Zora Anatomy - Body Types and Colouration

Last of the big upload! Hopefully. I will be posting more as time goes on but I just wanted to build up more content in the masterlist tbh. If you have any requests or questions, my asks are always open as usual! Consider this an AU as these are all my headcannons for the LoZ franchise and will not be 100% accurate.

It is no surprise that Zora come in a large variety of body types. Many Zora adapted from a wide range of fish and aquatic life, with the most common being shallow-water fish, but are no exception to deep water and larger fish. When seeing a Zora, it is likely you will never seen the same type of Zora without them being related. When observed as adults, it seems many Zoras’ height will pertain to the type of fish they come from; larger fish such as sharks, sturgeons, rays, and occasionally jellyfish tend to have much larger heights and frames. They usually tend to be muscular from adulthood due to their strenuous lifestyles.

Zora tend to have bright colours with many reds, pinks, blues, and greens in their scales. This doesn’t mean these are the only colours observed as yellow, orange, and purple Zora can be seen from time to time. The brightness of one’s scales is attributed to age as Guppies and young adults have the most saturated scale colours, which get darker after their second puberty. The oldest Zora in history (over 500 years old) look to have almost pitch black scales with an iridescent sheen.

All Zora have a primary white/off-white colour and a secondary, brighter colour, with some having tertiary colours to compliment the secondary. Females often have pure white scales on their face, torso and waist, fins, things, calves, and arms, whilst males have an off-white version of said secondary colour. Trans Zora or those wishing to change their scale colours are sometimes seen beside oceans and tidepool rubbing coloured corals against themselves to alter them.

Many are born with genetic conditions and mutations such as vitiligo (causing up to four colours usually in Koi Zora), melanism in their secondary and tertiary colours, albinism, and sometimes harmless red spots dotting their primary colours through puberty, dubbed ‘Fish Acne’. Body types can also be affected as Acromegaly and Dwarfism can be seen a few times every generation or so. Occasionally a Zora child will be born without a limb or two due to complications during pregnancy, but are only considered severe if the dorsal fins/tail is affected as the main limb used to swim is the previously mentioned tail. If a Zora has one confirmed genetic condition, it its likely they will have more hidden beneath the surface.

In Totk, the draconified Zelda and Ganondorf have horns similar to Naydra and Dinraal, due to their connection to the triforce.

Wisdom/Nayru backward, spikey blue horns. Zelda has smaller horns because her design's meant to be more elegant.

Power/Dinn curved, warm-coloured horns (some point back on Draganon). The Gan-Man has way more horns, which are very spiky too, which is meant to convey how dangerous he is.

So in conclusion, if Link got draconified, his horn would be long and pointy in the middle of his forehead- my bet is that it would resemble the master sword, so it would be straight and probably thinner too.

Edit: he would also be green. Forgot to mention that, triforce of courage and whatnot.

I feel like Link feels guilty about it because it's so obvious that it was only self defense after the triforce was touched by king Daphnes and it literally drove Ganondorf insane

*Tears of the Kingdom SPOILERS*

Okay, so I've seen some fanart that may line up with my thoughts, but I just have some stuff I wanna say after beating tears of the kingdom. The ending was very sweet and wholesome and it is literally the best ending possible for the circumstances. HOWEVER, I think it would have been more appropriate (may not be the right word) if Zelda stayed a dragon and LINK completely lost his arm.

So like, it was stated many of time that consuming the forbidden fruit gummy would result in an unchangeable and unthinkable transformation. I'm glad Zelda came back in the end, but as far as themeing goes, I feel she should have stayed a dragon. The monumental sacrifice to transform yourself into something you wouldn't even recognize to MAYBE get this decayed weapon to your companion thousands of years into the future so they can defeat the apocalypse (again). Although, the reason Zelda did so was because she had unwavering faith in Link - and vice versa - even though she is completely unaware of his state in the future. The last thing she saw was Link falling with her and his arm and his sword completely busted. But she still had faith because Link is the only thing in Hyrule that she can rely on. No matter what happens, Link will be there. So she makes this sacrifice to become a dragon and help Link kill the Demon King. There are a few moments throughout where there is some longing between Link and Zeldragon, which are quite somber. And by Link slaying the Demon King and ridding Hyrule of evil, her sacrifice was not in vain. In my opinion, her transforming back into human form takes away from the impact of that decision. While her initial decision believed she would not come back, within the themes of the story it makes it feel less (to me at least). And think about the bittersweet ending it would've been if everything was better and Hyrule was safe and Link just looked up to see her at all times. Sad, yes. But without her Hyrule wouldn't exist.

In addition, I believe Link should have permantly lost his arm. As stated at the beginning, the damage was beyond repair so Rauru just gave Link his arm / power for a bit. And in the end he used said power to heal both Zelda and Link's arm. However, I think it would've been way rad if Link, along with the help of the sages, took on the Demon King and they had to use all their collective powers to do so. And to land a final blow (since the Demon King is literally the most powerful being in Hyrule) they used Rauru's hand to weaken him, and tear away from Link's arm (though it's just a smooth stub now), and use the master sword to finish him. (And I feel the final fight was a bit lackluster but that's neither here nor there). Link would then straight up not have his right arm anymore. And it would've been cool if either Purah crafted Link a new arm from sheikah technology or if he simply lived without it bc disability doesn't need to always be "fixed." I was thinking something similar to Finn from Adventure Time honestly.

