Sometimes you can write a fic based on vibes alone and sometimes you have to research the timeline of when emojis became popular to know whether it's realistic for your character to use a frog emoji as his contact name.

Fullmetal Alchemist kinda followed the blueprint of making Lust a hot woman, but it hit really hard when I realized that she doesn't really seduce anyone (at least in the anime FMA:B) and she's meant to represent blood lust within the framework of what is essentially an anti-war story.
the thing that bothers me with 7 deadly sin based characters is when they cant decide if they embody the sin by suffering from it or by drawing it out of others. ie. if your gluttony demon is a guy who loves eating then your lust demon should be a gooner sex pest. and if your lust demon is a seductive girlboss then your gluttony demon should be a 5 star chef. does this make sense.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard a song about the themes of reconciling being queer with the church, I'd have two nickels.
Take Me To Church by Hozier

Eve by Precious Pepala

Which isn't a lot, but it's nice that it's happened twice.

"why did you stop writing your story!!! never stop writing!!!!!!!!!!!" well you see the character had to drive one mile to a new location and the sentence "she got into the car" was quite simply my undoing

Just finished reading Babylonia by Costanza Casati and I had to break out my feminine rage playlist and stew in the energy of thousands of my female ancestors for the whole rest of my evening.

Rewatching Avatar: the Last Airbender and realizing that Zuko is actually a really good firebender and skilled combatant, and he usually smokes his opponents when they're not - master airbender and avatar Aang, master waterbender Katara, or prodigy firebender Azula. Literally every other fight he gets into, he wins as long as he's not fighting them.

Are we at a point in society where we can admit the fact that Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy were not comic book movies but action movies?
I mean, the movies themselves were pretty kick ass, but I cannot reconcile them with the comics.
The back stories of most of the main characters were altered completely. The only ones that didn't get significant changes were Bruce's bc killing his parents in an alleyway is quintessential to his character so there's no getting around that and the Joker's bc his backstory has always been up for multiple choice.
Christian Bale is a fine actor, but I didn't see him as Bruce Wayne bc he honestly didn't seem smart enough to be Batman, but also I know he got into great shape for the role, but Bruce has always been a tank to me and Christian Bale is just too lean for that.
Every single villain (except Joker) had a completely different backstory or was whitewashed, or both. Bane, Ra's al Ghul, and Talia al Ghul were changed to white people. At least they got Ra's al Ghul's ecoterrorism leanings right.
Don't even get me on Joseph Gordon Levitt's character. He was fine until they tried to be clever with the Robin being his real name thing.
Also, the setting was way too clean and bright and sparkly to be Gotham. That was New York or Chicago, not my modern day gothic horror. Battinson's Gotham was on point.
Anne Hathaway as Catwoman was great though.

Azula's breakdown was gifted kid burnout.
Of course, there is a very complex and nuanced discussion to be had about child abuse, neglect, and mental health surrounding her breakdown, but while it was heartbreaking to see a fourteen year old girl reduced to this - it was also really fucking cathartic the older you get to see the character who had been put on such a pedestal from the moment she had been introduced completely lose it. Even before we meet her, we learn about her from Zuko at the end of book 1. She's the prodigy, the perfect daughter, the master fire bender, the smart student, daddy's little girl, and she just shatters under all that pressure.

I can't believe there are no crossover fics between Stargate and Ben 10. I've not seen a fandom so ripe with crossovers as Stargate. I even found a super long and really good crossover fic between Stargate and Avatar: the Last Airbender!

James Gunn's Superman movie has themes of adoption/adoptee and I don't see anyone talking about it. It can be summed up in the sequence of showing Clark's birth parents' message and then switching to the video montage of his adoptive parents at the end. I actually got flashbacks to when I was a kid and my adoptive parents video taped almost every minute of our first few weeks together. The message is so sweet and simple that I teared up at the end.

I think the main difference between Alanna of Trebond and Keladry of Mindelan on their journeys to being female knights was that -
Alanna said, I'll beat them at their own game.
But Kel said, I refuse to play by their rules.
And both were totally valid and successful.
