I started SPN in 2013 as a bibro that shipped destiel. The thing that finally brought me to the fandom was the podfic of Two Boys From Kansas in King Uther’s Court (a BBC Merlin/SPN gen crossover), and I binge-watched s1-7 a couple times with my baby bro until new episodes started coming out and watched those as they aired until s10. Came back to fandom in 2020 and couldn't enjoy much destiel content. The culture of heller fandom and my preference for a canon-adjacent aroace relationship that doesn't sideline Sam or change Dean's character has made my enjoyment of most deancas content a thing of the past. (Also I'm like 200% more obsessed with SamDean since the finale.)

So yesterday was shit here seeing acephobia, trying to defend a character I love (Dean) and being called yet again names by some ignorant blog I had the misfortune to believe actually liked spn

And I'm fucking tired. I just wanna come on here and reblog and enjoy the things I love but I see bullshit and it upsets me and I'm never ever forgetting how horrible Destiel fans made it here on finale night (and tbh every day since I can't even go in the spn or even Sam tag without seeing unrelated rubbish)

I'm just fed up because this is my escape my home but I don't even feel like the Merlin fandom is the same and although I really enjoy the posts and art and stuff here for the shows and characters I love, feeling bummed out by horrible people and I just have to believe in karma because surely no one should be able to behave in this way calling people names, acting entitled, sending and saying the most nasty things to spn fans and Jared.

I’ve  been roleplaying since around 2009ish. I started out doing character chats on a website called inkpop that allowed young authors to potentially get their work read by publishers and even get a publishing deal. The point was to get your book characters to interact with others so they could be expanded and seem more real. I moved to tumblr around 2010, and started off in a group RP for percy jackson where I played Luke for about five years. I also did regular group rps for OCs, and such. After that I joined the glee fandom and well that was a wild ride. I then attempted indie RP around 2012-13 where I played Adam Milligan and stopped cause the SPN fandom was hard to get into. Then I joined the glee fandom around the same time and did a bunch of RPs there, I also had a roleplay help blog at one point, i tried 1x1s with a few friends but those fizzled out, I also did a few group roleplays for the SPN fandom where I played Adam, and I went back to indie RPing in about 2015 but in the Merlin Fandom where I play Mordred (and still do), from then on its a bunch of different fandoms that i had indie blogs in from a crazy experience in the Kingsman fandom that made me put away my Eggsy muse, to the historic fandom where I play Philippe Duc d’Orleans (can you blame me my FC for him was my Mordred FC), I also had numerous other blogs all on sideblogs now, such as Ender Wiggin, Hugo Cabret, Adam Milligan again. It was playing Philippe that lead me to the descendants fandom in 2017 right after d2 came out. And if you know me I have joined new fandoms, and rejoined some old ones namely PJO as Luke and the Glee fandom.

I have always preferred male muses. I just have never been able to write good females, even in the books I have I just find myself struggling to write females. I have a total of five female muses that I have written or plan to write. But I tend to gear towards males, who I often see as asexual. These males all vary I have no specific type, though bad pasts tends to be a common theme. I also tend to go with canon muses. I have done a total of three OCs, one was truly an OC of my own creation from a book I was working on he was a “magician” more or less. I still love him. But yeah I would say I tend to lean into fantasy stuff alot more than the mundane. Most of my muses have a supernatural or fantasy element to their world or person.

———  FLUFF  /  ANGST  /  SMUT  !  ♡

FLUFF   : I like fluff. However, I am not a fan of only writing fluff. Fluff is good in moderation for me. If every thread I have with someone is something I see as Fluff then I get bored really easily. And I am not just talking about cute dates, I am talking about fluff after angst where its all I love yous but the angst is never actually written. Fluff is fine, but there has to be some motivation to it, these threads for me tend to fizzle out the fastest because they get really boring. Its why I don’t like rom-coms the plot is fine but I find no real substance to it. That’s how fluff feels for me. If something actiony or adventury doesn’t happen the plot just seems dull and of no use to write.

ANGST   :   I love writing angst, it is one of the best ways for me to help me build character arcs. Not all angst is actual pain, but I love putting my characters in these situations because it helps them grow. From difficult decisions that impact more than just them, to actual pain and suffering. I like writing it because its interesting to me. I am not a fan of small talk in real life, and angst isn’t small talk its the nitty gritty shit. I think all angst should have an end, but I also am known for coming up with angsty plots upon angsty plots.

