the guys would give you a chaste hug or when you wouldn't pay attention to him for five minutes.
Ray didn’;t know why the fuck eh was feeling so sappy. It wasn’t like the two of you were dating (even though that’s exactly what he wanted).
Ray doesn’t hate Brad, but he just hates whenever he talks to you. He sees the two of you, smiling and laughing as you catch u[. Ray knows it’s rude, but he buds in and offers to get drinks for the “three amigos”. You kindly accept and Ray goes away to get drinks. He makes sure to spit inside of Brad’s drink as a childish act of revenge.
As Ray walks down the hallway balancing the three drinks, he pauses to hide behind the door since he hear’s Brad mention his name. You and Brad had moved to the couch, sitting too close for Ray’s comfort levels. He had an arm slung over the couch, which was barely touching you, but Ray had taken it as an offense.
Standing by the doorway and leaning, he overheard Brad’s words.
“Ray’s a little shit, whiskey tango loser, sister fucking, type of man. I don’t know what you see in him,” Brad had casually said, cold and straight to the point. He truly lived up to his name.
That’s when Ray dropped the drinks and ran towards the bathroom. He didn’t hear you respond, and that was the last thing he needed to hear.
Now Ray’s sitting in the tub, no longer holding tears back, but there coming out. A sob escapes his mouth and he tries to smile, but he can’t. He gets a taste of his salty tears and tries to stop the waterworks, but they come back, bigger and faster. It’s been a while since he had a good cry-but it happened at one of the most inconvenient times. And it was over a stupid girl-who he coulnd’t deny that he was in love with.
But y/n was lightyears ahead of him. Besides, Brad was (seemingly) a better fit for her. The scenario began to play in Ray’s wild mind. The memories of “double trouble” will get erased. Their wedding will be small, paid for by the Colberts. Q-Tip will DJ, Godfather will make a speech with his horrid voice, and Ray will make a shitty joke as usual. Worst had come to the worst.
Ray hears a drunk Q-tip sing along through the door to “I wanna dance with somebody”. His feelings sink even deeper cause it makes him think; now there’s no one to make fun of drunk girls with anymore. That was y/n’s favorite hobby about these forced get-togethers.
Ray knew that at some point, he’d be forced to come out. As he chokes back the incoming tears, he waits until his face becomes dry, planning to blame it on weed or something in his eyes or the five bud lights he regrets drinking.
Knock, knock, knock, knock
Ray looks up and wipes his face, forcing a fake laugh. “Oh hell yeah, I'll be out soon.”
“Ray, it’s me.” It’s y/n’s voice, and Ray can’t believe it’s her. A part of him wants her to come in, but the other part wants him to defend himself.
“Why do you want me to come out when you can hang out with your new big strong viking? Who talks all educated and shit since you just love being around him.” Ray spits out with a few sniffles.
Based on his words and the sniffles, you can tell something is clearly wrong.
You shake your head and lightly knock again, “Please, that’s not what happened. Brad’s an idiot, and we’re just friends. “Please, come out.”
Ray got out from the tub and came close to the door, feeling your frantic breathes again the door. “My biggest mistake was showing up. I wished I stayed up watching cable porn, or I offered myself. Besides, he’s better for you. Just go away.”
Hearing him say such things made you worry even more, afraid that he could do something to himself that he’d regret.
“Ray, open the damn door. Don’t say dumb shit.” You pleaded, frantically twisting the door knob. The worry was evident in your voice.
“No, fuck you! Fuck this whole place. You’re smart; just leave me alone.” Ray banged against the door as tears came down his face. He immediately regretted his choice of words, knowing that they would hurt you. He turned away to return to the bathtub, only to stop when he heard you now sniffling.
Mega fuck.
Ray reluctantly walks back to the door and opens it, to see your face, all red and wet like this. Both of you stood there, disheveled, tears both running down your face.
Not a single word was spoken between the two of you as you ran into his arms, pulling him close as you cried into his chest. Ray used his foot to slam the door shut and then proceeded to pull you into a bearhug, stroking the back of your head as he comforted you through your sobs.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” He repeated as his tears stained your shoulder as well, “I didn’t-fuck. I’m such a retar-” He froze, knowing that you hated that word. “Idiot. I just-fuck. Don’t cry. You’ll ruin all the stuff on your face-”, Ray said as he tilted your face up and started to wipe your tears.
“Makeup. ‘S fine, I’m not wearing much. I just didn’t wanna get mistaken for a middle schooler again.”
Ray and you both let out a chuckle in the midst of your shared crying session. He’s still wiping the tears from your face as you rest your arms on his waist.
“First time we met, y’know. Godfather thought you had a dick for a long time.” Ray added, which earned another laugh from you.
You shook your head, “Remember when Trombley found out I was a girl?”
“Looked like he was about to shit himself-he wouldn’t leave you alone.”
“Ugh, ‘s a nightmare.” The two of you filled the void with the awakened laughter you shared. Ray’s tiny hands moved to your chin, directing it slightly up.
“I still think you’re pretty hot either way, angel.” Ray confessed. The two of you looked at each other for a minute, seeing the love and pupils widen in both of your eyes. Standing on your toes, you and Ray’s lips gently pecked at each other. You could taste the bud light on his lips as Ray’s lips overpowered yours, gently cupping and sucking passionately.
“Fuck,” Ray breathed through the kiss as your foreheads touched, “I love you.”
“Shit, I’ve been waiting for you to say that,” You chuckled as your finger’s played with Ray’s dark hair. It’s gotten longer, and it’s at a length where he can awkwardly style it, but since Ray is Ray-it’s a mess, “I love you too. I’m sorry about Brad, you know how he is.”
“I just thought you and him were having a moment. I just started overthinking it since I thought you didn't wanna be around me. Which is chill, I was vibing,” Ray attempted to joke, which was a way to cope with his pain.
You shake your head and hold his face to reassure him. Ray looks down at you in awe, which makes a smile curve on your lips.
“Brad wasn’t touching me, he just was stretched out on the couch. Ray, don’t say that. You were in the bathroom for over an hour. I knew that you were ethier upset or having explosive diarrhea from Nate’s vegan casserole-or both.”
“That shit was beyond nasty. I bet he got all the ingredients at Trader joes and sold his soul just to buy it.” Ray quickly quipped.
“Jesus, don’t make me vomit.” You huffed as you looked at the bathtub, “Now are you gonna come out now without beating up someone?”
“Yes babycakes, as long as you do one thing.”
Cringing, you force a smile. It’s not because you don’t love him, but sometimes what comes out of his mouth can be questionable. “Yes Ray?”
He grabs your hand, which fits right into his. “Gotta show the homies who’s the alpha around here.”
You don’t mind holding Ray’s hand. You like the tight squeezes and the feel of his soft skin. As the two of you walk out of the bathroom back into the life of the party with the smell of barbeque and the august heat in the air.
“Oh god Ray, shut up.”
Ray simply responds with a goosey laugh.

"m..mom!!" y/n's scream echoed throughout the house, startling nanako who was putting on her shoes
"wha- y/n?! what's wrong?!" nanako shrieked in panic as she sprinted towards her daughter's room. nanako merely sweat dropped as she was met with y/n frantically squeezing into her clothes, all while brushing her hair as well
"why didnt you wake me?!" she exclaimed with teary eyes "im late!!"
"sweetie, i did!" nanako said with a nervous laugh "i called for you and you replied but you didn't come down so i thought you were getting ready.."
y/n paled and grunted as she recalled the late night up until the early morning's events.
╭─━━━━━━━━━━━━─╮
"i should call reki.." she muttered to herself "ah, but what if he's busy? or asleep?"
suddenly, the ringing of her phone startled her, causing her to jump in fright. she cautiously approached the device and flipped it over to check the caller ID.
"its reki!" she gasped in delight as she giddily plopped on her bed and answered the call "hey reki!" she greeted with a smile, although he couldn't see it.
"hey y/n! i was calling to check up on you!" reki replied "how have you been? is the school nice?"
"im good! and the school is.. okay.. though, ours was more fun" she said. "what about you? are you at S-"
"IS THAT MY PRECIOUS Y/N?! give me that phone, you brat!"  "hey! that's mine-"
she blinked in confusion and gulped, patiently waiting for the commotion on the other line to settle. "um who is this?" she asked in a wary tone as she listened to the person's heavy breathing
"my eve.."
she shrieked and shook as she felt the chills travelling from her head to toe. she threw the phone on the bed and cautiously backed away. "no way, it's adam" she shuddered ".. creepy.."
later on, reki ended up retrieving the phone, and they had a never ending conversation.
they were forced to hang up by shadow, seeing as they had been talking each other's ears off up until sunrise.
"y/n its time for school!"  nanako called out from downstairs.
y/n sighed and sluggishly peeled her eyes open. "y-yeah!" she replied "im just gonna.." she trailed off
and in a blink of an eye, she had fallen asleep.
╰─━━━━━━━━━━━━─╯
"i dozed off" she groaned and repeatedly slapped her face
"sorry mom, you don't have to drive me. i'll skate on my way" she said with a sigh as she hastily grabbed her bag and school tie
"are you sure, sweetheart?" nanako asked worriedly "you might as well take the bus if you're already late.."
