“Have you ever seen a god fall?” The woman at the bar says, taking a sip of her scotch. She has long dark brown hair and is wearing a dark trenchcoat. The bar has three other patrons in it, none of which are near her, so she mostly spoke to herself and the bartender, a gruff older man who had heard many similar rants, but this one caught his attention, “I don’t mean in the pretentious sense, like seeing a religious figure get dethroned or the destruction of some decrepit temple, no I mean watched a god fall from the sky?” She takes another sip of her scotch. At this point, the bartender shakes his head and begins to walk away. The woman scoffs as she swirls the ice cube, “No, I guess you haven’t.”
Her phone rings. She goes into her pockets and answers, “We found it.” A man’s voice says over the phone. She hangs up and smiles. They found it. She leaves some money on the bar and gets down from her stool, making her way to the door and eventually leaving. She found it.
She orders a ride and is obliged in the next five minutes. She gets into the car and is taken to her next location.
WaterWonder, a dream of hers ever since she was young, now made a reality. She pulls out a set of keys and searches through them before she finds the one she needs and opens the aquarium doors. She walks inside and sees the entryway, which has tubes of jellyfish just before the ticket office. She smiles at the tubes before taking a right and walking toward a set of double doors with the words STAFF ONLY printed on them.
She searches through the keys again until she finds the set she needs and opens the doors. She walks through the doors to see a plain grey hallway that leads to the left. She walks down the hall for ten minutes before she is met with another set of double doors. She opens these doors and finds herself in the animal rehabilitation center. Here, she passes tanks with turtles that are getting their shells repaired, endangered species going through breeding programs, and egg nurseries.
She smiles at her hard work before she takes another right at the Octopus enclosure and walks towards an elevator door. She presses down on the elevator and the doors open. She steps into the elevator then turns to the floor panel, going through her keys once more before she finds the one she needs. She inserts the key into a slot at the bottom of the floor panel, twists it right before pressing the buttons for floors one, two, and then basement. The doors shut and the elevator begins to go down. The digital reader shows 1, then B, then LAB.
The elevator doors open and the woman finds herself in a well lit sterile laboratory. She steps out and walks into the lab, where there were specimens of aquatic creatures in tanks, tables with Petri dishes and desks with computers. She looks over to one of the aquatic creatures, an eel like fish with a bioluminescent bulb protruding from its head, its eyes glowing with the same glowing light as it watch her walk past.
She continues further into the lab, reaching another set of doors with a small camera lense on the right side of it, the last to reach her goal. She leans forward to the biometric visual scanner. Lasers pass over her right eye and a loud buzz is emitted from the machine before the sound of locks unlatching follows. She stands up and opens the door, where two men stand in front of a table that has a small fish tank on it.
One of the men turns, a tall thin man with short black hair and glasses “Doctor Sirus.” He says formally. Sirus smiles at him, “Doctor Conrad.” She greets him as she walks forward. She looks over at the other man, Doctor Johns, then looks at the fish tank, “It’s remarkable, isn’t it?” She says with a smile. John’s stares at the creature inside, a clear jelly-like mass with a bulbous red eye. It crawls around the tank like a worm, feeling the glass edges before crawling to the other side, “I, I wasn’t even sure it was real.” Johns stuttered out. Sirus chuckles “I don’t blame you, even as a little girl, seeing it for the first time, I wasn’t entirely sure. Now though,” she kneels down so that she is at eye level with the small creature, “Now we know you’re actually here, huh, little god?”