SMUT   :   I used to write smut a very very long time ago, when I was in the glee fandom specifically. I know I know, I was a stupid young person alright. And I wont lie writing the smut that I did, I met some very wonderful people who allowed me to explore my kinks in a very safe environment in a way that I would not have been able to otherwise. I was very sheltered growing up, to the point that I did not know what a hand job was which is important if you know my story, I learned through RP and fanfiction what one was, and what the right terms were. However, that is a time that is in my past, I don’t write it any more, I find it uncomfortable for me personally to write especially since many of my characters are on the ace/demi spectrum. I will write kissing, and steamy moments, but my rule is as soon as your hand goes below the belt the fade to black comes out. If you want to know more of my experience I will gladly share it in private but it is too much for this little meme.

PLOT  /  MEMES   :   I love both. I am absolute shit at plotting though. Like we plot, and then I never know who will write the starter. I love plotting though because I love building relationships and characters through plots. When it comes to memes those are honestly the best way to roleplay with me. I may forget them from time to time, and not know how to answer them if they are first interactions, but I try to get to all my memes eventually. They are great ice breakers, and honestly some of my favorite threads come from memes. So send them in.

Time to go for a ride... (old art)

So some unsuspecting anon innocently asked me about old fandoms and old fanart. And ya’ll. Buckle up, this is gonna get interesting. 

Be aware though: I’m not gonna be making fun of my old stuff. We all started somewhere, and while I’m proud of my improvement, I would never have gotten anywhere if people hadn’t been supportive of where I started. This is just gonna be a fun trip down memory lane. :) 

Gonna start out with the very first ever big fandom I joined, and the first fandom where I started drawing humanoid characters (instead of dragons, dolphins, horses, and wolves): Lord of the Rings. This is technically my first piece of fanart ever: Samwise Gamgee receiving his box of earth from Galadriel: 

If you can make out that date, it’s 10-13-01. As in 2001. As in 17 years ago--before some of you were born. This was before I learned to draw with confident lines, or to press down on the paper so you could see the result after it was scanned. Meep. 

The rest of these are going behind a cut. While nothing is going to be explicit, there may be some blood or nudity (again, nothing explicit) so enter at your own risk. This will also be a very image-heavy post.

My Naga boy, Kaven: 

He’s a prince, and he ended up falling in love with his minstrel (who’d saved his life years earlier after he’d been left for dead during a border skirmish). 

Here’s said Minstrel, Thorne (who is @sanders-sides-thuri‘s character)

Here are the two goobers together: 

Kaven is significantly larger because he was royalty, and had much more access to food. Being part snake, characters in this world grow based on how much food they get. Thorne, being raised a poor farmboy, didn’t have nearly as much to eat and therefore stayed quite a bit smaller. There is over 150k words of story written about these two. 

And here are a few OCs I created from World of Warcraft: 

Tokaal (the troll) and Kyrel (the draenei), who, as WoW players know, are on opposite factions and expected to be enemies. But Tokaal rescued Kyrel from a slaver caravan in Un’Goro Crater and they eventually learned to communicate and became friends. Tokaal took Kyrel back up to Theramore Isle (an Alliance stronghold) but given that he was a troll and a member of the Horde, he was attacked on site. Fortunately Kyrel managed to convince the guards he was an ally, and was able to help heal him. Tokaal just woke up from his healing sleep to find himself in the arms of a very worried draenei.

I had meant to stew on the question in terror for ages and possibly never make a decision one way or another, as is my habit, but I am a fool and accidentally queued something to this blog instead of my sideblog without realizing, which sorta made the decision for me. The journey to not being terrified to post content from other fandoms may be long and/or unsuccessful but I suppose it’s a solid idea since spn has made me a salt mine and if I get any saltier I will consume myself and disappear.

 As soon as I noticed the accidental reblog, I added all the tags necessary for easy blacklisting. To make it easier for both x-kit and Tumblr blacklist users (yes, Tumblr itself now has a blacklisting feature!), I will tag all fandom names with an asterisk and then the fandom name or abbreviation.

Examples: *bbcmerlin, *nif, *hannibal, etc. 

Any content I create and post for non-spn fandoms will likewise be tagged with not only the above fandom tags but also....

While in shows like Merlin and Nirvana in Fire, the show-standard level of violence is rather tame and non-graphic—not even to SPN-standard levels, in certain shows it is higher than SPN. Hannibal, I’m looking at you. For that, I will not use the violence tag I use for spn (’blood’ or ‘cw blood’) and will instead just use ‘cw gore’ just to be safe. Though, to be fair, most people who follow me know I am a hurt/comfort fan, and that love for suffering (and subsequent cuddling) applies to all my favorite characters in all fandoms. 

