The Tuesday Brief
No Kings Day: The Fight to End Authoritarians By Cathrine DiManno.
'On June 14 of 2025, protests took place across the United States of America. The significance of these events is not lost on citizens. Historically, June 14th is known as Flag Day and is also the day of the Military Ball. This year in particular was also Donald Trump’s birthday parade. These protests rebranded the day as “No Kings Day” showing the other citizens and the government that the American people would not stand for tyranny (oppressive government rule) and that they wanted to be heard when they said, “No thrones, no crowns, no kings!” (No Kings, 2025).'

⊹Introducing λατρεία (Latreia)- an issue that explores the very core of fandoms⊹
Tumblr media
The Theme:
Devotion & delusion: an examination of fangirl culture as both a celebration and a critique.
Have you ever cringed at your past self—or maybe felt empowered by your unapologetic devotion? Why is it that fangirl culture is both celebrated and ridiculed —dismissed as silly, yet powerful enough to shape trends, markets, and identities?
In this issue, we're diving into all of it. From Potterheads to Tumblr-era fanfiction —fandoms. A space full of creativity, intensity, collaborations, and... contradictions.
Is it just harmless fun, a form of identity, or something more complicated?
We're looking for writing, art, confessions, commentary, or simply the chaos that explores the strange, joyful, unhinged world of fangirl culture. The celebration and the critique. The beauty and the mess.
We Accept:
Literary: flash fiction, essays, creative non-fiction, introspective pieces, articles, screenplays, poetry, prose, letters.
word count: 3000 words max.
Art, ceramics, painting, drawing, printmaking, sculptures, graphic design, photography, mixed media and digital paintings or illustrations.
Submission Guidelines:
-Pieces must not include hate speech, extreme violence, nsfw etc;
-All pieces must be original; plagiarism & ai usage is strictly prohibited
-We do not have an age policy. all ages are welcome to submit!
-It is free to submit your work
-We do not pay a fee for submissions however, after publication all rights revert back to the writers/artists.
Important Note:
This issue revolves around fandoms and fan-made content is welcome!
For example, you may submit pieces such as; a poem from your favourite character's perspective or an art piece of a character or a fan-made dialogue exchange between characters or an essay about something niche from your favourite book!
Anything & everything is welcome.
Deadline:
All submissions are due by 8th July 2025
