Dragon's Dogma 2: Main Pawn - Affinity
As it turns out, your Main Pawn can be befriended by/"fall in love" with your Arisen (the Main Character).
Pictured below: my Main Pawn fawning, aka: the blushy boy
(i play on the lowest settings to save frames, bear with me)
Look at this dork! :'D
I accidentally got him in this state by spending waaay too much gold on him at the Clovis's Barberie (the hairstylist), but you can also gain affinity with your Pawn by:
high-fiving them after fights, spending time with them by drinking at the taverns (beer mug icon on the map), waving at them every-so-often ("hail" interaction) and talking with them from time to time (small talk/matters of import)
So - by treating Pawns like real people, they can become more… human?
...and fall in love?

Nightbringer Lesson 11 Lucifer Discussion
I’ve been playing Obey Me for three years and when I saw the dialogue option,
“You’re not actually angry, are you? That’s not it.”
I HIT IT WITHOUT A SINGLE HESITATION!!! BECAUSE I KNOW AND LOVE LUCIFER!!!
And that is the correct option if you want favor with Lucifer!! Sure it may have hurt him that we lied about being a demon but that’s not the problem.
The problem is that because we’re a human we’re on the side on humanity. While Lucifer has pledged allegiance to Diavolo.
Spoiler for Obey Me Shall We Date: Lucifer swore an oath after making a deal with Diavolo. In exchange for his loyalty Diavolo would save his dying sister Lilith by having her reincarnate into a human.
This is something the other brothers are unaware of and why Lucifer calls Solomon disgusting for weaponizing and throwing that in his face.
(Note: While Lucifer has sworn an oath he will always put his brothers above Diavolo.)
Lucifer may be prideful and strict with his brothers but there’s NOTHING he cares about more then them.
So a human who lied to them and has the ability to force them into submission, extract their powers and use it is a MASSIVE threat!!!
A threat he is not wanting to take the risk of especially when it hasn’t been long since he lost his sister Lilith.
When you first approach Lucifer he asks, “Why did you show up when you did? Why did you appear before us?”
He asking why did you come to Devildom now? What are your intentions?! He may ask that but truthfully it doesn’t matter to him. You’re a threat.
A threat he has to eliminate in order to protect his brothers and their new life in Devildom.
Lucifer will lean in your ear and ask right before painfully restraining you.
“Why did you appear before me?” He knows you know his intention. He can’t understand why you searched for him at the Fountain of Knowledge.
What do you want with him?
Because while Lucifer may suppress it and is putting his brothers before it. He has begun developing feelings for the player.
You can later say, “I want to protect all of you.”
Which gains you even more favor with Lucifer because that’s all he wants. He just loves and wants to protect his brothers AND I LOVE THAT!!!!
Us handing him the grimoire IS SUCH A BIG MOMENT!!! Nightbringer players might be unaware but a grimoire is SUCH a big deal!!!
So to hand that over despite the grimoire giving us a major advantage AHHHH MY HEART!!!!
Combined with the player promising to protect them!
Your pledge and actions leave him questioning himself on what’s the right decision. Is trusting you worth the risk it puts his brothers at?
I cannot wait for lesson 12!!! I NEED US TO RESOLVE THIS LUCIFER ANGST SO BADLY!!!!!

(Sorry my Op.5 hype is off the charts: super long post up ahead with a bit of analysis into why Sherlock says the things he does to convince William to live)
Can I just say that Morimyu Op. 3 does a fantastic job at setting up the confrontation between William and Sherlock?
William sings, conflicted, about whether he can still find forgiveness. His mind is set on dying (alone), but there's a part of his heart that wavers.
AND THEN. AND THEN!!!!! SHERLOCK MEETS HIM IN DURHAM AND TELLS HIM
A crime is still a crime, no matter how noble the intention. He cannot forgive killing others and using the deaths of people, even despicable people. (Which is beautifully contrasted against the Jack the Ripper case btw). He will catch the Lord of Crime and punish him for his actions.
It's at that point that William turns a bit sorrowful and resigned (and Shogo's expression is so!!!! SO!!!!! wow his despair is palpable) almost as if he's thinking to himself 'as expected, there is no forgiveness for someone like me' and probably solidifies his idea that death is the only suitable recompense for him.
--
ANYWAY back to the manga itself
His sorrowful condemnation:
I think that it's precisely because of this, the only person whose forgiveness can change his mind is Sherlock.
It doesn't matter that Fred or Louis or what any others think. They can call him a good person all they want, but it doesn't change the fact that in his mind, he is already condemned.
(Besides that, his accomplices are all evil because their plan is inherently evil to him. Their words hold little weight. A sinner can't save another.)
That is, until Sherlock tells him this.
And suddenly his entire worldview is upended. Because all this time, he believed there was only condemnation to be found for someone like him.
Sherlock, his righteous actor in the stage of London's crimes, has deemed him worthy of redemption.
And if the one good person thinks that William can be saved...
But no! How can believe that? William James Moriarty is the devil incarnate. He is stained. His sins are unforgivable, no matter what Sherlock says. Murder is unforgivable, right?
So Sherlock flips the script.
He reminds William that HE is also a criminal and murderer. (It's a perfect crime in the eyes of the law, but William knows the truth)
He becomes the mirror reflecting William's image so that William can come to the realisation that they are all capable of good and evil.
The greatest evil is capable of good.
The greatest good (Sherlock - in Liam's eyes, at least) is capable of evil.
And if William can still think of Sherlock as good despite this,
And if William can forgive Sherlock for murder...
Then why can't William himself be forgiven for murder?
I think, in some ways, here Sherlock also confesses that he has lost the mandate or the right to catch William as a detective on the right side of the law.
He's not standing there as someone catching a criminal.
They're now standing as equals. Friends (or whatever you call that tension they have going on LOL), rivals, equals.
It's no longer "catch" in the criminal sense, but to "catch" a falling friend. A trust fall, if you will.
(It just occurred to me that the whole chapter is just a trust fall exercise on a large scale LMAO)
This changes the whole trajectory of what William believes in. That seed of doubt has been planted in him - that he could, perhaps, still find forgiveness.
More importantly, that he has Sherlock's forgiveness.
And that is what allows him to live on.

