Stop Learning Tarot Cards Like Flash Cards (You’re Better Than That)
One thing I’ve noticed as I’ve started teaching tarot cards to other people is that they have a tendency to think that every card has an individual meaning and it is their duty to memorize 78 complex sets of meanings before they can begin reading for others.
That’s simply not true.
It’s also incredibly inefficient and totally kneecaps you when you move on to learn another deck (and try memorizing ANOTHER 78 complex sets of meanings). Cards exist in relation to one another. Understanding those relationships lets you remember meanings quicker, better understand how cards in a spread might be connected, and give much smoother readings.
If you’re learning Tarot for the first time or looking to bush up, here’s my advice after reading cards for 10 years. Please, learn from my mistakes.  Tarot is a language
In the same way you learn letters and string them into words and then string words into sentences to communicate, tarot is a language you learn so your intuition can communicate more fully with you and others. And like a language, it’s often best to start with the phrases that you’ll use the most.
Practice: Go through your deck and pick out no more than 12 cards that are really calling to you and look up those meanings. Write them down if you’re up for it. Go through your deck and pick out no more than 12 cards that give you a feeling of unease and do the same. Notice any reoccurring symbols?
  Tarot is a story
How you understand that story may vary on your tradition, your experience level, your aims. Most standard Tarot decks follow the Fool’s Journey through the Major Arcana as he becomes more skilled and then more enlightened. A similar pattern can be seen in each of the suits. The Court Cards are less narrative in my opinion but a similar progression can be seen.
Practice: Take out each of the suits one at a time and lay them out in a row. Read the meanings of each card and see how the story progresses. Write down a summary. Do the same with each of other suits’ courts and the major arcana.
Tarot is a system
You aren’t fluent until you know the language well enough to speak smoothly and in most situations. Similarly, it takes understanding Tarot at a high level to give the best quality readings and read without a book. No card exists in isolation and just like when they show up in a reading, you must read them in relation to the rest of the spread - it helps a lot to know them in relation to the rest of the deck.
Tumblr media
Practice: Lay every card in your deck out like this (pardon my bad MSPaint job). Major Arcana up top and Court Cards off to the right and all the numbers lined up with the Fool and World left hanging. Pick one of the cards that resonated with you in the first exercise and look at how it relates to all the other cards in the deck. If it’s the 8 of Pentacles, what do the other 8′s look like and speak to? What do 8 (Strength) and 18 (the Moon) in the Major Arcana connect to it (if at all)? How does it relate to the rest of the story of the Pentacles?  Hope this helps! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

The Laws Of Magick
The laws of magick are laws in which have been accumulated in order to explain how magick will behave in certain situations. These laws have been gathered by many individuals who have had the same experience, and effects from magickal workings. These laws are good to know in order to understand how to use, and create new types, and forms of magick. Through understanding of these laws one’s knowledge of magick will be forever changed. You’ll be able to see these patterns in your everyday magickal practice, identifying them, and realizing they affect your working. You also might be able to figure out some uses for these laws to enhance your practice. I feel that these laws have something to offer everybody no matter what part of your path you are on.
The Law Of Knowledge
The law of knowledge is the more you know about something the more power you have over it. Knowledge is truly power. By knowing about something you have the ability, and the means in order to change, or control it. This law is not exclusive to magick. The law of knowledge is the most basic law of magick, but maybe one of the most important.
The Law Of Self-Knowledge
The law of self-knowledge is a sub law of the law of knowledge. It is basically you should know thyself. Knowing yourself gives you power over you. Understanding the ins, and outs of yourself is the best way to grow, and learn. Without knowing yourself you do not know your limitations, and weaknesses, or the max of your power, and can never hope to raise to heights unknown. You are the master of your destiny, and the captain of your soul.
The Law Of Cause & Effect
The law of cause, and effect is if you commit a certain action, or actions it will usually produce the same result every time. Applying the this magick is different than applying it in science to the inherent fact of the amount of variables that you can not regulate, or even understand to perceive magick. This leads practitioners to focus on the more important effects to get there certain outcome.
The Law Of Synchronicity
The law of synchronicity is there is no coincidences. Two or more events seldom happened without being interconnected in some way, or form. Isolated events, or experiences can occur, but it is rare.
