some people keep saying that bart being hal and barry's child is a bad idea (I mean I really get the idea cuz hal's always away for space missions and barry would end raising him alone for most of the time + hal's commitment issues)

I LIKE THIS IDEA. Honestly, I feel that as they first start to date, and a good point with Hal's commitment, Hal doesn't exactly see himself as a father? (<- Also I feel this is exactly him though. And not to mention how much I HATEEEEE that they gave HalCarol a kid because none of them would ever actually want a baby because they're so cooped with work and wanting to make it out for each other rather than always forcing themselves to marry, even with Carol wanting to move progressively with a relationship.)

Back to HAL, I mean he's great with taking care of kids and getting along with them, but I don't think he could want kids. This goes with Barry as well (<- They both are deadly afraid of committing to something that means they could lose someone), he's great with goods but he feels he couldn't be a good dad because of Dawn and Don scolding him from the future. Then again if they both had to take care of a kid (such as Bart, which I think is cute but Max is also the caretaker for him ngl... I think they would be great with Wally TOO because of Brave and The Bold shenanigans. One of my favorites <- Hal calling Wally son when he had the green lantern ring :((( )

BUT YES, I think they would be good as caretakers in a way that makes me emotional. Because they would want to try again with what they lacked during their childhood growing up...

And Barry came back during Wally's Christmas issue. Which gives a hilarious visual where Hal got proposed to by Carol and then comically got a phone call about Barry being alive and booked it out of there to go see him

rewatched flashpoint paradox and had a revelation

This is a short drabble inspired by a post from notdeezy with my own personal head cannons and changes to be more fun for me to write.

Changes from the post are that Hal's breakdown happens in a far more public place and Halbarry is less prevalent I can't write ships to save my life so that isn't super obvious, also it is suposed to be ambiguous if this is the entity Parallax or Hal's mind as I think that it makes the events worse for Hal.

The stars flicker through the windows that line the watchtower beautiful seas of shining nebulae an image so mystical and so so very beautiful a sight so few get to experience.

So why does Hal feel nothing?

A swirling beauty so few will every truly see yet nothing. He knows that's not normal even in all of his worst moments space still was beautiful, why does he feel so empty like everything is made of glass and will shatter over the smallest fault.

"Stop, stop thinking about this it won't help everything is fine", Hal yells in his mind "Just focus on the meeting" He looks out on the assembled league members though Hal doesn't know why he's here, he's not dumb, he can see all of the distrusting looks thrown his way when they thinks he's not paying attention it hurts but it is fair he hurt most to everyone here.

Hal turns away from the others staring out the window, yet seeing nothing mind racing he shouldn't be here how they can stand to have him here he hurt them so so much.

Despite being deep in thought he feels something walking up behind him, feeling a sense of creeping dread Hal turns around suddenly there's nothing there, he turns back startled.

Eye's widening in horror the window in front of him shows a different reflection a different face staring back, reaching out to the glass Hal looks down no longer seeing the white gloves that he's so desperate to see but instead a black clawed glove reaches out to caress the glass a wet, sopping sound leaking down.

No, no, nonono this isn't real it can't be Hal claws at his eyes tries to rip the false, it has to be false, it has to be he can't contemplate reality now, it can't be true he doesn't know what would happen if he wakes up to this it would break him again he knows, visage out, the armor is gone he isn't that, it's gone, he's safe, safe here, sure the others hate him but they stopped him they can help.

So look up see the truth our truth.

Hal's voice rings out jumping around his head bouncing against the hope breaking it when he looks up blood everywhere leaking through the rivets in the floor everything broken, shattered, torn apart.

Blood, so much he did this he did all of this, like before, yes like before, but you hid away tried to forget, he needed to do, this no no we were fixing things, we killed them, they hurt us, abandoned us when we needed them, but, but nothing remember, remember us remember who you are, we can't fix this we can it will be better all better.

Hal feels something wrap around him, arms pinned to his side as he feels another set of hands reach to his face touching all over the wounds he left behind, the face is blurry a the voice sounds like its going through water he can barley make out the words.

Hal wake up we are here you are safe, I know its hard but you can wake up I need you here

"B-Barry." No it isn't he's dead.

Yes it is, it's okay you're safe. Please wake up

The blood clears wiped up by something no no, don't leave me, don't abandon me again. "Barry." The face slowly un-blurs beautiful cerulean eyes with nothing but concern for him when why does he deserve this, this kindness can't he see that he is a monster?

"No your not Hal." He must have said that out loud, Hal should be concerned but it isn't the first time. "It's alright." The arms restraining him slowly release, hesitant like he will hurt them, with the arms gone he lurches forward strength in his legs gone supported by the body in front of him.

"Barry? Your here?" Voice uncertain as if the human he is clutching is fake like before? "Yes I am it's okay I know it hurts, but you need to breath." Barry's voice is so so real so alive this must be reality.

