R.Tee "SMTM以後人氣上升…成為怪才一般的音樂人" ②

音樂製作人R.Tee（本名金重九）藉由作曲拓展了他的領域，不只是BLACKPINK，也涵蓋了YG ENTERTAINMENT與THEBLACKLABEL的多組藝人，如BIGBANG、WINNER、TREASURE以及全昭彌等等。最近在Mnet的Hiphop Survival節目《SHOW ME THE MONEY 11》（以下簡稱SMTM）中，擔任製作人出演而人氣上升，進一步提高了身價。

「在這個節目中，我得以有機會與我所尊敬的artist們一同合作；就這點看來，收到以製作人身分參與的提案時感到很心動。而出演SMTM，能夠成為向更多人展現我的存在、以及我所追求的音樂方向等等的契機；也有著這樣的想法。」R.Tee在SMTM中與Rapper JUSTHIS組成了稱為「魚子醬（알젓；R.JUS）」的製作團隊，合流的隊員有許成炫、DON MALIK、KHAN、Los、Mckdaddy等等，一起完成了具有多樣化色彩的Hiphop音樂。

「與JUSTHIS的組合好到無法用言語形容。是一位真心投入音樂、非常聰明的朋友，也產生了想要一輩子和對方保持親近的想法。結交了JUSTHIS這位朋友，可以說是通過出演SMTM而得到的最大收穫之一的這種程度。與R.JUS組員們的合作也很好。在製作歌曲時帶上了想要讓大韓民國任何人都知道他們的名字的決心。所有的歌曲都是和隊員們統一意見後形成而誕生的，成果也是我們都感到滿意的。」

R.Tee匠心獨具的製作功力，將〈MY WAY〉、〈醜小鴨〉等SMTM11競演曲推上了主要音源排行榜的最上位圈，並以此再次證明了本身所具有的出眾的音樂製作才能。

「MBTI是INFJ，是屬於什麼事都要謀定而後動的類型。因此確定要出演SMTM11之後，連Plan B（備用方案）也計畫好了、beat也預先準備了40首左右的程度，結果節目開始後，每一首都是完全新寫的。（笑）這樣一來，雖然體力上真的很累，但是歌曲達成了在排行榜上取得好成績的目標、也讓隊員們的名字為大眾所知，因此而感受到了幸福感。希望我們的隊員們大家都能夠成為宇宙大明星就好了。」

因為出演SMTM11的關係，個人fandom也有了顯著的增長。R.Tee說：「不只是國內的fans，中國fans也多了很多。」並表示：「對於SMTM是一個受到全球喜愛的節目產生了實感。」

「一直以來，我時常在KAKAO TALK的Open Chat聊天室與fans交流。如果人數太多的話，溝通好像就會變得困難，因此將人數限制為200名。就像住在隔壁的鄰居、製作人哥哥似的，像這樣與fans交流、也會做像是苦惱商談這種的，在這樣的互動中感到心裡很充實。」

「我覺得自己是受到神所祝福的音樂人呢。」R.Tee說：「最初下定決心要做音樂時的激動和幸福感，直到現在還是像那時一樣維持著。」這麼說的同時，他也表達了往後想展開以本人的名字發行音源製作的project、並在其中與更多artists合作的心願。

「在音樂上與喜歡的artist們合作，並且持續做出得到許多喜愛的音樂，這就是我最大的盼望了。我想做些創新獨特的東西——『怎麼會突然想做這種音樂呢？』對於那些因為預見後續會有像這樣的反響、而感到躊躇不定的artist們，我想告訴他們：我可以做為一個有趣的窗口，和我一起不留遺憾地挑戰自己想要的音樂色彩吧。（笑）」

在進行個人project之中，IU是R.Tee心目中將來某天一定要合作一次的artist。

「與和我具有不同特質的人們合作會產生好的synergy，IU xi特有的感性對我來說是我所不具備的，所以想要有趣地加以混合。比起把相似的人們和相似的東西很好地製作出來，我是屬於對以新鮮的組合、新奇地進行製作更加燃起熱情的類型。」

