#you thought i could go with marius for this one

Note
The more crumbs we get from spoilers and previews, the more I think back to your original theory that JK is Marius, and that it is Marius who tampered with Daniel’s memories.
I actually do think it was Armand who tinkered with Louis’ memories though. Obviously he cut the pages from the diary…but…what if… Armand is under Marius’ thumb somehow? As in, Armand made Daniel choose between a human life or a life with him, and Daniel chose a human life, so Marius intervened to wipe Daniel’s memories to ensure knowledge of vampires doesn’t get out among the human population. Armand is bitter that Daniel chose a human life (which explains the ‘thde), but also has his own motivations for getting involved in the interview: to see if he can bring back the memories Marius tampered with and give things one more shot before Daniel’s illness kills him.
And perhaps….Marius is posing as a certain shapeshifting individual to keep tabs on Daniel so the memory wipe stays in tact, and to stay connected to the goings on of the interview more generally. I imagine he doesn’t want Armand and Louis blabbing about too much time Daniel…
Marius posing as Raglan has its advantages. For one, it could ostensibly keep Armand and Louis from reading Daniel’s thoughts and learning that Marius is close by monitoring the situation.It’s also possible the name Raglan James doesn’t mean anything to Louis and Armand at this point, so the anonymity gives Marius some protection.
Thoughts?
Well, book canonically Marius intervenes wrt Armand's loves/fledglings... be it Daniel (for a while), or Sybille or Benji - so I think that is important to keep in mind.
I do think that Armand "tinkered" with Louis' memories, yes, maybe even on invitation ("we made an agreement").
However, I do think that if Marius is involved... then Marius is the one who wiped Daniel's memories, because he got fed up with Armand "playing around". (You know, like Sybille and Benji later)
I do think there is a high possibility that Marius could take on other personas, they all do after all, and we know the show likes to obfuscate our perception on characters.
IF it is Marius disguised as Raglan then that means that a) he has indeed (some kind of) access to the Talamasca or at least knows of some things and b) he does want to check the current status, without interfering too much. Also the mind-reading that you mentioned might be part of that reasoning.
He does check on things from afar in the books as well, be it Armand with the Children of Satan, or just coming by to show his disapproval after Lestat's body switch.
So... all that is totally within the behavior patterns of the books, imho.
But I disagree that he doesn't want Daniel to regain his memories... because the medicine Daniel gets was prepared by Fareed and the "prime minister" Fareed is personal physician to is Marius in the later books. I think the attempt to bring back Daniel's memories is one that a lot of people know about - and IF Marius is disguised as Raglan James then he just wants to check the status, without triggering too many other memories I bet.

New Years Kiss
Orm Marius x fem! reader
Tumblr media
_
Orm Marius couldn't admit he liked you.
As the son of King Orvax, he was prideful, cunning, malicious and stubborn. He always knew he'd have to fight for his throne, and because of that reality, he's spiteful.
But he's also Atlannas' son. He never spent much time thinking of how they both cared to the brink of it hurting them, or how his love was displayed in actions whilst hers was in encouraging her son to do better with his newfound freedom. In looks, he is his mothers son, but his pride held onto him steadfast.
"(Y/N) is coming."
"(Y/N)?"
Arthur mused, "oh now someone's paying attention."
Orm said nothing but rolled his eyes. His elder brother, Arthur, had a habit of teasing him. Sure, he had grown used to it and had his own retorts, but it had only gotten worse since Arthur figured out that Orm has a crush.
On a human.
"She's hosting, so you better not fuck this up."
Orm sneered, "what are you talking about?"
"New Years Kiss, little bro!" He went to mess up his hair, but Orm dodged him, "when the clock strikes midnight, humans have a tradition of sharing a kiss," Mera explained to him whilst feeding Jr..
"I don't know why you're telling me this because I have no intentions of courting her-"
"When you sound like that, you don't," Arthur cut in, his voice loud even from the kitchen.
Orm is Atlantean, (Y/N) is human.
Logically, it would never work out.
So why even try?
But even as Orm would remind himself of such a glaring difference, the thought would vanish the moment he saw her. He had seen hundreds of Atlantean women in his time, even mermaids, but somehow they were dull in his eyes compared to her. She wasn't just different because she's human, but she genuinely cared about everyone around her. He first claimed she was strange for giving her food to the homeless, or how she was odd for asking the barista how her day was.
Because it's a pure act of innocence that he hadn't seen in a long time.
And its what drew him in even further.
Despite his claims, Orm still found himself picking off any piece of lint or fur on his clothing and made sure he smelt just like that candle she loved so much.
And a dash of that cologne that Arthur wears.
"Oh, he just keeps growing! Jr, I thought we talked about this. You need to stay cute forever," (Y/N) loved seeing Jr.. Her face lit up in joy anytime she saw the little prince, and Orm felt a pang of jealousy.
Then realized.
He's jealous of a toddler.
"Help yourself! The potato skins are almost done," You had done the most to avoid Orms intense gaze but with those eyes? It was nearly impossible.
"Orm, how was your Christmas?" You asked, a tad bit nervous as he came inside and took his shoes off. He was always respectful of your home.
"Arthur gave me a fish."
"Did you name it?"
He looked at you for a moment, ". . .his name is Triton."
His deadpan voice with that line made you smile, and you brought out a small box from your back.
"What's this?" He asked carefully, watching it in your hand.
"Well since I couldn't make it for Christmas, I thought you could have it today," you explained, a small feeling bubbling in your stomach. You saw it and immediately thought of him, but never saw Orm wear jewelry a day in his life.
"It's for me?" He felt his heart skip a beat as he took it carefully and unwrapped it. It was a small box and went it opened up, his pupils dilated at the gift inside.
"I know how it feels to not be able to go home," you explained as he pulled it out of the box, admiring it, "so I thought you'd like something that reminds you of it."
It's a ring with carefully carved ocean waves along the side. You could relate to Orm in that way - being exiled. Well, it wasn't exactly exile, but it was always one way or the highway with your parents.
Choosing your own happiness came with a cost.
"And it's stainless steel, so it won't tarnish in the water," I added nervously.
"It's beautiful," he finally spoke up, slipping it on his right hand. He met your gaze with a nervous smile, "you didn't have to-"
"(Y/N), I think the potato skins are burning!"
"Fuck!" You shouted, running to the kitchen. Orm admired the ring for a bit longer, enjoying the warmth it brought it him before joining the others.
The evening was quite eventful, to say the least.
Arthur ate half of the food all whilst sharing pictures of Jr., and then Mera had started to feel ill. You apologized if something was overcooked or undercooked, but Mera insisted she had been feeling off all day.
Leaving you and Orm.
Alone.
He sat on the couch like a stuff board, suddenly hyperaware of his own breathing and kept glancing at you across the couch.
"I-"
"What-"
You chuckled, "sorry. You first."
Orm said softly, "it is nothing of importance. Please."
"Want to see the fireworks? It's almost midnight," Orm hadn't heard much of them before being banished to the surface. Only that they were loud and he refused to go outside.
But for you?
He'd say yes.
Since it was cold outside, you grabbed a blanket from the couch and wrapped it around you before slipping on shark slippers.
"I'm sorry if this has been a rough New Years Eve. I'm usually a better cook than tonight," you apologized, "I've just been feeling weird lately."
"Is it a human sickness?" Orm questioned, still keeping a small distance from you, for fear his heart might burst from his chest.
You blushed lightly, taking a small step closer to him, "something like that."
"Well. . .I hope you feel better."
Dense as always.
You took the initiative to step closer to him, your hands keeping themselves on the railing of your porch. The wood creaked lightly, and Orm wanted nothing more than to hold your hands.
"Humans get cold easily, correct?" He knew this but wanted to sound dumber for this.
"Yeah, why?" You asked, looking up at him.
He said nothing else but gathered your hands in his, cupping them together. You faced him but looked down, completely sure your face was scarlet.
"Guess I should have worn gloves," you muttered.
"I like it better this way," Orm confessed, meeting your gaze in your own shock.
It's now or never, he thought.
"I hated your kind," what a fucking way to start, "and what you did to the ocean. I wanted to blame all of you, for surely no one was innocent. . .but I have never seen something so pure in their efforts. You are shameless with your kindness, and it used to befuddle me. Why would anyone do things without expectations? Nothing to return back?"
"Orm," you breathed out. Surely he wasn't going to say it? Surely the fucking Prince of Atlantis didn't fall for a land dweller?
"You're incredible," He confessed, a small smile teasing at his lips, "You're the best of your people, and. . .and I. . ." He felt like words couldn't describe what he felt.
So he led with action, and kissed you.
His lips were nothing like you'd imagined. They were soft, and supple against your own, which you were lucky enough to remember your strawberry chapstick today. You leaned further into the kiss, and one hand came up to cradle your cheek. He wanted to continue on, memorize your lips against his - the very euphoria it brought him.
But a loud bang separated you both.
The fireworks started, bright reds, greens, blues - all lighting up the sky. You leaned your head against his chest with a laugh, "that scared the shit out of me."
His arms wrapped around your frame, ensuring your warmth as the colors in the sky danced in his eyes.
"I was your New Years kiss," He said absent-mindedly, and you looked up at him.
"Did Arthur tell you to plan this?"
He chuckled, "oh no. He may be older but he's not that smart."
"You're so mean," you playfully smacked his chest.
"But never to you," He planted a loving kiss on your forehead, silently thanking his brother for having Mera fake her illness so that he could do this.
I'm a fucking dumbass. I wrote this but passed out at 1am 🤦‍♀️

bodies between us
marius; 1,614 words; nsfw!!!, fem!reader, straight smut, mating press, cumming inside, "jiejie"
summary: marius... fucks.
Tumblr media
he has never thought of bodies as expendable things — not in the least because it’s not how he was raised. but mostly because he knows that, for the most part, it’s how people expect him to think, and he’s always taken a vindictive pleasure in being contrary.
but here, like this, with you tucked beneath him, breathless and shaking, your fingers digging crescents into the muscle of his arms, your voice pitched and breaking as he slowly fucks into you — he thinks he can start to understand why people might ruin themselves to chase a high like this.
“f-fuck, jiejie… you’re s-so tight…”
you peer up at him through tear-soaked lashes, your bottom lip caught in your teeth as you whine to the rhythm of his hips, rocking into yours, the slick slap of skin on skin toe-curling in it’s indecency. marius groans, letting himself fall forward onto an elbow, leaning down to mouth at the smooth expanse of your neck, bared before him like an empty canvas. how he longs to paint your skin in bright blooming patches of blue and green and purple, rings like daisy-chains in the shape of his teeth.
“m-marius… please…”
he hisses out a breath at the plea in your voice, feels the coil in his stomach tighten as your cunt flutters around him, your walls clenching down, making his spine curve, his pace stutter. he gasps for a breath that he has long since poured into the warmth of your mouth, his lips searching for yours even as your head tips back in pleasure.
“so — so desperate, hm?” he says, teasing his tongue along the line of your collarbone, trailing down till he can mouth at your hardened nipples, relishing in the way you hiccup when he laves his tongue across one peak, his free hand coming up to tweak at the other, “so… sensitive…”
you grapple weakly at him, hiccupping as you feel him dragging along your walls, grazing the soft spot at the base of your belly, whimpering as he angles himself towards his, rolling his hips into yours to brush up against it again and again and again.
“marius — ah — hah… n-no f-fair —!”
he lets out a soft chuckle at your words, groaning unrestrained as he hoists you up higher over his hips, fucking into you even as you try to squirm away from him, the spit-fire tingles wreaking havoc on your body as his cock rams against your cervix making your vision go fuzzy round the edges. your hair is a haloed mess on his silken pillows and the way you pulse around him makes him want to scream.
“who said — anything — about — fair, hm?”
his teeth sink into the soft of your tits, your skin muffling his loud moan as he swirls the sensitive nipple in his mouth, teasing it till you’re tugging at his hair with desperate fingers, your body overwrought with pleasures and sensations. vaguely, you feel his fingers close around your throat and you’re happy to let your eyes flutter shut.
he thinks he’d never get tired of this, of seeing you splayed out beneath him, the perfect image of wreck and ruin, the remnants of his lust, his love, scattered along your body like sand dollars on an expanse of eggshell beach. he wonders if you’d ever use them as currency — if you’d let him spend it like bus-fare, to map out every single dot of your pleasure, connect them into constellations.
he wants to know the stories you could tell with the pictures he paints across your skin.
“n-ngh! yes!”
your voice strikes through him like lightning, twisting tight the coils of pleasure threatening to burst in his belly as he jerks against you, pulling him out of his thoughts as he reaches out to bend you clear in half, pressing your knees almost to your shoulders as he fucks down into you.
“t-tell me… am i… doing g-good?” he’s breathless with it, panting, no longer trying to hide the whine in his voice as he chases after your high and his.
he wants to hear you say it, knows that it’ll only take so much to push him over the edge.
“mm — fuck — marius — s-so, so good — !” you’re writhing beneath him, “ah — ah… i’m — ‘m gonna cum!”
“f-fuck baby — cum — c-cum on my cock — lemme feel you — f-feel you cum all over me — make me a m-mess jiejie please —”
marius lets himself go, doesn’t try to stop the filth that runs past his lips, gasps as he feels you clench down around him, your cunt milking him till he’s tipping over the edge as well, the both of you moaning as he presses a sloppy kiss to your lips, moaning thick and deep as you kiss him back just as hard, sucking his tongue into your mouth.
he licks heat into the space behind your teeth as you both shudder against each other.
you whine as you feel the heat of his cum spill into you, making you hiss as he twitches inside you.
grinning, he reaches down to run a lazy thumb along your swollen clit if only to feel you jerk and try to squirm away. he smirks, holding you still even as you struggle half-heartedly against his movements.
“m-marius — i-i can’t —” there are tears welling up along your bottom lashes and marius tuts at the sight.
“c’mon… just one more — i know you can do it —” he gently rocks his hips into yours, his semi-hard cock still dragging along your fluttering walls as you squeeze your eyes, still raw from you recent orgasm, the heat still so close it’d be so easy to toss you over just one more time.
“n-no… i — ‘s too much…” you try to shake your head but marius hums as he expertly flicks at your clit with his thumb, making your entire body arch up into him.
“such a liar, jiejie… see? you’re almost there… lemme see…”
“h-hngh… marius — marius —”
you tug weakly at his arms even as you feel the rush of heat and wetness, your abused pussy clamping down weakly over his softening cock as you shake through another orgasm. marius groans, leaning back to watch the sticky white of his cum leak out of you around where he’s still plugged into your thoroughly abused hole.
“mm… so pretty…” he grins, bright-eyed and cocky as he slowly pulls himself out of you, biting back another satisfied groan as he watches the way your hole squeeze around nothing.
“that was — that was mean…” you say, wincing slightly as you twist over to one side and reach for the wet wipes on the beside table. marius laughs, grabbing them for you and tugging one out to wipe you down.
“but you liked it, right?”
you blush, shooting him a half-hearted glare, your cheeks red with post-coital heat.
he takes his time cleaning you up before wiping himself off and collapsing into bed beside you.
you snuggle in close, pressing your forehead against his chest as he runs an idle hand through your hair.
