New Laura Kinney Wolverine #6 is some kind of black mercy type plot.

Trapped in an illusory world offering a dream of some version of "normality" that she must break free of by rejecting.

They make her kiss a boy in this even though the creator of the character said she is gay. So that's pretty lame.

With this being the first chapter in a dream arc written by people who dont fully understand the character there isn't really a lot to say about it. Only time to establish the setting thus far, all seeds of whats to come.

The new Venom comic is fun again! I missed fun Venom. I love it when there is more silly antics and relationship comedy and less "cosmic nonsense".

If this isn't on your pulls list it's worth a look, there's only 6 out right now.

Death doesn't matter in comic books, relationships are the only REAL stakes. Therefore this comic is high stakes drama.

Batgirl #7 is all about Sandra Wu San. The origin story of Lady Shiva.

Lady Shiva has always loomed so large in Cassandra's story, it seems fitting that her origins will be told as a chapter of it.

I don't believe she is dead, disregarding that death doesn't matter in comics and she would come back to life, but I don't believe that Shiva was killed.

I hope that this run can mark a new beginning in Cassandra's life, the "post-shiva's-influence" era.

Absolute Superman did something interesting finally!

Braniac is a wilder, more erratic, destructive, and unhinged, character than the calm collected Vrill Dox we know. The unknown quantity that Superman represents is driving him up the wall and Braniac is even shown resorting to self harm, having cut out portions of his brain in attempts to remove the anxiety.

This villain is undeniably a horrible person who MUST be stopped, but he is still sympathetic, like, this guy is a quivering mess of neuroticism and paranoid suspicion and anxiety. He's self harming and trying to control the world around him because he cant handle change. This is a sad character even before you learn his tragic backstory. I am so intrigued to see where they take him. Don't get me wrong, he makes a guy puke out his own skeleton and toys with peoples flesh like a mad elder god, he's NOT JUST in need of some meds and a hug anymore, he needs the black mercy at this point. Braniac is still somehow simultaneously a giant terrifying evil AND a small pathetic little weirdo.

My immediate impression on the visual design was this below.

I can't get into my favourite part without ruining surprises but I sure liked that conference call.

As the mystery unfolds and begins to reveal it's self, Absolute Green Lantern distinguishes it's self with visual style and a dark exploration of trauma and fear.

We get to see police killed, more than just one this time, and all because of their own actions. I loved that.

Always love seeing pigs get what they deserve.

The police are symbols of fear, they could never pass the judgement of the lantern.

We don't yet learn John's fate, I'm hopeful but not expecting a good ending for him.

The art is again incredible, Jahnoy Lindsay has given us something powerful.

Jo's power manifesting looks so cool!

Little hint for us in Absolute Superman

"Blackstars" will be an important word probably.

I pre-ordered this as a fan of Black Lightning.

This is a Batman comic.

Jefferson speaks 3 times, I'll show you all of them.

Reduced to supporting character in a batman story.... sounds familiar

So they did it again. But like, with the black Batman, so now it's not racist anymore.

It's a decent Batman comic, looks like a skip to BL or Vixen fans. Jefferson is supposed to be a T-Rex punching, peer of Superman.

But DC hates him for some reason so they relegated him back down to THIS

Good Batman comic but I want my money back.

Vixen is also barely present in this one.

Absolute Martian Manhunter #2 has a strong visual style, and John yells at a baby.

A chaotic, lighter, and more visual start going into an incredibly dark and thoughtful ending.

I have been reading about weaving and cheese making in the middle ages, so my brain was not super interested in switching to reading this incredible comic despite looking forward to it for a month.

My brain wants to read about sheep farmers but it was worth forcing myself to stop the deep dive and read my comic, because this had dopamine too!

in case you were wondering what the blocked poster says i revealed it for you, that is definitely 100% what it says.

I was not expecting to be getting a buddy cop story. I love how the entity is a freaky dude who wants to be "roomates" and is apparently kinda silly.

So now I'm thinking about all the implications of this comic and I can't get back into my history deep dive. If I started saving now for the Absolute Omnibus, I would only have to put aside like 5 dollars a week to buy it the day it comes out. Just sayin.

The story in Absolute Wonder Woman #7 is incredible and Mattia De Lullis is in the running to be my new favourite comic artist.

The only reason I'm not going into about the writing as well is because this is SO worth reading for yourself.

But holy fucking shit you guys this is so good. The visuals do not overshadow the writing, in fact they must be at this level to meet the bar.

If you aren't reading absolute wonder woman you are doing yourself a disservice.

Mothra #2 is out and we got the evil Kaiju's name!

I love Kaiju and Mothra is one of the very best. This comic is definitely worth your time if you're a fan.

This new 5 part limited series has a fantastic running start along the razors edge of information density and story flow and does cartwheels down that line at full speed, never leaving the reader in the dust but still demanding they at least make efforts to keep up.

Can we please talk about this scene in Summer of Superman Special (2025)

Clark was sure, he was in love and he was sure, he knew what his future would be..... and then he saw the future.

And then he couldn't be sure anymore, he lost the confidence to overcome his fear and tell her the truth, and fate altered his path.

In all likelyhood they probably wouldn't have lasted, kids are terrible at considering other people's feelings and relationships are fucking hard . But the choice was taken away from them.

I'm not a Lana/Clark shipper this is just about fate and agency and narrative. But baby Clark and Lana look so cute!!!
