my favorite thing about working in a bio lab was that i genuinely had to wear scrubs at work one day, and my lab manager (work bestie) and i could not stop telling everyone that we had to go “scrub in.” like snndndndnd sorry can’t clean the equipment today, i’ve gotta go scrub in. later, suckers. *psht* *speaks into nonexistent intercome* hello, yeah, this is doctor cassie reporting for surgery, i’m gonna need helping putting my sterile lil glovies on.

ngl i find it rather strange how much people overlook alastor's genuine, confirmed friendships in hazbin? he's obviously awful and he likes being awful, no doubt about it, but he has the capacity to care for others and we see that most blatantly with rosie & mimzy. he's able to meet them on a level they're pleased with when it comes to intimacy and their bond : mimzy might use him, but alastor clearly likes this and has no qualms about this treatment ( despite husker literally implying this is all mimzy does when she comes to visit him, which is, uh, very decidedly not a good friend thing to do! ) and then with rosie they're close, clearly, but you get the suspicion that while they have their moments, they probably don't do much besides gossip, aimlessly enjoy each other's company, ask for favors when visiting, generally helping each other out, etc. but alastor still treats them well and has high views of them, welcomes them warmly and allows them a lot of leeway most wouldn't ever get. mimzy talking to him like he's a child? totally fine! rosie swinging him about, dusting off his clothes, insulting his poor etiquette? go right ahead darling! alastor behaves so affectionately with them, and it's an affection you see bleed out into niffty and charlie too.
all this preamble is really just to say that alastor doesn't treat people he considers his actual friends poorly. is it a normal friendship? no!!! but i think alastor finding and navigating what works for the people he cares for & delivering on it is kinda touching,,, in its own creepy way! and i guess this is why i find it weird when people portray alastor as some uncaring and brutal force in vox's life when they were friends ( given the theory that they were ). frankly if vox, a man, managed to reach such a closeness with alastor, then i just don't think he was getting abused on the regular, y'know! like, i do think their friendship was always different, a little too intense, perverted, and vox probably was unsatisfied with things ... there certainly was toxicity there! but it wasn't some orchestrated long con on alastor's end. why put in all that effort, why soil the title as his friend, when vox wasn't a big deal? when there wasn't anything to gain? when they were already set apart based on their hell given roles? idk!!! i just. alastor can be a good friend and he's shown that. i kinda think that needs to be acknowledged more lol

Sidekick Can’t Talk
TW: mention of removal of vocal chords, implied wounds (I clearly have no idea how to tag stuff please let me know if I should add anything or if I did it incorrectly)
The alley was dark and Villain wanted nothing more than to be home. They shoved their hands more deeply into their coat pockets and hoped they wouldn’t get frostbite. Their thoughts were on coffee and ice packs for their bruised ribs. They could thank Hero for the pain. And the limp.
Another day, another fight that had ended in Villain’s humiliation. This time they had barely escaped. They were so deep in their thoughts, they walked right past a huddled figure without thinking twice about it.
What stopped them was the sound of muffled crying.
Villain turned on their heel. They peered into the shadows, walking over to the shape crouched in the darkness.
They recognized them instantly. If only by their mask. The real question was what was Hero’s Sidekick doing on the streets. Villain stood over them awkwardly.
Sidekick didn’t look up, but kept their face in their arms, shoulders shaking.
Villain shrugged. This was not their problem. They turned to leave, working their jaw in a tight circle, and then turned back. They unbuttoned their jacket and draped it over Sidekick.
Sidekick’s gaze flickered up.
Villain tried to look nonchalant. It was rather hard when they were freezing. They were sure their hands were going to be frostbitten by the time they got home. “You good there?”
Sidekick looked at them strangely and Villain suddenly felt distinctly uncomfortable. Sidekick looked– they looked terrified. They gestured for Villain to leave, yanking off the jacket and trying to give it back.
“Hey, hey, no it's okay. You can have it.” Villain smiled, dropping down to Sidekick’s eye level. “Really, I don’t want it.”
Sidekick shook their head frantically, extending the jacket again.
Villain refused to take it. Their eyes narrowed. Something was off. Sidekick had never talked much, but something was off.
“What are you doing out here?”
Sidekick faltered, their gaze dropping. They seemed to curl in on themselves.
Villain reached out, placing a hand on Sidekick’s shoulder. “Sidekick?”
Sidekick jerked away at the touch and as they pulled back, Villain saw the scars. The scars on Sidekick's throat. The kind of scars they would have if someone cut out their vocal chords.
Villain froze for the second time that night, blood rushing to their head. “You– you can’t talk.”
Sidekick shuddered. They shook their head.
Villain had the irrepressible urge to punch the wall. Which was stupid. They had committed worse crimes than this. And yet. And yet this made them angrier than they had even been. They lowered their voice, trying to sound calm. “Was it Hero?”
Sidekick stared straight ahead. They were visibly trembling.
Villain’s voice darkened. “Can you stand? We’re going to get you somewhere safe, and then I’m going to have a little chat with Hero.”

Caleb for ask game
Opinion: The perfect character. The way they've given him such a clear personality and character while NEVER SAYING A WORD and only visibly being in like 3 episodes for not even a minute at a time? top tier character writing what the FUCK. you can tell what parts of the story were Most Important for Dana to show akljhfLFJALSJFKA. I love how they did the whole "all he did was love too much" trope while allowing his character to be shown as seeming mournful and almost bitter at his brother for killing him. I feel like usually with that trope, even in the ghost-way they're often shown as this angelic, forgiving being after death (i.e. early seasons mary winchester ghost), but Caleb is shown looking down at his brother is disgust and disappointment. I LOVE it i LOVE Caleb, would love to hear him talk one day but god if he sounds like Hunter I might have a full on meltdown
HC: I know it's basically canon, but he loves his wife so much. Evelyn is off shaking down travelers for snails and eating little critters Eda-style and Caleb is just over there like
I also really want him to have been Ghost Caleb, not Hallucination Caleb because HC that he has watched and welcomed home once killed each and every Golden Guard. His colony of sons. Sometimes they remind him a little to much of Evelyn or their child he never got to meet and it Hurts, but instead of being bitter he loves each and every one. Watching over Hunter without being able to do anything to warn him of the abuse that's to come or be able to stop his brother. The joy of him seeing Flapjack for the first time after 400 years when he finds his way to Hunter. Just. SO MUCH LEFT TO KNOW ABOUT CALEB AND I ALREADY LOVE HIM SO, SO MUCH.