被問及以後有沒有創立以自己為首長的音樂公司的���畫時，R.Tee明確地劃清了界線：「絕對沒有。」也就是說，R.Tee會像現在一樣，作為音樂製作人及EDM DJ活動，並通過這些活動與粉絲交流、同時也過著追求幸福的人生，這就是他的夢想。

「我想要持續做出打破標準與框架的新嘗試，以『怪才似的音樂』獲得喜愛。如果一直都做一樣的東西，那就很沒趣了不是嗎。我會繼續帶來讓人感到『有趣又新奇的』音樂，請多加關注我吧。」

Get ready for some long-ass analysis about TS

As I mentioned yesterday, it still bugs me the whole situation of TS. I can’t stop thinking about why TS ended up in such shit when their artists were quite successful...

First of all, I do not know what kind of system for doing business is set in South Korea (like initial deposit to the company, types of companies and what are the mandatory actions you need to do with it, etc.), so I will use knowledge of the system in my country.

I tried to dig up some information about the structure of the company. The only thing I found was, that it is private company (YG or SM are public ones aka they offer their stock to public), but this won’t help me much. Anyway, I will try to somehow analyze the business of the company.

So, when setting up the company it is needed to make initial deposit, then calculate costs for building (purchase or lease – most of the companies lease the place for their offices and so on), for staff (future managers, stylists, makeup artists, artists, administration, trainees, dancers), for energy costs, for cars, for equipment, for promotions (since it is a company which works in entertainment industry, I guess that budget for promotions must be quite high). Except promotions we can say that those costs are fixed (company pays fixed amount of money for some time) and promotions and other costs (connected with making MV and albums etc.) are costs which vary from TV to TV, from composer to composer etc.; this all means that the beginning of the business is always hard, and unless you have few millions to spare on your bank account, you will need to loan money and that means that you have to pay it back with some interest rate. Thus, it means another cost for the company.

Now, when calculation is finished, salaries for staff set, all loans etc. are signed, and we put the business into action, it is time to get money back aka debut groups and use the profit from them to pay off the debts. TS was formed in 2008 and same year debuted Untouchable. Untouchable was quite popular as hiphop group (duo) and definitely made some profit for TS or at least made such profit that TS would still work. Next year TS debuted Secret, and we all know that Secret got really popular. Maybe their debut was not that successful, but following comebacks made them quite popular and they managed to win a lot of awards. With Secret debuting, it also meant more costs (salary to their manager, maybe for more stylists and makeup artists, salary for the members, more costs connected with album releases, promotions, etc.). Here it comes the tricky thing – management. I don’t know how much company can influence the price of albums, goods and if they can, somehow, negotiate the costs for the promotions, etc., but good businessman is able to negotiate price which is a compromise to both sides. What is important for starting business is, to not get into the loss which is bigger than their fixed costs (until the company is still able to pay its fixed costs it can still work and get profits in the future). What I want to say is, that in the beginning TS probably was operating with loss, but after the Secret’s success, I think that sooner or later they must have got to the profit, and I think that the time when they finally got the profit was the time when they decided to debut B.A.P.

B.A.P got public attention from the very beginning. It was completely new, different and powerful group. What kinda destroyed the powerful entrée was debut of other great groups that year (NU’EST, BTOB, VIXX, but mostly it was EXO). Despite SM debuting their new boy group, B.A.P did not get overshadowed (they won few rookie awards). All in all, TS had another very talented group with huge future potential (and also group which could get them a lot of money). Year or so after the debut, they sent B.A.P on world tour (more costs but also more profits), which was quite a success, so then TS practically sent B.A.P on world tour every year.  I guess that with B.A.P’s success (but maybe also with Secret – I got into kpop and B.A.P in 2015, so I do not know what TS was doing before) TS tasted the taste of money… and they got greedy.