"no i'll be fine." she dismissed "bye mom!"
nanako watched her sprint out of the house, only for the bluenette to panic and sprint back in. "i forgot my skateboard!" she exclaimed
"geez.." nanako chuckled "stay safe, okay!" she yelled out the window as she watched her daughter skate away
"i will!— ouch!" y/n shrieked out as she hit a huge rock and fell on the ground. "what is with her luck today..?" nanako sweat dropped as she continued to wave her goodbye.
"its my second day and im late.." y/n gritted her teeth as she sighed in annoyance. "though its fine.. i got to talk to reki, after all.." she smiled
on her way to school, right at the corner of her eyes, she caught a glimpse of the same brunette from yesterday. "oikawa-san..?" she muttered in confusion
it seems he was facing the same dilemma as her. the boy was hastily putting on his shoes, and he didn't even have the time to tie it, as he sprinted out of his house.
"stupid iwa-chan! he didn't pick me up! he didn't even wake me!" oikawa exclaimed with a groan
y/n shook her head and simply let him be. instead, she focused on her goal, which was to arrive before the bell rings.
"ah shit. six more minutes til the bell.." she heard oikawa grumble. she raised a brow in confusion, curious as to why his voice seems to grow louder and louder, as if he was nearing her.
"and my phones about to die- ah!" oikawa yelped in surprise as he collided with what seems like a person's back.
"ah sorry!" she shrieked out as she tried to balance herself. she looked up to see his phone about to fall on the ground, which would undoubtedly result in a huge crack. in an instant, she kicked her board around and leaned back to reach for the device before it could make impact with the ground.
"sorry! um- i should've avoided you.." y/n muttered sheepishly as she made her way towards him.
"oh.. yeah its fine.." oikawa mumbled back as he stared up at her with widened eyes. "here's your phone." she said as she placed the phone in his hands with a wary expression.
she was quite worried that he'd kick her out of the team for bumping into him and almost breaking his phone, more so, making him even more late. "..." she stood there for a second longer, awkwardly shuffling on her feet and fiddling with her board in her hands, simply waiting for him to say something.
"i'll see you in school, oikawa-san." she said with a curt nod
with that, she hopped on her board and hastily made her exit.
oikawa watched with a smile of amusement as she barely missed a street bump and almost lost her balance. "so it was her.." he mumbled with a smirk as he looked back to eye the house where their new neighbors, which he now knew was y/n, moved in.
"i'll have to pay her a visit sometime." he chuckled. he was then pulled back out of his trance by his ringtone, which was playing obnoxiously loud.
"hello?" he spoke into the phone. on the other line, he could hear iwaizumi's aggravated huffs, followed by a silent yell saying;
"dumbass, you're late! where the hell are you?!" iwaizumi whisper shouted. oikawa figured he was probably trying to hide his phone from the teachers.
"huh? late?" he looked at the time on his phone and paled.
"OH CRAP, I'M LATE!"
"what happened to you this morning?" rika asked her with a hum of confusion "i stayed up late to talk to reki.. i guess i forgot to mind the time." y/n answered with a sigh
"hey, whyd oikawa-senpai come in late today too?" "yeah, he arrived just minutes after the new girl." "maybe it's a coincidence"
Tumblr media
y/n overheard their mumbling though she paid them no mind. "is oikawa-san really that popular?" she asked rika
"hmm? oh yeah. girls love him! he's really good at volleyball so i guess i get why he's famous." rika explained "though it's mostly because of his looks."
"oh.." y/n hummed in understanding. "what about you then?"
"what about me?" rika asked. "do you like him too?" y/n asked. rika stared at her blankly, letting silence engulf them, making y/n squirm in slight awkwardness.
suddenly, she laughed and playfully slapped y/n in the shoulder. "hahah no way!" rika exclaimed "i don't have eyes for anyone except my yuuta!" she said with a dreamy sigh
"yuuta..?" y/n muttered in confusion "is that your partner..?"
"yup! hes my boyfriend! he's not popular like oikawa but.. he's the best!" rika exclaimed with a huge grin. "i see.." y/n nodded with a smile. "i wonder what it's like to have a boyfriend."
"oh~" rika grinned mischievously "curious, are you? ~" she cooed "i.. i guess so.." y/n mumbled in embarrassment as she fiddled with her hair with a huff
"heh. don't worry! i'll find you a great boyfriend! my yuuta knows a guy named inumaki! you'll definitely get along!" rika cheered "i'll set you up!"
"no!" y/n quickly declined
".. why not?" rika frowned in confusion. "inumaki's nice i swear!"
"no.. its just that.." y/n chuckled sheepishly "i promised reki i won't find a partner while we're apart" she said. "wow.. you're really loyal to this reki guy." rika hummed "but you're not together right?" she asked
"ah.. no.." y/n answered with a pained smile
"i can sense i shouldn't have asked that." rika sweat dropped. "whatever. can i see a picture?" she asked
"of reki? sure! i have him as my lockscreen!" y/n beamed as she shoved her phone onto rika's face
"wow, he's actually on your lockscreen.." rika sweat dropped.
"ooh~ who's this~" a new voice cooed along.
rika and y/n turned around to face oikawa, who was smiling down at them, and iwaizumi who gave them a small nod. ".. nobody.." y/n replied as she lowered her phone away from their line of sight.
"eh? but you seemed so excited to be talking about a 'nobody'" oikawa mused as he dragged a random chair closer to her desk and perched himself on it. "hey~ you really got me in trouble this morning y/n-chan~" oikawa cooed playfully
she flinched and sent him a wary glance. "sorry about that.." she said "i didnt mean to.." she eyed him nervously as he propped his arms in her desk and leaned in closer to her.
"dont worry y/n-chan! whyre you so fidgety around me?" oikawa asked with a laugh
"ah its just that.." y/n trailed off "you're not gonna kick me off the team right ?" she asked
oikawa blinked in surprise and shook his head. "ofcourse not! it's our first time having a manager, i wouldn't wanna mess that up" he said. y/n sighed in relief and slumped back on her chair.
"stop bothering her shittykawa" iwaizumi huffed from beside them. "even im getting annoyed by it" he said. "eh? you're so mean iwa-chan!" oikawa chuckled "im just trying to be friends"
"hey hey, isn't that oikawa-senpai?" "he's talking to the new girl?" "i heard she's their new manager!" "geez. i thought she wasn't a threat."
y/n briefly glanced at the girls and pursed her lips in distaste. it was only her second day here and yet she's already on many people's bad side. and it wasn't even her fault!
she sighed and averted her attention to her phone, scrolling through twitter to keep up with S and her friends. "huh..?" she mumbled in confusion as she scrolled through the countless tweets raging about 'SNOW'
"they know about me leaving?" she hummed and shrugged it off. she didn't seem to see the problem with it. though she loved skating with her friends at S, it wasn't like it'd go to ruins if she left.
right now, her more prominent problem was oikawa tooru. or more specifically his herds of fangirls.
"im gonna go to the gym." she excused herself as she grabbed her bag and skateboard. "wait! i'll come with!" oikawa said with a smile as he hastily grabbed his belongings and rushed to her side
"oh. you don't have to" she said with furrowed brows as she tried to discreetly shuffle away from him. "oh please. what kind of captain would i be if i don't accompany our dear manager-chan?" oikawa teased as he slung his bag over his shoulder
"let's go, y/n-chan~" oikawa cooed, making her sigh.
"right." she replied curtly with a nod.
"so cold! we're gonna be teammates soon so you gotta warm up to me, yaknow?" oikawa chuckled
"i see. i'll try my best, oikawa-san" she said with a faint smile
oikawa grinned and stuffed his hands into his pockets. "i can't wait when we become best friends~"
"ah. i already have a best friend. sorry." she turned him down with a deadpanned expression.
oikawa sweat dropped and chuckled. "was i going a bit too fast?" he said. "dont worry, i'll aim for the boyfriend position instead" he cooed
"ah. i have reserved that position for someone else as well. sorry."
"geez."
"okay, so this is the list of the players' positions." coach nobuteru said as he handed her the paper. "right!" y/n replied with a nervous gulp as she read through the list.
Tumblr media
"i see." nobuteru laughed and patted her on the back. "no worries, i'll explain it to you as the practice progresses."
".. you know what the positions mean right?" nobuteru asked with an amused chuckle. "no sir.." she replied with a glum sigh "i was gonna look it up last night but.. some important matters came up" she said
"first we have oikawa. he's the captain so i think it's best we discuss him first" he said. "he's our setter and 'service ace'" he said. "he has a natural talent as a setter and his powerful serves are something the opponents are all very wary of."
as coach nobuteru explained, her eyes followed oikawa as he dribbled a ball and prepared to do a jump serve. "i see.. oikawa-san is-" she got cut off as oikawa jumped and hit the ball with his hand, causing a loud slapping noise to ring across the gym
oikawa looked over to her with a smug smirk, awaiting her words of praise
".. oikawa-san is really scary.." she finished with a shudder as she looked at the other side of the court which the ball had hit
oikawa's face dropped at the remark and groaned. "i was aiming for something like 'talented' or 'cool' " he said "instead i got called scary" he sulked, to which matsukawa laughed in response and patted his back
"better luck next time" matsukawa laughed
"he's scarily precise and clean with his serves.. if i was to receive that i would probably break my arms." y/n said to coach nobuteru with a chuckle "it's quite impressive, hm?" nobuteru hummed
"yeah! so awesome!" she cheered as she eagerly wrote down the new found information on her notepad
from the opposite side of the court, oikawa, along with maki and mattsun listened in on their conversation with varying reactions.
oikawa was quite overjoyed and smug, seeing as he was quietly bragging to them about the compliment
all while the duo simply rolled their eyes and playfully punched the brunette
"i wonder if he could teach me that." she thought out loud as she picked up a ball and poked at it with her fingers
as quick as he could be, he slithered towards her with a charming smile, more than ready to woo her off her feet. "well, why don't you find out, yourself?" he cooed with a laugh
"though, i'll certainly be more than happy to teach you" he said with a smile
y/n looked at him with a brow irked in confusion. she simply smiled back sheepishly as he continued to practically ooze stars and sparkles. his larger hands caressed hers as he too went to grab the ball, though he didn't let go and simply placed it there.