Calm down, why does he need to calm down, stinging pain laces up and down his arms why is that? Oh the claws ripping through the bones of his hands that explains the beginning blood is that all instinctively reaching for his mouth feeling the beginning of such sharp teeth it hasn't started yet they don't know yet as it must stay they can't know the tentative trust would be gone because of that bug lie he needs to go.

"I need to go." Hal pulls himself back ripping himself out of the comfort he so desperately wants (needs) leaves pushing past superman (the arms that trapped him) he doesn't move to stop him.

Tears streaming down his face and sickly yellow colour the horrible traits leaving as it should be, that isn't him he's human he's always been. We haven't been that since we touched the stars. Shut up he's human, he's human.

Leaving the watchtower behind he flees to the stars to cry in peace once again.

Just because I wanted to talk about this Hal can display traits from Parallax like the claws and teeth and can tell and feed from other beings fear he never displays this out of hatred of it except in some of his worst moments they come out with out any input. I thought it would be a cool idea and wanted to share it.

pokemons for halbarry?

Originally I was only going to give both of them 3 pokemon but I couldn’t narrow it down so here we go

Barry would have an ampharos as his main pokemon, mostly because its whole thing is the ball on its tail works as a light to guide people, usually ships, but I like the idea of him having an electric pokemon that inspires hope. Barry would also have an eevee he never evolves that eventually gets passed down to Wally, who gets to have a fun crisis over whether or not to evolve his uncles pokemon. He eventually would evolve it into a jolteon. Another pokemon barry would have is an absol, which I think would be fitting as his life has had all kinds of terrible things happen and I’d imagine a lot of people would blame it on his absol thanks to their reputation of bringing bad events. Finally I think Barry would have a riachu. All of the flash fam have to have a pikachu or a pikachu clone it is the rules.

Hal on the other hand would have a braviary as his main pokemon. It’s a flying type, it has brave in the name, it’s a given. I’d imagine this would be the pokemon he’s had the longest and probably has some relation to his dad. His next pokemon would be a sceptile. These pokemon are known for their nimbleness and there is no better way to sum up how I imagine Hal would fight. Dude would rather outmaneuver you then use his ring to make constructs half the time. I also think Hal would have a ledian, purely for vibes. I kinda like the idea that this pokemon reminds him of his remaining family like his mother and what not. Finally I think he would have a rockruff. He’d just be drawn to a little ruff puppy it’s inevitable.

I tend to do mostly one shots, I say as more than half of the fics I have up currently have more than one chapter, but I'm wanting to do something bigger. Just not sure which to start with. And yes, I have most of these planned out, as well as begun writing them. I'm just not sure what I should focus on currently. And no, these aren't the official names. (I struggle with titles)

BirdFlash Slowburn HS/College AU:

BirdFlash w/ powers and superhero stuffs, and they also go to the same highschool. Current plan is to only have Dick and Wally attend the same highschool, but we've got some other supers of their generation in the hero side. Super slow, and long. Identity shenanigans, Dick is a theatre kid, they won't confess until in or after college (but don't worry it, opens on senior year), they will be Robin and Kid Flash at the beginning but will morph into Nightwing and Flash just cause I want to play with a little bit of cannon. probably gonna be super long, and will take me a year or more to complete.

Captain Marvel Lawsuit:

Both carol and billy (in their respective universes) facing lawsuits and media backlash, because they copied off of a fictional superhero. So, we've got the Avengers helping Carol, and Jon and Damian and some Justice League helping Billy. In Carol's (the Marvel universe) DC is the main comics company. And In Billy's (the DC universe) Marvel is the main comics company. Idk, just thought it'd be funny cause it's a real lawsuit between DC and Marvel. And I don't really like them calling Billy 'Shazam', because that's his power activation thing and it just seems weird, he can't even introduce himself as a hero.

Avengers Vacay Shenanigans:

Basically a crackfic of shenanigans. Like, they're staying at a rented cabin for a week or so. And what place would have enough rooms? So roommates, I think they might almost die for the sake of breakfast, and there may be the slightest bit of angst (which will just be me projecting about my own angsty mac and cheese experience onto Clint), other than that relatively fluffy shenanigans that would ensue on one of their vacations. I'm definitely pushing both friendships and relationships in this one. Current plan includes WinterFalcon, estabed Scott/Hope, Clint/Loki, platonic Science Bros, platonic Steve + Bucky + Sam, platonic Clint + Sam (honestly, geeks), platonic Bucky + Loki (admiring their geeks), platonic Natasha + Thor (competitive besties?), ect.

HalBarry Domestic Dreams:

Similar to a Superbat idea from frownyalfred,(https://www.tumblr.com/frownyalfred/738620242981470208/fic-idea-a-world-where-clark-and-bruce-both-get?source=share), like I think that's where this idea originated from. Simply thought it months later, and had to hunt down the og for this post. ANYWAYS, Barry and Hal have been having the same dreams, a continuous plot of a domestic life between the two. But it's kinda weird to mention to your coworker that you've been having ultra realistic dreams about being in a relationship with him. right? So they both stay silent. However, they know things that they wouldn't know if it weren't for the dreams, random phrases, or actions, all that fun stuff. So, cue awkwardness. Might be a bit of a slowburn but not as much as the BirdFlash one.

