Learning plural culture is (not vent per say, more oddly specific)
everyone you meet sending you a carrd about systems and more information for your system, who is newly found out and lost on system-ing, but each information is too complicated and no one in the systems understands so they feel invalid and out of place.

Developing an Inner Safe Space for Parts
Note: This post was written for people with dissociative disorders, but anyone else can use the methods here if they're helpful!
Tumblr media
This post is all about inner safe spaces! What is an inner safe space, though? Here's what Coping with Trauma-related Dissociation says:
"Inner safe spaces are images of places where you can be safe, relaxed, and cared for. These images have been shown to be helpful to many people, not just those with dissociative disorders. This type of imaginal activity is well known to produce a feeling of relaxation and well-being in those who use it regularly. If your inner experience feels so jarring, unsafe, and frightening, as it often does in individuals with dissociative disorders, the ability to imagine these spaces becomes especially important and helpful."
Inner safe spaces can be useful for many things. You can use it to relax & alleviate anxiety. It can be a tool for soothing dissociated parts of the self, or aide in your communication with them. You or other parts can enter your inner safe space to protect yourself from feeling overwhelmed or potential triggers. Overall, creating an inner safe space can help make your mind a safer, calmer place.
So, how do you make one? All you have to do is imagine it!
Your inner safe space can be anything you want to imagine. There are no rules and it can always be changed! You can create one imaginary place for all parts of your system to share & add to. Or, each part of your system can create their own inner safe spaces to match their own needs. Some people already experience some sort of inner world, too. This can always be changed in order to make it feel safer and calmer for all parts of the system.
🌟 Ideas for inner safe spaces:
Outdoor areas like a meadow, beach, forest, mountain, etc.
Buildings like a cabin, tree house, castle, library, etc.
Vehicles like a car, pirate ship, submarine, spacecraft, etc.
Something underground, underwater, in the sky, or in space.
An entire planet or world of your own.
A fictional world that brings you comfort.
An inner safe space isn't a safe space if it doesn't make you, including all parts of you, feel safe. A good place to start is by writing down things that make you feel safe. If you don't know what makes you feel safe, try looking at what makes you feel less unsafe. It might also help to ask a loved one or therapist for help!
Invite your system to include their own needs, too. Try not to judge them even if you disagree. It's important for all parts of the system to feel safe.
🌟 Ideas for things that you can add/adjust to make your inner safe space feel more comfortable:
Add games, food, and movies that you like
Create individual rooms for each part of the system
Give yourself an inner appearance that makes you happy
Add your favorite colors, sounds, smells, & sights
Add people, characters, animals & creatures that you like
Give yourself a comfortable bed, with soft blankets & maybe even some plushies
Add pride flags!
Create a protective force field around your safe space
You or other parts may want to have a safe space that no one else can intrude upon and that's okay. It's important to respect each other's privacy. You can also adjust the inner safe space to make communication between parts easier! For example, you could add intercoms, mailboxes, telephones, or even a meeting area for aiding communication.
🌟 Having trouble visualizing, or can't visualize things at all? Try...
Drawing or painting it.
Writing about it.
Building it. You can use a video game like the Sims (get it for free!) or Minecraft.
Basing it off of a real place.
Collecting photos/videos of what you want it to be like. You can find royalty-free images on Unsplash and Pixabay. Or you create a Pinterest account!
Filling a journal, document, blog, or discord server with pictures, writing, and anything you want about your inner safe space!
Trying guided exercises for creating inner safe spaces. (IMO this is best done with a therapist's help.)
Asking your friends, therapist, or loved ones for their suggestions.
Creating a physical safe space instead of an inner one.

dear systems who say they have OSDD-1b but have amnesia,
I urge you to read the DSM-V diagnostic criteria for DID. if you are experiencing amnesia of any kind, you most likely have DID, not OSDD-1b.
this is a quote directly from the DSM-V criteria:
“Recurrent gaps in the recall of everyday events, important personal information, and/or traumatic events that are inconsistent with ordinary forgetting.”
it does not say that you need blackout switching amnesia, or even any kind of switching amnesia at all. do you frequently find yourself unable to clearly remember everyday events? that’s amnesia.
and guess what? amnesia from childhood does count as dissociative amnesia! here’s another quote directly from the DSM-V:
“The dissociative amnesia of individuals with dissociative identity disorder manifests in three primary ways: as 1) gaps in remote memory of personal life events (e.g., periods of childhood or adolescence; some important life events, such as the death of a grandparent, getting married, giving birth) …”
this means that, yes, amnesia from your childhood (that is inconsistent with ordinary forgetting) is dissociative amnesia.
still think that your amnesia isn’t bad enough? check out this quote which is - you guessed it - also from the DSM-V:
“Individuals with dissociative identity disorder vary in their awareness and attitude toward their amnesias. It is common for these individuals to minimize their amnestic symptoms.”
it’s all too common for people to minimize their symptoms, and amnesia is yet another symptom that is commonly minimized.
lastly, I’d like to show you the DSM-V’s definition of OSDD-1:
“Chronic and recurrent syndromes of mixed dissociative symptoms: This category includes identity disturbance associated with less-than-marked discontinuities in sense of self and agency, or alterations of identity or episodes of possession in an individual who reports no dissociative amnesia.”
I have italicized the part that refers to OSDD-1b. you’ll note that it doesn’t say “an individual who reports a little bit of dissociative amnesia”. it says “an individual who reports no dissociative amnesia.”
therefore, if you are experiencing dissociative amnesia, you more than likely have DID. it’s okay if your amnesia isn’t “severe” or if you don’t have blackout amnesia - that doesn’t mean you don’t have DID.
sincerely,
a DID system that used to think he was a OSDD-1b system but then realized that, oh shit, not remembering anything before you’re 10 is actually not normal, and neither is having your memories of recent events being super blurry and difficult if not impossible to recall. whoops.
⚠ this post was created by an anti-endo system. endos can reblog, but do not clown. this post is about DID and OSDD-1b, not non-disordered systems. ⚠

polyfrag / c did sys. only
does anyone else have an alter who’s whole job is to be co con with a fragment and just actively hate them for existing?
and making it super passive where it goes anywhere between making the fragment really not want to from to making them wanna scream and disappear and wish they didn’t ever exist in the first place within the system?
we’ve had an alter like this for a while and it’s starting to actually be stressful, if anyone has any tips or anything, it would be helpful!

I think one aspect that's missing in cripplepunk is our sole focus on rage against ableism and how we're forgetting an important pillar of punk: kindness, and how being kind is pretty punk, actually.
Offering mutual aid to fellow disabled people, like giving them shelter, supplies and the financial means to survive in a society that deems us hopeless burdens.
Simply being there for others, like providing each other emotional support and forging strong communities and lasting friendships whether online or irl.
Standing up against ableists and offering comfort to the bullied (and maybe getting to drive over the feet of/hit said ableists, as a little treat.)
Being understanding of and believing other people's symptoms and giving them space/support for bad days, forgoing oppression olympics and rejecting both toxic positivity and negativity alike.
Kindness is punk and that absolutely goes for cripplepunk, too.

seriously!! i often have to spit put food cause i cant swallow it and sometimes drool. it’s a pain, ive always been embarrassed about it cause of how people are with it, but i am human!
here's to people who drool, who can't close their mouths, who spill food or drink when they're eating, who struggle to chew, who struggle to swallow, who are prone to choking. you should be able to eat what you want, how you want, wherever you want.