when yuuji and megumi finally got together, what were everyone’s reactions? like inumaki and panda obviously threatened yuuji in the most nonsensical way possible but what about gojo and nanami and the others? like finally seeing their little boy grow up to be old enough to date and immediately going for the worst possible candidate in a lot of people’s minds *cough—the zenin—cough*.
if gojo was on the verge of a mental breakdown from just giving Megumi The Talk, i can’t imagine just how hard it hit him that his little sea urchin was growing up so fast.
What must be understood is that the second years have been following their relationship from its inception like it’s their favorite soap opera. Maki clocked it when Megumi tried to kill Kamo Noritoshi with an elephant over him and all of them have been overly invested in it since. Those are their beloved kohais. They’re both so stupid and vulnerable. Like idiot babies. They want them to be happy idiot babies who hold hands.
Yuuta would fight special grade curses with one hand and text Maki with the other to find out if they were dating yet and maki would text back “no but they each killed a special grade and megumi has a domain expansion now” and Yuuta would text back “what am I MISSING”. Inumaki thought if they gave them nine years or so megumi would work himself up to a hand graze and Yuuta would freak out because they don’t have that kind of TIME. Panda texted Yuuta in a panic weeks after everyone else figured it out to tell him that he thinks megumi and the kid who’s sukunas vessel like each other and Yuuta had to pretend to be surprised as if the entire matter was not giving him stress sweats from Africa.
The unofficial reaction was that maki sent a gif of a ship coming into port into the group chat and everyone celebrated like it was new years and the ball had just dropped because thank fuck it finally happened.
As a side note, the second years all consider themselves parents of three and are only half joking about that fact. It’s so hard raising teens. The little shits keep fighting things. None of them have any social skills. All three of them are completely feral. They’re pretty sure nobara bit a purse snatcher the last time they went out into the city.
But that was the unofficial reaction. They can’t tell Megumi or Yuuji about that.
Yuuta actually gets a call from Megumi to tell him that he has a boyfriend, and he had to pretend like all this was news to him as if he had not spent the past three months more invested in this than anything in his own life. Yuuta told him that he was happy for him, and that he couldn't wait to meet Yuuji, and lived in blissful ignorance about the fact that Yuuji screamed into his own pillow for twenty minutes that night because Megumi came and told him that Okkotsu-senpai was important to him and he'd like it if they got to know each other.
Maki started a campaign of teasing Megumi about his new boyfriend, because she sort of loves giving her little nephew shit. Megumi wonders why life has to be this hard.
Inumaki and Panda had already given Yuuji the shovel talk (it was part of what made Yuuji realize he was completely in love with Megumi) and had a stunningly moving congratulations and dating advice speech for Yuuji that featured a power point presentation.
Its moving nature was slightly impacted by the fact that Inumaki gave it.
Inumaki patted him manfully on the back, and Panda gave him a brotherly hair ruffle, and Yuuji continued to be confused as to what the hell was up with the second years.
The issue with Gojo is that they can never tell when he's taking the piss or if he's being genuine. Like, Gojo loves giving him a hard time. It's a classic "Fushiguro is getting hit on" conundrum. Is he actually devastated that his little boy is growing up or is he just doing it to fuck with them?
Megumi insists that he's doing it to be an idiot and refuses to speak to him for days, which does not help with all the weeping.
Whatever the case, it's enough to annoy Nanami, because he keeps agonizing over how his baby was swept up by some jock who was going to steal his sweetness and Nanami would take offense on Yuuji's behalf because Itadori Yuuji is a gentleman and a delightful young man and Gojo should be glad that Megumi is dating someone like him.
Megumi wonders why life has to be this hard sometimes.
Nanami is just happy for them both and gives them both private congratulations wherein he tells them that he's glad they have each other and that they are good together. He is the most normal of them all.
