i remember one time i was getting tested for adhd, and the doctor asked, "what would you do if you had an essay due in 2 weeks? when would you start?" (we were talking about how much procrastinating was an issue for me)

and i just remember. panicking. because my mom was sitting right next to me and i didn't know what to say because i'd never had an essay due in two weeks before - what was i supposed to say? whose response should i say? my mom, who wanted me to say something acceptable, the doctor, who didn't give two shits about me, or me, who had idea, but assumed the answer was probably the night it was due?

but i had never had an essay due in two weeks before. i honestly didn't know.

so i just said, "a few days before?"

and the doctor said, "well thats not really procrastinating, is it?"

and thats how i didnt get diagnosed!

like.... imagine it tho.

eleven-year old barty, with his new best friend named regulus or whatever, are walking around the school when this kid a whole year older than them walks over and starts talking to regulus? in a different language?

and this kid like turns around and looks at barty just standing there and is like, "what's your name?"

and barty forgets to respond cause 1) this kid is like, gorgeous, 2) this kid is in another house, which was really weird, 3) this kid was literally a year older than him, and 4) this kid was the coolest person barty had ever met. like ever.

like barty did not know sirius at all. nothing about him except that he was regulus' brother. but he was already like, omg he's so cool

and later, (later meaning like a few years after lol) barty contemplates this experience. he still thinks sirius is kinda cool, even after everything regulus has said about him. and still very gorgeous.

and that's how barty figures out that he likes evan.

so yeah.

james potter and sirius black (HP): nuh uh. destiny knew they were gonna be besties from the second that they were even a thought in her mind. literal soulmates. 1/10, extra point only for sirius' family

lily evans and severus snape (HP): like no one really thought they were gonna be friends, but it felt kinda natural until later years, so like 5/10

nico di angelo and will solace (PJO): if one wanted to find an instance where "opposites attract" was put into motion, you would find it with these extremely specific gays. wonderful. exactly what i was looking for. 9/10, because apollo.

nico de varona and libby rhodes (The Atlas 6): again with the soulmate shit. why do i even bother. 0/10.

leo valdez and piper mcclean (PJO): i guess no one would really think a homeless boy and THE rich girl would be besties but like. look at their personalities they are the talking shit best friends couple we all need in our lives; 6/10