"oh.. then please teach me how to serve, oikawa-san!" she beamed with a sweet smile
"..." oikawa looked at her with slightly widened eyes and discreetly cleared his throat to calm his nerves. "a-ah, of course!" he stammered out with a shaky grin
"im always happy to help out our dear manager-chan" oikawa cooed teasingly as he patted her shoulder with a smile "lets meet after practice if you want" he suggested, to which she responded with an eager nod.
"alright then" he cleared his throat "i'll meet ya after practice, okay~" he cooed at her
"okay!" she replied with a smile as she waved him goodbye, watching him run off to the court.
"ah geez!" oikawa groaned out as he hid and crouched behind a random tarp. he covered his warm and reddened cheeks as he mumbled to himself while iwaizumi peers down at him with a sneer.
"yo, you're really serious about that crush of yours?" iwaizumi asked with a chuckle
"of course i am! im many many things but im not a liar, you know" oikawa huffed as he slapped iwaizumi's leg. "yes you fucking are" iwaizumi scoffed and kicked him back "you're not a goddamn saint, shittykawa" he rolled his eyes
"you better not play y/n. she's one of the only girls who aren't obsessed with you in this school." iwaizumi said with a huff "i would hate not having her around here anymore if that happens." he said
"okay, maybe im just a teeny tiny bit unsure of this crush of mine, but still!" oikawa huffed "i'll update you when i make my mind up!" he said as he sent iwaizumi a cheeky wink
"man, you really are a shitty person." iwaizumi sighed
"that was.. not bad for a tenth attempt. not bad at all." oikawa said with a pained smile as he patted her head comfortingly. "oikawa-san.." she whimpered "you're such a liar!" she whined out
Tumblr media
"i thought this was supposed to be easy! you made it look so easy.." she sulked
she dusted her pants and picked her board up from the ground. "though i think i'd rather stick to skating after that.." she said
"hey hey, things like this need practice. how'd you think i got better over the years?" he mused. "i guess you're right." she sighed and plucked herself off the ground
oikawa laughed and leaned against the wall, watching her skate around with a smile on his lips. "giving up already?" he cooed tauntingly "wow.. i thought you'd have more resolve than that, y/n-chan~"
"its not that i lack resolve, oikawa-san" she replied "i just think skating is more fun, that's all" she said as she locked eyes with him and sent him a smile
"its no fun if i can't play alongside you guys.. so i think i'd rather stick to this, where i can skate with my friends" she said "i mean, i can have fun with skateboarding wherever i am.. i just need a good ramp to boost myself on.."
she eyed the pieces of frail wood stacked against a bench and grinned. "like that" she said as she pointed to it.
oikawa spluttered and looked at her with widened eyes. "hey hey wait- don't skate on that thing, you'll fall!" he exclaimed
y/n paid him no mind and skated towards the makeshift ramp in a fast pace. oikawa watched in distress as she propels herself off the ramp and did a flip mid-air, holding onto her board as she waits for herself to get back on the ground.
(wtf i suck at describing tricks, idek what they're called sorry lmfao 😭)
"hey! that's dangerous.." oikawa's voice gradually softened as he now focused on her.
his chocolate brown orbs trained themselves on her as he watched the lampposts illuminate her from behind, outlining her form and accentuating the beautiful soft blue hue of her hair.
oikawa gulped as a pinkish hue sprawled itself on his cheeks. his eyes glimmered with admiration as he watched her land gracefully on the ground.
"what-what was that..?" he squeaked out
"im not sure" she answered. "it was just a simple trick, oikawa-san."
"why?" y/n cocked her head to the side and sent him a curious glance, to which he returned with a nervous smile.
"a-ah, nothing!" oikawa laughed "i've never seen anything like it!" he said "you're really fucking cool, y/n-chan!" oikawa said with a grin as he ran towards her, holding his belongings.
"you're very cool too, oikawa-san" she returned the compliment with a small smile of gratitude
"hold on, i gotta call iwa-chan. i have something important to say" he said as he pulled out his phone and showed her iwaizumi's contact
"oh.. okay..?" she replied with a sheepish smile as she watched him scurry over to the other side of the park with a heavy blush on his face
"iwa-chan! i-i have some news!" oikawa shrieked out as he shakily gripped his phone.
"what the hell are you talking about?" iwaizumi huffed out from the other line
"well.. yknow when i said i'd update you when i make my mind up about liking y/n?" oikawa mused with a nervous chuckle
"yeah..?"
"well, i think i'm positive i like her!"
"oh. okay." iwaizumi sighed "i'll support you i guess. but one thing.."
"yeah?" oikawa hummed in confusion.
"you're with her right now right?" "yeah why?"
"dont you think she might have heard you by now given that you've been screaming to the phone since the start of the call?" iwaizumi deadpanned
oikawa paled and slowly looked behind him, only to sigh in relief as he saw y/n mindlessly dribbling the ball as she sat on her board. "phew, she didn't hear me" he let out a sigh of relief.
"oikawa-san?" y/n called out "um.. are you done talking? can we go home now?" she asked
"ah yeah!" oikawa exclaimed "you didn't hear anything right?" he asked nervously
"oh well.. no, not at all." she said with an awkward smile as she gave him a thumbs up.
"you're totally lying!" he shrieked in horror "im sorry! i didnt mean to!" she shrieked back. "sorry oikawa-san" she sulked gloomily as she bowed her head. "but all i heard was when you said 'im positive i like her' i swear!"
oikawa chuckled and let out a sigh of relief. he patted her back and smiled "hey, it's fine. no need to worry" he said
"but who do you like, oikawa-san? you're every popular so im kinda curious." she said
"i can help you confess!" she suggested "i heard that japanese people confess by giving a love letter under a cherry blossom tree."
"ah. no need for that" oikawa meekly chuckled
"i tried that once. it was a fail since there wasn't any cherry blossoms around. and i didn't actually know how to write in japanese.." she sweat dropped
"oh so you like someone?" oikawa asked with a smile
"yeah.. i-i guess you could say that.." she stammered out as she looked down in embarrassment and rolled her board back and forth. "hmm. okay.." oikawa hummed out
she glanced up at him, confused as to why he wasn't as playful as he normally was. though she simply shrugged it off as tiredness and followed him as he walked off.
"... damn. double homicide." iwaizumi's voice suddenly emitted from oikawa's phone.
"i- what the hell-" oikawa let out a groan as he plucked his phone from his pocket
"is that iwaizumi?" she sweat dropped
"dont mind him let's go home" oikawa said with a playful eye roll as he ended the call "i'll pick you up tomorrow, okay?" oikawa cooed as he watched her skate slowly to match his walking pace.
"oh.. why?" she asked with furrowed brows
"friends walk to school together, right?" oikawa mused
she blinked up at him and chuckled as a smile formed on her lips. "i guess you're right" she said
sorry for the spelling/grammar mistakes if there are any :<

*Y/N POV*
You’ve met Jared and Jensen a few years ago when you went to a Con after moving into the States. Little did you know, a year later you were going to get cast as a special guest on the show. The guys remembered you from the Con and without even realizing it, they became your best friends.
The guys were always checking on you, if you were fine, if you were comfortable in the place you were staying, they basically adopted you as their kid. Being far away from home and having no family around can be scary. You really appreciated the way they care about you, they were the protective big brothers you needed. You could count on them whenever you needed them. Even Gen and Danneel treated you as their child as well. From being alone and on your own, you ended up with two amazing friends and two sets of family.
After your participation in the show, you tried to see the guys and their families at least twice a month, if your schedules allowed it, but between their filming schedule and your school schedule sometimes it was impossible.
Unfortunately, this year was very difficult for everyone around you, especially your family. With a worldwide pandemic, it was almost impossible for neither them nor you to travel, mostly because your family lived at the end of the world and the tickets were highly expensive and now with all of this, getting into the country was the worst.
Your birthday was coming, and with this, you were going to spend it without your family. It was going to be the first time since you moved in and it broke your heart. Sure, you had your best friends and their families, but you wanted your family as well. Jared and Jensen were worried about you because were avoiding them. They were aware that your birthday was coming and clearly you weren’t in the mood of celebrating it. When the pandemic began, eight months ago, you stayed with Gen and the kids, and a few weeks later you moved with Daneel and her kids, but a few weeks prior to Jared and Jensen coming back from Vancouver, you moved into your apartment alone. All of them knew you pretty well, and they figured out that you isolated yourself because you were sad because your family couldn’t travel to see you. It broke their heart knowing that, and they wanted to do something about it.
———
*Jensen’s POV*
You called Jared through FaceTime. It worried about what was going on with Y/N. She is your best friend and you weren’t able to figure out what was going on in her mind.