“don’t ever leave me, okay?” he whispers, pressing kisses into the line of your hair.
you nod, hooking your ankle over his as you inch in closer.
“i wasn’t planning on it.”
marius wraps his arms around you, humming contentedly as he takes a deep breath.
“good…” and then, after a moment, “cause i don’t think i can stand the thought of anyone else making you scream like that.”
you swat at his chest, “marius!”
he laughs, keeping you held tight to him, “what? it’s true! i — i think i’d go crazy if you ever left me… knowing that someone else was with you like that…” and you can hear the pout in his voice without having to look up to see.
“i — i don’t think i’d want anyone else like… like that…” your words trail off into silence as fire creeps into your cheeks. they’re honest words, you know, but still, saying them out loud like that —
“good!” marius sounds like a pleased schoolboy as he snuggles you in closer, nearly suffocating you against his chest before you forcibly push him away for some breathing space.
and neither of you say much else, but you can feel it like an exhaled breath. you feel it in the softening of limbs like the gentle rise and fall of the tides. marius shifts around you, your bodies slotting against each other like the sea returning to a stretch of long-forgotten shore. and marius thinks, in the seconds before he drifts off into dreams, that there isn’t enough money in the world to spend on a moment like this.
that if his body were indeed and expendable thing, if by some strange twist of fate it became a single-use thing, he’d still choose to use it with you. because he thinks he’d still fall in love with you, and he’d still give his whole life to find himself here, just here, lying beside you, even if it were the last thing he could ever do.
next to him, you twist, turning towards him, already asleep.
and he thanks the gods that his body isn’t an expendable thing, that for the rest of his finite life, he gets to spend each infinite moment with you.

there‘s a little surprise at the end again :3
@valkyrayn HAH PROMISE KEPT !
Tumblr media
you shrieked as marius lifted you up and carried you over the elevator’s exit, your arms were quickly around his neck to hold onto him tightly.
“did you really think i’d forget about the tradition of how the husband carries his wife over the doorstep of their home in their first night as a married couple?”, marius laughed at your horrified expression. “i would never.”
“could’ve warned me, though”, you muttered, slapping his arm as he let you down again, before you could say something else, he had already leaned down to kiss you and get you to shut up.
“shush, it’s the first night of us being married, baby. just let us enjoy these first moments, huh? this whole time i felt like you were somewhere else with your pretty head, i just need you with me for now”, he mumbled, his head buried against your neck as he smiled softly, placing a gentle kiss on the skin.
“okay”, you replied, hugging him as you closed your eyes, listening to his heartbeat as you slowly winded down. “i can’t believe we’re actually married now.”
he chuckled, letting go of you for a moment to lift your hand with the golden wedding band on your finger, softly kissing the finger and you giggled.
“we are, baby. it happened just earlier today”, marius laughed, blinking away a tear that was threatening to roll down his cheek. “i love you.”
“i love you, too”, you replied as you moved further into the honeymoon slash penthouse suite marius had rented for your honeymoon. “this place is gorgeous”, you mumbled, looking around everything. it was so incredibly luxurious, the couch looked incredibly comfortable and you couldn’t wait to lay there with him and watch a movie or just cuddle and relax in his arms.
“it really is, isn’t it? and we have this place all to ourselves for the next two weeks. i left our phones with vincent, he has the phone number of the landline in here so he’ll be the only person able to reach us in case of emergency. no social media, no press, nothing. just you and me in this gorgeous penthouse”, marius explained. “no one except for us will matter for the next two weeks.”
“you really thought of everything, didn’t you?”, you giggled. “let me unpack and get changed, i have been itching to get out of this dress for hours.”
“let me help you?”, marius followed you with your suitcases and immediately got to work with the zipper and buttons, pulling it down and the dress fell down to the ground, revealing your almost naked body that was only covered by some lacy panties.
“hey, out with you now!”, you giggled, throwing a pillow at him. “no peeking at the surprise! my bridesmaids got me this really hot lingerie and you can’t peek until we fuck.”
marius pouted like a kid being denied of his favorite snack as he caught the pillow with ease – in a way, the fact that he was denied of his favorite snack was accurate. especially considering he ate you out almost every morning because he simply enjoyed the way you trembled in his grasp from how good he made you feel and how much he enjoyed the way you tasted on his tongue.
“i’ll order us some food, yeah? you must be hungry”, he disappeared into the living room and you heard him talk shortly after.
immediately, you opened the suitcases and took out the set of lingerie and satin robe – your best friend had purchased and packed it into yours. it took you a little moment of gathering your confidence before you went out, smiling at marius as he was seated on the couch.
“did you order some food?”, you asked him and he nodded.
“mhm, i wonder what’s hidden underneath the robe”, marius chuckled, immediately pulling you into his arms as he tried to untie the robe.
“nuh-uh. not so fast. i’m still hungry”, you teased him, slapping his hands away. “after dinner, baby.”
“god, you’re such a fucking tease”, he groaned in frustration and leaned back. “at least let me hold you. i haven’t been able to cuddle with you in two weeks because your stupid bridesmaids forbade me to be with you because of that stupid bad luck hoax.”
“yeah… i missed you a lot, too. i really did. but hey, now we’re here and we got two whole weeks to catch up on that lost time, huh?”, you grinned, peppering kisses over his neck, melting into his arms as you simply enjoyed his presence.
“oh, fuck, yes we are. and believe me, we’ll be fucking quite a lot, too, so get ready for that, babe”, he smirked as he kissed you on the lips but depriving you of that simple pleasure by pulling away quickly after.
you pouted and he just laughed at how cute you were, kissing your temple again.
“don’t worry, we’ll get to do that more than you could wish for in our future together, hm?”
a couple of minutes later, the elevator door dinged and the delivery person arrived, leaving your food on the table. marius went ahead and gave the kid a generous tip, smiling gently as the kid wanted to refuse since it was quite a lot, but marius shut down any protests and the kid thanked him profusely and congratulated you both for your wedding before leaving.
it was obvious, the tabloids were having a field day with marius von hagen, the bachelor of his social standing, finally settling down and getting married.
once the food was ready to eat, you both dove in, you let out a groan at how good it all tasted and you giggled when you saw marius stare at you, the sound you let out was not one you usually let out outside of the bedroom.
“damn, you must have been starving, huh?”, marius laughed lightly and dove in himself.
you continued eating as you talked, chatted about everything before you started to clean up the leftovers and moved to the bedroom where marius finally untied the knot of your robe, gently pushing the silk fabric over your shoulders and revealing probably the hottest set of lingerie he ever had seen you wear. and this was all for him.
“fuck, baby, you’re so gorgeous”, he groaned, one hand on your cheek as he kissed you as the other slowly wandered down your body, before he snapped the clip of your bra open to let it fall down your body.
his lips quickly latched onto one of your nipples, as he played with the other with his fingers, pinching, squeezing and rolling his thumb over the sensitive nub. you let out a soft moan, hands buried in his hair as your eyes fluttered shut.
“ah, fuck, marius, please”, you whimpered; he slowly pushed you towards the massive bed as you laid down and he was on top of you immediately.
“you sound so sweet for me, baby. don’t worry, i’ll fuck you. i’ll fuck you so good your legs won’t stop shaking because of how good you feel and we’ll be covered in our mess”, he whispered, his voice soft and gentle but his actions were not.
he pulled your panties aside to expose your cunt, smiling as you were clenching around nothing when the cold air hit your needy pussy. “so needy and so fucking wet, all for me”, he mumbled before he pulled your panties off and threw the fabric away.
“you looked divine in that lingerie but my favorite will still be you naked underneath me, sweetheart”, he mumbled before he spread your legs with his hands, they were gripping your thighs so hard you were sure you would feel the grip tomorrow still.
“let me eat that pretty pussy of yours, hm? had me deprived of your taste for two weeks, let me remind you of how good i can eat you”, he groaned before he dove in, lips sucking on your clit as his flattened tongue licked up a stripe over your pussy, and then again and again.
“marius!”, you whimpered his name, a sob leaving your lips as you felt him tease you and edge you over and over, never continuing long enough to make you come for him. “please, don’t- don’t tease me.”
“oh, let me have my fun, sweetie, huh?”, he pouted innocently. “i deserve this after being forced into a dry spell for two whole weeks.”
“idiot”, you whimpered. “but okay, fuck, yes, you do.”
“exactly, good girl”, he giggled, kissing all over your thighs and getting back closer to your pussy. “you deserve to cum for that.”
before you could say anything else, his tongue was buried back in your folds as you moaned out loudly, he flattened his tongue once more and played with your clit as you thrashed around and with a loud whine you finally came, hips jerking up and you whined as his nose was right against your sensitive clit.
he laughed lightly as he forcefully spread your legs again as they had wrapped around his head when that orgasm hit you like a truck.
“keep those pretty legs spread, baby. need my snack, hm? haven’t tasted you in so long, i’m starving”, he groaned against your pussy before he spat on it and rubbed the mix of your cum and his spit with his thumb on your clit, smirking at how your hips twitched up and down again.
“marius, fuck, it’s– ah, it’s too much”, you whined, fingers buried in his hair as the overstimulation hit and you were shaking and trembling in his tight grasp, eyes shut as you cried out when he played around with your clit.
he slowly entered two fingers in your pussy, moving them in and out in a quick pace as you ended up coming once more, creaming around his fingers and you tried to catch your breath as he pulled his fingers out and crawled back on top of you after placing one last gentle kiss on your thigh.
“came so good for me, baby, god, i’m so proud of you”, he groaned softly, he laid down next to you before he pulled you on top of him, your lower body still covered by the panties that barely even covered anything.
you quickly pulled up his t-shirt, he helped you get it off his gorgeous body, before you leaned down again, wandering down his chest and abs with your lips, before you got to his pants and pulled it off alongside his boxers, his cock slapped against his stomach as you noticed the precum leaking from his angry red tip, smiling at how needy he had gotten for you.
“fuck, baby, you’re so hard”, you giggled, slowly wrapping his hand around your husband’s cock and teasingly and gently jerking him off. “you’re so adorable.”
“stop teasing me and let me fuck those pretty lips of yours, hm?”, marius groaned, hand on the back of your head as he pushed you closer to his cock and you nodded eagerly, wrapping your lips around his tip, taking him down your throat and gagging as you challenged your gag reflex. “such a good girl for me, fuuuck. taking your husband’s cock so good like the perfect wife you are, don’t you?”
he guided your head deeper down his cock, you spluttered as you took down more than you thought you could, spit was connecting your lips with his tip as you went back up to catch your breath. “come on, baby, make me cum. make your husband cum for you, all the way down your throat”, he urged you on, as you went down on him again, your tongue flattening over his length as you went back up.
it didn’t take long – he had been on the edge ever since he learned that he wasn’t going to be allowed to see you in the two weeks before the wedding. he was coming down your throat and whimpered your name over and over again, the soft giggle he let out as he was coming down from the haze of his orgasm had you smile softly, you placed a gentle kiss on his tip before you laid down on top of him again, kissing him as your hands buried into his hair.
“fuck, baby, you did so well”, he mumbled into the kiss, turning you both around again, that you were underneath him once more and he kissed you, the kiss starting out so gentle before it grew desperate, hungry.
“i need to fuck you, baby, god, i missed that pussy of yours so bad”, he grunted as he pulled the lacy panties down your legs. he had his cock in his hand, jerking off for a moment before he tapped your clit with his tip, smirking as you twitched from the previous overstimulation.
“please, i’m ready, baby, please, just fuck me”, you begged, arms around his shoulders and you waited for him so patiently, your eyes pretty much sparkling as you looked at him. “please?”
“fuck, you’re so sweet, baby”, he groaned, aligning his tip with your entrance and working his length inside, not full on slamming his cock inside like he would usually but slowly, inch by inch until he was buried deep inside. “feels so good to be back, baby, god, i missed that pussy of yours way too much.”
“i missed your cock, marius, baby”, you whined, burying your face into the crook of his neck, “and i missed you, so fucking much. two weeks apart of you was literal hell, please, don’t ever leave me for such a long time again.”
as he fucked you, keeping everything slow and romantic, with kisses over your face, lips and neck, you felt tears well up in your eyes from the overstimulation and the fact that you hadn’t seen him until you were standing in front of him in your wedding dress.
“oh, baby, are you crying?”, he gently mumbled, stopping his movements altogether for a moment as he watched your every single reaction carefully. “shh, don’t cry, baby, everything is okay, what’s wrong?”
“n-nothing”, you sniffled softly, your hand on his cheek as you looked into his gorgeous purple eyes. “i just missed you so, so much. being apart from you was just too much for me to handle and now you’re here, with me and i just.. fuck i’m just so in love with you, marius. i was feeling too much at once and everything just got too much.”
marius chuckled softly and you felt something wet drop onto your shoulder. “i feel the same, baby, i almost started sobbing earlier because i was just so happy. it was so crazy”, he mumbled.
everything was so incredibly emotional either of you forgot you had planned on fucking each other’s brains out for a moment.
“i love you, so much”, he mumbled, smiling against your jaw.
“i love you, too, baby”, you replied, finally remembering that he still was buried deep in your pussy and laughed at the current situation. you shook your head as you smiled at him softly and your lips parted as you felt him move slowly again, the grunts he let out with each thrust were like music to your ears.
“ah, fuck, marius, please!”, you whined nails scraping his back as you felt yourself get closer to the edge once more, the knot in your tummy so fucking close to snap. “don’t stop, please, don’t stop.”
his pace grew harder, faster and he grunted lowly before he let out a long groan, hips stilling as his orgasm hit him so intense that his own legs were shaking, he filled you up and made your tummy feel so warm. this simple thing triggered your own orgasm, having you cry out his name before you started to calm down, your body still shaking in the aftershocks.
“my pretty girl, you came so good for me, baby. took my cock so well”, he mumbled, kissing all over your face. you loved his praises, those dirty words coming out of his mouth and making you feel so giddy and happy.
“more”, you mumbled softly, almost so quiet that he didn’t hear you. but he did. he would always.
“more? can you handle more, baby?”, he asked with a smirk and genuine worry. he knew that you were sensitive, twitching at every single touch of his.
“mhm, i can”, you whispered, “i know i can. need you more.”
marius nodded before he resumed his thrusts, first slowly, testing the waters with how you reacted on the additional stimulation before he started going harder and faster, skin slapping against skin as he fucked you over and over, filling you with his cum once more.
“such a pretty doll for me, baby, so fucking pretty, come for me, make me proud and just make a mess of me, of us, huh?”, he egged you on. marius grabbed your legs as he pushed your legs up into a mating press, and you moaned loudly, letting out a sob as everything slowly became too much to handle.
“fuck, you’re so wet, baby”, he groaned, “so fucking easy to fuck you now, isn’t it? you like that, baby? like how i fuck you so hard your legs are trembling from the stimulation?”
“yes! ah, fuck, yes”, you cried out, as you creamed once more around him, sobbing as he once more stilled his hips deep inside of you, burying his seed so deep inside of you, before he pulled out, giggling in the post-orgasmic haze as he watched his cum drip out and making a mess of the sheets.