In conclusion, I believe Zelda should have stayed a dragon and Link should have fully lost his arm because it would fit better with the themes and make for a more interesting story. What I think both Zelda and Link's arm represent are sacrifice and loss for what you believe in. They were both willing to give up a part of themselves (though Link kinda unintentionally) to protect those they care about and safeguard their home. The end would've shown that their actions were not in vain and that it was worth it. I feel getting things back to "normal" takes away from these themes and the impact of these events. This is my headcanon bb. In addition, all the cute zelink stuff could've taken place between botw and totk so you could have both "haha cute couple" and "I lost my arm and my gf is a dragon now. That's rough, buddy" at the same time. :)

P.S. This is just my opinion I promise pinky. I heavily enjoyed this wonderful game (I finished it after all) and think the ending is really wholesome and great for Link, Zelda, and everyone else. Maybe I just wanna see my little guys suffer. Who knows.

Why? It’s one of the most difficult questions to try and find an answer to. Ganon wasn't cordial by nature. However he seemed to be trying his best to come off as such. It was strange. What he said could not be what he really meant, but no matter how much people tried to pry he just said he was being truthful. He only wanted your hand in marriage; and with it a right to rule. That had to have been it. With the marriage your power would in part become his. Yet that couldn't have been all of it.

Your kingdom was not the biggest, strongest, or even the best to propose the deal to if he just wanted power. There was something more at stake here. You just didn't know what yet. The letter proposing the plan asked if the two of you could meet in person to discuss matters further. Instead of politely declining you said yes. This isn't something you could turn down. If his pride was wounded, he might take stronger action to take what he wanted.

The meeting was you doing all of the talking. Ganon just danced around the question of what his intentions were. Either he would lay some threat at you or your people if you didn't comply, or he would say something that must have been sweet by his standards. It was bone chilling. The way he spoke about how you were already his and how he did love you, and had ways to prove it, left you with no chance. You turned down his proposition for now. Lying through your teeth a promise to consider the offer was said.

He just nodded and left. Not saying a word. Later that day the council was scared out of their mind. Asking how the private meeting went. They urged you to be careful and to genuinely consider the marriage. It would be good to avoid conflict. Even if this didn't lead to war, making enemies with this man was not an ideal situation to be in.

So you were true to your word, and you went to bed promising to stay true to what you said earlier. The next morning several gifts were waiting for you to open. Were these prepared for if you said no? Did he plan to give them to you because he figured you would say yes? It didn't matter. Over the next few weeks Ganon would have gifts delivered. They were never accompanied by a note or letter. From gold and jewels to trophies from monsters he had killed, the items ranged from standard gifts to more worrying items.

There had been reports of a lynel who was moving a bit too close to one of the villages in your territory. Like clockwork the moment you heard about the news three days later it’s head was left in front of your castle. Was this his way of saying he cared about you and your people, or something more threatening? A gift in disguise. The truth of the matter was he had spies who heard of these reports, and while unnoticed snuck into your land, and back out. All in the matter of a day or two. He was already back in his castle by the time you heard the news.

From what you heard this was just his way of showing affection and pride. He was showing you he was capable of defending you from outside threats. That didn't make it feel any more sincere though. It hardly seemed like a true act of kindness. Both Ganon’s past and present actions seemed to be his way of saying he will do what he wants. He would enter your country with your grace or without. It was up to you. By welcoming him with marriage rather than through a war it would give you more leverage. It was the smarter option. That didn't make it any easier. 

It was with a heavy heart you agreed to the marriage. For your people and his. The next time you spoke in person he seemed much happier. There was a grin stuck on his face. Like he couldn't be happier with the outcome. How couldn't he smile? You were a rabbit standing in front of a wolf. Both of you knew there was no way out. One could only watch in horror to see how long it takes before the wolf decides to take a bite.

Doodled BOTW / Age of Calamity Sheik! I had fun with this!! I imagine Zelda to have gotten fed up with her assigned knight keeping a constant eye on her. She wants to find other ways to prevent the Calamity without the obstacles of being the princess, so one night, she steals some of Impa’s garments to sneak from the castle.

Though, Link is quick to take notice of the princess’ disappearance, and a sneaky figure venturing from the castle.

What if the different incarnations of Link can't talk because they are still paying for something the first Hero did?

Today I was studying some Greek mythology, and noticed that the gods tend to be... Quite vengeful.

Imagine if the Chosen Hero tried to retort and Farore or Hylia casually cursed him and his descendants, so now every Link has a different reason for not talking so he can't retort and just follow his destiny as the Goddesses wanted.

So for a little bit now I’ve had this fun headcannon that what if Minish depending on where they are from look different! (Also way more mouse like) so this is exactly that. Over the however long I want to flesh Thai idea out more and more. So for now we start with the Temprate woodland (and shrubland) minish!

These cuties make their homes out in temprate woodlands which is actually what I like to think of the Minish woods as! They mainly look like deer or wood mice though like other minish species can have fur patterns like other animals! Their feathers are like those of the birds in the area!