-We have to do something with Y/N — Jensen said -Like what? — Jared asked -I don’t know man, something. She stayed 4 days with Daneel and left before I arrived — Jensen commented -Gen told me something similar. I think that the pandemic is affecting her — Jared mentioned -Yeah. I mean, it affected everyone in different ways, but I think that with her is something else — Jensen said -What do you think it is? — Jared inquired -Her birthday is coming and her family is not able to come due to the pandemic — Jensen told Jared -And what do you think we should do? We could throw a party for her, right? — Jared asked -Let’s talk with the girls and figure this out — Jensen said to Jared
Jared and Jensen went to talk with their wives and see what we could come up with. It broke his heart knowing how alone you felt even if Jared and you were your best friends and your other family. Both families came up with a plan. They wanted to make you feel loved and at home.
———
*Y/N’s POV*
You had spent the past few weeks crying and blaming yourself for not buying tickets for your family early in the year. You checked your phone for the first time in days and you had several missed calls from Jared and Jensen, some from your parents, and thousands of text messages from all of them as well. It made you feel even worse, everyone was worried about you and you weren’t having the strength to tell them what was going on.
You were about to call Jensen when you heard a knock on your door. You got up from the couch and went to the door to look through the peephole. It was Jensen. You opened the door and went to the couch -Yes, I know. I should’ve answered. I’m sorry -Hello to you too, sweetheart. I’m glad to see you’re fine — Jensen said closing the door -What do you want? -I was checking on you. Seeing you were fine. If… -Well, now you know I’m fine. You are free to go — you interrupted him -Ok. Let's go -What? -Come spend the rest of the week with us. Please — he begged You just nodded and hugged him. You were tired of being alone. Jensen helped you to pack your stuff, making sure you had enough clothes to stay with him more time than intended. -Why don’t you look for something special? Dani is planning to make a fancy dinner for the kids in a few days — Jensen asked you -Alright — you said not too happy
Once you and Jensen finished packing, he helped you to put your bags in the trunk of the car. You two got in the car and started the trip to Jensen’s house. He had a questioning look and you were getting annoyed.
-What? Spilled it -Nothing, sweetheart. It's just I was expecting to see you at home when I got back from Vancouver, and you weren't there -I didn't want to bother. Besides, I needed to be alone — you admitted -I’m sorry you felt that way. But I wanted to spend some time with you — Jensen said -It’s ok. I’ve just felt like that for quite some time, and I thought that I needed some time alone, that’s why I left before you arrived. I didn’t want to worry — you explained defeated -I get it, believe me. But you should’ve stayed and maybe I could’ve had helped you, ya know. That’s what friends are for — he said and grabbed your hand. You just gave him a small smile. The rest of the trip went on a comfortable silence. You noticed that every once in a while, Jensen looked at you. -I’m fine Jay — you said — Thank you — you smiled Sometime later, Jensen and you arrived at his house.  -Home sweet home, sweetheart. Let’s get your bags and head inside — Jensen said
Jensen grabbed your bags with one hand and with the other he hugged you. Once inside the house, Jensen helped you to set your stuff in the guest room. -I’ll let you finish here. I’ll be downstairs -Uhm… Jay -Is everything alright? — He asked you concerned -Where are Dani and the kids? I was expecting her to be here -She went to the Padalecki’s. She wanted you to settle down calmly without the kids around you.  -Oh, ok -I’ll let you finish. Whatever you need, just tell me, okay? — You just nodded When Jensen was about to close the door you called him -Jay -Hm? -Thank you. I really appreciate it -Anytime kid — he smiled sadly. And with that, he left you alone in the room.
That night, Jared came and stayed with you saying that Dani and the kids were going to spend the night there because JJ and Thomas didn’t want to stop playing. It was nice to spend some time with your best friends but in the end, you would’ve stayed in your room alone.  The days went by and you were closing yourself more and more. Your birthday was a day away and you were without your family. You promised yourself to not contact them because if you did it, it was going to be a lot worse.
The night before your birthday, Dani came to your room and knock softly -Y/N/N, sweetie? — she called -Yes? -Can you be ready in 10? JJ wants to have a fancy tea party — she said -This late? — you asked surprised -Yeah, she said that someone important was coming — Dani explained giggling -Okay. I’ll do my best to impress this person — you joked Dani left you alone in your room again. You weren’t in the mood for playing or anything. You just wanted to go to sleep and ignore the world. Instinctively, you reached for your phone to check the hour and you remembered that you had turned it off. In your hometown, it was already your birthday and you didn’t want to talk to anyone. You were going to be scolded by your parents for doing that, but it was the best you could do to avoid any more suffering.
Ten minutes later, Jensen was knocking on your door -Sweetheart, are you ready? JJ is impatient and she wants us now — Jensen said entering your room -Give me a minute and I’ll be out — you said from the bathroom You weren’t going to disappoint JJ, you just needed some time to get yourself together. Your heart clenched at the thought of pretending to have fun when you were this upset. A minute later you were out -Sorry — you apologized -Everything fine? — Jensen asked seeing your eyes a little puffy -Yeah. With all this happening it’s been a while since I wore makeup and I just kind of touched my eye and it stung a lot -That sound dangerous — Jensen joked -Tell me about it -You look gorgeous, by the way — Jensen complimented you and you got shy — Let’s get going You didn’t know why, but you were nervous. All of it was a mystery for you, Daneel had told you that JJ wanted a fancy tea party and Jensen told you that Dani wanted to make something special for the kids. You were really confused.
When you were about to enter the living room, Jensen sensed you were somewhat nervous and gave you a reassuring smile while squeezing your hand. Something deep inside of you knew what was about to happen, even though you’ve never told them when exactly was your birthday. When you stepped inside the living room, JJ came running and hugged you -Are we on time? — you asked her returning the hug -Yes! Let’s go to the table — she said and drugged you inside the living room JJ kept you distracted that you hadn’t realized Jensen and Dani were gone and it was just you and the kids. You kept glancing to the kitchen to make sure they were there without ignoring JJ and all her rambling. She definitely was having fun with you.
Sometime later, JJ left you saying she needed to go to the bathroom leaving you in the living room, alone with her toys. You got up to sit on the couch when Dani entered the living room -How did you manage to get alone? -Nature called — you smiled -How are you feeling? I’ve seen you weren’t in the greatest mood -Honestly? Not great. I miss my family a lot. It’s been a long time since I hugged my mom — you admitted -How long since the last time you visit? -Almost two years. The last time I went, I stayed less than a week. I had to get back to work and they didn’t like it, so we kind of had a fight. I never had the chance to forgive them in person — you said cleaning a fallen tear -They’d probably understood. You shouldn’t worry about it -I was planning on staying for a few months, but I guess it wasn’t the time to do it — you mentioned -I can’t imagine how hard can it can be — Dani said squeezing your hand You hadn’t realized but you had started to cry, it was the first time in months that you finally broke. You were in so much pain and here you were, crying in front of one of your best friends. Dani came closer to you and hugged you, letting you cry on her shoulder. It warmed your heart knowing you could trust her and shared these things.
You felt the couch dipped on the other side from you. You knew it was Jensen, you could recognize his scent everywhere. -Hey, it’s ok — he said caressing your back When you looked at him, he had the sweetest smile on his face -Happy birthday sweetheart — he said In front of you, there was a cake with lit candles, Jared and Gen were with the kids, JJ and the twins were on the other side of the table, and there was a huge sign on the wall with balloons -What’s all of this? — you said crying -We knew that your birthday was coming and neither you nor your family was able to travel and you were upset about it — Jensen explained -So we talked with the girls, and came with this idea to celebrate your birthday — Dani explained -And to remind you that we are your family too — Jared said -And you can count on us, whenever you need — Gen commented You were a mess, you couldn’t believe it. Your best friends, your second family, was the greatest thing that could happen to you after moving in. -Thank you so much, guys. You don’t even know how much this means for me. I love you so much — you admitted When the pandemic started, you thought you were going to spend your birthday alone, instead, you were with your second family. It was the best birthday gift ever.

Aizawa, We Agreed No More Cats: Chapter 8
7:00 AM
Existence Is A Prison
gay salt: Tokoyami, I know it's the sports festival and all today, but you didn't need to bring everyone sandos and sports drinks again.
foil-mecha: Thing is, I didn't.
farmer toshi: No, no, because my whole class has sandos and sports drinks on their desks too. And I heard the other Gen Ed classes causing a ruckus over them too. Seems like someone put sando throughout the whole school.
feral cat dad: That would be me. I'm not letting any of you kids go without eating during a major sports event where you'll likely get injured and your bodies need fuel to fight and I won't let you not eat.
feral cat dad: My old Gen Ed teacher, Miss Rin, began this tradition of giving out sandos and water at the gate to students on the day of the Sports Festival. Nezu sanctioned of course, since he refused to allow her to pay for it herself. And now it's carried on through me since she passed on a few years ago.
ranch flavored jello: That's actually really sweet, Dad.
feral cat dad: If you tell anyone it was me who put them out, I'll make you clean the roof level.
ranch flavored jello: We have a roof level?
feral cat dad: You guys didn't know the dorms have roof access?
ranch flavored jello: Well, now we do. Where even are the stairs to it?
feral cat dad: Literally next to my room, I don't know how you haven't found them.
deku deck-you: It's the door next to his room, Toru. Even I found it. You've been here five more days than me.
ranch flavored jello: I THOUGHT THAT WAS A BROOM CLOSET!
feral cat dad: Oh my gods, these kids will be the end of me.