“you’re so fucking hot, baby, i can’t get enough of you”, he mumbled as he laid down next to you, pulling you into his arms and softly massaging your body as you both were so incredibly exhausted. “but let’s get you cleaned up first and sleep, huh? you look so exhausted, i don’t want to force you to more than you can handle”, he whispered softly before he rolled off the bed and grabbed you to carry you towards the bathroom where he turned on the shower.
he grabbed some soap and gently massaged the gel onto your skin, before he washed everything off, especially the cum that had started drying out on your thighs.
once you were both settled and dressed again, you cuddled, he was holding you from behind as you both slowly winded down and fell asleep in each others arms.
“wake up, babe”, you heard him mumbling into you ear as you stretched your body, smiling at him with a tired look in your eyes. “good morning, sweetheart.”
“good morning”, you mumbled back, enjoying the warmth of his body next to yours and the sun shining right into your face.
“did you sleep well after yesterday?”, marius chuckled lightly, planting a soft kiss on your cheek. “i didn’t go too rough on you, did i?”
“mh, no, don’t worry. i’m good”, you replied as you turned around in his arms. “it was perfect. you were perfect.”
once you both got up from the bed and got dressed – you simply put on one of his shirts because you were lazy for anything else – you went to the kitchen, putting on an apron and started putting some things together for breakfast. “hey, i could’ve ordered us something!”, marius protested when he stepped out of the shower and went into the kitchen as well, drying off his upper body.
“no, i can just cook something really quick, don’t worry. it’s fine”, you replied with a soft smile, kissing him gently. it was intended to be just a peck but… to be fair, when did one single kiss with marius stay just one single quick kiss?
the kiss quickly turned into something deeper, the passion and need you both felt for each other was not dealt with last night as you both were not only overstimulated but also exhausted from the last two weeks of wedding preparations and the ceremony plus reception.
“i should get back to making breakfast, don’t want it to burn”, you mumbled but couldn’t stop him at all, all defenses in your body melting by the second as he practically devoured you.
“i don’t care what you want to do, i’ll order you the best breakfast possible. just let me fuck you”, he groaned as he untied the knot of the apron and pulled it off your neck, before he lifted your – well, his – shirt up and pushed you against the counter. he quickly turned the stove off and put the pan aside so it wouldn’t burn down, before he had two of his fingers buried in your cunt, making you cry out at the sudden intrusion.
“a-ah! fuck”, you moaned, eyes fluttering shut as he looked down on you, watching those pretty expressions unfold on your face, lips parting into a little ‘o’ as you couldn’t bring out a sound anymore, he lifted one of your legs with his free hand and wrapped it around his waist as he held you tightly. his fingers were moving fast, the wet sounds were so embarrassing for you but you were so fucked out, you couldn’t remember what you were going to do.
“come for me, baby, take my fingers and come for me”, he groaned into your ear, curling his fingers as he hit your sweet spot as your body trembled and you creamed around his fingers.
marius smiled at your fucked out expression as you tried to calm down again, pulling his fingers out again before he licked them clean, letting out a grunt at how good you tasted.
“need to fuck you, baby”, he mumbled against your neck and he pulled down his shorts before he lifted you onto the kitchen counter and aligned his cock with your entrance.
once he was buried deep inside, there was nothing holding him back any longer. the difference to yesterday was, he was just straight up needy this morning. he fucked you like his life depended on it, rough, hard and relentless. the only goal in marius’ mind was to fuck his cum in you and get you pregnant with his heir.
“you like that, don’t you, baby?”, he moaned into you ear. “the thought of me fucking you until you get pregnant with my baby, our baby.”
you could only nod, your brain was fully empty ever since he had his dick back inside of you and you couldn’t help but cry out when you felt his cock repeatedly hit your sweet spot. nothing else mattered in that moment, not now.
you would think of the consequences later.
marius’ thrusts grew more and more erratic before he stilled, his cum deep in your core and he leaned his head against your shoulder as you hugged him, not caring that you didn’t reach your high. he just looked so vulnerable right now, nothing else mattered.
“fuck, i can’t get enough of you, baby”, he whispered. “don’t care how many times i say it, just need more and more of you. you’re my everything.”
and before you knew it, he was rubbing your clit with his thumb, proceeding to fuck his seed in your womb with his cock and having you cry out as you came and made a mess of everything as you squirted.
“such a good girl for me, baby”, he mumbled. “wanna go back to bed and let your husband fuck you again?”
the only reply you could give was a nod, smiling as he easily carried you off to bed again to make you feel like in heaven again.

➽ Things NXX members do when you get sick
Tumblr media
Warnings: established relationships, character and reader live together, pure fluff, SFW, reader doesn’t have to be Rosa, gn reader
Word count: 754
A/N: some fluff to clear my thoughts and make me less stressed TT, I’m in love with all of them.
Luke Pearce
Tumblr media
A little panicked, as soon as you stumbled out of your room to go on about your day, your face flushed for no apparent reason he yelped, “No way you’re going anywhere today! You’re staying at home and recovering!”
Literally rushes to the convenience store nearby to buy you medicine. You wake up from your nap to see him drenched in sweat with a plastic bag in his hand and a smile on his face.
Knows your favorite foods that you eat when you're sick and tries his best to make it but, well, he’s not the best cook. So he buys some instead.
He makes sure that you take your medicines on time and always stays by your side.
Drowns you in hugs and kisses, no matter what you say or do can make him stop. “Luke! You’re going to get sick as well!” he continues to drown you in love and affection.
Such a cutie, trying his best to take care of you. Cheers you up by telling stories, either from his past or funny stories of you guys.
Artem Wing
Tumblr media
Immediately pulls you back to bed as soon as he feels your temperature. “You have a fever. You need to stay home and rest.”
A lot calmer than Luke or Marius.
Has basic medicine at home, since he’s a workaholic he takes medicine and works from home. Quickly drives to the nearest convenience store to buy more medicine, if needed. He won’t do anything like that to you though. Insists you stay in bed.
Offers to clear up work or studies for you if on a deadline or urgent.
Home cooked meals, he’s a great cook, I just know it.
Such a serious and worried cutie, tries his best to help. Offers his arm for support wherever you go and feeds you water every 30 minutes.
Vyn Richter
Tumblr media
Notices something is off almost instantly. “You don’t look so well.” “I’m fine.” after a few moments of silence, and of him inspecting you, “You’re sick. You need to rest.”
Definitely the calmest in the group. I mean he’s a doctor. Psychiatrist, but he still has the general medical knowledge.
Has ALL the medicine you need, throat lozenges? check. Tylenol for headaches? check. No convenience store run for him.
Brews you herbal tea depending on your symptoms and omg are they delicious and cures your sore throat almost instantaneously. Reminds you to take your medicine on time, never misses one.
Acts as an actual doctor in hopes of cheering you up, “It seems like you’ve been overworked for too long, too much stress. I prescribe you 3-5 days of rest.” “Yes, Dr. Richter~” you play along, having fun.
Marius von Hagen
Tumblr media
At first he panicked when he felt your body rising in temperature. “Ah! Jiejie, why’re you so hot?” You laugh at his wording, even if your throat hurts. “I know I’m hot, but thanks for the reassurance” you tease him back. “You have a fever, Jiejie!” he says, touching your forehead, ignoring what you just said.
Such a drama queen. Has Payton bring every single medicine they could find in that huge mansion of his as well as send Payton to go buy every single medicine on the shelf of the nearby convenience store.
Was about to call the ambulance, which you refused of course, “It’s just a fever! Rest and water is all I need!” He insists on driving you to the hospital. After a talk with Payton, both of you begging Marius that it’s not that bad, he reluctantly agrees.
He contacts AT LEAST 3 doctors to come immediately to treat you. All of this makes you even more tired, you decide to lie down and take a break from all of his… worried actions…
He finally finds you in his room, all wrapped up and sleeping. He stays by your side the whole time, offering help when not even needed.
“Where are you going?” “To the toilet.” “Let me help.” He helps bring you to the toilet, just as you step inside he doesn’t leave. You raise an eyebrow. “Um?” “I can help!” “I don’t need help anymore! I can pee by myself!” “but-” “Marius, get out!” ”forgive him. He just worries about you <3
Once you get better though, ohoho, he’s teasing you about this every chance he gets. You soon miss the quiet days of your fever and how he was always worried and listening to you. Now he’s back to his teasing and antics.

hi y'all! here's the full part 2 i've been working on for some time! thanks for the support on the last one and again, so sorry for the late continuation :/ i hope this story is to your liking! happy reading!
Tumblr media
After the first one-on-one conversation you had in the living room, Orm didn't come out of the guest bedroom for days. You’d see flashes of platinum blonde out of the corner of your eye, just barely missing him by a few seconds whenever you’d be in the kitchen or outside of his door. You had made many offers through the red painted oak of his room to go grocery shopping together or take him on a tour of the town, but all of your efforts were met with a stern "No thank you." You had lost any hope you had of forming some kind of connection with the Atlantean for a while, cutting your losses by quietly resigning to a parallel existence. What you didn’t expect was the mutual understanding you two would come to on one fateful stormy Friday night, much like the one that brought him to your doorstep.
***
 Heavy traffic from the drive home, a full message inbox on your telephone, and the burnt attempt at roast chicken sitting on your oven rack had you nursing a glass bottle of wine by the living room window. Bad days were normal for anybody, but it didn’t make them easier to deal with on your own - the added stress of the stranger living in your space didn’t help either. You had been living a quiet life ever since you moved back to the sleepy town some years ago, taking up very little space and leaving minimal traces of yourself. Whether it was out of caution or cowardice, you weren’t sure yet. Either way, that silence had brought you comfort at a time where your thoughts were too loud, but now with another person occupying your space the quiet was becoming suffocating.
Orm wasn’t by any means a bad roommate - he kept to himself, he didn’t make much noise, and he even managed to wash his dishes whenever he knew you weren’t in the kitchen - but he was a man.The last time you had lived with a man, the end of its course felt similar to how you two were living now, and maybe that’s why it was bothering you so much. Tip-toeing around the Atlantean made you feel uneasy in your own home, a situation you were all too familiar with. Typically at this time in the night you would be cooking up some plan to urge the man out of his guest room, but after the day you had, you didn’t have the heart to try.
Once you took your final gulp of wine, wiping at the sides of your mouth with the back of your hand, you trudged away from the raging display outside of your window. The dishes could be a tomorrow problem, you thought to yourself as you were leaving your kitchen counter behind. You had only made it a few paces out of the living room before your body was overcome with chills, making you draw your blanket tighter around you. The draft through the house was unmistakable, confusing you thoroughly due to you always making sure the doors and windows were shut before bed. As you stepped deeper into the house, you realized the distinct breeze was coming from the direction of the guest bedroom. You had made it a point to allow Orm his space, but your brain was stirring with reasons for what he could possibly be doing in there  - most of them unsavory.
With a deep breath and a tight fist holding your blanket, you gently rapped at the door.
“Hey, Orm?”
No response. You knock again.
“I don’t mean to bother, but I’m feeling a bit of a breeze through the house and I can tell it’s coming from here, so I just want to see if everything is alri-”
The door suddenly opened a crack, revealing half of Orm’s face which was already more than you had seen in days.
“If you don’t mean to bother, then don’t.”
The curt response, although expected, has you taken aback. Already seeing the Atlantean retreat from the spot again, you hold the door in its place in effort to keep his attention.
“Look, I know you wanna be alone, but I can’t help wondering why a cold ass breeze is coming from your room, so I just want to see what’s going on. Please, it’s freezing right now.” You do your best to keep control of your tone, not wanting to let on just how much the cold was getting to you - giving the prince another reason to look down on humans wasn’t on your agenda for the night.
 Almost as if he commanded the storm, the lightning cracked loudly outside as Orm swung his door open, revealing his full disheveled state to you. You jolted in place, practically leaping a step back in defense at the swift move.
“What’s going on is the stench of your burnt dinner was practically singeing my nostrils. I opened a window in hopes that I could find some relief, because clearly you surface dwellers have no trouble polluting not only the ocean, but your precious breathing air as well! I have little care for how cold your fragile body may get, so I suggest you retire to your room at once and leave me be.”
There was a gap in the yelling match conversation, almost as if the blond was waiting for you to bite back at his harsh words, but the glazed look in your eyes and parted lips made it evident to the Atlantean that your mind was elsewhere. Orm followed your gaze, noticing that it was locked onto the maroon sweater he was adorning, looking at it with equal parts surprise and melancholy. His enhanced hearing picked up on a hitch in your breath and chattering of your teeth, confirming to him that you were clearly shaken.
After the long silence, you mousily spoke.
“I didn’t leave that sweater out for you.”
 The arbitrary words silenced Orm, his expression turning to one of confusion as he looked down at the knit fabric on his chest.
“...where did you find it?”
Your voice didn’t change in volume when you made your inquiry, but your tone was somber. The candid emotion made the Atlantean clear his throat awkwardly, unsure of how to handle such vulnerability from his host. You couldn’t even fully appreciate how much messier Orm looked in comparison to when he first arrived - looking like a 90s wet dream with his ungelled hair, clenched jaw, and broad shoulders peeking out of his loose fitting clothes. No, it was the clothes that were holding your attention hostage.
“It was deep in the wooden wardrobe of my room…the garb you set out for me wasn’t suitable for the storm,” Orm says, arms crossed in a defensive manner as he anticipates your response.
A part of you wanted to laugh at his retort, the corner of your lips quirking up for a millisecond before melting back into the numb expression you had prior.
“Are you going to ask me to change? Because I don’t see why I should relent,” the blond goads, pulling a haughty expression that comes all too naturally.
Orm wasn’t sure himself why he wanted to urge a response from you - why he wanted to learn more about this sweater that was clearly jumbling up your thoughts enough to render you so silent. He tried to chalk it up to plain boredom, tried to reason with himself that all his time in self-isolation was making him yearn for more. Still, even with those excuses lined up to justify his actions, he couldn’t explain why seeing the down-turned expression on your lips felt so unnerving. This woman in front of him now was like a shell in comparison to the buoyant, eccentric character he had been previously introduced to - and for some bizarre reason he didn’t like it.
Your thought process, on the other hand, was going in a completely different route. The glaringly red knit in your line of sight brought back too many memories that you had made efforts to bury. The cursed sweater in combination with the Atlantean prince’s snark makes your breath quicken and your mind wander to the whisper of a past life that still takes up space in your home. You couldn’t decipher if your shivering was coming from Orm’s open window or from your body trying to eject all of the feelings evoked from seeing that damn sweater.
“I-I…you…you shouldn’t-” you shakily exhale, your eyes surveying around your surroundings to try and focus on literally anything else. You backstep, hoping that physically running away from the situation will do you good, but your eyes lining up with the red-clad chest and the sound of the booming thunder makes you falter. Your hand clutches at your chest, the white knuckled grip on your blanket alerting your roommate.
The prince's body calls to action, making Orm take an instinctive step forward, reaching out as if to try and steady you.
“What is happening with you? Why are you so high-strung? Do humans go into cardiac arrest so easily?”
You couldn’t hear his stern questioning, your mind flitting to images of firm fists slammed against tables and nights spent alone, buried deep under your covers in the hopes of being swallowed by the sheets. It was like the space in your lungs was being taken up by a vice grip, and your ability to think - to form a simple thought that didn’t make your heart hurt - was completely ripped away from you. Even after four years, the memories of him still have so much power over you in a way that’s paralyzing.