But they got greedy and not thinking about future at all. From what I saw through the years, I have the feeling that the management always thought about immediate profit, thought about short period in business and not the long period of time. In my opinion, in such industry, it is important to think of the future too. Instant profit is important, because it finances your next projects, but you have to think about those projects. You have to think about the audience, the impact of the things you are doing right now, and that is what TS probably fucked up. They wanted money, money, money, and did not think about the impact of not paying their artists, never letting them rest, etc. I think they just thought that this won’t be problem. They did not think that if something like lawsuit or any leakage of their shady behavior happens, that the credibility of the company would plummet…

… and that is what happened. 2014 TS was still promoting Secret and Secret was still popular, B.A.P reached the peak in their career, won their first music show. Everything went well for TS, but… TS’s approach probably did not change and it still did not pay to their staff…

TS scheduled debut of new girl group Sonamoo on December. But before their debut, B.A.P filled lawsuit against TS and this is where things went downfall. Sonamoo’s debut and following comeback were successful. Now, this is where I lack a bit, so I am sorry for all Sonamoo stans. But even though that Sonamoo’s debut and comeback with Cushion single was successful, I am not sure that TS used this to promote them more (also if I remember well some B.A.P fans were not happy about Sonamoo’s comeback, so I think that it also did not help them) which is sad, because they would be quite successful – they have visuals, vocals, rap, dance, charisma.

Now I will move to the more recent events – B.A.P photobook. This makestar project was legendary and it surpassed its funding goal by 750%!!!!!! (from USD 31,300 to USD 235,682.38). I assume that part of the profit was taken by makestar, but still. TS got a lot of money in their hands. Sonamoo’s makestar project was also successful and surpassed funding goal by 500% (twice).

Of course that TS decided to debut new boy band. They probably knew that B.A.P’s contracts expire soon and that they probably won’t renew them, so they needed new boy group which would earn them profit. BUT… the question is if it wasn’t too early? Wouldn’t have been better to use money from the projects to finish Sonamoo’s project and promote B.A.P more? In 2017 TS sent B.A.P on another tour, after only two weeks of Wake Me Up promotions. That comeback was very successful and I found it foolish that TS decided to send them on tour and Japan instead of fully promote the comeback and get the most out of it. What I found as a huge flop (not musically... I loved everything on it) was Hands Up comeback. I know that B.A.P said that the new album would be released soon and TS probably panicked when they found out that they have almost no time. But wiser decision would be to put it off and make full promotions for the album. Wait until Daehyun’s musical is over. TS knew that B.A.P won’t leave until the end of 2018, but they literally boycotted them and I think it was not right decision. B.A.P got more attention with Rose album and with good promotions they could earn more than TRCNG. Same with Sonamoo. Makestar project was successful and they could invest more time into promoting them than trying to debut new group. They should have settle things in their company before the debut.

I think that Hands Up was also rushed because TRCNG comeback was planned on 2nd January and new Sonamoo comeback was planned just few weeks after TRCNG. I also think that it was not wise to rush TRCNG to Japan only two months after their debut. Focusing on domestic market is for debuting groups more important, and by sending TRCNG to Japan, TS must pay another costs, I dare to say, unnecessarily.

TS not promoting Daehuyn’s musicals, Himchan’s play Euijin’s success in UNIT was another mistake by them, but now we are talking about recent problems, and if TS struggled with debts and internal problems before, I guess that it was hard to do anything about it now. Still, I think that it would not be such pain to make short post about their success and hype them up a bit.

The worst possible thing happened last year, when CEO Kim Taesong died. Since then the activities of the company are even more blurry than before. It was never mentioned how he died (and I have some thoughts on it but I will keep it to myself, because this is rather sensitive topic). But what bothers me more than CEO’s death is, that after that we got practically no information about TS. Who leads it? Is it still in some negotiations? Does TS even exist anymore? We know nothing about it and it really bugs me. By this time things should have been settled somehow; however, TS is still shady as it was for a long time.

Anyway, I babbled a lot and I would like to finish this trail of thoughts. I think that the main problem lied (and lies) in bad management and lust for instant profit, instead of thinking into the future. All their artists have huge potential, but TS is not able to get the attention. Right now, it is mostly because of the lack of sources. I always think that they could get some sort of loan, the thing is that they may lost credibility and banks simply do not want to lend him more money.  

