LEVY “LIKE THAT” MCGARDEN HCS | for @ray-desoleil and for me too lol
- Natsu and Lucy brought Daybreak back to the guild so that Levy could use her magic to break the spell on it. Lucy gave Levy a share of what her and Natsu earned.
- Inspired by that one official sketch from Mashima, Levy is very skilled at shooting and gunslinging in general. She goes on jobs with Bisca and Alzack sometimes when she’s not up for a group mission with Shadowgear.
- Speaking of Shadowgear, they have broken up multiple times, most initiated on Levy’s part because you can take the girl out of the feral environment but you can’t take the feral out of the girl (The feral: Growing up with Natsu Dragneel)
- Trains with the Thunder Legion on the regular. Bickslow doesn’t like Jet and Droy. Freed just wants to have someone to rant and yap about Word Magic to, to which Levy provides.
- Levy is secondary human google. The primary human google is Freed.
- Levy shot one of the council members when she was a kid because they made Gray cry.
- All the Guild Kids have gotten kidnapped. No, I will not elaborate.
- Levy’s bandanas can also double as effective restraints for any type of magic EXCEPT Dragon Slayer, God Slayer, and Demon Slayer.
- I’ve said this before but imma say it again, Freed took Levy on as an apprentice after the events of the Grand Fairy Tail Fight.
- When Gajeel got accepted into the guild, she did get her get back. She made him swallow non-iron bullets via her gun. Best believe the Fairy Tail Guild Kids were wooping and hollering. Lucy started screaming. Makarov banned Levy from missions for a month and a half afterwards but in everyone else’s eyes and hers, it was worth it.
- The real moment when Gajeel fell for her was when she flipped him on his ass in a fight.
- Levy rewrote the Book of E.N.D.
- She chopped her hair short as a kid in Fairy Tail. It used to be down to her ankles.
- All the dragon slayers like to have Levy with them in a fight because as long as she had magic, she’s walking fuel for them.
- Levy and Jellal are cousins, sorry I don’t make the rules, they just are.
- Her wardrobe consists entirely of cargo pants, compression shirts, fingerless gloves, and belts of many kinds and colors with matching holsters for her guns.
- Locks up the alcohol cabinet with runes after she learns from Freed, just so Fairy Tail as a whole can lower their alcohol budget.
- Is on ‘Make sure Natsu doesn’t eat all our rations’ duty when it’s a Guild Kids Only mission.
- Natsu’s second favorite. The first? Gray.
- Puts her books in alphabetical order instead of arranging them from series to stand alone.
- Can sew and stitch, the Guild Kids’ jackets have emblems and symbols all over them.
- Is the reason why Gajeel wears headbands.
- Gave Gajeel bangs by accident.
- Has matching piercings with the OG 5 (Cana, Gray, Natsu, Her, and Erza, in order of joining)
- Calls Romeo “Lover Boy” based on the story, it drives Romeo insane and it gives her joy.
- Gave Romeo his middle name.
- Fought Macao over parental rights. Romeo interrupted and proudly said that all the Guild Kids are his parents/older siblings. They all cried.
- Nails grow fast, but has a problem with chipping them a lot so she gets acrylics.

sting and rogue....rogue WILLINGLY giving himself to sting knowing that he would finish the job. so much trust, faith , vulnerability... THEYRE. IN . LOVE.
if mashima had even a fraction of the ft fandom's brain with writing characters the world would be a glorious place...LMAOOO
anon you just fed gasoline to my brainrot I hope you're satisfied
Every time I think how poetic these two and how canon they are not I'm at risk of combustion
Yes, Rogue willingly gave up his power knowing how dangerous it was to Sting because he's the only one he trusts to not succumb to it and very likely hinted because he knows what future Rogue did to Sting and he's set to avoid that ending at any cost and he makes me SICK
But actually I need to talk about Sting too because not everyone realizes he too gave himself up for Rogue (and sabertooth for that matter) in so many occasions, Rogue wants to avoid Sting dying at any cost but Sting IS willing to die for him -and tecnically, he did, but that's a brainrot for another day lmao-
My very favorite example is the Larcade fight of course.
It was set that he needed to win, not for himself -which is a huge estatement, comparing it to Sting during the games- but for the pride sabertooth lost because of what he thinks him, he's set on winning however it takes for the rest of the people there, so much that he even knocked them out to take all of Larcade's attacks on his own
The moment that absolutely breaks me is this one right here, he wasn't thinking about himself during the war, he was thinking about fairy tail of all things, because he needs to repay how they saved his guild
Tumblr media
And then Rogue shows up and inmediately demands Sting to eat his power -which makes me think for how long had Rogue planned this out-
And maybe I'm reading far too much into it idk but for a moment Sting looks unsure of taking it, one because he doesn't think he can hold that much power -again, probably compraing himself to Natsu or Gajeel-
Tumblr media
but also if you think about it, he knows better than anyone what the shadows mean to Rogue, it must've shocked him how willing Rogue was of just, letting him take them after everything he's been through but then again he must've thought "if he's giving me his power, then that means there's no one else who can do it" and that's enough, that's all he needs to take the magic that is (and was) able to destroy the world in his hands because Rogue asked him to
Tumblr media
And then the parallels between future Rogue and Sting, the way Rogue looks completely smitted because he knows, he probably has more confidence than Sting on winning, because he said it himself, if there's anyone who's able to will the shadows or kill them, it's him
but most of all it's the fact that Sting is most likely unaware of this, he's blind to the effect he has on Rogue -and others- and probably just thinks it's his duty to take everything for the sake of others because it's what he deserves for being sabertooth's master -which also it's probably an unconcious thought of "punishing" the sabertooth master that hurt so many people, even if it wasn't him, again, brainrot for another day-

