Shout out to people with Complex Dissociative Disorders (parents edition):
If your parents genuinely changed and improved overtime
If your parents were absent when you were a kid because they were sick / ill / working / otherwise indisposed
If your parents were not your abusers
If your parents would have acted differently if they knew you were being abused
If your parents didn't have the resources or knowledge to help / understand you
If your parents were loving and yet still neglectful
If your parents inadvertently invalidated / didn't believe you, but now do
If your parents weren't your primary caregivers when the abuse happend
If you weren't abused at all and your trauma was medical / environmental / etc
Had emotionally and physically present parents but you still had disorganized attachment with them as a kid because of your delusions / paranoia / etc.
If your parents regret how they treated you
If your parents loved and love you but acted the way they did because of substances / mental illness
If your parents are not completely bad people, or bad people at all
If you still get along with your parents regardless of what they did
If you ever invalidated your own traumatic childhood experiences because your parents were "too nice"
Your trauma is not less valid if you get along with your parents today. Sure, you needed disorganized attachment to your primary caregivers as a kid to develop a CDD. But that can take plenty of formes, and they don't all include your parents being monsters.
Edit: any other emotions regarding your parents are also valid and okay, and I couldn't mean that more. Childhood trauma survivors go through so many rough emotions, and self-invalidation is sadly way too common. Your feelings are a direct result of what happened and that makes them normal.

Bg3 companions react to a pdid tav
Gale
• dude thinks it’s so interesting
• asks a ton of questions about your system
• he noticed what type of spells you preferred based on alter
• will help with sensory issues
•when he figures out who’s co fronting he’s so pleased with himself
• noticed when your tastebuds were different
Lae’zel
• genuinely thought you were a sleeper agent
• notices you co con/shift more than you do
• (if warlock) assumes it’s a warlock thing
• noticed your behavior changed and adapted
Wyll
• oh shit me too
• especially when you explained non possessive switches and related a little too hard
• he’s happy you “came out” to him
• your ability to sword fight or lack thereof makes sense now
• noticed that your agility would change
• starts keeping a journal about his system
Shadowheart
• oh so that’s why you try and tough out pain instead of getting healed in spite of your low pain tolerance
• regardless is glad to have you around
• she noticed your religious beliefs change on a whim and was a bit bewildered before you told her
• she’s curious how this works if you’re a paladin/warlock/cleric
• when your attitude would change depending on who’s co fronting shed tease you about it
Astarian
• Depending were you are in the game changes how he acts
• try’s to smooth talk your alters if you don’t know about the vamp thing yet
• your blood tastes different to him based on blood pressure
• assumed your change in character was just a bard thing
Karlack
• oh neat
• she noticed that sometimes your a bit more adventurous and other times cautious
• double the amount of affection
• thought your change in behavior was just a leader thing
Halsin
• knew a few people like you
• thought it was just a Druid thing
• if you are a Druid he encourages you to be more animal like
• noticed when your sexuality changed and teased you about your crushes changing
• helps you when your fine motor skills would change

Telling people you’re a system: terrifying
Being called your own name in a conversation with someone who knows you’re a system: pretty nice actually

Communication is so incredibly difficult in my experience so I'm writing some affirming messages for anyone else who may not have good/any communication!
- It's normal for communication to be bad, it's okay!
- It's normal for so many to have no internal communication, that's okay!
- You won't instantly know everything or every part/alter/piece of your system. That's okay! It's unrealistic to think that everyone will know everything about their system.
- Struggling to track symptoms is difficult; that's okay and normal!
- Feeling fake/denial is normal!
- It's okay if you don't have an innerworld. It's not a requirement.
- It's okay to hate your symptoms. I do too.
- It's okay to have good days just as it is to have bad one's.
- It's okay to celebrate even the smallest good thing in your life.
To every person with a CDD, I hear you. What your experiences are is okay and normal for what you have. Whether that be purely because of your CDD or co-morbid conditions.
I hope this helped someone feel better today about their experiences compared to what we commonly see in this space!

Fakeclaiming culture is "Why do they only have fictive introjects of media they consumed🤓👆??"
Like dude...from where else should they come from? Systems arent magic, they cant get introjects per f**king airdrop.

y'all know when someone keeps talking about their "quirky" childhood and adult habits but it's just like. textbook examples of a complex dissociative disorder. but you can't just be like "maybe you're a system" bc that could freak them out way too much all at once.
or you'll offhandedly mention a Uniquely System Specific Experience and they go "wait i relate to that lol. it must be from my depression/anxiety/etc" like. uhmmmm. not quite, not quite. time loss and seeing people in your head that grow and change independently of you is not uh,,,,,,,,,i don't think that's anxiety uh,,,,,,,,
#i explained psychosis once as a 'break from reality' once and they misunderstood and went 'oh i've had that !!'#and then proceeded to describe the picture perfect example of a DID blackout#like that's not what i meant by a break😭#you might wanna consider the other possibility#did#osdd#pdid#dissociative identity disorder#otherwise specified dissociative disorder#partial did#partial dissociative identity disorder#did osdd#osddid#did system#osdd system#pdid system#cdd

"the future is plural" "the future is singlet" the future is prioritizing healing. i hope the future is prioritizing healing, no matter what that healing looks like.

Co-fronting is such an experience because sometimes it’s like I don’t know who I am and everything is confusing and bad, and other times it’s just the two of us having two separate conversations simultaneously

On your blog...
You want to exclusively talk about the debilitating side of DID? Sure! I hope it helps to write it down ❤️
You want to talk about the quirky, or fun events that come from your DID? Sure! I'm glad you have a place where you can be positive. ❤️
You want to talk about science and studies? Awesome! You can even link them to allow for further reading!
You want to talk about the community, and talk about yourself using community-made terms and ideas? Cool! Science hasn't caught up on the lived experience of people with DID. You keep doing your best to describe yourself!
You want to talk about how you have little to no sense of self, and undefined alters? That's totally fair! Dissociation is sometimes not cut and dry, tell us about it!
You want to talk about how you have very clearly defined alters that feel so distinct from you? All good! That's common too, tell us more!
But if...
The second someone has a lived experience that differs from yours, you argue with them?
The second someone is too positive, too negative, not aware of their alters, too aware of their alters, too scientifically inclined or not enough scientifically inclined, you argue with them?
That sucks!
Syscourse feels like a knife to the chest. I've suffered enough. Let me have a community. I know I can't be the only one to think this.
It's not because you wanted a community when you opened Tumblr, and found experiences that differ from yours instead, that you have to attack these people.
I've tried to stay away from the fights, but I think that if no one brings up how senseless they are, they have no chance of stopping...
***this is about DID. Not endogenic folks. I do not include any endogenic people in my discussions since they do not claim to have DID***
