Slapping it Together: Semiplural Pronouns

We have internal language(s)! Our primary language can be voiced, signed, or written (phonetically or symbolically). We disagree on the degree of separation between the voiced and signed modes, and conversation tends to favor one unless the current speaker is using both. We don’t really have a standard dialect, but there are certain words that are standard.

We tend to assume that outsiders don’t care about our languages, but it is slightly relevant to discussing system pronouns. We are a large collective, so we have many words/roots that English does not. I’ll start with the voiced/phonetic variation of some roots:

The structure of the word in its most formal goes location, membership, distance, quantity. Common shortenings are membership-quantity or just membership or quantity.

Internal (‘n), external (ng), abstract (h)

Speaker (y), listener (ttah), other (va)

Near (ih), midrange (eh), far (ah)

One (n), subsystem (nuh), pair (hewmah), sidesystem (mah), small loose group (‘b), large loose group (‘m)

Examples: The word ‘nahttahnuh refers to the subsystem the internal audience (distant listener) is currently in, while yeh is shorthand for the speaker.

We don’t have a keyboard for the symbolized signed speech, so I’ll draw out a few handshapes. The handshape typically names the quantity, the direction the membership, and the motion the quantity. Singlet outsiders have their own handshape, and system outsiders get location mentioned at the beginning of the sentence.

Hands are hard, gimme an E for effort.

In external practice, we’re thinking of combining those roots with pronoun bases. In ASL, we use a first person semiplural for the system. In English, maybe we could use the m of me, w of we, and th of they with distance vowels and quantifiers like we would internally (formal once and then conversational). Idk, it’s a half-baked idea.

a couple of months ago I was daily shadow working with knives in the bathroom, doing martial arts, dancing, bending and being soundless and also voice on _ the harsh conditions stayed just diff places _ I am a bit worn out, singing goes and is a must for the throat chakra, n o t super much movement tho some stretches here and there, walking the dogs here and there ... i am at the point where the only thing i really listen to is "keep going" and it might as well be "keep bleeding".