Hey random question but you as frustrated as I am that Lamia has not had a single appearance in 100 year quest? Even Kagura had a single panel with speech but the Lamia Crew (other than an image with Toby on the toilet) has none!
Thank you for the ask! 💕
Let me preface what I’m about to say because this fandom can be a little bit up in arms about this; I have no ill will in saying this towards anyone, this is simply my opinion. I’m fine with discussions on this topic, but I will not tolerate unnecessary hate if it comes.
Moving on…confession time. I haven’t read the 100 YQ. I’ve been avoiding it because Gruvia makes me really uncomfortable for reasons I’m not going to get into in this post, and to my understanding it’s filled with it now that it’s canon. Yes, when a ship is canon it’ll get page time, but I can’t stomach this ship at all. Again, it makes me viscerally uncomfortable.
On the topic of Lamia Scale, I’m always down for more content with them. I love the entire crew so so much. But knowing Hiro Mashima, the appearance would be centered around Lyon and Juvia. While Luvia doesn’t make me uncomfortable like Gruvia does, I don’t like it—I personally feel like the entire thing completely destroyed everything established about Lyon’s character, and I might make a full analysis about it one day, but this fandom scares me and I’m not in the mood to get into internet fights over ships. I have a job and stories to write and summer classes to focus on.
In an ideal world I’d love more content with them. There’s so much to explore with the Lamia Scale crew as a team and individual characters, Gray and Lyon’s relationship has so much nuance and I love to analyze the scenes they have together.
But personally, with the direction the series has taken in regard to these characters (Sherry please come home we miss you. Yuka and Toby deserve so so much more. Like just a smidge of backstory I’m begging you. Jura as a mentor figure PLEASE. Lyon’s growth as a character is so compelling and yet you focus on this stupid jealousy plot that completely undermines his past and current goals—), I don’t think I’d actually like the scenes written.
This is all my personal opinion! Again, I’m not trying to shame anyone who likes/read 100 YQ. I want to read it, I do, but again…Gruvia…
Respectfully, if any Gruvia shippers see this and feel the need to argue with me, I am entitled to my opinion even if you disagree with it. Nothing you say will make me support this ship for a plethora of reasons that would make this post way, way too long. Lets save both of our energy. The Gruvia tag is waiting for you to consume all the content to your hearts content.
Again, thank you for the ask! Have a good day peeps. 💕

Quick Notes: Chapter 545.5
Well, here we are again. It's always such a pleasure.
I wasn't planning to do this, but since EZ ended AND I'll likely get asked about it, I might as well bring this back for one more time.
Let's go!
It's crazy to see the request for the Century Quest just out on the job board. I know they can do some S-Class missions post-Tower of Heaven, but that should be kind of hidden.
It's good to see Mashima's seen the error of his ways and given Natsu his scar back. Yes, I'm still not over that after all these years.
It's been a while since we've got this explanation, but I still remember these things. Because, of course.
See? This is why this mission should have been off the regular job board.
Lucy wrote the book, got the award for the book, but it somehow isn't selling it well? This award might be in the spirit of his broke AF son.
Stuff like Levy deciding not to tell Gajeel she's pregnant and Levy telling people before they leave messes with the timeline of this series.
Gray losing every article of clothing in a panel fighting Natsu is the kind of shenanagins I've been missing from EZ.
We get one panel of Lisanna and it takes me three reads to notice it's actually her. Mashima never fails to disappoint.
I guess Ichiya spent time away from his boyfriend Mosco to be here. Hey, Mashima made the Twitter sketch of them kissing. Isn't that how it works, Nalu fans?
It's always good to see the Connells in a panel. Fine. I guess we're even, Mashima.
Part of me is mad that the Jellal trick worked at all. Another part of me thinks this was the funniest joke in the chapter.
Honestly, of all the hiding spots they could pick, Lucy's apartment might be the worst.
"What's Ichiya doing here?!" Thing I said out loud somehow makes it into the chapter a few pages later than I said it. We're all getting older, I guess.
Is it a good thing or a bad thing that Wendy's acting more like the other guild members? I wonder how Irene feels about this...
At first, it was shocking to see Erza in this house. Now, it's shocking to see how messy Natsu's house is. Fanfics have really spoiled me over the past few years.
This brings up an interesting point. The team might have gotten the all-clear for the Century Quest if Natsu could somehow convince Erza to take it.
On second thought, I get why he stole the request.
Listen, the existence of the sequel shows that they had to get permission for the Century Quest.
It's somewhat surreal to see the last panels of the final chapter before seeing the last page of this chapter.
Honestly, this was fun to do again. Don't expect any more of these again.
See you!

Hihi! I was wondering if you have any headcanons of LaxusXNatsu and what their wedding would look like? Or if Natsu was dying -dark I know. Pls pls pls. It's such a rare pair and it's murdering me. 🥺
Tumblr media
For the wedding:
Laxus proposed. He basically had to--even when in a serious relationship, Natsu isn't thinking about the future, only the present. He may have had a crush on Laxus forever, but once they were together, he was basically content with life. Laxus was the one who wanted his family history to legally include Natsu.
Their initial plan is to go for a summer wedding, given that it's Natsu's favorite season, but once they decide to go with an outdoor wedding, they change it to October, so it'll be more pleasant out.
They set it and time it perfectly for firefly season, so that by the time of the reception, the air is full of flickering yellow-green lights. Fireflies (🔥) are also called lightning bugs (⚡), in case you didn't know.
They both wear white suits. They double up on boutonnieres, Natsu with a pink rose and Laxus with a large sunflower, both accented with sagiso. Women and men alike that attend will attest to the fact that Laxus and Natsu in their respective fits set a new standard for looking straight-up ideal.
Natsu is not having one of those bullshit-ass giant cakes you're not actually even supposed to eat. Buttercream, thank you very much, and everyone gets two slices. But, they also serve baked Alaskas at the reception.
Gray and Lucy are double-booked as the photographers. They take their jobs very seriously and Gray even trains for it.
Little Asuka is given the title of flower girl, and no one would dare dream of taking it from her.
The rings: Natsu's ring is made of stainless steel coated with yellow gold, and bearing a sunstone set into it, while Laxus is given a polished black titanium band with a gold belt running through it.
Neither one of them really gets used to the word 'husband' very quickly. Although they modify their last names as Dreyar-Dragneel, they still go by their given surnames most of the time.
Natsu dying:
You read Breathe so I know you know how I'd write this.
This one kinda depends on, you know, how Natsu is dying.
Natsu dying of wounds in battle gets a very heels-dug-in response. You know, denial, telling him to hang on, trying to drag him away from any danger.
Natsu dying in a more undignified manner, on a sickbed or whatnot, gets a more muted response. All he can really do is be at Natsu's side, so that's what he does. No, he won't be doing it naked--thanks for that, Mashima.
Natsu isn't just a lover for Laxus or for anyone else; he's basically the face of the Fairy Tail guild, and a strong source of hope and inspiration. The idea of him dying is very, very depressing and can impact morale, even for someone as undefeatable as Laxus.
This is so depressing, we're stopping here.

