Trying my hand at digital watercolor, trying to come up with a fairly fast way to create fun illustration without veing so dependant on my computer. No better motivator than summer weather to try and learn to put the ipad to actual use.

More botanical illustrations made for taimi.love

The passiflora and magnolia were probably my favourites to illustrate from the bunch of maybe 40 plants that were chosen for the project.

Illustrations made for Taimi supplements. Illustrated here are Reishi, Maitake and Chaga mushrooms. The style was heavily inspired by scientific botanical illustrations and getting a rough colored pencil feel while working with digital tools was a fun challenge. Mainly because I’ve been a fan of old posters about plants for ages and overcoming my own criticism was sometimes tedious.

I illustrated one ingredient a day for over a month. A very focused and intense period of working but very good for learning and refining a technique.

I’ve been working on a big project amongs some other big projects but boy oh boy is this one beginning to get real exciting!

Here you can see a witchdoctor and her ceremonial headdress. I’ve always been interested in feathers and the shapes and layers they create. Had a lot of fun painting a troll too!