8:30 AM
Existence Is A Prison
feral cat dad: God help me being alone with this idiot.
feral cat dad: I'm using this chat for extra commentary because there are things I can't say on live national television commentary so they'll all be said here.
feral cat dad: Oh god, Katsuki, no. Don't slander our name.
feral cat dad: Please.
feral cat dad: GOD DAMMIT
feral cat dad: Obstacle Course? Fuck.
feral cat dad: Most proud of my son managing to evade Todoroki's ice despite never dealing with it before.
feral cat dad: Also, Todoroki, who hurt you as a child? That was purposeful so nobody could catch up!
feral cat dad: Get it, Pikachu.
feral cat dad: I'm proud of my gremlin children.
feral cat dad: I'm not paid enough to make commentary on this obstacle.
feral cat dad: Except for my son. I care about my ground-bound son getting across the pit to Tartarus shit.
feral cat dad: Gods, mines. I remember those landmines. I hate those things. They almost made me temporarily blind during my second year Sports Festival.
feral cat dad: What the FUCK Midoriya!?
8:45 AM
Existence Is A Prison
feral cat dad: Alright you're probably in the break room for the twenty five minute break by now. Katsuki, what's wrong with your arms? You were holding them.
deku deck-you: Just a lot of work. Overworking. I guess it can't be helped, this is why I have so much wrist support in my hero costume, to help keep my hands from feeling cramped from the explosions.
feral cat dad: Come up to the box, I'll shut old parakeet up if he tries to speak.
deku deck-you: Why?
feral cat dad: I have some ibuprofen, come take two, it should help the pain at least.
deku deck-you: Thank you.
9:00 AM
Existence Is A Prison
feral cat dad: Am I allowed to ask why Vlad King is taking care of a small child when he, in fact, doesn't have children?
feral cat dad: Just realized I won't get an answer because you all made it to the next round. I'm so proud but dammit, now I'm curious.
9:20 AM
Existence Is A Prison
feral cat dad: I...What?
feral cad dad; I hate the cavalry battle, that was difficult to keep track of. I don't know how Hizashi does it.
schrodinger better run: Obviously, the answer is very carefully.
feral cat dad: I'm sorry you didn't make it through, Pony. I have candy if you want some.
schrodinger better run: Thank you! I'll stop by and grab it on my way to lunch.
feral cat dad: If you're going to meet back up with your class, text me why there's a child.
schrodinger better run: There's a child?
feral cat dad: smallchildinvladkingsarms.jpg
schrodinger better run: He looks a lot like Tokage.
9:30 AM
Existence Is A Prison
ranch flavored jello: Mr. Aizawa, this is Mina, Toru's busy crying so she asked me to ask you. Mineta and Kaminari are telling us 1a girls that you instructed we wear the cheerleader uniforms for the afternoon. What should we tell them?
feral cat dad: Tell them they have three weeks of detention each to look forward to and don't wear those fucking uniforms.
schrodinger better run: Okay, so apparently the kid's here because Tokage brought him in? I still don't have a full explanation, but his name is Mitsu and he's 2 years old.
feral cat dad: Okay. So Tokage brought her little brother or something?
nat20: I'm not so sure about that. He just called her Mama.
feral cat dad: So Tokage has a son?
nat20: It seems like it.
feral cat dad: Oh, Nezu won't be happy about this. He wanted any young parents to report to him after the opening ceremony and alert him if they had any children so they would stay in the dorms.
nat20: To be fair, it would seem Tokage would be the only one out of all the first year classes, so it might have been too much pressure to fit in. Or she may even just has help enough at home that she didn't feel she needed to tell anyone.
feral cat dad: He'll still be mad. Believe me, he'll at least force her to accept a UA fund card so she doesn't need to work to support the baby.
saviour: We got to talking and, apparently, she gives him to a daycare while she's at school and she picks him up when she leaves school.
feral cat dad: Yup, she'll probably be moved on campus if she's not having her family take care of the baby during the day. Nezu's very adamant that his students have help if they're struggling.
10:45 AM
Existence Is A Prison
feral cat dad: Alright, so Shinsou against Rikamaru Kana from the Support Course. I don't know if this will be easy for him.
nat20: I am offended Kendo thinks so little of me.
feral cat dad: Why?
nat20: She said I'm perverse! And, when I asked her about it after, she said it's because I wear the girls' uniform sometimes. She thinks I'm some pervert trying to invade the girl's bathroom to creep on them.
nat20: I swear I haven't, Mr. Aizawa, I've never even gone into the girls restrooms, I use the men's or the one in Recovery Girl's office. And I change in the men's locker room. Tetsutetsu will tell you, he's guarded me before when I was uncomfortable changing.
feral cat dad: Don't worry, kid, I believe you. Come up to the box, you need a hug. I'll talk to Kendo if you want.
nat20: Please.
10:50 AM
Existence Is A Prison
feral cat dad: Oh my god, he actually did it. I'm so proud, Shinsou.
schrodinger better run: Shinsou fucking yeeted her.
life is a nightmare: Equal opportunity yeeting.
feral cat dad: Next up is Hatsume vs Tokoyami.
nat20: I hope Tokoyami does well next.
11:00 AM
Existence Is A Prison
feral cat dad: Tokoyami, I'm proud of you for being a good sport and helping her up after.
foil-mecha: I'm nothing if not a gentleman. Plus, when she fell down, she sprained her ankle. It's the least I can do to help her to Recovery Girl.
farmer toshi: I'm betting a grocery shop tonight that Ashido's going to win against Midoriya next.
feral cat dad: Be careful kid, you might eat those words.
11:10 AM
Existence Is A Prison
farmer toshi: Fine, I guess I'm getting dinner. And I'm also very happy Toru won against Iida.
feral cat dad: That's if you don't get injured. Remember, there's now two people you know against you.
ranch flavored jello: I still can't believe I won against Iida, honestly.
feral cat dad: Well, Shiozaki is against Shizuka Inei next. A Gen Ed Course student.
nat20: Do you know him, Hitoshi?
farmer toshi: Kind of hard to miss someone when they're that fucking loud all the time.
foil-mecha: Is that son of a bitch harassing Ibara?
nat20: I have lost faith in humanity. How dare a peasant's filthy hands touch our Ibara.
farmer toshi: Yeah, I'd defend my classmate in it being an accident if I didn't know that Shizuka is a blatant misogynists.
feral cat dad: I'll fight him. Disgusting little trash.
life is a nightmare: And HE gets to advance while our Ibara loses? Unacceptable.
feral cat dad: The Min*ta of class 1c.
11:25 AM
Existence Is A Prison
nat20: Thank goodness Kiyomi's advancing. I do feel bad she'll be fighting a misogynist though.
pure: I felt kind of bad about it, I didn't really want to fight our Akari!
nat20: I'm sure Akari understands and also didn't want to fight you either, but you two can't just refuse to fight because you're friends or you'd both be either disqualified or forced to fight by now.
gay salt: No ill will is held on my end, Kiyomi! I think our fight was rather fun!
pure: Okay, as long as you promise you're not mad.
gay salt: I'm not, I'm proud of you, mon amor.
nat20: Any bets on Kaminari here?
farmer toshi: I'll bet on Pikachu winning.
schrodinger better run: I'll bet a grocery trip that Fujioka wins.
life is a nightmare: That would be the furthest a Business Course student would have gotten in the Sports Festival.
schrodinger better run: I'll still bet on him.
feral cat dad: Well, you were wrong, Pony.
schrodinger better run: All as well. I didn't expect Fujioka to have an equip quirk, to be fair.
feral cat dad: Next is Tokage vs Fukumura from General Studies.
saviour: Let's go Tokage!
11:30 AM
Existence Is A Prison
deku deck-you: Is Tokage okay? I heard she passed out.
feral cat dad: She's overworked and malnourished from what Recovery Girl will tell me when I ask and Nezu is speaking with Tokage and asking her what got her to this.
feral cat dad: I
feral cat dad: I don't think I'm at liberty to discuss her tragic backstory with you guys, sadly. But she'll tell you when she moves into the dorms tonight.
11:35 AM
Existence Is A Prison
farmer toshi: Todoroki, aka Mr. Overboard. Poor Sero.
farmer toshi: Oh god, I might need to fight Mr. Daddy Issues.
farmer toshi: Gods help me.
foil-mecha: To be fair, he'd have to get through three brackets to get to you and he'd be fighting you in the three-way fight.
ranch flavored jello: He'd have to get past Katsuki too.
deku deck-you: He won't.
feral cat dad: Alright then, Mr. Overconfident.

Do You Want the Knife You Left in My Back, or Can I Keep It?
Rating: Teen and up, Gen
An injured Hunter wanders into Hexside. What was Luz supposed to do, just let him bleed out on the floor?
Ch 6/6: Separate Paths
Ch 1, Ch 2, Ch 3, Ch 4, Ch 5
Ao3
Hunter lifted one arm slowly. “Ow.” He lifted it a little more. “Ow.” C’mon—just—a little bit—“Ow.”
“Y’know, if it hurts that much, maybe you shouldn’t do it,” King commented from where he was curled up in Hunter’s lap, “Seems pretty obvious to me.”
“They’re just sore muscles. I have to move them, or they won’t get better.”
“What’re you in such a rush for? Are we really that bad?”
“I can’t be away this long.” Hunter rolled his shoulders with a wince. “What if—what if the emperor is mad that I’ve been away?”