Ship Bias 👀👉👈
Tumblr media
Send ‘Ship Bias’ and I will share up to 5 a Ship I have a bias for my muse! | Accepting!
Tumblr media
REMIDY, DO I NEED TO REMIND YOU THAT WE ARE APPROACHING THE 11TH ANNIVERSARY OF THIS FUCKING SHIP. DO I NEED TO REMIND YOU THAT I LITERALLY EAT SLEEP AND BREATHE THESE TWO FUCKERS, THAT WE HAVE BUILT THEM FROM NOTHING, LESS THAN SCRAPS THAT MASHIMA GIVES US, AND ALL BECAUSE THEY WERE CONFIRMED TO BE CANONICALLY PARTNERS? AND THAT'S ALL IT TOOK? BECAUSE IF SO
--then I'll be happy to share with the class about their relationship. So~ let's chat about Loke and Cana~.
We ( because I cannot take credit while my beautiful partner here has been a major contributor to how Normal I am about these two <3 ) have written so much lore between these two that I'm afraid people might mistake it as actual canon material alkdfja but based off just canon alone, I'll address some key points that are the reason why they have lived in my fucking head for the past 11 years and continue to rotate like a slow cooked rotisserie chicken.
Lets talk about the fact that these two have actually worked on jobs together as partners. Partners. That says a lot to me given that Cana has, for the most part, been drinking at the guild so we don't really see her out on jobs. However, we do know from canon that Loke has taken jobs with Gray, and huh, isn't it interesting that Loke seemed to be comfortable enough to partner with only one girl out of everyone residing within the guild? I find that so fascinating considering how he's portrayed as a womanizer in canon, has had women hanging on his arms that look very similar to Cana in not only style, but almost their hair color and possibly eye color. Hm. Very Interesting.
Also interesting is the fact that ( at least in the manga ) that during the Phantom Lord arc, when they're facing against the Shade Soldiers, Cana is given the task to hold the line against their assault and guess who stands beside her, go on, I'll give you a minute.
Unfortunately, that is the extent of their canon interactions but that doesn't stop my delusions from projecting <3 uwu
A lot of the content that is related to developing their characters and interactions with each other is solely between Remidy and I, so there is a lot of 'Lokana Lore' that is still unreleased? But the delusions have painted a perfect picture of them, they have started out as acquaintances and have reluctantly become friends-by-association to actually being friends. And then, becoming partners for jobs, Cana learned how to fight and support Loke while he would also do the same for her. Not just anyone would do that, especially not Loke, who wouldn't go out of his way for any woman unless they were exceptionally strong, smart, and clever, as well as beautiful, and my girl meets the fucking marks babes <3
Or the fact that Cana has never gone on another partner mission with anyone else except Loke and after that time, she takes no other missions with another partner, except to go on solo missions. Hm. Curious.
Also curious is that Loke made a comment about how 'scary' Cana can be while he and Gray were competing in the S-Class Trials in Tenroujima, or the fact that when after Loke defeated a possessed Capricorn she knew he would be okay. Their trust in each other and knowledge of each other as individuals comes from their time as partners but boy it sure is curious that they know each other that well, almost intimately so. Hm, wow, so interesting. I wonder what that could mean.
Anyways I love them, your honor, I love that in the brief mention of canon that they were partners, there is so much left unsaid and open to interpretation. Well Mashima, call the fucking interpreters, cause me and Remi are here.
Loke and Cana as characters alone are so nuanced and good on their own. Loke and Cana together are a force that no one would expect to be content with, but boy, you best believe they will leave you pleasantly surprised, in both a platonic sense and as a romantic ship. It certainly has for me and Remi~.
Anyways! Hope this answers any questions ( and I won't elaborate any further, you'll have to tune in for the next lore drop <3 :3 ) byeee!

Rambling about Fairies - Manga Chapter 165
Tumblr media
So it’s something that’s bothered me a bit-- Aries has a belt and pouch in the manga, and it makes her look a little more resourceful and workman-like than her anime counterpart. I like the contrast between it and her simple white fluffy dress, because it gives her a good design balance.
(She has it in the Angel fight and in her Edolas appearance in the anime, but I don’t believe she has it anytime else including all future appearances and the Karen flashback. She always has it in the manga.)
It makes her look a little younger and cuter, I think?
As it is in the anime, her scenes are always more emphasized on her offshoulder top and curves which annoys me because, she’s so cute and sexy already, you don’t need to emphasize her boobs and hips, geez. It’s like “wooly cute wooly cute” was the only thing they wanted to tell the audience about her, not the literal work pouch she has to express her sincerely hardworking side.
It’s a different appeal, you know? The cute thing about her is how meek and shy she acts, so she doesn’t need three times of badoonkazoonkas. Her first appearance in the anime looks kind of wonky because her boobs were bigger than her face, and she had a One Piece reminiscent pencil waist. That is not a good thing.
Tumblr media
Her later appearances are fine, they fixed the proportions to look more reasonable and petite, but first impressions matter, you know?
Anyway, with the belt in the manga, it’s almost like she’s actually here to work, and I like that. She emphasizes firsthand, in both of her appearances thus far, that she takes her job seriously despite the odds (against Leo) and she is not here to do things outside her job description like service men (against Karen).
I wish that this part of her personality, which shows she’s not just a damsel in distress but also a genuinely earnest worker, was developed further. But alas.
Anyways, I went off topic. I wanted to talk about everyone.
Tumblr media
Can we talk about the fact that Scorpio’s tail is clearly a fucking machinegun???
I think he uses it to shoot sand, but, literal ability-type magic looks like that. He could have been shooting it out of his tail and we’d believe it because we’ve seen hands and vases shoot out similar vortexes of elements, so why does it look like a machinegun? Heck, Lucy can do all this with just her hands in her star dress, too!
I want to see him prepping and charging up a energy laser blaster of sand, at least.
I understand now why the Scorpio-Aquarius dress went in the mecha direction, but in the exact same way, Like, you can make it look like a gun or a mech all you want, it doesn’t feel like it works like one, you know?? Scorpio has a gun that doesn’t need to be a gun. SxA has huge machine limbs, but Lucy can’t even heavylift or efficiently tread terrains in it, so what’s the point? A cool design is pointless if it's clearly just a whimsical decoration!
I kinda want Lucy to have sci-fi laser guns in her star dress, if only just to shoot sand blasts with. Honestly that would have been better than the weird clunky metal parts. And it would feel like Rebecca, with twin guns, so it's in Mashima's nature to do as a reference for readers of both.