“I-I just - I need - I need to breathe!”
With that final exclamation, you scurried away from the Atlantean, quickly making it back to your room before slamming the door shut behind you. Orm was left stunned outside of his door, his eyes trained in the direction of your room down the hall.
What the hell just happened?
***
Arthur was done - so done.
The newly crowned Atlantean king had so much on his plate already, what with his upcoming engagement underway and him having an entire kingdom to look after. While he did appreciate his little brother feeling comfortable enough to call him at such an ungodly hour, the words the blond uttered made him want to pull his hair out.
“I think I broke her - your human.”
“Bro, what?”
It was too fucking early for this.
“Don’t call me - agh, nevermind - something’s wrong with your human and I’m not sure how to approach the situation. Is this really an environment you believe me to find enrichment from? My host is clearly on the brink of some sort of breakdown and I-”
“Wow, I never took you for someone that was so easily shaken, brother.”
Arthur’s poorly timed quip makes Orm stare back at the projection call with a blank face.
“First off, she’s not my human, she’s her own person. Second, what did you even do? She’s not one to just collapse on her own - although she is a serial overthinker and could definitely talk herself to an early grave...”
Orm, frustrated with his half-brother’s lack of support, rolls his eyes over the call.
“Okay, okay, but seriously. Something must’ve set her off or triggered her to react in a way. You sure you didn’t do anything?”
“All I did was answer the door when she knocked. When she saw me at the entrance, she saw the sweater I was wearing and was overcome with emotion. That’s hardly my fault.”
Orm can see Arthur’s brows furrow in thought at the information, almost as if he’s assessing whether he’s been given the whole story or not.
“Well…where’d you get the sweater?”
“I hardly think that matters-”
“Just answer the question, bro-”
An exasperated grunt leaves Orm as he grips at the sheets beneath him in an attempt to contain himself. A part of him regretted bringing up the matter at all, communication with his half-brother being much too awkward to bear.
“I got it from the wooden wardrobe inside of my chambers! It was much more practical to wear than the flimsy garb-”
“Shit,” Arthur cuts him off, the hologram shifting as the man rubs at his eyes. “The wooden wardrobe with vines on the sides?”
It was Orm’s turn to be taken aback, unsure of how he knew the detail from off the top of his head.
“Yes, that’s the one.”
A muffled sigh comes from Arthur’s end, the image changing again as the king shuffles out of bed quietly to not disturb a sleeping Mera.
“Listen, dude. It’s not my place to speak on her business like this, but all I can say is that the wardrobe - that room - holds a lot of memories that are painful for her. I know you didn’t mean to bring them up, but that wardrobe is off limits. Just try and apologize for now, but don’t pry.”
“But why should I-”
“Orm, seriously! I get it, you don’t like being there - that you’ve spent every day in your room ever since I dropped you off, but she’s been trying. She’s been doing everything she can to get you out of your shell and you’re not giving back anything. There has to be some give here, and that can start with you saying sorry.”
Orm was surprised by the fact that Arthur knew of his daily whereabouts already, undoubtedly asking you for updates on him. However, what surprised him the most was that even though you have seemingly complained to his half brother, you never once suggested kicking him out - never demanded he leave your house and have Atlantis deal with him. You truly were a peculiar little thing.
“...fine. But don’t expect me to continue such niceties with her.”
A belly laugh could be heard from over the call, surely out of amusement for the prince's unwavering coldness.
“Good. Now hang up, you disrupted my beauty sleep.”
With a scoff, Orm presses on the green gem of his wristlet and heads off to the direction of your room.
***
When Orm knocks on your door, he expects a big fuss - bouts of yelling, arguing, or cursing that’ll leave his highly sensitive ears ringing. What he doesn’t expect is everyone of his knocks being met with silence - deafening silence now that the storm has subsided.
“Hello?”
The prince feels weirdly small waiting by your door for your answer, having no clue what he’ll be met with on the other side of him. (It also gives him some insight on how you must feel every time you knock on his door to chat, although he’d never admit to having similarities with you,)
“Are you ignoring me?”
More silence.
“Oh, enough of this childishness.”
With a deep breath in, Orm turns the knob of your door and lets himself into your room. He’s met with colorful tapestries embellishing the walls, big rugs covering the hardwood floor, and twinkling lights surrounding the bed frame. The scene that you set for yourself in your room makes Orm think about his home - the way that the colorful bioluminescence would sparkle throughout his kingdom.
When the initial first impression of your room wears off, he notices there is no one in the bed. No squirming presence under the sheets or anyone sitting on top of the bed to give him a stern talking to. Where did you go?
The blond takes a tentative step inside, stepping over the fuzzy carpets to keep from disturbing their arrangement. When he walks past the bed frame and closer to the window, he sees a lump of a human wearing a large blanket over their shoulders and some type of bulky headgear that covers your ears and emits sound. You were completely enthralled by the scene outside of the window that you hardly notice Orm stepping up next to you.
A sudden hand on your shoulder has you jolting upward with a yelp, your hand instinctively slapping away at the intruder before you turn to look at where they came from.
“Jesus fucking christ!”
Orm gets into his own defensive position as you scramble to press your back against the wall, looking at you as if you were a trembling animal.
“My god, woman!”
“What are you doing in here you scared me half to-”
“I knocked but there was no answer so I-”
“Oh, so you decided to just welcome yourself in?”
Orm purses his lips in frustration, not thrilled at being met with the uproar he had originally expected. You sigh to yourself in disbelief, willing yourself to be quiet since there would be no productive conversation if you two kept yelling at each other.
“Next time just take the hint that I’m busy if I don’t answer, okay? You can’t just barge in here when you want, it’s not cool…”
The Atlantean has some sense to feel a shred of shame when you speak, although your words are hardly convincing when your eyes don’t turn in his direction for even a second. You look so timid standing there in your corner with the blanket consuming you completely - not at all like the spitfire that called him an “asshole” and warned him not to “test her.” (He secretly felt some relief in your loud exchange mere moments ago, because it meant that version of you was still there.)
“I…I apologize for intruding.”
Your head whips up to finally meet the man’s piercing blues, your mouth left slightly agape at an actual apology leaving the arrogant Atlantean’s lips.
“Uh…it’s okay...although, try not to do it again.”
Another moment of awkward silence passes.
“So…why’d you come in here?”
You ask this question as you take a seat back on the floor, resuming your position of staring out of the window only this time without your headphones. You pat the spot next to you on the floor, urging Orm to sit next to you. With a small eye roll, the blond begrudgingly joins you on your multi-colored carpet, opting to rest his arms against his knees as means to shield himself from you.
“I came here to apologize, not just for barging in, but for what happened earlier. I shouldn’t have gone through the wardrobe without your permission even if I needed different clothes. I should’ve asked you instead of rifling through your belongings on my own accord.”
His apology, although rehearsed, seems genuine enough for your shoulders to relax. Your eyes follow the droplets of rain slowly trickling down the glass of your window, racking your brain for the right thing to say.
“It’s okay. You didn’t do anything wrong, I just…I haven’t revisited the memories that room brings in a long time. You putting on that sweater unearthed them today, and it got me bad. See, I was having a shit day already what with keeping up with the shop, and then an accident causing traffic on the way home, and the wine that I usually like being out of stock-”
Your rambling gets cut off by a soft chuckle coming from the man next to you, a sound that seems so uncharacteristically happy for his usual demeanor. The corners of your mouth perk up in disbelief, the expression making Orm quickly look away from you.
“Huh. So that’s what your laugh sounds like. It’s nice…”
Orm didn’t understand why he reacted in such a way, you weren’t saying anything particularly funny…
…It’s just the way your eyes became so animated as you spoke more, your hands gesturing stronger as you explained further - it was amusing to him. So different from the usual company he keeps, always firmly placed brows and crossed arms from the high council members he consulted. Even the Atlantean women, although much more pleasant company, were more regal in comparison to his surface dweller host.  However, what you did have in common with those women was your tenacity. Even with his cold attitude towards you, your kindness was unwavering - a few times a day, without fail, you’d knock on his door with the promise of food and semi-entertaining company. He’s starting to regret only agreeing to the food.
God, he must be going stir crazy.
“What is it about the sweater that made you react in such a way?”
This was when you noticed that Orm was no longer wearing the offending material, choosing to wear the simping cotton T shirt you had given him. It may have been nothing - a simple delusion on your part - but the weight on your chest felt lighter at the idea that the Atlantean took it off to bring you comfort.
“It - uh,” you stuttered, “it belonged to my ex-boyfriend. All of the stuff in that wardrobe did, actually. We painted the vines on the side of it together…”
Orm’s arms flexed tighter around his knees at your words. He didn’t know how to respond, feeling significantly awkward due to adorning your ex lover’s clothing, so he decided to just shut up and let you continue.
“When I was 14 my parents got divorced. My mom wanted so badly to make it work, but my dad didn’t like his life here in Amnesty Bay - a part of me felt like he also didn’t like his life with us in general. I mean, he never had a problem making his grievances known, so…”
Now, this was something the blond was familiar with - uncomfortable family dynamics. The realities of his parents’ marriage were never shielded from him growing up - he often witnessed the brutality of his father whenever his mother, Atlanna, would make her opposing opinions known. He often felt conflicted about which side to take - the one of least resistance that prioritized the well-being of his people or the one that looked out for the well-being of everyone, Atlanteans and surface dwellers alike. Hearing you now, speak your piece on your own upbringing, comforted him in a way he didn’t expect.
“The divorce was messy. Lots of nights spent being pulled in every direction, but with no real place to find peace. After everything settled, my dad ended up moving to New York while my mom remained here. They agreed that for the school year I’d stay with my mom, so she’d have some help at the flower shop, but I’d visit him on major holidays…”
The blanket around you suddenly feels too thin, a chill running over you as you recount your tale. You take a sneaky glance over your shoulder to check if the blond was still listening, and you were surprised (and delighted) to find that his steadfast gaze was at the side of your face.
“...At some point during my years at university, my mom stopped asking me to visit - demanded that I only live with my dad when I was out of school. You can imagine Arthur had his qualms about that…”
You chuckled to yourself at the memory of a young Arthur blowing up your home phone upon hearing the news.
“It would only be for the same visiting time as before, so there wasn’t much fuss on my dad’s end, but my relationship with him had become so different after the divorce that it wasn’t ideal. It…It hurt to hear my mom reject me like that.”
Orm’s mind flashes back to the rain soaked figure of his mother, presenting herself to be siding with his half-brother after his defeat. The sting of her counteraction still lingers in his chest.
“When I had started dating my ex during my third year, I found out the reason my mom was keeping me from home - she got sick…cancer. All of the overworking to pay the bills, lack of support, and the hereditary traits…she got really sick. I guess she didn’t want me to see her in so much pain…”
Orm watches as you turn away to stubbornly wipe at your face, a sniffle coming from your direction. He hadn’t expected you to willingly speak on your background when he asked about the sweater, but a part of him felt guilty for being the cause of your current distress.
“When she died, I moved back here to look after the house and take over the shop…but my ex had moved in with me. Darren.”
More tears fell from your cheeks at the same speed as the rain running down your window.
“Darren offered to help me with the business, help me get on my feet. A part of me knew that he was going to hate the life we were starting together based on talks we had about the future, but I ignored it all when my grief became the only thing I felt for a long time. He always wanted more - more than our little town, more than the flower shop…so when an opportunity presented itself to have a life on his own, he took it. Just like my dad did…”
 Orm’s heart drops at the end of your retelling, knowing the feeling of rejection and abandonment all too well. His father would be rolling in his grave if he knew what feelings this little surface dweller was stirring in him. The gap between the Atlanteans and the humans was closing in his mind, and Orm wasn’t sure if he cared to stop it. All he wanted at this moment was to stop you from crying.
“I’m sorry for putting on the sweater…and for being an ungracious guest these past few days. I’ve been a real dick.”
You can’t help but guffaw at his choice of words, using your fist to mask the unsightly sound as a cough.
“That’s not a very princely thing to say…”
Orm’s head tilts back as he snickers, feeling slightly proud of himself for inciting a better mood in you.
Ah, that laugh again, you think as you admire how ethereal the man looks in his relaxed state.
“Perhaps my brother is to blame for my much more…colorful vernacular.”
“Perhaps,” you hum in agreement, “or you’re just not as much of a dick as I previously thought…sorry for coming on so strong that first day.”
Orm’s blue eyes shine at you with something unfamiliar - different to the cold, distant stare you were first met with. You find yourself wishing to always be at the receiving end of his kind eyes.
Orm clears his throat before uttering, “No need to be…I was the one that misjudged you before ever seeing you.”
A silence falls over you two, a comforting one built between new comrades. Your (e/c) gaze meets his as the storm calms outside of your window, signaling the start of a new chapter for you and your royal roommate.

Dial Drunk
5 times Enjolras bailed Grantaire out of jail, and one time, well...
The door of the holding cell clanked open and as one, the nine men sitting inside glanced up. “Alright,” the booking officer said in a bored tone, glancing down at his clipboard. “Bail’s been posted for arrestees Bahorel, Combeferre, Courfeyrac, Enjolras, Feuilly, Joly, Lesgle and Prouvaire. You’re free to leave after you sign out at the front desk.”
There were a few grumbles as the men started to get to their feet, but Enjolras remained resolutely seated, his brow furrowed with a frown. “What about Grantaire?”
The man in question chuckled darkly, tilting his head back to rest it against the wall of the holding cell. “Is that actual concern for me that I hear, Apollo? I could die happy.”
Enjolras ignored him. “Pontmercy was supposed to post bail for all of us,” he said instead, aiming his words at Courfeyrac as if the man was somehow still responsible for the actions of his former roommate some five years after they had stopped living together.
Courfeyrac just shrugged. “Don’t look at me,” he said. “I mean, we all know Marius is a bit of an idiot, maybe he miscounted.”
Combeferre shook his head. “I’m probably wrong and should defer to the lawyers amongst us but I thought I remembered reading something in one of the articles about reforming pre-trial detention that an individual can only post bail for 8 detainees at a time.”
“And so I must’ve drawn the short straw,” Grantaire sighed. “Story of my fucking life.”
Bossuet clapped him sympathetically on the shoulder. “On the other hand, you could take it as a compliment that Marius thinks you’re the one most likely to survive an extended stay behind bars.”
Bahorel snorted so loudly the bars of the cell almost rattled. “Sorry but literally not a single one of us would survive an extended stay behind bars.”
“Speak for yourself,” Feuilly said. “I know how to whittle.” At the blank looks he received, he huffed a sigh and added, “So I can make a shank. No wonder none of you would survive in jail.”
“This is making our goal of prison abolition seem oddly self-serving,” Joly murmured in an undertone to Jehan, who stifled a laugh.
Combeferre cleared his throat. “Not that I’m not sympathetic to Grantaire having to be stuck in here, but I’d just like to remind everyone that since Marius posted bail, we’re technically now here voluntarily.”
“Yeah so GTFO,” Grantaire said with a grimace masquerading as a smile. “Let me rot in peace, etcetera.”
Enjolras looked like he wanted to argue more, but Combeferre muttered something in his ear and he made a face before filing out of the cell. “Serious miscalculation on Marius’s part with this one,” Courfeyrac said brightly as he followed everyone else out. “Because God knows you’re going to complain about this for the rest of all time.”
