“Happy Valentine’s Day, love.” Charlie stirred at the sound of Nick's voice, his eyes fluttering open. At first, they were clouded with sleep, but as soon as he saw Nick's grin, the warmth of it washed over him, and his heart skipped a beat. A sleepy smile spread across Charlie’s face, and without a second thought, he reached up, his fingers threading through Nick's messy curls and pulling him down into a deeper kiss. Their lips met, soft at first, a tender greeting as they shared the moment of waking up together for the first time as a couple. But as soon as their mouths connected, the kiss deepened, soft sighs escaping both of them. Nick’s hand cupped Charlie’s jaw, tilting his head just enough to let their kiss grow more urgent, more needy, like they couldn’t get enough of each other. The sensation of their lips sliding together felt electric, sending warmth flooding through both of them. “Happy Valentine’s Day to you too,” Charlie murmured

Behind them, Tara followed at a more measured pace, her presence calm and grounding. She gave Isaac a warm smile, her soft brown curls bouncing as she leaned in for a quick hug. “Ignore them,” she said with a playful roll of her eyes. “They’ve been like this all day. Just excited.” Isaac chuckled, stepping back to take in their dynamic entrance. “This place looks amazing, as always,” Tara added, gesturing to the stage and the carefully curated atmosphere. “Thanks,” Isaac replied, his smile widening. “Are you both performing tonight?” “Oh, you bet we are,” Darcy said, already making a beeline for the sign-up sheet at the counter. “I’ve got a killer spoken-word piece that’s going to leave everyone in stitches. It’s bold. It’s dramatic. It��s—” “Very Darcy,” Tara interjected with a grin.

On a walk, grumpy silently intertwines their and Sunshine's hands, and Sunshine smiles, squeezing their hand in return.

"Why are you playing sad music while it's raining?" "Sometimes, you just have to let yourself feel the vibe, you know?" "I don't. You're so weird."

“Well,” Alex said, leaning back against the counter, “he’s probably a stray, or someone abandoned him. Either way, we can’t track down an owner unless someone comes looking for him. You could put up posters or check with local shelters to see if anyone’s reported a missing dog. But until then…” “Until then?” Henry prompted, his heart sinking slightly. Alex smiled gently. “Until then, he’s all yours—if you want him, that is.” Henry blinked, caught off guard. He hadn’t thought that far ahead, but as he looked at the beagle—who was now resting his head on Henry’s arm, his eyes half-closed—he couldn’t imagine leaving him behind.

Nick turned, mid-strand of garland, and gave Charlie an exaggerated once-over, his grin widening. “It’s Christmas! There’s no such thing as too much.” He paused, eyeing Charlie up and down, before raising an eyebrow. “Besides, you’d look cute in those.”

Charlie flushed a little, his hand twitching with the instinct to toss the antlers back in the box. “Focus, Nick.”

Charlie frowned, flipping the envelope over in his hands, inspecting it like it was a puzzle he couldn’t quite solve. “You already wrote the activities, didn’t you?” “Maybe,” Nick said, his voice taking on a sing-song quality, “but no peeking! The point is to enjoy the surprise.” Charlie rolled his eyes but grabbed the marker anyway, his fingers already aching from the thought of how long this would take. “This is ridiculous.” Nick smirked, already doodling a border of holly leaves on his first envelope with painstaking detail. “Ridiculous, but fun. Trust me.”