When I daydream/write fanfics in my head I can’t help but always imagine gray being tn’s sub. Like not even in a s*xual way, just a ‘if you won’t look after yourself we’ll look after you instead way’.
Like I imagine gray just dreading the boat ride back from Galuna because erza is angry they took the job but natsu’s angry about iced and he’ll tell erza. And what if they tell Cana? (Who started the whole thing)
Also I’m tired of the fandom minimising gray because of mashima’s stupid writing. He deserves some love for a change (and not creepy love like gruvia). He had such potential and it just shows mashima doesn’t care to remember what he’s previously written about, clearly favours other characters and fan service. For someone introduced as natsu’s rival mashima isn’t doing much. I don’t know what the fandom has against gray in general. Why is mashima so obsessed with abusive relationships? Like Gajeel literally attacked Levy and nailed her to a tree! He’s more than twice her size! And yet, somehow gajeel x levy is still better written than gray x juvia
I full heartedly get that anon and like the whole gray & juvia shit is just disgusting. There's no other word for it it's fucking horrible. And the gajeel & levy ship is just something I don't see considering levy (in my opinion) is acearo. I think it would have been better if Gajeel apologized and Levy (picked whatever option forgiveness or not) listened to it and moved on. Because they both deserve to heal. But like that's not an option for Gray apparently.
I feel like it's the worst when your favorite character is the one constantly treated like shit so badly you have to create content of other characters actually caring. It gets real exhausting.

Fairy Tail 100 Year Quest was feeling so promising until...
THAT FUCKING BULLSHIT NEWEST CHAPTER!
Let me guess, Mashima, you were too moved over Mercuphobia’s supposed death that you decided to keep him live anyway, even though Natsu literally killed him in his dragon form? Because that was your bullshit excuse for bringing Makarov back from the dead because “muh feelz” over Zeref and Mavis’ deaths.
I mean, I’m not even surprised for sure, but I was really hoping that he’ll improved after he fucked up the final arc of the original series but NOPE! Jesus Christ, dude...
Also... this is why I never bothered shipping NaLu. That ship’s been toxic since day one, and it’s going nowhere at this point. That “pee on your chest to heal you” thing has got to be one the cringiest things I’ve read from that series. Good god...

After @celestialulu 's post about Nasha's character design, I made a small and simple theory.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the official design of Nasha made by Hiro and Atsuo when she was first introduced in the manga.
Tumblr media
If we match it with Natsu and Lucy's design- Nasha has Lucy face, her eyes and the exact smile. Which is really cool. But her hair, that's where my problem starts. Her hair is made to match Natsu's spiky pink ones but the spikes seem a bit off to me at least. It would be better if she had curly or even straight(as Lucy's) pink hair or a mix of pink and blonde maybe?
Let's take a look at Greige's official design and his parents'-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Greige has Juvia's eyes(the lower lashes were more prominent in her old design) and the natural expressions of Gray. His hair colour is a mix of them- light Blue and Raven. Which I think is cool in terms of design.
Tumblr media
Greige doesn't have any specific thing which reflects either Gray or Juvia instead he's actually a mix of both. Hiro did a good job here.
Now Justin's turn-
Tumblr media
Justin has big eyes like Erza and almost the same smile as her. His hair color is obviously a mix of his parents- Blue and Red/Scarlet. It's straight as his mother's and the edges are like his Jellal's.
Tumblr media
Hiro also did a good job here I'd say. He's a mix of both Erza and Jellal.
My speculations are : when Mashima first time tried to draw the new gen kids, or when he tried to draw Nasha, he explicitly reflected Natsu's design onto her. Even in his recent video he used Nasha as a reference to how children usually inherit either their mother or father's hair colour. Imo he just wanted to actually make it look like Natsu's child before he did something cool and unique with her.
I think Nasha wearing Natsu's scarf really made sense(kudos to Hiro) and her having her mother's looks, expressions was also cool. But the hair and the outfit bothers me, esp the outfit. I mean having pink hair is perfectly fine like I said but the spikes are funny? Why're they like that anyway?
And the outfit is absolutely ridiculous. As I stated before, Hiro really wanted Nasha to look like a daddy's girl so he went out of his way to give her Natsu's vest(?!) and then just added Lucy's top.
Tumblr media
I can totally see in each of the kids that Mashima likes to reflect their parents' attributes/clothing styles onto their own. Greige has Gray's fur coat and Juvia also wears furry clothes, Justin has a Blue suit and a red tie.
Tumblr media
But you don't just go and pick their father's vest and mother's top and put it on them Hiro.
I think Edo Nasha's clothes are way better than the og one. She has a designed scarf with flames on it which refers to her Edo Natsu's og design and it's also his attribute. I wonder if we'll go back to the vest and top one once we get our Nasha(?!)
There's nothing to say about Greige since his clothes are the same, it matches both Gray and Edo Gray's design.
All in all, I can die for my babies' baby but I'm sad that Hiro didn't do justice to her design. He could do far better than this. I'm never wrong to express my disappointment about a character I love that could receive more.
Imo, Griege and Justin's designs are done better than Nasha's.

