How to Celebrate the Summer Solstice | Witch Tips
How should you celebrate the summer solstice? Also known as Litha, the summer solstice is one of the best times of year to manifest. It’s great for performing spells to increase abundance, passion, creativity, health and protection.  With the vital power of the sun at its highest point, we have the longest day of the year to embrace life.
What can you do to celebrate the Summer Solstice?
Here are some tips you can practice as a witch or spiritual being who wants to get the most out of this special time.
Go outside & soak in the suns energy
Spend time enjoying the sun and its energy as it can purify and restore you spiritually.
Watch a sunrise or sunset
Embrace time outside by seeing the sun at its highest point, when it rises or when it sets. Regardless of when you’re able to get outside, take a second to appreciate the suns glow.
Light candles or have a bonfire
Traditionally, a bonfire and fire jumping were common practices during the Celtics celebrations of Litha. It was said that jumping or crossing through the fire would bring good luck. Please be mindful not to burn yourself, but it can be great to sit near a fire during this time. If a fire is not possible, lighting of a candle can also be done to invoke the energy of the sun.
Infuse solar water by leaving a glass of water in sunlight
Letting the suns rays infuse water can be done for many reasons. Some witches use Sun water similar to the popular Moon water where they will use the infused water in rituals and spellwork. You can opt to drink your solar water for the benefits of the sun (although please do not drink stagnant water and be mindful to refrigerate the water and drink it only within a day or two).  You can use the solar water to water plants, cleanse crystals, cleanse your home, make sprays and infusions, etc.
Decorate with gold, yellow, red, orange, green, blue and white
Gold and yellow represent the suns rays. They also symbolize abundance, joy, confidence and optimism.
Red for passion. strength and courage.
Orange for vitality, health, joy and creativity.
Green represents the grass, nature, and the flourishing of new life.
Blue as an opposing color for the flames of the solstice to help balance with the calming, relaxing, watery colors of blue.
White because it is aways appropriate as it purifies and represents all colors.
Use herbs like rosemary, marigold, calendula
Herbs best used during the summer solstice include Rosemary, Marigold, Calendula, Rose, St. John's Wort (do not ingest if you take SSRI medication), Chamomile, Mugwort, Lavender, Hemp, Vervain, Sage, Mint and Thyme.
Use crystals like citrine, carnelian or sunstone
The best crystals to use during the summer solstice include citrine, carnelian, sunstone, golden healer quartz, amber, tiger’s eye, topaz, pyrite, peridot.
Use fire elements in your magickal rituals
Using the colors, herbs and crystals listed above. As well as incorporating flames, candle magick, fire related sigils, flame readings, etc.
Incorporate fire elements in your altar
See above for colors, herbs, and crystals to consider including in your altar. Having gold decoration pieces on your altar can be great at this time.  You can also include fairies and Fae themed items on your altar to represents the connection to Fae at this time.
Pratice magick & gratitude
Summer solstice is a heightened time for magickal workings making it perfect to do your spell work, rituals and manifestations. It’s also important to practice gratitude for what the first half of the year has given us, for the seeds that have bloomed from the spring, and for the remainder of the year still ahead of us. Taking time to be grateful for all that we have in life is always a blessed opportunity and the summer solstice is a great time for reflection and shining a light on areas of our lives we want to improve upon.
Strengthen your connection with Faeries / Fae
Summer solstice is known as one of the best times of year for the veil to thin between our realm and the realm of the Fae. With the veil thin, it can be a great time to strengthen your relationship with the Fae by leaving them offerings and paying attention to notice their presence as you enjoy your blissful and abundant day.   You can invite them to live in your garden or plants around your property.   There is also the dance of the Fae, where many practitioners will dance and let loose to help invoke your intentions an inviting the Fae to join.
Please do note, the Fae can be quite impish and mischievous, so it is important to wear protection and do your research beforehand if you haven’t worked with them before.
Some lovely offerings to leave the Faeries include:
Mead
Honey
Wine
Milk
Herbs (see list above)
Sweets
Candles
Flowers / Flower Crowns

