Updated Review of Zeus Duo Chew Toys 🐶

We’ve tried all of the Zeus Duo chew toys. They are still the only chew toys she really enjoys. She has destroyed a few but chew toys aren’t supposed to be indestructible. I’d rather buy a replacement for a chew toy she enjoys than pay 2k for an emergency dental procedure (looking at you Benebone Dental Chew 😒)

I break down each toy below. Overall, I would recommend this brand if you have a moderate chewer. Some of the shapes are easier to tear apart than others. Expect to see a chunk of clear rubber come off and be prepared to throw it away at that point. Ingesting a little bit would probably be fine but once a piece is torn off it’s easier to peel back the rest. When chewing the dogs teeth will scratch the hard nylon core a little. It makes a cronch sound that Mandana really enjoys. I’m ok with this because the rubber absorbs a lot of the shock. Without the rubber the nylon is too hard to be considered safe so definitely supervise and throw away as needed.

Turquoise Stick (chicken) - 5/5 desirability, quickly trashed. meant for smaller dogs so we won’t be repurchasing. not pictured.

Blue Stick (bacon) - 5/5 desirability, surprisingly still hanging on. good for tug.

Yellow Bone (coconut) - 5/5 desirability. quickly trashed. repurchased but if it gets trashed quickly a second time I won’t buy a third.

Green Dumbbell (mint) - 3/5 desirability. difficult to tug. no missing spikes yet.

Coral Cross Bones (chicken) - 5/5 desirability. not super easy to tug but possible. easy for her to hold while chewing. took some time to trash. repurchased.

Purple Figure 8 (bacon) - 4/5 desirability. good for tug. no signs of wear.

Green Ninja Star (mint) - 3/5 desirability. will chase but odd shape makes it slightly more difficult to tug & chew.

Pink Tri Ring (coconut) - 3/5 desirability. will tug & chase but doesn’t sit down to chew on it.

Ariadne: Who is now the ‘Mother of her people and her land’ as president. A representation of feminine power. Life

Eurydice: The first person to return from the Underworld and essentially, conquer/master death. Death 

Caeneus: Sweet, sweet Caeneus who embodies love, the driving force of creation. Love

They don't embody the return to Chaos per say, rather the power that sprang from it. The necessary cycle of death and rebirth, destruction and creation that Zeus has selfishly stalled. That they, as a trio will restart.

i really appreciate the trials of apollo for fleshing out the gods some more. while we are mostly focused on the titular character, his perspective lets us glean what the rest of the pantheon is like.

riordan’s gods are incredibly human. they are humans that have been given so much power and have overstayed their welcome for so long, and have never known anything different. their inhumaness is mostly characterized by those facts: they are powerful, they have and will be around for thousands of years, and they have never known anything different.

thats the only thing that separates the gods from their children, or hell, any other mortal. personality wise at least.

the snag is is that their power comes from belief: what they can do is completely up to what their believers think.

its like if you tell someone youre a college student majoring in business and someone goes “oh you must have a minor in math!” and suddenly oh shit you gotta pretend like you totally have a minor in math also. or if you say youre an artist and someone goes “obviously you know graphic design and thats what youre working in specifically” even if youre like. a hobbyist mostly doing illustration work. and you go “yeah man i love graphic design. its my passion also”. this is how youd reply if you are someone who wants to fit everyone’s expectations and have low to no self esteem. or just dont care what people think what you do.

however this is worse for the gods because they literally cant go “haha no i dont have a minor in math” or “oh i do illustration not graphic design”, they just gotta roll with that perception. like oh you think im the sun? okay i guess its my job now fuck! alright!

the nice thing is that they mostly automatically get that knowledge so they dont fuck up too bad but also yeesh. Yearsh. if they dont measure up to that perception, than what about the things that are true? if apollo isnt the sun, is he even the god of music? or as powerful as he says? is his epithet even phoebus? so on and so forth.

so like the gods are saddled with the worst golden child expectations and are told to fuckin ball with it. which explains why they are all so terrible. girl id be too, honestly.

After travelling for hours, Bailey made it to Sulani! She wasted no time in settling into beach life, getting a sweet tan and eating her first coconut. I don't think she was impressed with the coconut, but she's excited to see what Sulani has in store! Zeus seems to be enjoying the sunshine too.

a basket of fresh baked bread rested on the dining table, its scent tantalizingly delicious. demeter had meant only to bring it as a gift for her sister, as few appreciated her talent for baking the way that hera did. making conversation with zeus that afternoon was low on the priority list, and try as she might to simply bow her head and move on with her life, even she could not ignore those bags under his eyes.

Really want to go in there and give you guys a hug (specially Faker and Keria). Upload you guys' happy pictures to remind that is how life should be, up and down, win and lose, good and bad days.