Okay here’s the next one. So,
Fairy Tail
Favorite character: Ooooo this is a tough one. Erik is very high up there, but Natsu is also very high up, and he’s got more canon material than Erik for sure. Honestly, I started watching the show because of Natsu’s pure love for his dragon dad and his ability to be reckless and emotionally literate at the same time, so he gets a special place in my heart just for that. Plus I am a sucker for the chaotic energy.
Least Favorite character: Richard Buchanan. I don’t understand. He gets literally magicked into being a good guy by something that’s supposed to turn somebody into the complete opposite of what they are, and now he’s just a swell guy that talks about love? And we’re supposed to be okay with that? “Oh dear oh me where is my little brother?” You were on the same island for years including after the cult was booted how do you not know where—?!
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Alright time to play the “how will the non-shippy person respond?” game. Ummm... Honestly, most of the FT ships depends on context for me? Sometimes it’s cool and sometimes it’s weird. Though if I had to pick some that I am usually down to see or read, I’d go with Gajevy, Albis, and maybe Jerza, Stingue, and Zervis? (Oh, and Seilah/Kyouka are sexy in a bad-guy kind of way, so good for them.)
Character I find most attractive: Okay so I’ve spent too long thinking of these characters as my babies, so I don’t think I can answer that question. But as far as who I think has a neat aesthetic/character design that I vibe with, it’s Loke’s human design. Lad’s in a parka, t-shirt, and jeans and that slaps. Good for him.
Character I would marry: Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Ur. (No I don’t want to talk about the inevitable tragedy, but woman knows what she’s about and she’s got that special honest brand of mom energy that’s not condescending, and I dunno, I vibe with that.)
Character I would be best friends with: Mystogan. We’d never talk and vibe in silence and then bond over the stray cat that we are definitely both feeding.
A random thought: The Magic Council is strangely efficient, despite seeming not to do anything, since they managed to become a global superpower when just a hundred years ago, mages were being hunted for sport. And since there’s not any lingering anti-mage sentiment coded into the law system, they technically did their job pretty well. (Yes this is probably just Mashima not world-building, but it’s an interesting thought nonetheless.)
An unpopular opinion: I mean, I have a lot, but let’s go broad here: the racebuilding sucks. (Well, the world-building in general, but that’s not a surprise. Mashima I love you man but we all know you didn’t plan out your world.) But this specifically crops up with the demons. We hear about demons mostly through the context of Zeref’s demons and Mirajane’s experiences, both of which paint them as bad scary evil things. This is fine! This is context! We see Lullaby, and it tracks, but then we see Galuna island—the only instance in the show where we see non artificially created demons—and they’re all nice! This is a pleasant surprise! We get to address societal bias, a bias that runs so deep that even the amnesiac demons that they were hideous and they had all adapted forms to hide— Oh wait nevermind that plot point is dropped entirely and all of Zeref’s demons are treated as evil bad demons despite being normal dudes that are just prideful shits occasionally (ya know, normal traits; see: every other FT villain) but they still get treated narratively like taking them down is no different than destroying ghouls or whatnot. (Torofuzar and Seilah were even at the beginnings of understanding their moral flaws! Some of them cared about each other!!!) And then Natsu has a big ~not a monster demon~ struggle, like wtf does him being part demon matter? Aside from the latent kill-Zeref programming there is literally nothing different about demons from other rational creatures and in this essay I will— *gets dragged away from keyboard*
My Canon OTP: Gajevy. It starts off very awkward, but Gajeel just does the normal ex-bad guy thing of trying to make up for what he did to Shadowgear, because it wasn’t personal before but it’s an awkward little gesture that gets the ball rolling, and it’s pretty slow at first but there’s a developing mutual respect that they get, because Gajeel sees how strong and smart Levy is, and Levy sees how kind he can be, aaaand then they choose to banter at each other’s expense and slowly start sharing a brain cell. Mashima’s inability to write redemption arcs aside (another hot-take, no time to go there) I found the process neat. That, and Levy kicking Gajeel in the face for dying was a great scene.
My Non-canon OTP: *slaps brain to try to boot up the non-existent shipping program* Stingue I guess? I’m torn on this one, because they absolutely have a dynamic going on, and they have a yin-yang balance while also being on the same brain cell and that’s absolutely amazing, but my ace gen-loving found-family brain kicks in with the dragon slayer sibling dynamic and that supersedes the shipping glasses and then makes it awkward because I’ve been two years into an AU where they’re 12-year-old adopted brothers so... Yeah, it goes back to the different scenario thing. I don’t feel strongly about ships but I can easily brotp things. Heck, I think I brotp-ed gajevy in my fic too; they’re just gremlins that tease each other so I dunno how to ship my dudes
Most Badass Character: I mean, there are a lot of them for sure, but Erza is definitely up there. She’s a one-man army and she simultaneously doesn’t give any flips and she cares greatly about justice, and she follows through. Her Pandemonium fight was one of the reasons I gave Fairy Tail a chance, and I certainly don’t regret it. She’s versatile and extremely skilled in a number of weapons and fighting styles; mad lad. She has my respect. (Shout out to Gajeel though; dude got a sword thrust through his arm and he kept trucking. Absolute machine right there.)
Most Epic Villain: Erik’s terrible at being a villain but he’s an epic dude and I love him. Um, Acnologia was shafted as far as villains/villain arcs go, but he had the build up to be a really great fight, and his attack on Tenrou was mad cool. So there’s that. (*Pencil ignores the question and starts to ramble about her favorite AU characters*)
Pairing I am not a fan of: A lot of them, tbh, but if I’m in the business of sharing unpopular opinions, I don’t like Gruvia or Fraxus for similar reasons: they are one-sided obsessions. Yeah, sure, they have room to be some decent ships, but I’m not a fan of the “learn to love” trope when it comes to good ships. That’s what you do with, I dunno, your estranged family member. Juvia projects adoration onto Gray, and Freed projects adoration onto Laxus, and the other side seems pretty neutral (or down-right uncomfortable) about it, and as somebody who easily gets squeamish with affection, I’m not a fan. (Also I don’t normally vibe with any ship that involves Natsu, but that’s definitely because I have associated him with my own aro let’s-hit-the-found-family-button-instead tendencies and I enjoy that.)
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): All of them. I could be here all day, tbh, because a lot of Fairy Tail characters are rooted in interesting and unique characterizations, but they can be written into archeyped positions depending on the scene. However, for the sake of argument, I’ll open one of my favorite can of worms: Jellal. Jellal is shown to be a caring and optimistic young lad, despite the awful conditions, and he’s protective of his friends. But then this eleven-year-old gets beaten, tortured and taunted, and he finally has this cracking moment by himself when he lets himself get angry, and then!!! he’s immediately brainjacked by Ultear!!! Kid gets sped-run through Brainiac 5′s mind poisoning arc, and unlike with Brainiac 5, there is absolutely no one who honestly tries to beat him out of it until years later. (And Simon! Who knew something was up! Just wanted to kill him!!! *deranged pencil laughing in the back*) So when he shows up later, amnesiac and back to being a self-sacrificial pure-bean, and I’m hyped. This was the Brainy recovery arc I was robbed of when the LoSH cartoon was discontinued. We get to explore the mental repercussions of being manipulated into having ambitions and feelings that are not your own! The magical representation of intrusive thoughts and emotional manipulation! Sure, the amnesia schtick was cheap, but okay Mashima just wanted to speed it along so— NOPE. Jellal gets plucked up by Ultear (the chick who manipulated him), and then all of a sudden he’s this edgy loner who has to ~atone for his sins~ and he’s all cool and mysterious (he occasional has dork moments and I treasure them like a starving dog gathers up crumbs) and he becomes focused on justice or whatever and my dreams of an emotional recovery and re-self-discovery arc are crushed and nothing but broken glass in my hands. *muffled crying pencil noises*
Favourite Friendship: Oooo there’s so many, but sticking to canon-land, I really liked Gray and Loke’s friendship??? Dudes were content to asking no questions and just passively supporting each other, and they way they interacted on Tenrou and tag-teamed, whether in fighting or teasing, so easily was so cute. And then we never saw it again. Gray and Natsu are also a good brotp, even though it has a....rocky start.... But when they got that “nobody can mess with him but me” brother energy, I dig it.
Character I most identify with: Low-key Rogue. Dude was wall-flowering social-chameleon-ing his way through life, sticking to the fringes of conflict with this little frog sibling, and he can bounce between being forced to have all the brain cells and be the voice of reason and being a chaotic and overprotective gremlin ready to fight people. I feel it so hard.
Character I wish I could be: You know what? Rogue. I’ll take his magic and I’ll gladly beat Sting (lovingly) over the head too. Plus, Frosch. (I would say Frosch, but I do not want their sense of direction.) He gets to be low-key in charge of a guild while having none of the actual responsibility for it, and I vibe with that position. It’s all about them tag-team skills.