“You got stabbed. I think it’s excusable.”
“Doesn’t matter. I should have found a way to check in.”
King tilted his head, looking up at Hunter. “You have one messed-up life.”
“I do not! I should have called in, told him what happened, or at least let him know that I would be a while. He’ll get worried, he—he needs me for something, he wants to keep me safe.”
“Right. So he sent you off into the woods alone with a stab-happy demon. Certainly sounds like he cares about your well-being.”
Hunter snorted. “Kikimora’s wanted me dead for a while. Belos never finds out, and without any evidence, it’s just my word versus hers. She’s never succeeded, so it doesn’t matter.”
“She almost did this time. Are you sure that your emperor doesn’t want you dead and is looking the other way?”
Kikimora has her intricate little schemes.
Did he know? Was he letting her get away with it for some reason?
Hunter shook his head. “No. You don’t know him at all, you can’t judge him!”
“I can judge him all I want, he tried to kill Eda and Luz! And me!”
“Well, he’s different to me, okay?” He had to stop letting people like Eda and King get into his head—they were the enemy, of course they would say the worst of Belos.
King put his head back down, closing his eyes. “Sure. Whatever you say.”
Xxx
Luz slammed open the door to the owl house, dashing towards the stairs. “I’m going to the library,” she called, “I’ll be back in time for dinner!” Wait. Something had been off down there. She pounded back down the stairs to see King curled up on the couch. “Hey, where’d Hunter go?!”
“Busy breaking his promises,” King grumbled from his spot, “He’s been running around, trying to make himself heal faster by stretching and whatnot.”
“Running around? Viney said—”
“Viney didn’t take into account that he’s stubborn, lives for the emperor, and has a bit of a usefulness complex.”
Luz heard a thump and an ow from upstairs. “…I’m guessing that was him?”
“All day, Luz. All. Day. Thump. ‘Ow.’ Thump. ‘Ow.’ ‘Ow. Ow this hurts.’ If it hurts so much, why doesn’t he just stop!”
“I think that applies to a lot of things in his life,” Luz muttered, thumping back up the stairs. Hunter was hauling himself off of the ground using a doorframe. “What exactly are you doing?”
“Getting better.” Hunter yipped as he lost his grip on the doorframe and fell back down. He held up one finger. “Don’t! Say anything.”
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” Luz replied serenely, “Got somewhere to be?”
“Yeah. Back where I belong.”
Right. She wasn’t even going to get into it this time—even if she didn’t want him going back to the emperor’s coven, she knew that she’d just scare him off if she kept arguing the point. Luz offered him a hand up. “If you’re looking to get some exercise, I was gonna visit Amity in the library. You want to come?”
Hunter accepted her hand, but snorted. “Be in a room with you two lovebirds? Blech. I’d rather dangle above the boiling sea while King sat on my shoulder and begged for crackers.”
Luz pushed his shoulder. “Hey! You could have just said no thank you!” She hopped from one foot to another. “Look, Hunter, I know the last few days have been… odd. I know that being in the Owl House is just about the opposite of what your old life was like. And I know, I know, I know that you want to go back.”
“Yeah, I do.”
“Okay. Yeah. I just… you can come here. If you want. If you need.”
Hunter walked stiffly back towards the stairs. “It doesn’t matter. Because I’m going back home. And I’m not going to come back.”
“But—”
“I get it, okay, Luz, you’re the hero, Belos is the evil tyrant, and I’m—I don’t know—”
“Tragic-faced antihero?” Luz offered.
“Whatever! But I don’t need—” His voice cracked, and he looked down at the ground. “I don’t need your pity or your therapy or whatever it is you’re trying to do here. I have a place where I belong, and maybe it’s not perfect, maybe someone there is trying to kill me, but at least I have a purpose, and people listen to me. I appreciate you saving my life, Luz, I really do. But just… leave me alone, okay?”
Luz rubbed her arms. “Okay,” she said softly, walking past him to go back down the stairs, “If that’s what you want. I just… hoped that maybe we could be friends. But if you just want to be the Golden Guard instead… then I guess keep healing, keep on trying to get yourself back to normal. Because you wouldn’t want to stay away from the coven to hang out with a bunch of criminals, now would you?” She bit her wobbling lip. What had she expected? She’d said it wasn’t a business transaction, she wasn’t supposed to expect friendship from him.
But she’d hoped—just maybe…
“Luz—”
Luz hurried down the stairs while he followed more slowly. “I’m going to go visit Amity. I’ll see you at dinner. If you still want to be here.”
Xxx
Hunter groaned as Luz slammed the door shut behind her. “What did I do now?!”
His palisman twittered that it was actually pretty obvious, and likely had something to do with the fact that he’d literally just told her to leave him alone.
“I—okay, yeah, fine. But she had to know—I can’t just abandon everything for her! And… I don’t want her to get it into her head that I will. She’d end up more hurt that way. No. It’s way better that I establish that we’re not friends and let her down now, before she… before…”
The cardinal pecked his ear affectionately, chirping.
“I am NOT self-projecting! I never self-project! Name one time I’ve self-projected!”
One low chirp.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Hunter opened the door to a room he’d never been in before, shuffling in to see—
“My staff!” he blurted, limping across the room to grab it, “So this is where they’ve been hiding you!” He glanced around. This room was chock full to the brim with weapons, wow.
One knife caught Hunter’s attention, and suddenly he couldn’t breathe. He leaned his staff back up against the wall and gingerly picked up a knife, carved with runes. Its surface glittered up at him, cold and merciless, and his back ached as if he’d been stabbed all over again.
The knife fell to the floor with a clatter, and Hunter followed pretty fast, the events of the last few days all playing through his mind at lightning speed. He felt sick. Kikimora had come so close to killing him. And Luz would have taken the fall. It was a bit surprising how much that second thought upset him.
“Hunter?” Eda’s voice called, “Was that you?”
Hunter shoved the knife under his shirt, wrapping it up in the loose end. “Are you stockpiling for war in here?”
His palisman tweeted scoldingly at him. “Shhhh,” he hissed, “It’s not their knife either! I mean, Kikimora did give it to me.”
The bird chirped again, and Hunter caught the meaning perfectly.
Not funny.
Eda poked her head in. “Wouldn’t you like to know?” She peered down at him. “You okay? You’re looking a little pale.”
“Your skin is literally the color of paper.”
“Touché. Have you seen Luz?”
“She’s at the library.”
Eda “ah”ed knowingly. “Gotcha.”
“Why did you hide my staff?” Hunter blurted the words before he could think about it.
Eda sighed. “Honestly? At first it was because I wasn’t sure you wouldn’t use it to hurt Luz.”
“And… now?”
She eyed him. “Now I think I’m more worried about you hurting yourself. I wasn’t really hiding it, I just… wasn’t leaving it lying around.” She crossed the room and hefted the staff, giving it a twirl. “Handy. Reeks of Belos, though.”
Hunter snatched it away. “Belos gave me magic. Without him I’d be dead.”
Eda flicked the end of the staff. “Ever ask yourself how he made it? Who he had to squash to make something like this?”
Hunter collapsed the staff and tucked it in his belt, uncomfortably close to the hidden knife. “Do you usually spend this much of your time denouncing the emperor?”
“Only when I’m trying to convince someone that the Emperor’s Coven is a bad career track. Which it is.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, government bad, living like a crazy criminal in the woods good. I’ll keep that in mind.”

“And I thought, y’know, since he was completely dependent on me for a few days he’d be a little bit more willing to be friends, but he’s not and—Amity, am I the bad guy for being upset?”
“No, of course not. He just…” Amity sighed. “When we were at eclipse lake, he said… well, he said a lot of stuff. But he said something about how everyone had a use, and if you didn’t… well, then you were out on your ear.”
“But I don’t need him to be useful!” Luz almost yelled, getting shushes from other library patrons. “Sorry,” she whispered, “I don’t need him to be useful,” she repeated more quietly, “And he shouldn’t have to feel that way! I don’t want to make him feel that way! But it seems like when I try to let him know that, he thinks it’s a personal attack!”
Amity laced her hand through Luz’s. “Just… give him time. Keep being nice. It worked on me. Worked a little too well. He’ll come around, too.”
Luz smiled a little bit at that. “Heh. Guess that’s true. Thanks, Amity.”
“Of course.” Amity held up a book. “Want to help me do voices in the next reading circle?”
“You know it!”

Luz raced through the streets. Oh, she was late. She was so, so late! She made it to the forest, but halfway through, she slammed into a magic barrier. Luz touched it gently. “What the—”
“Human!”
Luz whirled around to see Kikimora standing there, breathing heavily, leaves in her hand-hair and mud and twigs caught in her robes. “Wow, you do not look so good.”
Kikimora took in a deep breath. “Human. I propose a trade. If you release the Golden Guard to me, I will speak on your behalf to the emperor. I will attempt to get you first access through our portal. You will be able to return home, no other strings attached.”
Luz shook her head. “You really don’t get it, do you? There is absolutely nothing that you can offer me that will get me to hand Hunter over. Maybe you’d sell someone out for one corn chip, but I wouldn’t.”
“Isn’t that noble.” Kikimora’s eyes flashed. “You know, you may have prompted my basilisk to run away. But using the real you as bait… Oh, well, I think that would be just as effective.”
Luz brought out her glyphs. “I’d like to see you try.”

