This is a big thing that I continue to work on unlearning/relearning

I have OCD and with that comes quasi-hallucinations, and I grew up watching a ton of horror films so some of the worst of mine are the standard white skin/black hair demon girl type shit.

However, because a lot of them are based on horror film I have found comfort in doing things that “go against” horror films and being like “see? This could never happen.”

(It’s irrational. I know that. But shut up. This is how I cope.)

For example: I started hearing garbled whispering from beneath my table, so I started playing the muppets sound track. Because they would never play Movin’ Right Along when the protagonist is about to get attacked. That won’t happen. Disney, who owns the muppets, wouldn’t give them the rights.

And it fucking worked.

Religious and Spiritual Affiliations

We all have extremely different opinions on religion and varying degrees of openness to discussions of it. Below will be detailing our religions, spiritualities, sensitivity towards the subject, and any other details related to but do not fit neatly into the above 3. Alters not mentioned either chose to keep these details private, has not shared them with me, or do not have anything to share. Please keep in mind this post is talking about our strong opinions and triggers. The goal is not (and never will be) to insult someone's belief system. Sensitivities are due to religious trauma, not the religion itself.

Music

A while ago, I (The Librarian) noticed I had a very different music taste to our host (Alex). After Rose realized the same thing, she sat down and made her own playlist on Spotify of songs she enjoys and songs that are positive triggers for her. Soon after, Michael and I did the same thing but with our personal music tastes. Most recently, Molotov has added punk’s playlist into the rotation. Switching

We have not truly seen anything on the physical aspects of switching. The usual mental effects are there (confusion, dissociation, mixed emotions, etc.), but we find one of the main ways to tell if someone if trying to switch out are physical.

Some physical sensations:

Finding the feeling of our glasses more/less comfortable

Desire to take off glasses

A pulling at the very back of our head, as though attached to a string

Light sensation similar to pressure behind the eyes

Eyes sliding closed or having a hard time staying open

Involuntary movements or stims

Sudden hunger, thirst, or other basic need

More/less body distortion than usual

Mild blurry vision

Amnesia

Our level of dissociative amnesia fluctuates quite strongly. We can forget one or 2 simple things (such as the topic of conversation or not realizing we said something until much later) or, and as is becoming more common recently, forgetting major tasks, which is particularly problematic given that we are still in school. 

Rose is becoming accustomed to fronting during our math classes (which is great since she’s the best at math), but Alex is usually out for the rest of the day. Yesterday we were given a homework assignment that Rose had neglected to tell us about.

Another subject of amnesia today was us reviewing our test in a science class that we had narrowly passed. Alex attempted to answer questions, but didn’t remember why he had chosen them. Our likely answer is that someone (most possibly Oliver) had aided Alex in that assignment via coconing. 

Specific events in our past (whether traumatic or just unpleasant) are blocked by Michael in his hallways, each of his doors representing a new memory, similar to Grunkle Stan’s mind in Gravity Falls. Michael also has the job of making sure false memories stay in place until we are able to cope with them properly. Not every door in his hallway leads to something in our past, it is also a mild form of quick travel in the inner world if you don’t mind the headaches and nausea.

Littles

Our littles are ill-defined at the best of times and completely unrecognizable at worst. We only have 2 known out of the 6 or so that we have. The 2 we have mostly known are Lily and Stacy. Lily enjoys playing princess and loves sweets. Stacy is very touchy and gets very anxious when not touching someone (ie. holding her hand, carrying her, Oliver can frequently be found giving Stacy a piggyback ride). The 2 sometimes blend to create the 1 Lucy, which goes to show how difficult it is to get a proper head count. Speculative traumagenic formations under the cut.

Stacy is very touchy as she was born from the times our mother refused to hug or touch us whenever we had upset her. As such: not touching = does not love her.*

Lily is likely due to us losing lots of our stereotypical femininity as we started transitioning. Equally as likely is that she is born from the idea that Alex is a girl, as his mother insists, but the only time he’s been a girl is childhood. Ergo, a child that is extremely femme.*

*All of the above are speculation. There is only so much we can know for a fact given the severe lack of mental health resources at our disposal.

Only a few of us have been out long enough to know what our handwriting consistently look like. Here is a swift overview of the ones we know so far. We can all simply emulate Alex’s handwriting but these options feel more comfortable.

Alex- mix of cursive and script, usually doesn’t lift pencil, medium to large print, prefers pen