Nalu and Feminism:
Why Lucy Heartfilia being Natsu’s love interest isn’t as “irrelevant” to the story as the haters think.
Companion piece to Feminism in Fairy Tail with Lucy Heartfilia
Also, I will briefly discuss Gruvia. And in particular, how Juvia’s character is impacted by her relationship with Gray in comparison to Lucy with Nalu.
Okay while I was writing that long meta about how Lucy not being a fighter and serving a more emotional role in the story doesn’t make her character any less important than the fighters, I also thought about the other reason that people claim Lucy isn’t a strong female character. Because she’s Natsu’s love interest.
Now we’ve all been trained to think that when a female character in an action/sci-fi/shounen type story falls in love with and wants to be with a male character, that that somehow diminishes her character. And that adding romance to the story is unnecessary and is just pandering to shippers who they claim are only interested in the story for the romance. Which is a pretty sexist accusation considering that most (but not all) shippers tend to be women, so they’re basically saying that as women all we care about is romance and not the actual story.
But if all we cared about was romance, then why would we be so invested in a relationship between two characters that haven’t even gotten together yet in a story that isn’t centered around romance.
And if we were somehow able to force Hiro Mashima into making Nalu canon, then trust me, they would have been canon years ago! We have no power over what happens in this story in any way shape or form. Looking at you on that one Chris.
We’re invested in Fairy Tail because of the story. And the story isn’t just about fighting. It’s about personal journeys, and overcoming obstacles, and being stronger together as a team. And when you have a story that is heavily focused on teamwork, then the relationships between the characters play a huge role in that story! Those relationships are what drive the characters to become stronger, and what give them something to fight for! Their love for each other doesn’t make them weak, it’s what makes them stronger.
So yes, Lucy is Natsu’s love interest in the story. But that doesn’t mean she’s a weak character or doesn’t serve any real purpose to the story. In fact, it actually means the opposite. Her feelings for Natsu are what strengthens her character, and here’s why.
So the main argument with “pointless romance” in stories that aren’t centered around it, is that it’s forced and underdeveloped. And while that is true for some stories (mainly Western TV/movies. I honestly can’t think of any “forced” romances in the manga/anime I’ve watched tbh), in Fairy Tail that’s definitely not the case.
Honestly, nalu might be the slowest slow burn I’ve ever witnessed in a fictional story. Their relationship has tons of development, and considering they’re both the main characters of the story, that relationship is pretty important to the story.
Just think about how they first met. That was how this whole story started! Natsu saves her from being enslaved by a criminal and yes while he did go fight Bora because he was lying about being from Fairy Tail, after the fight he brings Lucy with him to join the guild. He didn’t have to do that. But he did. Natsu is the first Fairy Tail wizard that Lucy meets and he’s the one that makes her dream of joining the guild come true. It’s because of him that she finds a family that loves and accepts her and supports her. And because of that, she grows as a wizard and as a writer.
Natsu is the one who not only changed her life but also stood by her through all of that change. Ever since they met, Natsu has been there for her and she’s been there for him. So them falling in love after everything they’ve been through wouldn’t be forced at all.
No relationship in Fairy Tail is forced. Even the smaller background ones like Elfever and Albis have good development!
The main Fairy Tail story was pretty long. And when you have a story that long, you’ve got a lot of time to develop relationships. I honestly think Hiro Mashima did an amazing job of pacing the development of their relationship to having them build up to become basically irreplaceable people in their lives by the end of the story. And we see that development in both of their characters.
In stories I’ve seen where romance feels “forced”. They often only have one character (mainly the guy) showing interest in the girl and her showing no interest in having a romantic relationship with him at all, until one point near the end of the story she suddenly reciprocates those feelings without anything prompting that change or anything else she’s said or done in the story thus far leading up to that.
Yes, Lucy is often annoyed by Natsu and Happy breaking into her apartment. And yes she is sometimes annoyed by Natsu’s reckless nature. They bicker a lot in the beginning of the story. But there’s also multiple points throughout the story where both Natsu and Lucy show how much they care about each other. By the end of the GMG arc, it’s clear that they’re both important to each other. That’s why Lucy was so distraught at the thought of losing Natsu during the Alvarez arc. And that’s why thinking Lucy was dead was what triggered Natsu to become END.
So now in the 100 YQ, Lucy is starting to show more obvious signs of having a romantic interest in Natsu. And that’s not out of nowhere. That’s basically where the story left off. And the same goes for Natsu. Honestly most of us think that he probably just assumes that he and Lucy are a thing already and if that turned out to be the case, we would not be surprised!
And one final thing to people being upset about a possible romance between Natsu and Lucy in the 100 YQ. It was obviously going to happen in this sequel. The story ended basically with them basically admitting that they love each other, without saying those exact words. They’re definitely more than friends at the end of that story. And a story is only good if the characters and relationships develop further from where they began in the beginning of the story. So in the 100 YQ, the only way to develop Natsu and Lucy’s relationship further, is by them admitting their love for each other and becoming a couple. If their relationship stayed the same, then it wouldn’t be a good story because nothing would have changed from beginning to end.
Now, to people who think that Lucy being in love with Natsu means she’s not a strong character because they think that her being in love with him means that the only thing she wants to do in life is be his wife and have his babies, you’re totally wrong.
Lucy does want to get married and have a family someday, and at this point in the story we know that it’s probably going to end up being with Natsu. But that doesn’t mean that being his wife/girlfriend is or ever will be her only desire in life. She clearly has other goals. She wants to become a stronger wizard, and she’s an author and she wants to keep writing books. She can still do those things while being married to Natsu and having a family with him. And he’d support her to!
Her being in love with Natsu does not take away from those goals or her development as a character. Her showing romantic feelings for Natsu shows a new side to her character. Not many people noticed this, but throughout the story, as her feelings for Natsu get stronger, she fights harder. And I don’t mean that in the sense that she became a stronger wizard. I mean she starts being more confident in battle and taking more risks in order to save him. She fell off of a waterfall with him in the Oracion Seis arc. And in the final arc of the series, she’s literally tampering with a book of dark magic in order to save Natsu’s life!
So yes, being in love with Natsu did cause Lucy’s character to change. But that’s not a bad thing. Her love for him made her stronger. That added to her character development, not subtracted from it. The argument that a character, mainly female characters being in love makes them weaker is a sexist one because it implies that if a female character is in love with another character, that they somehow become less important to the story and become weaker simply for finding joy in their life in the form of love for another person.
You know what other character in Fairy Tail is deemed weak because of that? Juvia Lockser. Now, a lot of her character development does revolve around her relationship with Gray. And yes, being with him is all she wants. Her goal is to marry him and have a family with him. And yes that is a traditionally feminine desire, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad goal.
We’re at a point now in society where women can pursue things other than domestic life. But that doesn’t mean that women shouldn’t also pursue a domestic life. The point of feminism and gender equality is that women get to have a choice between just being a wife and mother or pursuing something else or doing both. And that’s the thing, it’s a choice! Which means that some women are going to choose to devote themselves to their family. And that’s not a bad choice at all.
Remember that Juvia was an orphan. She’s never had parents or a family. She had literally never seen the sun until she met Gray so if him changing her life like that makes her want to devote her life to being with him and having a family with him as her idea of true happiness, then power to her! Let her pursue that dream! Especially since now we know that Gray loves her back.
And it’s not like she’s the only female character in Fairy Tail either. If she was the only girl in the series, then I’d probably take issue with her main desire being to be a wife and mother. But there’s so many other characters, and each of them have different desires, personalities, and roles in the story. So one of them primarily desiring a domestic life as a wife and mother is totally fine. There’s other female characters who pursue other things. Just like in real life, women are all different and make different choices.
And her being a wife and mother doesn’t mean she’ll be locked up in the house cooking and cleaning all of the time either. She’s still a wizard. She’ll still go on jobs on her own and with Gray. That definitely won’t change.
And just like with Lucy, she became a stronger wizard after falling in love with Gray. She’s beaten some tough opponents in the name of love. And there’s nothing wrong with fighting for love!
So love is not something that weakens the female characters in Fairy Tail. It makes them stronger. Love is a great source of joy and happiness and it’s perfectly acceptable to fight for that. It’s a very strong emotion, and it’s not only felt by the girls in these stories. The guys fight for love too. Heck, Gray and Natsu both unleashed their demon side when they thought their girls were dead.
But we don’t see as many people saying that love weakens Natsu or Gray’s characters as they do for Juvia and Lucy.
Why is it that people are always so much more critical of the girls motives, desires and actions in a story instead of the boys?
Why are fans so critical of the main female character of a story than they are of the main male character of the story?
How come Lucy can’t be a strong character because she’s in love?
It’s because the idea that Lucy can have it all by being a successful wizard and author and having a loving and supportive family too, scares the misogynists because it would mean that a female character was able to make all of her dreams come true by the end of a story, by the power of love pushing her to become stronger. They’re scared of something traditionally “feminine” like romance becoming a powerful factor in a story. If love = power, then the one who possess that love, Lucy = power. And that’s what they’re really upset about.
And now I’ll get off of my soapbox. I feel like I was mostly ranting through this and I’m not sure if it made sense but I hope it did! 😂