BatArrow bonding over billionaires, kids, vigilantes, and the fucking media:

the media basically forces Bruce and Ollie into a relationship, after seeing them having lunch together once and that was a business meeting. They end up fake dating, for the media, then they start to see the benefit of having another single father billionaire around. So they bond over that, and start to become official. Eventually they have the inevitable superhero secret identity reveal, and turns out their dating the coworker that they only tolerate. But they learned to love each other in the hero side too. They just deserve some love. Where else to get it from other than your childhood friend/repeated hookup/coworker?

eyeballing at gl:tas halbarry even barry didn't appear at that show at all (idk I feel like if barry appears in gl:tas the halbarry fandom will explode)

Can we all agree that the portrayed writing for the characters in GL:TAS is one of the best-perceived versions (<- Might be me but that show actually understood the characters, let me be honest...) Especially the comics they have on this show...

So, if we ever got a glimpse of Hal's civil life + league life in the show every now and then... I feel that we would get to explore partially his relationships with people, like how they did for characters in the show. Not to mention, we don't exactly get Hal content, because that DCAU GL and FLASH over different media has kinda been John and Wally, unless we talk for movies but I also love that duo though, they're funny...

I would let the people in charge of GL:TAS write for Barry... Or PLEASE if he did, I would enjoy seeing them with The Brave and The Bold dynamic... (Would literally kick my legs and giggle). I could image that the series version of Hal and Barry would be a take on their friendship, specifically with how they act with one another. They would also personally portray Barry as a nerd, let's be honest... Or just the way (If anyone has ever seen Star Trek: The Original Series) (TOS) Spock (<- Star Trek reference, uhmm K/S is so Halbarry..)

It's a literal crime that they canceled this show, have you SEEN the promo art for GL:TAS season 2 (<- The art by Bruce Timm, I hate him but we get to see a little glimpse of what could have been)

I had to look this up because I dont usually read comics (I really want to tho) but apparently in Hal Jordan And The Green Lantern Corps #28, Hal almost entered the speedforce.

I was wondering if he ever told Barry or Wally or any speedster.... Or anyone for that matter that he almost did?

(You might be asking yourself why im asking a flash fan a GL question? Its because, if he didnt, I want to know how the flashfam would react to that and given the fact that you know the family so well, I feel like youd be giving their reactions justice)

Hmm, off the top of my head I can't remember Hal telling any speedsters about that or any speedsters talking about that in general. So I don't think Hal has spoken about this to them in a comic.

However, if Hal did tell Barry about this it would be fairly accurate to say that Barry would have a heart attack. So hats off to whoever wrote that fic, that is extremely accurate.

It's actually not unheard of for non-speedsters to go into the speedforce. It's actually so common that there is a mini city inside the speedforce and there are several plants, animals, people and machines stuck in there.

This is because the bolt of lightning that struck Barry wasn't really that unusual. Barry forming a connection with the speedforce and developing superspeed was the unusual part. But there are several documented cases of the speedforce attempting to form a connection, failing, and either exploding/killing everything in the area or sucking everything into the speedforce instead.

(This is like a once every 50 years kinda thing but it adds up when you remember that the speedforce encompasses all of time)

So, yeah. Not super strange to enter the speedforce. The speedforce is always looking to make new connections. The real danger lies in what would have happened to Hal.

Falling into the speedforce as a non-speedster is like falling into the middle of the ocean without knowing how to swim. There's a chance you could find a floatation device or a friendly dolphin to grab onto, but it's an extremely slim chance. The most likely result is death.

Keep in mind that most speedsters don't even survive the speedforce.

(the risk also depends on what 'level' of the speedforce but that's a whole different thing)

And then, even if Hal did miraculously survive, he wouldn't be able to escape without the help of a speedster. Only highly skilled and extremely powerful speedsters with strong lightning rods can escape the tight grip of the speedforce.

Anyone can enter the speedforce, few survive it and only speedsters can leave.

adding on to the batman infestation on AO3, any green lantern fic recs? I've read like the first 5 pages of ranked by kudos and I'm desperate. Also how is there not more fanfiction for the gl animated series? that was my childhood and I am disappointed about the lack of it.

I don’t read fics that often anymore because it takes too long to find the good ones and the only fics I read are Halbarry centric or Dick Grayson character studies. Rlly hard to find good fics abt just solo characters I enjoy that dont have ships included or have good characterization :( so unfortunately i do not have any reccomendations for you 😔. I would ask @rillette they’ve got alot of good hal centric recs

I just realized hal and barry's close relationship never surfaced that much outside of the comics

every cartoons, shows or movies never really explored their relationship that much and closest thing we got is the DCAMU and the lego dc movies (maybe dcshg too), I don't know what's the reason but damn no wonder halbarry fans are looking in the crumbs
