Okay okay listen we all know that regulus was the “good kid” - the one who never spoke up, the one who took punishment with no argument, the one who always kept his head down and did what he was told to survive in that house

But listen the thing about these good kids is that they have a limit. And when they finally finally reach it they fucking snap. You thought Sirius was bad? Oh Regulus is just getting started. He kills his dad. Poisons his mom and gifts her with a long slow and painful death. Figures the dark lords horcruxes and kills one of them - all while writing a fuck you letter to him to remind him he was bested by a 17 year old.

After all it’s always the silent ones you need to watch out for

When they first heard “we’ve taken what you’ll sorely miss” Sirius had joked that it would be his broom and that was that. They all had a laugh over it and James didn’t really give it much thought.

When Regulus didn’t show up the morning before - he assumed that Reg got caught up in a book. When Regulus wasn’t at his usual place in the stands - he felt a sense of wrong wrong wrong. When Dumbledore confirmed that they’d taken someone they’d sorely miss - that was when James saw red.

He didn’t sign up for this. The agreement was to put himself at risk - not someone he fucking loved.

James wanted to hex Dumbledore. Hell, a good old punch would even work.

They don’t get to fucking hurt his boyfriend.

He saves the anger for later - now he had to focus on the second task - he had to get Reg out in less than an hour.

Then he could fucking destroy Dumbledore and everyone else who put Regulus in danger.

Marlene: sure but do you want to?

James: nah, I like him all fucked up and scary

Marlene: amen to that

“You know now that Regulus isn’t an asshole it’s getting harder to ignore the other thing.”

Lily simply raised an eyebrow. “What other thing?”

James sighed, waving his hand in the air. “You know. The thing we all know but can’t say in front of Sirius.”

As Lily connects the dots, a slow smirk appears on her face. “Is the thing that Regulus Black is good looking?”

James scoffs. “He’s not just good looking. He’s the most gorgeous man I’ve ever laid eyes on - the way his hair falls in perfectly styled curls, his inquisitive eyes hiding so much knowledge -

Lily rolls her eyes. “Okay lover boy. I’m beginning to see why we didn’t work out.”

But James doesn’t stop. He’s on a roll. “I love it when he says my name. Even when he’s annoyed with me - “

“Is that so Potter?”

James jerks up in his seat, hitting his leg on the table in his haste.

He feels himself blush as he meets amused grey eyes. Lily is cackling in the background.

“So.. How much of that did you hear?” James asks, aiming for subtle and missing it by miles.

Regulus smirks. “Enough to know that apparently everyone should find me hot.”

James groans loudly, burying his face in his hands.

“Is there any way you can forget I said that?”

Regulus leans in and smirks - a very dangerous expression on him that James should not find as hot as he does.

“Only if you forget that I think everyone should think you’re hot too.”

And oh -

Well. What Sirius didn’t know couldn’t hurt him.

As much as I love all the regulus time travel fics I feel like we’re missing a golden opportunity here - regulus is technically older than sirius now and if you don’t think he’s going to be reminding sirius every second you’re wrong

Sirius: As your older brother -

Regulus: Are you forgetting the fact that I’m older than you now? What happened to listening to your elders

I know everyone portrays Regulus as the one with exquisite and expensive taste but listen James was the only child of one of Englands richest and oldest wizarding family. He casually wears a rolex watch without thinking twice and is the type to drop hundreds of dollars on a gift. And the thing he goes about it completely unaware of how absurdly expensive all his things are

Regulus: If anyone did the defiling it was me to James

You know why I love the idea of jegulus? It’s cause they choose each other. They don’t make sense and by all means they should never have crossed paths or even had a civil conversation but somehow they do (also shh, we’re ignoring canon) And they keep choosing each other despite all odds. They have the type of love where they fight for it - they never give up on each other. It’s the type of love that creeps up on them and both of them have an oh moment where they realise that this - this is love, always making a choice to love each other no matter what happens

That feeling when a fandom got you on a chokehold so bad that you started being active on tumblr again, resurfacing to the streets of tumblr like that one character that everyone thought was dead.