Hunter paced the floor. It was late—an hour past when the Owl House usually had dinner, if he had figured out their schedule right. “Eda? Luz didn’t sneak in a window, did she?”
Eda poked her head out of the kitchen. “Ah, geeze, is she still not back? She probably lost track of the time staring into Amity’s eyes again.” The wild witch opened the door, summoning her staff. “Alright, I’ll go get her.” She made an ‘I’m watching you’ gesture at King and Hunter. “Stay in the house. Both of you.”
She hopped on her staff and flew off. Hunter started pacing again. “Do you think she’s okay?”
“She’s probably fine. Geeze, when did you start getting all worried about her?”
“I just—” Hunter expanded his staff, inching towards the door. “I’ve got this feeling. I’m going to check. Just in case. Don’t tell Eda?”
King eyed him. “You’re being weird. But fine. I won’t tell her. You’d better hurry, though, it won’t take her long to check the library and come back.”
Hunter nodded and bolted out of the door, his palisman fluttering to his shoulder with a chirp.
“It’s just—Kikimora’s still out there. What if…”
Another chirp.
“I know she can handle herself, I just… I need to check, okay?” Hunter lit the tip of his staff. “Eda and King are probably right, it’s probably fine, but if it’s not… no one should have to face Kikimora alone.”
Xxx
Luz ducked behind a tree, panting, as Kikimora shot another magic blast at her. She really hadn’t anticipated how strong the little demon was, and she was running out of pre-drawn glyphs. She took in a deep breath, pulled out a glyph, and ducked around the tree, shooting a bolt of fire at Kikimora. The emperor’s assistant absorbed it in a magical shield, and responded with a blast of her own. Luz rolled to the side, but the blast shifted into a whip of golden energy that wrapped around her ankle, yanking her to the side and slamming her into a tree.
“It’s over,” Kikimora hissed.
Then a familiar red shape dive-bombed the demon, pecking at her head. Luz squinted. “…Lil Rascal?”
Hunter jumped over her, swinging his staff at Kikimora. The demon dodged to the side, her eyes wide.
“How?! You shouldn’t be able to—”
Hunter blasted magic at her. “Found a healer more clever than you.”
“You—you traitor, you’re working with the human?!”
Luz started to sketch in the dirt, tracing glyph after glyph in a sequence.
“What? Oh, Belos wants her alive, I’m making sure you don’t kill her.” Hunter zipped around her, scoring a hit with his staff, sending Kikimora flying. “Besides, you’ve got a lot of nerve calling me a traitor.”
“Enough!” Kikimora howled. She drew a circle, and a blast of magic caught Hunter squarely in the chest, knocking him back into a tree. She held out her hand, and his staff zoomed through the air to her. “You don’t deserve this,” she hissed, “I’ll deal with you in a moment.”
Lil Rascal dove back down, pecking at her head again, and she swatted them to the side. “Stupid bird.” She turned to Luz. “Now, where were—”
Luz slapped the glyph sequence, and a massive block of ice rose up, flying towards Kikimora. The demon blasted it with magic, cracking it open.
“You can’t hit me so—”
Luz grinned as the ice block started to glow. “Your mistake.”
The block exploded, throwing Kikimora backwards. Luz slumped backwards, drained. Wow, that had really taken a lot out of her. She winced. Plus, she was pretty sure she’d bruised a rib or two.
Kikimora staggered out of the crater. “I—will—end—you!” she howled, drawing another circle. Luz winced, bracing herself.
Kikimora fell forward with a scream. Luz blinked, then scrambled forward. The demon had a knife buried in her back.
An awfully familiar knife.
Hunter limped forward, Lil Rascal perched on his shoulder. He picked up his staff. “Good thing—I can throw a knife.” He nudged Kikimora with one foot. “Hey, are you dead? C’mon, I’m sure you can handle a knife in your back, I did.” Kikimora let out a guttural groan, and he nodded. “Good. Because you’re going to get to tell Belos what you did!”
“That’s it, then?” Luz panted, “You’re going back?”
He nodded. “Time I got a move on. Now that I don’t have to worry about her… no reason to stay away.”
Luz looked down at the ground. “Look. I… don’t have any glyphs left—and I don’t want to fight you. But if you try to capture me—”
He looked off back towards Bonesborough, eyes distant. “Wild magic is just. So strong and unpredictable.”
“What does that have to do with any—”
“I was so busy fighting Kikimora, it’s such a shame you got away while I was fighting for my life. But I just couldn’t handle two fights at once.”
“Huh?” Wait. “Oh! Are you—are you sure? What about Belos? Won’t he be mad if you come back without me?”
Hunter winced. “He’ll be angrier about Kikimora’s betrayal. I think. Hopefully.”
“What will you tell him? About what happened when you got stabbed, I mean.”
“The truth. That Kikimora attacked me. I was found by a kind Hexside student who took me in and brought me to a healer. Kikimora attacked me again on the way back, but I was able to defeat her this time.” He picked the demon up and slung her over one shoulder. “Just… go. Before I change my mind.”
Luz got up, a warm, fuzzy feeling blooming in her chest. “Thanks. I owe you one.”
Hunter bit his lip. “Uh—no. You—you don’t owe me anything.” He looked up at the sky, one foot tapping. “F-friends don’t… expect anything back.”
Luz thought she might just have to pick her jaw off of the ground. “Oh! I—”
He turned to go. “I’ve got to go. Eda’s looking for you, you might want to get back to the Owl House.”
“H-Hunter?”
He twisted back to look at her. “What?”
Luz rubbed her arms. “You think… that when all of this is over… no matter which side wins… you think we can still be friends?”
He turned away again. “That’s… it’s a nice thought, but I… I’m not sure this fight can end with both of us alive.”
“I wouldn’t kill you,” Luz called after him, “If we come out on top.”
“I’m not sure I have that same luxury,” he responded softly, “Goodbye, Luz. And… good luck.”

“You know you and that Dwight kid are alot alike.” “How so?” “Well out here you two are like nervous dogs, pissing yourself and clinging to everyone like white on rice but out there you seem to grow a pair and do some impressive shit.” Ash huffed, a grin curling the corners of lips as he tightened a few gears on his hand. “Thanks Ash, that means alot coming from you.”  “I know.”  I watched his grin widen in pride before falling, eyes lifting to Dwight and Nea a few feet away, their heads turned to the approaching fog that swept the forest. “Looks like it’s time to fetch those cojones, we’re heading out.” --------------------------------------------- The Thompson House The sun beamed down from above, nearly blinding me with it’s light. Every realm was so damn dark, that it was always jarring to be brought back here. I could already hear the corn beside be rustling, a dark shape darting away towards a distance generator. I exhaled sharply, confirming it was Nea from her beanie.  My calm composition was shattered as I felt hands resting on my shoulders, causing me to twist around, a hand raised to strike a Ghostface, or Wraith trying to play with me. Dwight’s hands shot towards upwards, a shocked look on his face. “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to scare you, don’t hit me!”  I lowered my fist, sighing again before quickly checking the area around us. “It’s ok Dwight, what do you need?” “I think we should work on a generator together, a bit away from Nea and Ash, you know just in case one of them gets caught we can complete one. Also uh, I can’t find Ash and Nea...” He trailed off, but I got what he was getting at. “Sounds good to me, lead the way.” I reached out for his hand, intertwining my fingers with his. They were so clammy, how that was possible despite being in the realm for only a few moments were a mystery not even the Entity knew.  Dwight paused for a moment, his thumb gently brushing the back of my hand before leading me to a generator he saw fit. Just as we reached the gen, a cry of pain erupted from Ash, scaring a few of a crows to fly into the air. The chase had begun, all Ash had to do was waste the killer’s time and try to stay alive while the rest of us did the work. Knowing Ash, he could piss a killer off like no tomorrow, causing them to want to give the most brutal punishments to him and only him. If we were lucky, Ash would throw the creature off it’s game and we could get an advantage. Dwight winced in sympathy, before turning his attention to the wires, brows knitted and broken glasses sliding down the bridge of his nose. “He’s got this.” I muttered under my breath, trying to comfort myself and Dwight’s nerves. Ash was a tank, sometimes it took a few extra hits just to down him, if not a good dozen on a good day. It’s like that guy was made to be beaten up and in the rare case we were in that was a gift. But if the killer was smart, like few were, they knew the tricks, and Nurse knew that Ash was best saved for last. The sound of a faint heartbeat filled my ear, and I felt a shutter come over my body. Before I had a chance to open my mouth, the rushing form of the Nurse loomed over Dwight, her bonesaw slashing across his back. The man cried in pain, shooting up and running while he had the chance. I followed close behind, hoping that if needed, I could take a quick hit and keep Dwight from being on the hook. God I couldn’t stand to watch Dwight on the hook, the way he cried and whimpered, the tears that feel from his big kind eyes. There was a numbness to them, one that showed he’d done this a million times before but was still filled with a sense of terror, deep into his core. I think that’s what hurt the most, what made even the most hardboiled survivors feel pity. The Nurse slowly raised her hand, the sound of a desperate attempt for air echoing in the air. She was gonna teleport, and it was a long one. We could trick her. I quickly snatched Dwight’s hand, a cry of pain ripping his lips as I yanked him towards the Nurse. He gasped and whimpered, eyes bulging as he tried to rip his hand out of mine. “W-what are you doing!? We’re gonna-” As the words left his lips the Nurse vanished, appearing a few feet behind us with a choking sound, grabbing her chest for some resemblance of air. Dwight let out a surprised laugh, now trailing beside me willingly. “I-I kinda forgot we could do that to be honest. I’ve seen other’s do it but, I can never make my legs move TOWARDS her.” We took shelter behind a small makeshift