As a long-time fan of Your Partner Chara, getting into Monochrome has been such a beautiful rollercoaster. I just got to when Cody got their name and I'm in tears and just want the best for them. i'm glad you decided to read monochrome! if you're looking to get your fix for characters like ypc!chara, cody is somewhat of a spiritual successor to those old ideas...

though i had other inspirations as well, i can't deny that ypc!chara had an influence in cody's personality and how their story are structured. i wanted to recapture that same misanthropic and angsty video game character energy that yourpartnerchara had.

i think the biggest difference between chara and cody though, is that chara has fully accepted the horrors of the player's character and no longer grieves for their lost humanity, while cody still desperately wants the player to recognize them as human. which definitely hurts a lot more when they don't do that!

i appreciate you reading through from the beginning! have fun catching up, and i hope you'll enjoy the ride until the end!

I heard this region theme was composed by Dimeng Yuan and not Yupeng Chen this time (though I believe YPC composed the battle theme here). Honestly I liked the theme better than the battle theme. The battle theme is still very good, I loved the chord progression, but the ending is very meh and kind of took me out of the mood that it had already set up