The Law Of Association
The law of association is where two things have in common one, or more properties, and these properties can be used to control both of these things. These two things are connected by imposed, or imaginary conditions giving you the power to control both of them if you use the imposed, or imaginary conditions.
The Law Of Similarity
The law of similarity is having an accurate representation of an entity, a place, or a thing that will allow you to gain power, and control over the entity, place, or thing it represents. We see this law used a lot in different types of curses, love spells, and binding rituals were you need a picture representation, or to visualize the person. Having things that look similar to your target will give you power, and control over them.
The Law Of Contagion
The law of contagion is if something has contact with something else it will continue to have contact with it even after they are separated. This means if you touch something, that something we’ll have a direct line to you even after you leave connection with it. This connection can also be used as a target in magickal working to get to you. Which makes everything that you own, or come in contact with have a part of you in it.
The Law Of Positive Attraction
The law of positive attraction is energies are attracted to the same certain energy. Two energies that are alike will come, and be attracted to each other. This means that if you put out happy energy, more happy energy will be attracted to you.
The Law Of Negative Attraction
The law of negative attraction is energies that are the opposite of each other are attracted to each other. One energy goes out in the opposite energy of it will come in. This means that if you put out happy energy, more negative energies will be attracted to you.
The Law Of Names
The law of names is if you know the true name of an object, a being, or a process you will be able to control, and manipulate it. The name is one of the most powerful targeting techniques in all of magick. This is why people use secret magickal names. It allows people not to have power over you. If you say names of things that are negative it gives them power, because even mentioning there names gives them your energy.
The Law Of Words Of Power
The law of words of power is there are some words in this reality in which hold power for certain people. Depending on what word it is, who it is spoken in front of, and who has spoken it. Can affect, manipulate, and control certain people. This is like the word witchcraft. It’s a good, and positive thing when you’re talking to other witches, but becomes a bad thing if you were to speak of it in a church to the pastor, or to most people in the congregation. Words have power.
The Law Of Personification
The law of personification is by treating anything as a entity, or being, and considering it to be alive it will be easier to control, and work with.
The Law Of Invocation
The law of invocation states that it is possible to communicate with entities from inside, or outside external self from entities that seem to be on the inside.
The Law Of  Evocation
The law of  evocation states that it is possible to communicate with entities from inside, or outside external self from entities that seem to be on the outside.
The Law Of Identification
The law of identification is where a thing is so highly associated with another thing that it actually takes on the knowledge, and power of that being.
The Law Of Infinite Data
The law of infinite data is exactly how it sounds. The amount of information is unlimited, and there is always something to learn, create, or to be discovered. There will always be something new.
The Law Of Finite Senses
The Law of finite senses is entities are limited by range, and type of information they can perceive. This means most likely that one entity can not perceive everything for something will always be hidden. No entity will be able to make accurate judgment through a hundred percent of all universal information.
The Law Of Personal Universes
The Law of Personal Universes is every individual creates his/her own personal universe that can never be the same as anyone else’s.
The Law Of Infinite Universes
The Law of Infinite Universes is there’s an infinite number of possibilities for universes the can, and do exist.
The Law Of Pragmatism
The law of pragmatism is if it works, it is true.
The Law Of True Falsehoods
The Law of True Falsehoods is if it’s a paradox it’s probably true.
The Law Of Synthesis
The Law of Synthesis is everything can be split down into multiple opposing characteristics that in body a little bit of each other. These multiple opposing characteristics are not naturally at war with one another, and can work in harmony.
The Law Of Opposites
The Law of Opposites is is a sub law to the law of Synthesis. The opposite of something is uniquely connected to that something. Control over the opposite of something will also give you control over that something.
The Law Of Dynamic Balance
The Law of dynamic balance is a very important. It states that one’s universe must be in a constant state of dynamic balance so that one does not become an an extremist on one of the sides. This law make sure you did not get completely consumed by one aspect of any form. Balance is key in life, and magick.
The Law Of Perversity
The law of perversity is pretty much just murphy’s law which states anything that can go wrong will go wrong.
The Law Of Unity
The law of unity is everything is connected directly, and indirectly of each other regardless of time, or space.

Bath Magick is the easiest form of witchery to practice, as all you need is a tub and some intent along with things you can easily find around the house or from the kitchen.