wall, Dwight’s hand’s searching his back for the wound while he slouched against the wood. “How does it look? It feels deep.” I watched as a finger brushed the edge of the deep, bloodied cut, a sharp exhale rattling through his chest. “S-shit. Damn it, this isn’t good. My arm feels numb, how am I suppose to do generators like this?” My hand brushed against his cheek, smearing some of the blood droplets away from his eyes. “I’ll patch you up, no worries. Come on, turn around Dwighty... we just gotta hope she doesn’t have that one thing on her and you’ll be good as new, I promise.” A generator popped in the distance and not long after another popped in succession, a wave of comfort swept my body. At least the others were doing something. Dwight turned his back to me, his dirty white button up now torn and damp in sticky red. His cut was deep that much was true, but certainly not the worse any of us had. I began to work, trying anything and everything that would possibly help him feel better and close the wound. Despite this I couldn’t help the small sounds he would make in response, the way he’d shutter and twitch with every movement towards the wound. It was a familiar sight unfortunately, but despite the fact you’d be playing EMT every night it didn’t mean you were any good at it. I whispered apologies under my breath, before going silent, my hand clasping over his mouth, my other hand pulling him flush against my chest. Spine Chill was acting up again, and although I couldn’t hear a heart beat that didn’t mean that she couldn’t appear beside us at a moments notice. Dwight’s breath was hot against my palm, I could feel him bite his lips, trying to silence himself even further. I’m glad he wasn’t the type of guy to push aside any safety procedures when he himself couldn’t sense danger. The amount of times I got caught because someone I was with didn’t catch sight of a killer was way too often. Spine Chill lingered for a good 3 to 4 seconds, before being broken, as her attention turned back to a taunting Ash. Thank god for him and the inherit desire to sock him in the face. I pulled my hand from Dwight’s mouth, running it down his neck to rest on his hip. “She was looking over here.” “I kind of suspected that... maybe we should get the generators done, we’re wasting alot of time as it is. One of is is gonna get on hook and it’s gonna go down hill from there if we don’t get at least one more gen, I had a trial at Haddonfield and we got the gens done way faster then this-” Dwight began to trail off, raising his fingers to lips to chew on his nails. “Dwight, it’s fine, I’m almost done anyway, then we can get those gens done faster then any Haddonfield.” I turned my attention back to his wound, hearing Ash get go down in the distance. Damn it, he got way too cocky. Dwight began to bite himself harder, making underlying noise of distress. “Alright, all done, I’ll get Ash, you go to work on the Generator ok?” Dwight stood and nodded, the look on his face apparent he didn’t want me to go and instead work with him. I grabbed his bloody hand with mine, giving it a slight squeeze. “It’ll be ok, we’ll make it out of here, we always do, one way or another. Besides, I know how to juke her.”  I flashed him a small smile, and he returned my hand squeeze weakly. “Be safe, she might be on to you... and Ash’s hook is by the basement.” “I know. But we gotta try to get him-” “No I know, it’s just... bad positioning is all. Go get him, he’s gonna hit the second hook threshold so Nea’s probably on the next gen.” He moved his hand, biting onto the next unlucky nail. “Alright, stop biting your nails baby, catch you on the other side of the gate.” I called out behind me as I jogged towards Ash’s aura. Half way there I realized what I said to Dwight, and felt my face cringe in reaction. Baby? I was just looking for a comfort term but it had to be baby? God why couldn’t he have an easy to abbreviate name?  I slowly approached Ash’s hanging form, the hook piercing his blue shirt, turning it a dark crimson color. His tired eyes moved to look at me, the claws of the Entity closing around his body, ready to strike. “So nice of you to stop playing pat-a-cake with your boy toy to help a dying man.” He growled, a dribble of blood leaking down his chin as he spoke. “I wasn’t-” I stopped myself, lowing my voice while I quickly got him off the hook. “I wasn’t doing that, he got hit real bad by the bone saw. I... I accidently called him baby.” “Ho-ho! Look at you, little miss promiscuous.” He teased “It was an accident, he was freaking out, I was trying to call him something to calm him down but I couldn’t think of anything. He doesn’t think we’re gonna make it out due to how fast we’re doing the gens.” “We could be half way out the door and he’d think we aren’t doing good enough, the boy needs to get some of that good stuff ya know what I mean?” Ash mimicked smoking as we made our way to where Dwight was, hearing Nea go down in the distance. “It’s weed-” “I know-” “Not that if I found any I’d give it to him. Daddy’s needs come first and I’ll be damned if I’m giving the first recreational drug I find in this hell scape to a desk jockey.” “Somehow I don’t think he’d take it anyway...” Ash snorted, pressing his metal hand against the gaping wound in his chest, a gush of blood dripping down his front. “Ye-yeah good point. Damn it, let’s just get this over with, I really hate the hook wounds.” ------------------------------------------------------------------- The rest of the trial went well, as well as a trial with a murderous teleporting health care worker could go. With the help of Dwight we managed to get the last gens done fairly quickly. The only trouble was a second hook for Ash and one for Nea but otherwise we got out fairly safe. Seems like the Nurse was off her game, and Ash’s perfected skill of  being an annoying asshole was once again overpowered and successful. I slumped against the log, wrapping the dirty gauze around my arm from the clawed hands of the Nurse. She managed to hit me right at the end, tried to pull me back into the trial with what strength she had. Luckily due to the Entity’s twisted sense of humor it was already healing, a double edged sword when you found out it was just to put you through the wringer later. Dwight frowned at the tattered remains of his clothes, his thumb smoothing over the rough slash before standing up and beginning to rummage through his suitcase of clothes. “Damn kid, you’re yolked as hell. Why the hell have you been holding out on all of us huh? What’s your secret?” Ash gawked, circling around the bare chested Dwight. Despite the fact he was facing away from me I could some how sense how red his face was getting, his arms curling around his chest to hide himself. Ace who just returned from a walk in the woods chime in as well. “Damn, I looked just like that as a young buck.” He turned to face me, giving a signature smile and finger guns. “Now I look even better.” “I... I don’t look that good, I’ve just been um... running alot. Hyperventilating.” He tried to turn his attention to his clothes, picking out a sweater to hold close to him. “Nah don’t be so shy, why don’t we ask the pretty lady how you look huh? Jenna. What do you think of this hot slab of man meat hmm?” Ash’s arm wrapped around Dwight’s shoulder, turning his body to face me. He looked terrified, his eyes wide and beads of sweat beginning to form along his forehead. Ash was right, he wasn’t ripped but he certainly was fit. But most of the survivors were fit, least the ones that were here the longest were. A nice soft v-line, the smallest signs of the beginning of abs being amplified by the light of the campfire. I averted my eyes to the dirt below, nudging a clump of dirt with my shoe. “You look nice Dwight, Ash and Ace are right even if they are... them.” “Well you heard the lady, the house is always right.” Ace chimed in from his seat on the long. “You got spunk kid.” “And if you keep it up you’ll get to spunk-” Ash smiled, causing Dwight to huff and pull himself away, earning a scolding from myself “Ash-” “What? I can’t be a hype man for nervous nelly over here? I’m trying to give the man a pair that he NEEDS.” “He has a pair Ash, come on. I know you’re trying to help, you try to help alot of people but...” “But what? Come on Sugar, spill it. I know you like to keep those thoughts to yourself.” “...You can be a little... much.” “Baby I’m all a little much-”  I felt my cheeks warming up, crossing my arms nervously as Ash loomed over me. “I mean... sometimes you need a softer approach with things, with Dwight, with me. You can be... off-putting or rude to people who aren’t into your... muchness. You probably scared Dwight off and made him more self conscious cause you said that instead of helping him.” “Well then who’s fault is that? We told him he looks great! Ugh, whatever, I’ll stop being a charity case then, since nobody seems to be appreciative.” Ash grunted, turning around to storm off to a second campfire off in the distance. “Ashley... damn it...” My shoulders slumped in defeat, going to sit beside Ace who was twisting a scratched coin between his fingers. “Don’t sweat it mi tesoro, Ash is just thick headed when it comes to his ways. You either get it through or you break your hand trying to knock the sense into him.” “Was I wrong? Maybe I was being too harsh on Ash. I just... I just don’t want us to fight, I don’t want anyone to fight. We’re all so tense in trials I just want us to get along and be happy for once outside of them.” Ace frowned, placing a comforting hand on my thigh so I would look at him. “Sometimes people will fight, especially since, well... we’re HERE of all places. But give em enough time and when the right moment comes around they’ll forget all about whatever fight you were having and drag your ass from the basement apologizing and praying you won’t die. Happened to me twice. When the shit hits the fan we look out for each other and if it isn’t hitting the fan then it’s not a day in the fog am I right?” He flashed another smile and I couldn’t help but smile along “Yeah, yeah I suppose you’re right. I just want it to stay happy. But that’s impossible huh?”  “Not impossible, just very, very, very hard. But I love shitty odds, so I’m with you for keeping the vibe lively. Maybe when Dwight and Ash come back with can get a round of cards going huh? I promise I won’t cheat.” “I got a feeling you’re lying to me but honestly I’ll take a rigged game any day.”