Quick Notes: Chapter 174
Let’s go!
Mashima saw how the fandom reacted to ONE horny cover and decided to give us ANOTHER. Not sure if that means he does listen to fans or not.
I don’t know if there’s anything Noah can do to win favor with the EZ Crew members not named Becky.
Ether Connect feels like something we’ve seen before, but I can’t remember it being used before this.
As cool as it is to see Feather’s gang job for the EZ Crew, I wish I had more of a gauge for how strong they’re supposed to be.
I love Noah’s explanation of the EZ Crew’s sense of family. Though, I wish it was more tied to friendship, given obvious reasons.
Oh my goodness, they’re setting up Captain Connor to take over Witch’s role as “ship parent“. I wish I felt more about this...
Rebecca having an Over Drive feels like more of a footnote than it should be.
“You can see our movements, but you can’t handle them.” Something, something Dunning-Kruger effect.
I didn’t notice Shiki using his powers directly on Feather the first time. Love this man’s new control.
By the way, when this is all over, will Feather just tell the rest of Oracion Seis Interstellar to stay away from Shiki or treat him as a greater threat?
Ladies and gentlemen, this is how you set up a mentor figure. (I was only off by over 100 chapters.)
See you!

@imjustheretoseetheprivateblogs I saw your comment and although the hauntober prompts have been filled, this was the first shicca request, and technically there was still the 31st open so...
Inspired by Mashima’s Halloween shicca art:
Ever since her 18th birthday, Rebecca hated full moons. She still remembered that day perfectly as she screamed at her mother. Why didn’t you tell me?! Her mother was human, but her father whom she’d never met, had been a werecat. All the woman could say between the sobs were I’m sorry... sorry she didn’t know... sorry they didn’t know if she’d inherit the genes. Well she had, and now two years later it was still a struggle to keep living.
Everything had changed after that moment. Future goals of college, gone. A career in advertising, indefinite hold. It was difficult to find good jobs that would give her the day off every month, on a specific day, no fail because she couldn’t risk changing in front of humans. And relationships? Pfft. No way would she do what her father did to her mother, and certainly not bring a child into this world to struggle too.
She had a few friends, but none that knew about being a werecat. They just assumed Rebecca had a quirk about full moons and left it at that. Ugh! She really missed being able to socialize with people! In high school, she was popular, bubbly, a cheerleader with tons of friends. She’d dreamed of getting into advertising, maybe even becoming a social media influencer or something fun like that! Now, her life was mostly anonymous, still online, but holed up in her apartment unless she had to work. It was simply too scary to get close to people and hurt or be hurt by the sting of rejection.
Of course, the one Halloween she could have gone out despite the full moon, had to happen during a damn pandemic! All social gatherings were against the law in their city, so— no parties. Rebecca was so distraught that she’d ditched her apartment for the night and found her way to a high bluff deep in the woods, where in the far distance you could see the faint lights of the next town over. It really was a beautiful spot, quiet, serene, and perhaps because animals could sense her supernatural blood, nothing every bothered her out here.
Rebecca looks up at the large bright moon and gives it the middle finger, before pulling her legs up and wrapping her arms around them. She rests her chin on her knees. Is this really how she’ll spend the rest of her life? Miserable and alone? Maybe she should just move to some cabin way out here in the middle of nowhere...
Her ears flick back at a soft rustling sound coming from behind her. Probably just a squirrel or something... But wait?! Her nose picks up an unusual scent. Human and canine mixed together. All her extraordinary senses go on heightened alert and every hair stands up along her feline arms. Rebecca leaps to her feet, turning around just as the rustling sound stops.
A large male lands just three feet in front of her. “Hi!!”
‘Hi?!’ Rebecca’s tail flicks in irritation and her claws extended, ready for defense. “W-who are you?!” She asks the stranger. Wasn’t he scared to see a weird cat girl in the middle of a forest?! Then again, this male wasn’t exactly normal either... “What are you?”
“Name’s Shiki,” he grins, “and I’m just like you, sort of,” his head tilts as his nose sniffs the air. “Except you’re a cat and I’m a dog. Wanna be my friend?!”
Was this guy serious?! He seemed so relaxed about everything. Taller, broader in chest, and while she still held onto some human features after the change, this male was much more wolf-like in appearance. “Um. I’m Rebecca. How are you so happy? Don’t you hate being like, um a werewolf?”
“Doesn’t bother me,” he shrugs and plops down into a cross legged position. “My mom and grandpa are werewolves too, so it’s just part of the family. What about you?”
“I hate it.”
“Why?”
“Why?! Because it ruined my life, that’s why! I mean look at me! I have to hide away this ugly body from the world,” Rebecca gestures wildly at the sky, “because of that stupid full moon!”
“I don’t see an ugly body. You have a nice body.”
“What?” Her arms drop instantly but cross against her chest. She didn’t want to call him an idiot, but their definitions of beauty differed. “Where exactly are you from, Shiki, was it?”
“That town way over there,” he points to the lights.
“But that’s 15 miles away! Do you normally travel this far on these nights?”