Ritual baths are a great way to cleanse your mind, recharge, set your intention and work some magick for the following day or week. Water holds positive energy and has the ability to realign your whole body and mind.
Your basic Bath Magick tools should include:
💧Candles 💧 Salt (coarse sea salt or epsom salt) 💧 dried or fresh herbs 💧 dried or fresh flowers 💧 homemade or store bought essential oils 💧 crystals, rocks or gemstones
The first step to a successful Bath Spell or Ritual Bath is to set up an altar on the rim of the bath or the counter close to your tub. Choose crystals that match your intent, as well as a candle in a color that corresponds to it. Arrange your crystals around your candle and on the rim of the bath. Light the candle to start your ritual.
Draw your bath, adding your salt first for protection and Cleansing, and then follow with your chosen herbs and flowers. Put in a few drops of a corresponding essential oil. If you have a crystal that is safe to use in water, you can add it into the bath. When the temperature is right, get in and soak. Meditate on your intent as you relax and let the water calm you.
When you have finished, rise and blow out the candle, whispering or thinking: The Ritual is now over.
Energizing Bath 🌸 Yellow Candle 🌸 Orange Calcite, Carnelian, Tiger’s Eye 🌸 Orange slices, lemon slices, cinnamon, mint 🌸 4 drops of Peppermint essential oil (be careful, only a little)
Self Love Bath 🌸 Pink Candle 🌸 Rose Quartz, Clear Quartz 🌸 Rose petals, Rosemary, Lavender Buds 🌸 Geranium or Rose essential oil
Prosperity and Luck Bath 🌸 White Candle 🌸 Aventurine, Pyrite, Snowflake Obsidian, Malachite 🌸 Basil, Parsley, Mint, Thyme 🌸 Sweet Apple essential oil
Calmness and Rest Bath 🌸 Lilac or White Candle 🌸 Amethyst, Clear Quartz 🌸 Lavender leaves, Lavender Buds, Thyme and Rose petals 🌸 Lavender essential oil
Beauty Bath 🌸 Red Candle 🌸 Clear Quartz, Pearls 🌸 Oats, milk powder, red rose petals
Take care that the essential oils you use are safe to use in the bath, and less is always more when it comes to oil!
Soak up the magick!

Color correspondence lists are only as useful as they resonate with you. If you intensely hate yellow, it is not going to represent happiness effectively in your spellwork. If healing is blue and calm instead of green and lively for you, you're not wrong. These things are not truly universal--they bear cultural and personal meaning.
As I've said before, I use red for boundaries, and it works damned well for me. It might not for you, though. Try to make your own list of color correspondences, instead of assuming one in a book or on someone's blog is perfect for you.

🔔 BELLS IN WITCHCRAFT 🔔
Tumblr media
Bells might just be the earliest form of superstitious practise that I remember. My baba attached three sakura-patterned suzu bells on my schoolbag as a kid, purportedly for good luck and protection from evil spirits – and Japan is far from the only place to have associated bells and bellringing with mystic practise. They’ve been used worldwide to ward off evil and carry messages – and in a more metaphysical sense, sound is the movement of energy through substance. Sounds have the potential to work powerful magic.
Here are some of the ways I’ve found utilising bells to be helpful to my craft. While I’m more likely to use traditional suzu type bells, your own background, path and culture will likely have its own types of bells – and as ever, bells can be ornate antiques or they can be a bottle cap in a tin can, as long as they’re used with intent.
GETTING STARTED
🔔 As with so much of the craft, if you’re new to the witching bell, it’s a matter of exploration and experimentation. Get a “feel” for what works for you and the specific bell you’re using.
🔔 It’s good practise to ensure that the bell itself is cleansed, warded and protected – you don’t want anything nasty tapping into that power. All witching tools can do as much harm as good, intentional or accidental.
🔔 A good way to begin incorporating bells into your craft is infuse them into any typical ritual that you’re comfortable with, or even just a prayer or moment of contemplation at your altar if you have one.
🔔 Give the bell a soft ring while focusing on the energy it’ll ripple and move, try to track the movements it creates and what it touches. The tone it’s sending out.  The most primal and versatile use of the bell – and what many of the below come down to – is simply another manner of physically channelling energy, giving it shape and direction.
