harrowclare's 2024 reading list
here is the long, long list of my 2024 reads with ratings & dates. because of tumblr's limit on links, i cannot direct to individual reviews. if you would like to view my reviews on their respective sites, you can find them on thestorygraph & goodreads.
dates are listed as month, day. manga volumes that are binged will be grouped so that this list isn't a million miles long, with the range of ratings for the volumes in the stack. a few of these titles were started in 2023, lol whoops! those are the only dates with a year stamp.
wanna read along or chat with me about books? i'm super active on fable.
reading challenges: horror bingo reaading challenge (2024-2025)

a really interesting customer service philosophy that my boss explained is that we should, essentially, act out the client's anticipated feelings so that they don't take it out on us.
so, if i need to share bad news that something's delayed, i should express frustration and even indignation if it seems like that would be the client's response.
people generally don't want to escalate when another person is already emotional, and it also makes the client feel like you "care" about the situation and understand their feelings. they don't feel the need to rush you because you make it clear that you're already rushing.
it's really fascinating since i feel like most customer service philosophies are very much about minimizing oneself and coming across endlessly polite and patient... i think it's a little specific to this more b2b line of work where we do a lot of liaising with larger systems, but it does see applications in other fields.
#indexed post#Sorry if this is like a dystopian Employment post but i find these kinds of things genuinely interesting in an autistic way#This isnt me recommending this strategy per se but like it just truly fascinated me. It was like. Oh shit you can do that!#Of course that doesn't mean like swearing and shit but like#I distinctly remember that I drafted an email about some paperwork getting rejected#And my manager edited it before sending and said 'the [big guys] are being ridiculous and asking that we x y and z'#And I thought it was strange bc it's like How is it my place to say what's ridiculous!#But now I know... It's intentional#partner has seen baristas and stuff do it too though there when youre a reasonable person its like Huh? Okay?#I wasnt going to get mad because youre out of soy milk but i understand youre protecting yourself here

Ok I literally cannot find an answer and I don't want to make a Stack Overflow account. I want my page to scroll normally but the I've made a section stacked on top of my page to act as arrow links, unfortunately, every time my cursor is on that region, it's preventing me from scrolling and I literally don't know what to do.
This page is supposed to be a "pretend" pop-up full page screen and will have a close button on the top right. I just don't want it to be a bad user experience to have the user click "close" to check the next thing
#i cant fucking find an answer to this. maybe my code is fucked up#which yk it could be!#these r 2 sections. 1 section is the entire website and the other one is the overlay#idk if thats whats fucking it up. the buttons are also on a z-index since it didnt want to show up#etc

I still have no idea what I'll use this for but I changed it so it no longer has tape on the notes so they're more like sticky notes :) Now they have a lil header bar that you can move them with. The symbol is just there to visually tell that that's how you move them.
#rice rambles#neocities#all of them move and the z-index of the one you move changes so it's always on top :)
