The Overlord Power Couple— this is probably a billboard or magazine cover
This was just supposed to be a sketch but yeah
• They co-own a talent agency— Vox handles TV, commercials and film, Alastor specialises in voiceover, music production and obviously radio
• Alastor is the harsher critic when it comes to talent— very much has an ‘either you have it or you don’t’ attitude
• They have two towers and actor’s village at the bottom and it’s like its own high end neighbourhood, think like a classy mashup of old and modern New York architecture
• The Agency is located on Vox’s tower, along with the meeting rooms and the sets of Vox’s programs that he hosts. Vox’s office is the top floor.
• Alastor’s tower is more a place of entertainment and indulgences— exclusive to the talent within the agency except for major events where it’s invite only. Ground floor is a restaurant, next floor is a jazz club/theatre, recording studio is on the third floor, Al’s office and radio station is the top floor.
• Events at the jazz club/theatre are the social events of the season
• Alastor writes and directs radio plays and Vox is super invested— so this has absolutely happened post episode:
Vox: *teleports to Alastor’s office and grabs his shoulders, violently shaking him* *distraught beyond belief* WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! WHY WOULD YOU LEAVE IT LIKE THAT?! YOU FUCKING SADIST! I COULD KILL YOU! HOW’D YOU LIKE TO DIE AGAIN, YOU HORRIBLE PRICK?!
• There is a cork-board at home for Vox’s theories about what happens next episode— it’s on the side of the fridge so Vox remembers to eat.
• Alastor loves leaving his thoughts on post-its on what he thinks of certain theories.
• Vox has tried to sneak peaks at the script before the episode airs. He has failed miserably each attempt. Alastor is very pleased.
I’m so unwell about them actually… obsessed in the sickest most twisted way
Eepy evil platonic husbands inspired very much by @bestosunglass and their Media Husbands— who have also inspired this fic I wrote!! Evil husbands on an average evil day!! In Hell!!
After watching the finally and reading into Alastor’s part, particularly this line
I think this may have implications as to his patronage.
From what we had known about Alastor, a line like this should’ve been met with deep shame and disdain that he’d lower himself to such a degree that he’d willingly sacrifice himself for his pet project. Either that or bemusement at such a thing happening to the Radio Demon of all people.
This is not the face of shame, this is panic and desperation. He’s finally proven himself capable of genuine care and compassion for others.
Lilith from what little we’ve seen of her does have compassion for her daughter in the portraits we see and the way we’ve heard her been described by her daughter in the past. It’s a safe bet to make that Lilith wouldn’t abhor these developments in someone she patrons, especially considering it means her daughter and family are being protected and watched out for in her stead.
But you know who may take issue with it?
Not even going into the aesthetic parallels between Alastor’s magic and Roo’s, would it not make sense for the root of all evil to patron someone like Alastor in the beginning as he’s rising through the ranks of Hell when he’s so power hungry that he’s toppling social structures held in place for decades to carve a place for himself? For no other reason than he deserves that place?
In the decades to follow, there has been an obvious decline in his evil persona— still prolific and memorable to many in Hell but like Mimzy said ‘he doesn’t do that kind of thing anymore’.
So what if in the years he’s gotten to know Husk and Nifty and those he would call friends or entertainment he got comfortable enough to be his own brand of friendly? Or perhaps the odd way in which he’s friendly to people is so that he doesn’t fall out of favour with the patron of his power who needs him to be the fearsome indiscriminate killing machine he’s known to be? Should Alastor’s edges start to soften, he stands to lose much more than his overlord status but the means by which he obtained that status in the first place, leading to a huge vulnerability.
Everything Alastor does in aid of the hotel, he always prefaces it by outright stating he has ulterior motives that specifically serve him. With what we know about him now and what little we know about Roo, I think Roo being a candidate for Alastor’s patron isn’t too far fetched.