Grantaire gave him the finger and Courfeyrac winked as the officer closed the cell door behind him.
Sighing again, Grantaire sat upright, rolling his shoulders and cracking his neck before settling back against the bench. “You need anything?” the booking officer asked.
Grantaire shook his head. “Nah,” he said dismissively. “Not my first rodeo. Hopefully I won’t be stuck overnight, but I’ve slept in worse places.”
“Oh, yeah?” the officer said with mild interest.
Grantaire nodded. “Central booking at the 16th Precinct is a piece of shit,” he said brightly.
The officer barked a laugh. “I’ll keep that in mind.” He gave Grantaire a long look. “Should I ask what you were picked up for previously?”
Considering the answer to that question was a vast litany of misdemeanors (and felonies reduced to misdemeanors) that the boys in blue tended not to appreciate, Grantaire hesitated. Thankfully, he was saved from having to answer at all by the crackle of the officer’s walkie-talkie. “Just a moment,” the officer told him, heading out of the booking area and Grantaire let out a sigh of relief as he slumped on the bench.
“You’re free to go,” the officer said upon returning, and Grantaire looked up, surprised.
“Really?”
The officer nodded, opening the door to the holding cell. “Bail was posted. So I guess you’ll have to save your rap sheet for the next time you’re in here.”
Grantaire snorted a laugh. “I’d say there won’t be a next time, but…”
He ducked out before the officer could respond to that, making his way to the front desk, stopping in his tracks when he saw Enjolras leaning against the desk, clearly waiting for him. “What’re you doing here?”
Enjolras straightened. “It didn’t feel right leaving you in there,” he said with a shrug that didn’t quite come across as nonchalant as he’d probably intended. “And I happened to have some cash on me, so…”
“Between this and being worried about my welfare, you’re gonna give me the wrong impression,” Grantaire said.
“Guess that depends on what impression you’re getting,” Enjolras said, and Grantaire’s eyes flickered to his and away again, feeling suddenly tongue-tied. Enjolras cleared his throat, a faint blush coloring his cheeks. “Anyway, we should get to the Musain to debrief.” He glanced at Grantaire. “Unless you’ve got something better to do.”
Grantaire just shook his head, and gestured for Enjolras to lead the way. “After you,” he said, his voice low, and together they walked out of the precinct, their arms just brushing against each other as they headed to meet their friends at the Musain.
— — — — —
“Jesus Christ,” Enjolras muttered as the booking officer removed the handcuffs from a sheepish-looking Grantaire. Well, as sheepish as a man sporting the beginnings of a pretty impressive black eye could look, anyway. “Here,” Enjolras said roughly, holding an ice pack out to Grantaire. “I posted your bail as well.”
“Thanks,” Grantaire muttered, taking the ice pack and wincing as he pressed it against his eye.
Enjolras pursed his lips as he gave him a once-over. “Any other injuries I need to worry about?” he asked.
Grantaire just shrugged. “Nothing that won’t heal on its own.”
“Because that’s reassuring,” Enjolras sighed, rubbing his forehead, but when he looked at Grantaire again, there was something almost soft in his expression. “You didn’t need to do that.”
What he could see of Grantaire’s expression tightened, just slightly. “You didn’t hear what that guy called you.”
He said it calmly, evenly, but his hand automatically balled into a fist at the memory. Enjolras reached out automatically to rest his hand on Grantaire’s fist until it relaxed. “It doesn’t matter what he called me,” he said, his voice low. “I can take care of myself.”
“Of course you can,” Grantaire scoffed. “But that doesn’t mean you should have to.”
Enjolras just shook his head, running his thumb across Grantaire’s bruised knuckles, a testament to the fact that despite the black eye, he’d emerged from the fight victorious. “I should’ve brought another ice pack,” he murmured.
Grantaire just half-smiled, twisting his hand so that he could lace his fingers with Enjolras’s. “It’s fine,” he said softly. “It doesn’t really hurt at the moment anyway.”
Enjolras cleared his throat and looked away, but he didn’t try to untangle his fingers from Grantaire’s. “Well,” he said, “we should, uh, get out of here.”
“Before they realize you have about a half dozen outstanding warrants for your arrest?” Grantaire asked with a smirk, his voice quiet enough that only Enjolras could hear.
“You’d be amazed what having a multi-million dollar settlement pending against the city will do to the police’s willingness to bring you in,” Enjolras said with a smirk. “Not that I want to test that, of course.”
“Liar,” Grantaire said, grinning. “But better safe than sorry, I suppose.”
He started toward the door, pausing when Enjolras didn’t immediately follow. “Thank you, by the way,” Enjolras said, and Grantaire glanced back at him.
“Anytime,” he said simply. “Thanks for bailing me out.”
Enjolras gave him a look that was half-amused, half-exasperated. “Just don’t go making a habit of it,” he warned. “One day I won’t be here to bail you out.”
“Only because you’ll probably be locked up with me,” Grantaire said.
“Well,” Enjolras murmured, not quite able to stop his smile, “you’re not wrong.”
— — — — —
Grantaire rested his elbows against the bars of the holding cell, his arms dangling into what was technically freedom on the other side. The booking officer, some new guy he didn’t recognize, gave him a look but didn’t say anything, which he took as a small victory, and he allowed himself a small smirk.
A smirk that faded as soon as he saw Enjolras, escorted by another officer. “No dice on bail?” Grantaire asked, seeing the look on Enjolras’s face.
Enjolras shook his head. “No, they’re going to go through the whole arraignment rigamarole. I’ve already let Pontmercy know.” He made a face, casting an irritated look at the booking officer who was pretending not to listen to their conversation. “Apparently they take battery of a police officer pretty seriously these days.”
“Can’t imagine why,” Grantaire muttered. Enjolras sighed and Grantaire gave him a look. “Don’t even start,” he warned. “This wasn’t about you not being able to take care of yourself—”
“That wasn’t what I was going to say,” Enjolras interrupted, his voice tight. “I’m well aware that cop would’ve bashed my head in if you hadn’t intervened.” He shook his head and sighed again. “I was going to say thank you.”
“Oh,” Grantaire said, managing a tight smile. “You’re welcome.”
Enjolras just shook his head again. “You still shouldn’t have done it,” he continued, “because honestly, I’m not worth all that—”
“You are, though,” Grantaire said, in a tone that brooked no argument. Enjolras scowled and Grantaire rolled his eyes. “Fine, then why don’t we make a deal?” he said. “I’ll stop defending you when you stop bailing me out.”
“At the rate you’re going, I won’t be able to anyway,” Enjolras said sourly. “Not without putting up some major collateral.”
Grantaire shook his head. “And I’m definitely not worth that,” he said.
Enjolras’s eyes met his. “You are, though.”
For a moment, it looked like Grantaire might argue. Instead, he reached for Enjolras’s hand, bringing it up to kiss his knuckles through the bars of the holding cell. “No touching,” the booking officer barked, and Grantaire rolled his eyes as he reluctantly let go of Enjolras’s hand.
“Will you be at my arraignment?” he asked.
Enjolras shrugged. “Someone’s got to post whatever bail amount the judge decides,” he said.
Grantaire half-smiled. “In that case, I’ll be the one in the front.”
“Pretty sure that’ll be the judge,” Enjolras murmured, grinning when Grantaire rolled his eyes. “I’ll see you tomorrow. I promise.”
“It’ll be the only thing that gets me through spending the night in here,” Grantaire told him, and it was Enjolras’s turn to roll his eyes, though there was obvious affection in the motion.
“Pretty sure Bahorel was right,” he said. “You definitely wouldn’t survive in jail.”
Grantaire just shrugged. “Only if you were in there with me.”
Enjolras shook his head, reluctantly backing away toward the door. “Still time,” he said, and Grantaire’s eyes narrowed.
“Don’t you dare do anything stupid while I’m locked up in here.”
Enjolras just smirked. “See you tomorrow,” he called over his shoulder as he left, and Grantaire sighed, though there something strangely content in the noise, despite, or maybe because of, the circumstances.
— — — — —
Grantaire didn’t meet Enjolras’s eyes as he rapped his fingers impatiently against the front desk at the precinct, waiting for them to bring him his personal effects. “Do you have any idea what time it is?” Enjolras asked, his voice tight. Grantaire looked pointedly at the conspicuous clock on the wall and Enjolras’s scowl deepened. “Exactly, it’s 2 in the fucking morning. I have a 7 o’clock meeting, which you knew damn well, so why you had to go pick a bar fight with some guy twice your fucking size—”
“So sorry to be an inconvenience to you,” Grantaire drawled, slurring his words just slightly. “Can’t imagine what it must be like to have made plans that get interfered with by someone else’s priorities.”
Enjolras ground his teeth together. “Are we really doing this here and now?” he asked.
Grantaire just jerked a shrug, not meeting his eyes. “Do you have something better to do?”
Enjolras sighed and scrubbed a tired hand across his face. “I’m sorry that I had to cancel tonight,” he said, with as much patience as he could seemingly muster, considering the circumstances. “But I needed to get this proposal done ahead of the meeting tomorrow, and I don’t really see what the big deal—”
“You never do,” Grantaire interrupted, still not looking at him. “That’s the problem.”
“You knew going into this—”
“Just like you knew going into this that I’m a drunk and a disaster,” Grantaire interrupted, finally looking at Enjolras, his expression hard. “Well, congratulations, Apollo, it looks like we both knew what we were getting into and yet somehow, we’re both still disappointed.”
Enjolras just shook his head. “I’m not,” he said tiredly. “I’m not disappointed, Grantaire, because that would require me to actually expect better from you, and I learned my lesson on that a long time ago.”
Grantaire just grinned, a horrible, twisted grin. “Right back atcha.”
The officer returned with Grantaire’s belongings, and Grantaire grabbed his phone, wallet and keys, returning them to his pockets. Enjolras took a deep breath, but whatever he clearly wanted to say seemed to stick in his throat, and he looked away. “C’mon,” he said instead. “Let’s go home.”
Grantaire nodded once, shoving his hands in his pockets as he slumped after Enjolras, neither man touching the other.
— — — — —
“He’s not technically under arrest,” the cop told Enjolras as he led him back to the holding cell. “But that’s because we couldn’t really mirandize him when he was passed out.”
Enjolras eyed Grantaire, sprawled across the bench in the holding cell, and sighed. “So once he’s coherent, he’ll be charged with, what, drunk and disorderly?”
The officer nodded. “Yeah.” He glanced at Enjolras. “Look, it’s not my place, but, uh, maybe look into getting your friend some help?”
“Yeah,” Enjolras murmured, his expression drawn. “Maybe.” He sighed and turned. “Guess I’ll go preemtively pay his bail—”
“Apollo?” Grantaire croaked, and Enjolras sighed again.
“Give us a moment?” he asked the officer, who just shrugged.
Enjolras crossed to the bars of the holding cell, his arms crossed tightly in front of his chest. “Tell me,” he said, his tone clipped, “were you trying to get hit by a car by passing out in the street, or would have just been a fun little side effect of this spectacular attempt at blowing up your life?”
Grantaire groaned as he forced himself into a sitting position. “Honestly don’t remember if it was deliberate or not,” he muttered, swaying slightly as he blinked unfocusedly at Enjolras.
“There are easier ways of killing yourself,” Enjolras said.
Grantaire managed a small, sharp smile. “Don’t worry, I’ve considered those as well.”
Enjolras’s expression tightened and he looked away. “You used your one phone call for me,” he said.
Grantaire shrugged. “Didn’t know who else to call.”
“Probably anyone besides your ex.” Grantaire flinched and Enjolras sighed before telling him, as firmly as he could manage, “This is the last time. Do you understand?”
Grantaire barked a dry, humorless laugh. “If there’s one thing I can promise, Apollo, it’s that this won’t be the last time.”
“Maybe not for you,” Enjolras said. “But I’m done. So the next time you get picked up for a bar fight or public intoxication or whatever suicidal shit you decide to get yourself into next time, call someone else.”
He didn’t wait for Grantaire to answer, just turning on heel to leave him in the holding cell while he went to go pay his bail.
One last time.
— — — — —
The phone rang, and rang again, and Grantaire’s grip on the phone tightened. “Come on,” he muttered to himself. “Come on, pick up, pick up.”
But the phone just rang until the tinny, robotic voice informed him that no voicemail had been set up for this phone number, and he heaved a sigh as he hung up, a headache blooming in his temples that had absolutely nothing to the better part of a handle of whiskey that he’d worked his way through that evening.
“Nothing?” the booking officer asked, and Grantaire ground his teeth together at the fake sympathetic tone.
“Nope,” he said, popping the ‘p’, and he scrubbed a hand across his face before heading back to the holding cell.
The booking officer trailed after him. “Do you, uh, want to try calling someone else?”
Grantaire just shook his head. “No,” he said, crossing his arms in front of his chest as the officer opened the door of the cell for him. “I’ll try again later. He’s probably asleep.”
The officer glanced up at the clock that showed it was barely 10pm, and he shook his head as he closed the door after Grantaire. “Your choice,” he said with a shrug.
Grantaire sighed heavily as he slumped down onto the hard metal bench, his fingers twitching as if he wanted to reach for an absent glass or bottle of beer, or else for a hand that used to be his to hold. His throat felt tight and he swallowed hard, tilting his head back to rest it against the wall of the holding cell.
He closed his eyes against the tears that he could feel prick in the corners of his eyes, though he honestly didn’t know if he was crying because Enjolras hadn’t picked up, or because there was a part of him that still thought that maybe, in the morning, he would. One more time.

And we are back with the second part! Not going to lie, I started working on a DND campaign right after this. So writing progress is slow. Still writing at ungodly hours of the night tho, and as always, no one under 18.
1st Part
The start
As the other tribute said good by to his family. You could see how they cried for him. How they weeped for the fact that he would not be returning.
The other tribute was a boy that you had seem around the district. Flint Overhill. You never had any interaction with him, but each time you saw him you could tell he didn't like you.
He had dark black hair that was just above his shoulders. His eyes were such a dark blue that they almost looked black in the right light. If you remember correctly, last reaping the girl he was sweet on got picked.
She was a nice girl, quiet and kept to herself. She died as soon as the games started, didn't even stand a chance. Just like you.
The peacekeepers led his family out, and you could hear them weeping even after the door was closed and locked. Flint finally looked at you. The disgust in his eyes was plain to see.
"Looks like your luck has finally ran out. How does it feel to get what you deserve?" His words hit deep. They hit a place you thought had long sense gone cold.
"It wasn't my fault you know. My name was in there same as hers."
"Don't you dare speak of her." You could tell he was holding back. "With how many times you have put your name in, it should of been you."
"I-" before you could even respond. A patronizing voice spoke up.
"Oh my tributes, I certainly do have my hands full, don't I? Let's try not to kill each other just yet. You want to save that for the games!" Nodding his head, you could see all the pins that were in place to hold his wig on. "It makes a great show, oh yes indeed, but what's the point in a show with no cameras."
Both you and Flint were speechless. The complete disregard he had was unlike anything either of you had seen.
"Now, my name is Marius. I will be taking care of you two for the next couple of days. I hope I don't have trouble in the future with you two." As he spoke, he gave you and Flint a small wink. Then he started to usher the two of you into the train.