Is there some way how to get out of this shit they got themselves into? This actually has been bothering my mind for some time already. I wonder if they can do something about it. I have no idea how bad their situation is. I mentioned the loans. If they lost credibility, they should try to somehow get it back; for example, by sharing with public more information about the company. The only information we got were rumors about this or that, and it only destroys the image of the company. If they need money, they should create some kind of rational plan of how they get money for paying off the debts, so they can persuade banks to give them money (but there may be a problem – I read somewhere that CEO was probably using money for gambling, but I think it was one of many rumors, but even though it was only rumor this could also affect decision-making of the banks – as a bank I would not lend money to the company that would use it for some personal matters and not for the business). Nevertheless, if the situation of the company is not too serious, they can still do something about it, but I guess that it would need to completely change the attitude, which is probably the hardest part (considering also the culture).

PS: I found out that TS set up their subsidiary in Japan in 2011. I am not sure if it was great idea. I have no idea how Japanese promotions work there, but maybe less expensive would be to make a deal with some intermediary. But yeah… I dunno how much would they pay for them. Or at least they could establish their own subsidiary after few years and not this early (I think that the profits could not reach such huge numbers back then).

[170728 Kstyle] B.A.P, Album “UNLIMITED” after 1 year & 3 months… Keywords and memories around the 13 tracks

B.A.P have released their album “UNLIMITED” in Japan on June 28 after approximately 1 year and 3 months. From familiar sounds to new pieces like “WAKE ME UP”, as well as Jongup and Daehyun’s solo songs, it’s constructed with 13 varied tracks.

At Kstyle, we asked them about key words and memories surrounding the 13 songs that are included on the album, and followed their ‘UNLIMITED’ musicality and charms.

“UNLIMITED”

YG: This will be our second album in Japan. I think it’s a work that can show the diversity of B.A.P’s music. Furthermore, the title “UNLIMITED” means that there is no limit to B.A.P’s music.

1. FREAKY SOUND

――There are many meanings to the word “FREAKY”, so which one does this song refer to? DH: That’s true, I think the interpretation of FREAKY will differ depending on who you’re asking, but I think it’s fine as long as the person listening enjoys it with how they understand it as. “FREAKY SOUND” has a different image to what B.A.P has shown till now; it’s a song that fun and yet has a unique atmosphere, so I think the fans will come to like this new feel.

――There are the lyrics “an insane party”, have the B.A.P members had an insane party before? DH: We don’t have parties, but we often gather together and play around, so I guess you could call that a party in our circumstance. Right, Jongup? JU: Yes, that’s right. DH: Jongup likes parties. He usually drinks when we gather and talks away, that sort of a feel. He doesn’t drink at home, so we gather up somewhere outdoors.

――There’s also the phrase “super crazy” in the lyrics, is there a member who you think is crazy? JU: Hmmm, it’s hard to find something to use as a standard….. (laughs), but I think it’s Youngjae. Youngjae lives very properly. DH: You’re making it sound as if we don’t live properly (laughs). JU: But Youngjae really lives exemplarily, so on the reverse I think that’s crazy. I’m the opposite. ZL: In a good way I think Jongup is super crazy. Because he’s able to do anything very well.

2. SKYDIVE

――The Korean version of this song had a MV over 10 minutes long which gave a lasting impression, please tell us again what the story was about. DH: We were comrades of the same organisation, but there was a traitor within us. That traitor kidnapped my girlfriend and gave me instructions like to kill the other members. I carry out those missions. After that, there’s a scene where our group meet with the police and [we realise] Jongup is the traitor who joined forces with the police. JU: I’m ‘super crazy’ (laughs). ALL: (laughs) YJ: I die because of Jongup (laughs) DH: There’s a scene of Youngjae being shot by Jongup.

――It’s created just like a “Noir film’. HC: You’re right. If there’s the chance, I’d like to act in one of those movies. I think we’ll be able to act well if we get an offer!

3. NOW (Jongup Solo)

――Continuing on, “NOW” is Jongup’s solo song isn’t it. JU: This was a song that I created with my friend and released in Korea, which was then translated into Japanese. It’s the first time for my own song to be included in a Japanese album, and since I love Japanese animes and songs, I think it’s a great honour and a good experience.

――You released a project album with Daehyun in Korea and had solo promotions, how was that? JU: I wanted to perform for the fans sake, so I’m happy if they watched over it warmly. It was a new challenge for me too, and I want to continue showing my cool side to everyone.