March 20th brings us the highly anticipated Spring Equinox. During this time we honor the Maiden archetype as she blesses us with new beginnings, growth, innocence, and a childlike whimsy.
Although many witches begin celebrating spring at Imbolc (February 1), the celebration of Ostara (March 20) typically feels more like spring for most of us in the northern hemisphere and therefore has become a beloved holiday by many modern witches.
Here are some things you can do to celebrate Ostara:
(in no particular order)
Spring clean your home with the intention of getting rid of old energy & allowing new.
Declutter your technology (cellphone, computer, tablet) by deleting files
& organizing.
Use egg (or egg substitutes) in some of your cooking to honor the symbol of fertility, new beginnings, and continuing life.
Find ways to connect with & honor your inner child.
Plant seeds in a garden or if it's too cold: plan your spring garden, plant indoor herbs, repot or fertilize your current plants.
Diffuse or use essential oils that represent spring like Lavender, Bergamot, Lemon, Jasmine, etc.
Find ways to connect with nature.
Look for signs of spring as you spend time in nature (walk, picnic, bike ride, etc.)
Incorporate spring in your home by having fresh cut florals (tulips, daffodils, hyacinth, etc.)
Create an Ostara altar to honor the energy. Consider using pastel colors, baskets, greenery, spring flowers, soil, honey, or eggs. Incorporate animal figures such as ladybugs, bunnies, chicks, butterfly, caterpillars, frogs.

Here are some popular types of witches and what they practice 🧹🔮🌿🌙
Please note, the descriptions of the types of witches listed are of course not all encompassing. There are a lot of details to every type of witch & it is very challenging to describe in a short amount of text. If you have any additional information about any given type of witch, please (kindly!) leave it below to help anyone who wants to learn more 🫶🏼
What type of witch are you? Should I make a part 2 to include more types of witches? 🌼

With the iconic Leo season running from July 23 - August 22 we feel the warm light of the sun on our faces after a period of relaxing in the shadows. Where Cancer was pulling us inward to explore our vulnerabilities and emotions, Leo urges us to explore outwardly.
This fixed fire sign is playful, confident, energetic and will bring us all a little boost to our confidence.
Fun loving Leo season could help to put a smile on all of our faces after a collectively challenging year.

Okay witches, it’s that time of year again!
I decided to create this tarot spread to help you connecting with Spirit on the night of Samhain.  It is said that the veil between worlds is very thin on this eve and I know that Spirit is always begging for our attention… so let us engage & hear what they have to say.
If you want to call upon your ancestors for this spread instead of connecting with Spirit at random that will work amazingly too & perhaps may feel more comfortable for some of you.
For card #2 I decided to pull 3 cards to help Spirit explain what they want to say. If you feel that you only want to pull 1 card or if you want to flip the whole deck… go for it! There are no wrong answers when it comes to tarot and especially when it comes to connecting with Spirit it’s important to trust your intuition and do what feels right for you. With that said, this tarot spread would be perfect for those of you who love using multiple decks for one reading. Tarot, Lenormand, oracle cards, angel cards - whatever you feel guided to use will work perfectly (mixing and matching is encouraged!).
Please be mindful to use this tarot spread in a safe space with intention.

A simple 4 card tarot spread to help you get in the spirit of Samhain.
This Celtic holiday is one of the four major holidays.  Samhain happens during the mid-way point between the Autumn and Winter Equinox.  It is said that the veil to the spirit world is thin on the day of Samhain (October 31 to November 1)… so it is the perfect day to connect with spirit & ancestors.
Samhain was a time of harvesting summer crops and it is alleged that the Celtics may have spent the week leading up to October 31 indulging in their summer bounty (aka binge drinking and having huge feasts).

The call of death suddenly seems louder than ever before… our mind spirals as we strip down the layered beauty that was held during Libra season. Suddenly, the flowery garden we stood in for the past few seasons wilts away and what were once roses are now thorns.  Scorpio season is here.
Running from about October 22 to November 22, Scorpio brings with it a cool breeze that we haven’t felt in quite some time.  Scorpio with it’s mysterious and dark energy reminds us that life holds a darker mysterious power than most of us care to admit.
This water sign urges us to stare into the abyss, to accept feelings we previously tried rationalize, and to come face to face with the crushing realization that each moment here on earth could be our last.

Aries Full Moon on October 20th begs us to ask what we’ve been working on over the past 6 months. Since the Aries New Moon, consider the themes you’ve been faced with and what lessons you’ve learned. Consider using tarot to answer those questions if you’re unsure or look at photos in your camera roll, journal entries, IG posts, texts or emails, etc… to try to gain a sense of what’s been unfolding during this time. Now is the time to let that energy transmute, release it & let it fly!