Before you know it, it felt like you stepped into a whole new world. Finery unlike anything you could've ever thought of existed was right here in front of your eyes.
"For the few days you are with us, you two shall be treated like royalty. Only the finest of things shall be able to touch my tributes' skin." As he went on, you mind stated to wonder along with your eyes.
You could see Flint role his eyes at Marius. Finding whatever you had just tuned out to be incredibly boring. You ran your hands along the wooded walls. It's smoothness brought back a far away memory to you.
It was blurry, but you could see the fine wood above you. Along with a man's voice....a voice that sounded so familiar. Before you could get lost into it more.
You felt a pinch on your arm. Snapping your head up. You could see the unapproving face of Marius. "Now, we will have to work on those manners. They are absolutely deplorable. No matter, we shall tackle that problem in the morning. You two get some rest. You will meet your mentor in the morning as well. So those manners better be improved."
At the last sentence, he gave you an especially harsh glare.
Flint brushed past you, giving your shoulder a mean jab as he did it.
You silently followed where they were showing you two your rooms. Stepping into your quarters. You were in awe of the luxury that was in it. Sitting on the bed felt like you would sleeping in the arms of an angel. Even the smell was wonderous. It was a mix of vanilla and rose.
But, before you could fully enjoy all the things around you. You suddenly remembered at what cost this is all for. Tears start to fall down in violent choked sobs.
You didn't want them to know, you didn't want them to know just how hopeless you are. How you were doomed to die in that arena just like they all wanted.
Yet, as you sat the crying your soul out. You were unaware of the camera watching your every move.
===============================
"I want those mutts done by tomorrow."
"Yes, Sir."
As her lower confirmed. She went back watching the live feed. She has to give you credit, you were a pretty cryer. At least in her eyes.
This year was going to be a fun one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There we go! I hope y'all like it. Also, small little note, I do not do taglists. They can get pretty chaotic and I write on my phone so they can get really annoying to do.
You were upset. No, more than upset, pissed off. Annoyed. Furious. Normally you would get calls from Clark or Bruce, but never Arthur Curry - Aquaman. As his hologram figure shot out of your watch, you immediately frowned. Only having recently joined the Justice League, Arthur was known for causing a bit of trouble. You were both very different from each other. You were one for talking to people, and he liked using his fists.
But when Arthur called you, it normally meant that he wanted something, needed you to do something for him while he was stuck down in the ocean doing his Kingly duties. All high and mighty. Well, you were fed up. The last time he asked you for something, you were pulled into a small battle, and you owed him twenty bucks - you weren't one to bet, but against Arthur, it was hard to not take part. You loved to see his face when he lost. And he lost most of the time.
But you knew that you were a pretty sensible person to go to when anyone needed anything. You were bright and always mindful. You were brilliant, having gone to Harvard before moving to the big city - Metropolis.
It wasn't long after you found yourself in the company of the world's strongest heroes. With your intellect and specific set of skills, both Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne thought you could be an invaluable member of the Justice League. Though, instead of fighting on the front lines, you would offer advice and wisdom when needed - along with helping the team with the tech that you created.
So, it didn't come as a surprise when Arthur called you on your 'Super Watch' as you called it, when you made it for you and the team. He came to you when he needed advice, which was a lot. If it had been anyone else, you would've been more than willing to help. But it was Arthur. However, you were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
"I need to cash in that favor." He said. There was no greeting - no pleasantries. Just straight to business. Like he usually did when he needed something.
You rolled your eyes. If only you hadn't asked him to take you to see a Humpback Whale - him with his Kingly Atlantis powers. It had always been a dream of yours, and why wouldn't you take a chance to experience something new and amazing like that? During the time, in awe of the giant Humpback before you, asking for that favor was totally worth it.
However, at the moment, you didn't want to know what he wanted. There were so many things that he could possibly want. But, it was the weekend. Saturday. Not the day for you to play babysitter for some superpowered superhero. You already had to watch over Damian Wayne. You loved the kid, but you didn’t really think babysitting was your thing. "What do you want?" You asked, not bothering to mask the impatience in your voice. "I have a book I need to get to..."
"I need you to watch over somebody for me." He answered, seemingly aware of your impatience as he continued with a small grin on his face, "I believe that you heard that my brother has joined the surface world. He'll be needing some help adjusting and I think you-"
"Oh, no, no, no," You interrupted, shaking your head as you glared daggers at the hologram before you, "I am not babysitting your murderous brother." You ran a hand through your hair, "Do you know how much damage control I had to do when he tried to kill us surface-dwellers? It took me weeks to fix all that he did - with little help by the way!" You pointed an accusatory finger at him, "I already have a tough time babysitting the supers, I am not babysitting him too."
He sighed heavily. "Look, I know that this is a bit of a big favor-"
You scoffed, "A bit?"
"And I understand that being around new people is not exactly fun for you-"
You couldn't help but roll your eyes again, "Not just that, Art, I am not like you and the other supers. If your brother tries anything, I won't be able to stop him."
"He won't try anything," Arthur grinned, "He's changed, dude. He's not the same as he was over a year ago."
You nodded, taking another glance at the sky outside your window. "That's good if what you say is true." You agreed hesitantly. "If I am going to do this, and if," You emphasized, letting out a deep breath, "How am I going to find him in the first place? I don't know what he looks like or even where he is. On top of that, I don't even know what his name is."
Arthur gave a small nod. "His name is Orm. I believe he is residing in Metropolis at the moment. For the past couple of weeks, he's been going from city to city, with what little Atlantean money he has left on him. I'll send you a description of his appearance. That'll help, but I think you'll know it's him when you see him."
"Really?" You asked, resting your hand on your hip, "I'll know?" But, Arthur said nothing, only giving you that 'know-it-all' look before hanging up the hologram call.
Huffing, you dropped your hands, only to raise them to your face and rub your cheeks; overall pretty annoyed. Freezing, you cursed at yourself, forgetting to ask how long you'll be watching over this Orm.
~~~
Sitting on a small bench, you adjusted your open book, glancing down at the pages. But, instead of reading about a boy and his little sister who fell down a laundry chute and into a strange underground world, you let your eyes wander across the sheet of printer paper that you placed in between the pages. Hiding the fact that you were looking for someone by pretending to read. Your eyes scanned around the page slowly, trying to memorize what Arthur gave you. How could you possibly find this man? Especially with what Arthur had given you to help you find him? Metropolis was huge!
Looking up, your eyes quickly settled on someone in front of you at an outside restaurant, there was a man; tall - seemingly - and blonde; eating a burger. Immediately as your eyes landed on him, you knew. Arthur was right. This was definitely him.
You suddenly stood, shutting your hardcover book with a snap before walking across the street. Your eyes again locked onto his frame, watching as he continued to chow down on the large burger in his hands. It confused and unnerved you, but the closer you were getting to the man, the more your heart began to race. And it may or may not have been because you thought this Orm was rather attractive. Arthur's family had some good ass genes.
Before you could even figure out what you were supposed to say, you took a seat across from him; the metal of the chair's legs scraping against the concrete ground sharply. The younger Atlantean prince paused his chewing, his crystal blue eyes staring at you with confusion and obvious caution. You understood that if anyone sat before you while you were trying to enjoy your lunch, you probably would've reacted the same way.
"Hello," You began, immediately inwardly cringing at how awkward your own voice sounded, "Um, I'm Y/N." You watched as he continued chewing, though slowly, his eyes continuing to look over you; still wary. "I'm friends with your brother. He asked me to help you, uh, get used to the surface."
At that, Orm huffed, setting down his burger; annoyed. "I do not need any help." He spoke, his voice firm, but smooth; a shiver ran down your spine. “How did you find me?” Without another word, you pulled the paper from Arthur out of the book, showing it to him. Orm’s eyes widened before narrowing, “Is that supposed to portray me?” He asked, gesturing to the crude drawing of himself - drawn by none other than Arthur himself - you could tell that Orm was not fond of the portrayal at all.
You gave him a deadpanned look, mentally finding this whole interaction very funny - funnily enough. But, you still had work to do. "Listen, I don't really want to do this either. I'd rather be at home reading. But, I owe him a favor and I'm a woman of my word. I understand that you are perfectly capable of taking care of yourself, but you are technically a fish out of water in this situation. There are going to be things here on the surface that you won't be able to navigate." You let out a breath, rubbing your temple with two fingers, "So please, let me at least help you with a few things that are mandatory for those that live on land."
After a few moments of silence, Orm squared his jaw as he rubbed his hands clean of the burger's grease with a napkin. The silence between the both of you was unnerving and tense, but you fought through it, not wanting to back down. Even though you were rather annoyed by this whole fiasco, you were a good person, and you weren't about to let a guy with an attitude ruin things for himself just because of his pride or whatever.
"Fine." He grumbled finally, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms. "What must I do then?
"Well," You began, gesturing to the side of his burger where you saw a pair of bug legs sticking out, "We have a lot to cover."
~~~
For the next couple of weeks, you began teaching Orm about the surface world, though he was rather hesitant to follow your instructions. In the beginning, he complained and made small comments here or there, but Orm seemed to have noticed your no-nonsense nature. He didn't complain anymore after another firm talking-to, and you found out afterwards that he was a rather fast learner. He had no consistent place to live, moving from hotel to hotel, you knew he could only do that for so long; plus you knew from experience that some hotels were less than ideal to stay in, especially ones that were located near the center of the city.
Therefore, you decided that Orm staying in one of your homes, near the shore in California, was a more ideal option for him. And if you were being honest with yourself, you were beginning to enjoy the youngest Atlantean prince's company; far more than Arthur's, that was for sure.
During the time that Orm has been staying in your humble abode, you made sure to keep him up with the latest tech, which was far different than in Atlantis, you were sure. From the toaster, blender, microwave, and even computer, you made sure that Orm had at least some, if not all, basic knowledge on the appliances around the house. As said before, Orm was an incredibly quick learner, having mastered most of everything within a matter of days.
However, what you did not expect was for you to begin to like him.
~~~
It had been a long night. You were sending email after email to some of your closest contacts and employees, making sure that they were keeping your empire afloat all the while you were on your "vacation" away from Metropolis. Some of your employees tried to get you to enjoy your so-called vacation, but it was hard to just not check up on how things were doing.
It was well past midnight, reading and re-reading past emails, and checking your phone every now and then, waiting for the familiar notification sound to go off signaling a new text message to come through. You frowned as you set your phone down on the desk beside your computer, letting out a sigh. You leaned your elbows on the table, rubbing your eyes with the palms of your hands, tired and absolutely exhausted.
Standing up, you shut your laptop and headed to the kitchen, quickly making yourself a small cup of tea; praying that it would hopefully help you go to sleep. You silently wandered around your seaside home, faintly hearing the ocean waves crash upon the shore. Taking a small sip of your tea, you hummed as it warmed your throat before pushing the back door open and stepping outside.
The warm breeze made you smile, as did the smell of the salty ocean a couple hundred feet away from you. It was hard to see it, but you could see the moon reflecting off the waves. Resting your forearms against the wooden railing of the porch, you occasionally sipped your tea while enjoying the quiet.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" The smooth, yet low voice asked, startling you slightly.
Raising a hand to your chest, you let out a deep breath as you swiftly turned to see Orm standing a foot or so behind you; arms clasped behind him. His eyes never met yours, the deep blues staring right back at the raging waves.
"Of course." You replied softly, as he did, turning to look back at the ocean in question, "It always is."
Orm wandered over, taking the spot next to you before speaking, "Do you enjoy the ocean?" He asked, his question surprising you slightly, but you didn't hesitate to answer.
"Yes." You replied, "Ever since I was a kid." Taking a sip of your tea, you swallowed before continuing, "I always lived in the city. I hardly got to see the ocean, we- my family rarely went to the beach. But that never stopped me from loving it." You shuffled one of your feet, the soul of your slipper slipping against the white wood. Looking up, you finally made eye contact with him, "What about you? I mean, you lived in the ocean most of your life, what's it like?" You asked, your curiosity clear in your tone.
He looked at you, his sharp eyes almost glowing from the moon's rays in the darkness of the night. "It is wonderful." He replied simply, looking back out towards the sea once more. "But, I cannot really describe it; it is not something one can explain simply." You gave a nod, as he shifted uncomfortably in his stance. "You had spoken that helping me acclimate to the surface was a favor owed to Arthur, correct?"
You nodded once more, "Yes, it was," You began, glancing over at him only to see that Orm was already looking at you, "Though, to be perfectly honest, his favor was much bigger than mine was." You chuckled lightly, scratching the back of your neck as you stared into his blue eyes.
He tilted his head curiously, "Is that so?" He questioned,
"Well, yes-" You bit your lip, shifting in your position as you glanced back at the horizon, "I just asked to see a whale."
At that, Orm raised an eyebrow, "A whale?"
You hummed in confirmation, "Yep, I just wanted to see a whale. I really like whales. And sharks. But I like whales the most. They sleep upright which is super cool. They are just so fascinating." You gushed, a bright smile slowly spreading onto your face before you cleared your throat, "I mean, you must’ve noticed. I have like ten paintings of whales in there." You finished, gesturing back at the house with a nod of your head, feeling a bit embarrassed by your small rant. Meeting Orm’s gaze once again, you swore that you saw a small smile on his face, but before you could fully confirm it with yourself, he hummed before looking back at the ocean.
"Was it all that you hoped?" He then asked.
"Yeah, definitely. When I was available, he took me to Maine and used his ocean magic to summon a Humpback Whale." The memory of seeing that whale made your chest swell with pride. You smiled as you watched the waves ripple gently across the sand. "When it breached the water, I felt as if I took my first breath. It was the nicest thing Arthur has done for me."
Orm felt a pang in his chest, a wave of jealousy washing over him, making him shift in his stance, his grip on his hand behind his back tightening. For the past month or so, Orm had grown accustomed to being around you, and he had found himself liking you quite a bit despite how much he disliked humans. It wasn't something he'd admit to anyone else aside from himself, but you managed to make him feel a little better, more relaxed, even. And, he actually enjoyed spending time with you. "Does Arthur do nice things for you usually?" Orm inquired, attempting to push down his jealousy.
You shook your head, "Nope, never." You laughed lightly, before placing both hands on the railing, leaning forward slightly, "He usually likes to tease me, you know, joke around. I find him annoying most of the time." You admitted, "But, I should thank him next time I see him in person." You yawned, grabbing your empty cup from the wooden railing with one hand as Orm turned to look at you properly.
"Thank him?" He asked, his eyebrows furrowing together ever so slightly as you paused at the back door, your back facing him.
"Yeah." You responded softly, shrugging one shoulder, "If he didn't ask me to help you, I never would've met you." There was silence between the two of you for a few moments until you turned your head to look back over at him, meeting those same deep blue eyes that seemed to stare right into your very soul. You took the moment to let your eyes travel over his handsome features: the light stubble along his jawline, his blonde hair combed perfectly, the softness of his skin, and his lips. You could have stayed longer looking at him, staring at the man who unknowingly caused so much pain in your heart, but you could not allow yourself to continue. Instead, you quickly averted your eyes, clearing your throat awkwardly, "I'm going to head to bed. Goodnight, Orm." You said before ducking back inside.
