Me, after a Test Match Special commentator expresses their belief that the new All Creatures Great and Small is somehow "better" than the 1978 version: This is pure insanity and TMS can no longer be trusted on anything, how can they even be trusted to know about cricket, do they have no TASTE

#Look it's fine that this show exists and people will watch it and like it and that's ok maybe it's just not for me #But that was like a statement purely designed to piss me off #There were lots of issues with the 1978 adaptation! I still vastly preferred the books any day!#And I actually initially had high hopes for the new one because they at least cast a Scot (albeit a Highlander not a Clydesider) as James #And the actors at least looked a little bit younger than Christopher Timothy and Robert Hardy #And thank god Helen actually sounds like she's a farmer's daughter and doesn't speak RP!#But from the half hour I've seen of it I've had to write off this new adaptation #For two major reasons #First of all there's Siegfried #Siegfried is one of the key central aspects of the vibe of the books and therefore key to any adaptation #Robert Hardy was too short and too old for the part but he lived and breathed the character #The twinkle in the eye bouncing off the walls and in and out of rooms followed by half a dozen dogs utterly full of life even when angry #But this new Siegfried is just sort of... Eeyore-esque; he comes into a room and you can see the flowers droop and the set turn grey #Siegfried was angry Siegfried was happy and the historical character he was based on was no stranger to melancholy #Since Donald Sinclair did commit suicide or rather self-euthanasia after Alf Wight and his own wife Audrey died #But this slow grumbly figure in the new adaptation is not Siegfried Farnon- the book character didn't grumble more often he exploded #And why did the adaptation give him a dead wife that's so weird? What could that possibly add to the source material?#And this brings me onto my second problem which is to do with women and age #Firstly I have no idea why they aged down Mrs Hall or at least made her look younger than a woman her age would have back then #But what really drove me mad was when Heriot goes out to see some old woman hill farmer in the episode I saw #And this woman is far too clean and young-looking and you can see that she's wearing 'natural' look make-up #And a perfect set of clothes that looked like they were straight out of the House of Bruar autumn collection catalogue #Say what you like about the 1978 adaptation but old women looked like old women regardless of whether or not they wore make-up #It may be that the better quality of television screens means that the 'natural look' shows up on screen more clearly than it would have #But natural look make-up was not really a thing in the 1930s and for old women Yorkshire hill farmers I doubt they'd have much on at all #They just don't seem to be capable of allowing people to look old and wrinkled and real or have bad teeth or unattractive clothes #And everything is far too tidy- everybody looks far too perfectly country and quaint #Anyway the moral of this story is of course that I always recommend reading the books because they're much better #than any tv adaptation; but if forced to choose at least the 1970s one felt real and yet didn't have to be grim either #Ok that's my rant over please do feel free to enjoy the show I just got annoyed because the opinion was expressed on TMS

ii quite enjoy cooking although i dont know a whole lot about it but it is fun and i like to experiment and just wing stuff.. i also dont have a lot of like, resources bc my house is fucked up and nothing works and we own one pot, ive wanted to try baking out for a long time but the oven doesnt work yadda yadda yadda But well one day, whenever i live somewhere else, i can try it out.. but i liike doing what i can do here and it is so nice when i make food and its yummy :] esp if other people eat it too and also like it. i made cinnamony soft apple thing and my momma said is really good she liked it

#i get sad if i think about it too much bc i really would like for my dad to teach me stuff #but he cant due to how he lives within the soil of the earth these days. but he was a chef and made rly good food always.. well its ok #i also always regret that i was such a picky eater when i was younger #and i became much more courageous w trying new food and realized i like eating just about anything #around when i was like uuh.. idk 15 or 16 or so but #there was always a lot of food my dad would make that i wouldnt even try bc i was picky and i didnt stop being picky until years #after he died. i wish i could let him know. hed be happy about it i think #only slightly related but when i was little and would see in like #movies or at school and stuff how the mom/women stereotypically do the cooking in households it confused me #bc my dad cooked everything at my house like the only thing i can rmbr my mom making ever is like #Box mac and cheese

I LIKE THIS IDEA. Honestly, I feel that as they first start to date, and a good point with Hal's commitment, Hal doesn't exactly see himself as a father? (<- Also I feel this is exactly him though. And not to mention how much I HATEEEEE that they gave HalCarol a kid because none of them would ever actually want a baby because they're so cooped with work and wanting to make it out for each other rather than always forcing themselves to marry, even with Carol wanting to move progressively with a relationship.)