4. WAKE ME UP

――You came back as a ‘complete unity with 6’ with this song, and also had activities in Japan after a long time as 6 in April. How was going around Japan after a while as 6? YG: Promoting with all 6 members was a fun and precious time. The flying kisses event was fun too.

――The “flying kisses event” is a very rare one, how did it feel to actually experience it? DH: It was probably the first time ever for us. YJ: It was fun! HC: The fans looked embarrassed didn’t they. DH: Isn’t that because the one who did [the flying kiss] it was embarrassed? (laughs) HC: Is that so? I did my flying kisses like a pro (laughs) DH: They might’ve been embarrassed because you did it so professionally (laughs). We were all separated so I don’t know how the other fans reacted, but all my fans were very happy.

5. FIRE FLAME

――What sort of song is this? DH: Along with “FREAKY SOUND”, I view this song as one that we challenged to show a new side to B.A.P. We challenged it by incorporating popular music styles of that time and since it’s a very refined song, I hope everyone will like it.

――It sounded like a mix of EDM and hiphop, something that I felt was a rare tune for B.A.P. DH: Hmm, I wonder~ The producer is sitting right here (laughs) (looks at Yongguk) YG: It’s not really EDM. I think it’s a song that has a more lounge music feel.

6. BE HAPPY

――This song has a different image to other B.A.P tracks and is an upbeat party tune with a funky element. YG: Yes, I wanted to create a song that made one happy so I composed this.

――How did the members feel when they first heard it? HC: Very happy, and I felt powerful vibes. ZL: We hadn’t done any funky songs like this before so I liked it, and I was able to sing it happily. DH: I remember that we had a lot of fun when we were recording it too. HC: That’s right, we finished the recording whilst enjoying ourselves.

――Going with the title “BE HAPPY”, what moments do you feel happy at? YJ: I honestly feel happy when I sing “BE HAPPY” on stage.   DH: That’s right, it’s very fun to sing this song so it feels like we’re playing around together [on stage]. HC: When I wake up, and see that I can still sleep a bit more. JU: When I look at B.A.P’s dreams (thinking about our future) with all 6 of us. ALL: Ohh~ that’s right! DH: Also the other day, it was my birthday and I was happy when the members celebrated it with me. Himchan treated me to drinks. We drank it at the hotel.

7. GOOD TIME

――What’s the 7th track “GOOD TIME” like? DH: Just like the title, it’s a ‘good time’. YJ: That doesn’t explain anything (laughs) ALL: (laughs) DH: When I listened to it, I felt at ease and I think it’s a healing song.

――When did you feel happy lately? DH: I’m currently preparing for the musical “Napoleon”. It’s my first time to challenge a musical, but I’m enjoying myself preparing for it, so I hope many of you come to watch! ZL: Right now I’m addicted to dramas. It’s really been a while since I’ve watched something straight from the first episode. I’m watching a drama called “Fight for My Way”. It’s not only interesting, I’ve fallen for the charms of the characters in the show and I’m enviously thinking that I’d like to try acting this sort of role whilst watching. The theme of the whole drama, and not only Park Seojoon’s character is very attractive. I watched it since it was popular, and got addicted straight away.

8. FEEL SO GOOD

――The 8th track is “FEEL SO GOOD” which you had previously released as a single. What sort of times do you feel hyped up? YG: Exactly right now (laughs) DH: For me I guess it’s when I finish all my schedules and go home to sleep.

――Do you get excited when you drink too? HC: That’s right, but I also have serious conversations when I drink, so I drink quietly during those times. It [how I am] depends on what we’re talking about at that time. YJ: He gets really high when it’s a fun topic.

――Is there a member who has a habit of acting a certain way after they drink? HC: Hmmm, I don’t think there are any drinking habits in particular. DH: You do have some don’t you Himchan. He’ll end up paying the bill. (laughs) HC: I don’t know why I end up doing that though (laughs). I really have to fix this habit (laughs).