“Not really, but two months ago I picked up on your scent and was curious to see who you were. There’s not many of us Werepeople around so I was surprised to find another so close by,” he grins, “and a pretty girl at that. Must be my lucky moon.”
This time Rebecca couldn’t hide the blush that steals away on her cheeks. Twice this guy had complimented her appearance, but she just wasn’t used to hearing such things. She’d been so focused on the loss of her human life that she targeted all of her hate and anger towards this body, which wasn’t as ugly as she wanted to believe. Plus, calling herself ugly meant she had to call Shiki ugly too and for a werewolf, he wasn’t all that bad looking. Perhaps...
Her voice softened, hesitant but hopeful, while her eyes glance towards the ground. “You really think so?”
“Heck yeah!” He bounces to his feet and grabs her hands, tail wagging like the happiest puppy in the world! “You should come meet my family! They’ll so love you!”
Rebecca’s eyes pop open wide. “N-Now?!” But, it’s late and she works in the morning, and...
“Why not?” He scoops her up against his chest. “15 minutes tops! Hold on!”
Rebecca squeals and quickly wraps her arms around his neck, gripping to the collar of his shirt as his powerful hind legs leap from the cliff. “Shiki!!! Are you crazy?!” They barely just met! And okay, it was awesome to meet someone else like her, but how did she know he wasn’t some crazed killer? How was he so sure she could trusted?
When he hits the forest floor below, he looks down at Rebecca with the widest, brightest smile to rival the moon itself that sent heart leaping. “Trust me.”
And so, she did...

What was your genuine opinion on eldlive? Ive only read 11 chapters(?) but I had my assumptions about it, like how it felt like the main girl was a hibarified ver kyoko LOL.
ah, hi anon!! I’ve got opinions on elDlive, and real beef with that kind of opinion (but not you specifically anon). I just. I don’t like it when people read one series by a mangaka (in this case, Reborn) and hen read a newer series (elDlive) and then. compare the newer series’ characters to the older ones. I try to go into every new series (and usually by a familiar mangaka) with as open a mind as possible. Edens Zero, Burn The Witch, Fire Force.... I try to Not connect the new characters to the older ones (except Fairy Tail.... Mashima sucks lmao he can’t make new characters without sticking to FT it’s bad) and as such, I went into elDlive as accepting as possible
so I hate it when people say Chuuta is like Tsuna, or Misuzu is like a “mean Kyoko” or something or other. I read quite a few chapters, but I don’t remember much bc it was when it wasn’t as easily accessible on manga sites, and was still ongoing. but Misuzu likes her job, and gets along with others. she respects her seniors and likes and cares about her colleagues, and I believe she has a good rivalry, too. she’s got a backstory. that’s not like Kyoya or Kyoko at all. the characters ARE different to khr’s characters. I feel like it’s not fair to Amano, KHR, elDlive OR any of the characters
I understand your question and opinion are valid, they’re yours, and this isn’t to come entirely for you over it. it’s just always been a big, BIG pet peeve of mine
that aside I know Amano’s slightly older series’ (khr included) can be a hit or miss for people recently, which is why I’m glad her new series seems to be doing well (enough)
overall from what I remember, elDlive had some slight issues, I think?? but I liked it. I liked it enough I read well over 20-30 chapters, even though it was incredibly difficult to do so. I liked the story, the characters, the concept, and naturally the art!! I’d naturally suggest to anyone who wants to support Amano to try and give it a shot!! I don’t think it was bad enough to say “no, don’t read it”

Hey there, do you have an opinion on a sketch Mashima did a while back, its actually a Laxus and Mirajane child but the design is somewhat unique. I trying to find a way to post the picture to show it. Just want to know on your own personal thought and how you feel it should look.
Generally, it's a cool one! I like it when the hair has an interesting design and stands out compared to the other ladies, featuring just standard medium long open hair (with ponytails etc).
With anime/cartoon designs you lack the small subtleties of facial features that really make a child look like their parents. So you have to fall back to larger features, like hair, the specific form of eyes, special ear forms, common expressions or moods/behaviours unique to their parents, that will make the viewer associate with the parents.
That makes it often a bit boring in a way, because children turn out to be simple mixes of their parents appearance. Or worse, they use the same base drawing as their parents, with slightly different hair and a different set of clothes. Hm. I think design-wise that's less than ideal.
I noticed quite heavily in Fairy Tail: The is a lack of cultural development within the 100 years (even more!) we have a glimpse into.
Children can but hardly look the same like their parents when they were young (I am thinking of the teenage years). Different hair styles were in, different clothes were the latest trend, and so on... so if we know Generation Natsu and then move on to Generation Nasha, I would ideally expect a certain difference that doesn't make it so obvious that this character is that character's kid.
So since I don't know any context to that Mashima doodle, I can't really make an educated statement. xD But if I had to draw a Miraxus child, I would probably not have done such an interesting job!
