hey guys, i'm mod star, she/it. i have hpd, bpd, adhd, and anxiety.

i made this blog because the old one disappeared! here, you'll be able to vent about all of your hpd struggles

by calling it what it is: emotional abuse.

it’s not difficult.

slapping the word ‘narcissistic’ on the front of abuse is blindly assigning blame and associating the abusive behaviours with NPD, despite the fact that nowhere in the criteria does it state any abusive behaviours as a symptom.

i understand that people who are severely mentally unwell are more prone to abusing others, however to point the blame at a disorder (and therefore at everyone with the disorder) is ableist, irresponsible and grossly misinformed.

to put it into perspective as to how bad the stigma surrounding NPD is, i have been diagnosed with NPD and have been told i should be killed because of it, that i will inevitably abuse my partners i have had, i’ve had partners in the past be harassed by people saying that it’s ‘just a matter of time’ before i abuse them without any of these people ever even knowing me. i see endless amounts of things online calling all narcissists evil, as well as having my own experiences with abuse disregarded because they do not believe someone with NPD could be anything other than a perpetrator, despite the fact NPD is induced by trauma. the list goes on.

your choice of wording does matter and it does damage people with NPD.

I’m sick and tired of hearing these words used as synonyms for violent rude asshole. They have baggage. You can’t just throw them around willy nilly and expect the people they’ve been used against to be cool with that.

fnoelbolling - claims all ppl with NPD to be abusers and all ppl with BPD to be victims. Also does not seem to realize NPD can come from growing up around NPD. Was quick to call user a narcissist for calling her out.

HG Tudor (YouTube) - labels anyone he doesn't like as a problem, claims to know better because he himself is a 'narcissist', has like 100 videos in a row (I'm not counting, you can actively scroll, that's too much) about Meghan Markle degrading her, idolizes Ben Shapiro

Melanie Martinez - "I wanted the lyrics to be the most savage-every time I wrote something, I was like, 'No, it's not mean enough. It's about dealing with a narcissist who ironically calls you evil because you're able to see through them." Also profited off an NFT called 'narcissistic duck'. "Sure, he can be full of himself - he even has a tendency to gaslight the other animals. But we guarantee you'll feel the love-bombing right away with this duck-er."