9. I GUESS I NEED U

――In this song too, there’s the word “alcohol” at the very beginning of the lyrics, who’s the strongest drinker between the members? ALL: *all look at YG* HC: But in terms of volume, Jongup drinks a bit too doesn’t he? JU: It’s “unlimited” (laughs) ALL: (laughs) DH: But he gets drunk though HC: He gets drunk but he stays till the end. Lately I leave midway because it gets tough (laughs) DH: The ones who can drink are Jongup and Yongguk hyung, but Yongguk hyung doesn’t get drunk. I’ve never seen him drunk. HC: You’d probably never know even if he was drunk. YJ: Though in my mind, I think Yongguk hyung is drunk when he says “I’m not drunk” (laughs). ALL: (laughs) YJ: Yongguk hyung doesn’t say if he’s drunk or if he’s not drunk, but I feel like if people around him ask “are you drunk?”, he’ll take no notice when he’s sober, and deny with “I’m not drunk” when is a little drunk. (laughs) YG: (bitter smile) ALL: (laughs) DH: But he doesn’t change much from usual. YJ: Everyone else changes when they’re drunk. HC: Jongup’s aegyo increases. YJ: Yes, it makes me want to hit him (laughs). ALL: (laughs) JU: I don’t really know [remember] though (laughs) YJ: I’m scared of drunk Jongup. DH: You’re scared even though he has more aegyo? YJ: Yeah, it’s different from usual so it’s scary (laughs). He starts with “hehe”, then “hehe, hyung do you want to drink some? Hehe”. That’s how he talks and that’s scary (laughs) ALL: (laughs)

10. 1004

――I think the 10th track “1004” is a song with many memories for everyone. HC: We won first place with this song on music shows. I think it was on “SHOW CHAMPION”. And then we ordered Korean food on that day, but it tasted really bad (laughs). I suddenly remembered that just then (laughs). ALL: (laughs) YJ: Was that so, I don’t remember (laughs). We were invited to award shows for this song too. When we won first place, I don’t think I was able to process that properly and feel the joy. Looking back at footage from then, it was the first time for us to win first place after debuting for 2 years, and yet I was expressionless, and not very happy looking. I think it was because it didn’t feel real. It’s a bit of a shame looking at that now.

――That’s from 3 years ago now. Comparing now to then, what are things that you think have changed? ZL: Back then I was 19 years old, and now I’m 22 years old. Although it was only 1 year to go from my teens to my 20s, I think it was a time full with change. That’s why I think I’ve matured compared to then. YJ: I’ve learnt a lot and I think I’ve changed how I think about things too.

11. YOU (Daehyun solo)

――The 11th track is Daehyun’s solo song “YOU”. I heard it was a song prepared for the Japanese fans. DH: When I made this song, I thought about how I would show it to the fans. We also had a Japanese concert upcoming during that period. I love Japanese ballads and although it’ll be a first, I decided to deliver this song in Japanese to the Japanese fans. Then I performed it in the concert, and received a good response from the fans, and hence we came to including this song in the album as well. The members also told me “it’s a good song” when I performed it at the concert.

――Is there a particular Japanese ballad that you like? DH: Firstly I really like Nakashima Mika’s “Yuki no Hana” which was remade in Korea. Other than that, I often listen to ballads mainly by female singers like Namie Amuro.

12. WITH YOU

――I believe this is an indispensable song during concerts. YJ: That’s right. It’s a song that represents our feelings when we’re with our fans. It’s a song that both we and our fans can relate to. HC: It’s our fan song. To us, and to the fans, it’s a song that gives us energy, and so it’s become a song that must be performed and can’t be missed from concerts.

13. FLY HIGH

――The last track is “FLY HIGH”. Just like the title, all of you have been flying around the world on the world tour. Have there been any memorable countries? JU: Paris was memorable for me. We had some free time in Paris and I was able to do some shopping and eat good food so it was fun. YJ: I ate risotto, lobster, steak and such with Yongguk hyung. We thought it was a nice restaurant and went inside, but it really was a great restaurant. DH: Talking about concerts, it’s hard to choose one. The cheering style and other things differ depending on the country, but in the end, the fact that they’re supporting us remains the same and all of that is meaningful to us, and I’m very grateful to everyone. We’re into our 6th year now and it’s been a long time, and on top of that our hiatus was long too. That’s why I thought fans wouldn’t come to see us like they have, but honestly, so many fans came to our concert, and that alone was very satisfying.

