because he’s just so fucking focused and so incredibly painfully aware that he has found the thing he excels at. and if he just keeps excelling then nobody can hurt him. he can keep outrunning his fate. he can be this hardened exalted untouchable thing instead of the youngest child in a family that’s cursed. he can keep everybody on the outside and keep his head down and scrub floors and throw up and wake up in a burning house. and he’ll be alone but he’ll be protected. because all of the people who were supposed to love him left or died or drank it away.

but richie will always know him as mikey’s baby brother. as donna’s son. richie knows him and carmy can’t hide from that. he just can’t.

so, really, it was always going to be richie. it would always have to be richie.

i was just on the beach literally i was tanning and writing But Daddy I Love Him with Colston and my brother (who is a humongous college linebacker) was like come throw the football and like not even a minute after I get up to play he comes up right behind me when i go to catch the ball and like pulled my hands down and ripped my entire FRESH BEAUTIFUL acrylic nail off and my real nail so i hate everything right now this shit hurts so bad. anyways i WILL be continuing to write But Daddy I Love Him with Colst so whatever.