"Goodnight, Y/N." Orm muttered, his voice low as he stared at the back door, where your figure had disappeared into, his blue eyes lingering on the door for a moment before he sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. It wasn't long until he looked back at the crashing ocean, his eyebrows furrowed.
When Orm found himself living with you at your beach house, he did his best to keep his distance, avoiding you as much as he could when you weren't trying to teach him the ways of the surface-dwellers. His stubbornness was also partly due to the fact that he was brought up in such a way to hate surface-dwellers; to despise them as a whole, and everything they stood for. But, even still, he couldn't bring himself to truly dislike you. Despite the nagging of his father's words echoing in his mind whenever he was close to you. He felt... something towards you. Something different; something new.
~~~
The next morning, you were up bright and early, heading downstairs to grab yourself a cup of coffee. Humming a soft, upbeat tune, you shimmied around the kitchen as you poured yourself some coffee; adding cream and sugar.
Glancing around the kitchen, and tilting your body to the side to peer into the dining room, your humming came to a stop. Usually, at the time that you came down for coffee, Orm had already figured out how to make his breakfast. Which usually consisted of eggs, bacon, and tea.
Frowning, you furrowed your eyebrows, glancing at the clock on the wall before finishing up stirring your tea. Grabbing the warm mug into your dominant hand, you pulled the edges of your cardigan closer around you; the mornings were always so chilly, being so close to the ocean and all.
Stepping out onto the back porch, you paused. There was Orm, leaning against the wooden beam of your railing - just as he did the night before. He was dressed for the day, in the Surface-Dweller attire you helped him buy. Sometimes, it was hard to believe that he wasn't from the surface world, he fit in so perfectly. His forearms were resting against the railing, slightly bent at the hip, his stormy blue eyes staring off into the crashing waves of the ocean only a couple of mere hundred feet in front of him. You leaned against the doorframe, worrying on your bottom lip. He must have missed his home - Atlantis - you knew that he did. You couldn’t imagine leaving your home, being forced to never return, in fear of imprisonment or even death. Even though you and Orm had a pretty rough beginning, your heart broke for him.
Your mind raced with possible ideas of how to try and cheer him up, your eyes flickering down at the wooden porch floorboard, spotting bits of sand sprinkled around here and there from your many adventures from the shore. You allowed your gaze to flicker back to the Atlantean man, studying the contours of the side of his face closely, taking in every detail. His brows furrowed tightly together, his lips slightly pursed in deep thought. He was so... Beautiful. Especially as the morning sun filtered into his hair, shining upon the blonde strands, causing them to appear almost white.
You blinked for a moment, shaking your head slightly as you focused back on trying to come up with an idea to cheer the man up. And then, it hit you. A surge of excitement rushed through you, making your skin buzz slightly at just the idea. Making yourself known, you walked over, taking your place beside him as he had done last night for you.
"Hey," You spoke up softly, setting your mug down on the railing, your fingers curling around the ceramic; warming them. "Good morning."
Orm turned his head, his gaze landing on yours before he returned his attention to the ocean, "Good morning."
You sighed, turning your gaze to stare at the ocean yourself, shuffling one of your socked feet against the wooden floorboards. "Have you eaten?" You breathed out, raising your cup to take a sip.
"Yes," Orm muttered, glancing at you briefly, "And you?"
You shook your head slightly, taking another sip, "No," You spoke against the rim of your mug, "I have not yet." You suddenly felt nervous, as the words that you had wished to say slithered on the tip of your tongue. "I was wondering if you'd like to go on an adventure with me?" You asked, turning your head to look back up at him, his eyes meeting yours.
"An adventure?" He repeated, raising a single eyebrow.
You nodded, unable to stop a smile from spreading on your face, "Yeah, well, I was thinking, you've been cooped up in this house for far too long." You placed your mug aside, turning your body to face him, your eyes bright. "So..." You trailed off, tilting your head to the side a bit - trying to read him, he seemed curious. "What'd ya say?"
"Where is it that you would like to take me?" He asked then, sounding curious and yet, hesitant.
"It's a surprise." You answered quickly - your excitement obvious - before grabbing your mug and speeding back inside. Pausing at the door, you braced your hand against the doorframe, looking back over at him. "You'll love it. I swear."
~~~
"May I open my eyes now?" Orm asked as you helped him out of your car, his hand covering his eyes, as you had asked him to do. From stepping out of the car, Orm could feel the difference in the air; it was warmer out, and he could still smell the salt of the ocean. And yet, he had no idea where you were taking him.
"No yet," Orm felt you take his other unoccupied arm, your two hands intertwining as you led him away from your parked car towards what he assumed was the entrance of something.
Orm hummed, the hand over his eyes twitching slightly from the urge to just look, "You are not leading me to my death, are you?" He asked, his tone laced with amusement.
"Hmm, no." You played along as you pulled open one of the double doors, leading him inside, "I wouldn't have you stay with me, for almost four months, just to take you to some secondary location to kill you." Your words made Orm chuckle as you began to drag him further into whatever mysterious place you had taken him to.
As Orm followed blindly beside you, he tried to tighten his hearing, seeing if he could pick up anything around him. For the most part, he didn't hear any signs that anyone else might be around. As far as he could tell, it was only the two of you. He couldn't help but wonder, why the sudden trip? With a gentle tug, he felt you come to a stop, one of your hands dropping from his arm.
"Okay," You breathed out, "You can look now." Dropping his hand, Orm blinked his eyes rapidly, before they widened. So... This was where you were taking him. An aquarium. The water from the aquarium tunnel reflected on the walls in a kaleidoscope effect, tinting in stunning blues and greens. Fish, some sharks, and even a few stingrays of all species swam about everywhere. The underwater tunnel gave off a soothing atmosphere, as if the water itself was saying; 'Welcome.' His eyes followed the graceful movements of the sea creatures above, his ocean-blue eyes flickering from fish to fish, his lips parted slightly. You broke your gaze from the tunnel, turning to look up at Orm, your smile slowly dropping as you took notice of the expression on his face. It was hard to decipher it, your mind beginning to overwhelm you with 'what ifs' and terrible doubts. "Do you not like it?" You asked softly, your voice filled with uncertainty. Orm swallowed hard, but you continued, "I mean, of course, you might hate it." You began to ramble, running a hand through your hair, looking anywhere else but at him, "I mean, this is technically like a prison for fish. But, I assure you, I practically built this aquarium - all the fish have all the food they could possibly want, all the space-" Orm looked down at you, watching as you continued to stumble over your words, “I know you must have been feeling homesick, and I know you can't really go into the ocean, so I thought that you might like it here-”
“Y/N.” He finally spoke, interrupting your rant, “Thank you.” The words seemed to have easily slid off his tongue, his eyes softening as you stared up at him with those eyes of yours.
“So, I haven't upset you?” You asked, pulling your bottom lip under your teeth once more.
Orm shook his head, reaching up with his hand, his thumb gently brushed against your bottom lip, pulling it from between your teeth, freeing it; you felt your cheeks heat at the touch, your eyes fluttering momentarily as the warmth of his finger pressed against your bottom lip. “You have not upset me.” Orm tried to reassure you, giving you that smile of his that made your heart flutter. “In fact, this must be the best surprise I have ever received.”
“Really?” Your eyes lit up, your smile growing, and at Orm's nod, you sighed, “Wow…” Turning back to look at the fish swimming in the large aquarium glass around you, you spoke once more. “Beautiful, isn't it?” You mimicked his own words from two days prior.
"Yes," Orm muttered, "Very beautiful…”
Looking up at him, you were surprised to find Orm already looking down at you. You felt your breath hitch, again, unable to look away as his eyes bore down into yours with such intensity. His eyebrows furrowed slightly, a faint crease appearing on his forehead. The air around you grew thick, and it wasn't until Orm reached out, cupping your cheek with one hand, that you finally realized just how much closer your faces were than usual. And yet, you did nothing to pull back. Instead, you simply held your breath, your gaze locked onto his, as his thumb ran along your cheek, his fingers tangling themselves in your hair slightly, drawing you closer to him.
His brows furrowed deeper, his eyes darkening slightly as he gazed down at you. His lips parted slightly, a breath leaving him, before he leaned forward; his lips barely brushing against yours. Slowly, hesitantly, he closed the distance between the two of you. Your eyes fluttered shut as his hand slid down from your cheek to cradle your neck, keeping you close. Your arms wrapped around his middle, your fingers gripping tightly at the fabric of his sweater - you never wanted this moment to end.
The kiss lasted mere moments before you both pulled apart, unable to stop yourselves from smiling at each other. Orm felt an immense sense of happiness overtake him as his blue eyes met yours, his cheeks tinted a soft pink. "Arthur was right," He said - mentally hating the words that seemed to slip so easily from his lips - his hand moved to tuck a strand of your hair behind your ear, his thumb grazing across the shell of your ear.
You couldn't help but let out a small chuckle, raising one hand to press his palm into your cheek, "Arthur was right about what?" You narrowed your eyes playfully, "He's hardly right about anything."
Orm let out a deep sigh, silently agreeing with you, "The surface world is not as terrible as I always believed and was told." He smiled down at you, his hand falling from your cheek to take your hand in his, "You have proven that. As well as Arthur.” You tilted your head to the side lightly, letting out another laugh before shaking your head; Orm's smile quickly turned into a small, anxious frown, "Don't tell Arthur I said that."
"I won't." You promised, your eyes crinkling as you laughed out your words, "He wouldn't shut up about it if I did." Orm chuckled as he nodded his head as you interlaced your fingers with his, "So..." You trailed off, "Do you want to see the rest of the aquarium? I rented it out for the next two hours. So, we got the whole place to ourselves." You waved your free hand in the air, gesturing to the long empty tunnel that led the way to the rest of the aquarium.
"Lead the way." Orm smiled, squeezing your hand in his own gently as he allowed himself to be guided by you; he would follow you wherever you went.

all damn yours ♡
sub bottom marius von hagen + dom top gn reader | cw. soft sex, praising, marius being bratty, soft dom reader, fingering, hickeys, foreplay
Tumblr media
'Y-you– haa.. why are you being so s-soft.." Marius mumbles, gripping onto your hair as you continue to kiss and caress his inner thigh. Your head was between his legs, hands keeping his legs spread out to give you better access to his thighs.
"Can't I pamper my pretty boyfriend from time to time?" you hum, smiling teasingly. He pouts at your words, legs wrapping around your head and moaning softly when he feels you suckle on his skin, leaving a mark on his beautiful, pale skin. "So pretty for me, my Marius," you whisper to him, continuing to kiss his inner thighs before going up to kiss his lips adoringly, your hand caressing his thigh.
Marius lets out the faintest whimper at your praise, which you couldn't help smiling at. The stuck up rich man could be adorable when he wanted to be, you thought. "Come on... fuck me already.." he whines, wrapping his arms around your neck.
"I will, pretty. Just hold on a bit for me, alright?" you respond to him softly, kissing his neck while your arms wrap around his waist. You start suckling on the skin of his neck, leaving dark marks all over it. And Marius can't help but moan in delight everytime he feels you do it. Because it's a reminder that he's yours, he's all yours, yours and no other's.
You lie him back down and kiss downwards towards his abdomen, your hand sliding down towards where he wants it most. "Come on, damn it!" he whines, hips bucking into your touch. You smile at his unspoken pleas and hold his hand endearingly, interwining your fingers with his. And Marius can't help but whimper at the soft act of affection. He absolutely loves when you're rough with him, manhandling him like he's nothing but a toy, but this—he could work with this too, he thought.
He was already soaked with precum, so you went ahead and gathered some of it from his tip, coaxing your middle finger with his liquid, making him moan and buck his hips at the process. You smiled at his noises, his moans were always absolutely breathtaking. You placed a soft kiss at his forehead before inserting your finger inside his already gaping hole. His fingers tightened around yours, sucking in a breath as he felt your finger push past his rim, his hole subconsciously clenching around you. "Relax, pretty boy. I'll take care of you," you whisper reassuringly to him, placing another soft kiss on his temple.
Marius sighed and hummed at your words, letting out a small moan when your finger pushed deeper inside of him. Once you felt he was ready, you added another finger, pumping in and out of his hole at a soft pace, kissing all over his face and whispering praise into his ear.
Marius couldn't help but buck his hips up and whimper everytime you called him yours, your pretty boy, your darling, he was all yours. "P-please.. please.." he whines, finally giving in to his submissive urges as his grip on your hand tightens, the other one covering his sweaty red face.
"Don't hide your face, Marius. Let me see you, pretty," you pull his arm away from his face, not waiting a second before kissing his lips. He returns the kiss, wrapping both arms around your neck as you pick up the pace of your thrusts. You could feel him moan into the kiss, his walls clenching around your fingers, notifying you how close he was. Your other hand went down to his dick, giving it a few strokes.
Overwhelmed by the pleasure on both sides, he came all over your hand with a slurred repeat of your name, panting away from the kiss. You pull your fingers out of him, rubbing circles onto his waist to help him ride out from his high, kissing his temple and whispering how good he was for you.
"I love you.." Marius mumbled softly, giving you a weak kiss on the lips before pulling you down next to him, leaning into you as he falls asleep in your embrace.
"I love you too, pretty boy."

How Armand's AMC background might work with the changes
TW: Mentions of physical, sexual, and religious abuse.  You know, Armand stuff.
Age
First off, it’s not that big a deal for Armand to be aged up for his turning.
I’ve said it before, but being turned, especially very young, can be considered analogous to arrested development caused by trauma.  In the books, getting this across is helped by repeatedly describing a teenager doing/saying these immature things.  In live action media, though, it can be conveyed in a performance.  A bit like how The Umbrella Academy removed Klaus’ ability to float because it was a metaphor for him being constantly high, and Robert Sheehan’s performance conveyed his state of mind so well they didn’t need the visual aid.
Armand is still developmentally frozen in places at those times some new trauma came about—pre-adolescent with the sheer hardship of his childhood, thirteenish with the monks (or equivalent in the show if they keep that bit), also thirteenish getting sex trafficked, then again whenever the Children of Darkness/Satan overturn his life.  Throughout this entire time, the only time he was safe enough to have normal-ish emotional development was during his relationship with Marius, and it didn’t happen because his need for safety meant him foreclosing on whatever identity he thought Marius would want him to have, and relying on Marius to regulate his emotions instead of learning to regulate them himself.  No matter how safe Marius is compared with the rest of Armand’s life, Marius isn’t a psychotherapist and is too flattered by Armand’s total dependence on him to reliably break him of it.  He’s too busy cuddling him and feeding him soup instead of teaching him how to self-soothe, having the same expectations of him as he would have with an adult: that he already knows how to do the things he needs to do in order to be a person.
All this to say Armand isn’t necessarily going to be significantly more mature just because he was turned older, especially since Marius was enabling his emotional dependence on him.
The only difference I could see miiiight be if he spends significantly more time under Marius’ tutelage.  Marius is the only person in his entire life who actually tries to teach him right from wrong, and it’s pretty critical to his character that it didn’t take.  Marius himself notes this at one point during the “banquet” scene, seeing Armand is trying to react how he thinks his master wants him to react, not being properly horrified by people dying.  If Marius has time to actually correct this (which, who knows how long that would take, Armand has been stuck permanently in this state for a long time already), that could make a difference to his characterization.  But the likelihood of Marius successfully teaching him right from wrong was always pretty damn low, given how his method is “Do something heinous, get mad if Amadeo doesn’t cry.”