In fact, unusually strong platonic bonds, beautiful suffering, and meaty philosophical or moral questions or implications are pretty much universal throughout all the fandoms I enjoy.

Let me know if there’s any special tag I can use that is not covered under the umbrella of these already existing tags to make your Tumblr experience more pleasant and easy to curate.

Re: Crowley’s death, I discussed that in a couple of metas, for instance this one and this one, and I think there’s more stuff under my tag ‘spn ending’, if you fancy some reading.

Re: Cas - again, I guess that would make sense from a ‘guest star’ perspective, but they’d have to come up with a very good explanation as to why Cas is not trying to bring Sam and Dean back. Could be a human!Cas, but even then, he’s got more than enough knowledge to do weird things, right?, or maybe Dean did something like make him promise he wouldn’t look for them, which I’m not a fan of, or - what?

Re: Merlin - well - maybe it’s just my dash, but there’s a lot of new Merthur edits popping up every week? And they’ve got about 30K stories on AO3, with new ones being uploaded every day? And I may be wrong, but I think I saw Merthur as one of the ships mentioned by the tumblr bot - you know, when they tell you ‘popular ships this week’ and things. And my point, which I now realized never wrote down, is that the Merlin fandom - they’re on their own, just like so many other fandoms. But with Supernatural - whatever happens on the show, I think cons will still be going on, and people will still flock to them - there will still be official merchandise - not to mention, they can fill dozens of DVDs with specials, interviews, behind the scenes and stuff - and they could write new books, like the monsters one we were discussing on tumblr a while back - so, yeah, killing Sam and Dean would mean less money for everyone involved, but not no money at all.

Also - I like how you say “Id rather they all die so I’m free” - this is what it feels like, isn’t it? That no matter what they do, you’re so attached to the characters that you just can’t stop watching until they’re done with the story. It’s like a curse, or something.

We don’t brag that ‘we won’ we uh just watched and loved the actual show and main characters and if you wanna rewrite the entire show (how’s that going) then maybe you should find another show/thing to obsess over because you clearly hate spn

There is no ship war because the only ship that is canon (platonically) is Sam and Dean and there’d be peace if you’d just stay in your lane and just enjoy Destiel as fanon and not take over every tag like Sam’s with posts that have nothing to do with Sam

Us ‘evil bronlies and wincesties’ actually care about and love the characters and show and you despise them

I have never seen the venom and delusion that you all spew from any brothers or J2 fans, never seen them tag actors with utter hate and poison or send horrible cowardly anonymous asks. We are just here trying to love and support our show and characters/actors we love and you all make it SO HARD. Why should we have to defend canon?!

Also the ace erasure and offensive bisexual sterotypes you talk about to convince yourselves Dean is bi is horrible and you have zero respect for Dean or Jensen.

The utter hate and poison directed at Jared makes me feel sick. If you don’t like someone fine but bullying and spending your time hating on them is a horrible thing to do and you need to take a long hard look at yourself and just focus on things you love because otherwise eventually all that hate will turn inward and the only one you’re damaging is yourself.

Jared and Jensen deserve so much better than all this drama and I just hope they see enough love and support sent their way to drown out those hateful voices.

Makes me so happy being in the Merlin fandom because hearing how welcoming it is for new and old fans, people who may have just started the show or those who watched years ago and are still blogging or inspired to blog now.

I’m proud of us not only for enduring and being the immortal fandom but for everyone’s kindness and warmth and generosity and talent and sheer magical spirit and energy <3 Drama free for 1500 years.

I've (probably) said it before but I'll say it again, If you dislike the relationship between Sam and Dean in Supernatural and put 'dni bibros' in your blog and if you skip the early seasons, the seasons which are the best and most important, you are not a fan of the show in anyway shape of form because the show IS about Sam and Dean, always was, the heart and soul of the show it was always their story.

I feel like the Elrond of the Merlin fandom.  My blog is ancient.  I lived through Bradley’s video diaries, illegally recorded comic con trailers that I stayed up all night waiting for them to drop, screaming over the first BBC trailers, EMBRACE ROCK, biting our fingernails whether Dragoon would be in the finale, the agony of Christmas Eve, when landofmerlin was still here, the NTA’s ‘beaming with pride’ and Colin like a champ winning it all and bonus Merlin casts faces when Downton won  (the list goes on) ALL IN REAL TIME.  I miss those halycon days.