―― Now finally, how “FLY HIGH” [high do you want to fly] in the future? YG: There’s no concrete goal, and like this album title, I’d like to be limitless and be able to go anywhere. ALL: Ohh~! (claps)

park seonho ( 17 ) [ leader / vocalist / dancer ] -- every group of lost boys need a peter pan to light their way and that’s exactly who seonho is to his fellow members. a prankster and moodmaker, seonho is young but never underestimate his skills or abilities as an idol; he works hard and trains hard ( always worried about being a burden and even more so when the expectation that he will do well looms over him as he is the ceo’s nephew ). also watch out for his screaming rubber chickens...they can be amusing but also really annoying

mo jihoon ( 17 ) [ vocalist ] -- no, he’s not the same age as seonho ( jihoon has an early birthday ). a former child actor that entered the company around the same time as seonho, he didn’t expect his acting career to turn into one of singing and dancing but he didn’t mind it. he’s met new friends and learned new things, he just wishes he’s learned how not to fall prey to seonho’s rubber chickens.

chang wenchang ( 16 ) [ rapper ] -- going by WEN, he hails from tainan, taiwan; despite being far from home, he doesn’t let that dampen his spirit. a creative rapper and described as silly by his fellow members, wen is fun-loving and always open to learning. he is one of the few members that speak more than one language ( english, mandarin and korean ).

caden lee ( 21 ) [ vocalist / visual ] -- also known as lee-jhumma for his motherly tendencies, he takes it upon himself to watch over the younger members as he is one of the eldest. caden is caring and attentive to his members, always making sure they’re taken care of before he is, he takes his responsibility as the eldest seriously and with great pride. caden is one of the few that can speak english and chinese fluently.

kwon daeyeol ( 19 ) [ rapper / hidden vocalist ] -- described as being vastly different in personality on and off stage, daeyeol is a charismatic rapper on stage but a timid male off stage. often found near chankyu, daeyeol is the silent member of the group -- never speaking much but he is slowly learning how to open up. as much as his rapping is strong, his singing voice is soft and lulling ( as seonho had attested ).

hwang kwangsoo ( 17 ) [ rapper / dancer ] -- a male with a dream, a man with a passion, kwangsoo is a quiet male by nature but when he has a microphone in hand, that’s when the real magic happens.

felix lee ( 17 ) [ rapper ] -- a shy male with a great smile, his heavily accented korean only attributes to his cuteness. insecure about his freckles and his inaccurate pronunciation, felix is trying his best to adapt to his life in korea.

yang sul ( 16 ) [ rapper / vocalist / dancer ] -- a triple threat with great looks, what more can a fan ask for !? yang sul or more commonly known as YOUNG SOUL in the industry is a male with a kind heart and a man with a dream he hopes to accomplish with his newfound friends.

lee chankyu ( 18 ) [ dancer / rapper / vocalist ] -- also known as Q by his friends, he’s a passionate dancer who’s skills knows no bounds. a veteran trainee that was part of another company, he turned to yeoneo for a new start; described as someone who’s not who he seems, never underestimate lee chankyu or you’ll be in for a ( pleasant ) surprise.

moon bin ( 19 ) [ vocalist / dancer ] -- formerly an actor, moon bin is praised for his natural singing capabilities and for his good looks. a quick learner, he takes on choreography easily and most definitely the happy virus of the group ( with his bright smile and cheery words ).

An Album to Check Out: #DellaYassine An #AlbumReview of 'CrasH Talk' by Schoolboy Q: ________ 'CrasH Talk' is the latest album by West Coast Hip-Hop artist Schoolboy Q. This album offers a level of variety of Schoolboy Q's many styles that he has been putting out since he came out, ranging from his rough and bulky edge in songs like the opener 'Gang Gang,' 'Die Wit Em,' and 'Numb Numb Juice' which have a pretty trap heavy production punched up by his hard-hitting delivery, to the laid-back and sinister tracks like 'Tales,' and the closing song 'Attention' that is elevated by its introspective content. Also, there are a few mainstream-reaching tracks like 'CHopstix' with Travis Scott and 'Drunk' featuring 6LACK, both of which are not necessarily good for they project the intent to be borderline cynical. Plus, a sleekly contemporary West Coast sound in 'Lies' with a hook from Ty Dolla $ign and a contribution from YG.