Origins
This is a little tricky, but it ultimately boils down to one thing: religion.
He’s Turkic, and it’s plausible for him to be Crimean Tatar, but he couldn’t have been trafficked by them the way he was in the books.
Among Turkic people in Armand’s day, an extremely common language, both speaking and in literature, was Chagatai.  This was spoken among Muslims in eastern Europe, as well as central Asia, the Caucasus, and the Ottoman Empire.  Today, Chagatai is a dead language, and while there are experts, it’s entirely possible your dramaturg won’t be able to contact one.  If that’s the case, what modern language is the most similar?  Turns out, Uyghur and Uzbek.
What language does Armand end his prayer in in Dubai?  Uzbek.
If Armand is indeed Muslim (which would be the most narratively satisfying option—for him to be forcibly converted in his early life and find his own religion again later), you did have a more diverse population among Crimean Tatars back then than we have today, especially since Stalin’s genocide.  You had some who came from as far south as Iran, where you can get people as dark as Assad, even if it’s uncommon.  But it being uncommon (aka “exotic”) would be all the more reason he’d get targeted for sex trafficking.
Speaking of.  Islamic and Christian laws forbade enslaving someone of the same faith.  So whoever kidnaps him in this version of events is almost certainly Christian.  The Venetians had a slave trade that was leaving the area for Africa due to the conquest of Constantinople by the Ottomans, but with a little wiggling of decades, we can imagine there were still Venetian slavers raiding the Black Sea.  Since Armand ends up in Venice, this would make particular sense.
One more thing remains: the monks of the Caves.  An order which, as far as I’m aware, only existed in Kiev.  Why would a little Muslim boy be tempted to join an order of Christian monks?  I mean, Islam definitely has its own brands of asceticism, but if we’re trying to make as few changes as possible, I’d still buy it being these monks.  Speaking as someone who was raised evangelical, children are often targeted in the hopes of converting the entire family.  I have no idea how likely that would be for a bunch of Eastern Orthodox monks and a Muslim family way back when, but personally, I’d buy it.
Realistically, would he still live near Kiev (which was part of Lithuania at this time) if he’s from the Crimean Khanate?  Probably not.  But I wouldn’t sweat it.  And I can’t find whether there were any other Muslim groups who lived in/near Kiev.
Timeline
Show!Armand was turned older, so there are years that must be accounted for.  I think he must have been trafficked at a similar age as in the books, because it makes the most sense—he’s very young, but old enough that he doesn’t have to be “raised” anymore.  So he either spent longer in the brothel, or with Marius, or the years are split between.  If it’s at the brothel, they might kick him out once he gets older, and Marius rescues him off the streets instead of from the brothel.  Instead, or in conjunction, he could spend more time with Marius.  My concern is, if the underage aspect of their relationship is cut, it could sanitize Marius too much.  Armand isn’t meant to have any models for healthy relationships in his history, and Marius expecting a kid to meet his emotional needs the way an adult would, in addition to the power discrepancies so typical of pederastic relationships in Marius’ time, explains a lot about both characters.
On the other hand, I don’t want too many flashbacks where a younger actor is playing Armand.  I want to see Assad tackle as much as possible.  He is so damn good.
Then there’s also the complication mentioned above of how vital it is that Armand never learned right from wrong.  And they are still bound by what the network will permit (a reason I’m not sure Claudia’s “surgery” will take place).
It’s possible they could just leave the timeline vague.  Assad is babyfaced enough for it to be ambiguous how old he is at any given time.  I wouldn’t want it to be too vague, though, lest the effectiveness of either possible version of events be diminished.
Conclusion
I don’t have any conclusions about what they’ve chosen to do.  These are all just possibilities.  I think that’s valid in its own right.
All in all, I think they have a great opportunity to flip the stereotype of the brown person becoming more “civilized” because of white people and show Armand’s problems as being caused, in significant part, by losing his own identity and culture, and in total part by the imperialist ideals of the West.
Reading up on all of this history to figure out the possibilities has given me a greater appreciation for why they would make the choice to cast Armand as non-white.  Armand may be white in the books, but he’s not Western, and even though I’m sure she didn't mean to, Anne did tap into that “the West is here to civilize everyone” narrative.  It’s actually something Marius is (intentionally hypocritically) big on—“civilization.”  He took this wild Eastern European kid from the shitty life that came to him because of non-white slavers (who were very much a big deal at the time, but they’ve been used to justify the beliefs of white supremacists since the time of Hitler) and gave him a happy, comfortable life, albeit via a deliberately creepy relationship.  Here in the US, we don’t think of Eastern Europeans as “not white enough” the way they’ve been historically seen in Europe, so I doubt Anne realized she'd accidentally written a story about the “savage” child being victimized by a tribe of "evil" Mongols and rescued by an ”enlightened” white guy (though if you haven’t read the books, keep in mind that Marius is not nearly as enlightened as he believes and doesn’t spend all that much time in the “civilization” he supposedly treasures).
Flip that, make him Islamic, and his slavers must by necessity be Western, so the people who take apart his life are all coming from that angle of “we have the right to do this because we are better.”  And it does not stop after he becomes a vampire. What’s harming Armand isn’t a series of unrelated catastrophes, but an entire culture of imperialism.  The Golden Horde doesn’t exist today.  Actual Crimean Tatars in the 21st century are oppressed minorities.  But the imperialist mindset in Western culture remains, this idea that we are more “civilized” than others.  And that’s something this show can actually speak to that will resonate.

While as mentioned yesterday I do think Marius's own trauma and avoidance of it played into him not going back for Armand; I'm actually pretty inclined to believe him about Akasha's involvement with him not going back for Armand for a few reasons.
I think Marius's pride and trauma around being controlled often manifests in denial or giving himself more agency than he really did. For him to just outright admit it, particularly in the context that everything with Akasha turned out to be for nothing, does (for me!) point to this being him finally admitting to what extant he let her control him, and what a mistake it was.
I don't really think there is a comparable power dynamic in the series to what Marius had going on with the ones who must be kept. It's not just age or personal danger to one's life, it's danger to every one of your kind. Akasha is very close to being a literal living God, with the powers of one. Marius and his generation at least have a few peers to keep them in check. As far as Marius was aware until meeting the twins, the ones who must be kept didn't - not that it would really have changed much of the dynamic if he knew she did. She can wipe out most of their kind with ease, she can survive things (like the sun) that allowing to happen to herself will destroy most of their kind through her.
I think the reason Marius doesn't resent her is that...he does, but how do you resent a God who could read your thoughts and could destroy everyone you love without blinking? We see him harbor resentments towards his duty and then immediately repress them, often in half hilarious half tragic moments. He worries they can sense his resentment and works to wipe it out of his mind even while he doesn't know if they're even paying attention. He's living in his own panopticon but the consequences for attempting escape aren't merely his own death, but the destruction of his entire kind.
So when he tells Thorne that Akasha influenced him to not go after Armand, I don't think it's just him avoiding his own reasons (though I do think those existed), I think it's someone who spent 2000 years caring for and worshipping a God in part terror part love all obligation and knowing now they did it all for nothing.
(And at the same time: for everything. Because even now, he loves her, and even now, what other options were there?)

Today, as a treat, I am going to walk on well-tread ground and rant about how Grantaire symbolizes the People of France. And how it is this that makes this chapter so sublime.
Three chapters before this one, Hugo speaks about how Revolution does not always find a welcome audience. How, without the People. an emeute is just that. It may have loft ideals attached to it, but it must fail. If the people aren't ready, if they lock their doors and rail at the revolutionaries outside in fear and apathy and anger, then nothing can be done.
Hugo admits that this is natural. We must let humans care about their own lives and not just the future. All of this can be handled, as long as in the end Progress continues.
"A people, like a star, has the right of eclipse. And all is well, provided the light returns and the eclipse does not degenerate into night. Dawn and resurrection are synonyms. The reappearance of the light is identical with the persistence of the self." [5.1.20]
This is reflective of Grantaire's apathy, his defining trait as a nihilist. It also reflects Hugo's implication that this is not Grantaire's natural state of being. Remember:
"Besides Enjolras, Grantaire became someone again." [3.4.1]
Not only does this tie Grantaire's existence inextricably with the Revolution, but it implies that this existence is superior, is more natural than his current one.
Grantaire also has more interactions with the People than the rest of les Amis do. See when he was meant to stir up revolutionary ideals and instead went to play dominoes. Yes he failed, but he also reflects the prevailing thought. France was not ready for a revolution. Enjolras ignored this. Lofty ideas could not reconcile themselves to the reality.
All this paints a very bleak picture of course. And yet, in Grantaire's death we get that undeniable hope, which makes it all so beautiful.
We, as real people reading this book, understand that Grantaire is probably still drunk. Yet Hugo impressing upon, insisting upon Grantaire's clarity is so crucial. This, at the moment of his death, is the most lucid Grantaire has been.
Another thing that strikes me, is that thought Grantaire asks permission to die with Enjolras, he seals his own death warrant before doing so, by crying out 'Vive la Republique.' He doesn't actually ask permission to join the movement.
When the People rise, they will do so spontaneously. That crucial ingredient that is missing amongst the population has been lit in Grantaire, and it is a sign of what is to come, it is hope. He's leading the pack with his singular death, and like he measured the mood beforehead, his death can be (and to me is) read as an omen of what is to come. The eclipse - in Hugo's words - will end.
Of course, asking permission to die with Enjolras is also crucial. Not only because of the poetry of them being narrative foils, but because it works as a surrogate for the people of Paris acknowledging the bravery of those who push forward towards Progress while they refuse to budge. Again, as Hugo writes:
"However that may be, even when fallen, particularly when fallen, august are the ones who, all around the world, with eyes fixed on France, struggle for the great work with the inflexible logic of the ideal; they give their life as a pure fit for progress; they accomplish the will of Providence; they perform a religious act." [5.1.20]
Through Grantaire's death, the People come out of their fear and recognize this. Not literally, but in spirit. And if not to all of us, then to Enjolras.
Because Enjolras is, of course, crucial to this reading. Speaking of Grantaire as the People when he is merely one of many characters who are the People, it's important to ask for whom is he? Because he's certainly not for Valjean. Or Marius. Or Cosette. Or Javert. Or even the National Guards or the King or perhaps not even to the audience (if you think I'm overdoing it I respect it). But he is to Enjolras.
Enjolras is stoic throughout the whole ordeal. He speaks of glory in death. He is still devoted to his mistress, Patria. And yet his ideals have been shattered. The People were not ready. The Revolution will not come. He will die bravely, but he will have failed.
But then Grantaire stands up and says he's with them and requests permission to die by Enjolras' side.
And in that moment Enjolras' convictions are justified. If someone who has been the object of scorn, who has been apathetic, who has done little at all except annoy Enjolras and fail to stir up revolutionary thought; if Grantaire can rise up and die with him, then others will too. Perhaps not now, but in the future.
Grantaire becomes someone again when he dies next to Enjolras. And someday the people will rise.

luke !
Before dating:
‘One of the best lawyers I know of! God they’re so spectacular. We’ve known each other for quite a while, since we were kids, as a matter of fact. It’s a shame we were separated for so long, but that’s a story for another time, right? Anyways, I’d definitely recommend their services. I can give you a contact number if you’d like.’
Dating:
‘I want to get a bit personal with you, if that’s alright. I love [Name] with everything in me. I want to give them the best life. They’re the reason I’m having a harder time accepting my limited time left. I would hate to just up and leave them like that. So, I’m gonna fight to stay alive. Just for them. [Name] is always someone worth fighting for.’
marius !
Before dating:
‘Definitely someone who’s really feisty. Even during our first meeting they were determined to not play my games and get what they needed with me. Though, we did get a little closer after investigating together. Hopefully you trust me when I say that they are one of the best lawyers around. I could go on for hours about [Name]’s skills if you’d like.’
Dating:
‘A work of art to me. That’s how I would describe them in my eyes. Ever since our relationship started my artistry has been filled with them and their beautiful smiles. I’m hoping to compose a book of drawings of us, and maybe even gift it to them one day. That way, [Name] knows how incredible they are to me. Yeah, that’s a good idea!’
pantalone !
Before dating:
‘I can let you in on something about [Name], traveler. They’re a harbinger for a reason. Their negotiation and gambling skills are beyond anything I’ve seen before. They even exceed my own in some areas. Working with [Name] always guarantees success on my part when it comes to trades. I assure you, you don’t want to get on their bad side.’
Dating:
‘It’s truly mind blowing how well we work together in a relationship. I love them to death, and I trust they do love me too. I sometimes wonder what life would be like if I hadn’t pursued a relationship with them. That made me realize a small pang of loneliness I always had before. I can’t imagine going back to feeling that way again, all thanks to my love, [Name].’
thoma !
Before dating:
‘[Name] is one of my closest companions at the estate! They’re always offering to help me with my daily duties after they finish. They’re such a blast to hang around all the time. Even my lord and my lady enjoy [Name]’s presence when having a nice evening. You should come and spend a dinner with us one night traveler, how about it?’
Dating:
‘Where do I even begin with them? [Name] is absolutely spectacular in so many ways. Words can’t properly explain everything about them. We both really enjoy helping the local dogs when we have free time. To be honest traveler, I want to spend the rest of my life with them. It’s selfish, I know, but I truly can’t help it when it comes to them.’
xiao !
Before dating:
‘Oh yeah, I know of them. [Name] is one of the workers here at the Inn. They’re always bringing me meals, leaving them on the table and coming back later to see if I’ve eaten them. It’s irritating; we’ve never once come face to face yet they’re so adamant on making me get that meal. Maybe I could consider showing myself to them so they stop coming.’
Dating:
‘They’re.. too kind for their own good. The amount of times they come back after I push them away is frustrating and irritating. [Name] doesn’t understand how being with me endangers them. Still.. I can’t help but feel somewhat nice that someone is taking time to be with me everyday. But that stays between us traveler, understand?’
vyn !
Before dating:
‘They’ve already exceeded my expectations so many times, despite knowing each other for less than a year. [Name] truly is remarkable. A good lawyer, a sharp mind, and even good character. It’s hard to find someone with all those good qualities these days. I want to further my relationship with them, and I do believe you should meet them.’
Dating:
‘I never believed myself capable to love someone as much as I love [Name]. Everyday they continue to shock me in the best way possible. If I may get personal with you, my social experiences as a child weren’t great. Meeting [Name] and allowing them in my heart was scary, but I overcame it. I have them, and I never want to let them go.’
zhongli !
Before dating:
‘Ah, you speak of one of Ningguang’s closest companions, is that right?. If I may, I believe they are reliable and easy to speak with. I’ve noticed [Name]’s interest in some of the stories I have to tell. I enjoy they’re company, and I truly don’t mind telling them any stories or facts I know. I believe their attentive nature is why Ningguang likes them so much.’
Dating:
‘What a beautiful soul they are. I sometimes wonder how I managed to become lucky as such, with [Name] by my side like this. It’s things like these that make one really start to think traveler. I have a will to protect them with everything I have. Such a pure soul in this world is hard to find, and I plan to keep mine for a while.’