PROTECTION
🔔 “Passive” bells such as windchimes or small bells attached to belongings you don’t want disturbed are a starting point. They will scare off some forms of spirit all by themselves, especially if appropriately blessed, charmed or enchanted. Or cursed.
🔔 Gently tolling can draw energy into a ward or circle you are forming and enforce its protective properties, or for a simple cleanse, letting the sound travel to every corner of the area you are protecting. It’s a little more “cutting” than a smoke or incense cleansing, which I view as more “gentle” forms of cleansing. Both have their uses.
🔔 Harder tolling is, in my opinion, one of the most powerful ways in which to enforce a banishing – however, it’s best to you know what you’re doing with the bell before you go bashing it about.
DISCERNMENT
🔔 Bells can have quite the effect on your perception and awareness. Ringing and then stopping, listening to the silence left in its wake, can bring you new perceptions or make things you’d previously missed obvious. Let it attune your mind and senses to something new, whether that’s in your thoughts or something with a little more presence. Visualise travelling with the sound, taking heed of the energies it touches and disturbs. Take note of the echoes – you’ll learn what they mean with experience.
🔔 A set of windchimes can let you know if something is passing through or if there’s some unusual energy afoot – and, yes, it may also just be letting you know that it’s a particularly breezy day, but that’s witchcraft for you.
CONJURING
🔔 This can be as simple as calling good energies to witching tools, spell jars, tarot decks, crystals, altars and shrines, your favourite teddy bar, anything at all.
🔔 With spirit work, it can truly help to magnify your “calling”. This can range from gently bringing your latest offering to the attention of your friendly neighbourhood house spirit – all the way to trying to catch the attention of something more. Be mindful, however. As I said, I consider bells pretty powerful tools and a call that’s too loud is not good spirit work practise for the spirit worker’s own sake. It can really help coax something out of hiding if you’re gentle with it, though.
COMMUNING
🔔 Some use bells to mark the beginning and end of a ritual, and I’ve read that in Wiccan practise an altar bell can be used to invoke the Goddess, although as a non-Wiccan, I’ll welcome corrections on that if I’m wrong.
🔔 In my experience, very simple forms of communication via bell work a lot better than anything too complex – “come here” and “stay away” have already been covered, and other than that they can serve as greetings or signals of a start or end of some practise or ritual, the opening or closing of a door, etc.
🔔 They can also serve as a warning or a litmus test regarding spirits, a signalling of your presence and awareness, lack of fear, or willingness to defend – but be prepared to deal with whatever responses these garner.
BINDING
🔔 Bindings are where you most often see that famous (clockwise) circular motion of the bell, embodying the meaning of the spell. This can be a simple binding to seal a spell or charm or enchantment, or a spirit-binding.
🔔 Personally, spirit-binding is something I do as little as possible simply due to my beliefs holding the autonomy of spirits in very high regard. However, sometimes situations arise that call for it, and I’m aware that not all bindings are unwilling. Far from it – and some spirits are dangerous when unbound.
🔔 As an animist (believing that all things, including inanimate objects, contain a spirit of their own), I consider gently nudging a spirit back into its physical form a sort of semi-binding, and that can be useful.
I’ll leave you all with a note that I am an urban apartment-dwelling witch through and through, so I understand that we can’t all be jangling away at all hours. I myself have a glass windchime in my front window that makes a distinct but muted sound when disturbed by passers-through, and highly recommend wooden ones also. I also only use my small and relatively quiet suzu bell for my crafting – one given to me by my baba herself.
Feel free to add any of your own findings, and happy tolling.

Protective Spell for the Home
A circle of protection here I cast. No evil shall enter, no ill shall pass. A shield rise up and surround us all; Protect those who dwell within these walls. Within this space, may safety be found. No ill shall enter our circle round.

Back on my coffee brewing ☕️☕️ magick
Today’s coffee is: a coffee full of sunshine ☺️☀️
Tumblr media
☀️After my coffee brewed and I poured some into a mug I let it charge in the sun for a bit.
☀️Then I added some cinnamon and brown sugar while stirring clockwise to continue letting it charge and actively invoke the sun.
☀️You could stop here, but I added milk (also stirring clockwise) to make my very strong brew more palatable.
☀️Let it sit a small bit longer with everything all mixed in.
☀️Thats it! Happy brewing!☀️
