A Day in the Life of Thoma
A drabble revolving around the daily schedule of Inazuma’s favorite housekeeper.
Five o’clock in the morning.
It was sort of the perfect time to wake up. Early enough where the sun was just beginning to peek its tired head over the seemingly endless ocean, giving Thoma just the amount of light that he needed to start his day. This was a routine that was set in stone in Thoma's mind, one that made sure that all of his chores and work would be done at a reasonable hour. It rarely strayed, except for the variety of meals that he would make.
Today counted as an exception as well...For today Thoma was finally going to try a new dish from the Uyuu Restaurant and try to recreate it himself. Despite sounding just like work, the blonde took pleasure in making these things that were only for himself. It was even more rare that he had the free time to do things for that cause anyways.
By five-fifteen, the blonde housekeeper is bathed and dressed for the day, ready for his first task. With a pep in his step, he looked down at the list in hand that made his day look like a perfect itinerary.
Task one: Breakfast.
It is always served promptly at seven am. This gave himself a little time to make his way down to the market bright and early to grab the freshest of ingredients. Fish, eggs, rice and whatever vegetables he could get his hands on to be precise. Every day was a little bit different, which meant that he would have to improvise, haggle down prices if he had to. All this for him to be back in the Kamisato Estate by six-twenty at the absolute latest.
Today, he would be making Ayaka and Ayato a delicious breakfast set, complete with grilled fish, steamed rice, strawberries and a fried egg overtop.
Task two: Laundry.
Seven-ten. Laundry. Simple and sweet, and easier said than done. Kimono's in particular are a chore to wash. The silk is fine and easy to rip if he wasn't careful...But luckily, washing them comes later in the day. For now, while the Kamisato siblings ate their meals, Thoma would prepare their potential outfits for the day-- leaving more than one option out for them so they could have the creative freedom of choice.
Task three: Cleaning.
This was the longest, most gruesome part. After the dishes are all put away and cleaned properly, Thoma then spends around four hours cleaning the estate from top to bottom. He's lucky that today isn't a deep cleaning day, or that number would be nearly doubled. Sweeping, mopping, dusting, scrubbing...the whole premise is privy to his awesome cleaning abilities.
Like clockwork, Thoma usually finishes around eleven.
Task four: Lunch.
With barely any time to waste, as soon as he's clean, Thoma starts prepping for lunch. Luckily for him, though, this job is one he doesn't have to do completely alone, because now all of the other workers were finally awake too. He makes small talk as he works, always keeping that chipper smile plastered on like it would kill him if he didn't. By the time lunch is served, it's noon.
Task four: Break time!
At this point, Thoma gives himself a fifteen minute break, no more, no less. The day is already halfway over and there was still so much to do!! He reminds himself to stay strong, to think of that new meal he wanted to try so badly... As soon as timer is up, it's twelve fifteen.
Task five: Yashiro Business.
This is where is gets tricky, because depending on the day, Thoma is either A) working on the garden upkeep, B) washing dirty laundry, or C) making his way to Ritou. Sometimes in his busiest days he does all three! The latter of the three was the goal for the day today however, as he had some more...special matters to deal with privately. These affairs never occurred within the Yashiro commission, but to the side. Sometimes, one has to solve problems in a more comfortable light! Fixing things never happened in broad day light-- important things usually don't.
Setting a time table for this was even trickier...as each problem was unique and different, but for the most part, Thoma gave himself three hours to get the job done.
Three-thirty pm.
Woof, that one had taken a little longer than he had expected, and with some company that wasn't exactly the best to keep-- Outlanders on Ritou sometimes haven't caught up with how being polite can mean miles in Inazuma. They were lucky to have Thoma there to teach them, because they likely wouldn't have gotten a kinder teacher.
Task six: Seeing Taroumaru
Thoma always sees his best buddy when he can, and today it looked like he had *just* right amount of time to swing by the Komore teahouse and still have enough time to--
"Um...Excuse me??"
A voice snapped him out of his long train of thought, and even halted him in his path as he spun on his heel to face the voice in question. It wasn't anyone he was immediately familiar with, so that was a cause to smile even brighter. That kind face always seemed to calm people down or cheer them up.
"Hey there, how can I help?"
The lady smiles once she is heard and acknowledged, continuing onwards slowly.
"I..I heard that you can help me?? I was looking for--"
Truth be told, Thoma didn't need to hear the rest, for in his mind, he had already agreed to help her out. Yet, he waits patiently for her to finish. Apparently she needed help with a financial dispute with her husband and needed someone to talk to him-- and to Thoma, this was one of the easier jobs to do. Not even close to what was labelled in his job description but..anything to make someones day just a little brighter.
By the time that he finished this matter, however, a few more cropped up like mushrooms growing after a heavy rain. They always did in Ritou, and Thoma always helped. But...this also meant that it was now 5 in the evening. He would have to go back to the Kamisato Estate and prepare dinner now.
"Thank you Thoma!! You're a lifesaver!" The last person of the day called happily as they walked down the street. The blonde nodded in return, waving and cheering them on as they did..and with a small sigh, he finally looks down at his list once again. This list that he kept close to him...that was different every day but yet *exactly* the same.
He would have to skip task seven and jump straight into task eight now...
Which means no new meal tonight. Ha. This was the fourth day in the row for that.
Oh well.
He'll try again tomorrow.