Chapter 1 of my short story: Available on Patreon:
The knights walk through the cave, slowly and carefully, watching every shadow that flickers in the lantern light. A droplet of fluid falls onto Bartholomew's armor. He looks up to see a large, perfectly circular stone. Out from the stone came a pale yellow slime with two tendrils coming from its top. "Snail!" He shouts as the snail drops from the ceiling. Bartholomew pushes Rodrick out of the way, and his left leg is crushed by the force of the falling snail. He screams in agony as the snail readjusts itself to be sitting upright. The huge snail retreats into its shell as Rodrick and the foremost knight, Commander Gerald, move in and swing at the shell of the snail
"On your left, Commander!" Joshua shouts. Commander Gerald moves to the right as Joshua raises his hammer and slams the steel head down in the shell, causing it to crack. The snail produces a thick slime on the cave floor, causing Joshua to lose his footing. Rodrick and Commander Gerald cover their mouths. Rodrick begins to gag and turns away. Joshua slides himself on the floor away from the giant snail as its head comes back out from its shell. It leans forward toward Joshua as he continues to attempt sliding away. Bartholomew crawled to the side of the snail and aimed his sword at the base of the snail where its head comes out of the shell. He plunged the sword through the base of the snails head, the blade sticking out through the other side of the snail. The snail squirms, attempting to withdraw its head back into its shell but being blocked by the sword.
"Now, Commander!" Bartholomew shouts. Commander Gerald reaches into his pouch and pulls out a large white stone, a chunk of salt. He walks up to the snail quickly and grabs it by the eye stalk. He pulls the eye stalk hard, causing the snail's mouth to pry open. Gerald pushes the white stone into the giant snail's mouth, making sure to put his arm in as well. The snail bites down on Gerald's arm, causing him to groan in pain. Gerald removes his arm from the snail's mouth and stumbles backwards, grabbing his arm. He pulls off the gauntlet covering his arm to see that his hand is covered in bruises and burns. The snail begins to convulse and shake as it vomits up foam, then finally falls, slowly becoming a large pile of slime that leaves nothing but the shell. The men who surround the snail catch their breath before Gerald speaks.
"Excellent work, men."He winces as he grabs his injured arm. Bartholomew groans as he crawls up the wall to get on his good foot. Joshua stands up from the slime to help Bartholomew to his feet. "Commander, your arm," Bartholomew whispers
Gerald shrugs, "My arm, your leg. This is the price we pay for safety.
Let us continue, we have a job to do." The knights gather themselves and continue onward into the cave until they reach a cluster of large, pale yellow orbs. Rodrick walks forward and grabs a small bottle from his pouch. He uncorks the bottle and pours the contents onto the yellow orbs. Rodrick then took a small wick from his pouch and used the flame from the lantern to light it. Rodrick threw the lit wick onto the pale yellow orbs, and the knights watched as the yellow orbs bubbled and burned."It is done. Let's go home." Gerald says, still grabbing his injured arm. The knights turn around, Joshua still carrying Bartholomew by his shoulder. The flames continue to grow until the yellow orbs are overtaken by fire.

🕊️ Please Take a Moment to Read Nadin’s Story
My name is Nadin. I never imagined I would write something like this. I’ve always been someone who kept her worries quiet, someone who believed that even the hardest days could be endured with patience and faith. But right now, I am reaching out — not because I want to, but because I need to.
I am a wife, a mother, and one of many women in Gaza trying to survive days that feel like they have no end. There was a short time — a brief ceasefire — where we thought things might start to heal. Where the sound of war faded for just long enough to let us breathe. But that moment is gone now, and the fear has returned louder than before.

My days are filled with uncertainty, and my nights with prayer. We have lost so much. Our home was damaged, our sense of safety taken from us. But through all of this, I try to keep going. I try to hold on to what little peace I can create with my hands, my words, and my love.
I am not asking for much. Just a little help to keep our lives from falling further apart. To fix the small things — a cracked wall, a leaking roof, the pieces of daily life that help us hold on to dignity.
This campaign isn’t just about survival. It’s about holding on to what makes us human in a place that keeps trying to take that away. It’s about showing my daughter — even though I won’t mention her name here — that the world didn’t forget us.
If you’ve ever felt powerless in the face of suffering, please know that even the smallest gesture can carry great meaning. A kind word. A shared post. A quiet donation. These things remind us that we’re not alone.
I am still here. Still holding on. Still believing that people out there — people like you — still care.
Please, if you feel moved, consider supporting or sharing this campaign.

Why is this one of the most retold stories throughout history? One of the earliest and possibly most famous being the Fall of Lucifer.