Back to HAL, I mean he's great with taking care of kids and getting along with them, but I don't think he could want kids. This goes with Barry as well (<- They both are deadly afraid of committing to something that means they could lose someone), he's great with goods but he feels he couldn't be a good dad because of Dawn and Don scolding him from the future. Then again if they both had to take care of a kid (such as Bart, which I think is cute but Max is also the caretaker for him ngl... I think they would be great with Wally TOO because of Brave and The Bold shenanigans. One of my favorites <- Hal calling Wally son when he had the green lantern ring :((( )

BUT YES, I think they would be good as caretakers in a way that makes me emotional. Because they would want to try again with what they lacked during their childhood growing up...

OC RNG stuff.

-Lucinda is engaged to the oldest prince in a family of nine where there are 8 brothers and then the youngest is the only girl. She adores her future husband. -Ink Blot is a really dumb mage who acts as a street performer using fake magic despite being an actual mage. He just wants to be the center of attention. -Ruby and Luce are from the same plot (thank you RNG I love the dream wardens). They're part of different pairs and basically just patrol to keep dreams in check. Ruby and Luce also don't really meet each other in canon. Their routes don't overlap but they both interact with the main duo which is Colette and Marcus. (Ruby wants to beat Marcus up while Luce wants to kiss Marcus for what it matters.)

#i really love luce hes just so calm and collected in front of marcus and colette to try and look reliable #but hes actually one of the younger wardens who is made to replace his partner's old partner #so hes with sil and sil is just watching him for the first decade like why is he so awkward #when will he warm up to me or the other wardens he meets why is he always so tense #and then something happens and luce is sent into a panic because he learns that marcus used to laugh with sil and the retired warden #hes like ???? WHY DOES HE HATE ME ? WHAT DID I DO? and sil is like the guy is older than me and doesnt do change well #thats all there is to it he got used to my old partner and youre a wrench in the comfort zone hell get over it tho #and when marcus laughs for the first time in front of luce it is SO over for luce he would do anything for marcus #but then you get marcus who is telling colette i have to say things took an unexpected turn with sils partner #i went from fine with robert to being abandoned by robert to do you think luce is cute cause i think hes cute #and marcus is very much IM SO GAY which is fair cause colette is like MM YEAH SAME #and then you guys gotta realize i love my silly lil prince group where the oldest bro has a really cool future wife #and then the second oldest is like hey bro im stealing your wife for the afternoon and lucinda is like i see i see #and then the second oldest and lucinda just spend the entire afternoon dancing and shes happy to indulge him #then the third oldest is the original main one where he and the castle witch are on a mission to help another kingdom #but like the fact the oldest has an arranged marriage with a woman he loves #and the second youngest is in love with the son of two castle aids #who happens to be 40 and very worn out with stress from having to turn the second oldest down all the time #then the third oldest has a crush on a prince from the kingdom hes trying to help but the crush is on like an 18 year old #so the 2nd and 3rd oldest are constantly bickering over what the other sees in their crushes #anyway hi i love my ocs (gestures to them)#and ink was a really minor character in the plot bc it was mostly me paying attention to a dumbass vampire #and this thief who had to help the dumb vampire get home bc he has no sense of direction and had been abducted

There's so much I want to say about finally having a Disney princess like Kit but I don't know how to put it into words.

All I know for sure is younger me would have loved to see Kit.

To see a Disney princess that isn't the one that needs rescuing in the story.

A Disney princess that knows how to fight and fight she does, she fights for everything she believes in and she fights to get her brother back.

And to have a knight like Jade. The closest we ever got before is Mulan and I love Mulan, but there's just something about Jade.

The love story between Knight and Princess has been done over and over before, but it's always a male knight saving his princess.

To get Jade, a female knight, and Kit, a princess that doesn't need rescuing is refreshing.

And I love that young people can grow up and see these two, to see the love they have for each other and it not be made to be seen as wrong or something they have to hide.

Seeing Kit and Jade just makes my heart happy.

I've spent 28 years not seeing myself in any Disney princess or knight, as much as I wanted to fight for my own princess.

I dunno, there's so many feeling I have for Kit and Jade and the show in general.

I know how I feel seeing them and I know what I want to say I just don't know how to really put in words beyond being grateful to finally see myself in something Disney.

#kinda one of those nights where i feel an overwhelming sorrow and grief #i dont know how else to describe it. I feel like ive been grieving for so long and i cant dig myself out of it #grieving people- people i lost- people who left me- grieving my childhood- my old house- myself kinda #omg sorry for being edgy on main #idk i just think about myself sometimes #me. the girl i was #i was so optimistic #if you went back and talked to me at age 8 i would have been smiling and bouncing around and happy #i always loved the spotlight back then #my mom says i was quiet but i remember wanting that attention i wanted people to see me i wanted to be kinda and friendly and fun #i was so hopeful and i was so extroverted #i knew most of the kids in my grade at one point and didnt fear talking to them #Im the opposite now.
